#episodes more sensical if all this was true
rick's backstory introduced a lot of plot holes and basically you can either accept the pre-backstory-reveal era as its own subset of canon OR you can headcanon ways for them to make sense SO i think the main issue with the multiverse setup is birdperson, because he's presumably as infinite as everyone else BUT the way rick acts about him would only make sense if it's always the same birdperson FURTHERMORE some moments absolutely ring hollow because of the backstory, in particular any nods to rick c-137 and morty prime having interacted before rick landed in the prime dimension just before s1 such as the picture of rick holding baby morty in bird person's house and rick's memory of holding baby morty SO for the sake of narrative cohesion rick should always have been friends with the same birdperson, and to a lesser extent the same morty, and overall because rick knew the prime dimension was the prime dimension when he settled there it makes sense for him to have spent a lot of time there before THEREFORE instead of his birdperson being some random universe's birdperson it would make sense for him to be the prime dimension's birdperson AND THEN with the possibility that rick spent a lot of time in the prime dimension prior to s1 (and even the creation of the citadel of ricks) while he hunted rick prime - it makes sense for him to have exhausted earth prime for resources on where to find rick prime SO that means he may have even been around the prime dimension for morty prime's birth (maybe part of him thought morty's birth would draw rick prime back into the picture, who knows) AND SO the baby photos and memories are indeed of morty prime. ffdkffffggjtjfgggg,,,,,,,,, ,,

HI STEPH!!!! Hope your break is nice and relaxing!
So, I just watched the first episode of Season 4 with my family, and the characterization just feels really off. Like, John cheating could maybe make some sense if you twisted it the right way, but him yelling at Sherlock?? Absolutely uncalled for.
Also, Mary was also out of character? Like she was almost too in love with John?
This really has no point; I just needed to talk to someone about it, and you’re my go-to for anything Johnlock :)
Anyway, many hugs and love!!!!!!!
Hey Lovely!
UGGGGHHHH TELL ME ABOUT IT. S4 is SO fucky and it's SO frustrating. Nothing about it feels right, and it constantly feels like Mofftiss gave no shits about it anymore. I feel bad for literally almost everyone else because they all did the best with what they had to work with, but S4 just feels like Mofftiss was annoyed the fandom "figured out" the endgame and instead went with non-sensical twists that were dumb. It shouldn't have happened at all.
They ruined Mary who was being built up to be a kickass villain. They ruined the budding relationship between Molly and Lestrade. On that same note, they made Lestrade this weird dumb-fuck and Molly reverted back to ASiP Molly. They dumbified John and Mycroft (why Gatiss fucked up his own character is beyond me). They introduced a stupid baby that was only there for filler. They introduced a weird magical unknown sister. They made Sherlock stupid as fuck, and Mary suddenly more clever than everyone else. Every actor is half-assing the script because they know it's shit. The whole season has a tonne of inconsistencies and fuckery.
I have my own VERY salty theories about what really was going on in real life, but I'll keep that to myself... the TINHAT part of me believes it was intentional given the VERY HARD TO MISS fourth wall breaks and in turn I believe it's actually an Unreliable Narrator situation, and it's John's Alibi that John or Sherlock wrote on their blog is actually what we're watching and not the true events of the show. Especially given how everyone pretends John doesn't have a blog in T6T, which is really bizarre, it FEELS very fake.
Check out my "something's fucky" tag for some more interesting shit happening in S4. But yeah, Just... S4 should have been great. The only way it could redeem itself at this point is if S5 (if it ever happens) is what most of us are hoping it to be: confirming S4 was fake, and S5 is really what happened during the events of S4 (the "Twin Series Theory").

Sometimes killing off a character makes sense.
(Beware: Haunting of Bly Manor spoiler for anyone that hasn't seen it yet!!!) For example, The Haunting of Bly Manor made sense to me, Dani's sacrifice was justified: she was trying to protect all those she held dear and she could feel her true self slipping away, giving into the Lady in the Lake. We got to see her and Jamie's love blossom over the whole season, their relationship never felt rushed to me. And her death, whilst tragically sad, moved the plot to a place that was actually sensical. Sometimes it's done right and it doesn't fit into the BYG trope.
But this. This did fall into that to me. It was just cruel. To have the writers tease us for 4 whole seasons, "will they won't they", for them to lazily cram their love into a few scenes in the final episode. To watch Villanelle die in the most traumatic way with Eve's deafening screams in the background... None of that felt justified, as I've already said, it just felt rushed and lazy and honestly nonsensical.
Sometimes a character's death brings closure to a story. And sometimes a character's death is used only to shock an audience with little to no meaning behind it and actually creates more holes, questions and no closure. I think we know where Killing Eve's finale falls.. and it's certainly not the former.

The whole plot point of Red asking Liz to kill him makes absolutely no sense and goes against his character-especially since we know he is probably Katarina or someone Liz would be devastated to find out she killed. He erased her memory of the night she killed her father to spare the trauma.
The ending was absolutely heartbreaking. I want to believe both Red and Liz realized each other knew the truth, and Liz could die peacefully in her mom’s arms. But I am sad we will never get a true scene where both are reacting to the truth.
Where do you think they could possibly go for season 9? What does Red have to live for? I am not sure I will be watching. Our blacklist is over. It was about the Liz-Red relationship, and now that’s gone. RIP Liz keen- it’s been a good 8 years.
I remain adamantly opposed to the idea of the final "truth" being Redarina despite what was shown in 8.21 and 8.22 because it is just so at odds with so much of what we were shown over the years, and what was said, especially in the early seasons. I look back at old scenes and I just shake my head in horror that anyone in the writer's room ever wrote what they wrote if THAT was their planned ending all along. The fact that they didn't fully own it in the end - whether because of the network or JB's love for double entendres - suggests that maybe there will be a new spin in the future. But without Liz alive to learn of it, WHO CARES?
Even if I accept Redarina as the narrative they tried to sell in these final two episodes (which I really don't), it just makes me that much more angry. How DARE Red ask Liz to kill him in exchange for the truth. How cruel to value his secret above her very soul and most especially if he was her parent. He said himself years ago that no one can kill someone in cold blood and come out ok on the other side. And yet that is exactly what he invited Liz to do. All for what? Because he was too ashamed/traumatized/embarrassed by the choices HE made? It's non-sensical and completely at odds with the Reddington I thought we knew. The fact that Liz was denied any opportunity to know and live with the truth beyond some ambiguous dying moment flash of recognition as she drew her last breath is abominable. They could not have handled this storyline more poorly if that is where they were going with it. And if it was not, the fact that they denied Liz the truth in the end doesn't make it any better.
I honestly have no clue where the show goes in S9. Red seemed more emotionally upset by Liz's death in S3 than he did this time. I'm not sure I could muster any empathy for him this time anyway. He brought it on himself through his attempt to control the narrative right up until the bitter end. He failed and everyone - especially Liz and Agnes - lost.

What were your thoughts on 'girl a'?
I have two main thoughts:
1)This is another example of how I think it's not really right to single out "True Crime" as an exploitive genre as opposed to this kind of "ripped from the headlines" fictional crime writing, this one being based on the Turpin family abuse case.
This story is also like Stillwater in that it shares *almost* all the details with the real and horrifying abuse case that it's based but changes a handful of key details to make the victims look less sympathetic or in some way at fault. I think that the "complicit victim" twist is a shitty one anyway, and in this book I'm not really spoiling anything because you can see that shit coming a mile away. But the fictional complicit victims in this case are based on real people who we have no evidence ever did anything like that. An honestly it felt more distasteful than any episode of My Favorite Murder
2)This is one of those books where the secret twist has to be maintained by deliberately withholding important and relevant information from the reader. The Eye of the Beholder Twilight Zone episode is always my best example of this annoying technique: Bizarre, non-sensical camera angles are used to hide all of the character's faces for 20 + minutes and it's so quickly noticeable that that's what's going on. In the same way it becomes pretty noticeable pretty quickly that there's a character with whom only one other character actually interacts.
It was also the second book I'd read in a month that had both these flaws. Dear Child is also exploitatively ripped from some headlines to make the victim look less sympathetic and also keeps withholding normal-ass information to draw out the twist. Alex North's The Shadows is the absolute worst case I've ever encountered: characters all avoid using any kind of gendered pronouns to refer to a murder victim for hundreds of pages to try to hide the identity of the actual murder victim from the reader and only the reader; all the characters all know who the victim is.
For me, a good thriller is all about the craftsmanship. I'm not looking for Great Literature but I expect a well constructed set of twists and turns with a satisfying pay-off. These were like moldy lularoe leggings.

