I absolutely loved Kanda in ch247.
Allen: yeah so that's my trauma dump on how I was abused as a child until I found one person who showed me kindness. and then he died. the end
Kanda: so can I go dig up his body now or
this was both one of the most callous, horrendous things he's ever said to Allen and also one of the most kindest, empathetic actions he's taken towards Allen (or anyone, for that matter).
and he knows it.
he fully knows that he's being terrible, and for once he's not trying to rile up or piss off Allen. but he still insists on digging up Mana's grave—because he's the only one that can.
how are you gonna argue with a man who pulls out the dead bf card
Kanda is the only (?) character that can relate to this possibility—the possibility that Mana isn't dead and has been used. he's the only one that knows the turmoil of "killing" a loved on, living on with that pain, only to find out years later they're not only alive but have been turned into a puppet in the holy war.
Kanda, as an outsider who's just now hearing Allen's past for the first time, knows how suspicious Mana's story is and is the only one that can properly call Allen out on it at this point. he knows Allen is blinded by his love for Mana and has refused to question Mana.
but, even more than that... Kanda is the only one who can help Allen figuratively and literally uncover Mana because Allen did that for Kanda.
Kanda didn't want to face Alma at all. he didn't want to face his past, to confront that he was lied to, to confront that Alma had been a puppet the entire time. and in the process, he lost Alma again. it was only because of Allen that he was able to be with Alma for a short amount of time.
Kanda knows the pain of losing a loved one and having them used against you in this holy war, but he also knows Allen was the only one who could have helped him through that. and now it's his time to return the favor.
I just love how this is easily one of Kanda's kindest moments, where he's truly doing something for the better of someone else, and it's also one of the most ghastly things to ever ask of someone. and it's not a one-off line. he's standing his ground and refusing to take it back.
I aaaalso love how now that he's on a different level of understanding and compassion with Allen, he has to throw out his aggression somewhere, so it all gets directed to Link LOL
this expression? I'll be thinking about this for months
Kanda isn't actively fighting Allen -> Kanda has to fight someone at all times -> Crows led to Alma & him not being able to flee together -> Link is a Crow -> Link gets 110% of Kanda's aggression

i say this with so much heart, one piece has more respect for mentally ill people being a dick because of trauma than i would have in that exact situation. like sanji in wci when hes fully being a massive huge wet pathetic asshole that. like. completely justified that nami reacts so negatively to that while the narrative has a lot of empathy for him because i would kill someone in real life if they did that to me. even if it was a beautiful blond haired man and i had been playing heterosexual chicken with him ever since we first met. the self control on nami there is literally neverending.
like its good that this is the case, well written narratives about mental illness should be this empathetic while fully understanding the consequences of someones actions LIKE wci. these two things are so often treated like theyre mutually exclusive but for op they're not. and i love that. but jesus. she really loves him huh.

#ok. like. guess which ship im talking about here:#Guy is calm and logical but also very obviously deeply traumatized. Autistic/autistic coded and has a lot of friends despite audiences#assuming he’s gonna be an outcast. Also trans/trans coded. introverted but genuinely cares about the people around him and displays#incredible kindness for everyone even though he is low empathy and comes across as an asshole sometimes. very selfless.#Girl(?) is genuinely unhinged and also clearly traumatized. HATE when people get mad at me for apologizing. you drill into people’s heads that they have to take accountability when they make mistakes and then get mad when people reflexively apologize. fuck you.

Playing ace attorney for the first time after dipping my toe in the fandom a little is so funny bc sure I’m super late to it and that’s fine and I knew a bunch of shit going into it but I still get to figure out all the details of the investigations myself and screenshot the parts that have been screenshot a billion times bc I still can’t believe that some of this shit ended up in the game

yknow some of you have gotten real comfortable mocking hyper-empathetic people because some assholes use it as an excuse to be a dick to those with low/no empathy
you guys do know that hyper empathy can cause issues? like it’s a real thing?? you know this, right???

“But, you said-” Steve began to argue but Murray was cutting him off with a laugh.
“I said you'd have the floor to yourself not that the basement was soundproof!”

Saw some posts again with something along the lines of saying that "shen yuan didn't earn anything in the story, it was all shen jiu, then in the end he wasn't even remotely grateful to shen jiu. What a privileged, ignorant asshole."
And like, what? What do you mean?? How many times does shen yuan have to die/explode/sacrifice himself/get kidnapped/infested with plants until you're satisfied with his whump stocks??😭😭😭

Just started watching hannibal and i dont see what this guy is doing wrong. as far as i can tell he's just a gay man who loves to cook fancy meals for his friends
#Im enjoying it so far suprisingly! Im not big on crime shows usually bc all of the#A) intense copaganda#B) repetitive/boring narratives#C) graphic & often fetishistic depictions of violent crimes against women#And i mean hannibal does hit A and C-ish but the story is sooo so fascinating esp the dynamic btwn hannibal/will/abigail#They are sick and twisted#Will is interesting autistic rep as well im glad they leaned into the hyperempathy thing bc that shit SUCKS#and no one ever talks about it bc if you call yourself highly empathetic you sound like such an asshole.#but like it can genuinely be dangerous esp. for women bc it makes us more trusting & therefore more vulnerable to manipulation/abuse#I don't know how to judge the copaganda yet since ive only watched s1. So far its like.#The fbi is generally accepted as a force of good. criminals are all those regular people! And the fbi agents lock the bad guys up!#We'll add a throwaway line abt how law enforcement are among the most likely to be serial killers#And we'll have one of our FBI agents be framed for murder#but dont worry hes still one of the good guys. He works for the fbi how could he not be?!#Im oversimplifying things ofc. the characters are portrayed as flawed human beings and thus the bureau is shown to make mistakes#But as of right now the show had not explored the systemic issues w/ law enforcement#I hope this will change bc i think that would elevate the story so much#And from where I'm at in the story there's definitely a way for the story to move forward with this perspective (mostly with will's arc)#But this is american network television so. i have my doubts#Regardless it is super interesting to analyze this show (if you could not tell by my tag essay that barely scratches the surface)#lots to chew on for sure#<- im sorry i couldnt resist#hannibal
