Zhongli the F2P
The most relatable out of the bunch because this man is still broke and can only rely on the primogems he can farm. And he had a LOT. The one thing he doesn’t have a lot on, however, is his luck.
So how did he manage to pull you?: Well after exhausting all his primogem on your banner with nothing but weapons and other characters, he has lost his resolve. But by some weird luck, there was a character bug that was fixed and in his email was the almighty consolation primogem. Enough for ONE pull. And by the Gods he FINALLY got you.
He’d nonchalantly post his screenshot of pulling you using a single acquaint fate in his friend group without any words and everyone else just loses their shit. “You got them in one pull?!” “Yeah” A riot.
This was partnered with the fact that not only is Zhongli an F2P player, but also barely has any five star characters.
He looks calm and apathetic over the news, but behind the screen he’s exhausted and relieved, silently livid.
He has no primogems left to squeeze for a constellation so you’re instead pampered with the best weapon suitable for you (because that’s all he keeps getting).
Zhongles spends most of his time farming for materials to quickly level you up, unlocking all your stories and voiceline, but he fucked up on your build (his artifacts are messy).
He follows communities, forums and videos regarding your character to know all the things he needs to perfect your build. You can barely make a dent against normal mobs, so he knew he was doing something VERY wrong.
Is the type of person to keep refreshing the page for new content, very updated.
Ask him a question about your character and he’s gonna bring you the word vomit that is his research. He’s not gonna stop- probably accidentally developed a copypasta for you.
Also follows your VA in both Tiktok and Twitter to indulge in every bit of content. He also has that screenshot of his pull saved and locked.
On his birthday, a friend of his gifted him a chibi plushie of you and he has treasured it ever since, treating and handling it like its a figurine.
“It is merely pure luck and grace from the gacha gods that I got this character, and I will make sure that they know I am very grateful for this fortune.”

Childe The Whaler
This lucky wealthy bastard with no remorse for his money whales for EVERY character. He’s making a collection, which is to get all the characters, especially the five stars. So when your banner finally popped up, he’s gonna square up and trigger a whole ass meteor shower.
How he pulled you: Money. His luck with this games are actually not the best so he always compensates with money, he got you halfway through the first failed pity, almost giving him a heart attack that he might actually break the bank just to get you.
And then he pulls more to raise your constellation lol.
The first thing he does is look over your character info and read through it all; constellation infos, your base stats, artifact compatibility.
At the end when he’s maximized everything, he would then focus on playing around with your character *coughs climbing noises coughs*
He thought you’d just be another part of his collection but playing with your character was very enjoyable and in-line with his playstyle- oops 100 screenshots with the Kamera-
Any and all merchandise that he fancies would be his, and he’s definitely flexing it to the other sweetie nerds who call themselves simps. He’s fighting for the simping title, and he’s currently neck and neck with this fanartist in Pixiv.
Speaking of that fanartist, he definitely commissioned an expensive and detailed portrait of you, full rights and everything. No one else was allowed to use it but him.
Was also the first one with the audacity to call out your VA to create an account on Tiktok to create more content with your voice. He was successful.
His obssession also comes in the form of self-indulgent contents, and had been keeping track of the ship wars happening. During conventions, he cosplays as the character shipped with you the most (or the character he thinks should end up with you).
Silently scrutinizing those who cosplay you, only ever taking pictures with/of the best looking one, sorry haha
Definitely flaunts that you are his waifu/husbando and will fight for best girl/best boy during debates or polls. Has mobilized the community to vote for you once. He’s very persuasive.
“Hm? Why I’m just the best collector in the game, and I am more than happy to let everyone know that I am their number one fan haha, everyone who claims otherwise is definitely wrong!”

Ganyu the Employed
Ganyu, our dearest overworker, is one of the players in the older stage who actually has a job but still plays Genshin for their past times. The gorgeous sceneries and the music is her main focus in playing the game, not much of a try-hard but still decent in the combat mechanics.
How she pulled you: You came home within 50 pulls! And you appeared again after another 10 pull! Ganyu was so SHOOKT and so distressed because oh goodness, what does she do? She doesn’t know anything much about you!
Will rewatch your three trailers to try and understand your skills better, ended up saving the soundtracks from them because that was such a nice trailer music! Tnbee gains a new follower!
Ganyu will take a while before she can properly play or build you up because she’s so busy with work, she only ever plays when she feels fully done with her work.
During her break she plays with your character while multi-tasking on eating, earphones plugged in and sight on the phone as she farms materials and artifacts for you.
The moment she gets more help from her player friends tho, holy shit, you just ended up being so OP. She had so many good artifacts and weapons for you because she didn’t know what they were for before.
She loves how you’re so easy to use and can easily solo the enemies and even the boss fights. A huge breather, because now Ganyu can cheese the battles that takes a while, to give her more time to focus on the storyline and lores.
Since Ganyu plays for the story and aesthetic, she’ll find you almost always in her team. Still very proud of her pull, she makes the best screenshots of your fights or in the best angle through exploration.
Treasures you so much she starts talking to her phone- “Ah, no, please don’t fall.” “There’s violetgrass up there, let’s try and get it”
Blushes everytime you produce a sound when climbing, doesn’t change you anyways tho
Hums to your trailer music while working, and if permitted, would have the song on repeat while she buries herself in work. She finds it really refreshing and the time she spends in work miraculously flies by fast when she gets lost in the sound.
At one point, when she was given a day-off or if the convention was on her free time, she attends to look for cosplayers of you and take a picture. No one rejects her because she’s so adorable and cute when asking shyly.
Had brought a decent amount of merchandise, preferably the functional/practical ones like a phone cover, mug or keychain. Also has an earphones clamp with your little chibi self as the holder.
When asked, she would shyly announce that she likes your character the most.
“Their character theme and music really soothes me during work, it feels nice to have them, and I have not once regretted ever pulling for them. They are the best.”

