Villain: Laormoch, Archfey of the Wild Unknown
Embodying the primal awe and terror of those places beyond the edge of the map, this ancient spirit of the land exists to test and torment those who stray too far from the safety of the familiar.
Though the old stories call him the" thane of the faroff" or an "invisible giant as big as the sky", it is hard to put Laormoch's physicality and the fear it evokes into words: How do you describe being lorded over by ancient trees, or the scornful glare of unfamiliar stars? His shape is only ever suggested by how it bends the natural world, but he is always distant, though always so immense that it feels like he may reach out and crush the viewer.
Adventure Hooks
The party stumble into a village to find its inhabitants struggling to recover after a disastrous hunt. Some wretched beast tore through some weeks ago and was only dispatched with great effort. It was a cause for celebration, at least until the thing was seen stalking in the woods, reading for another attack. To prevent it from assailing their walls and destroying their homes the village's best hunter leads the village's strongest on a sortie, downing the beast only after injuring many and losing a few. This has happened three times so far and the village's defenders are wearing thin. Perhaps the party could lend their aid once the beast is spotted again, and perhaps spend the intervening time trying to find its obviously supernatural origins.
Almost inconsolable, a great lord calls for the party's aid in rescuing his son and heir, who he claims was stolen by the sky itself: snatched out of his tower window by a great hand and carried off into the clouds. The servants and courtiers are skeptical, everyone knows the lord was so protective of his son he barely let the boy leave his rooms, let alone the castle, and it's likely the lad finally managed some means of escape. While they're considering exactly how to search for the lad the party will be approached by the Lord's bastard daughter, she was denied her inheritance by her father's traditionalism, and sees the opportunity to have herself recognized if the true born heir is never found. She'll ask that even if the party does find her younger brother, they either help him escape or leave him where he is, as it would be better for the both of him if he doesn't return to the castle.
Backstory:
Seeking to prove herself against a boastful rival, a hunter ventured far from her village into the deep wilderness, where she found and slew an elk of ethereal beauty, eating its flesh to sustain herself and taking its antlers as her trophy. Though she returned in glory, the beast had been marked by the Thane of the Faroff, who has raised its butchered body as a reverent and gifted it bloodthirsting branches to replace what was taken. The revenant won't stop until it's killed the hunter and torn her body to shreds, which will likely be sometime after she's gotten a good portion of the other villagers killed because she's too good at hunting and too stuborn to die without a fight. The revenant has more than one trick though, the branches animating its body bear seedpods which it scatters as it dies or gores others to death. These seeds eventually grow into twigblights, which are slowly massing in the forest waiting to overwhelm the village's defenders and open the gate for the revenant's final rampage.
Wishing more than anything to get away from the suffocating confines of his home, the young heir has found himself on the wrong end of a fairy bargin. Whisked off by Laormoch to his castle beyond the horizon, the boy has been forced to serve as the archfey's cupbearer as repayment for his captor's "kindness". The party will need to dig deep into the local folklore to figure out how and why the sky might snatch up a forlorn youth, potentially missing him entirely until they run into him while visiting the feywild for a completely different adventure.

