Jijaji Chhat Per Hain completes a century

Sony SAB’s Jijaji Chhat Per Hain has been winning hearts of the viewers and entertaining its fans with its rib tickling content since its inception.

The show that has been enthralling the viewers with its unique yet affable characters recently completed 100 successful episodes. To celebrate this special milestone the cast and crew hosted a special Chhat Chaat Party on the sets.

There was a grand chaat party organized followed by a cake cutting. The cast and crew were having a gala time and enjoying the joyous occasion. All the actors were in a jovial mood and came together to celebrate the landmark moment. The actors that were present at the celebration were Nikhil Khurana, Hiba Nawab, Soma Rathod, Anup Upadhayay, Harveer Singh & Rashi Bawa. The actors indulged in different chaats and ice golas and even tried their hand at making it.

Overjoyed Hiba Nawab who plays Elaichi said, “It’s a big milestone for the entire cast and crew. I am overwhelmed by the love we have received from our viewers. The fans of the show have loved my character and today it’s all because of them that the show is going so good. We wish the show completes another 1000 episodes and we continue to climb the ladder of success.”

Talking about the success of the show, Nikhil Khurana who plays Pancham said, “It feels really great with the amount of love we are receiving from the viewers and the way they are enjoying our show. Completion of 100 episodes is quite a momentous for everyone on the sets. It is a great and enriching experience to shoot for this show and I hope we continue to receive the love and support from our well-wishers.”

Little over 3 years ago, I transitioned to veganism. Quickly I realised a few things related to the vegan lifestyle.

I thought I would share my thoughts as it might help someone else in their journey. I really wish I knew some of these 3 years ago.

Mini Disclaimer: I am not a nutritionist, Nor have I formally studied nutrition. I just use google. While I am confident with my research, I urge you to look into it yourself as I am in no way qualified.

1. Protein is not a problem…

I’m serious it’s not. Online, in person, on TV, wherever it may be as humans we are told we need a lot of protein to survive. This is not actually the case. Yes we do need protein but not quite as much as we are lead to believe.

Now this is just my research, on average a man needs 56grams per day while a woman only needs 46grams per day. That may sound like a lot but in reality if you have a cup of lentils that usually has 18grams just there. If you want to have more protein in your diet that is totally cool. There are times that you will want more protein in your diet, when you are wanting to bulk up/build more muscle or have a deficiency.

There is also a misconception about where you can get protein from. There are people that claim we (as humans) can only source our protein from animal derived products, like meat, dairy and eggs. There are so many foods out there that contain protein, such as: legumes, grains, beans, tofu, nuts, spinach, collard greens, broccoli, corn, artichoke, kale, soya milk.

So don’t worry about protein so much chances are you are getting more than enough.

2. Others WILL have opinions on your food

Unfortunately its something that you get used to… Your food is either strange, gross, smells funny, indelible, not natural or just down right wrong.

Even though you are eating a lasagna that looks pretty much like their food and before they knew it is vegan thought it looked super delicious!

3. Your choices will be invalidated!

Sometimes people will try and invalidate your choices, meals, and crack jokes too.

Annoyingly sometimes people have had an experience with one vegan that was maybe a little ‘pushy’ or just heard something online and have formed an opinion based on this.

Sadly veganism often gets ‘bad press’ this tends to stays in people’s minds. If you do get dodgy comments rise above it.

In the past people have told me that ‘there is no point being vegan because I’m going to just eat two steaks tonight’ or ‘that’s not vegan because (insert random bullshit reason)‘ but its really not worth biting back.

4. Your food does not have to always be Insta worthy….

Nor do you even need an Instagram.

I follow many vegans on insta and their food always has that ‘perfect’ look to it. The photos I post certainly are not ‘grid ready‘ for most people but I post them anyway because its real vegan food and it might help someone.

if you do use it, or any other social media for that matter, I recommend that you follow a few vegans. Social media is a fab resource for finding new products, recipe inspiration and just connecting with people.

