Realistically, if it were Ironwood or Ozpin who sent the message about Salem, I'm pretty sure Remnant would hate them for plunging them into global turmoil.

But because it was the main character, everything was fine and they loved her dearly for her efforts, treating her like a Remnant Messiah.

This reaction from a kingdom that is at the bottom of their luck is odd. Before RWBYJ appeared, there was nothing but grief and hate everywhere, attracting hordes of Grimm to Vacuo. But now in Beyond, everything seems to be perfectly fine and nothing is crumbling. It's just a regular kingdom - that doesn't have a wall, by the way. It's exposed to the outside. The only building that has a wall is Shade Academy, meanwhile the rest of the kingdom is outside it.

I don't understand why everybody has been behaving like it's all peachy.

But what I do find funny is that Team RWBY (or at least Ruby and Yang) still aren't privy to what Qrow and the other adults are up to. Circled back to the secrecy once more, as if Ozpin and Ironwood were right to keep everything hidden.

Because I still have Everything Everywhere All At Once on the brain...

I’m not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but Evelyn never says “my daughter” when referring to Joy. She refers to her daughter as “her Joy” as in her JOY - her happiness. It really emphasizes how the immigrant population puts all of their hopes and dreams onto their children. They always express how they want their children to have what they didn’t, to have better opportunities, and to have a better life.

I think it really hurts Evelyn that Joy is so much like her despite her efforts of providing the best for her. So it makes sense that Jobu would travel through all of the universes to find a version of Evelyn that would understand her and her dissatisfaction with life. So even if Evelyn couldn’t pull Jobu back, at least they could end everything together.

And the fact that the “everything” bagel is a metaphor for Jobu’s depression and suicidal thoughts and yet “everything” sounds so close to “Evelyn”. There’s even a scene where Jobu says, “Evelyn, bagel!” when trying to get her to jump into the bagel with her. Because Joy’s unhappiness really comes out when she’s with her mother Evelyn, who is so similar to her (aimless and in a relationship that isn’t accepted by their parent), yet can’t understand her.

Am I overthinking things? Probably. Will I continue to think of this movie and pick it apart? You bet your ass I will!

I’m not responding to this post directly because I don’t want to pick a fight and this person gives off the strong vibe of someone who does not want to hear a contrary opinion--and in fairness, why should they want to from some internet rando like me?--but there was one in the tag for Everything Everywhere All at Once celebrating the movie “says” that villains look like cops, IRS agents, and entitled white women with dogs

and I just

It really goes to show you how much what a film says is based on what the viewer brings to it rather than what’s in the text, because EEAAO is so intensely (and, the directors have said, intentionally) a film that wants you to imagine other people more complexly and look at them with compassion, where the climax revolves around helping these people (and goes out of its way to humanize the IRS agent in particular) and watching this movie and thinking any part of the point is that the people Michelle Yeoh beats up in some scenes look like kinds of people you have already decided are bad kinds of people is just kinda sad

#Everything Everywhere All at Once #people see whatever validates the opinions they already have #which makes it really hard to motivate myself to keep being a creative #which is the exact opposite reaction of what EEAAO does for me #so yeah I have complex feelings about this #feel free to not interact #you have no more obligation to air quotes educate me than I the OP of that post #I'm just putting this out there
