I find the whole topic of Dick’s emotional competence really fascinating because it’s clear that has an understanding of emotions in a way that Bruce has completely suppressed and cannot because he straight up doesn’t talk about emotions but while Dick recognises and understands it -

He never really uses it for ethical reasons ( exceptions like E.G having that call with Tim after he talked the jumper of the roof because if that was Bruce well .. I don’t think it would of helped much )

He mostly uses it for tactical reasons and manipulation.

And despite being able to use it on others and have emotional intelligence with them when it actually comes to him …. Well it goes less well because he holds himself up to this insane standard BECAUSE of Bruce .

Its especially interesting because Dick has wished before that unlike Bruce he could bottle up his emotions and shut it out .

Idk correct me if wrong but it’s nice food for thought!

dick grayson is sooooo normal i want to study his brain under a microscope. yeah id say that’s a pretty fair interpretation of his rich inner world — i do think that like bruce he tends to force himself through emotional trauma by brute force (we see this in the 96 run, for example) — but he’s also really cognisant of other people and specifically how he’s viewed by other people.

there’s this panel out of titans 99 where vic is like “i can’t believe dick lied to me!!” and the other characters say yeah. that’s normal for him. he’s a manipulative person when he wants people to do what he says, yknow? i mean i do think he does it for good a tonne, he just uses shortcuts to cut to where people are hurting. like….. he will explain to u ur emotional intricacies to get u to open up. he’s similar to bruce in the sense that they both care — possibly way too much — but while bruce struggles to express that dick is a lot more outwardly open, but also u never know how much of it is a facade.

it also makes it more impactful when he is profoundly known by others — specifically the fab5 and kory and babs and bruce. he has (imho) some degree of depersonalisation about his identity and his body and his autonomy, so people seeing through the performance and wanting to protect the core is truly. chefs kiss

it’s so interesting!! i cannot emphasise how much more of an interesting character he is when writers actually incorporate his intelligence into his stories. like people will follow him to ends of the earth because despite how bitchy he gets u know he’s going to do the right thing, even if dick himself doesn’t necessarily believe it

You shush her quickly, looking around the grill at anyone that looks familiar before nodding

“Yes Damon”, you say

make it more obvious than it already is Caroline

“Ew”, she gags with a shake of her head, “sorry y/n but he would never go for someone like you”, she shrugs, taking a sip of her milkshake

You frown as you tilt your head

“What do you mean?”, you question, trying to hide your hurt and disappointment

“Do you not see it?”, she raises an eyebrow

You slowly shake her head, urging her to continue on silently

“Elena, y/n, Elena”, she stretches out her name

You sit back in your seat as you think back on the times you all spent time together and realize that she is right

“Ladies”, speaking of the devil, Damon walks over with a smirk on his face

“Ew”, Caroline makes a face and gets up, “I’ll see you later, y/n”, she says and walks out the grill

“Bitchy much?”, Damon raises an eyebrow as he takes Caroline’s seat and finally lays his eyes on you

You finally noticed it after maybe months of being blind. You realized the way he looks at her, the way he talks to her, even the way he treats her. Like she’s made of glass and she needs his protection.

Even when he talks about her to you, you hear it all and that’s enough for you to try and throw your feelings out the window and distance yourself.

Not like he would care, right?

You watch, from a distance, the way Damon and Elena are talking. How close and secretive like, they are. It made you wonder, what exactly does he see in her that he can’t see in you?

You feel selfish, Elena is your friend and you’re thinking about all this negative stuff. But sometimes, it’s better to be selfish, you know?

“Ugh why don’t you just talk to him, you guys are friends”, Caroline comes up next to you

“Yeah friends, and friends only”, you shake your head, “you even said it yourself that he will never go for someone like me”, you add

Caroline rolls her eyes, “i was just messing with you, y/n. Damon goes for anyone”, she says

“Yeah anyone as in Elena”, you sigh, glancing over at them, to see Damon already looking at you with a raised eyebrow

You shake your head, “none of your concern”, you say trying to walk away only for him to grab your arm quickly

“It is my concern when I am brought into that conversation, what did she mean by I go for anyone?”, he asks again but more specific

You shake your head, pulling your arm away, “It was a stupid conversation now can I go?”, you look over at him for the first time that you both started talking

“What’s going on with you, hm?”, he says which makes you raise an eyebrow

“I don’t understand nor do i have a care right now”, you sigh

Of course you understood and of course you cared

“Stop with the bullshit, y/n”, he narrows his eyes, “you’ve been distancing yourself from me and we rarely hang out, what’s going on?”, he asks

For most of the week, that’s all Damon had done. Anytime he seen you trying to leave, he would be quick to stop you and pester you into telling him what is wrong. Usually always ends up with him never getting a direct answer and instead getting some attitude off of you instead

He even tried texting you but he was either left on delivered or seen

It irritated him to no end and on top of that, the conversation you had with Caroline seemed to be the icing on the cake for sure

Why was he brought up in your guy’s conversation and why did you seem so disappointed?

“Penny for your thoughts?”, he heard his little brother say as Stefan walks into the living room

“What are, Klaus?”, Damon raises an eyebrow

“It’s what happens when your forced on a trip with him”, Stefan shrugs, “but seriously, what’s up?”

“You are real quiet, in thought maybe?”, Stefan questions

Damon debated on wether to ask him about it

“Have you noticed anything different about them? y/n”, Damon asks

“No, not really”, Stefan shrugs, “they seem fine to me, why?”

“They have become so distant with me, very weird not gonna lie”, Damon shrugs, “any time I tried talking to them, they always push me away”, he says, “Even weirder is that Caroline and them had a conversation and I was brought into it”, he adds

Stefan raises an eyebrow, he never seen his brother so so stressed about a situation like this, it surprised him

“Set something up”, Stefan shrugs, “catch them off guard, your good at that”, he adds before walking away as Damon nods slowly

You walked out the market with some bags in your hand, walking towards your car and to the back, opening your trunk. Once you settled and situated your grocery bags, you closed it and turned around, letting out a loud gasp when Damon appears in front of you

“Fucking christ, Dam”, you gasp, putting your hand on your chest, “don’t do that damit”, you shake your head

“Why have you been ignoring me”, Damon says with a sarcastic smile as he stares deep into your eyes

You knew he wasn’t compelling you, he was the one who gave you vervain anyways

“I can’t do this right now Damon”, you shake your head as you start walking to your door car in which he quickly covers

“Yes you can, cmon don’t be shy now”, he says with a little smirk that doesn’t really reach his eyes

“Get out of my way”, you groan

“What was the conversation you and blondie had, about”, he says instead which makes you immediately shake your head

“You are so annoying”, you growl, trying to shove him away

“Gosh you know I wouldn’t have to be if you would just tell me the dam truth”, Damon pouts

You were getting irritated and annoyed the more he kept pestering you. It only left you with an option that you really didn’t wanna use but if it meant he moved away and stopped talking, so be it.