5. There are many different types of vegan.

I didn’t realise this at first. I believed there was just one way to the vegan lifestyle, but just like there are many different types of diets that contain meat, there are so many vegan ways of eating.

Just a few are listed below.

Whole food plant based,

Junk food vegans,

Vegan athletes,

Raw vegans,

Raw till 4,

A balance between junk food and whole foods,

Keto vegans.

You need to find what works for you. I feel like a balanced diet works best for me. I find it similar to how I was eating before, just without the animal products.

Social media, YouTube and the internet is such a good tool for seeing the different ways vegans eat, getting recipe inspiration and ideas.

6. Making mistakes will happen. Please don’t beat yourself up about it.

So checking the back of products can be a lengthy process, and sometimes you will miss something. The one that tripped me up when I was a new vegan, is honey. It’s not often written in bold, so while skimming through in a hurry I missed it sometimes.

Hidden ingredients are also a thing. On the veganuary website there is an extensive article on everything you need to watch out for, that may not be labelled such. Carmine/cochineal is often labelled as E120, but red 40 is usually fine.

If you decided to go vegan overnight, or wean yourself into this new not so scary world please don’t be hard on yourself. If you slip up, or feel overwhelmed please don’t be hard on yourself. It’s just not worth it.

Missing cheese, milk, eggs, chicken, or whatever it may be, is okay, maybe try a substitute? You could try and replace that craving with something else.

You have made an amazing choice to go vegan! You really have, be proud of that. Don’t deprive yourself, there are vegan options out there. Some are shit but there are also some great alternatives out there.

7. Eating out or family events will seem harder but they don’t have to be.

Honestly it really does not have to be hard. If you’re eating out with friends or family just take a look at their menu first and pre-plan, or suggest somewhere you know that caters to vegans.

Most menus will have something that can be customized (ie, ask for a salad with no cheese/meat or take butter off a jacket potato). Sometimes phoning ahead can be a huge help as the chef might be able to create something if there truly is nothing on the menu.

If you are having a family get together and food will be served, taking your own dish is always a viable option. You may have the host willing to cook a special dish for you, and if that is the case Amazing! But in reality chances are you will probably need to take your own food.

When you do take your own, take something super tasty. Especially if you’re having a pot luck/buffet style meal, you never know you might just convert someone.

8. Do your research.

This may sound silly but honestly, do it. Although veganism is not that complicated there is a lot of info you should know.

Researching food and having a basic knowledge of what you’re planning on eating is never a bad idea. You need to make sure you are getting enough food and calories for your body and the right nutrients.

There is a website called chronometer that you can track all your calories and nutrients. This really helped me as a new vegan.

Having a knowledge of veganism, and why you are going/have gone vegan is also something to look at because trust me there will be questions…

9. The vegan police.

They are a thing. Usually they are in vegan groups/forums online. Be warned.

What Do I Need To Start A Blog

You have had it up to here. You are tired of scrolling through Instagram and Pinterest gawking over normal people turn their drab life into a fab one. All by starting a blog. Well, it's okay pumpkin. I was in your shoes as well back in 2018. Now, I have worked my butt off to become a successful blogger. So, if you are in the New New phase of blogging and want to know What Do I Need To Start A Blog? This post is for you.

The Steps of Blogging

Before I jump into the resources that you will need to blog. Let's make sure that this is what you really want.

What is You 'Why'

Many people that start working for themselves have the same goal. Which is being able to make a comfortable living and spending more time with your family. But let's dig deeper... Will blogging solve my financial strains?Can blog from home benefit my family as far as time management? Why do I really want to blog? Once you figure out why you really want to blog, your compassion will kick in. Like for myself, I wanted to blog because I wanted to continue working for myself(I am a licensed cosmetologist). But I wanted not only to work for myself but a Star in my own world. I wanted to speak on matters on a public platform, where the public is coming to me for answers. And for me, a blog does just that and more.