My thoughts on the sexuality of some of my favorite X-files characters.
Tumblr media
I posted this in my X-files amino back in June as part of a LGBTQ pride challenge and for some reason I only just thought to post it here as well.
Tumblr media
Fox Mulder: openly bisexual
Mulder is so open sexually that I really don't think gender matters all that much to him. He does seem to prefer females but I wouldn't be even remotely surprised if he had a boyfriend or two in the past. I don't think he's flamboyant about his sexuality but I don't think he'd hide it at all either
My evidence:
In the season one episode "Ghost in the Machine" we meet an Mulder's ex-partner, Jerry, and I absolutely feel like there is an ex-lovers vibe to the both of them. They hug upon first seeing each other, Mulder looks incredibly happy to see him, when Mulder says they worked together Jerry corrects him to say they were partners at which point Mulder looks over at Scully as if to see her reaction. Mulder has this real guilty look to him. When Jerry acts a little self conscious Mulder is real quick to jump in and reassure him. They get in each other's personal space. It just really leaves me with the impression that they care deeply for one another and broke up for other reasons, perhaps the different career goals as Mulder tells Scully.
We also have Mulder with Krycek. From the very beginning of Krycek's involvement with the X-files I feel like the writers went out of their way to make a correlation between the change in partnership and a new partner in a relationship. There is a scene in Sleepless where Mulder and Scully are on the phone and Mulder tells Krycek he'll be right there, the rest of the conversation feels reminiscent of two exes chatting about the change brought about by the new relationship. Scully even brings up that it must be nice having a partner who doesn't question his every theory.
There were many scenes in Sleepless, Duane Barry, and Ascension in which Mulder and Krycek were alone but that we never got to see who knows for example what the two of them got to talking about while they were stuck in traffic during the drive to New York in Sleepless. Or how often they hung out between Sleepless and Duane Barry.
During Mulder and Scully's partnership Mulder only called her 'Dana' on a few emotional occasions. He started casually calling Krycek 'Alex' almost immediately.
Let us not forget the infamous speedo scene. While yes it definitely showed more of a Krycek attraction to Mulder than the opposite. It does make one wonder what led him to wear such a revealing bathing suit. How many straight men do you know who wear speedos? My guess is few. How many straight men wear speedos when they can reasonably assume their male partner will show up looking for them? Not many would be guess.
And then there is their relationship after Krycek is revealed to be a traitor. They both tend to act more like scorned lovers than enemies and notice that it's Mulder, not Krycek, who cannot seem to keep his hands off the other. Seriously it's like every time Krycek shows up, Mulder immediately grabs him.
Now here's a couple quotes from Mulder,
Krycek tells Mulder he most be losing it because Krycek beat him with one hand. Mulder's immediate reaction: "isn't that how you like to beat yourself?"
When the little man in Humbug is lined up pretty much exactly with Mulder's crotch he says that Mulder would be surprised how many women find his size alluring. Mulder's immediate reaction: "you'd be surprised how many men do as well"
How many straight guys do you know comfortable enough with their sexuality to make a gay innuendo? I personally cannot think of any.
Tumblr media
Dana Scully: bicurious
I believe that Scully is sometimes attracted to women. It definitely is not as blatant as with Mulder and I really don't think she's had any past girlfriends but I definitely think that there is an attraction.
My evidence:
In the episode "Ice" I really felt like there are a few tender moments between her and Felicity Huffman's character especially while they were examining one another for the worms. That examination had a sort of sexual energy to it I thought.
In the episode "kill switch" theres a moment where the Invisagoth asked if she could have her handcuffs removed or if she should type with her tongue. Mulder mentions that she doesn't want a vote there and the look on Scully's face and the way she licks her lips, I definitely get the impression that she would have been perfectly happy to see what Invisagoth could get up to with that tongue.
Some people point to Scully's relationship with Reyes as evidence of her bisexuality, I personally don't see any attraction there on Scully's side but I don't think its outside the realm of possibility.
Tumblr media
Monica Reyes: Closeted lesbian
This one's probably a surprise I know there was something between here and Brad as well as a flirtation with Doggett so you would probably think she was Bisexual but honestly was either one of those even remotely convincing? To me they weren't. I believe that Reyes is a lesbian.
I kind of go back and forth on whether she's open about it. Reyes is very spiritual and open so it seems strange that she would be in the closet but maybe she has a reason, fear of it affecting her career in the FBI perhaps? It just seems strange that she keeps pursuing these heterosexual relationships she has no passion for unless she is trying to hide her true passion.
My evidence:
I admit I really have very little evidence but look at the relationship between Reyes and Brad Follmer. It had all the chemistry of two people who got really drunk once and cannot remember sleeping together. I don't for a second believe she was ever in love with Brad nor he in love with her.
Then you've got the same thing between her and Doggett. Yes the writers were obviously trying for a romantic angle with the two of them but to me it never came across as convincing. It seemed more like she thought of him as a good friend and figured she might as well date him, I saw no evidence of love or attraction.
On the other hand look at her and Scully. While I feel like the attraction there was one sided I definitely feel like Reyes was into Scully or Dana as she would call her. Reyes was willing to risk her life for Scully and yes that is her job after all but Reyes seems to take that above and beyond and it's not just Scully herself but also William. Look at how protective Reyes is of William in The Truth and of the sacrifice Scully made in giving him up. She seems to care even more than Mulder on that.
Tumblr media
Cigarette-Smoking-Man: Asexual
CSM has probably had sex at some point, he is of course the father of at least three children but I do not think that he was ever in love with any of these women or even attracted to them. I believe they were all just a means to an end.
I believe that CSM's only love was for his cigarettes
Evidence:
There is a little bit of evidence that he might have actually felt something for Teena Mulder but I don't buy it. He freely admits that he felt nothing for Cassandra Spender but he must've been convincing if he got her to marry him and we have seen him fake emotions more than once. He also seemed to show an attraction to Scully in En Ami but that too was just a means to an end. Perhaps he does feel something towards all the women he has impregnated but I wouldn't call it love. I don't see any real attraction there either. My bet is that CSM needed some "help" in order to produce his offspring.
Tumblr media
Alex Krycek: Gay
While Krycek did have an obviously sexual relationship with Marita Covarrubias he definitely didn't have any real feelings for her and I don't buy attraction either. No I'd say they were both just trying to use sex to get what they wanted. His anger at finding the Russian boy gone wasn't because he was heartbroken at her betrayal. Merely mad that she'd managed to get the upper hand.
Whether Krycek is open or in the closet I'm not sure, I'm thinking it probably depends on the mission hes on at the time.
Evidence:
Of everyone on this list I'd say Krycek is the one I'm the most sure of. There is no doubt in my mind that Krycek was attracted to, perhaps even in love with, Fox Mulder. From the very beginning there appeared to be a bit of longing in his eyes.
There was the speedo scene wherein Krycek was definitely checking Mulder out. There were several scenes where Krycek could've killed Mulder but chose to help him instead.
As I've seen pointed out before, Krycek's crazy motivational choices don't make any sense at all unless it's all in an effort to be around Mulder more.
Look at his sense of style and his obvious love for lip gloss. I am not saying that straight men cannot love lip gloss and dress themselves in Krycek's fashion but it is uncommon and it was especially so back in the 90s
The infamous kiss in The Red and the Black could certainly be explained away as some kind of Russian custom but it isn't one that I am aware of and he hasn't really shown any other signs of his Russia heritage.
I would say my best evidence of Krycek's sexuality is in Essence and Existence, just look at the look on Krycek's face when Mulder trusts him to protect Scully. Krycek knows what Scully means to Mulder and then look at how seriously Krycek takes the job! I definitely feel like that moment meant a lot to him and he would have protected Scully with his life for Mulder.
There's also the fact that Krycek's unwillingness to kill Mulder lead to his own death.
Of course asking Skinner to shoot Mulder goes against this theory but I do have a couple thoughts on that, the most sensical being that he knew there was no chance Skinner would shoot Mulder and he probably knew there was no chance he would survive anymore. Maybe he made that request in hopes of sparing Mulder any pain he might have otherwise felt at his death (I know it's a bit of a stretch but my other theories require a long explanation of my thoughts on where the series had planned to go next)
Tumblr media
The lone gunmen: no one knows....not even them
Three (I don't count Jimmy for this) single adult men who all live together in very cramped quarters and are, at least in Langley's case, perfectly happy to be around each other without thier clothes on certainly makes it seem like there's something between them all but I really don't get a overtly gay impression with any of them, even Langley who as mentioned doesn't like to wear pants and is the only one who hasn't had a love interest. They just have this sort of Vegas-esque thing. "What happens in the bachelor pad/newspaper room stays in the bachelor pad/newspaper room.
I would love to hear other people's thoughts on these and any other X-files characters you think might be somewhere on the LGBTQ spectrum.

