Ogay now your turn, who was your blorbo(s) before???
Damn... This is a harder question than it seems, because it is... hard to remember? My brain got SO rotted with Soulsborne world that I legit am forgetting how things used to be before that? It doesn't help that my feelings about the character and how much I talk about them / do for them do not always match! As a result, I have three types of blorbos:
1) The 'real' blorbo: The one that evokes the most feelings and I actively fantasize about being with, one that sparks yearning and attraction and consumes the most of my thoughts, but I won't do enough with
2) The 'productive' blorbo: The one which I practically breathe life in and create entire story and world for when canon didn't provide much and/or this character is unpopular. They often become crucial part of my online identity, or JUST my identity o_o'
3) The 'fanmade' blorbo: It is either an AU version of the character, an interpretation so unfitting and far from canon vibe that it almost works as an OC, or JUST an OC. I actually love/hate this one, because this is the asshole that will always make me stray from working on canon!! They will make me focus so much on them that depending on the nature of the character, I will forget the canon vibe in my love for this version or will forsaken general source material to join an AU/RP where this character is. Let me focus on canon-palatable creativity and stop wasting my time, dipshits!!
So, to give you the idea, in Bloodborne, type one would be, of course, Micolash, Edgar and Maria (but mostly Micolash)! Type two would be Rom and Izzy. And since recently my Laurence is between 1 and 2 because he is really S E X Y but also I have to create everything for him xD. Type three would be... uh...
My previous "fandom" was UTDR, but that stay was a little short-lasting, since Deltarune is work in progress and Undertale did not have the same grip on me. In there, my type one blorbo were Rouxls Kaard and Mettaton! You can tell I love the flamboyant sexy man with fake depth, fair level of depravity but not evilness, and intelligence of a brick dshhfdsdds My art never felt good enough to capture Mettaton's confident energy, however, I'd like to show this fanart of Rouxls:
Type two blorbo were Mad MewMew, Catti, and Diamond King! The latter two were sort of underdeveloped in canon at the time, and for MewMew I actually had a bunch of things, and even RPed as her for some time! Developing Diamond King was quite fun, though he was dangerously close to type 3 because of AU stuff where HE was the bad guy and not Spade King (and Catti was the 'monster' of the prophesy). Besides, we did give him a wife who is not getting used in canon but exists in the cards deck that WAS used for the 'cards'.
(EDIT: I made these sprites and I forgot that I made them and not Val o_o" Because it's been a few years ago + I am scatter-brained. Oh jeez)
And type three happened when I delved into helping to work on an AU for Deltarune, a project a passionate person started in hunger for completion of Deltarune, following after Chapter 1 and ignoring everything. Basically, attempt to finish the game that had AMAZING story and characters! I lended many designs, ideas and characters for it, improving it very significantly. I no longer work on that project and gave all rights to my designs and creative solutions to the developer, but it was FUN. And like I said, distracted me from the canon-palatable creativity. And helped me to finally come to terms with the fact that I am way better at nurturing, supporting, editing and improving someone else's projects than creating my own. It was a long time coming realisation considering how half of my drawings for any fandom used to be fanart of other people's ideas and OCs or fanart for our RP plots. Not something that can happen in this fandom because... you know. But yeah, I've always been the guy that would draw a pile of everyone's OCs/interpretations in the community, or help someone with no coherent design idea to GET that design down!
...ak-hem, where was I? Right, blorbos. So, the 'fanmade' blorbos were, of course, our version of Diamond Queen and... this BITCH:
This is Ace of Hearts! And Insight joke is actually something I just made up, since I made this guy before I knew anything about Bloodborne! It aged like fucking milk, hahahahaha!! To give you the idea of what I had to do to design the Aces, here are the cards by Kanotynes that Toby was using:
These are the face cards ( x )! If you saw Deltarune's chapter one, you can see how and which designs were used, and which changed.
And this is the only image of all cards I can reliably find ( x ). You can see that number cards were de-personalised and are just various things. So what I did was combining the face card look and find a way to "fuck it up", since Aces learned A LOT of 'Chaos' and not only part of it like Jevil (and now Spamton)! Here are the rest of them:
You can tell, even in healthy forms, they'd still be a bit... 'strange' compared with face cards. Ace of Clubs in healthy form would have only one head and one horn, and his 99 Insight Chaos version has 11 heads each with one peace of their body or face... And Ace of Diamonds would be a snake with 'umbrella' skin, which is nothing like other Diamond suits!
I was the one to insist that we have Aces in the project, conceptualised them, designed them, wrote them lore etc. And Ace of Hearts was my favourite, and also the scariest one. (of course I like the most creepy one -_-) It was also the first situation where I got obsessed with my OWN non-canon stuff... although, technically, they are no longer mine, since I passed the designs and right to write and use to the owner completely. Maybe it is to the better, as I moved closer towards enjoying my own content more!

