We continued to nerd it up in Osaka today by visiting the Godzilla store, Capcom store, and the Eorzea cafe. ❤️ So much great merchandise to buy and amazing statues on display!!
It's my second time back. I went about 4 years ago to the Tokyo one and a lot of it was the same, but some was different too! Back then I really hadn't played FFXIV so uhh.. there's that.
This time they had All Saint's Wake placemats (Pasela caught on and they offer 200¥ lamination in the lobby) and you get to pick your first coasters.
We reserved online and the seat charge includes free coasters and first drink.
I got the Crystal Tower. (The Exarch was sold out 😭) It was sweet, with a sugar "tower" and light.
I split the uhh La-hee vegetables. I think the olive oil pool would make Gordon Ramsay cry, but the mushrooms were so nice.
I was on the fence about this one because of the chocolate, but I actually really enjoyed the little mocha bean.
We asked for the English menu and the Hien dish name was killing me 😂
It was fun! The wait staff was not dressed as a retainer like my first time pre-covid, and there were no cactpot tickets distributed (they called the winners by table seat it seemed, and everyone who won was one the other side of the wall from where I was sitting.)
I went with family to the Eorzea Cafe for the first time~ I ate too much but the Black Mage Ley Lines tiramisu was sweet and delicious!
We won the honey toast first prize (the cafe holds a lottery), but we exchanged it for a voucher ticket because we couldn’t eat anymore. It’s supposed to look like this:
Weary wanderers, heroes of light. Rest your world-worn bodies and souls in the seats of the Eorzea Cafe, and grab you a bite to remind you of home.
The Eorzea Cafe is a theme cafe in Japan themed off of the MMO game, Final Fantasy 14. Based inside of the Pasela Resort buildings, this restaurant has multiple chains in different parts of Japan, specifically Akihabara and Osaka with pop-up restaurants, and each location is themed off of a place in Eorzea (Akihabara is Gridania, Osaka is Ul’dah, and temporary locations include Yokohama as Limsa Lominsa, Kyoto as Kugane and Nagoya as Norvrandt).
Due to my location and income, I personally don’t have a lot of wiggle room to visit any of the temporary or alternate locations. Therefor, my experiences and reviews will be coming out of the Akihabara location! There’s a couple of other caveats to my reviews, but I’ll detail that in a different post.
For those who are curious about getting in and trying some of Eorzea’s goods for themselves, I’ll put info below. While the system of getting reservations used to be complicated and involve a lot of third party ticket purchasing, now reserving is as simple as going to the website and going through the steps. Really refreshing!
Looking forward to seeing you there, Warriors! May you walk in the Light of the Crystal.

Day 5 - We woke up quite early and the rain from the night before had gotten much worse. I wasn't too fussed as today we traveled back to Tokyo to start the final leg of our trip. We bought an umbrella from the hotel to share to get to to 7eleven to get breakfast to eat at the hotel before we left as we were ready early enough and the weather was so bad we didn't fancy trying to find something on the way. We ended up buying a 2nd umbrella at 7eleven as the rain was so bad there was no way we could share.
Breakfast eaten we checked out at 10am, and headed straight to shin-Osaka. We got our first ever ekiben from the station to enjoy for lunch and caught the 11:48am 2.5hour shinkansen to Tokyo.
The rain poured down the whole ride back to Tokyo which was ok, but meant the views weren't as good as they could be. But out of all the days we could of had rain it was the best day for it to be raining.
We arrived in Akihabara around 3:30pm just in time to check straight into our hotel. Once in and settled, we headed out to do a few hours of shopping before our second trip to an Eorzea café, this time in Akihabara. We stopped at a convenience store, and MATT HAD HIS UMBRELLA STOLEN. Can you believe it, I never thought we would have anything stolen in Japan. Shocking. After we did a little shopping we head to the café.
It was right in the heart of Akihabara so we didn't have to travel at all and we were shown in to our table. I will start with my complaint. THE TABLES WERE INSANELY SMALL. The seats had arms and were small and REALLY LOW DOWN. We fitted, but not comfortably. Although the arms dug in, which wasn't great, we were FAR TOO tall for the table and chairs. Not unusual for Matt (who is 6ft6") but unusual for me. It made sitting there pretty unpleasant. They were so low my legs barely fitted under the table.
HOWEVER, the overall atmosphere was cooler than Osaka, there was more decoration, and the room was done up more in Akihabara, felt like you really were in Eorzea. The food was just as nice, and we had more choices too which was cool. We shared the potato dish again that they had in Osaka, and I had croquettes which were SOOO NICE. Matt had a hamburger steak and also a dish called 'Hien loves Mol sausage' heh he he.... We had a few few drinks again and I had the bard drink and we ended it with a custard chocobo bun which was DELICIOUS!
I really enjoyed both cafés. If you want to go, then I think I preferred Osaka because the tables were better and it was quieter. However Akihabara you definitely had much more atmosphere. My opinion also probably is a little one sided as we went and lunch vs dinner time with the busyness. When we go back to Japan I will defiantly be going again to either one or both if I am in the area!
Once we got out most things were shutting and we headed over to a department store before calling it a night and heading back to the hotel!