You reached into your bag and grab a spray bottle that’s filled with vervain and spray it in Damon’s face

Damon let’s put a shout with a groan, immediately stumbling away and grabbing at his face

“Y/N”, he hisses, snapping his head towards you as you quickly get in your car

“You were getting annoyed”, you shrugged and started you car, before driving off

You finished up with putting your groceries away and started to make your way upstairs

You kinda felt guilty for doing Damon like that but it seemed like the only thing to get him to shut up and move away and plus you did do it before. Prior to the situation as of right now

Once you walk into your room, you almost let out a yelp when you see the man himself, laying down on your bed

“That wasn’t very nice of you, you know?”, Damon says as he plays with one of your stuffed animals you have on your bed, “These are for kids by the way”, he points, pointing at your animal

You glare and snatch it away from him

“What the hell do you want Damon”, you growl as you set your stuffed animal on your dressed

“Answers, y/n, answers”, he growls back suddenly now in front of you

You close your eyes, feeling it burn with tears and your frustration reaching its breaking point as Damon continues on about how you have been ignoring him and distancing yourself and everything that you have done to him

“…I am honestly hurt, y/n/n, i would have never expected anything like this from yo-“, he is cut off short

“I AM IN LOVE WITH YOU DAMON”, you shout out as you finally reach it, “I HAVE BEEN IN LOVE WITH YOU SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THIS FRIENDSHIP TO NOW. I HAVE BEEN IN LOVE WITH EVERYTHING THAT YOU HAVE DONE FOR ME AND FOR WHOEVER THE HELL YOU PLAYED NICE TO”, you sob as you now start pacing, “IVE DISTANCE MYSELF BECAUSE I REALIZED THAT YOU WILL NEVER FEEL WHAT I FEEL FOR YOU. IVE REALIZED THAT I WILL NEVER BE GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU BECAUSE”, you bite your lip, stopping your pacing and finally looking over at him, “i realized am nothing like Elena…nor will I ever be Elena”, you whisper

Damon stares at you, his eyes slightly widened and his mouth slightly open

He was shocked. He never seen you like this nor has he ever realized that you felt like this towards him

“Y/n…”, he whispers as he raises his hands up towards your face only for you to slap it away

“No…just go Damon, please”, you avoid eye contact

Should he? Should he leave you to comfort yourself and give you some time or should he stay and keep damaging you even more?

He nodded slowly, walking towards your window and hops out

right ok. I'm so exhausted I think it's making my anger a lot more composed but I'm ummmm actually really angry! haha! text message guy was being a fucking dickhead all night with his stupid dickhead friend who keeps egging him on and sharing stupid unfunny offensive jokes where the joke is just like fucking. saying the word aids or pedophile or whatever. proper juvenile shit genuinely I don't Get what is funny. well they were drunk so that's the answer I guess. and then they doing the guy thing and the drunk thing of being overly friendly in a way that's making fun of you being kind of rude and being fucking. attention seeking. and loud and interrupting me and my friend (who was a fucking godsend except for a moment we'll get to in a second 😐) who were just being chill and watching the live music. and it goes on so much longer than anticipated I'm tired I only basically went because I wanted to show my friends they should still invite me to stuff LOL and because a potential new friend was gonna be there too. but that's not relevant except to let you know my I was already not in a bitchy mood by any means I was just sort of ready to Go. and I left my stuff in my (chill) friend's room on campus so we all (chill friend, text message guy, his twat friend) went there. and they would not stop with these stupid jokes over and over and I was like " 😐 you literally have three jokes" and in response the twat friend said "no like I was saying I'm not even drunk I'm sober rn" just to give you a sense of what I was dealing with in terms of conversation. and I was over it I wanted to fucking leave but they kept going even in the hallway while my chill friend went to the loo. I don't remember specifically what set it off but I had already stopped acknowledging them/humouring them at all I just ignored them then it got bad enough I walked off. and those stupid cunts FOLLOWED ME . and were like teeee tee we're sorryyy 😥😥😥 in that stupid childish drunk way and I was like I'm fine it's fine I just need to go. and they could tell I was mad at this point. and fucking text message guy. has the AUDACITY. to go "aw, come on tee, you know we love you"

and I, admittedly in a manner that made me feel for a brief moment like a Bad Bitch, replied without missing a beat: "yeah I know- you fucking texted it to me, remember?"

and then it was out there!!!!! I said it finally I was just so angry and frankly I did say it to try and hurt him and embarrass him I'll say it lol because I felt fucking embarrassed that whole night and with the whole stupid ordeal anyway. and there was SUCH a relief. like ok I said it it's out. I said it EXPLICITLY. There was no way to misinterpret what I just said to him even with him drunk like that. I did the hard thing I did the confrontation now I should get the reward of finding out what the fuck is his problem. and he delays for a moment, still with mothballs in his skull, and then goes "oh" but like not an "oh shit" oh more like he was just remembering it and he LAUGHS and goes "...and you sent the question mark...?" and EYE say "and you never fucking explained what that was, yeah" and I was fucking fuming I was heated I wasn't yelling but like. I was mad. lowkey wish chill friend was there I think their reaction would have been crazy. sorry I luv to narrativise my stupid life! anyway. and he's just like oh yeah. and then laughs. and goes. 😐😐😐😐😐. he goes, "well I guess you'll never know." all smug. and I wanted to break his neck. like it's not even that there's any truth to it you fucking gave it away you admitted it was a message to me you admitted you saw the text back you admitted that these were all deliberate choices! If not now than in a second when you keep fucking talking. but the way he said it like it was so funny keeping that from me. when I was so stressed about it and about protecting HIS feelings. fuck him oh my god.

but yeah so he does that and then the twat who caught only half of it and is using negative percents of his brain is like wait what message! what message! and text guy laughs and just goes haha just a message I sent to show my appreciation for tee! and the twat is like you're such a sap man. or something to that effect. I'm literally doing deep breathing rn typing this fucking hell. and of course coming out of the loo chill friend hears ONLY this small bit and I don't know now if they understood at any point that I was no longer kind of tired and annoyed by what I will extremely generously call their "drunk antics," but instead was seriously pissed. but they go, at this point thinking everything is still chill and a laugh, "what, are you two an item now?" and I just felt so small and miserable. and I just muttered "ask fucking [guy's name]" and kept moving I wanted to scream. because still he could not just be fucking straight with me and was messing me about for no reason at all. and by the time our paths diverged I just sort of loudly went BYE! without any sentimentality or individual goodbyes as they went to a bar and I went on my way home. and then I immediately called my friend and yelled about this so loudly and viciously I'm sure the entirety of the fucking city heard about it. I literally was like "hey it's late I hope you're not busy or trying to sleep" and as soon as she said she could talk I went. I hope the guy who sent me that fucking text kills himself. and I mean it.

Physical Apperance (original): Long black hair, dark blue glassy eyes, pale skin that bruises and burns easily, freckles on her face. Average height, slender definition with little muscle mass (doesn't stop her from beating up everyone), and the flattest chest imaginable

Appearance: Dyed hair that damaged beyond repair, contact lenses, layers of makeup that cover her scars and freckles. Wears a padded bra. 🍰 Currently wear red and soft pink hair dye with maroon contact lenses

Someone who can put up with her mood swings and violent tendencies. Plus her jealousy issues (that are mild compared to Kylar's) is also something major to consider

A baker or at least someone who’s good at cooking. She’s got a big sweet tooth but also enjoys super sour foods as well.