Back in December 2016, during a sleepover, my friends and I decided to watch EXO's Chanyeol's most recent movie, "So I Married an Anti-Fan". It effortlessly became one of my favourite movies, so much so that I rewatch it —at least— once a year.
Therefore, when it was first announced that South Korea was going to produce a drama based on the same story, I was thrilled. The feeling only increased when I found out that the male lead was Choi Tae-Joon, whom I loved because of Suspicious Partner. Later (to be more precise, this year), I discovered that the other lead was the one and only Sooyoung from SNSD!
The drama was filmed back in 2018, and it was supposed to air a loooot sooner, but it had a few problems and it finally came out this year. Since I don't like waiting for episodes to come out each week, I waited until it finished airing to watch it... And, today, I finished it!
So, here's my review, fresh out the oven!
· · ·
So I Married an Anti-Fan is a 2021 South Korean drama, featuring Choi Tae-Joon, Choi Sooyoung, Hwang Chansung and Han Ji-Ahn. It's based on the novel "그래서 나는 안티팬과 결혼했다" (So I Married an Anti-Fan), written by Kim Eun Jun and published in 2010.
youtube
· · ·
♡ PLOT:
The story revolves around Hoo Joon (Tae-Joon), a well-known idol, and Geun Young (Sooyoung), a magazine reporter. They meet during an event, where a series of misunderstandings leads them to have a bad impression of each other.
For this reason, when Geun Young loses her job, she's under the impression that it was Hoo Joon's doing and is therefore keen on "reveal" Joon's real character. However, her retaliation backfires, and she attracts a lot of attention as his "anti-fan".
Later, a TV producer approaches them both to star in a reality show. Geun Young and Hoo Joon accept and think to give each other a hard time on set. But, as time goes by, they get to know each other better and better.
· · ·
♡ EPISODES:
It's made up of 16 episodes, running for an hour each (i.e., your typical k-drama).
· · ·
♡ CHARACTERS:
-Geun Young (FL): She's the best character, hands down (I swear I'm not being biased because I love Sooyoung).
For some reason, I've seen a lot of bad comments about this character. I don't truly understand why some people said that she didn't stand up for herself or that she was so-so, when she dealt really well with everything that had happened to her. I'd like to see all those people in her shoes—I bet they'd have cracked up quickly.
Also, she's like the least toxic character I've ever come across in a drama. She waits patiently for Joon to deal with his problems and doesn't jump to conclusions regarding his relationship with In Hyeong and Jae Joon. She lets him do his thing, is an independent woman, and tries to be as little of a burden as she can to the people she cares about. So, props to her!
▫ ▫ ▫
-Hoo Joon (ML): Although I overall liked his character, I admit that if I hadn't previously watched the movie, I'd probably be wary of him at the beginning. But, don't worry: as the story progresses, you get to know him better. He's patient and thinks of other people's feelings and well-being a lot (sometimes, a little too much for his own good, but he's a good boy).
I felt the need to include that there was this one scene where he acts... In a way that I didn't find appealing. Fortunately, he isn't like that all throughout the drama. Also, he isn't toxic like a lot of the male leads in drama-land. If you're wondering which scene I'm referring to, here's a spoiler: *SPOILER ALERT* When he and Geun Young start dating, they are requested to film an advertisement together. In the filming, he acts all "jealous" because the dress she was wearing was too short for his liking. I'm sorry, but she's the only one who has a say on how short a dress she's wearing is—not you, not even if you're her partner *END OF SPOILER ALERT*.
▫ ▫ ▫
-JJ/Jae Joon (SML): Jae Joon is the second male lead, and he was portrayed by 2PM's Chansung.
I'm sorry, but I never could come to terms with this character, not even during the last episodes. If the writers' intention was for me to hate him, they (and Chansung's acting) totally achieved that purpose.
He is incredibly selfish and keeps this attitude up to episode 13/14. Towards the ending, the story tries that the audience feels some sympathy towards him—it is shown why he acted the way he did. Nevertheless, in my opinion, while his past may explain his actions, it doesn't justify any of them. That's why I couldn't bring myself to feel sympathetic or empathetic towards him. *SPOILER ALERT* In fact, I think Hoo Joon was too nice to be there for him in the last two or three episodes. *END OF SPOILER ALERT*
He's also outright abusive. *SPOILER ALERT* I mean, he slapped In Hyeong and broke her laptop ¿?... Even though I didn't like her that much, nothing justifies that kind of violent behaviour. *END OF SPOILER ALERT*
▫ ▫ ▫
-In Hyeong (SFL): She's the second female lead, portrayed by actress Han Ji-Ahn.
Oh, man. I had a hard time trying to wrap my head around this character. I was just going to say that I couldn't stand her because she was always purposely putting a spanner in the works, making everyone's life difficult.
However, as I was drafting this review, I began reflecting on the character and felt sympathy for her. She was in a vulnerable place—leaving aside that she felt abandoned by her first love, she had trouble trying to make her career take off, and she was in a really abusive relationship. It could be argued that JJ and In Hyeon were both toxic to each other, but it was clear that he was the one with the upper hand (he was the CEO of her new agency, which brings a real disbalance of power).
Moreover, it was hinted several times that all she went through took a toll on her mental health (*SPOILER ALERT* she was always taking pills to calm down, and she freaking tried to kill herself!!!!!!! *END OF SPOILER ALERT*). I believe she needed professional help to put herself back together, so she could let go of her past and finally leave that abusive relationship.
· · ·
♡ COUPLES:
Since this drama mostly gravitates towards romantic relationships, I'm including this section.
▫ ▫ ▫
-Geun Young x Hoo Joon: They are your typical enemies to lovers.
In the beginning, their relationship was tainted by a lot of misunderstandings, which led them to hate each other's guts (but, where's the charm in a k-drama that isn't filled with misunderstandings, am I right?). Once they started to spend more time together, they began understanding each other better. In time, they were able to leave their pride aside and got rid of their prejudices (yes, the story gives Jane Austen-ish vibes, so much so that "Pride and Prejudice" is mentioned a few times).
Their chemistry was alright. I would have changed some parts of the script that made a lot of scenes to be super cringey—especially, before some of their kisses (like, what a way to ruin such an awaited moment!).
The thing I liked the most about them was that neither of them was toxic, and they knew how and when to give the other person space. They were sweet, but not unbearable sweet—just the exact amount.
▫ ▫ ▫
-In Hyeong x Jae Joon: I don't know if they can be considered a true couple, but I'm adding them here just to repeat that I HATED THEM TOGETHER.
· · ·
♡ SOME PERSONAL INTERPRETATIONS AND THOUGHTS:
For me, the story tries to show the two sides of the same coin: things that may seem completely different, but are essentially the same. You can see it with Hoo Joon/Geun Young, their friends, and even with Hoo Joon/Jae Joon. Of course, this could be argued—it is just my personal impression.
Also, while the drama condemns some of the toxic fan behaviour, it sometimes romanticises it. *SPOILER ALERT* one fan freaking kidnapped him, and everything was suddenly alright ¿¿ Nuh-uh *END OF SPOILER ALERT*
· · ·
♡ DRAMA VS. MOVIE:
As I mentioned above, there's a prior Chinese movie from 2016 that was based on this novel. It features EXO's Chanyeol, Yuan Shan Shan, SNSD's Seohyun, and Jian Chao.
For obvious reasons, the story is shrunk down in the movie. There are a lot of things that weren't included in the movie, other things were overly simplified, and some stuff was missing and/or changed.
If you want to have a good laugh, then I recommend you to watch the movie. It's filled with non-sensical comedy that, in my opinion, China excels at. However, if you are more inclined towards drama, then the South Korean version is the one for you (you'll laugh, too, don't worry).
· · ·
♡ SUMMARY:
This is, basically, a sweet enemies-to-lovers, famous-person-and-normal-person story. If you like any of those troupes, then you're in for a treat.
It's a really lighthearted story that will make you laugh. Don't expect a complicated plot because there won't be one. It's ideal to have a break from all those dramas where you can't miss a single detail because you'll get lost, or from those dramas which plots are so heavy they end up tiring your mind out.
I loved the cast, and their acting was great (especially Chansung's, because he made me hate his character with a passion, lmao).
ALSO, if you like Sung Hoon (My Secret Romance, Oh My Venus) like me, then WATCH THIS DRAMA, lol. He has a guest role in some episodes!
· · ·
So I Married an Anti-Fan is available on VIKI!
· · ·
If you read the whole review, thank you very much! I hope you liked it.

Little Book Review: Stay Sexy and Don't Get Murdered
Author: Georgia Hardstark and Karen Kilgariff.
Publication Date: 2019.
Genre: Humor/memoir/advice.
Premise: Georgia Hardstark and Karen Kilgariff, hosts of the popular true crime podcast My Favorite Murder, share anecdotes about their lives and give advice to twenty-three-year-olds. They don't say it's for twenty-three-year-olds, specifically, but I think that's the age at which the advice would be the most useful.
Thoughts: I "read" Stay Sexy and Don't Get Murdered as an audiobook that I borrowed on Libby. This is probably the ideal way to experience it; I say this both because Hardstark and Kilgariff narrate the book, lending it some of the breezy entertainment value of their podcast, and because it was free. It was amusing enough to me, but I'm clearly not the target audience. For one thing, my interest in My Favorite Murder is very casual; I listened to maybe a dozen episodes in 2020 before moving on to podcasts on subjects more in my wheelhouse. However much I enjoyed the hosts' banter, I'll admit that I never felt a burning curiosity about their childhoods or how they came to start a podcast. I was happy to read about those things, but this is definitely a book for fans; there's not much of an organizing principle beyond "if you like this thing, you might want to hear about this."
For another thing, I'm too old. There's a lot of common-sensical advice that seems geared towards young women just starting out in life: don't waste time on dirtbags, don't leave your financial affairs to your family or significant others, etc. I'm not saying I follow all this advice, but at thirty-one I feel like I've read it all. It's also just not that entertaining of a subject; instead, it's like sitting through the lesson-y parts of Mean Girls.
There are also some mea culpas for some controversies that I'm not familiar with (i.e., remarks that came across as victim-blaming, using insensitive terms for sex workers, etc.). The thing I've seen My Favorite Murder criticized most for is expressing favorable opinions about the death penalty and other harsh criminal policies. I imagine that's easy to do if the crimes you're most familiar with are horrible serial murders where there's not a question of mistaken identity. That's my hot take about whether it's okay to be interested in true crime: of course it's okay, just have some perspective about it.
Hot Goodreads Take: "This is their autobiographies of how to succeed in today’s world while saying F@#*every other word and defying authority and education at every turn. If this is what the younger generation represents, I’m not a fan!" states one reviewer. Girl...they're both Gen X. Karen Kilgariff is like four years younger than my mom.