Gotta say, the Hazbin fandom has been the first in a while I've felt welcomed into instantly. Often it takes a while to kinda integrate into different fandoms in rp but y'all have been so nice. Thank y'all for that, I'm hyped to throw my two cretchurs at all of you ehehe.

By the Main Story (1721), there is ONE person among the Seven who can be relied on for the English language... and that is-
Phoebus. Because he was the one who ran away to befriend an English family of landed gentry and almost marry their daughter.
And he had it good. Beautiful and saucy fiancee Deborah, a real older-brother figure in Abram, a hero-worshipper in their younger brother Isaac, and their father, Anglican chaplain Maximilian, is even accepting of him as a French Jew. Things could have gotten well. But with news of La Brújula being found and the Master coming back.... well. You know the rest.
So while Phoebus is able to hold a conversation in English, it's not perfect. He'll throw around some French or Ladino words here and there, especially 'oh lala' or 'guay de mi', or fumble certain words like 'pants' ("as in trousers or underwear????"), but at the very least, at the start of the story, he can tell when someone is telling them to go away and then relay that message to the Crew.
Throughout the Main Story, though, the Crew eventually pick up English some more, mainly as a necessity to communicate with the Crew of the Barracuda. While some of the Barracuda can speak in Portuguese (namely Captain Ravyn and Robert Heyder), they can't rely on this for everyone else.
Funnily enough, the one who would make efforts in learning English for the sake of personally communicating with the Barracuda Crew is Ruixiong. With intention to impress Helen, with whom he'd otherwise speak Guanhua (the official Mandarin of the time). This then inspires the others to pick up English overtime.
Though I can't say it'd be fully mastered by the end of the story, but at least around the Levant Arc, everyone of the Seven can hold an in-depth conversation in English. It's not PERFECT, and surely there will be fumbles, but it's there, and not limited to more and more of just "GIVE US THE COMPASS!!"

Experiencing a kind of special grief/anger shift when u go from being like an ally to x group but then u realize you're one of them and it's like rather than "It's terrible that x community/person hates x group" it's like wow actually x community/person hates me
And it's not any more personal than it was before but it feels like it
It seems dumb but this is me learning I actually do have a (mild) form of dyslexia, and that all of my yelling about accessibility and feeling out of my mind bc how do ppl not see and "Well if I'm struggling then people with Actual issues would struggle too" in fan/rp spaces where the focus is not legibility w small text usually for aesthetic or little what seem to me speedbumps added to a soup field and then realizing I Have the issue

#so I have this pet peeve#when I look under the tag for RP memes there are always people's ask replies in there too#and I don't know it bugs me#it's like yeah idgaf abt your character?#like idek maybe it's a sneaky way to get more engagement#but for some reason it rubs me all wrong#makes me cranky#especially when I'm scrolling and it's half prompts and half answered asks#and it's almost always either some anime character or briefly the FFXIV RP community was obnoxiously strong for awhile#now I just see them once a month at the most posting character pictures#ooc;

why do some writers think it’s enough to simply exist and that they don’t have to put in any effort to communicate with anyone but then be confused when they don’t get any partners? they will never like any of your plotting calls or reply to other peoples open starters or send messages but then make you feel bad that you can’t read their minds that they want to write with you? i don’t get it. roleplaying is a duet. a collaboration. making it a one way street just zaps all the fun and energy out of it. i am not saying you have to be super active and bend over backwards all the time, i am saying just put in a sprinkle of effort and enthusiasm and you would be surprised how much other writers appreciate and value it. it’s a sure fire way to make partners for life. i have been writing with one partner i met here on tumblr for 12 years and we have written together through many different fandoms/phases/mediums. communication really is key and you can gain so many great partners by just making yourself known and participating in the community around you.