Someone who isn’t fazed by the sight of blood. She just seems to get covered in it a lot, oopsies tee hee. She’s strong despite her seemingly weak disposition, mainly due to her baseball bat

In the same vein, someone who can take of her injuries. She bruises easily because of her pale skin

Doesn’t tolerate anyone who is even slightly mean to her older twin brother. They get the bonk

Relationships to Others Hana: She’s his younger twin sister who is known for being violently overprotective of him. Harper: His boss who he’s infatuated with on a disturbing level. Though after his trip to the Asylum, Harper doesn’t really pay as much attention to him :(. Despite his young age, he’s smart and a fast learner. He’s just a nursing assistant for now Great Hawk: He was kidnapped by the Great Hawk while foraging in the Moor. After a few weeks, he somehow turned into a Harpy. Using his new transformation, he escaped but only to pass out and be transferred to the asylum by Harper PC: Feel free to customize

Reputation: He’s basically a nobody, but his sudden reappearance has got some rumours flying around about his absence.

Personality: He’s a meek and shy individual who normally keeps to himself. However, his personality has changed drastically upon his return. Though he’s become more happy-go-lucky and carefree, he’s still naive deep down.

While he attends school on a regular basis, they are times that he misses class to work at the Hospital. There are days where he’s not even at school or the orphanage, and has become more reliant on coffee as a result.

Anyone who even questions the change in Hans’ personality gets beat up by Hana.

He’s at the hospital most of the time, so he rarely gets to interact with others outside of that. It pays well enough to cover his and Hana’s rent, but he’s always tired as a result. Lives off of coffee and seasonal salad. Will eat flowers if delirious enough

If you can get past the traumaTM stare, then he’s pretty cute

Acts meek, is super strong and tall (moe gap?). He’s unaware of it, but he’s high on Harper Pills 24/7 and is very susceptible to acts of hypnotism. Has memory gaps because of it.

Someone who takes the time to preen his whitish-blue feathers makes his heart beat. Hana always gets them covered in blood

He’s not a germaphobe, but he’s always wearing a surgical mask and gloves

Someone who likes exploring the outdoors is someone he gets along with in general (as a friend or romantic interest)

He’s like the Great Hawk in the sense that he’ll give you gifts at the oddest times. Also like the Great Hawk, he will try to feed you Lurkers.

No sex for him! Unless you can get the golden chastity belt off of him. Good luck…

You have to be able to convince Hana that you’re not going to hurt him in any way. No incest involved between these two, Hana is overly protective, even more so, as Hans has just come back from his long absence

Note

Miura saying gutsca aren’t in love yet makes a lot of sense. It’s not just that Guts struggles to center her throughout the story, but also that Miura never used the obvious romantic beats (like Guts saying the 100 man battle wasn’t fought for Casca specifically) and even structuring the story where Guts makes decisions that went against their budding romance (like keeping Casca in the dark about Griffith’s fake poisoning knowing it’ll hurt her). The foundation always seemed shakey to begin with

Yeah, it was not the most surprising thing he could have said about them to be honest. In the past I was always a bit reluctant to talk about Gutsca's specific feelings for each other because it's such an untouchable given to so many people but to me it was clear that... even though the relationship was probably intended to have potential and to be something readers could hope to see come to fruition, it was also specifically designed to have very serious challenges from both sides.

My feeling about the 100 man battle is that it was a combination of venting his frustration over Promrose and wanting to protect Casca not because he cared about Casca on a personal level but because he saw her having a dream (being with Griffith) as something that elevated her over him - a person who had no particular goals. So he both respects her enough to want her to survive to pursue her goals and sees her as a more worthy companion for Griffith than him (thus the matchmaking).

And honestly, if we were meant to see the romance as a perfect soulmate connection you wouldn't have so many blatant red flags between them - the skipped romantic beats, the mutual prioritization of Griffith to the point where they each independently decided to cancel their plans without talking to each other about it, right through to the the post-Eclipse world where he ditched her in a cave for two years.

Just offhand, other screaming red flags include:

Obviously the way Casca literally considered going after Griffith again during the rescue and then complained to Guts about it.

-and the fact that Guts was like, "I guess I'm just going to let it happen."

The way Guts reacted to Rickert and Erica saying she'd wandered off A MONTH AGO by being bitchy at Rickert and then having a chill conversation with Godo and going to bed. Sure he was mad about it and worried about her, but even so he showed no intention or drive towards looking for her himself; he only decided to do so when he started thinking about the Hawks and having abandoned Griffith and resultantly lost both him and the Hawks as a whole.

Nearly letting her burn to death in conviction (actually I guess he DID let her burn to death, it's Isidro that prevented it from actually happening)

Immediately considering ditching her again when Griffith came back and again only deciding to focus on her because he thought about his bad decisions re: Griffith and the Hawks.

Spending half of the next volume resenting her, fantasizing about raping and killing her and making actual attempts to do both of those things, resulting in her being terrified of him for the rest of the series until Elfhelm

Guts pulling Casca around on a rope

Skull Knight's warning that what Guts and Casca want may not be the same thing.

That line about being unable to put things back the way they were even if you want to

The way Miura blocked Guts from answering every time someone asked him about their relationship - this one is interesting because he does the same thing when Guts tries to consider killing Griffith - its the equivalent of "....." (and sometimes literally ..... in Griffith's case), which makes me think its a way of conveying his complicated/mixed feelings.

The fact that her mindscape portrays their relationship as Guts being burdened by her (in the coffin)

The fact that in said mindscape the Guts dog nearly destroyed Casca/her coffin when the Griffith image showed up

And three more complicated things:

First, the way he envisions her when he thinks about her and what was lost. I always found it interesting that he very rarely thinks about their romance - I think he flashes back to their meadow scene like one time. Most of the time he thinks of her as a soldier, and I just find that very interesting.

Second, the way she can't look at him post-restoration or, more specifically, his reaction to it. I'm not saying he doesn't wish it weren't like that. It's just that his attitude about it really echoes back to when she was vacillating over him and Griffith again - he just lets it happen and doesn't really have much of a reaction to it. He's just willing to let her slip away. This one is more complicated because I do think it hurts him, but I don't think his passive acceptance and relative lack of frustration or reaction is... great for their prospects.

And third, the way he literally hasn't thought about her even once since she got kidnapped. The reason I consider this one complicated is because obviously the series is no longer by Miura, and has become a sort of highlights version that reflects the story as relayed to Mori. But the interesting side effect of that is that we kind of know what Miura considered the most important parts of the story -- the bones onto which he would have layered flavor and personality and nuance.

And apparently what he told Mori was "Griffith kidnaps Casca and Guts becomes depressed because his sword let him down and then loses his mind thinking about Griffith, which I find very telling.