Land! Sweet, sweet land!
Lumine almost feels as if she could cry in this moment. She shouldn’t have chosen that merchant vessel over Beidou’s Alcor and experienced crew. At the time, the merchant’s ship was leaving sooner –two entire weeks before Beidou was planning to set sail– and Lumine had only wanted to reach Inazuma as soon as possible in order to continue her search for her brother.
They’d been hit by a storm, and the ship had capsized. Fortunately, there were enough emergency rowboats for all members on board, even if the merchant’s goods had been a complete loss to the ruthless waves. Less fortunately… it had been several long days of drifting at sea, and their dwindling supplies weren’t about to last much longer.
“We’ve made it, Lumine!” Paimon cheers. Lumine nods firmly. “We’re alive!”
Alive, and in desperate need of aid. Lumine and a few of the other stronger sailors set out to explore a bit and get a better idea of their surroundings. Hopefully they’d come across some friendly locals who’d be able to extend a helping hand, or at least be willing to just tell them where they’d washed up on–
Someone’s there.
Another person! Lumine quickens her footsteps, even as waterlogged as she is.
“Excuse me–!”
Paimon flies ahead of her, chasing the figure that she’d glimpsed. “Wait! Wait, please, we’re just hapless travelers who –ack!”
“Paimon?” Urgency quickens her footsteps, and Lumine hurries to reach her companion. “You…”
Her voice dies in her throat.
There’s a young girl standing amidst the trees, with blue-white hair that appears almost silver beneath the sunlight. Her clothing is in the distinct fashion of Inazuman dress, a mix of soft blue and lilac colors flowing down her body. It’s almost enough to make Lumine acutely self-conscious of her own waterlogged state and haphazard appearance from days of floating out at sea–
But there’s a dark purple cloth tied over the girl’s face, covering her eyes. A blindfold. The girl is blind.
Blind, and yet she’d moved so smoothly and confidently over the rough terrain. Lumine had barely managed to glimpse her earlier, and if it hadn’t been for her coloring standing out so starkly against the verdant backdrop of the trees, she would’ve thought that she’d imagined it all in her head.
The girl raises her hand –the hand that’s holding onto the back of Paimon’s dress, “Is it yours?”
Paimon squirms. “I’m not an ‘it!’”
“Yes, Paimon is my friend,” Lumine nods firmly –and belatedly realizes that the girl probably can’t even see it. Wait. Is she really blind? The way she moved, the way she seemed aware of everything around her… didn’t really seem like the motions of a blind person…
The girl wordlessly releases her grip on Paimon; Paimon immediately returns to Lumine’s side, casting the girl an unsettled, suspicious look.
“Um…” Best to just get to the point, probably. “Could you possibly point us towards where the nearest settlement is, please?”
“Head south,” the girl raises a pale hand, the one that’s not holding the basket of strange purple grass as she points towards the direction to their left. “Watatsumi’s Bourou Village isn’t far from here. You’ll find it easily once you reach and follow the road.”
“Thank you!” That’s probably the best news that Lumine has heard ever since the shipwreck. “We really appreciate it, miss…?”
The girl remains silent. Lumine trails off awkwardly.
“… Erm, what should I call you?” Lumine ends up asking sheepishly. The girl is certainly strange, but she doesn’t sense any ill will from her. And she’d helped give directions easily enough; Lumine would like to have a name for the person who’d given them assistance.
“… Gojo," the girl says. "Call me Gojo.”

discussed starter for @darlingblitzy
Sterilized. It was the end of his child-bearing. A fitting end, Stolas thought. Finalized with two eggs nestled in the incubator. Two chances at life. Two babes that would need him, want him, LOVE him above all else… At least until they were teenagers. If Octavia was anything to go by, there would be quote a few difficult years in their adolescence. But that was quite a ways off yet. They weren't even here yet. Their milestones not yet met to hatch. He wondered if there was a heartbeat yet-- probably too early yet.
Home for a few days by now, he had spent most of that time in bed; sore. His middle a hash of staples and stitches, he'd grimaced when he changed the bandages. Hadn't let Blitz into the bathroom, much to his chagrin. The wound from his surgery felt unbearably ugly and he didn't want the imp to see him that way. Not yet.
Give it a little more time to heal. To scar. To fade beneath a regrowth of feathers where it could be hidden more easily than a shaved and plucked laceration only just put together.
Both eggs had been born fertile, despite the second's more trialed entrance into the world. A quick look with the lamp had shown a fetal zygote within the watery contents. It would certainly grow into a healthy, happy baby. Or, at least, that's what Stolas would hope. They weren't quite out of the woods yet. There was still a chance that something could happen.
No. Don't think that way. Everything will be fine, he told himself firmly. Nothing would happen to the babies. Nothing. Not if he had any say in fate's design. And he had more of a hand in than most with his grimoire on-hand.
The first day he got out of bed, he had been home for 3 days. Long enough to be tired of the softness of his mattress and laying on his back. So, though he was sore, he got himself up. Managed to dress himself in a robe before trailing down the staircase to the rest of the house. Gaspar met him at the bottom of the stairs, but he waved him away absently. Not necessarily the most dignified a dismissal, but his focus wasn't on imp sensitivity. He was wondering where Blitz was in the house.
"Blitz..?" he called out, wandering the halls and corridors. Arms folded in a subconscious cradle of his middle, he wasn't quite standing upright as he searched for the other.