The Rebel Princess - Final Review (SPOILERS)
I tend to be quite critical right after I watch the finale of a drama since emotions are high, so my review might be a little harsh. My feelings might simmer over the next few days while I digest things, but for now, I’ll break down my impressions into 3 parts: The “Good”, The “Didn’t Make Sense”, and The “Could Have Been Better”.
The “Good”
The final scene. That’s the first immediate good thing that comes to mind. That’s probably the only good thing tbh. To be clear, these last 5 episodes weren’t bad. Everyone got their comeuppance, our leads live happily ever after, and Wang Su finally sees the light and goes against Daddy Wang by saving baby Jing’er. But, there were quite a number of things that frustrated me while watching.
I will note one other good thing, which is that we got to see our favourite OTP act out a show to misdirect the rebels in hiding and lure them out. We finally get to see our leads collaborating and putting their smarts together! But, this meant that they had to separate again for the millionth time in this drama. And even though it was just an act, the fake confrontation scene between them still stung. As a trashy romantic, I wish we got to see more scenes of them together, especially towards the end of the drama.
The “Didn’t Make Sense”
But because we finally get to see them work together, I wished we got to see more scenes with them plotting together. This is the first time that they’re working together to uncover a political plot, and yet it’s only relegated to one short conversation scene between them after Awu returns from meeting with her brother who refuses to tell her who’s behind the scenes pulling the ropes.
ALSO, the drama never really addressed how Xiao Qi kind of handwaved Zitan’s involvement in the Neem Yu Shan plot. How did Xiao Qi go from “I need to have vengeance for my betrayed fallen soldiers” to “I need to help uncover the plot against the crown”. It’s kind of implied that Awu might have already told Xiao Qi about the truth before Song Huaien does, but the drama never makes that clear because we never see that scene if there was one. If Xiao Qi learns about the truth from Song Huaien first, does he then talk about to Awu? Again, we don’t know because it’s never shown to us. Instead, right after we see him learn about it from Huaien, it then immediately cuts to the confrontation scene with Awu. BUT, since this confrontation scene was revealed to be planned by them, it means that they’ve already discussed the Zitan problem in private beforehand, and Xiao Qi already knows that Awu knows, but we never see this conversation. It’s also revealed that they’ve long been suspicious of Huaien, but when did this suspicion start? Again, we don’t see this conversation. We just have to guess.
This is just one example of how these last 5 episodes made it VERY obvious where scenes were deleted. A lot of scenes were cut abruptly where one scene would suddenly cut to the next, and you kind of had to infer what happened between those scenes. Things still made sense and you could still follow along, but you could tell that they cut out scenes that would have helped flesh things out and make the transitions smoother.
Villains: Nearly every villain in the drama (Jin’er, Zitan, and Song Huaien) turned back into their “good” old selves again during their downfall. And because of this, it made the finale of the drama pretty underwhelming. Jin’er expressed how she misses the old days to Awu and calls Awu one of the most important people in her life, Zitan sees the light and promises to yield the throne to his nephew and face punishment for his actions, and Song Huaien uses his last dying breath to ask Xiao Qi to take him back to Ning Shuo and how he doesn’t want to be in the capital anymore (when he literally has an arrow to the heart while sitting on the throne he just stole). These characters take an abrupt 180 degree turn when they’ve been blind with envy and hatred for most of the drama. Just moments ago they were shooting daggers out of their eyes, and then suddenly they regret everything they’ve done. Their downfall felt too easy, and their redemption felt even easier and unearned. And Awu forgives all of them (as expected). When she pitied Zitan, I was like, girl, he doesn’t deserve your pity. I get that she needs him to sober up in order to discourage the rebels, but still. He had his own brother killed and tried to have her husband killed. Instead she consoles him like a lost puppy. I know that Awu’s a saintly character, and I’ve talked about the virtues of her character before, but sometimes I wish she’d be a little less saintly.
I think Daddy Wang’s final scene fit most well with his character. He’s defeated, but doesn’t entirely express regret for his actions. Which makes sense for his character. He’s never doubted his decisions all throughout the drama, so why would he start now. Even when Awu asks him if he ever loved her mother, he doesn’t answer her. Instead, he deflects the question back to her to ask if she loves Xiao Qi or Zitan, which is such a laughable question. How is Zitan even still considered a potential love interest for Awu at this point? In response, Awu tells him “此愛非彼愛”. Which I’m still trying to interpret?? To directly translate it, it would translate to “this love is not (comparable to?) love”. I’m having trouble interpreting 非 彼. 非彼 means “not comparable to”. Is Awu saying that this love isn’t comparable to another love? Is she saying that this love isn’t considered love? Love for whom? Is she taking about her love for Xiao Qi and how it’s not considered “love”. Does she mean what she feels for him is more than love, or different from love? Or, does she mean her past love for Zitan isn’t love? Why is her response so vague? Her dad asks her if she loves Xiao Qi or Zitan, and she instead gives him such a dense, poetic response. Maybe my mandarin isn’t up to par to translate these historical dialogues, so I’ll be curious to see how the subs translate this line. Anyway, in the end, Awu asks her father if he would agree to being buried next to her mother, and after ignoring the question for a bit, he finally says that he wants to be buried next to her.
The treatment of women: The Elder Princess and Yu Xiu both sacrificed themselves in hopes of getting their loved ones to stop rebelling. And then Awu pulls the same move with her father in order to remind him what her mother had done in hopes of stopping him. And this was after we see Hu Yao and Nanny Xu needlessly die in the previous episodes. So all these female deaths and sacrifices made it feel like the female characters in the drama are disposable and can be easily killed off by the writers. It just didn’t really sit well with me that on 3 instances in this drama, a female character tries to use herself as leverage against a male character who’s about to commit treason. I’m also still not over Hu Yao’s death at the hands of Song Huaien, and we never get to see a proper burial for her because she’s a minor character, so the drama couldn’t be bothered to show it. The Dowager Empress also had a very anticlimactic end. She was such a major player pre-episode 50, and then suddenly she was bedridden and only heard about palace news from her maid and wasn’t able to exert much influence over the court. It was a little disappointing that we don’t get to see her wield any of her old power again after episode 50.
The “Could Have Been Better”
This might be unpopular opinion but, I think Awu and Xiao Qi kind of lost their spark in the last couple of episodes, or at least, it’s more subtle now. Probably because the plot was focused on bigger things, which I understand. These are the final episodes after all. They’re also a long-married couple now, they don’t need to constantly reaffirm their love to us. And the final scene was sweet, so I shouldn’t be complaining, but I wish we got more scenes of them alone together. I said this in a reply on another post, but their sexual tension peaked during the early episodes of the drama. It’s too bad we don’t see that level of chemistry again.
Something that I found funny was how we see Awu stand next to Zitan by the throne twice to protect him. The setup was almost exactly the same between the two scenes where Awu stands to his right. It was like the writers couldn’t figure out a new configuration for how to block the scene. The first time was during the “pretend confrontation” with Xiao Qi, and the second time was against Huaien. I just felt the the repeat setup of this scene was kind of boring and uncreative to watch. It was like the writers couldn’t come up with another way to stage a potential rebellion, so we’ll just have Zitan be cornered around on the throne twice.
Also, Huaien wanting to suddenly take the throne and also Awu as his Empress? First of all, I don’t understand why people, who don’t have the approval of the masses, always want to become Emperor. Do they not realize that by forcibly seizing power, you’re going to lose it just as quickly because no one likes you and they’ll try to take you down? I have the same criticism for Daddy Wang and Zitan. But does Huaien think that he has enough military power to become Emperor? And unlike Daddy Wang, Huaien doesn’t have any significant political impact over the lords. Also, does he think that Xiao Qi would just never come back? Second, him asking Awu to become his wife? We don’t really see him feeling tortured over his affection for Awu again since his wedding with Yu Xiu, and now suddenly, years later, it’s revealed that he still yearns for her? And he declares his love right after stabbing her dad? I mean, writers, please. I know you want to create drama, but it has to make sense.
To be honest, I’ve always found Huaien’s character arc a little hard to believe. He’s such a noble character for the first third of the drama, and then it’s revealed that he’s always secretly harboured a greedy side. A side that craves status and recognition. He then downward spirals into this monster who kills nannies and female comrades and wants to be emperor. We see small hints of his desire for the throne, like when he eyes Daddy Wang’s tailor-made royal robes. But this desire is not fleshed out enough. Huaien’s arc could have worked, but because the drama didn’t focus enough on his internal struggle at the beginning since he isn’t the main character, the change felt abrupt. I don’t know how the book handled it, so I can’t speak to that.
Things just escalate so quickly in this drama. I can now see AvenueX’s criticisms about the political plot of this drama and how it looks like it could have be written by a 10 year old. The writers seem to want to make things as surprising as possible, while also using a lot of old tropes that it becomes predictable. It’s very unrealistic. And the villains’ motivations and ambitions seem limitless. It felt like anyone could lay claim to the throne.
The political scheming in this drama has never impressed me, so I suppose that I shouldn’t be surprised that these last few episodes were just as lukewarm. The problem with the political plot of this drama is that there were no smart characters except Daddy Wang. It’s just a bunch of drama queens(TM) who want power, but do a poor job of thinking things through.
The highlight of the drama was the romance, which was a huge surprise since I didn’t start watching this drama for the romance. And yet, despite the romance being the highlight, the OTP is constantly being separated, and we barely got to see them together in the last few episodes. And the scenes that they did have together in these last few episodes weren’t memorable. If anything, their chemistry kind of fell apart during these episodes because we barely see them communicate directly with each other.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’d still recommend this drama just for the leads alone. You don’t see that kind of chemistry in idol dramas, and I don’t know when we’ll be able to see this level of acting between two well-matched actors in dramas again. Watching them is almost like a once-in-a-life-timeline thing. However, I think the average viewer might become frustrated with Awu halfway through. The drama’s also very bingeable (in fact it should be binged, instead of dragged on for almost 2 months). I think I would have enjoyed more if I watched all the episodes at once, instead of waiting for episodes as they came out every week, which meant that while waiting, I started to pick apart little issues that I had with the drama.

I don't regret my purchases, but I have received games I have never played like Cubix (PS2) no clue where that game came from, but I have it somehow. Madagascar (Xbox 360) came with my Xbox 360, never opened it from its case. And Monsters Inc. Scream Arena (Gamecube) or something... it was a gift.

Nintendo 64 opened me up to what video games could be as a kid. Sad to say my parents' NES didn't really do that for me. And years later Fallout 3 was a big game changer for me too.

Make sure you don't play it til you get back home!"

Stardew Valley 1.3 (Multiplayer Update) is now available!
This update is a significant change for Stardew Valley… Not only does it include a good amount of new content (new items, events, etc.), but it also includes the long-awaited addition of co-op multiplayer!
More information, INCLUDING SPOILERS, under the cut.
Several months ago, I finished working on the content additions, and turned my attention to finishing multiplayer. Progress on that front came along steadily.
Then, we started the multiplayer beta on April 30. Of course, I underestimated the number of bugs you’d all find! But over the past couple months Tom and I have worked hard to track and fix every known multiplayer bug. And now, it’s ready to go.
Credit must be given to Tom Coxon (of Chucklefish), who wrote all the major networking code himself and turned this fairly complex game into a seamless multiplayer experience! We’ve worked hard to make the co-op experience as fun and intuitive as possible.
I also want to thank everyone else at Chucklefish for all their hard work coordinating this big launch!
Below, I’ll give you a more detailed explanation of both the new game-play content and a more detailed explanation of how multiplayer will work.
First, let me share some of the new content with you. This is not an exhaustive list, and I’m purposely being vague on many aspects because I think it will be more fun to discover these things for yourself:
A traveling festival comes to town
For three days in winter, a traveling festival visits Pelican Town. Unlike a normal festival, farmers can come and go as they please, and the location isn’t “locked out” at any point (there’s no setup). Pelican Town is different for a few days, and most of the townspeople’s schedules change to reflect that. The festival offers farmers a once-a-year chance to acquire unique items, purchase an original work of art from the famous Lupini, enjoy some live entertainment, and more….
A winter mystery… and a new collection type
In winter, farmers might encounter a strange event… which will ultimately grant them the ability to start a new, “secret” type of collection. This new ability will surely result in unusual new adventures and greater knowledge…

There are new character events, some of which grant you permanent bonuses. There are also a couple of “secret” events that you’ll only encounter if certain conditions are met.

Signs
Signs are craftable items which are available to you from the very beginning of the game. Any item in Stardew Valley can be “clicked” onto the sign, and it will display that item (the item won’t be consumed).
Decorations
A variety of new outdoor decorations have been added, including many that are “seasonal”, meaning that their appearance changes with each season. Multiplayer makes decorating even more fun.
Auto-Grabber
Garden Pots
An expensive item that can be placed in a barn and automatically harvests milk and wool from the animals each morning.
Garden pots allow you to grow any crop indoors year-round. Think of them like one-tile greenhouses. When placed outside, however, they only grow crops that are in-season.
New Crop
Fireplaces are now furniture
Hats on horses
There is a new crop that only grows indoors.
This means you can move your fireplace around, and also buy a couple of different kinds of fireplaces.
You can now put hats on your horse. Enjoy… (this was actually an original intended feature in Stardew Valley two years ago, but I never finished it and had completely forgotten about it. Now it’s finally finished)
Now, a more in-depth look at how multiplayer works…
Stardew Valley now supports up to 4 player co-op. Co-op is nearly identical to single-player, but with 1-3 other friends playing together with you to achieve a common goal. Any single player game can be “converted” to a co-op game by having Robin build one or more cabins on your farm.
One player serves as the host, and the other 1-3 players connect to the host in order to play. Therefore, the host must be in-game at all times when the group wants to play.
The new update adds a Co-op button to the title screen. Clicking the button will bring you to the co-op menu, from which you can:
Host a new co-op game
Re-host an existing co-op game
Join a new farm (provided that any of your friends are hosting and have a cabin available for you)
Re-join a farm (provided that the host is in-game)
Join a LAN game (by entering the IP address of the host)
Enter an invite code (generated by the host) to join a game (this allows for Steam/GOG crossplay)
When hosting a new game, you’ll have some new options available to you:
“Starting Cabins” gives you the choice to start a new game with 1-3 cabins pre-positioned on the farm. If you decide to go this route, you’ll have two “Cabin Layouts” to choose from: “Nearby”, which places the cabins close to one another, encouraging a communal farming style, and “Separate”, which places the cabins far apart and allows for more independence.
Alternatively, you can start with no pre-positioned cabins and instead build them yourself (via Robin).
“Profit Margin” adjusts the profit margin of goods that you sell. You can choose between “Normal” (the original Stardew Valley amount), “75%”, “50%”, and “25%”. This is, in effect, a way to increase the difficulty of the game. For larger groups of experienced players, it might be desired. However, keep in mind that there already is some “scaling” of difficulty built into the game, since each player will need to upgrade their own tools, upgrade their own houses, buy bigger packs, etc.
In co-op, all players share the same pool of money, and are working together on the same farm. The state of the game world, including the main storyline, is shared between all players. However, each player has their own private inventory, skills, achievements, collections, relationships, quests, and crafting/cooking recipes.
In general, it’s assumed that co-op games are only being played with people you trust. The game maintains no real concept of “ownership”, since all players are working communally on a shared farm.
When it’s time to go to bed, all players must enter their beds. Only then will the day end.
Players can marry each other by crafting a “wedding ring” (An old Zuzu City tradition), and offering it to another player. If the other player accepts the ring, the couple is now engaged.
The chat box allows you to communicate with each other… with the help of nearly 200 custom Stardew Valley emojis!