Dedication

Blogging is not a walk in the park. I would be lying if I told you it was easy. But as they say, everything worth having is worth waiting for. (It goes something like that, ha!) This is a job where you can't just give up. You have to know your are the CEO of your own brand(blog). You are going to be making the executive decisions and doing all of the work. Unless you hire a virtual assistant.

Consistency

This kind of goes on the lines with dedication. To be consistent you have to be dedicated. You have to tell yourself every day, you got it. I don't want you to think blogging is soooo freakin' hard and you need to stick to your 9 to 5 where you are feeling underappreciated. Take baby steps. You don't have to start a blog today and then make 5 weeks all in the same week and get major traffic coming in. Take baby steps. Start your blog meaning sign up for the hosting platform. This is where the magic happens. You should be completing a to-do list for the week. And make your goals realistic and doable.

The best way to be exposed to as many great producers as possible? Food and Drink festivals of course!

Here’s our round up of the upcoming 2018 Food Festivals in Devon as well as a couple from Cornwall. We’ve included website links for each festival as well as links to our review of the previous events for a feel of what you can expect.

14th April: Cullompton Springfest

1st – 3rd June: Plymouth Flavour Fest

Held at Red Rock Brewery in Bishopsteignton, this newbie to the food scene is now in it’s second year. Driven by the increased interest in UK BBQ’ing, smoking and outdoor cooking, the event features a major BBQ competition. For visitors there will be camping, product stalls, BBQ cooking demos, bouncy castles for the kids, food and drink of course, live music in the barn as well as the opportunity to taste some of the best BBQ in the country.

7th, 8th & 9th September: Topsham Beer and Bacon Festival

This little festival is not all fancy and big – it’s perfectly formed and organised by the guys at The Pig and Pallet/Good Game. A beer tent, some bacon and pork based food stalls, a side loader truck opened up for the live music to perform on, and right in front of The Lighter Inn on Topsham Quay. If you’re local, be sure to pop down for a good time.

This free festival offers a full day of local foodie delights and entertainment. There’ll be over 60 stalls and music and entertainment together with talks, wine tasting and cooking demos.

22nd – 23rd September: The Great Food & Drink Show

This is a brand new show, being held at Westpoint in Exeter, featuring some serious food heavyweights such as chefs Tom Kerridge and Jean Christophe Novelli. I absolutely love this advice from master blogger Seth Godin, who says, “People do not buy goods and services. They buy relations, stories and magic.” Earning trust and being real converts to engagement. It’s not a magic formula, but more folks on Instagram miss this than not.

Do not follow the pack in many cases. Not everything that is online is true (no surprise there). Here are 5 popular Instagram “tips” to ignore.

People tend to look at me funny when I ask them what their Instagram strategy is. How can these folks expect to see results without knowing what it is they want in the first place?

Here’s how to get more Instagram followers.

Proceed with Caution on Hashtags

Like them or not, hashtags have a specific purpose on Instagram. Knowing how to use them, where to use them, how to find them, and where to place them are four of the most important hashtag IG elements to know. Remember, when an Instagrammer clicks on a hashtag, any post that includes the same hashtag will be seen. More popular and more recent posts with that hashtag will show up first.

Over and over, social media gurus cite proper implementation of Instagram hashtags converts to a 12 percent or higher interaction on posts. Being intentional about the hashtags you use is key. Do some research before randomly assigning hashtags to a post on Instagram. Start a spreadsheet if you feel bold: Line that spreadsheet with a variety of hashtags and monitor the performance of them. For example, track #dogsrock or #catlovers, and test the tags for efficacy as they pertain to your overall Instagram goals. Which leads me to….

Define Your Insta-Purpose

What is your reason for being on Instagram, what do you hope to accomplish, and are you offering up your true voice? In the same way you discern what your blog is about, this holds true in the social space as well. Ignore the numbers for a while. Having a dedicated following of 200 people is a whole lot better than having a crickets account of 20,000 people. If no one engages with your content, 20K doesn’t mean much.

Bottom line: Know before you go.