❝ i'm fine, ❞ she had seen more darkspawn in the past week than she had ever heard of in stories. bess had the good sense to stop remarking upon it, to stop referencing such things as a way to help. there was little they could do but fight, marian knew. she as no grey warden. this man, though - ❝ your arm, ser. i have people who can tend to that, if your company will join us. ❞
@grewarden liked for a starter.

Villain: Ser Klatterbell the Unbidden
You’re not on his list, but he’ll scratch you out anyway
Strange winds blow as the solstice nears, and though folk take shelter by their hearths and in the company of loved ones, a new threat rises beneath the boughs of the old pine forest. A hobgoblin knight recently crossed over from fairlyland, doing the bidding of a terrible archfey of bleakest winter who takes umbridge with the local festivities.  Klatterbell is here to grinch things over, to steal presents and disrupt festivities,  to douse the hope that mortals need to get through the season, and he’s going to have fun doing it.  He and his rowdy goblin warband have the moral temperament of a stone packed into a snowball, callous sadism wrapped in the trappings of yuletide play.
Klatterbell has a list given to him by his master, the names of those causing a ruckous that threaten to disturb the winterfey’s sorrowful sleep. In the manner of most fairy-things, these transgressions are innocuous carried by the wind into the feywild :  The song a farmer hums as she feeds her chickens, a baby’s laugh playing peekaboo, children arguing about the rules of a game they just made up, the ticking of a new clock a merchant bought to decorate his office.
The hob knight has been tasked with bringing silence to the mortal realm, specifically by finding the transgressors on his list and dragging them back to his master’s desolate dungeons. To this end, he has his minions skulking about eavesdropping, or ambushing folk on the road, demanding to know the locations of random strangers.
For his part, the unbidden quite likes being able to thow his weight around in the mortal realm and wants to tarry there for as long as possible. He’s got a magical sack that he can stuff victims in, putting them into an enchanted slumber and making them easy to transport. While the disapearances mount Klatterbell styles himself a yuletide bandit lord, stockpiling the fine things of the season while putting off finishing his job.
Adventure Hooks:
Something’s a bit off at this year’s winter festival. People are avoiding their neighbours, stealing from the market stalls, getting extra raucous at the faire games, or gorging themselves in the feasting tents. The actual cause is that some of Klatterbell’s gobbish minions have disguised themselves as their victims and snuck away to the festivities, intending on indulging themselves in all the mortal world has to offer.
Theoretically Klatterbell could be something of a local boogyman, having been the cause of disappearances over years, or maybe decades as he forestalls his working vacation away from the feywild. Every winter his list gets longer and he expends the minimum effort to scratch off a few names to keep his masters happy.  What chaos then when the party finally confronts him and rescues his victims:  people who have been gone for years suddenly returned, while others more recently taken are still missing, sent off to the feywild to buy the hob time.
In an act of utter villainy, Klatterbell and his followers have KIDNAPPED Yangle the Yulegoat, beloved feywild emissary of good cheer. Some of the kids on the edge of town saw it happen, after a group of hobs descended on their home, raided their larder, and used it as cover to ambush the visiting festive spirit. From what the children overheard, the hobs had intended to roast Yangle right then and there, but were so full up with stuffing themselves from the family’s winter provisions that they were going to have to drag the goat back to their old fortress in the darkest thicket of the snowy wood and save him for later. There’s no time to waste in raiding the goblin fortress, though perhaps if the party is clever they can disguise themselves as fey and slip in with some of the otherworldly guests invited by Klatterbell for the feast.
Also feel free to check out the comments of this post for some holiday hijinx suggested by my followers.

My first map of 2023. This small lake village is built on stilts anchored into the lakebed itself. The community is not wealthy - its economy relies primarily on fishing and dwellings are communal. The village consists of five structures; a small shrine and meeting space, a dwelling for the village chief's family, and three communal houses. All five structures are ringed by walkways and connected by bridges, and are perched at least five feet above the surface of the water - ladders provide access to the boat docks. The map is a 30x30 grid and can be downloaded here in night/day versions w/ or w/o a grid overlay, and without my watermark.