Discovering Retro Gaming Part 3
By the October of 2016 my retro room was dismantled, games carefully bubble wrapped and all consoles boxed up ready for the big move. Saying goodbye to my beloved man cave was a little sad not knowing if I would ever have that kind of space to call my own again.
Within a couple of weeks my family and I had settled into our new house and all was well. It wasn’t until this point that I realised how large my retro gaming collection had become. Managing to fill most of the cupboards, a large wardrobe and two shelves in the spare room my consoles and childhood toys were tightly packed away. My umpteen classic gaming magazines and stupidly heavy CRT TV were carefully stored away in boxes in the garage. In fact the TV was so heavy I had to create a complex puppy system in order to hoist the bloody thing out of my attic space during the move.
Feeling a little apprehensive I decided to sell a few of my gaming items. Needing to make space plus knowing I truly didn’t have the nostalgic connection I sold my Dreamcast with games, Game Gear, Nintendo Super Scope, a few Mega Drive titles and my Sega Master System Light Gun with six compatible games. I was considering selling lots more but luckily I came to my senses as I now regret my actions, especially letting the Dreamcast go.
I may have been without a dedicated gaming room but I still managed to play much of my retro collection thanks to Hyperkin’s Retron 5 console which I had received for my birthday the previous year. Setting the system up in the backroom and storing my SNES, Master System and Mega Drive cartridges in a nearby unit allowed me to still keep up with the hobby. Playing on an emulation device did feel like a bit of a cheat but at least I could play a couple of rounds on Street Fighter 2 or blast away a bunch of aliens in Contra 3 whenever I felt the need.
Retro gaming was still growing in popularity so Nintendo had decided to jump in with both feet with their release of the NES Mini. Growing up I never owned an original NES, I wouldn’t get to experience the power of Nintendo until the release of the SNES in 1992. At launch these mini consoles were like gold dust, always demanding high prices on eBay. Luckily I stuck to my guns and after months of searching I finally picked up the console from my local Argos. Now thanks to the NES Mini I had access to some of Nintendo’s greatest titles which I got to experience for the first time as an adult
Though I was still able to have the satisfaction of playing plenty of my old games through the Retron 5, having my collection of classic consoles stored away felt like such a waste. It was time to solve this issue so after a bit of reconfiguration I managed to create enough space in the spare room to install a decent sized IKEA cupboard. Here at least, I could display my consoles out of view knowing I could nip upstairs at any point just to look upon their beauty!
Outside of playing games I was still listening to podcasts, watching my favourite YouTubers reminisce about their gaming childhoods and attending a number of retro gaming fairs in the North. Being able to visit these events and physically handle potential purchases was way better than the minefield which was eBay. So to was meeting fellow retro gaming fanatics like myself. I remember my first retro fair at Leeds town hall, people were actually queuing out of the door to get in, it was insane how popular buying up old video games had become.
Another milestone in the retro gaming scene around this time was the increased interest in old arcade machines. Throughout my childhood any visit to an arcade was a treat. Unlike some, I wasn’t luckily enough to live near the seaside as a kid so the highlight of any family holiday was defiantly a visit to the amusements where I could play the latest arcade games. This is where Arcade club comes in. Based in a three story warehouse in Bury, Arcade Club is a fantastic trip down memory lane crammed full of all the best arcade games from the 1970’s to modern day. After paying a one-off entrance fee all the games are set to free play so you can relive those carefree days of being a kid but without the stale smell of cigarettes or the chance of being beaten up over ten pence!
It was one evening after returning from a pleasant day spent at Arcade Club that I had a heart stopping moment. Feeling a little nostalgic after spending the afternoon playing four player Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles I decided to check in on my retro console collection. On opening the cupboard I was suddenly hit by a strange smell, the smell of MOULD! On closer inspection I could see each of my gaming consoles plus all the joypads had started to develop a thin crust of mould. I immediately went into panic mode, how could this happen, how could my console collection have become infected with mould safely locked away in a new and well ventilated space?
Not wasting any time I was straight on twitter for advice from the retro community. Luckily the community was quick to respond and having caught the issue relatively early I managed to save all the consoles and joypads effected. For the next week I painstakingly dismantled each and every item, gave them a thorough clean and got them back to working order. Turns out the damp had been coming through the outer wall of the house thus spreading to the back of the cupboard and then onto the consoles themselves.
Seeing the anguish and panic I went through thinking I had lost my beloved console collection my partner suddenly had an idea, well more of a revelation really. Knowing full well how much I missed my old man cave and how we simply didn’t have the room to build one within our new house she suggested I had one in the garden. “Why not buy a summer house and turn that into your new man space”, she suggested. As you can imagine I didn’t need much persuasion on this subject. On hearing those magical worlds I immediately started researching ‘man sheds’. It wasn’t long before I had found the perfect structure to purchase, all I had to do now was build it, and build it I did!

Marvel Heroes 2020
The release of Square Enix’s/Crystal Dynamics’ Marvel’s: Avengers is just around the corner at the time of me writing this blog. Before the culmination of the MCU, I was already a huge Marvel fan (Thanks to Spider-man being a big part of my childhood). And after Disney’s “Marvel-naissance”, I was still a fan. Just not as avid as I used to be.
The announcement of Marvel’s: Avengers in 2019 got me curious. I was not hooked, but I was interested. Back then I thought it was just my love for Marvel poking its head out again. So I took note of Marvel: Avengers put it on my list of things to look out for and moved on with my life.
A few months later in 2020 and after more gameplay reveals and exclusive early impression videos that interest started to grow. I still could not put my finger on exactly what made that interest grow but I just went with the flow. And it flowed right into the open Beta for Marvel: Avengers that ran last weekend.
It wasn’t until after playing the game for myself that I realised what got me interested in this game - it was Marvel Heroes 2016: Reborn. Well, to be fair it isn’t exactly. But that’s what the “soul” of Marvel’s: Avengers felt like to me while I was playing (Actually more like a ghost from the past).
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Marvel Heroes 2016 (originally released as just: “Marvel Heroes”), it’s basically Diablo 2 but with... Marvel Heroes. Thus, the title “Marvel Heroes” (jaw-dropping, I know).
I first discovered Marvel Heroes way back before it’s launch in 2012. After getting addicted to the (then) newly release Diablo 3 and then quickly realising that I was in an abusive relationship with it. I needed a better, healthier alternative.
That’s when I found out about Marvel Heroes. A game that was similar to Diablo 2 (not 3), helmed by David Brevik (one of the original co-creators of Diablo) and gave me the chance to play as my favourite Marvel superhero. I fell in head-over-heels for it. In fact, I was so sold by the hype that I purchased the highest tier possible to back-up the developers. A whopping USD200 (If I remember correctly), for a plethora of characters, exclusive costumes and my name in the game’s credits when it released. To my memory, I still have not gotten that excited again for another game release.
Release day finally came and I still remember staying up all night downloading and jumping on to the live servers for the first time. It was 4 a.m. where I lived but I didn’t care. I remember the bugs. There were so many bugs. The servers were a mess and the developers were overwhelmed and had to stay up all night where they were just to keep the servers up and running. I remember them posting in the forums, apologising for the issues and at the same time thanking their fans for support. It was chaos, it was frustrating and it was hell. But for me, it was chaos, frustration and hell of the good kind. I was just happy to finally play the game. It was a joy.
The years went by and I only fell deeper in love with the game. Sure, the critical reviews were not great but I had so much fun with Marvel Heroes. And I bet a lot of other players did too. (Who remembers this legendary Deadpool cracker: “Scarlet Witch? More like Scarlet Bi- Hey! Didn’t see you there!”) The hours I spent in the game became a blur. Marvel Heroes, Marvel Heroes: 2015 and then Marvel Heroes: 2016, with each new update of the game it only got better and better. Something else that got better as the game went on was the community it had. Sure there were naysayers and haters, but after having survived the hellhole that was the Diablo 3 forums, I was in paradise.
Explaining the good times I had with Marvel Heroes would be bereft if I did not mention the community. First of all, it was the first live service game that I played where the developers actually listened to the players. Updates always took into account the community’s feedback and after a point, the developers even reworked some of their more lacking characters according to the community’s feedback. The boss man (David Brevik) would check-in at the forums sometimes, members of the development team also became regular celebrities (if you were part of the community I’m sure you remember our beloved DoomSaw, theDink and a few others) and the players, for the most part, were amazing people (If not a lovably sarcastic bunch.). There was even a player who spoke/typed like Thor. Like, for real, every post they put up or replied to was to the tune of “I feel utmost jubilation upon thy latest update! Another!”. All in all, it was a fairly wholesome community to be with compared to most other games.
After spending 2 and a half good years with Marvel Heroes and it’s the community, life caught up with me in 2016. That year was probably one of the most depressing and deeply challenging chapters in my life and I lost contact with a lot of things. It was the last time I was in touch with the game and its people.
In early 2017 I saw adverts for Marvel Heroes: Omega (a console port of the game). For some reason, I felt the urge to check with the forums quickly. In the forums, there were signs that the game and community that I left in 2016 had changed a bit. There were naysayers about the console port and complaints that the developers had apparently gone silent for a while. But at that point in time, I was struggling too much with my new job to take in more stress. I guess I just needed to see that something I really cared about was still around. “At least the game is still running”, I remember reassuring myself. Then fast forward to 2018 and I discovered that the game had met its untimely end in November 2017. My relationship with Marvel Heroes had ended just as suddenly as I had put in that last sentence. I was stunned.
Now I’m in 2020, typing this blog after I spent a weekend with Marvel’s: Avengers Beta. Playing as the Hulk, Ironman, Thor and Captain America for the first time in 4 years, I couldn’t help but see stark (Not intended. I swear.) similarities between the two games. The loot system where loot is all statistical. You need “costumes” to change their appearance. The skills, especially the skill trees like Ironman’s Laser/Missile routes (To the person that thought of the Ironman rework back in the day to give him these two trees, you are still my hero.). The unique mechanics like Ironman’s unique resource that drains as you use his special moves in comparison Hulk’s unique resource that fills up the more you hit stuff and drains if you do nothing. There’s also the moves like Cap’s shield throw and Thor’s lightning a.o.e. I’m sure to most of you the last one sounded like I just spelled out these heroes’ special abilities like an idiot (Cap throws his shield? Thanks, Captain obvious!). Well, granted it’s hard to see that one unless you actually played Marvel Heroes (For those of you that did - Ironman’s Power Dive = Death from Above. Right? Remember that move? People freaked out over that move when Marvel Heroes was in pre-release.).
So why am I typing this blog anyway? Well, after that realisation I started to miss my Marvel Heroes days. I miss both the game and the crazy community. More so the community. I went online to check and see whether my sentiments were mirrored by anyone else. Maybe to see if I can find a tiny flame of that old community somewhere.
Sadly, there wasn’t any. It’s like everything related to Marvel Heroes disappeared from everyone’s memories the day Thanos snapped his fingers in April 2018. Realistically thinking, it might be due to how Marvel Heroes ended with a terrible taste in everyone’s mouths (developers and community alike. If you are curious, feel free to read up on it online. I don’t want to cover it).
I just wanted state for posterity, that Marvel Heroes existed.
It brought people fun and enjoyment. Despite the way it ended, it existed at a point in time (and always will in my memories) as a family where developers and players had good times and enjoyed good company (Oh shush it, you naysayer. Just let me have this. It’s 2020 for Pete’s sake.). It was and always will be the first game that showed me that some developers can listen to players if they choose to.
If any ex-players of Marvel Heroes somehow manage to find this, I hope the game brought you happiness. Did you manage to find a crazier community? Let me know cause I’m still looking.
If any ex-developers find this. I can never sympathise with what you must have gone through in the end. I regret not being there as part of the community when it ended. I hope things have gotten better since then. And honestly, thank you so much. You did a lot of good in this world to a lot of players like me.

