FDTD fic: hands, touching hands (SethKate, complete)
@myletternevercame and @tuntematonkorppi and I have been bitching about our feelings of want-to-write-but-no-not-that-only-want-no-actual-write for a while, and then I made myself write this, instead of, you know, any one of the 800 WIPs that I want to write.
And did I intend to finish this BEFORE New Year’s Eve? Probably. But as with You Squeeze My Hand Three Times, well, that didn’t happen and I ended up writing most of it DURING NYE instead. As one does. At least the words happened. The first week of January doesn’t count anyway.

"This makes no sense." 47 huffed as he chucked a booklet onto the kitchen island. Diana raised an eyebrow, walking over from the kettle so she could inspect the discarded papers.
"Sundvik," she read out loud, flipping through the pages. "It says you need two people to put it together; why didn't you tell me?"
"You can't be putting furniture together in your condition," 47 countered. Diana rolled her eyes and motioned for him to lower his head so she could kiss him properly.
"If I promise I'll let you do all the heavy lifting, will you let me help you?"
"Alright. But I'm getting a chair for you to sit on."
"I'm fine, 47!" Diana called out, but her husband was already on his way to the garage to grab a folding chair for his pregnant wife. She smiled. He was ridiculous, and she loved him.

My favorite title I used this year was Stockholm Syndrome and Copium. It came from a disgruntled person on the Hitman subreddit. (Side note, I’m glad people seemed to have calmed down over there)
What I listen to while writing really depends on what I’m writing and when I’m writing it. So unfortunately I don’t have a good answer for you. 😅

Welcome to Sapienzanniversary 2024, a Flash Fest to celebrate Sapienza’s anniversary on April 26th!
Due to real life stuff, this year's Sapienzanniversary will be a flash fest, which means short creation period, but also low low minimum wordcount: 100 words (= a drabble). If you want to write more, you are very, very welcome to do so!

As we start 2024, I want to reiterate how much I love and appreciate the Hitman fandom here on tumblr. Fanfiction and the Thirsty Thirteen have been so wonderful to have in my life, and a lot of my favorite moments in 2023 were because of them. 💕

9 people you'd like to get to know better!
Thanks for the tag @dnickels (and I swear somebody else tagged me in this recently too, but I can't find it anymore)
three ships: I like a multipurpose ship, where you can make the argument for different characterizations and dynamics without getting implausibly OOC, and for me Chrollo/Kurapika (Hunter x Hunter) is the epitome of that flexibility. The ship is already so fucking implausible to begin with, you might as well go nuts with it. Make the hypothesis! Solve the puzzle in writing!
Roman/Gerri, Succession. The soil is rich and freudian, man. It's very rare that a canon het ship is compelling to me, but this one gets there.
Viktor/Silco, Arcane. I spent like a year writing a longfic about them, and I feel like the process of coming up with a ship out of basically whole cloth (no canon interactions, 8 fics in the tag when I started) kind of ruined me for writing more established pairings. It felt much closer to an original fiction writing experience and that was really cool, actually whet my appetite for trying original stuff again.
first ship: I was relatively late to the shipping game and really only got knocked upside the head with it with Kylux in 2016. Every so often I get hit with the passing thought, "fuck everything, I'm going back to Kylux."
last song: Quixote, by Crywolf. I love artists who full-on lean into earnestness and mix genres fearlessly, and he does that.
last film: I had to really think about it, because I don't watch a ton of movies but I couldn't believe Oppenheimer could have really been the last one. But it wasn't, I watched Red Dragon with a friend last month sometime.
currently reading: Wild Seed, by Octavia Butler. A new favorite. She gets it. She gets it. She gets it. She gets it.
currently consuming: nothing at the moment, last thing I consumed was @dartheancientoak's potato/sunchoke soup, which is a fall staple.
currently craving: being enclosed. being warm. being unperceived. An underground burrow might be good but I'm not picky.

