I was watching a Youtube video of all the Cinematic from the new Overwatch Invasion update (cause heaven knows I ain't buying it) and I noticed at the end Ramattra has this like.. Burn? Mark?? On his chest that goes through his cape
So I downloaded Overwatch on my PC to get a look at the Wandering/Traveling Monk skins this scene is using and I noticed..
Traveling and Wandering have a lot of visual differences, most notably in the burn the originally got my attention.
Wandering has been used canonically to show Ramattra's monk days previously, in his origin story and in the Developer commentary, but interestingly the artwork in those videos is lacking that very burn
Overwatch character designers are very good at visual storytelling, especially with Omnics (I could write an essay on what they've done with Zenyatta), so I believe this burn may very well be what became the Last Straw for Ramattra, what pushed him to leave the Shambali, what caused his fall into violence and eventually Talon.
Was he attacked? Or was he attempting to protect someone else? Despite his best efforts to shield them, the shot fired right past him, scorching his metal, cutting through his cape, and taking their life...
I hope we learn more about it.

Me: Hey, I finished that dress I've been planning to make since last May.
My mother, silently grateful my first summer dress of the year is not covered in manic cartoon animals: Oh that looks lovely... Though don't you think you put a bit much fabric into your skirt? You could have used half and had enough left for a second dress.
Me: It's more comfortable this way. Not as clingy. And it's cut to be low waste, so you get a lot of bang for your buck.
Mom: ... How much is in there?
Me: Only like 4 meters.
Mom: Of a low waste pattern.
Me: Yup.
Mom: Give me one reason you need that much "bang for your buck".

petition to KEEP STEDE FANCY
yes, to some extent stede’s fancy clothes and knickknacks were probably sources of comfort and a coping mechanism while he was trapped in a rigid society he couldn’t stand, and yes he did give up all his wealth...so i get that there are plot- and character-development–related reasons that people are portraying post-s1 stede as this austere and competent sea captain guy BUT?? stede does actually LIKE fancy things. and Ed likes fancy things too (ESPECIALLY fashion).
If my baby boys make it back to each other, they are going to need an auxiliary wardrobe to the auxiliary wardrobe for all the clothes they will steal/have made. every couturier in every port will be aware of the two fancy, vaguely sketchy dilfs that come around every few months and place huge orders (and also have lots of suspicious mending they need done—things that look like bullet holes but they insist were dropped cigars, lots of “wine” stains, etc)
anyway keep master and commander stede as just a phase pls, and let my boys be happy and fancy together. ty

I'm going to my first fiber fest tomorrow! Help me pick out patterns and decide what to buy!
I've been crocheting for about 3 years now and feel like I'm at a solid intermediate skill level now, which means I'm going to treat myself to some fancy yarns! I've done some looking online at hand dyed yarn and am feeling quite overwhelmed honestly. There are so many dyers and yarn bases and color combinations, and I have no idea what will look good crocheted. Most of the swatches of hand dyed yarn are knit and crochet eats up so much yarn that I have no idea how the yarn would look in a crocheted project, so I'm feeling a bit lost! Should I go for stripes? Speckles? Gradients? Tonals? I just don't know!
I'd really love to make a shawl/wrap in hand dyed wool, but am struggling with finding a pattern so I know how much yarn to buy tomorrow. Does anyone have any crochet shawl patterns that will look good with hand dyed yarn? I'm open to working with anything from fingering to worsted weight and feel pretty confident with most stitches. I would prefer something that doesn't have large sections of open work or lace, but I will conquer crocheted lace if there's a pattern out there that would shine with a hand dyed yarn. I'm also pretty confident with Tunisian crochet and have been eyeing a few shawl patterns from TL Yarncraft recently.
Any recommendations for yarn or patterns is greatly appreciated!
Here are the patterns I've been considering, but I cannot for the life of me decide which one to buy for. Please help!

lowkey, i think this is the best shit i've ever written!!!!
Spock allows himself to smile, to withdraw from pointing out the complicated intricacies of their heartbeats. Instead, he agrees with Jim, concedes to the romanticism of it all and leaves logic in the same place where his shirt is folded. He will take it up once more later, but for now, there is no real use for it when the only thing he knows he needs at this time is the man beneath him.
theres just something about it!!!!!!!! that makes me go!!!!!! !!!!!!! !!!!

I'm bored and don't want to go to sleep yet. So, people who are interested in lolita fashion, what's your favorite print and in which colorway ? (Regardless of the style of the dress/skirt, if you would wear it or if it's a rare print... just the print alone)
Mines are either Angelic Pretty Candy Sprinkles in lavender or BtSSB Blooming Snow White in ivory.

Since I don't have a reliable way to machine-gather my fabric, I've been doing hand-gathering for Cecily's skirt. (Yes I know I can just pin it really small and it'll work, but I'm paranoid that it'll look too much like pleats. Even though it won't. But anyway.)
So, I have about 42 feet of material hand-gathered now into the 4 different tiers of her skirt.
I'm kinda just glad that she's a small actress.
Now to go pick up all the ruffly pink ribbon I have on back order.