Patreon Membership Drive: Turbo Championship Hyper Fighting Edition!
Tumblr media
Hello all you happy people! For those wondering “who the hell is this.” I”m Jake Mattingly. I review animation and comics here on this tumblr 5 times a week, and love doing so. I do so by recapping an episode of an animated show or a volume of a comic piece by piece, how detailed depends on the work and how condensed it needs to be, analyzing the episode and sometimes throwing in some jokes because i’m a silly weirdo and tis my nature.
So far i’ve been able to scrape by with the help of my patreon’s kev and emma, with Kev suplimenting that iwth various comissions (I.e. paying me to review a specific episode of a show much like someone would comissoin). But I don’t want to place my entire finacial future in the hands of two people so last month I lauched my patreon membership, trying to get people to join my patreon to releive some of the pressure on them. And not a person signed on during the first month.
But I realize a large part of that is I simply didn’t advertise propertly, not really explaning what it is I do, what they get, or throwing in any extra incentives for signing up apart from “If so many people pledge to my patreon i’ll do X review” Which is still the main thrust of my campaign but I realized I need MORE than that to give you all proper money for your buck, especailly with Tumblr trying to monteize in the most half assed way possible making people presumibly more wary of spending money on me.
So for this promo i’m going into what it is I review exactly, how to sign up for my patreon and how any of that works, what you get out of it, and various juicy stretch goals i’m hoping ya’ll can help me reach so
WHAT IS IT YOU DO EXACTLY?
As I mentioned above I review animation and comics, more animation than comics. My meat and potatoes are Disney Duck works, primarily the 2017 reboot and the Don Rosa and Carl Barks comics. For the former i’ve done retrospectives on Lena’s arc, the Della storyline from season 2 and ALL the Season 2 storylines, the last one currently in progress. I intend to review the entire series, the lackluster tie in comics, and the this duckburg life podcast, though the last one has some strings attached we’ll get to under my goals.  I”ve also been reviewing various Carl Barks first apperances and most importantly doing a complete retrospective on Don Rosa’s masterwork the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck.
I also review certain shows week to week, almost entirely Disney as aside from the True Colors Debacle they have the most reliable schedule and announce release dates farther in advance than Cartoon Network and Nick which just sorta pop up announce things. I covered all of season 3 of Ducktales and season 2 of amphibia (With season 3 coverage coming in october) and i’m currently reviewing Owl House every week till that hiatus hits.
Finally i’m currently looking at all the Tom Luictor episodes of star vs the forces of evil tracking both Tom’s character arc and the show’s steady decline straight into the dumps.
Comics wise i’m more sporadic but in addition to duck comics stuff, I’ve also been doing a retrospective on the Scott Pilgrim franchise: all 6 volumes of the comic, those reviews avaliable now and in two weeks from this post, just in time for  the video game and movie anniversaries to finish things up. I recently started another one for the comic book Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye, I intend to finish one I did for New X-Men, and I have a few in my mind’s eye I want to do soon on John Ostrandre’s Suicide Squad run, Justice League International, and Mega Man that i’m going to do pilots for to see if anyone’s interested.
Finally recently i’ve started doing quick thoughts, quick reviews on recent stuff from trailers to full on movies I don’t have to cover normally.
So What Is Your Patreon?
Patreon is a site where creators can get paid for work and can put up exclusive content and what not. You pledge anywhere from a dollar a month, and become one of my patrons and help me do this blog for a living. I genuinely love writing about media, analyzing it and making weird jokes, and this lets me do that as my job and my passion. I simply don’t want to put finacing that on the backs of only two people.
So What’s In It For Me?
Unlike Tumblr itself I feel my supporters deserve to get the most bang for their buck. As such Patreon Membership starts at JUST ONE DOLLAR. That’s right for a dollar a month, 12 bucks a year so the price of a movie, you get access to my occasoinal exclusive reviews, exclusive poles once I get more than two members so that’s actually sensical to do to vote on reviews, and to pick a theatrical short when i review a bunch of them for character birthdays or holidays or just cause.
In addition to these though i’ve decided to sweeten the pot. ON SIGN UP ANY PATREON OF ANY TIER GETS ONE FREE REVIEW OF ANY SINGLE EPISODE OF TELEVISION OR ISSUE OF A COMIC BOOK. That’s right for just one buck, you get a review of your choice. Whatever you want. You want to force me to watch something you hate so someone else can bitch about it for you? Go on about an episode yo ulove? shine a light on something obscure? Well i’m your man and for ONE BUCK A MONTH, you can get that. Whatever you want put on my schedule as soon as I have room and your payment’s gone through.
And if you want me to review stuff on a more regular basis, five bucks a month gets you a review a month, same permaiters as above along with said free review. I will PERSONALLY make sure there’s a space on the schedule every month for your patreon review and review whatever you want no matter how good, bad or stuppid.
But that’s not ALL.
STRETCH GOALS:
To explain these better than what I did next time: My stretch goals are goals on my patreon: if I hit a certain number of Patreons I will review (Insert Thing Here) And these are meaty projects too: full season reviews, retrospectives and what have you and something’s unlocked with each person who signs up, adjusted from orignally basing it on price. So your dollar a month not only gets you your own review, but also will get my solemn vow to review a bunch of other thigns, and the more people who sign up the more thigns I’ll add to my plate. Not only that but just for this pledge drive i’m adding a bunch of super neat drive exclusvie stretch goals that will VANISH AT THE END OF AUGUST. dosen’t mean I won’t EVER do these reviews, but it does mean i’ll probably sit on them a bit.
TLDR: You singing up gets me to guarantee to review some extra stuff.
SO WHAT ARE THE GOALS.
I”m glad you asked. Each one is based on a person joining, so
REGULAR PATREON GOALS THAT AREN’T GOING TO EXPIRE BUT ARE STILL PRETTY NEAT:
One goal for each new patreon so
1 New Patreon: Starting off light but still juicy, I will review the complete season one of Amphibia across two posts. I’ve already rewatched the season recently, so all someone has to do is sign up and i’ll get on it in septmeber in time for season 3! And that’s not the only show as i’ll also review BOTH seasons of the birdtastic show after my own heart Tuca and Bertie!
2 New Patrons: This one’s a big lighter but you still get some neat things: for my scottaholics in the audience I will review the rest of Brian Lee O’Malley’s works so far: Lost at Sea (his first graphic novel) Seconds (his first post scott work) and Snotgirl (his first ongoing and first work he didn’t draw himself), which follow a girl trying to reclaim her soul/cat, an immature restrauntieur who discovers reality changing muschrooms, and an influencer who might of done a murder. For those who don’t really like Scott Pilgrim i’ll review a buch of paramount plus shows first seasons: Kamp Korral, the rugrats rugboot and iCarly. So if any of that sounds good get on the bus won’t you?
3 New Patrons: My juicest one and one that stands alone: I will review the complete first season of the Owl House across two posts. Every episode, every bit of lumity progressoin, every bit of foreshadowing in hindsight, all for you, all if three people join my patron. So if you want more bisexual magic, step up.
4 New Patrons: Duck Goals Woo-Ooo! This one unlocks a review from Duck Master Carl Barks EVERY MONTH. Not only that I will be taking suggestoins from my patrons , meaning you can help decide which ones I do! And while tha’ts plenty i’m jucing this one up as getting me this far also nets a review of This Duckburg Like, the interquel podcast that’s given us our last ducktales content for what will likely be an eternity.
5 New Patrons: Gravity Falls Retrospective! I”m not only talking both season of Alex Hirsch’s era defining masterpice, but also the side materials I have acess to: the shorts, Journal #3, and the lost legends tie in comic. I”d throw legend of the gnome gemulets in there two if I had a working 2ds or 3ds bu tas it stands this is what I got.
6 New Patrons: Avatarverse Retrospective. No not James Cameron the Bravest Pioneer’s movie he wants to turn into a franchise despite NO ONE wanting this please stop James, we’re begging you. Of course i’m talking about Avatar the Last Airbender, the epic franchise that’s blowing up in size. This will include all three books of Avatar: The Last Airbender, All Four Books of the Legend of Korra, and all the juicy side stuff I can cover: the sequel comics for both series, the kioshi novels and the eye gougingly bad M Night Shamlyn Movie. Yes I really will   myself to that. I have not till now i’m happy that way but I will sufer for you. Speaking of suffering:
7 New Patrons: It’s a crapstravaganza!  If i’ve made it this far I clearly have enough fan support that I can fly into the eye of the crapstorm so i’m going to review some of the worst things I can think of:  * Chuck Austen’s X-Men the run that dared to ask the tough questions your coke addleed uncle you don’t let see your kids would like “What if Angel could cure AIDS with his blood and had sex with a minor while her parents watched?” “What if a rouge relgious sect tried to make Nightcrawler pope and then desingrate people with commuiion wafers in a scheme that makes no sense?” and “What if an x-man made a plant horny?”  * America: The comic that has the infamous and oft used by me line to compare it to other bad lines “What in the holy menstration are you doing here”. And it’s still not the most bonkers thing int his somehow 12 ISSUE SERIES tha twastes one of marvels best creations.  * The Prince: Aka that series HBO what farted out onto the service with no intention of renewal after realizing “Holy shit we greenlit this what is wrong with us” which is basically family guy but with the royal family. I’d say it was a somehow worse family guy but Famiily Guy once had an episode that was about 22 minutes of transphobic punchlines so as long as there isn’t an episode of that your good.  * Mordecai is a Bastard Man: Aka that arc of Regular Show that took a ship I really liked, Mordecai and CJ, and then destoryed it with cheating, attempted murder and saxophone.  *Star Vs Final Arc: Aka a look at how a once great show descended into a mess with unfinished plot lines, wasted characters and a finale so terrible it’s only topped by “Kids this is the story of how I really want you to say it’s okay to bang aunt robin” 8 New Patrons: Infinity Train, all four books and any finale movie if it happens. (Please let it happen) All aboard! 9 New Patrons: Two juicy disney retrospectives! The Incredibles (both movies and both comics series) and Darkwing Duck (Both the Boom! and Joe Books runs) Let’s get incredibly dangerous! 10 New Patrons: My highest tier for now and i’ts anothe rdouble feature and two big projects. If you get me this far, you’ve earned em: A She Ra and the Pricesses of Power Retrospective and a Bojack Horseman retrospective. The two greatest things Netflix has made back to back for life.
And THAT’S NOT ALL... as I said I have some special stretch goals JUST FOR THIS PLEDGE DRIVE.
SPECIAL DRIVE SPECIFIC GOALS BABY!:
These are a simple five extra projects for hitting the goals within the rest of the drive FROM AUGUST 1ST TO AUGUST 31ST. I will not add these to the regular goals for a full year if you do not reach them, so one buck helps you unlock projects that otherwise might not happen for YEARS. Like the other goals their measured by patrons but ONLY for this month sooooo
1 New Patron: Quack Pack series review! the most hated Disney Afternoon show in one big two part review. God help me. 2 New Patrons: Rise of the TMNT Retrospective: Both seasons, a movie and regular coverage on the offchance a third season hopefully gets greenlit.  3 New Patrons: Peanuts and Garfield Specials retrospective!: Retrospectives for the technicolor years long world of Peanuts specials and the shorte rlived but still neat garfield specails. All the specials plus all the animated movies for both!  4 New Patrons: Craig of the Creek-AThon: Rewatching season one and watching BOTH seasons i’ve missed since then with full reviews as well as reviews of each bomb of episodes as their released on teh app from here on out!  5 New Patrons: Steven Universe Retrospective! All 5 seasons, The Movie, Future, the comics, graphic novels and games. EVERY. THING.
So if ANY of this sounds enticing
STOP BY MY PATREON RIGHT HERE IN THIS LINK, SIGN UP TODAY, HELP ME GET PAID DOING WHAT I LOVE AND GET REVIEWS FOR EVERYBODY. YOU WON’T REGRET IT AND YOU’LL BE MAKING MY LIFE BETTER.
And even if you can’t support it feedback on the goals, reblogs to get the word out and general words of encouragment are appricated so join me as I try to get at least one extra dollar a month in the span of this month. PITTER PATTER, let’s get at er!