I saw this ask game circulating around the Tumblersphere, and I don't remember having done a fic writing recap before, so here's my take for 2023:
2023 Year-End Fic Round Up
Words written (published or not, WIPs totally count too!):
Total published word count for this year is 38,706. Hadn’t I been sick, which derailed my flow and hit me with a writer's block, I think it might've written more, but I'm still satisfied with my output. I'm not a prolific writer but I'm still proud of what I was able to publish in 2023.
Smut scenes written (if applicable):
Two, with a oneshot written specifically for one of them (cough mirror cough).
New things I tried:
I embarked on a spanking brand new ship. Although I've always said I didn't like shipping Kuvira with any of the Beifongs (and yes, that includes the canon one), after a series of insightful conversations with @redcatmusings, with some nice persuasion I ended up changing my mind about Lin/Kuvira and well, here we are with 4 Linvira fics published so far. 😅
Fic I spent the most time on:
The fic I spent most time on last year was Masquerade, since it was the longest with 6 chapters. It had been a while since I wrote an action heavy chapter, so chapter 5's car chase scene took me a while to figure out, but I believe that in the end, the effort paid off.
Fic I spent the least time on:
That would be Melody of our hearts. The process felt almost like a stream of consciousness, from choosing 2nd person POV as narrative devise to the writing itself which I wrapped up in a day. Even coming up with title was a breeze, something that's unusual for me because I tend to agonize over coming up with titles.
Favourite thing I wrote:
I'm torn between Masquerade and Seeking Harmony. Masquerade was an absolute blast to write. I loved Asami and Kuvira's rapport throughout the story and building up the tension between the leads amidst the suspense of the investigation was tons of fun to write as it was to read.
Seeking Harmony is the opposite because it's a short, soft introspective oneshot, and that's precisely what I liked so much about it because I was able to weave in some atmospheric elements to emphasize the calm and soft mood of the story. And besides, depicting a vulnerable Kuvira with a supportive Korra is always a win in my book.
Favourite thing I read:
This one is not easy because one advantage of participating on Fanfiction Exchanges is that you get to be exposed to a variety of fandoms and talented authors outside of one's prefered fandoms that otherwise one wouldn't read, and I've read some amazing stories that at moments they've made me doubt of my skills because they were so damned good! I was skeptical at first of the concept but it is a great experience that I wholeheartedly recommend for both the quality writing and the amazing authors one gets to meet and admire and build friendships with.
Writing goals for next year:
I want to pick up on the Linvira fic I had originally planned for last year's ATLA Rare Pair Big Bang because that story is itching to be told. I also have a Kuvira/Asami WIP in the works set in the Bodyguard continuity, and maybe this will be the year which I finally get to complete my Kuvira redemption saga with the last story I've been cooking for years now.

Hi! I wanted to say that I love how you write Katelyn in your fanfics, she’s so cool. Do you have any recommendations or favourite fanfics with Katelyn in them? I’ve finished all of your KateKevAaron fanfics and I think writers always have the best recommendations!

the writing in this fic is so fucking good i don't have words to describe it properly. i started skimming it to see if i wanted to rec it here and ended up rereading the whole thing, trying to soak in every line. incredible characterization of aaron, katelyn, and andrew, depiction of the twins' dynamic, and aaron being down bad for katelyn (as he should be)

omg while browsing my bookmarks in search of katelyn fics i remembered that THIS is the fic that made korean katelyn canon to me!! this one is super well-written and a very realistic portrayal of the kateaaron development offscreen during the series
some boys don't know how to love by earthworms
really well done katelyn backstory and kateaaron development here, and i fucking love the peek into the vixens in this! i adore the concept of the vixens being a troubled team to mirror the foxes

katelyn teaches a slightly bashful/embarrassed aaron how to kiss and it's cute!!! katelyn's so confident in this no wonder aaron is basically starstruck by her

FDTD fic: one step forward (SethKate)
Oh hey, it's me, with a new fic. Surprise!
I’ve been trying to write any one of my 8 million WIPs since I got back from camp but the words just were not working, and then I got to thinking about the Kalinda section of ‘you squeeze my hand three times’ and maybe doing like an AU of that from Seth and Kate’s POV but that wouldn’t really work, so I decided to start writing and let the characters decide where they wanted to go. Which apparently was here.
Of course, it took me like a week to get these two assholes in bed and start making out so I could wrap this thing up, because they just.kept.talking.