Now that may have seemed like a sidenote/rant but it isn't. Because it's the same thing - Miura repeatedly raised situations that could have been utilized to solidify their bond and convey that Guts loved her, or at least that he prioritized her well-being over Griffith(whether Griffith himself, his machinations or Guts own war against him), but the opportunity was undermined it every time right down to the big romantic reunion turning into a horror show.

Of course that doesn't mean they won't end up together - I do think the reader is probably meant to want them to work their shit out and get it together and find each other again. Even so I do think those flaws, those red flags, are there it's just a question of whether they get past them or not.

I think for me the biggest argument against them ending up together is that one of the biggest issues Guts has is that he's kind of ... trapped in the past. "The campfire still burns" and all. That has always been portrayed a general negative - his fixation with Gambino was a problem and the way he refused to let go of the Hawks even when they'd all died was so weird and unnerving that Rickert was visibly uncomfortable with it. Also his inability to move on from the Hawks is what fuels his revenge drive, and Berserk has always portrayed that as self-destructive.

Point being I just wonder if having him end up with the woman he spent one night with and then moped about for years thereafter - someone who explicitly represents the Hawks that hes' been unable to let go of or move on from to his own detriment - is really the way it's meant to go.

I mean, maybe the answer is yes that's how it's meant to go, I wouldn't be shocked. But it's a decent question nonetheless. Something to ponder, I guess.

okay yes episode 6 killed us all and there's a lot about this season to love and talk about and dissect but i wanna talk about episode 2, specifically the temptation scene in the cellar because my friend and i were watching it and it got me thinking

so we saw that crowley was the one who got aziraphale into human food, right? which is a super fun character detail but then i thought, why?

crowley doesn't eat, at least not that we ever see. not in that scene, not in any of the restaurant scenes. like it's almost an unspoken agreement that their "lunches" are going to be aziraphale having lunch and crowley just kinda being there. so it's not like crowley wants someone to share meals with or bond over enjoying food with.

and he was so INSISTENT about aziraphale trying it. and then of course, he does and he loves it.

what i think is that crowley absolutely knew aziraphale would like it, because, like he says, he's "just enough of a bastard to be worth knowing", and he's been like that since day goddamn one. crowley sees right through the holier-than-thou angelic guard that he uses to protect himself (that's mostly made up of guilt and repression), because crowley is the exact same way (but with curiosity instead of material pleasures).

they're both fallible in a way that makes them both incredibly human, in a way that puts them on their own side, and this scene is where aziraphale realizes that crowley and him are alike in this way, and that crowley seeing this aspect of him isn't a bad thing.

being "human" in the way that he is is aziraphale's deepest insecurity due to his angelic nature and his environment. part of BEING an angel is the constant need to be perfect and holy and untouchable or else you'll fall and then you're cast down for being unforgivably, fundamentally wrong. it's living in constant fear of being "found out". (which is a very queer experience but that's not the point.)

aziraphale is terrified of indulging himself or slipping up or admitting doubt, it's his biggest fear at the time this scene takes place. that's another aspect of himself that crowley recognizes in aziraphale, but one that he doesn't still have. crowley fell. he knows the world doesn't end when you stop being an angel, and he knows that experiencing pleasure doesn't make someone a bad person, or angel, or whatever else. so when he sees that little inner hedonist that aziraphale just can't repress, what does he do? he tempts him into letting go, into indulging himself, because he knows aziraphale will love it.

even if it's "sinful" or "bad" in the eyes of god, it isn't the end of the world. this scene is where aziraphale starts to understand that. and on top of that, he starts to understand that crowley still likes him in spite of his perceived flaws, or maybe BECAUSE of those flaws.

which is why, after so many millennia, crowley still buys him wine and desserts and expensive lunches even though he himself couldn't care less about it. it's why aziraphale acts so differently around crowley than he does in heaven - he's more openly hedonistic and honestly a little bitchy, but that's what makes him easy to love.

this show is so fucking good

Love thinking about that Brennan Lee Mulligan quote about his professor who told him that personality predates ideology and how that applies to Anakin.

As Brennan so succinctly puts it, before you were a fascist, you were a bully and an asshole.

Like we don't necessarily see Anakin specifically bully anyone, but we do see him steamroll people, we do see him disrespect people. Anakin becomes a fascist because he can make it all about him. Because he's always made everything all about him. Anakin becomes a fascist because it allows him to blame everyone BUT himself for his own problems.

Before Anakin was a Sith, he was a racist and a sexual predator. Before he was a Sith, he was a selfish greedy asshole.

Sure, Palpatine manipulates him, Palpatine helps poison Anakin further against Jedi teachings so that he just gets more and more selfish and bitchy. But Anakin makes the choices. At no point does Anakin have to disrespect Padme's refusals of him. At no point does Anakin HAVE to kill children. At no point did Anakin HAVE to kill ANYONE. At no point did Anakin HAVE to lie or break his own vows.

No one forced him into those choices and Palpatine isn't even around for at least half of them.

I know Anakin's story is meant to show us how a good person becomes bad, but in Attack of the Clones, he's already a bad person. A good person does not kill children. A good person does not disrespect someone else telling them that their behavior makes them feel uncomfortable.

Brennan's quote mentions that this is on the level of both individuals and civilizations. And we do see that in the PT, too. Anakin's story parallels that of the Republic itself, specifically of the Senate. Before the Republic became an Empire, it was corrupt and lazy and arrogant. Palpatine and the Sith have been manipulating that, obviously, but it doesn't take the onus of the responsibility for allowing things to get as far as they do off of the senators themselves. And this is shown very explicitly through seeing senators like Padme herself and Bail Organa (and a few others in the deleted scenes from ROTS). There ARE senators doing the right work, putting in the effort to be better. But it's not enough. It was never enough. And it's on those corrupt senators and representatives for choosing to be that way, for making those choices they're making.

It's just as much on Anakin for making the choices he makes, and it says something about who he's always been as a person that he can ultimately make those choices in the end. That he can look at a dictatorship and see it as a better alternative to a democracy (even one that is admittedly not working as well as it should). That he can look at a genocide and see it as a viable solution to a personal problem. Anakin is someone who sees people as objects, who views the world in black and white. Your life is worthwhile until it isn't. Your rights are to be protected until they aren't. You're a person until you aren't. The problem becomes the solution when it's convenient to see it as such.

Before Anakin was a Sith/fascist, he was an arrogant selfish racist dickhead.

🍋 [LEMON] What is their kryptonite/ultimate weakness?

Violet - I think her biggest weakness can also be a strength in some cases, but has certainly caused heartbreak in the past. She tends to give the people she loves the benefit of the doubt, willing to forgive them over and over and put herself last in favor of making sure they’re ok. She forgives quickly even if she knows she deserves more, and she has a really hard time setting boundaries with people who she loves. This mainly can be seen with the relationship between her and her dad (who is manipulative and toxic and at times even violent) but because she longs for him to be “better” she is willing to put herself in harm’s way to see it through, even if it never pays off.