FF7 Compilation Verses Info - Kayden
Name: Kayden Undāre
Birthday & Age: October 18th, 1981. 21 (crisis core) / 28 (FF7) / 30 (AC) / 31 (DoC)
About:
Born in Junon Harbor to loving but busy parents, Kayden was no strange to the influence of Shinra, especially with her father working with the branch of Shinra in Junon. While her childhood was rather common, she grew up around many who wished to join the new SOLDIER program once it became known, and even was encouraged by her father to find a job with Shinra when she got older. Though, how she would eventually work for Shinra for a time would lead to her cutting off all contact with her parents, a tumultuous choice, but one she felt she had to do.
With many of her friends and classmates excited to work for Shinra, with the boys in particular wanting to join SOLDIER, she eventually felt similarly and decided that she would join the company. However, she wasn't interested in working for Shinra as a fighter initially. At 16, she joined Shinra to be an on field medic, wanting rather to help heal and keep others alive than take lives herself. Rather good at keeping up with infantry, once her training was (mostly) complete, she soon was deployed as a field medic during the War with Wutai. Any thoughts and feelings she had on Shinra would, over time, grow sour as she watched the destruction they caused, along with the mental turmoil and pain that those she called friends suffered due to being thrust into war so young.
On one mission through Wutai territory, she was sent along with the troops, including a few SOLDIER 3rds, as well as trio of researchers. The goal was, of course, to find mako rich territory that Shinra could possibly start using, even as the war continued. However, 3/4ths of the way through the trip to the first site, they stumbled into an ambush. The troops, particularly the SOLDIERS, made a formidable defense for Kayden and the researchers to hide behind, with Kayden casting Cures and Restores anytime someone suffered damaged. However, so focused on keeping her allies alive, she missed the bomb that was thrown their way, from behind, until the last moment.
As the SOLDIERS won the fight, the bomb from behind them destroyed Kaydens' legs with shrapnel embedding into her back and tearing open the skin when she collapsed. As the only dedicated medic in the group, the infantrymen held a perimeter while one of the SOLDIERS and the three researchers did what they could to keep her alive through materia use, a somewhat hastily done cauterization to one leg, emergency surgery and removal of shrapnel, one of the researchers eventually fell onto their last resort - mako injections. With the unit having worked together to keep her stable, multiple mako injections were given in quick succession before they were met up by another unit that took her back to the base camp. Not knowing if she would survive but not having the ability to return her to Shinra headquarters for nearly a week, the researcher continued to give her mako injections, which were supposed to be given to the SOLDIER 3rds as part of one of Hojo's many experiments, in an attempt to keep her alive.
When she was returned to Shinra headquarters, she was moved from Medical to Science, and joined, subtly, and without her knowledge, into a separate test. While she did not official join SOLDIER, Science continued to give her injections, enough to the point where she contained a similar concentration of mako to SOLDIER 2nds, but without the combat training. That wouldn't last long though, as, once her injuries were healed and two prosthetic legs were attached, she stayed in her role as field medic. This, too, changed rapidly, as a sudden order from the Turks removed her from her position and she, again without knowledge being shared to her initially, became something of a Turk. While she was not fully on theirs, she was also not SOLDIER, and tended to stay out of the light as a result.
During the events of SOLDIER 1st Class Genesis Rhapsodos' desertion, she took advantage of the focus remaining on his actions, and used that as her chance to escape from her own predicament. Disappearing into the wind, she left one last message with her family before dropping all contact with them and doing everything she could to try and stay away from Shinra. Whether it was through their resources becoming more strained as more things started to fall apart in SOLDIER, or whether it was luck, she managed to find a place for herself in the Sector 5 Slums while waiting for the storm to blow over.
Over time, she stayed in the slums, figuring that if the Turks didn't come looking for her, she was alright to stay hidden under the plate. Though she preferred to stay in the Sector 5, she found work in all of the sectors' slums, particularly with the neighborhood watch as she used the chance to fight monsters as a way to keep herself trained with the skills she learned while fighting for Shinra and with the Turks. That, and she was able to help the doctor in making medicines for the kids, which is how she became acquainted with Aerith. She also, on occasion, would take a gig or two for the Honey Bee Inn.
When Avalanche made itself known through the reactor bombings, she decided to try and find them, hoping to join their cause. Being a known fighter in the Sector 5 slums, she was able to get into contact with Cloud, Tifa, and Barrett after the Sector 7 plate dropped. Joining them on their search for Aerith, she joined Avalanche unofficially in the process and aligned her goals with theirs, including in their plan to defy destiny's course for them.
Years later, when Geostigma started to show, she went back to the Sector 5 slums in the hopes of finding some way to help the kids who were sick. Relying on her own medical knowledge could only get her so far of course, and so, when the Remnants showed and Avalanche once again pulled together she joined in their cause. However, she knew at the time that degradation was starting to take root in her body, and though she did all she could to help, she knew she couldn't fight like she used to, and thus lended more support through materia than before. When the waters from the church came forth, she was cured of her degradation, and then went back to work, both as a merc, and as medic.