There is a unique dimension of writing to be explored in this gift fic.
It has three parts and every part can be taken separately as a one-shot. But! At the same time, you can combine them all together to get a three part story. I know it sounds weird but I planned it in order to explore a fluff date and angst one and a full with romance one.
All three parts deal with what the receiver wanted the Deckerstar date we all deserved in 2x09.

The Sundance Kid
Darkness was a place Lucifer always felt comfortable in the past couple millennia. It was an enforced comfort where no light was available either way and the bleakness of Hell offered protection and consolation of what he was missing. In the endless corridors made of obsidian, clawed into pillars, stone Lucifer could hide without being disturbed apart from the occasional desperate door banging. Hell was a dimension where expectations evaporated and the only thing pouring down was white ash.
His old realm had stripped him of what was now crawling through his twitching scars and deep into his chest. Sentiment, caring, foolish expectations Lucifer would never be able to meet for her.
The mobile vibrated illuminating the penthouse again stubbornly remaining on the leather armrest of his chair. Lucifer exasperated did the only thing he knew when some of his cruel siblings teased him. He averted his gaze from the light, turning the device upside down and convinced himself it was just another illusion like the many he had had during his stay down under.
How many times had he chased the lights in his imposed position to rule Hell before he surrendered himself to darkness again? How many times Lucifer had wept for the loss of what he had missed most, craved most, loved most.
“Light… Damn it all, light.” He shouted to ground himself in the luxurious penthouse surrounding him and not in the nightmare that threatened to overtake him. That was always left to accompany him back when the darkness was no longer welcome but enveloping to the point of suffocation.
It was a dexterous idiocy that drove him off his couch and in the now descending elevator. Fixing his cufflinks once more Lucifer swore when he released that he would never make it to the restaurant at this time. Friday night with the L.A. raging for a good raving party at that part of the city would mean his car was useless. It was the last message which came at 10:17 on his phone by her informing him, she would be leaving the restaurant when a risky plan was formed. A plan that had no use for a closed vest or a pair of secured cufflinks on his shirt's sleeves.
The air had been cleansed by the recent rainfall washing away the city’s grim along with its misgivings and regrets but lamentably not hers. She had waited, texted and eventually called when the message was clear by his side. It was essentially what made her shiver at the prospect of eventually seeing him again in a few days.
The chill rising from her bare legs to her spine made her slowly curse her need to not only accept his invitation but also appease his appreciation for legs. Resulting to some roommate wardrobe stealing lengths to secure the tight skirt for the night felt like the last humiliation of the day, alas it was not to be yet there was also the possibility of having confused one of Maze’s belts for a skirt which carried a sobering question on her day's decisions.
‘I’m more of a leg man myself’ Lucifer had professed at that ridiculous, plus degrading for women players gathering slash convention not even a year ago. She had remembered, she always did remember his tantalising admissions, Chloe acknowledged pitifully forcing a smile to the valets outside the restaurant.
Grimacing at the dampness of the cool metal under her warm palm, Chloe was already formulating a plan on how her next meeting with Lucifer would go. Tomorrow would eventually come soon enough, in just an hour and a half really, and at noon she would be required to keep a cool charade at court. She would have to pretend that the murderer of her father did not have good chances of being set free nor that the man she was enamoured with had ditched her off probably for a six legged Brittney.
“10:32!” A deep manly voice wheezed behind her.
“Car troubles?” Chloe uttered unsurely at the sight of an always pristine Lucifer panting while sweat fell freely from his flushed face.
Raising his hand in a gesture to give him a moment to catch his breath he let his head fall on his chest gulping down greedily the cold humid air.
Chloe took the chance to study him better. Flustered with his hair an unruly mess, Lucifer had raised his shirt sleeves up to his now flexing by the tension forearms. His vest had been seemingly unbuttoned hastily at some point leaving creases on the shirt's fabric; now stretching from the deep breaths that shook his lanky frame.
If she ever had her doubts before, the man on the 50’s styled bike was definitely that, a man. An adorable and killable man.
“No.” Lucifer squeezed his eyes forcing the negative answer to her previous question.
The pain shot quickly through her body and was undoubtedly flashed in her eyes making Chloe realise what he intended to not to see by closing his beforehand replying.
Puffing his cheeks and letting out a struggled exhale Chloe finally saw his dark eyes glistering by the irritation of the sweat droplets making it into his eyes. Lucifer eyes tremored searching for what he apparently could not find. Swiping both his hands downwards his dry lips, he gruffed a choking sound before he coughed away his throat’s discomfort.
“I-I’m terrified.” He stammered.
Chloe opened her car’s door watching intently Lucifer’s face fall and mouth ‘Oh’ before shaking his head in understanding,
“Yes, of course… I guess… I-I understand.” He smiled at her with a trembling bottom lip which told her that for the love of Him, Lucifer did not understand.
The shutting sound of her car’s door closing and been locked automatically took him by surprise. Chloe was right whatever he had understood was sourcing from a very different experience in the past. Someone had left, or perhaps Lucifer was the one that had been left behind before.
“You are two hours late. I’m wearing Maze’s skirt, and I’m starving.” She challenged him watching the valet’s in front of the restaurant close the entrance for the night.
If the breadstick she had while waiting were anything to go by, it was not surprising that place was always booked a month in advance.
Following her gaze behind him, Lucifer naturally came with a quick swearing retort. She wouldn’t be surprised if they were in the restaurant and occupying the best table in less than five minutes but she wondered if Lucifer would take the hint and downsize his expectations for her promised meal.
“I see…” He murmured cryptically. Meeting her eyes with a dangerous glint shining through his eyes, he patted the handlebars.
“No…” Chloe firmly turned down his offer and reached for her car keys.
“Detective, where we are going tonight, cars are not an option I’m afraid.” Lucifer did not sound one ounce regrettable over her current skirt issue. On the contrary.
Penetrating browns were roaming her figure lingering longer before darkeing impossibly more on her legs confirming what she already knew. A leg-man.
Taking off his vest he handed it to her again urging her on the handle breaks of his bike. It appeared to be a sturdy replica of the Hawthorn bike her father had kept from his father and which was in storage waiting for Trixie now. A flashback from their father and daughter time in the summer before the movie and his shooting had her tempted and considering the viability of Lucifer’s plan.
“To quote one of your spawn’s movie selections last Saturday…-“ Lucifer’s charming grin lightened the road, and it would be blinding if she accepted, that much she did know.
“Last Saturday Maze was on babysitting duty. A suspiciously successful one.” She muttered only now realising why her daughter was sleeping on her appointed bedtime hour, albeit on the couch and only half of her cake was gone.
“Well, thank you! Now, do you trust me?” He offered his hand and the night was illuminated by her grinning acceptance to what it screamed a broken bone by the time they had reached the turn of the road.
Giggling Chloe surrendered herself to the Luciferness which threatened to swallow her whole and turned sharply to glare at him. Letting out a hiss due to the cold mental coming in contact with her bare legs was not supposed to elicit a heartful snicker from him
“You are enjoying this aren’t you?” She accused him, and a deep masculine vibrating laughter boomed in the night.
Her prediction of ending up to the emergency room for the night had not been materialised despite Lucifer’s accelerating speed and the slippery L.A. roads. After a couple of odd turns apprehension bubbled in her chest with her hands fisted tightly around the bike’s handles and the edges of Lucifer’s vest.
“Lucifer?” Chloe demanded to know when the darkness surrounded them both.
“Yes, Detective?” He obeyed instantly but without bothering to answer her silent question.
“Why are we in the underground tunnels?” She felt the bike losing for the first time its balance at her uncomfortable squirming.
“Two hundred more Detective.” Lucifer dutifully replied and started humming not bothered by the complete darkness around them or that neither could see where he was driving them to.
“Two hundred what?”
“We don’t want me to lose count now are we?” He teased her, and she felt the bike slowing down.
The bike came to a violent stop before two hands steady her on the handles again from falling forward. The air was musty but without the odour that the tunes were usually accompanied due to neglect and certain incriminating evidence she had come across as a field officer back in the day.
“Tell me Detective do you sing?” Lucifer asked her curiously before hopping off his bike if the crackling noise was enough to judge from or the hand gently urging her to slip her feet to the ground.
“You brought me here to sing?” Chloe asked at his indecorous suggestion and hit the air around her blindly wishing it would come into contact with something, anything covered in British flesh. Lucifer preferably.
His chuckles echoed eerily in the undermining in length space surrounding them. Entangling with confidence his fingers around hers, he cleared his throat and measured his breaths, foot tapping in rhythm.
“Blue moon you saw me standing alone, without a dream in my heart, without a love of my own.” Lucifer sang with precision which told her it was more for showing off than for whatever he wanted to achieve,
A crackling noise of concrete made her wince as the narrow tunnel was illuminated by a soft light. An exhausted and flustered looking Lucifer graciously gestured her the entrance with a radiating warmth she rarely had seen on his face.
“Chloe Decker, welcome to Nox!”