Emmanuel - Manny is a pretty strong person - he’s strong willed, determined, courageous, really all the things that make finding a weakness hard. But in true codependent fashion, I could say his “kryptonite” is actually Phineas, more specifically, how Manny has a hard time divorcing his own needs from Finn’s. This is something that probably extends to them both but they developed a strong codependency when they were younger, and though they’re working on it now in their relationship, Emmanuel can still be trapped in the space of focusing only on Finn’s wellness, on his needs and care, on defending him when he knows he’s wrong or protecting and sheltering him to a point of stifling. Sometimes even Manny will admit he uses it as a crutch to avoid things he finds hard to face himself - it’s comfortable for him to be able to put himself aside and focus on the chaos of Finn’s world.

Phineas - this is pretty simple but it’s truly himself. Because of all his horrific trauma, Finn battles with himself constantly. He doesn’t feel safe often so he convinces himself he CAN’T feel safe. He experienced frequent and extreme losses so he convinces himself he’ll loose EVERYONE. It’s a classic cycle that he has an exceptionally hard time breaking, though he can recognise it now which is something to be said about his recovery. His ultimate weakness is his inability to trust himself, to trust that he can survive despite having done so over and over again. His sense of self has been so warped that he is not able to see what he’s capable of. But he does try his best.

🥝[KIWI] How does their outside appearance differ from who they are?

Violet - her style and external appearance screams ‘spooky scary and a little bitchy’ but truthfully, Violet has a heart of gold. She’s witty and funny, caring and thoughtful, and even pretty goofy once she’s comfortable. She’s sort of a closet nerd and enjoys really low-key activities and crafts, and is actually a pretty amazing homemaker. But because of her affinity for black/goth/emo style and fascination with creepy things like animal bones and ghosts and horror, people assume she’s mean or cold or even kind of a freak. She doesn’t let it get to her though.

Emmanuel - to be honest, Manny looks like he could beat the shit out of you lol. He also definitely portrays a bit of a “dumb jock” aesthetic, but neither of things are at all who he is. Manny is not only a big teddy bear, but he’s also extremely smart. He loves learning and is studious and organised, a great test taker, has an excellent memory, and is also bilingual. He has a lot of love to give and can sometimes come across as a little naive because of his sweet nature, but he’s perceptive and inquisitive, and often can figure things out relatively quickly with little information.

Phineas - Finn’s appearance is often the first thing people notice and the only thing they remember about him in a lot of cases; he has albinism, which already sets him apart as being interesting looking, but aside from that he has generally pretty striking features. He commands a lot of attention to himself because of how he looks, even though he’d rather NOT have all eyes on him. Additionally, people often incorrectly assume that because of his albinism (and service dog) he is ill, feeble, or other shitty assumptions people make; this can often cause people to infantilise him (inadvertently usually) but Finn is far from the pitiful loner people see him as. He’s extremely witty and can be pretty charming when he gets comfortable, and can even be pretty obsessive when he finds something (or someone) that sparks his passion. Despite his rather subdued nature his desire to warm to others and find belonging can make him a fiercely loyal friend or partner. He’s emotional, romantic, and invested fully in the things he finds important.

the hunchback of notre dame characters and how much i would trust them with my drink at a party

quasimodo: 7.5/10 - off to a strong start, i just feel like quasi is assigned any task and hyper-focuses on it until its done. if you asked him to watch your drink he would almost definitely guard it with his life and clap anyone who asked about it at all, which is where he gets points off. he’s too protective sometimes, but its all in good intent.

esmerelda: 9/10 - another high one. i just feel like esmerelda goes to a lot of parties and is really good at gauging vibes and stuff and she’d just be really casual about it yknow? like you’d ask her and she’d take it and “yeah, of course? are you ok?” and scratch your shoulder or squeeze it or something. esmerelda’s the person at a party who i might not even know but i would feel comfortable hanging around if i knew i was getting too lost in the sauce.

phoebus: 5.5/10 - when i say this i mean musical phoebus specifically. like andrew samonsky phoebus is just a little bit too much of a noodle for me to be properly okay giving him my cup to hold. like i have this headcanon that if phoebus is staying sober, he’s the designated driver, he’s the best person to have around, like total dad, amazing i love him, but if he’s getting tanked? hes getting TANKED, and i just feel like he’d either forget why he’s holding it and set it down out of sight, or drink it himself, like he just wouldn’t be my first choice, but the one i had to give it too because i didn’t trust anyone else more. does that make sense?

clopin mfing trouillefou: somewhere between the liminality of 5.5 and 6/10 - first off, i wouldn’t be so sure that clopin isn’t the one putting shit in drinks. second, even if he’s not, i feel like he would accidentally spill it getting way too close up in someone’s personal space. however, i feel like if that did happen, he’s say some wack shit like “hey yeah it spilled so i got you another one” and it’s just an entire bottle of vodka, like it’s not what you had, but it’s still alcoholic, so really how bad is he? i think if he’s more sober, he’d be pretty chill about it, which is where the extra half point comes in. he’d set it down but keep an eye on it, let people know it’s his or something if someone tries to take it.

*gags* claude frollo: like???? 2/10? - and im not just saying that because i don’t like him. i just dont trust this guy, i feel like he’d hand it off to the first person that offered to take it from him, total disregard for the people around him please never ever give my drink to this man ever should he show his stupid face at a party at all.

jehan frollo :))) : 9/10 - ok please let me have a false interpretation of this man. like if you really wanted a realistic number, 5/10, i think he’d get really drunk and just not watch it, but my idealized version of the character is kind of akin to esmerelda, he asks if you’re ok, holds it close the entire time, and then when you come back he tops it off and offers if you wanna hang out with him for a while. god i’d kill to have a drunk conversation with jehan i feel like that would be so much fun. he’d take you and hunt down phoebus to safely drive you guys to like a fast food place so you could get burgers and sober up in an empty parking lot somewhere, holy shit watch me write completely separate headcanons for this.

I mean we've seen the violent side of Rime's jealousy already, but what would a more subdued version of that look like? Maybe a Rime who's re-joined the Starsworn and has (reluctantly) accepted the fact that a relationship with Felix is no longer on the table?

And maybe he doesn't hate you for it anymore - how can he, when you went through so much shit to defeat LoS and save Astraea and protect Felix - but he's still angry. Still hurt. Still... Jealous.

Rime doesn't like being around you two. Or, specifically, around you. Sometimes he'll still spend one-on-one time with Felix (usually talking about some new spells they've been researching together) but Felix will inevitably bring you up somehow and that ruins it.

There are a lot of little ways Rime tries to one-up you. He's already a naturally competitive person so that doesn't help. Every little thing turns into some sort of contest, even when Felix isn't around.

He feels a little better when he manages to beat you but it always turns very hollow. You already won the most important thing.

Always passive-aggressive and/or sarcastic. Maybe not as much when Anisa or Felix are there, but still.

That being said he doesn't try to hurt you (anymore) and if you need backup, then he'll help you. He won't like it, and he might rub it in your face later depending on the context, but he'll help you.

Surprisingly he does not try to be underhanded and manipulate you and Felix into breaking up, but only because he knows it would hurt Fe.

