I want to see more portrayals of raw nonhumanity.
I want us to talk about ALL aspects of nonhumanity. we can talk about wanting to play fight, to chase prey, to long for missing extremities, but we should also be talking about wanting to roll in filth, wanting to mark your territory, urges to eat your young, and everything else that's "gross" even if it’s uncomfortable. Nonhumanity is weird and gross, it makes you want to do things that humans don't do. We don't exist to be palatable images of "human who identifies as an animal (but only in the cute ways).”
There is a unintentionally upheld standard that you have to make an image out of your identity, it HAS to be pretty and digestible for other people, your nonhumanity MUST to be organized and palatable. it can be "edgy" but it can't be too weird otherwise you're too weird. Why bind your existence to an idea of normalcy? Why stifle yourself in order to conform to the standards of a world that will never accept you? Why strive to be accepted by those that will never truly listen to you?
You are more than aesthetic photos and gear and silly posts!!! You are full of depth, you are a grotesque experience and you are made of blood and bones and guts and thoughts and instincts, and all of that should be treated with as much weight as it can be! You are allowed to be “Off.”
Interrogate your own discomfort around your identity, let yourself be okay with the things that are uncomfortable!!! You should relish in your own nonhumanity, you should wholeheartedly project the nasty and weird and angry parts of existence as an animal, they are just as real and as tangible and beautiful as your collars or your masks or your tails or anything else you hold dear. yeesh!

Remember, not all nonhumans are therians or otherkin. Especially those of us who are clinical or endelic. Remember to respect psychotic, delusional, and schizophrenic nonhumans. And non-therian/otherkin nonhumans in general.

If you don't mind my asking, because I don't trust things like Google to give me a straight answer, what is alterhuman? I read the post you reblogged but I don't understand what it is if not those other things. I'm sorry
oh no, it's no problem! /gen
ok, so, alterhuman is an umbrella term for anyone who doesn't feel 100% human. it encompasses identities such as:
otherkin ("A nonhuman creature, such as Dragons, Fae or Elves. Also used as an umbrella term to describe Otherkin, Fictionkin, and Therians. Some choose to use it just as an umbrella term [for alterhumanity]." i blatantly ripped this from the internet because i didn't know how to explain it. depends on who you ask, YMMV)
therianthropy (often shortened to "therian". usually used to refer to identifying as a real-life animal of some sort. common to see people have a spiritual connection to said identity, but not required)
otherhearted (having some sort of bond with a species, does not have to be a real animal)
endelity (nonhumanity influenced in some form or fashion by delusion and/or psychosis)
many, many others such as constelic, synpath, copinglink, etc.
I'm gonna attach two different links for you to check out!
hope this helps!!! :D /gen

For those who identify as nonhuman but not therian/otherkin/alterhuman
if you feel comfortable, regardless of your choice, please explain your choice and your personal beliefs. I'm literally so curious as to how nonhumans (besides those who use therian, otherkin or alterhuman labels) view themselves and how they perceive their identities.
Nonhuman spaces are so heavily therian/'kin that it's hard to find others who don't perceive themselves that way.

Something that makes me sad is how a lot of otherkin hate being human. Don’t get me wrong, I understand! But maybe I just have sort of thought about it in a different way.
You get to experience the world in a whole new perspective! You now have wonderful and complex human relationships, you are an intelligent species that can create art! Art! You can create things that no animal can, that not even any other human can because they are all so unique. You make love letters to yourself everyday, the art you make for your kintype, the clothes you wear, completely unique and curated just for that side of yourself. I mean isn’t it a wonderful thing to be able to experience both perspectives? To be able to put language to them? Speak to eachother about them! Nothing else in the planet can do that! You were a chance in billions to exist as you exist right now, and against all odds you’re here, and I think that’s beautiful.

i want someone to take care of me like a "real" dog. im tired of performing humanity all the time i want to walk around on all fours and eat from a bowl on the floor and jump up onto peoples laps and curl up and be pet and given treats and taught tricks. i want to run around outside in the grass and fields and herd flocks and watch over them while they graze. none of this stupid "rent" and "doctor's appointments" let me just be a dog.

•A Lycodraconic Werewolf's Experience With Clinical Lycanthropy and Therianthropy•
•Greetings to those of you who have stumbled upon this post. I have written a resource detailing the vital things to know regarding clinical lycanthropy, clinical zoanthropy, and its false relations to the therianthropy community. As someone who both identifies as therian and suffers from clinical lycanthropy, I wanted to write a resource provided from the perspective of someone who actually suffers from clinical lycanthropy in order to discuss the subject and debunk misinformation. The resource as details why therian and otherkind identity are not related to clinical lycanthropy in of themselves. This resource may be edited at a later date to add any new information to the resource. Do feel free to ask my being additional questions about clinical zoanthropy or clinical lycanthropy. l will always answer all good faith questions. Feel free to share this post around with any other individuals.

Musings on Psychosis
I realize now that my vampire 'type was a product of a psychotic episode that lasted throughout 2023. That episode has ended and it's been strange having certain perspectives of myself wrenched away from me. For around a year I was, perhaps, an endel in the immediate sense, but I wouldn't venture to call myself that now. It's hard for me to define now what vampires are to me. My general fascination with them is still there, and I remember the identity, shifts, and species dysphoria I experienced acutely, but that sense of self is distant now. I'm torn on whether I consider "vampire" to be a part of myself now - I know I certainly don't with the same intensity that I felt in psychosis. For a year I identified myself with monsters, werewolves, villains, and various morbid topics, and coming out of that was a harsh experience. In some ways I am no longer the person I was prior to the episode, or the person (monster/beast) I was during. All the changes psychosis has put me through have been unsettling - having it warp and change my identity on a confusingly temporary basis has been chaotic and deeply overwhelming.
I see a lot of endels and other psychotic folk on here with presumably permanent identities and sometimes I wonder whether anyone else has had experiences like mine. Especially those with episodic conditions like my schizophrenia/schizoaffective, where severity of psychosis changes over time and there may be periods of remission. I'm medicated, now, but I don't know for sure that this will never happen again. That I will never "become" a vampire again, or become some other species my psychotic brain decides to latch on to. My identity is fluid, and only after years of confusion have I realized that this fluidity is the product of a schizo-spectrum disorder. Maybe next time my identity has a total overhaul I'll recognize it as a psychotic episode - or maybe I'll be in too deep to realize, again.

all platonic/general affection and the word kin is used as an alterhuman umbrella term, not otherkin specifically.