Fumble Dimension, episode 1: director’s commentary
Kofie Yeboah and Jon Bois recently debuted the premiere episode of Fumble Dimension, a show in which they simulated the death of the NBA over the course of several decades. They kept a diary. Here is that diary.
SB Nation Labs’ new series “Fumble Dimension” started with a new version of Jon Bois’ 2014 “Death of Basketball” article. During the six weeks it took to make the video, Jon and Kofie kept a diary of what the saw. Feel free to read along with the video, or enjoy it separately. Either way, here are the findings.
DAY 1
July 25th, 2019

After months of discussion with my research partner Kofie Yeboah, we have elected to begin the NBA 2K experiment. In brief, we will attempt to create a portal to a cursed world.
Five years ago, I conducted an experiment. I created a 2K player who was as small, talentless, inept, and stupid as possible. Worse than any random person one would pull in from off the street.
And then I cloned this player until there was an entire NBA draft class full of him. And then I fed this draft class into the game’s franchise mode, year after year, decade after decade, until no real-life NBA players remained. The sport of basketball was destroyed.
I have long regretted my failure to keep proper statistics of this misadventure. Equipped with more time, endless spreadsheets, and the simulation expertise of Mr. Yeboah, the two of us intend to fully chronicle this horror.
I would like to believe I am a good person. But is this what good people do?

DAY 2
July 26th, 2019
I am exploring the Create-a-Player mode. A wealth of options is at our disposal. Notably, the mode allows us to select a type of injury a player is most vulnerable to, and how many days it is likely to keep him out of action. For instance, if this is as it seems, a player might miss up to 480 days after sustaining a bloody nose or getting the wind knocked out of him.
Player attributes are all pulled down to 25, the lowest possible value. Tendencies -- as in, the player’s tendency toward a certain shot or behavior -- are another matter. In the experiment five years ago, I set every tendency at 0. I consulted with Kofie, who suggested we set them all at the maximum of 100, just to see what happens. Our reasoning is as follows: fuck it.

The Xbox keeps overheating while Kofie is attempting to create the draft class. It doesn’t want us to do this. Will take a shift of my own later.

DAY 3
July 29th, 2019
Two consoles and one weekend later, I have finally finished out the roster from hell that Jon started. I had to save early and often like this was a term paper that counted for 25% of my final grade. Whenever I tried to change too much data the Xbox One would shut down 2K and I’d have to start over from my last save point. This might be because this is an older version of the console, or this might be a game problem.
Luckily, now that the big building part is out of the way I don’t expect us to have anymore problems like this because our MyLeague will likely run on autosaving.

I wanted to test out the abilities of these players without compromising the NBA rosters so I decided to go to the classic teams.
For the sake of the article I’m not going to spoil how these characters play like so far, but boy oh boy you’re in for a treat.

DAY 4
July 30th, 2019
Before we start simulating I want to give some background on what exactly we’re doing here. We will be using the MyLeague mode and tracking as many seasons as it takes to completely jack up the league. Now NBA 2K tells us that we have to control one team, but they *didn’t say* that we had to be good at it. Sorry, Warriors.
We also will be automating everything we can except for the draft class, which we will import ourselves. Now apparently storylines can be added to the players in this draft class. I have no idea how that affects it so I’m going to say no.
Every season the sim will stop to ask us if we want to see the All-Star team captains. This will be obnoxious at first, but has the potential to be absolutely hilarious. A crazy thing that is in NBA 2K19 is “advanced stats,” which is something that seems mad unnecessary for this but I will welcome it with open arms.
We can also scout the shitty draft class that we put in the game. Now a weird thing I’m seeing is that the scouting report ALTERED the heights and weights of some of the players, so some players actually 5’2, which is BELOW the possible heights we made when we were making create a players. Is this because I put prospect scouting on Auto? There are so many settings in this one that I honestly can’t tell which one changes prospect height. One thing that didn’t change, however is that they all still suck.
At this point in time we are rejecting any rule changes that could potentially be made in the league.
So. During the Draft Combine we found out that damn near everybody had an eye injury and that is considered a serious draft concern. We are not making this up. This is real. In the combine the highest vertical leap was 26 inches. That’s it not ideal, but oddly enough it seems that everyone doesn’t completely suck at jump shots.
NBA 2K has also added Summer League, so we will get to see these players way earlier than expected.
After Season one we have one 40 Overall on the Warriors, He is currently reserve status, but don’t worry D.J. Gatling, Your time will come.
DAY 5
August 2nd, 2019
Season 2:
We are on season 2 of NBAY2K2 and our 40 overall for the Warriors, D.J. Gatling, has already played five games for a grand total of five minutes.
I just want to take the time to shout out Kurt Ryan, who made All-Rookie 1st Team without actually playing a game. We had some productive rookies this year, but they were from our draft class. They consisted of players that were already on two-way contracts. I think we’re going to see a decline of rookie production really soon. Congrats to Jacob Evans III for being named rookie of the year. Yes, that’s a real player, so shout out to him.
In addition to Vince Carter and Jamal Crawford, a lot of our 40 overall players are already retiring, which … fair. 29 teams voted to eliminate the shot clock, but we’re going to override this rule change … for now. Now usually after a season or two the players start to regress or progress. Our 40 overalls aren’t doing either. This is progression purgatory. No one improves, no one declines.
Season 3:
Despite the rookie class and summer league rosters running rampant with awful players, it seems like regular season players have been affected yet. When predicting when the first 40 overall would start/make a major impact, Jon said four years while Kofie went high with eight years. We’ll see who is right in the near future.
DAY 6
August 5th, 2019
Season 4: I’m not sure how long the takeover will take because we have a considerable number of 40 overalls retiring. I’m not sure how efficient the draft class infiltrations are. However, like Thanos, destruction is inevitable. After one month of simulating, the highest total number of minutes for a 40 overall is 2.
However, thanks to another Steph Curry injury, we finally have a 40 overall in the 12-man rotation. The little people are moving up in the league!
Season 5: Holy shit, LeBron James is a 95 overall at age 37.
The Rising Stars challenge seems to have disappeared. I didn’t sim through it and it was definitely in season 4. Maybe we have reached a point where there aren’t enough players to fill out a roster for it. Which means that we are getting closer and closer to the takeover.
Also LeBron retired. Damn. End of an era. He was so good that he got his jersey retired on three different teams! Take that, Kobe.
We are also extremely close to a summer league roster of all 40 overalls. Dammit Cody!
Season 6: After disappearing for one season, the Rising Stars challenge is BACK… wait never mind it disappeared again LOL. So what I’m guessing is happening is that there aren’t enough young international players to make a Rising Stars roster. Which is wild because we totally didn’t take the places hometowns into account at all when starting this. Maybe we can vote to bring the Rookie-Sophomore game back?
Season 7: After six seasons, it doesn’t look like we’re making any real progress right now. The main reason why is because all of these two-way players and G leaguers are coming up and getting in the way of everything.
Season 8: Now we’re getting into a nice simulation routine. Steph Curry is 37 years old and looking like the next star to retire. The 40 overalls are making a slow, but steady climb in the rosters. The team with the most 40 overalls on the roster is currently the Orlando Magic with four people.
It took eight seasons, but we finally have a summer league team with all 40 overall people. Let’s see how this goes.
Season 9: Devin Booker JUST turned 30. Damn.
DeAndre Ayton just won MVP for the Detroit Pistons. Ladies and gentlemen, we are officially in the simulation,
We’re also, one year away from a new CBA and a new TV deal and I don’t know what that means but it’s about to go DOWN.
Season 10:
So remember earlier when we had a player make the All-Rookie team without playing a game? Now we have a player on the All-Rookie 1st team that isn’t even technically on the team. Yes this guy has a contract with an overseas team and is ineligible to sign a contract for a year and STILL made 1st team all rookie. Wow.