Definitely makes it clear to you that if you ever fuck up and hurt Felix, he'll kill you. And if you and Felix ever break up, Rime is asking him out.

Which uh,, fair enough you guess.

Rime starts going to bars more. Sometimes it's with the express goal of hooking up, but usually it's just to get sloppy drunk and stop thinking for a while. There's more than one time Sage ends up finding him and dragging his drunk ass back to Fathom.

I actually think Rime and Sage get along a little better. While Sage doesn't exactly like Rime trash-talking you, he does like getting to see Rime's bitchy rebellious side.

10. Ori from The Hobbit. He's a fun lil guy and he was my main blorbo in that fandom and I just liked him a lot for his pointless bravery and how very adorable he was

9. Tiffany Aching from the Discworld. Many reasons, but mostly it's a specific part of the first book that has stuck with me through the years. I don't have the exact quote, but something about her opponent calling her selfish like it's the worst thing she could be, and a part of her just owning it like. Yes, she's selfish. And she's still going to protect the people around her, because those are her people. And it just... I just love that moment.

8. Polgara from The Belgariad (and associated books). Role model lady!! But more seriously, I loved how complex she was, and how she was allowed to be clever and powerful and kind, but also bitchy and petty, and it wasn't... the narrative didn't judge or punish her for it? I don't enjoy David and Leigh Eddings books as much as I did as a teenager, but damn, the characters in it were really cool and Polgara most of all

7. Rapunzel from Tangled. To make it short, I got the dvd the year I went no-contact with my mom, and I watched it dozens of time, and it was very therapeutic.

6.Katniss Everdeen, but specifically from the book as I wasn't too impressed with the films. She's just a fascinating character, with so much rage and anger (all justified!!) and it's really cool to see her grow to understand that her world is even more fucked up than she thought, and trying to figure out how to deal with it when everyone is trying to manipulate her one way or another.

5. Lan Xichen. I love his mix of gentle politeness and determination. He is a good man whose kindness is treated as a fault to be taken advantage of by his best friend. Again and again he is confronted with difficult choices (leaving or staying when his sects burns, what to do with lwj when he sides with wwx, what to do with jgy when his guilt is revealed) and he very sincerely tries his best with the information he has. I love him. Fuck but I love him. He is so good. He is so very good, and he tries so damn hard to be fair, and I love him.

4. Granny Weatherwax from the Discworld. She is a BITCH and we LOVE HER. Just. Damn, but there's something so reassuring about her existing as a character? Like. Yeah, she's not very nice. But she tries her best to be good, even when it's not easy, even when it's not pleasant.

3. Nie Huaisang. Whaaaaaat, he is only number three? what fraud is this?? But yeah, I love him a lot, and I think he's just cool. I have no idea who he is in canon. We know who he was, and who he appears to be, but there's pretty much no clues as to the person he really is. How much of the image he presents is real, how much is fake, and does it even matter, does he even know himself what's real or not? I love a character open to interpretation!

2. Bertha Mason (from Jane Eyre). I think she's just a fascinating character, shrouded in mysteries. She is the greatest of evils, and she is the greatest of victims. She is a murdering foul bitch, and she is a woman whose life was controlled by the men around her. There are so, so many ways to read her character, so many possible interpretations! It makes it really fun to write fanfics about her, and to read about people's opinions of her. Which... is kind of a theme here, uh?

Link from any of the main games except Skyward Sword. Listen I know he's usually got the personality of a paperclip, but also he's cool and brave and funny, and I've spent countless hours of my youth (...and of my adult years too...) playing Zelda games, and I started writing and drawing out of love for the franchise, and I just think he's a neat character bc you can project whatever you want upon him

I got to the 65-70% mark in ACOTAR and man it's like they decided to speed run the stupidity in it.

Spoilers under the cut

There is an incredibly unsexy sex scene when Tamlin is telling her she needs to return home for her safety. She does this whole pouty shit of like "Of course you'd send me awy, who would want someone like me all covered in thorns, waaah." Just hamfisting the meaning of the book title into the story in a jarring way, like girl. First off: You shed your prickly personality VERY quickly and have been pretty much just going with the flow and being happy for a majority of the book so far. Aside from not listening to some commands a few times you've been nothing but agreeable. Second: He literally just said he's sending you away for your protection and not because of your personality, why are you turning this threat of the WHOLE COURT and TAMLIN'S LANDS AND LIFE, into being about yourself?

So Feyre is sent back to the human world and just has all these incredibly weird internal thoughts begrudging humans- specifically the human servants of her family. GIRL THEY'RE SERVANTS they aren't going to look so fucking perfect like the dumb fae servants that can just flick their wrist and glamour any dirt away.

And then she has all these snobby thoughts about like "ohhh my family doesn't want for everything and has a beautiful estate again but it's not the irrationally flawless fae lands. These clothes are beautiful but Im sooooo used to the decadent silks it's not good enough for me. wah wah wahh feel bad for me for living in insane privilege"

(she goes from poverty to being hand held into glamorous estate with bottomless wealth and excess and she just kinda gets used to it extremely quickly and nothing is asked of her really. And then later her and her family are literally handed wealth on a gold plate. Aside from the first few chapters of the book she is not struggling at all. There is so little conflict in this book it is so DULL, but it's simply written so it's easy to breeze through.)

and then like. There's the whole thing how she gives a FAKE full name to some evil faerie guy (who was literally just scrounging around in her fucking brain, like how did he not pull a NAME jfc, how did he not immediately know it was a lie) and Feyre finds out that her whole family and estate and servants were essentially murdered in a fire. Does she feel any remorse for it? No, all she does it worry about her bang buddy and how something must be totally wrong oh nooooo. And goes to save him.

And then she returns to the fae lands and ohhh boy. Miraculously one of the servants survived/escaped the whole throw down and then just fucking info dumps for paragraphs and PAGES.

My god. "Poor tamlin was under THIS INCREDIBLE CONTRIVED CURSE THIS WHOLE TIME, and we couldn't talk about it but god, Feyre you're such a bitchy human for not knowing and not breaking the curse!!!!!!!!!!!"

The thing that drives me crazy is like... Feyre doesn't even think how the whole set up was just some way for Tamlin to break his curse, all of it was just to woo her and get her to fall in love with him and I don't know, but if I found out the person I was falling for had set up all this stuff to manipulate my emotions to fall in love with him for his own gain I would be kind of put off by that? Just zero thoughts on her end, she's so down to clown with that fae dick, just accepts his confession of love is genuine despite everything else.

And like, the LORE DUMP that happens too, like. You mentioned a "she" a few times, but then it's like all dumped because of this dumb thing of "oh we couldn't talk about it with the curse and we couldn't talk about her at all (btw here is all her backstory to justify the incredibly convoluted curse, and also some of the politics of the land), which we never mention anyways and give no real hints about anything so like, yeah it's all your fault Feyre that Tamlin's in danger because your didn't break the curse you had no idea was a thing"

It's just a fucking WILD tone to take, especially when this is the servant that's been her personal maid basically.

