Right now it's a victim of DNS (Domain Name Service) spoofing. This means that a malicious party is trying to steal traffic from FFn by purchasing a very similar domain.

Correction:

The new "fake" site that people are seeing still belongs to FanFiction.net—they just misconfigured their servers and are not redirecting traffic from the bare fanfiction.net to the main site at www.fanfiction.net. There is likely no malicious agent. Didn't mean to scare anyone! Just wanted to let people know the site wasn't deleted!

So if you want to read fanfiction and not see leaves, you have have to type out "www.fanfiction.net".

Please share so people stop panicking.

That is, the two former are 104.18.19.242 and appear to belong to Cloudflare. The latter two are both 209.141.39.137, which belong to Frantech Solutions (that IP is also listed as fictionratings.com's IP address, which also resolves to the green site, both for www. fictionratings.com and fictionratings.com).

THIS MAY BE VERY BAD, regardless of whether this is something the owners have done or it's something fraudulent.

Again, I don't know what this means. Maybe the owners are moving the domains somewhere cheaper, but if so the choice they've made is deeply concerning. Maybe they misconfigured their servers. Maybe something dodgy is going on and someone's using Frantech to do it.

One thing is very clear: something is up. DON'T PANIC but the sensible action is to archive/save your fics. Archiving www.fanfiction.net addresses in the Wayback Machine is currently not working, as it can't reach the site, so use other tools available to you.

Hi there nice person! I am so happy my blog helped you revive your love for Sasuke. And I feel you... It is so annoying to see so much unjustified Sasuke hate.

My problem with fanfiction (and literature in general) is that when I like something I love it fervently and obsessively forever, but it does not happen often. Most works I come across are excellent, really, authors are so skilled. And still, very rarely I get an emotional connection with the work that motivates me to engage with it and continue reading. I am constantly trying to find something that works for me but I almost never do. But it's entirely my fault, really 😔😔😔 I have a few examples of fanfics that I really like, though. All involve brotherly interactions between Sasuke and Itachi (sorry, I know many Sasuke fans can't stand him): I love this series where Itachi survives but is blind, and he and Sasuke just share time and be with each other: -https://archiveofourown.org/series/2697271