Dabb turned the story from intense codependency to a family sitcom about three dads and their son. Its the reason why so many codependency lovers hate Dabb era and the reason why the finale makes zero sense. We were being promised a hopeful ending if not a happy one
I don’t know that I necessarily agree with the first half of your comment. I mean Dabb’s episodes tend to be comedic but that usually just makes the emotional punches hit harder. Think of 8x08 Hunter Heroici. That’s one of the funniest episodes of the series but then all of a sudden we’re hit with Dean recognising that Cas is struggling and their conversation where Cas admits he’s worried he might kill himself.
12x23 had some very funny moments but it was a bloodbath that ended with Dean on his knees beside Cas’ body. 13x01 was just exquisitely painful from beginning to end (in fact all of the first 5 episodes of s13 were.) And let’s not forget that while 14x20 had the truth spell with all it’s Stapler Queens and Sam loving Celine Dion revelations, it also had God manipulating Dean into killing Jack and Cas desperately trying to save him, only for him to have to watch him die right before his eyes anyway.
Those are just a few examples but honestly, a lot of the funniest episodes of the Dabb era (Scoobynatural excepted I guess) are also profoundly painful. I’ve got to say, it’s an approach I’ve always liked because they were usually woven together pretty well and it made both the funny and the emotional moments hit harder for me.
As for your second part, yeah I think I agree with you. There’s no doubt that the narrative shifted from an excessive focus on the codependency to more of a focus on family and how it wasn’t just the two of them anymore and how they could want and deserve more than that. I was thinking lately about why the finale seems so empty to me, even if you disregard the plot, and I think the obvious reason is that Dean, our emotional POV character, wasn’t shown to feel anything for anyone but his brother. And all he was allowed to want was his car.
If that’s the story you want to tell, tell it. It seems kind of unnecessary to put such a focus on family for so long (right up until 1 or 2 episodes before) only to then say, ok so ignore all that, none of that matters anymore. This is not to say that I think the finale shouldn’t have focused mainly on Sam and Dean, of course it should have, and of course the big emotional climax in that episode was always going to be between the two of them. However, you don’t need to negate everything that came in the story before that in order for that to be the case.
Also can I use this ask to clarify something else? When I talk about Dean’s previous reactions to Cas dying and him having nothing to say about losing him in the finale, I am in no way saying that we should have seen Dean spiral into a nihilistic depression. After everything that Cas said to him, it makes sense that Dean would want to keep going and try to be the person Cas saw him as still makes no earthly sense that he was yelling at God (who hated Cas) to bring him back but didn’t even try to nicely ask Jack the same thing.
But you know Dean could have just said that? That he wanted to be the person Cas sacrificed himself for. That shouldn’t have been buried subtext that we need to look at 15x18 and 15x19 to understand, because on the surface in 15x20 it seems like Cas doesn’t factor into Dean’s state of mind at all, and regardless of how you see their relationship, that’s just not true.
So yeah the TLDR of all that is that I do think the setup has been for a hopeful ending but honestly, I wouldn’t have minded either way as long as it was a sensical ending. That’s always where my bar was, and apparently that was still too high.

2x6 - Trial and Error
Original air date: Oct 15, 1997
Okay, so we begin this infuriating episode with Floyd coming home and calling out for his biological children. None of them are home. Except for Mo. Mo broke into the house. No, seriously. He broke into the house and started eating somebody’s leftovers. Now in any other case, this would warrant a passionate ass whooping and a call to the parents of this child because what the fuck are you doing so wrong to have your son breaking into houses and not stealing anything except for food? However, this is sitcom world and Floyd just seems more annoyed than anything since Mo is always there anyway.
Tumblr media
Mo tells Floyd he needs to be more careful about locking the windows. So linebacker ass Mo really needed to eat and somehow oozed through a window just to get food? Ok, I take back what I said about him needing his ass kicked. Mo is clearly malnourished even though he’s huge. His parents must be poor and therefore can’t afford to feed him. Holy shit was that dark. Moving on.
Food and TJ’s brain are the reasons for his crime. His parents are going to kill him if he brings home another D. This is really helping me build a theory that Mo’s parents are abusive, so let’s assume his parents are literal this time about the kill thing. Floyd then realizes that Mo’s punishment would equal him not being over again to eat up their food and casually break in so he tells Mo that TJ joined the Marines. Nice, Floyd.
Just then, the rest of Floyd’s flock comes in babbling about who got what part in a play. TJ is naturally upset because he wanted a bigger role, still not getting used to the idea that he’s a 10 year old and unless he’s playing the role of a character with dwarfism, it wouldn’t make sense for him to have a huge part. TJ storms off in a huff. Typical TJ things.
The next day, everyone is atwitter over a test from their more over it than Lisa Simpson teacher. This man wants all of his students to fail. He hates his students. He’s a teacher and yet he hates teaching. Maybe this is the wrong profession for you, bruh? And it’s evident his ‘over it’ level is on a million from the way he comes in and tells his class to “get ready to hate me.” The deadpan, dry delivery was funny though.
Tumblr media
His first task is to give his students an assignment so hard that even he doesn’t know all the answers. Um, why? If you don’t know the answers, how are you gonna grade the tests? Isn’t this just creating more work for you, someone who already hates his job? Why the fuck does Piedmont hire such bad teachers and faculty, dammit?
Even TJ is intimidated by this test! Mo asks Mr. Bringleman why stuff from another chapter he previously said wouldn’t be on the test is on the test. He simply says he lied. This man is evil. I hated teachers who did that bitch ass shit. Yes, I only studied for what you said was going to be on the test because I have other classes too, ya know. I’m a teenager, not a machine!
I’m just gonna call him Mr. B for the rest of this review because fuck this most likely racist white man. His ass was listening to the boys talking about how hard the test was and then Mo says he wishes he could do to Mr. B what he does to all of them. Mr. B asks if he’s threatening him and Mo stammers. Then Mr. B insults his intelligence by asking if he ever has a complete thought. Before he can even fix his mouth to call him the N word, not Linda Ellerbee shows up to see what’s going on. Oh yeah, and she’s the new principal. She’s the third one so far and this is only the first half of the second season.
Tumblr media
Anyways, she needs someone to cover a class and outright forces him to do it. Ha-ha. When the boys laugh at him, Mr. B says he’s going to grade Mo’s test. Nice, I just love seeing teachers bully students.
At the play rehearsal, TJ is still campaigning for a lead role. Mackey has to be the one to humble him, asking for duct tape. Marcus’s play related arc in this episode is pursuing acting seriously in case music doesn’t work out. His part has no lines so he’s trying to act with his face. He can just feel the SAG membership card in his hands.
Just then, Yvette bursts in wearing a Prince-inspired outfit and lets everyone know there was a fire in the chem lab. Dun du--pause. Why the fuck is she telling everyone? Wouldn’t they have had a fire drill? Are there no fire alarms in this blasted school? How the fuck did nobody know about it or smell smoke and why is Yvette bursting in like the town crier in this Purple Rain ass outfit???
Tumblr media
All the students are happy until Linda Ellerbee hands Mo his charred playbook and asks him to come into her office. Dun dun dun. Later we find out that Mo was expelled. Because he is an abused child who only feels safe at the Hendersons, Mo has once again broke into their house and begun working out in their garage. Floyd is over it.
TJ comes home and talks to Mo. He is sad to learn that nobody thinks he’s innocent but says that TJ has to believe him because he has the “wide-eyed innocence of a child.” He follows this up with shitty examples of kids trusting adults who end up being assholes. Once they finally get on a good example, TJ is able to see that Mo is innocent and decides to help Mo get back into school.
The next day, TJ is in the principal’s office waiting for Linda Ellerbee. She has mice in her office because Piedmont is the worst public school ever and is resorting to playing the Spice Girls to get them out. Is that supposed to be a diss to the Spice Girls? Fuck anyone who disses the Spice Girls.
Sis is not budging when it comes to letting Mo back in the school. Sounds like a job for TJ’s cuteness and persistence! He gets her to agree to a mock trial where Mo would have to come back to the school. I...whatever. Order in the courtroom!
Tumblr media
TJ is Mo’s defense. The opposinjg side calls Marcus to the stand so we already know this will end in disaster. It takes less than a minute for Marcus to admit that Mo threatened Mr. B. Ugh! Stupid Marcus. But he doesn’t even do the worst on the stand. Mo actually manages to fuck it all up! Marcus and TJ are trying to paint Mo out to be, what the kids today would call it, a “punk ass bitch.” Rather than play along and accept it, dumb ass Mo puts his stupid, fragile masculinity ahead of his chance to get back into school and says that he follows through on all threats. Once he realizes his gaffe, he immediately sits his ass down. Yvette is annoyed.
Tumblr media
Vice principal Millitch, who will later replace Linda Ellerbee in one of the only sensical things I’ve seen regarding Piedmont, qualifies that Mo’s playbook was found at the scene next to Mr. B’s burnt gradebook. It was nice knowing ya, Mo. We know how the legal system works.
So then the loser teacher gets on the stand and tries to make it seem like he doesn’t intentionally make his students suffer by giving them ridiculously hard tests and lying about what’s even going to be on the test. To him, Mo is just a stupid, violent nigger so of course he’d want to commit a crime instead of studying harder. And then he lays it on thicker by insulting his intelligence again, explaining what the word combust means in the most smug ass, irritating way. It’s fucked up upon re-watch but at least it’s super realistic how predominately black public schools get racist white teachers often. They’re usually there for the tuition reimbursement.
Tumblr media
TJ is now realizing that he may not be able to help Mo out of this jam. While eating dinner, Yvette comes in and apologizes for her lateness, saying the trial is over and now the school can continue with the play rehearsals. She tells an adamant TJ that Mr. B, also assuming the trial’s conclusion, was chain smoking cigarettes and humming “Don’t Worry Be Happy.” Floyd is appalled at the latter. TJ’s gears begin shifting. Side note but doesn’t Mr. B just look like a miserable ass teacher who smokes in the classroom?
TJ and Mo break into the school. Geez, so much trespassing in this episode! Mo isn’t even worried about being caught because what are they gonna do, “expel him from college?” Slapstick ensues while TJ collects samples from the gradebook. Mo, on the other hand, is battling a mouse trap. I was super high when I watched this last night but this scene had me in stitches. Omar Gooding is really good with physical comedy. Look, even TJ gets stuck to him when they’re leaving! Priceless!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At court the next morning, TJ calls Mr. B to the stand. He brilliantly examines him and exposes him for smoking in the classroom, which was the actual cause for the fire. This man is fucking evil! He was actually about to get away with very possibly ruining a teenager’s life until a fucking 10 year old stepped in and dug deeper. He could have seriously gotten him disowned by his parents, making him homeless, forcing him to turn to the streets for survival. All because he’s an asshole and didn’t have the heart to own up to what he did. Hell, it’s fucking Piedmont! I’m sure they would have kept him!
Tumblr media
Seeing as he just gets sent to Linda’s office, he’s most likely getting a slap on the wrist and paid vacation leave. Oh well. Also frustratingly realistic. At least Mo isn’t expelled anymore. Too bad Mo’s unwashed hands are still sticky when he shakes the principal’s hand and the joke continues.
Tumblr media
At the end, Marcus gets bumped up to the illustrious Juror #2. Gotta love a true thespian! Case dismissed. Bring out the dancing lobsters.
Things I noticed:
- Stinky Steve is Mr. B’s defense.
Tumblr media
- Piedmont has no respect for their students’ time. The mock trial began at 8am. Assuming that their school day begins at 9am, I bet the play participants probably hate TJ for forcing them to get up an hour earlier than normal, on top of having to do the play after school.