The entire book has just been:

Faerie character: Feyre don't do this thing. Listen to me without me explaining why you shouldn't do this thing. Have total faith in my words. You don't need to know why.

Feyre: I think I will do this thing anyways ahah!!!!!

Faeria character: god damn it Feyre the thing you did has all this bad stuff involved with it!!!!!!!! why didn't you listen!!!!!!!!!!

Tamlin: I am going to flaunt my wealth and power and be attractive.

Feyre: I want to bang him, that means i love him

like I was telling you, I feel like I over-answered all of these cause I was trying hard not to make Nikka sound like a total prick lmfao.

Eros/2: sex in a relationship is pretty important to Nikka in the sense that like… that’s pretty much the basis of his relationships, ha. they sure aren’t feelings-based, Nik won’t allow for that. it was too complicated and risky when he was in the Circles (or… bouncing around them). since then, he’s also found it to be a good way to convey words and feelings that he can’t make himself express/let himself actually have (see: his entire relationship with Cullen). but the more he distance himself from his years in a Circle, and the more he grows… I don’t think he’d see it as quite as ‘vital’ anymore, because there finally is more to relationships.

Eros/5: Nikka doesn’t put too much thought into his looks, so it doesn’t factor in a whole lot to his self-confidence. he knows he’s a fairly handsome guy, and that’s nice and all, but it doesn’t really matter. the only time his confidence in his appearance kind of take a hit is when he starts getting with Cullen who’s like… 10-15 years (haven’t settle on an exact age) his junior. Cullen is like the human embodiment meant of heroic carved statue and, and he is… an old mage who shows how much he’s been beaten down by the world. but even then, there’s bigger issues in their relationship than if he’s hot enough for Cullen and it still doesn’t factor in a whole lot, ha.

Philia/3: patience and understanding are probably things that Nikka, even if he isn’t specifically looking for that, could use in his friendships. surprising absolutely no one, Nikka has a bad habit of saying or doing the exact wrong thing or making situations worse, but the thing is… for the most part, he is really trying. yeah, he definitely sometimes purposefully says bitchy, biting things as a defensive mechanism, but that’s a whole separate issue. this is just… Nik trying his best in social situations and still not quite getting there/coming off in ways he doesn’t intend. it’s why he really really appreciates people like Iron Bull who, for some reason unbeknownst to everyone, including Nik, thinks Nikka is absolutely hilarious. bff’s.

Philia/4: Nikka has a hard time making friends with anyone, but definitely with people really different from him, at least like… when it comes to their views. this kinda goes with Philautia/3, in that he’s… kinda judgmental, so if he doesn’t have people on the same page as him, he tends to struggle more than usual, mostly because he just uhhh. doesn’t try. you know that like ‘this isn’t a disagreement over pizza toppings’ thing re: when you can disagree about things and still be friends? there’s very few of Nik’s beliefs that he sees as trivial enough to be on that level.

Storge/5: it’s not a singular person that Nikka has loved unconditionally, but a group—any of the young mages that found themselves in the circle. Nik may act like his heart is made of ice, but he has such a soft spot them, loves them like they are his own kin, wants to care for them and protect them at all costs, and he has no expectation of anything back from any of them in return. they can hate him for all he cares (and I’m sure some of them do—loving them also means calling them out on shit, and we know Nikka can be fairly… blunt, to put it nicely), so long as they’re safe. it’s probably a reflection of the type of love he didn’t feel he got. and it’s also not something he has afforded to others besides the little magelings.

Agape/2: I know what you’re getting at here because I’ve shared the ‘Nikka loves weather’ fact recently lol, and he does, and he loves nature, and all things outside in general, but I dunno that he considers that a necessarily ~spiritual~ connection (mostly because he doesn’t consider himself much or a spritual person, period), just a byproduct of a few decades of captivity. the feelings that it inspires though, the thrill and sense of freedom and peace that comes from simple things like lying in tall grass or feeling mud between his toes or snowflakes sticking in his eyelashes… it probably is akin to something spiritual.

Agape/5: Nikka really does not even try to empathize with his enemies. if you are against him, or he perceives you as against him, then that’s that. he can maybe be a little too black and white on things like that, refusing to acknowledge nuance or exceptions to rules (rules which he has determined, which aren’t always fair). it takes a lot of outside coercion/convincing to convince Nikka to like, maybe not be so harsh in his judgment at all times. sometimes the enemy perceives is not nearly as great as he makes it out to be (see: his detestation for all Templars on principle, for one example).

Ludus/5: answered heeere.

Pragma/2: the biggest challenge Nikka has had to overcome while in a relationship is probably like… what made that same relationship such a struggle in the first place, and that’s his distrust (and honestly, hate) that he has for Templars on principle. as I’ve said before, Cullen and him have history, and just about none of it good, and so when you combine those things, then… it was a big struggle. Nikka needed to work through lot of biases/prejudices and uhhh, stop lashing out at Cullen unjustifiably (it…wasn’t a good relationship at first, if you could even call it that) and decide if he wanted to try to make a relationship actually work. believe it or not it was also a Templar who helped Nikka through a lot of it, because despite the positions they find themselves in now, in now, Samson was once the one Templar Nik ever trusted, and now he’s sitting in the Inquisiton’s dungeon…

Philautia/1+5: putting these together because they’re really similar in this case. when Nikka was younger, his view of his own worth/value was a little skewed… he’d been willingly given up by his parents, he’d been told verything about him was bad and wrong simply because he’d developed magic, he learned that at best he was a tool to serve others. Nikka was so angry about all of that, and he stewed in that anger. and over time, that opinion of himself changed over time, learning that being a mage didn’t make him any lesser, refusing to see himself that way or to let anyone make him feel like less than he is. it’s why, after he decides that he’s actually going to stay with the Inquisition and not flee into the night, he has to put some work into not going on a power trip. because it’s be really great to show people how powerful he is and how he’s not to be messed with.

Philautia/3: Nikka is definitely a little judgey, and a little hypocritical in that judgment. he seems to have excuses/justifications for all of his behavior (I have never done anything wrong in my life.jpg) and why it should be acceptable/why it isn’t that bad. Nik has a bit of a complex about how like… he’s earnedsome leeway after how much shit he’s been through. but he doesn’t tend to afford the same to other people, and Nik can be pretty… harsh in response. it’s something he’s working on, even if it doesn’t seem like it/seem like it’s going well lmao.

J » Jealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

This is based off something Isayama (may or may not have) said—but I don’t think Levi is a jealous person, not in canon at least: if he’s with you, it’s already expected that he trusts you within an inch of his life, so when it comes to others talking you up or shooting you a flirty look, it doesn’t bother him in any way—he’s confident where your loyalties lie.

However, there are exceptions. For one, if you playfully flirt back, and Levi is either within earshot or finds out (of course you’d be joking, but he’s bad at reading tone as it is and would likely misinterpret), he would immediately shut down and blame himself.

He has a lot of insecurity, especially in the realm of relationships and intimacy. He would assume he isn’t being open enough, did something wrong, or is wrong. He would totally cave inward and suppress his upset until he inevitably blows up/breaks down.