This is a little personal so feel free to not answer it but. When did you realize you liked men?
Ohh, goodness... well... this is a story and a half, honestly-
Well, I've always liked men. I have an interesting perspective with this because... well, I wasn't born a cis man. I was viewed as a girl for a very long time, so it was normal for me to be attracted to men.
I guess really more for me was... realizing that I liked men in a more... specific way. I only really, truly felt comfortable liking a man when they knew I was a man. To put it simply, I identified more with being a gay man than a straight woman.
My family wasn't... excited about it... but... that's a story for another time, I think-
A lot of my self discovery took place in college. I met Sandy and Pigsy there, and they were really helpful in trying to support me with everything I was going through! And, well... later into our college careers, me and Pigsy met and... started dating...! I was his bisexual awakening, apparently... aheh... (don't worry! he's given me permission to say this!!)
I honestly owe a lot of my experiences as a queer person to them... It was difficult navigating it at the time, but having them there with me and being so supportive? It meant the world to me. I'm honestly so lucky to have had them and still have them in my life to this day!
Sorry if this isn't exactly what you were looking for but... being a trans man makes my experience of being gay a little... different than from a cis gay man's experience, if that makes sense!

//I am significantly less anal about "realism" in fight scenes, especially as I researched real life kung fu and then compared them to wuxia films, or Hollywood swashbuckling sword fights compared to real life fencing.
It's less about the discipline and realistic portrayal and more about the narrative. In reality, real fights are seldom last longer than a few seconds, don't involve fancy and unnecessary moves, and a single contact blow can risk major or even life-changing injury. But where is the fun of that in an exciting story with flying death-defying pirates where golems rise from the mud and daggers fly like they are alive?
Usually my threshold to cross between "exciting and cool" and "really cringey and obviously choreographed to pad out budget/visuals" is dependent on the story. Does this super awesome and super unrealistic fight serve a purpose to the story? Then you'll know my answer. I am the kind of person who can be super bored with what is supposed to be an exciting fight scene--I slept throughout all of Matrix 2 in theaters since the opening combat sequence, for example, and I groaned and rolled my eyes throughout the final battle (and even the wedding) of POTC3. So the issue of choreography, visuals, and spectacle isn't the issue, even if I may favor it over a 10-second honestly-boring-as-hell real life fencing match.
RPing fights on Tumblr, as I have found out, extremely bores me to tears. This isn't to say the RP partner is boring--it's just that fights are meant to be fast-paced, without the need to draw out the sequence with pages upon pages between days and weeks to describe one single stroke of action. If our muses are to fight and you REALLY want to write out the fight itself, consider these:
Is the fight intended to show the muse's powers on full display with the goal of developing your character and having a grasp of their abilities? HECK YEAH, let's do it!
Is the fight to settle a dispute? Hell yeah, let's do that too! But's let's plot out the outcome and work our way to it.
Is the fight a story in itself, where a piece of land or property has to be defended from a siege/heist, or a monster is on a rampage, or the stakes are otherwise high in some way? FUCK YEAH FUCK YEAH FUCK YEAH, GIVE ME THAT SHIT!
Is the fight for the muses to "prove" themselves in-story, like for a job offer, or a short demonstration of a new ability? Let's please keep this short and to the point, as the fight is intended to be a stepping stone to a greater narrative rather than the focal point of the scene. Otherwise, these are fun in their own right.
Is it just goofiness? Crack? Or in-universe banter and silliness, like two bros duking it out in drunken brawl in a bar? Also short and to the point. Fun times CAN drag out and overstay their welcome. But note I love that shit to. In fact, I tend to adore these sort of fights the most.
Is the fight to obtain satisfaction from destroying my muses with their super awesome superpowers (without proper planning and prompt)? No. Fuck that shit. I hate RP fights to prove power and powerscaling. The first instance is different because the intention is development. There is a difference between "Look how cool my character can turn into shadows!" and "Look at how I have all the best armor in the world and I can kill God, also I can fly and turn into shadow!" THIS is where it crosses the line into cringey and I lose interest altogether. In that case, I just throw the fight and walk away, you can kiss my ass for not giving you the satisfaction of pwning my muses, and that is WITH the fact I write villains/antagonists.
Now if the fight is intended for anything else beyond these--or they fall into the "please keep it short" categories but you want to write them more out--then that's fine. I'd rather take these to Discord, where the fight can be written out in real time so the risk of dragging out won't happen. I don't want to clog my mutuals/followers' dashboard with constant reblogs of what is supposed to be a 2 minute fight. That's just, in my opinion, impolite.

♦ What was a mildly annoying thing that has happened to you rp wise?
mostly lack of communication, including those dumbass confessional blogs that were all the rage 10 or 9 years ago.
It's a shame that 'positivity' blogs thereafter didn't seem to pick up, but I can see why- They can make some prime fodder for feelings of FOMO, even in the best of times.
Communication has improved over the years, but I still advise to start small- whether that be negative or positive, you don't have to wait until the last second to message your partners! whether that's about having your boundaries crossed or questioning, or giving em praise, or asking about plot/shipping/biography shit.