I watched Enchanted Grom Fright and I have some things to say.
Firstly, I LOVED THAT DANCE SEQUENCE. I AM ABSOLUTE TRASH FOR THE GENRE AND IT WAS SO WELL ANIMATED I ALMOST DIED.
And here is the most legendary contribution and outfit for Grom.
Tumblr media
Next, I’m sure we’re all wondering about who wrote the letters (clearly not Luz.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
But, then I noticed how the writer clearly doesn’t know how to spell her name and had to cross it out and rewrite it. Meanwhile, Amity’s letter knew how to spell her name first try, so if Amity did write it then she wrote it beforehand and sent it to her mother. Which is a bit far fetched, since Amity has a) never been to the human world and b) doesn’t know where Luz lives. Also, the writer doesn’t fill in their full stops/ top of the i’s while Amity does, and the o’s are written similarly, but differently. Since Amity is also her age, and how the letter seems a bit weirdly formal for a fourteen year old (especially talking about mortgages out of all things that Luz could have talked about at the camp,) how they address them as mother/daughter instead of the mamá and mija or the more loving like cariño we’ve seen them address eachother as, I don’t think it’s her. Despite Amity being the first student to protect her, I don't think it completely lines up.
If we want of a bit less sensical theory but more depressing, I have one.
Tumblr media
Then, I realized, at the start of the episode, Luz and King were waiting for Eda to come back from the human realm for a seemingly long time. Luz was practicing plant magic, and the place was filled to the brim with different plants and flowers. There were piles of crumpled up paper used for magic that didn’t work, so she must have been a while. Luz’s first line is “Come on, work this time!” Meaning she must have been frustrated over how long she’s spent on this, or how much time and effort she’s wasted.
Tumblr media
If we are sticking with my previous theory, it has something to do with this creepy Luz that link to one Luz going in, and another Luz going out, like Hemera and Nyx with the bronze threshold to create sunrises and sunsets. I'm not sure if it's an alter ego, an imposter demon/creature/witch, or if it's someone related to her in some way. However, if my theory is correct, then Luz has a big storm coming.
At first, I was thinking of Amity wanting Luz to stay as a way to escape from a rather toxic parental relationship by how similar the handwriting is.
Tumblr media
And as far as we know, the only one who has seen where she lives is Owlbert, who is Eda's palisman.
Tumblr media
Over the past couple of episodes, Eda has definitely warmed up to Luz. And, who shows up first when Luz is tracked down by the Grom?
Eda is. When Luz says she can't fight the Grom, Eda immediately says "That's okay." And I thought about it for a little bit, but Luz joining the two has made the dynamics and mood alot brighter than before. This human, who could be compared to Eda's situation when she was her age, wants to learn magic and still trusts and accompanies her after the curse, the fact that they're on the run, being offered much more greater things than living with two criminals who sells human junk for a living.
Tumblr media
And maybe she wants to pay that back by avoiding suspicion that Luz is in another dimension. Who knows.
It could be the Emperor's Coven fucking something up (most likely,) but they don't know where she lives or comes from. Then again, the message from the titles "A WITCH LOSES A TRUE WAY" could suggest that Eda might join the Emperor's Coven, willingly or unwillingly.
Next Theory:
When I saw this scene, I knew something was/had been up.
King tells Eda that she was a bit harsh on Luz by telling her she shouldn't be Grom queen and take Amity's place because she was "fragile." In return, Eda says "Facing Grom means facing your worst fear, King. And I don't think Luz knows what that means yet." She stays silent for a bit until she changes the subject to red eyeshadow.
Like said, Eda already has a burning hatred for Hexside and the Emperor's Coven, but I think this could be a little thing as to why. Lilith was one of the best in Hexside that she ended up joining the Emperor's Coven. We don't know the exact logistics of why a person is chosen to fight Grom for Gromnight, but I think it's safe to say that the more powerful and dedicated students do (like Amity.) Lilith would seem like a likely choice for that year's Grom Queen, so it makes me wonder what her worst fear was. Whatever it was, it could of been about Eda or their parents, affected Eda and possibly the Clawthorne family.
But, possibly, it could of been Eda. Eda could of been a witch with great potential that was chosen for Grom, got over excited and over confident, or possibly wanted to fight it instead of Lilith and traded places (Lilith could of been scared of her worst fear, or out of spite and sibling rivalry.) When she ended up fighting it, it shapeshifted into her worst fear which I think could revolve around her family, her curse or her identity compared to Lilith.
This line may have just been for kicks and giggles, but when Eda says "Oh, King. Teenagers are brutal. They'll boo anyone, and that kind of humiliation can stick with you for life." Most likely, Eda did this, but it would be really guiltily angsty of me to assume she has been booed by teenagers before. But why? Maybe because she couldn't face her worst fears, or the adored popular student of the time (Lilith) had some sort of covered emotions she didn't want to tell upfront but got revealed during Grom.
Eda's exact becoming of "The Owl Lady" is unknown, but I've always wondered how people knew she was cursed. She looked pretty embarrassed when the Grom shifted into her temporarily.
Tumblr media
But when it instead turns into Luz's mother, Eda realizes, "Oh shit. I was wrong."
When Luz was training with Edric, Emira and Amity, who made a version of Eda making fun of Luz for being fragile, Eda didn't know the context behind this. She could, but I don't think she heard Luz openly proclaim that she's afraid of Eda's rejection and not being good enough to be a witch, not Eda herself. When Eda goes outside, she doesn't know the actual fear, but she knows that she was there when Luz was training how to cope with her worst fears.
Tumblr media
So it just may be me and my turning for more angstier content, but since the curse seems to be getting worse, Eda would probably seperate herself from Luz and King for a while (possibly.)