Include a Call to Action in Your Instagram Posts

These are frenetic times in which we live. If you take the time to research the hashtags to use, have a fab image, great content, and are ready to hit publish, ask yourself what you want your followers to do or say. A Call to Action is a statement that encourages your readers to take some sort of action. Knowing how to successfully use a CTA can make or break a blog post or social media image.

Here are four examples of Calls to Action:

Learn (Learn the one behavior mistake your dog might be making.)

Stop (Stop throwing money away and save on cat food here.)

Worried (Take a reverse spin on your CTA. ‘Worried your dog is home alone too much?’)

Find (Find out the 10 most inexpensive places to vacation with your dog.)

Become an Insta-Recruiter

Once people are talking and engaging with you, the next logical step is to grow your community of followers. Drop thoughtful comments into Instagram posts on accounts you like and want to follow you, too. Don’t ask for likes and be considerate. No one likes the pushy person who just can’t take no for an answer. Move on if the person isn’t just that into you. It’s okay.

Repost people’s posts to your account. Leave comments that mean something and show you took the time to read the post. I wish I had hours a day to spend on engaging with people, but I do put aside at least an hour. You can also hire a virtual assistant to do this work for you. Be clear in what the VA’s tasks are and how you want your voice to be perceived online. Remember, you can’t take something back once it’s on social media.

Consider Instagram Pods

This one is a bit more involved and not for everyone, but if you want to try it, be prepared for what an Instagram pod does. Mashable describes Instagram pods like this, “Pods are formed by creating group messages of around 10 to 20 users, usually bloggers, influencers and content creators, with the occasional business in there too. Users are expected to follow one another in the group. Once that’s done, they send over a photo they’ve just posted so that other pod members can like and comment on it. ”

Every pod has different rules and expectations, so be clear on what is expected before joining. The value of an Instagram pod is getting your content seen and liked, possibly with more comments, not long after you post. In getting more like and comments from your dedicated pod, you are essentially ‘working’ the Instagram algorithm so that your content is, in turn, served to more people aka your followers.

Over at JumperMedia, they outline how to start and engage with Instagram Pods. Most of the pods I’ve seen are by invitation, and at this point, I am not in any by choice.

Engagement With Your Followers

Engaging with your followers who take the time to LIKE or comment on your posts is essential for Instagram longevity. Ignoring your engagers and not taking the time to engage with their content is poor social media practice. Take a peek at who LIKES your posts and then go and like their posts and engage with their content. I know, I know, there aren’t 25 hours in a day. This is where the idea of time blocking or hiring a VA helps. Consider one or both.

Today I’m sharing with you guys my “workout routine” I’m going to be going off of for the next couple weeks along with my “meal plan”. Below is the FULL detailed plan! Let me know in the comments if you have any questions xoxoxo

MEAL PLAN: Days 1-3: Detox Prep What I’m eating: 1 HEALTHY balanced meal / day Unlimited water and green tea (unsweet) Unlimited non starchy veggies to snack on Coffee in moderation (no more than 2-3 cups/day) Apple Cider Vinegar first thing in the morning and right before bed

Basically instead of it being called a diet, it’s a lifestyle healthy eating plan. It’s eliminating sugar, processed foods, junk and artificial sweeteners. While only consuming meat/seafood 2x a week and really limiting your dairy intake as much as possible. (LUCKY FOR ME: I’m a dairy free pescatarian so I only consume fish/shellfish no meat or dairy) Each morning you start off with a tea and a balanced fat/fiber breakfast. Then you get a morning snack (fruit). Next lunch you can choose from a healthy plan based protien and unlimited amounts of veggies all day. You also get another late afternoon snack (fruit) in addition to an oz of nuts or a tbsp of nut butter. For dinner you also can consume as many veggies as you’d like accompanied by plant based proteins of your choice such as beans or meat/fish if it fits into your 2x a week schedule.

WORKOUT PLAN: Starting with week 1: Cardio Monday-Friday Alternating 300-400 cals.