For Levi specifically this would look like bitchiness and passive aggressiveness until the misunderstanding is resolved. He needs to be pet on the head, made some steaming tea and reassured that you still want him :( The abandonment issues are severe with this one.

“Huh? Lev’, all I want is you. Don’t be silly.” You smooth his hair down, tucking him against your side.

He sets his jaw, cheeks dusted in pink. “…You sure?”

“Always.”

So Levi isn’t a jealous person—that doesn’t mean he isn’t (over)protective. A situation looks unsafe? His eyes are on you. You’re shifting away and hunching up, uncomfortable? Levi is immediately striding between you and the other person and breaking up the interaction. He’ll be rude regardless, but depending on the threat, he is absolutely willing to smash a few heads together to ensure you’re safe.

“Shut your shitty mouth. You’ll turn around and go back to your pathetic friends if you know what’s good for you.”

Depending on how his partner sees it, his protectiveness can be... a bit much sometimes. Levi knows you're perfectly capable of protecting yourself, but he’s lost a lot—don’t blame him for keeping an extra-close eye on you. He refuses to lose someone else he cares about, let alone the most precious person in his life :(

K » Kiss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?

Levi is a heart-stopping, intimate, incredible kisser - not because he has mountains of experience, but because he’s so adept at reading his partner. He’s as awkward as he is a quick learner, and he has these soft, full, pink perfect lips… and he wears a little chapstick. I can’t be convinced of this otherwise.

He’s the type to ask if he can kiss you before he does it, if he’s the one to initiate it - i severely doubt he would be.

You would snake your fingers down his jaw and gently pull him towards you for him to understand. His eyes widen a little in surprise, lips gently parting in preparation for yours to fall over his own. He can’t even think to respond in kind when it first happens because he’s stunned?? The soft press of your lips feels so nice moving against his and there’s this anxious ball of delight pingponging inside him????

When he can think, he would move so slow, testing the waters and what he likes (but more importantly to him, what you like). As I said, he’s a quick learner, and he falls in rhythm pretty quickly the more kisses you share.

Levi is the type to kiss shyly, but as soon as you press closer, he’s molding your lips together and tilting his head and - god, he’s so passionate. It’s not just that either, because when he kisses his partner his hands are always gonna be on you somewhere: cradling your cheek, resting on the nape of your neck, pressing you close by the small of your back… He’s always needing you closer.

L » Love Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?

Levi would simply not; not unless he knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that you felt the same as him, or he just couldn’t go on denying it anymore (see: his constant fixation on your safety, especially on expeditions, and his slyrocketing sexual desire.)

You have to live rent-free in his mind before he even considers confessing how he feels. Levi doesn’t normally deal in feelings, you know??😭Not to mention his crippling horror of losing someone else he lets in too close.

As for how? In a very convoluted, indirect way that you may have to read between the lines to understand. He’s not a wordy person, nor is he good at putting them together.

Honestly?? I think he’d go out of his way to figure out what your favorite flower/treat/thing is and buy them, give them to you, then stammer out something along the lines of:

“I… did this because I wanted to. We want the same things.” He swallows thickly. “You look nice today.”

He is so precious—very awkward, but for the emotions he can’t figure out how to convey through words, he will go through all sorts of lengths to communicate it in other ways.

It’s so much easier if you confessed to him, tbh. Levi will take the initiative if he has no other choice, but I don’t see him as being a charmer, or even that charismatic. He simply knows he wants to be with you, and shows that in the best ways he knows how.

That’s what I gather from canon!Levi, at least.

M » Marriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

Levi doesn’t see marriage as the end goal in a relationship, no way no how - but ofc the idea of such a grand gesture of commitment is a thought that he’d be all-in for, if you want that with him. But he lived his whole life outside the norm and knows just how precious life and love is - he’s happy just be with you. Marriage isn’t a requirement to him.

He draws meaning from softer, more fleeting moments. Take just sharing a pot of tea early in the morning, lounging on the porch and admiring the sunrise. It’s the small things, and it’d have to be a pretty damn serious relationship for him to play around the idea of committing yourselves to each other for the rest of your lives (that is, making it official). But when he gets the idea in his head?? Starts yearning for it every time your hands link together and spots your lonely ring finger?? omg.

There are character interviews that have spread around, detailing that the way Levi would propose is by asking in some typa way, “Would you live with me?” And I find this to be accurate!

He doesn’t find the words so important, but he would make the moment precious all he can. Levi has too much patience to propose spontaneously, but considering how nervous he’d be, he’d jump the gun and probably swipe out the ring earlier in the evening than he planned.

Just… bringing you somewhere nice, treating you to a nice time with a gazebo, or a little secluded place by the docks. His hands pick up a light tremble which he can’t hide in his pockets when he takes out the ring, and takes your hand. I don’t think he’d necessarily get down on one knee (he does not have a flair for dramatics lol), but he’d ask the question in a rambling, stammering way because he cannot get across just how fucking much he wants to be by your side the rest of your lives.

The married life with Levi wouldn’t differ so much from the era of your relationship before that landmark point in your lives. Things are very much the same: he loves you the same, he tends to your garden the same, he makes you tea and kisses you good morning the same, but it feels more… real now. You’re committed to each other until death, and that promise no longer goes unspoken or is conveyed in words like I love you, you know? It’s comfortable and content :) cue the rest of your lives

Now, I could recommend you anything and everything by Saran and I have no doubt that you would love all of it. There’s not a single thing in her masterlist that I dislike, she even made me okay with the idea of pegging Levi bye. The entire tbah universe (specifically parental moments one) has a special place in my heart, but recently the perpendicular world has been on my mind, and might be coming for number one. Either way, you’re gonna love it. She writes Levi in his slightly bitchy, kinda needy, implicitly affectionate, true to nature form, and I am so grateful for it. Also, Saran is a comedian.

I suck at keeping up with series, and, so, naturally, I’m terribly behind on this one, but I’m gonna go ahead and rec the whole thing to you anyway, because I have no doubt that the other chapters are just as great the two I’ve read so far. The way she writes Levi... when I tell you I could wrap myself up in a blanket and binge this whole series, and her entire masterlist, and be very content I mean it; her writing feels warm, that’s the only way I can explain it.

Domestic fluff with Levi, allowing me to pretend I’m a morning person, and just the right kind of smut to go with it. Simple and very, very effective. I’ve reread it a few times by now, no shame.

Her characterization of Levi is perfect, and something about her prose feels very clean and simple, but elevated and layered at the same time. Yeah... this shouldn’t be a surprise. Fantastic writing, fluff in canonverse has a special place in my heart because I think it can be really hard to pull off well; it’s difficult to balance a sense of softness within the aot universe for the obvious reasons, and getting Levi’s caring nature right can be (unfortunately) so hard to find. Good thing people like Sorcha are here. Enjoy more fluff. Also this fic is particularly fantastic to me not just because of the injured lover trope, but because the 104th babies pay a visit and you all know how much I love a good glimpse of reluctant adoptive dad Levi hehe