A Discovery of Witches Season 2 - I Have Issues With This Season!
Tumblr media
Before anyone gets defensive, I do like this show. It’s not my favourite TV show, but I’ve been very reserved in liking a show too much after Game of Thrones. Seriously, that show ruined my way of enjoying a show forever. The last two season, whatever you felt about GOT, in terms of storytelling, it was a disaster and decisions made within it were stupid and non-sensical. But I digress (even thinking about it makes me irritated).
A Discovery of Witches Season 2 was a long, drawn out bore fest. If I’m to sum it up, that is how it felt. There is one thing that really bothered me more than anything by the last episode and this may seem trivial but it made me dislike the main characters (which I was struggling to like throughout this whole season anyway).
Jack.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, in season two, Diana brings a little orphan boy into her and Matthew’s tudor home, feed him and gives him a place to stay. They then go on throughout the entire season to allowing him to grow attached like family to them (we’re talking months here if not over a year). Give him education, reading, and caring for him at night when he has night terrors etc. Basically adopting him. So, why am I so bothered? Well, by the end of the season, Diana is pregnant, and their going back to the present. So they just say their goodbyes to Jack and leave.
That pissed me off so badly I can’t reconcile with them as characters. It was obvious he had grown attached to them, bonded, and basically like family, even mother and father to him, only for him to be left behind by them. I think that is pretty shitty no matter how you look at it. Whether intentional or not, they brought him into their home and treated him like their own child, but then at the last moment because they’ve to come back into the present era, they leave him. I don’t know, but I just found that whole story line a little shitty. Jack had no family and was living on the streets, stealing because he was hungry, only for this couple to give him a home and only later abandon him again. Shitty.
It honestly reminded me of that Youtube couple who adopted a child that had needs, only to ‘return’ him a while later because they couldn’t cope with him, while giving a sob story and a few tears.
I was struggling to like Matthew throughout this whole season, he acted really shitty towards Diana, which bothered me so much, and it was all played down as ‘protecting her’. Bsht. ‘But look how good he was with Jack?’ Yeah, that was the only good thing about him this season, and then made worse by his easy disconnection when they had to leave by the end of it.
I know some fans will disagree with me and excuse this behaviour because their from the future and Jack is from Tudor times, so blah blah reasons. I get it, you love these characters, but I just didn’t this season, and major flaws in their ‘good’ persona broke through which just weren’t nice at all.
So yeah, I didn’t appreciate them taking in an orphan and making him feel like family, only to abandon him at the last moment because you got to return to the future and you’re pregnant. Kinda shitty in my opinion.
Tumblr media
Matthew - Blood Rage.
Never mentioned in the first season, and honestly - it was such a lame thing. Another vampire series where you never see the vampire’s teeth. This is getting boring and kind of childish. A series that has magic, blood, violence, sexual moments, doesn’t have vampire teeth? Boring. Sorry not sorry. The vampires in this world are boring, not scary, not even interesting. Matthew is made out to be a good vampire, who restrains himself, blah blah crap, but honestly - I have more connection to Lestat, Lois, Claudia, Blade, Stefan, Eric, Pam even Bill (William Compton) etc. Matthew though? No, he just wasn’t as good this season. They tried to make him have a ‘issue’ because of the time, etc, but I just thought he was a bit of an dick. Blood rage also was a poor excuse and given a modern plot too, with some character had blood rage, along with Marcus. Anyway, I just didn’t like him this season or the whole ‘blood rage’ excuse.
Tumblr media
Diana.
Look, I appreciated the whole ‘’They’re not teenagers’’ thing when it came to this show, same with True Blood. I hate teenage romances or that follow teenagers around as if they have more years of experience than a 30 something. I appreciate the change of audience, the maturity, the complexity, the lived in past, all those things that come with older characters that I can relate too so much more than a teenager. Which is why I like vampire shows like True Blood, movies like Interview with the Vampire, Blade, Vampire Hunter D etc. They are fantastic, deeply complex characters with amazing stories.
Diana though...meh. I was so into the magic thing in the first season, what drew me to it, not the vampires (lost interest once I knew I wouldn’t see the teeth). However, this season, I’m so over the ‘’must protect Diana’’ thing, I just found myself nodding off in parts. She’s treated like a sacred divine being, and the only one of her kind. Those ‘’chosen one’’ stories can be intriguing in some cases like Harry Potter, who, grew over time and had complex emotions about it, and he did suffer immensely for being the ‘’one’’. Diana however, this season - is a bit of a bitch. A know it all. A little too smug.
I’m also tired of the whole ‘’rich vampire who played a role in major historical things’’. The rich vampire who can give you the world is a nice thought, but I don’t like it all that much, it just makes it harder to buy into the whole secrecy, living in the shadows stuff. It seems everyone in Tudor times knows about Vampire, Witches and Daemons, so...a bit weird honestly.
Diana getting pregnant I knew was coming, as its apparently in the books too (not into the books, sorry). But, it’s another cliché like Twilight. Honestly, this is very similar to Twilight but their older. Yeah. And Diana has magic and apparently the most powerful being on the planet. I get that their these incredibly intertwined lovers who were destined for each other across time and space, which is all nice and everything, but Jesus....is their no one else or anything else important to them at all? I also thought it was cheap as f**k bringing Diana’s dad in at the last moment, as this emotional weight, which just didn’t do it for me at all. It’s really sad to say this but I lost all connection to Diana this season, and to their love story. It fizzled out faster than my lemonade when I leave it to sit in a warm spot.
Tumblr media
The Other Characters
Their really wasn’t that much time with them at all to bond with. Marcus’s relationship with the auctioneer woman? That escalated quickly. Seriously, one moment their having a one night stand, to the next, he tells her all the secrets of his world and bringing her to France and meeting Ysabeau. Is he planning on staying with her forever now? Like what is going on there? No interest.
I wanted to know more about this baby born of Daemons but damn they left it so late and gave so little time and by the end it’s hard to care about everything. These stories really need to stop trying to add multiple characters and stories into a just one story. Just make one story. Not several packed into a main one. Flesh it out better, slower with other characters.
Don’t get me wrong, I love the aesthetic of this world, the design, the beauty of it. Even the magic is interesting, to a point, if a little simple for my taste. I do appreciate what they’re trying to do, but once again the stories fall flat, the characters become distant to the audience (talking of myself, maybe others don’t feel that way), and not relatable at all. This is fantasy, and we can’t related in many ways, but their lives, choices and feelings do make it relatable. I remember watching Interview with the Vampire and seeing how much consequences Lois’ choices caused him, it was devastating because you knew Lois had to make a choice which wasn’t always right and it burdened him immensely. Even as bad as the last few seasons of True Blood were, their were heavy, heavy consequences on all the characters for everything that had happened throughout the show and all the years.
This show just felt very Twilight by this second season, and as much as Twilight is okay back in the day, now it feels outdated in terms of relationships, intimacy, toxicity, danger, and other things important to us in terms of love, romance, family and friendship.
Another tv show I’ve been disappointed in unfortunately, like Game of Thrones, Outlander (even though the standard is still there, the story has gone off too far not for me to hold interest anymore), are but a few that I was really into and then slowly they veered off course and so did my love for them. Same with A Discovery of Witches, which is only in its 2nd season but already it feels flat.
Anyway, rant over lol! Only my opinion, you can love it or not, just a random opinion on a personal tumblr page.

About that Finale
Tumblr media
So, it all ends in this, uh?
I will say, i read about the possibility of Earth and Mewni becoming one dimention, but a shrug it off as “too crazy”.
Guess i was wrong!
The episode itself... was not that bad. It had a lot of stuff to put in a 22 minute episode, so of course it felt rushed. But the bad thing is that it felt anticlimatic? The actual climax was resolved way to fast and without hardship. Mina was easily stopped, and the whole “destroy the magic” thing was played straight. Most of the time of the episode was centered around Star and Marco, but even then Marco didn’t do much (As usual).
I am still messed up about the magic tho. Because yeah, the monsters are ok. Tom and Pony are ok. But what about the MHC? Their death being played TOTALLY for fun was weird. I mean they are bad, they deserved punishment, and i wasn’t against them being destroyed, its just weird it happened like that. And Hekapoo being ok with DYING? thats just odd.
The thing that its sad its how the Multiverse just... got so much smaller. There is no dimensional hopping anymore. No more magic. Kelly is trapped in her homeworld. So is everyone else that. In season 1, dimensional hopping was a good thing, and in this season it just got cancelled forever. Its pretty sad. Except fo Star and Marco, who just got their happy ending.
And that’s just frustrating. I mean, people would like to say that this is ok.
Tumblr media
That Star and Marco choosing to die together was an ok thing to do. If the circumstances were different, i would have agree. But the were really no stakes here? They could be safe, be with their families, but they decide to come back to what could be their possible DEAD. Imagine how devastated their families would have been! The whole of season 3 (and part of season 4) had the message that friends get separated and that you cant leave your family behind. Marco wanted to go to college, take care of his little sister... he sacrificed it all for Star, but that wasn’t his call to make. Don’t they think in the place they have on other people’s lives?
I believe the writers wanted to pull and ending similar to Gravity Falls’, but it just doesn’t work here. Because in Gravity Falls, Dipper decided to NOT sacrifice his family for his dream/ambition. But in here, Marco and Star were kicking EVERYONE in the butt just so they could be together.
That is not only messed up, its a terrible message for children/teens. It tells them that you have to give up everything/everyone to be with the person you love! WTH? I mean, its a “classic” interpretation of what True Love is, but is also messed up and old.
IF STAR AND MARCO HAD TRULY LOVED EACH OTHER AND BELONGED TO EACH OTHER, DISTANCE WOULD NOT HAVE BREAK THEIR BOND, ONLY MADE IT STRONGER.
But hey, what do i know, right?
And lets not get started on the MINDBREAKING interpretation of the dimentional fuse... I mean, such a thing would have been SO INTERESTING to see how it plays out, but its also weird and an easy fix. I thought there would open a permanent portal to Earth, that would have been sensical. But the two dimentions merging? I would love to see how it plays out, only because i know how complex it would be.
I mean, think about it: Humans/Mewmans invaded the Monster World and took hold of it, creating a murdering Empire. And now that monsters are gaining power and recovering their world... BOOM, its merged with Earth! NOW THERE ARE MILLIONS OF HUMANS MONSTER HAVE TO SHARE THEIR WORLD WITH.
WTH?
Finally, i dont like the “moment” the show ended? Like, it felt like something was missing there. Mewni and Earth just merged, and apart from a few people’s reaction to it, nobody mentions it at all. I get that this is just their way to say that there are more adventures to come, but i felt they just stopped the action at the best moment. I mean i like open endinds, but i dont like inconcluse endings. Again, just a matter that they didnt had enough time.
Seriously, Disney really messed up with this series. And to think that after two episodes aired they ordered a second season. And now they rushed the crew so much the finale ended up as this. They couldn’t even do a 44 minutes episode, they had to settle with a 22 one, and it just was not enough to wrap all that happened. Its offensive, really.
But well, we cant always win. It was obvious they were not going to answer a lot of the questions they raised. We will never now how good this series could have been if no one had tempered with it. But it still gave us many good moments! And personally, i am not gonna let the weird finale to ruin it all for me. I still love this series. I still love the characters. And in a few years i will probably remember it fondly.
Thats all that matters.