August 6th, 2019
Season 11 continued:
So over the course of the season the 40s’ minutes would fluctuate due to injuries and stuff. Here’s an example of the Warriors roster when it’s full of injuries. This is crazy.
Side note: The Xbox One crashes are BACK, baby, making this simulation twice as complicated as it needs to be. Great. Help me.
DeAndre Ayton has won his third straight MVP award and I don’t know how to feel about this.
Season 12: It’s all going to shit. The Warriors team we’ve been keeping a close eye on has to start a 58 overall shooting guard because all of the 40 overall players are Centers. Curry, Harden and Cousins are gone and now the NBA is damn near unrecognizable. There are only three free agents in the 70s range. The rest are all 40 overalls, baby.
I’m sure this specific team wouldn’t be ass if we actually let them make awesome free agency moves. We however, have sat back and watched the fireworks.
Also. I’m sorry.
Season 13:
The 40s are starting to show promise as rotation players. No one knows how this happened or why it happened, but the end is near. We’re getting phases of play with multiple 40 overalls on the court at the same time. Their impact and footprint is growing ever so slowly.
Season 14.
The Warriors now have a 40 overall as the 6th. Guys, this shit is about to go nuclear. We are at the point where 2K is making up undrafted players that are better than the 40 overall rookies. Because this:

I had to make sure that the draft class wasn’t contaminated or that there wasn’t an error, but no. 2K is making up undrafted players to compensate for the fact that we made them all centers. Which is another thing that we weren’t expecting this time around. Well played, 2K. Well played. Also our Warriors team is 7-75 on the season. You love to see it.
I think all of the contracts except for two players ran out because in the offseason it looks like this now.
Season 15: As confirmed. NBA 2K is making up undrafted players, but no worries because we now have our first 40 overall in the STARTING LINEUP. HELL YEAH.
There is a new season fill roster option which will automatically sign players to fill roster to the NBA minimum. Jon thinks that the players are SO bad that the NBA teams refuse to sign them, so NBA 2K makes up players. Let’s put this to the test.
At the end of the season, there was a prompt for me to fill out the rest of the roster with players. I have 12 spaces to fill. I choose not to do it and the game crashes multiple times because I can’t sign anyone. They wouldn’t take my offers. Help us.
DAY 9
August 8th, 2019
With Kofie out of town, I’m reviewing his video files. In particular, I am recording the PER of every player over the years who has played enough to qualify for the stat. This requires hours of manual data entry. It is almost unbearably tedious. But it is worth it.
Thus far, I have recorded five seasons’ worth of PER data. I have plotted all five seasons, arranged from best to worst player.
There is no meaningful difference to be observed so far. This is my prediction: once it changes, it will change very quickly and dramatically. This will not be gradual.
We’ll continue to see key retirements in the coming years. But if a player can hang on for long enough to stand as one of the only giants left in the league, his PER will skyrocket. Perhaps to the 40s or above.

DAY 10
August 12th
I’m back from being out of town and I want to try to solve the undrafted player effect. My hypothesis is that this is because we made the draft class all centers. I’m making a second draft class and spreading out the positions to see if that fixes our 2K problem, but for season 16 we’re going to keep it as is and not change the overalls of anyone 2K added for us.
Our Golden State Warriors went 0-82, which has to be because we don’t have a single real NBA player on our roster. This is incredible. The All-Star rosters are giving us players we’ve never seen before.
It’s also of note that after nothing but centers for 15+ years, not a single center was drafted in this year’s class.
Season 18:
It seems like changing the positions helped stop the 2k created player influx because now the Warriors only have 1 non 40 overall on the roster. The 60 overall was a 2K-made-up player, but we seem to be getting closer to the apocalypse.
The All-Star teams look wonky, as a character named Ivan Radja is the All Star Captain now. I’ve also decided to watch the three-point contest and dunk contest this year. A 37-year-old DeAndre Ayton won MVP again. I predict that him retiring will be the true last domino to fall. He’s only a 75 overall now, but he’s dominating the league.
Season 19: At last, we have a team with all 40 overalls so we tried a game against a team that didn’t start any of them, and holy shit we got waxed.
It looks like we’re going to have to wait out the players 2K made up in our stead for this to be a fair fight. This also marks the first season where the MVP isn’t an actual real player. The MVP of the league was a 66 overall. For context, that’s the same overall rating as Kyle Collinsworth in today’s game.
Season 20: This is where it gets interesting, because there are teams with a lot of 70 overall players and teams with only 40 overall players. Jokic and Giannis are on our coaching staff and they’re easily better than anyone on the roster.
Day 10
August 12th
I just noticed that DeAndre Bembry is rated 92 overall in Season 8, making him one of the best players in the NBA. The prior seven seasons he barely played at all, or at least not enough to register in the PER column.
Reader, I will be honest with you: I could not remember who DeAndre Bembry was, and until I saw that he had an actual photo, I’d assumed the game had made him up.

Day 11
August 13th.
Season 21:
We are just waiting for the eventual cascade of phasing out the not good players. As one of the teams with all 40 overall players, we are on a steady diet of not only losing games, but getting destroyed in each game.
Now, I also discovered something. It seems after the free agent period is simmed every year no free agent deals were made. All of the team rosters only had 2-3 players on it. It seems like 2K then takes the first 12 players available *by rating* and gives it all to one team and then the next best overall goes to the next team and this happens in alphabetical order, so by the time the Warriors have a chance there are only 40 overalls.
This also happens every year as the people 2K made up have 1 year contracts while the draft classes that we made get rookie deals. This means that our Warriors team will be terrible until the playing field is level… so like a decade?
Season 23-26: We’re making progress on the simulation. As more and more players are retiring the playing field is evening out and the Warriors look like they are winning more games.
Season 26: the Golden State Warriors made the playoffs, winning only 28 games. This caught me so much by surprise that I didn’t realize it until the playoffs were over. Meanwhile the dominant Philadelphia 76ers went 79-3. In fact, FOUR teams won 70 games in the EASTERN CONFERENCE ALONE
Season 28:
The Golden State Warriors are third in the Western Conference with a grand total of 38 wins. Jesus, the Western Conference is atrocious.
Season 29: Holy shit, the Warriors finished .500. We’re getting closer.
Day 12
August 14th.
Season 30: The Warriors won 45 games this year and LeBron James has retired from the league again, this time as an assistant coach!
Season 31: The Most Valuable Player is a guy named Daniel Mills, who averaged 5 points and 35 rebounds a game. A 6’9 34-year-old who went undrafted. This is a 2K-made-up player who is still dominating the league because he’s just tall. In fact, there’s a huge spike of rebounds per game across the board.
Is this what the 1960s were like?
Season 32:
The Philadelphia 76ers went 82-0. YUP, 82-0. They also went 82-0 the season before. Jesus.
Want to see their roster?
Yeah. That’s all it takes now. They also went 16-0 in the playoffs.
With that being said, the total dominance of one team means that the 2K fill-ins are getting phased out. We’re so close. Hang in there, NBA. 5 of those 76ers players retired after this season. This might be the final straw for the good players of the league. Stay tuned.
Season 33:
Only three non-40-overalls remain in the entire league. Of course, they’re all on the 76ers. Sam Hinkie was a genius. Let’s see how a game between our Warriors and the 76ers plays out.
Meet Johnathan Bucker.
He’s the only 6’10 player left in the league, and he’s getting all the rebounds. He’s only 50 overall. After all of this, he didn’t even make the All-Star team because he suffered a right ankle sprain. Of course.
Well, there’s only one thing left we can do: try out the three point contest. Oh dear God.
The dunk contest isn’t better. It’s just a bunch of players glitching out and only getting 30s. Because they don’t even look like they’re dunking. Adam Silver needs to change that shit.
As expected, Johnathan Buckner wins the MVP as a 48 overall, averaging 43.8 rebounds a game because he’s tall as shit. He’s also 37.
Season 34: We have finished the job. The infiltration is complete.
Season 36: This is the year I’m going to start installing 0-tendency guys into the game to see just how shitty this can get.
Season... I don’t even know anymore. The year is 2055: It seems that the 0-tendency guys infiltrated our roster in no time at all.
All is... won? No that can’t be the saying.
Season I have no idea: This is the All-Star game. The funniest part about this is the NBA 2K broadcasting crew pretending that nothing is different.

The Warriors win the NBA Finals again, but at what cost?

Winter Brawl 3D Wrap-Up!
Greetings all! With Final Round on the horizon this weekend, the wake of news involving the official start of the competitive Tekken World Tour season, as well as the Capcom Pro Tour being in full swing, I wanted to take some time to go back to Winter Brawl as I have had yet to tell my thoughts on the event!
Three weeks ago. I know. Winter Brawl was three weeks ago. But! Time flies! I needed that time to soak it all in considering how fast that weekend came and went. Now that enough time has passed, I feel I can put my thoughts and everything into words.

For starters, getting there was pretty painless considering it was my first time in Philly in a very long time. I recall the last time I’ve been to Philly was UPenn, way back in high school on a college trip. I arrived there Friday evening with my good friend unexc1ted and was shortly picked up by our other good friend Big Dame. Shoutouts to both of you guys honestly. The latter for giving us that Philly hospitality and the former for being my ride or die that weekend.
In any case, that Friday there wasn’t much action aside from running some sets in Tekken with my boy. It was then I realized something different. Something I didn’t realize until I had my pools the following day.
My matches weren’t anything worthy of note. I lost clean to a really good Nina player who I’m notoriously known for having a bad matchup with. The Nina in question was always on top of me and I had no response to anything she did. I simply froze at the offense. My first match in losers was against an Akuma player who, honestly, I struggled closing out way more than I should’ve.
SO MUCH SO that I got hit with TWO, read, TWO Raging Demons!
I won that match and advanced, but it was then that last night’s session, me falling for things I shouldn’t have, and the following match when I played against a solid Claudio who did moves in which I knew what to do but did the wrong thing to punish. All of these comedies of errors confirmed that I was way out of sync.