I suppose it's the subject matter - because it is, by definition, entirely catered to my taste. And my tastes are very particular! So most of the things I write are what I can't find already written - so of course I enjoy it! :D

Both! I wrote a couple of Fan Fictions you can read on my AO3 account.
I also love reading Fan Fictions, not just about Grey but the whole Hitman Fandom. I'm not a Diana/47 shipper, but there are some Fan Fictions about them out there I really love; for example @cicaklah @diana-fortyseven and @hndcrm are passionate writers and they have written some great Hitman Fan Fictions!
I'm still exploring my writing style and I always try to improve myself, and the best way to do that is reading Fan Fictions from others and being open for criticism (of course as long as its constructive)! So I'm always up for discussions about my Fan Fictions. I love hearing the opinion on characters and headcanons from others!

Ten Random Lines Pt II
It’s been a long time since I’ve done some writing games and I miss talking with the fandom, so I thought I’d do a follow-up of this one!
Here are some more random lines that I enjoy from my Hitman fics. Feel free to share your own or tag someone who might be interested! 😊
Summer Wine (Songs and Silencers): Teen and Up
Diana secured her desk and turned out the light. As she returned to bed and closed her eyes, she hoped to fall asleep and dream a new kind of dream. That one night she would open the hidden panel in her desk to find the gun missing, a familiar shadow approaching her from behind. 47 returning to take back what was his.
All that was his.
2. Lacrymosa: Explicit
Lips lingered as they drank each other deeply, emboldened with the knowledge that touch outmatched time in the swift healing of injured hearts.
3. Under the Moonlight: Mature
He pressed his lips to hers without hesitation, hoping she could feel what he felt for her through such a simple action. It was an experience he had only known for a few months, but he found kissing Diana to be as natural as breathing. And that night, with the moonlight making Diana as radiant and divine as the goddess of her namesake, 47 felt like a fool if he didn’t take the opportunity to worship her.
4. Divine Revelations: Teen and Up
“Tomorrow is never guaranteed,” he said quietly. “You should tell him how you feel. The love you seek may not be returned, but the knowledge would hurt less than the pain of regret.”
5. Unwrapped: Explicit
Perhaps he would speak to her about the ache in his chest tomorrow. Tonight, he would fight the sleep in his eyes a little longer so he could enjoy this moment of Diana in his arms.
It was his birthday, after all. He could indulge in a dream.
6. Five Minutes: Teen and Up
He seemed to fascinate her, and she caught his interest in return. Diana was the first person to see him as more than a number. She was the first person he felt he could trust.
7. Business and Pleasure: Explicit
“It’s dangerous to be distracted.”
She could see a hint of hesitation on his face, his true concern for getting so lost in their memories that he ignored his objective in the present. His hesitation was short lived as she caressed his cheek and leaned in close, a mere breath away from his lips.
“Danger never stopped us before,” she mused. “Why stop us now?”
8. Flight of the Sparrow: Mature
“Mr. Webster, you must not be familiar with the tales of sparrows.” Diana looked over to the pieces that remained of the ornate bird on the sofa. 47 readied his silencer.
“Some say the sparrow is the harbinger of death. Should you capture one, you would be wise to kill it. Otherwise, your life will meet its end.”
9. Irresistible: Explicit
She gasped in a mixture of excitement and surprise as he tossed the lacy remains aside and sucked on her collar.
“You’re going to pay for that,” Diana admonished, nipping his ear playfully.
“I’ve been paying for it all day,” 47 growled in desperation.
10. All Eyes On Us: Explicit
They embraced through the night as the lovers they were meant to be, comforted in the knowledge that while the Riepers’ honeymoon was at its end, their chapter was just beginning, and together they would always remain.