They had two years to write the final season and ended up with shitty six episodes, even when they were offered the usual ten! And then they say they planned the ending all along since S3, which sounds like BS because the timeline doesn't add up with their meeting with GRRM in 2013 when the third season was AIRING. I don't know which is worse. Having S8 and its ending planned out even during S7 or giving it a happier and more sensical ending and throwing it away at the last minute. Wdyt?
D&D are just trash and liars. And you’re right about the timeline. GRRM hadn't told them the ending yet when they claimed to have planned it all out n all that. If they did plan it all out (which I don't think they did considering they did such a poor job of setting it up) they decided to do things their way before GRRM even told them his ending.
D&D just wanted to shock everyone, they didn't care about the actual story (“themes are for 8th grade book reports” anyone?) or the characters. They knew Ned’s beheading and the Red Wedding kept people watching but didn’t seem to understand why. It wasn’t even just the shock, it was the fact that the heroes suffered consequences! And honestly, if they cared about the story and the characters they would have stayed true to the books but they took out so much of the fantasy elements and gave character’s stories and/or traits to other characters. I, like many others, are pretty sure they just read the first book and didn’t pay much attention to the others. Otherwise we may have had a completely different show.
Even the things D&D have said in the past just don’t make sense when you look at what they chose to do. And like, they left Bran out of a whole season and wanted to kill him! But he was always gonna be King, okay sure. Jon and Dany’s last scene felt like it was meant for Cersei and Jaime (not that I would want another woman killed by a man she trusts near her, though that seems to be what’s gonna happen) and most book readers believe Jon and Dany’s fates are tied to each other’s so if one goes, they both go. And since some important characters were left out, they merged their stories with the main character’s story. Like fAegon and JonCon, though I’m not very knowledgeable on the books (I just know a few things lol) so I would suggest reading some metas by book readers if you want to know more on that. There are some good show vs books metas!
And honestly, it’s pretty clear they didn’t care at all if there was a coffee cup at the feast, water bottles, modern shoes on soldiers, JAIME’S HAND GREW BACK!! I honestly haven’t read one good thing about them. Not one. They’re horrible and didn’t deserve their jobs as showrunners. They’re ungrateful for the opportunity too! How could anyone be?
Anyways, they didn’t care, didn’t plan, wanted to shock, and are trash humans.

Welp, I watched the first episode of Sailor Moon Crystal. And so it begins. This first episode is very similar to the first episode of the 90s anime, which makes sense, since it’s the first chapter of the manga. So plot wise there’s not much to say that I’ve not already said. Notable differences though include what I feel like is way more talk about Sailor V than was in the 90s show, which I’m cool with, you can foreshadow her a bit better and have Usagi’s aspirations to be like Sailor V contrasted with her actual reaction to being Sailor Moon. Speaking of which, we’ve now got some slightly different poses than those of the 90s anime, Crystal’s more or less used the same “tsuki ni kawatte oshioki yo” pose but Usagi kind of moves her body around a lot more, like the arm movements are way more exaggerated, which I think I actually prefer, gives her a more particular liveliness and flair, I’m a fan. Also this isn’t a change but I totally forgot about her fuckin, red things in her hair being able to hear danger, was that ever used again? And then there’s her ultrasonic crying, which I also forgot about and think was only used like twice in the 90s anime. Also, Moon Tiara Action is now Moon Tiara Boomerang, which honestly is a much more sensical name, comes with a way shorter animation (thank god) and now, rather than become a magic flying disc, the tiara sort of, fuses into a big outline of a circle, which I’m down with. Also, Mamoru’s first appearance features him in a tuxedo, which I checked and is manga accurate, but my god what a fucking wanker. I don’t remember if he was this obviously looking for the Silver Crystal at this point in the 90s anime but I’m glad he is here, sort of draw the connection a bit sooner since the twist that he’s Tuxedo Mask doesn’t really mean much anyway. Also he doesn’t throw his usual rose to save Usagi here, which I actually think kinda sucks since it’s such an iconic introduction. Oh well.  And then lastly for sort of plot stuff, the episode ends with an Ami tease, which is exciting, I’m glad I don’t have to wait long to see her again, and yeah if Crystal aims to cut out some filler it makes sense that they’d just jump straight to the character introductions. So like, so far a lot of the changes to the story and episode structure are very minor things and I actually appreciate them quite a bit, many I’d say are for the better even. In the long term I have no idea how true that’ll remain but for now we’re off to a good start.
So let’s talk about the visuals now.
Immediately I want to mention something - I torrented the Blu-Ray for this. I know Crystal’s visuals to be infamously uh, questionable, but with the knowledge that the Blu-Rays do improve a lot of the areas where the original cut faltered, I kind of had to go with them, Crystal deserves to present me with its best after all. And I’m uh, not of high opinion. I like the sort of water paint look of the backgrounds, it’s a less distinct look than the more blue oil paints of the 90s anime, but I liked them. But I don’t think they blend with the character art at all, something the 90s anime pulled off without a hitch. Those soft water colour backgrounds conflict really badly with the vibrant character colour palettes and artwork, which sort of immediately makes everything look less appealing. I wanna say the animation was fine, but fucking hell that 3D transformation sequence was really bad, the gross noodly limbs in particular, plus the awful look and physics of the hair, it’s really upsetting to the eyes. And then the 2D character artwork isn’t great either. Everyone’s got really big, angular heads and I don’t like the look of them, the males especially all looked really bad, and there’s nothing about the eyes I was able to enjoy either. I know Crystal’s supposed to look more like Takeuchi’s art rather than the 90s anime’s own art style, but after looking at the manga myself just to compare, Crystal is a really bad imitation. Cute, pretty, beautiful - all words with different suggestions about Sailor Moon’s aesthetics, all 3 of which can be applied to both the 90s anime and Takeuchi’s manga despite their differences. And yet none of them can really be applied to this. I’m sure I’ll get used to it, but that won’t make it suddenly look good. I do believe Crystal season 3 is where they change up the art style a bit and people actually like the look of that one so hey, something to look forward to.
Sound fronts, we’ve obviously got a full recast for everyone aside from Usagi. And thank god for that, Kotono Mitsuishi’s still got it and I’m glad I won’t need to readjust to the main character. But actually, of the few characters who do appear in the first episode, most of their replacements are pretty good. Right out of the way, Shingo, Ikuko, Jadeite, Motoki and Haruna-sensei all sound fine, though I don’t really remember their original voices well enough to compare. Naru also sounds good and still pretty cute, though her original voice is cuter. Umino still sounds like a fucking nerd who I want to beat up and that’s good, though he sounds a bit snobbier here, whereas in the original he sounded more pathetic, so I think I prefer the original on that front. But both of them are fine. Despite the Ami tease she has no speaking lines this episode, so our most major recasts are Mamoru and Luna. Mamoru actually sounds pretty great. They got a guy that sounds quite a lot like Toru Furuya, there’s that same sort of kindness to his voice blended with a sort of older gruffness. This guy sounds a tiny bit more gruff but honestly I’m really happy with it, he’s enough like Mamoru’s old voice to where I’m not getting whiplash from seeing a different voice come out of him, and that’s all I really wanted. Luna actually takes the opposite approach, they got someone that doesn’t sound very much like Keiko Han at all, though actually I still think it works? They went with a sort of, younger, bit less raspy voice, and while it’s way different from what I’m used to it’s one that I think suits Luna pretty well, not really upset about the change or anything. So that’s interesting, they got someone really similar for Mamoru and really different for Luna and yet I think both were great. What I’m most curious about is the rest of the Sailor Soldiers so, we’ll see those soon. Musically, we seem to have a bit more of a rock focus, which is fine with me, stuff was pretty sweet, and Moon Pride honestly slaps pretty hard. So Crystal is promising to be pretty great audio wise, whereas visually? Uh, nah.
And that’s the first episode of Crystal. Interesting time, looking forward to more, etc, etc, end of post.