I’ve really, in that instance, lost whatever passion, drive, and motivation I had coming into Tekken and maintaining that energy to win.
I didn’t find the game fun and enticing to me as I did that one Summer day in 2017 when I made top 16 in Defend the North.
That one day when I was one win out of my pools in Combo Breaker last year.
The game evolved in more ways than one, people had evolved to.
I was stuck in first gear while everyone else were already drifting corners around the track.
Needless to say, while my face showed that I was cool and calm, deep down inside I really wasn’t. I hated that I didn’t have that passion anymore. I struggled to find that passion again, and forcing myself to enter a tournament that I had doubts in doing well in to begin with wasn’t the way to go. Alas, after talking to one of my closest friends over the phone back in New York, I regained myself.
I have nothing but love for Tekken and I always will. It was the first fighting game, Hell, one of the first video games I’ve ever owned and played. A lot of memories were shared playing the game casually as a kid and since the very beginning, I always wanted to take a character that was perceived as a “spammy noob dishonest character” as high as I could take him. Eddy always had that stigma even back in Tekken 3 days, so initially I wanted to use him to show others “Hey, people can take this character and work miracles with him!”
Other players had done a far better job at it than I was able to. Guys like Spero Jin and JeonDDing took capos to a global stage that I could ever dream of achieving. But as much as I look up to them, I still want to do what I can to carry him in my own way in my own style. My love for Eddy as a character justifies that.
However, I’m going on a tangent here. As I said in the previous article, that’s going to be another post for another time. I’m sorry for all of the teasing, but, in due time when I feel ready to talk about why I love capos, I will. Promise.
After I had got off the phone with my bro (Thank you Ryuichi if you’re reading this), I decided to make the best of the situation. Sure, I went 1-2 in Tekken and did abysmal, but I had another tournament to look out for. A tournament I had no idea how I would do.
I admit. I initially signed up for the tournament because it was the low price of $Free, but I always had love for the Dead or Alive series as a whole. While Tekken 3 was my first fighting game as well as my first game I’ve ever owned, Dead or Alive 2 was way more appealing to me in every single way.
Eight-year-old me didn’t know it at the time but the Sega Dreamcast was an impressive system, especially compared to the Sony Playstation which was the only other console I had at the time, due to the Dreamcast being of an entirely different generation. Generations of consoles, Dreamcast’s competition being the Playstation 2, none of that mattered to me.
Dead or Alive 2 knocked Tekken 3 out of the park, since that was the only other competition, again, eight-year-old me saw at the time before I knew how console generations worked, in graphics and gameplay. This also includes how the characters looked, displayed emotion, and above all else the story!
Fighting games having a story! A very convoluted story with questions that refused to get answered until the following games, but still! It had something!
The last fighting game I played prior which had any molecule of a story was Street Fighter Alpha 3, and considering at the time “eight-year-old” me did NOT understand the Street Fighter story (I am twenty-six and I still don’t fully understand it myself…) Dead or Alive’s story was a breath of fresh air.
Every character had an individual story to tell which all revolved around the main story in one way or another, and every character had something unique to bring to the table. It wasn’t until Tekken 4 that Namco started to put the same emphasis on story and character personality, but DoA 2 would be the last game I would play for almost eight years.
I couldn’t play DoA 3 because it was Xbox exclusive, and when I eventually did get a 360, I joined the DoA 4 train a tad bit too late. While I did play Dead or Alive 5, it followed the same vein as Tekken 6. I dabbed online for a bit, but never took it to competition levels, something I regret not doing during my college years. However, much like Tekken 7, I wanted to get into Dead or Alive competitively as my second favorite fighting game growing up.
So I was all but excited to see how I did, with my very limited knowledge from 4 and 5, entering the first ever Dead or Alive 6 tournament. I always considered Dead or Alive an entirely fun game to look at on a high level, but I never knew how much in depth it was in playing the game until I was given a crash course by Dead or Alive veterans an hour before the tournament began.
At the time of this writing, I have actually picked up Dead or Alive 6, so, my thoughts on how deep the game is had only amplified after playing with it for two or so weeks. Expect a review on the game very soon, in fact. It’ll be exciting!

Back to the tournament, a huge special shoutouts to Sly Bass for giving me the time to coach me as well as putting me on to the Dead or Alive group on Facebook. The community, from the various players I’ve met, were all helpful to me in their own ways and I am thankful they accepted me in open arms.
However, all three, count, three matches I’ve had were all on stream.
Somehow, I was able to get away with murder and win my first match on stream. Even though I lost the last two matches on stream, for someone who didn’t know what they were doing, I almost graced top sixteen. Much like Tekken, however, I wanted more. I hungered for more. Every chance I could get I played as many casuals as I could after the tournament. I sat down and dissected the game. I was entranced.
It was a running joke among my friends that I was becoming a “professional Dead or Alive player” much to my chagrin, as I only wanted to enter because it was free and a new experience, but it was fun. Too fun. I was enticed. I guess, as you could say, I really did become a Dead or Alive player overnight.
The next day, Sunday, was finals day and I saw all three main events. Tekken, Dead or Alive, and Soul Calibur. The Tekken tournament was intense with the finish being as emotional as ever.

Before I close out my thoughts and experiences, I wanted to touch upon the amusements that were available outside of the main tournament hall. Alongside refreshments and a small arcade gaming room, where they held a Windjammers tournament among others, there were several vendors, including my friends over at Keito Krafts who I’m happy to have seen again, meeting them back at Summer Jam.
Among these vendors which caught my eye, was a booth with a diverse amount of stickers.
So. Much. Dedication!
The first thing that drew me in were the amount of King of Fighters stickers, ranging from various characters, but also their specific versions in relation to their outfits. I don’t think there was a single outfit or character from King of Fighters that were looked over, and considering how many games and characters were introduced in the twenty-plus year franchise, that’s a tall order.
I was able to give a quick interview with Saltamiya, the woman behind the booth, while her assistant helped customers in the background, but it was evident even prior to the small interview that with her being her first ever vendor experience at any event, that she was excited to be a part of the scene.
One thing I always felt about the vendors in conventions and especially in fighting game tournaments, is that they are often not paid as much attention to. Vendors featuring in art, stickers, charms, keychains, and other creative craftsmanship is an integral part of the FGC. It’s what we use to express ourselves while simultaneously supporting the artists and their work and dedication as well.

All in all, it was a very great event. The event was well run, and for it being my second Big E tournament, I love how grassroots it is. I feel like I’m at a local, at home, even if I am several miles away from home. Even the staff who were helping run the tournament ensured everything was ran smoothly and all reasonable accommodations were met. Unfortunately I will not be able to attend April Annihilation, and Summer Jam is looking like a maybe for this year, but for my first tournament of the year it was met with a lot of self reflection.
I’m sure by Combo Breaker, which will be my next major, I’ll have it all figured out by then.
However, this will not be the last time you’ll hear from me for a while! You’ll be hearing lots! Thanks once again to Big E and the staff for making the tournament a blast and best of luck to everyone entering Final Round, April Annihilation, and others in between!

Bungie Weekly Update - 5/25/17
This week at Bungie, our ears are ringing.
Last week was an experience in sensory overload. The aircraft hangar that our friends at Activision built for the celebration was booming. The response from the community has been thunderous. You honor us with your enthusiasm for new action.
Ever since the first reveal at the end of March, we’ve been hyping the “Destiny 2 Gameplay Premiere” on the Internet. Inside our studio, the entire operation was codenamed DRE (or Destiny Reveal Event). The games that were played in that fateful airport hangar came from the DRE Build. The presenters who took the stage ran a gauntlet of DRE Rehearsals.
We knew this moment wouldn’t be complete if we couldn’t share it with our community. If you made the trek to join us, we were humbled and awed to hear you roar as your favorite Class activated a new Super for the first time. If you piled into the stream audience to make the chat run like a raging waterfall, we thank you for helping us to break the internet.

With all the lights and noise and games and conversations behind us, we can safely say that DRE is something we’ll never forget.
Destiny 2 Game Director (and Master of Ceremonies) Luke Smith has his own recollections from the center of that storm.
Last Thursday was a blur. Amidst the fuzzy lines, a few moments crystallized and burned into memory.
I’ll remember the tireless effort on the part of the crew who was there all week building out the hangar, Steph the stage manager helping us prep, the team running the teleprompters (which none of us had ever used before), and a ton of other folks who made that event go.
I’ll remember the conversations with guests sharing their own stories of what Destiny meant to them, their friends, families, and communities. It’s another jolt of energy as we enter the final months of Destiny 2’s development.
I’ll remember the moment I walked out on stage for the first time for the rest of my life. And the text I received from my mother after it was over wondering if she should “get into these Destiny games when I retire.” She’s 61, and I hope to still be making them when she hangs up her scrubs.

Code Words
As we moved through the crowd of Guardians last week, many of you asked important questions about how Destiny 2's networking model will work. The technology we use to bring players together in the world of the game touches on so many crucial topics. We know that you’re curious about everything from how your shots land to the protective measures we’ll take to keep the community ecosystem safe. These topics deserve careful statements from the people who own the code, and a noisy aircraft hangar isn’t the best place to do them justice.
Now that the dust has settled and the ringing in our ears has started to subside, I sat down with Matt Segur, Engineering Lead on Destiny 2, to get some answers for you.
Matt: We've seen a lot of people asking about how the networking model works for Destiny 2. Many are concerned by our announcement last week that Destiny 2 doesn't have dedicated servers. While that’s useful shorthand, the full answer is more complex because Destiny has a unique networking model. Rest assured that we’re doing a lot of testing right now with players all around the world, and working hard to make sure that your experience is going to be smooth on launch day.
So why no dedicated servers?
Matt: Every activity in Destiny 2 is hosted by one of our servers. That means you will never again suffer a host migration during your Raid attempt or Trials match. This differs from Destiny 1, where these hosting duties were performed by player consoles and only script and mission logic ran in the data center. To understand the foundation on which we’re building, check out this Destiny 1 presentation from GDC. Using the terms from this talk, in Destiny 2, both the Mission Host and Physics Host will run in our data centers.
Wait, so we do have dedicated servers?
Matt: We don't use that term, because in the gaming community, “dedicated servers” refers to pure client-server networking models. Destiny 2 uses a hybrid of client-server and peer-to-peer technology, just like Destiny 1. The server is authoritative over how the game progresses, and each player is authoritative over their own movement and abilities. This allows us to give players the feeling of immediacy in all their moving and shooting – no matter where they live and no matter whom they choose to play with.
Why peer-to-peer? Are we trying to save money?
Matt: Nope! We've invested heavily in new server infrastructure for Destiny 2, including using cloud servers for gameplay for the first time. We really believe this is the best model for all of Destiny 2's varied cooperative and competitive experiences. Engineering will always involve tradeoffs and cost-benefit analysis, but as a team we’ve got no regrets about the unique technology we’ve built for Destiny 2.
With Destiny 2 coming out on PC, does peer-to-peer networking put players at risk of being cheated?
Matt: The PC platform poses unique security challenges for Destiny 2, but our security Ninjas have spent several years building a plan for how to engage with this new and vibrant community. We have a variety of top-secret strategies to ensure that the life of a cheater in Destiny 2 PC will be nasty, brutish, and short. And, regardless of what platform you play on, all changes to your persistent character are communicated directly to our secure data center with no peer-to-peer interference.
Does this mean I’ll never see a player warp around the map or shoot me through a wall again?
Matt: We think those controller-throwing lag-induced moments will be reduced for Destiny 2, but we can't promise they’ll be eliminated. Fundamentally, we are trying to strike a balance between three hard problems: (1) make the game feel responsive, (2) make the game accessible to players all over the world, and (3) make the game fair for all. We’ll continue to refine that balance as players engage with the Crucible in Destiny 2.
So what can we expect at launch?
Matt: We have a Beta coming up this summer that will be the first chance for players to get their hands on Destiny 2 and kick the tires on its networking. We have spent a bunch of time working on matchmaking, latency, and responsiveness, and we feel pretty good about it. As with everything we do, we'll be monitoring the situation after launch and reacting to the community's feedback.
To Matt’s final point, the real moment of truth and understanding will come when you get to play. That’s when you’ll know what we’ve built. When you tell us what sort of experience you’ve had, we’ll know too. This is our goal for the Destiny 2 Beta.

“When is the Beta?”
We’re still tracking toward a summer time-frame. We’re locking down dates and prepping builds. As soon we know for sure, we’ll upgrade the Beta forecast from its current status of “Soon” with exact dates.
We hope to see you there. This is the true test. We’ll need every Guardian on hand to help us launch a game worthy of this community.
Mission Status
Supporting the Guardians is a mission that takes on many forms. Last week, the members of our Destiny Player Support team were part of the Away Team for the reveal event, inverting controllers and hooking players up with their first taste of Destiny 2. This week, they’re back to walking their beat on Bungie.net, looking for players in need of assistance.
This is their report.
Earlier this week, server maintenance was conducted to address some backend issues that were impacting Destiny servers. No changes to gameplay were made. If you are experiencing any issues connecting to Destiny since this maintenance was completed, please post a report to the #Help forum listing the error codes you’re receiving when attempting to play.
Additionally, we are investigating issues preventing various activity statistics from appearing on your Bungie.net Legend. We have confirmed that issues impacting Iron Banner Mayhem Clash stats have been addressed, but we are continuing to investigate issues preventing the appearance of stats from alternate activities. Please note the following:
Third party applications that rely on Bungie.net API for stat collection will be impacted until this issue is resolved.
Some previously-completed activity statistics have begun to appear on Bungie.net, but we are continuing to investigate the issue as it may still impact alternate stats.
Once the issue has been resolved, it may take up to 48 hours for all statistics to be processed.
Additional information and updates on this investigation will be provided through @BungieHelp when available.

MAY EVENT
It’s May! The annual Championship event starts and calls for all lions from the surrounding lands to come and participate! A battle Arena was organized in a giant dried gorge for all lions to enter and compete in hourly matches to win Manticora Beetles and other fabulous prizes!
CHALLENGES - earning Arena Tokens
Arena Tokens are needed to enter the Arena and win prizes
- To earn one, you go to Event Page. Here you can press a button - script will pick somebody that is online. Notified by the game, they have 15 minutes to defend - the fight will happen and the token will be granted to the winner.
- If the challenge expires before the person defends, the attacker has a small chance of winning the token still by a surprise attack!
- Anyone online in past 15 minutes can get challenged, even if they are in the kitchen getting a snack.
- If you post in chat but not browsing the game you're still considered being online.
- You can Challenge 1 player every 15 minutes.
- One person can be challenged by multiple people at once.
- Stats do not matter during Challenges, only for Arena.
- Nobody loses any Tokens during challenges, the Tokens are generated for winners by the game.
ENTERING ARENA
The Arena is divided into weaker and stronger lions so you need to enter a proper Tournament based on your stats! You can enter 10 times per hour, as you’re allowed to fight more than one match! The Tournament is going on, and at the hourly peak, the closing ceremony is hosted by judge lions as they announce winners and send out the prizes, based on your score! Don’t worry if you lose, you will receive a consolation prize too! Some are toys or food, but some are just not usable trophies that you can sell (or maybe craft soon? :D). Every win or loss still grants you Manticora Beetles, just different amounts.
*Clarification: During Arena battles, your stats matter and the score is generated using them as base. However, we made it so, with enough luck, a 25 stat lion can still win with a 50 stat lion, it's just less likely.
- the more entries, the higher chance you'll win! but... you spend your tokens fast.
- if you're the only one in your Tier, you still will win consolation prize.
*ARENA TIMERS:
You can enter after 15 minutes peak (ie 3:15 am for example) and you have 45 minutes to enter. At the Peak (4:00 am) the winners will be announced and the judge lions (Lioden server) needs time to count all the winners.
Raising Bars
All the Championship participants work hard to unlock a new Champion Shop where you can spend your Manticora Beetles on rewards! For every win, the special bar will raise by 5 points, and for every lost match the bar will raise by 1 point!
Explore
You can also meet Championship participants and fans in the Explore! Fun! They might give you Manticora Beetles if you win a battle with them! And maybe if you claim a lioness fan, she will give you some too?
2017 tweaks:
- Show lion stats in the arena list - Suggestion
- Enter number of tokens instead of 1 token entry at a time - Suggestion
- You get listed first in the entries of the arena - Suggestion
Things that will appear:
- New tier 1, 2, 3 items in shop (not only decors!)
- Tier 3 will fill up with Lion Scrotum and Red Bull items! TRAIN HARD, BOIS

- High possibility of more crafting of trophy items appearing if artists have time!
- Notorious Loser encounter art has been redone as the anatomy was bugging me

MAY STORYLINE
We have LAUNCHED! May storyline is different from how April worked. Let me give you a summary!
Originally, Every new Tier (including Tier 0, before bar is unlocked), a new Chapter of a visual Novel will be accessible in new area in the Event Page - "Brotherhood of Zeal". The Novel will place you in a roleplaying story with first ever small branching choices.
Because of server delays we have decided that Chapter 2 will launch on May 10th instead of Tier 1 - however in 2018 it will match tier as it should.
Tier 0 - Chapter 1
Tier 1 - Chapter 2 (May 10th in 2017)
Tier 2 - Chapter 3
Tier 3 - Chapter 4
Take note that if you start this later in the month, you will experience chapters one after another in a row.
How do Chapters work?
You will be presented with a visual novel with choices. As you click buttons, you will progress in the story and your choices marked with *'s will have special outcome or will affect your daily quests! (Do not worry the button will for sure tell you what is the outcome!) Some multiple answers do not have *'s - they are just for your personal roleplaying character preferences - the outcome will be the same.
This is the only time we're introducing *'s so that you guys get used to how things work for the first time we're doing branching storyline! In July the buttons won't reveal if your choice is important!
Chapter 1 will introduce to you a first optionable choice that will affect your daily rewards. You will see what it is as you play the game - but we hope it's obvious enough and you'll enjoy the boost (or lack of it).
In case you want to change your mind, in shop, tier 1, a cheap item will appear that will let you change the choice you made in Chapter 1.
Again, we're making it so easy ONLY because this is the first storyline like that ever on Lioden and we want everyone to make sure they understand new mechanics and enjoy the exciting, new feature.
Now, Chapter 2, 3 and 4 will give you some choices as well - if you regret your choice in Chapter 2, next two chapters will let you change your mind two more times as you progress in the Novel.
Daily Quests
There are 4 Daily Quests you can do for your Brotherhood bro. They can be taken each day, but they will reset at rollover no matter if you finish them or not.
They reward you with reputation and Arena Tokens.
What is reputation for? Special Reward of course!
Reputation is "currency" you gather by doing daily quests for the NPC. The reputation is separate for each NPC you can side with. Reputation you gained with V'Kai does not carry over to Vashkartzen.
You spend the reputation points on Special reward each NPC offers. Since Chapter 1 introduces V'Kai exclusively for now, you can spend the reputation only on his reward - it has 6 hour cooldown and costs 8 reputation to activate each time. I hope the disclaimer about the reward is enough information for you, but if you have any questions I can update this section of news with more stuff!
Special Reward for V'Kai details:
By spending 8 reputation you click on a button that auto-claims a lion for you. You need territory space. Your claimed lion will go directly to your den. There is no "Claiming minigame" like in explore.
Newly Claimed Groupies have similar generating script like NCLs, however:
Unique groupies have a tiny chance of having a rare base (kimanjano is not included here)
Unique groupies can have ANY eye colour and personality
Unique groupies have a small chance of having a pose
Unique groupies have a very rare chance of having a mutation
Unique groupies have a small chance of being a teen male (if you chose a chapter boost the chance will be bigger)
Unique groupies have 2 markings randomly chosen by script, including rare ones (Mottled Rosette is not included).
Who are the NPC's?
Now, for people who are into the storyline as much as our AMAZING TESTERS were, let me say that we are introducing two NPC's here, to a degree of missing detail. You still are left with a big void for your imagination to work - invent the rest of the story, or backgrounds, relations and aftermatch. The Novel ends with an open setting enough for you to imagine the rest. Both V'Kai and Vashkartzen are brothers for storyline and are not claimable, that's why this time I will share with you their wardrobe details:
