I've been going back and forth with two asshole customers all week with the names Chris and Leon and I have to find the humor in that otherwise I WILL lose my fucking mind.
#leon is the bane of my existence bc i deal with him weekly#be he refuses to fuck off and leave me alone#he EFFORTLESSLY takes a bad day and makes it worse#once he replied to the same email thread EIGHT TIMES in a TWO HOUR SPAN to get my attention#men named leon are ruining my life#fictional or otherwise#chris most-likely has stolen merchandise and had the audacity to threaten me when i followed procedure#so we're not doing business with him anymore <3#emilee talks

hey sorry I was scrolling through the crane wives tags on tumblr and saw that post that you then reblogged about the seven potential new songs. I don't have any crane wives enjoyer friends so I'm leaving my thoughts with you instead...
before the pandemic happened they were talking about songs like nobody, volta, high horse etc (basically all the songs that are currently released as singles) all being on their next album, and they seemed very sure of it in some recordings I've seen
unfortunately then the pandemic happened and the new album never got finished :/ but I wonder if they're still holding true to that original plan, at least somewhat
on one hand I think getting the non-live versions of some of the singles would be hype. it would mean they'd get to play around more with arrangements, extra instruments and various sounds
on the other hand it'd also mean we get less new music which I would be ok with but admittedly would be *mildly* disappointed
or maybe they could just do another set of sister albums like they did with coyote stories and foxlore lmao
idk just some thoughts that I've been thinkin'

okay so first off yes sister albums would be ideal for maximum crane wives music. that would also be so funny to pull when no one expects it
i do have some bad news. i went to their april 4th concert, and before playing Nobody, they said "We're releasing an album in the fall. [crowd screamed] This next song won't be on it. But- yeah, I know. I didn't want to set expectations in case. Yeah... We are intro-ing it like it will be on the album. Sorry to disappoint you. But there will be, like, brand new music, which is good."
however! Nobody was one of the songs that got a Dogtown recording. you mentioned Volta and High Horse, but while Volta did, High Horse never got that kind of recording. others like Daydreamer, Here I Am, Hollow Moon, Taking Turns, Drown You Out, Empty Page and Sowing Seeds didn't either. it could be that some of those will show up on the album
still, i think it's going to be the seven we know about (Arcturus Beaming, Bitter Medicine, Mad Dog, More Time, Say It, Scars, and The Well) plus maybe five more secret songs (their albums are usually twelve). if Mad Dog and More Time don't make it i'll be quietly devastated, but the others are definitely on the album.
or maybe they will release a thirty-song album with every song they've written since 2016. we can only hope

Outgrown…(miles morales x reader)
Miles and Y/n always walked hand and hand growing up. They were best friends…secretly in love…but then came in Gwen.
They fell into arguments frequently..
“Y/n you don’t get it! God! I just wish she was here all the time!”
Silence stayed between the two. Tears slipped from Y/n ‘s eyes.
Rio and Jeff heard everything miles said and how much Y/n just tried to remain calm and comfort him. They didn’t understand about what or why but they assumed he was just missing a girl Y/n couldn’t be.
“ok..ok you’re right I’m not her…and I don’t get it..I’m so sorry I can’t be her or won’t ever be her.”
Sorry.
that was all Y/n ever knew to say. The girl was so good at overthinking with her heart. Too needy for her own good…Miles knew that and he didn’t have to say it for Y/n to feel it.
“yea..so..just ugh just realize it. you don’t understand what I’m going through ! I just wish you got that.”
“I do..i do. Please stop. I’m just trying to comfort you. Remember that I was always here before Gwen and after Gwen. It was always me miles.”
“Well…I’m sorry but I just don’t want your comfort: Whatever you’ve got to say..it won’t make me feel better.”
Y/n loved Miles but he never accepted her affection or friendship anymore…they were outgrowing each other and it physically hurt her heart.
Whenever she hung out with him she shouldn’t have to feel this way…she felt horrible and felt like everything was a competition between her and Gwen. He compared them all the time now. This wasn’t how it was supposed to feel…not when they spent what? Their whole life together.
“ok..that’s ok..I have to go, goodnight Miles.”
that’s all Y/n could settle on saying goodnight and go.
Y/n opened the door to both parents listening in the living room. She quickly dried her tears before they fell.
“oh honey…”
Rio rushed up to Y/n hugging her as she shed tears on her shoulder.
Jeff spoke softly and tried lighting up the mood for the young girl.
“It’s ok! We’ll get him to come back to you! You’re our favorite Y/n. He’s just not thinking straight, I’ll knock his senses straight!”
“oh…it’s ok Mr.Mórales. It’s just the way he feels and that’s fine. I’ll be just fine, I won’t be around for awhile..I wish the best for you two. I love you guys!”
Y/n gave both parents the sweetest hug before letting go and walking out the door.
That was the last time the family and her spoke.
Miles thought about all of it for the next month. He couldn’t feel anymore guilty, now that Y/n made it clear she didn’t want to talk anymore…little did he know the sweet girl couldn’t bother to open his texts cause all she kept on hearing her as his voice yelling at her repeatedly
Miles: Y/n
Miles: I’m sorry
Read 11:09 p.m.
Miles: I know you opened my text
Miles: you know i didn’t mean it
Delivered
this wasn’t the first time Miles reminded Y/n she no longer had much importance to him..she couldn’t bare forgiving him again only to get hurt.
Y/n was precious to Miles, but she no longer compared to Gwen and he was too blind and upset to realize..she’s exactly what he needed. The girl who he grew up with knew everything about him, knew how to hold him down, and love him the way he was supposed to…for the longest Y/n was his breath of fresh air.
In many ways it was because Y/n never had powers like him..that’s the biggest thing she didn’t have that Gwen did. But was it really that beneficial? Y/n would pull him back to a normal life…to reality.
Miles kept Y/n in his orbit, rather she realized it or not. He smiled every time he saw her. Even though he knew he hurt her, he loved her from a far. All Miles needed was for Y/n to shut him out and not talk to him, leaving him in the dust..that last month of no contact with her broke him. That’s when he realized he could complain about missing Gwen but he wouldn’t actually do anything about it..not like the way he would with Y/n. She was where his heart resides.
Y/n always worked late to help her mother keep food on the table and her siblings shoes well kept. So, Miles followed her when she did her walks home…he could see the stress she was going through, how desperately she needed a way out.
When Rio visited the corner store Y/n worked at she never failed to mention Miles
“Ay Mija he misses you! I miss you! You were the brains behind all his projects..now that boy can barley think.”
The sweet girl smiled and respected Rio for her support always, but it hurt her hearing about him. By the end of the day Y/n’s body was so sore and her mind was fried..Miles wasn’t there, so she had more times for shifts. Y/n made sure she was going to graduate valedictorian, top of her class. Show her younger brother and sister that they can do it too…she’d set a higher curb. Her mother couldn’t be any prouder.
The hard work and sweat is what seemingly caught Miles attention. Y/n knew what she wanted and she was going to go for it.
That, was something Y/n had that Gwen didn’t. His best friend always remained humble and kind to everyone. Never once called his parents out there name…never once raised her voice unless she was really frustrated. Truth was he never heard her yell so..he would never know. Y/n never once betrayed him or turned her back to him, not like the way Gwen did. Of course he forgave her..but when you mess up as bad as he did..do you deserve forgiveness?
After awhile of missing her, needing her. He’d figure he would follow her example. Go for what he wanted, go for the idea he constantly pushed away… and so he knocked on the door of her apartment hoping it’d be her.
“Lita! Ve a bañarte y de ahí vas a tu cuarto and I’ll be there.”
Miles could hear her sternly mother voice and hear chairs shift. Then there was a little girls voice..Lita’s the exact copy and paste of younger Y/n.
“Why did he yell at me? I hate him!”
“I’m sorry Lita! I was just upset!
His confidence went down the drain immediately hearing the little sister yell and the silence the brother got from his response. It’s obviously wasn’t the same argument and situation but it was frustrating because all he wanted was to take back the girl he took for granted.
Miles waited out the door with roses knocking one more time to get Y/n’s attention. When chains from locks were coming undone and the door finally creaked open, Y/n was taken by surprise…

i just wrote this up because i needed something to do with this song, it been stuck in my head! nothing too serious :)! the whole thing Lita said and her older brothers response was supposed to be a cute parallel of y/n being mad at miles for yelling and miles apologizing

Need to know your thoughts on Cynthia putting on that jacket when they get home from the dance. Cause I have a couple theories which both might be false.
1. The jacket is their father’s jacket and Cynthia needed some type of love so put the jacket on for comfort.
2. The jacket could be what Cynthia wanted to wear to the dance…

Hooo boy I am so glad someone asked me specifically about this, because I am actually very qualified to talk about it!!!
If you don't know me; Hi, I'm Levi, I am a theatre student, I'm currently working toward a degree in costume design and technology, and I have Big Opinions on clothing. Before I actually start talking about said opinions, let me first give a quick rundown on Costumes 101. Disclaimer: my education has been largely in the realm of stage production, but in Costume Land there is a very large overlap between stage and screen, with the main differences being on the technical side, which I will get more into later. That said, given the genre and tone of this show, my stage knowledge will apply.
And a word of warning: this anon has released a beast and this is going to be a long post, therefore I am putting my analysis under the cut. Also, apologies to those I tag, just want to make sure images and gifs get their proper credit.
Now, first and foremost, the purpose of costume on both screen and stage is to give insight into each character and passively tell a story. Therefore, nothing is coincidence and everything is intentional. Color, silhouette, piece, and style are all meticulously selected to bring a character to life and tell the audience who they are.
Example: In the live yesterday, Tricia Fukuhara mentioned requesting a beret she saw in the costume shop for Nancy, and while they did end up putting Nancy in several hats, she was told berets specifically were reserved for another character, Lydia. We do actually see another thespian with a beret, Alice (who IMDb tells me is played by Emilee Nimetz), which has... interesting implications, but that's for another post.
So let's see what we're working with here.

The first thing I notice is fairly obvious: this coat doesn't fit. That shoulder seam should be sitting right on the ball of their shoulder (think top of the shoulder cap); it's nearly halfway down their upper arm. Think it looks long here? Even when they're standing, it hits about mid-thigh. Not to mention that the sleeves themselves are baggy and way too long. They are swimming in this coat.
What does this mean? This coat isn't Cynthia's.
One could argue that it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility that Cynthia would own an ill-fitting coat; given the time period, I imagine it would be hard for a girl to find men's clothing in her size. Except, for the most part, Cynthia's masc clothing does fit.

Cynthia clearly has no problem finding men's clothing that fits. That said, there are technical reasons behind why a garment must fit beyond story-telling. Namely: actors' safety.
Out of any single one of Cynthia's looks, I would argue that this monstrosity:

would be the most likely candidate for ill-fitting garment, character-wise. Everything we know about Cynthia suggests that they aren't the type of person to buy a dress they will likely only wear once (i.e., they are poor: single-parent home, always hungry, excitement over free food (Buddy's campaign candy), and it appears that they live in an apartment).
All this to say, it would make sense for this dress in particular to not fit, and yet, it does. Why? There's a dance scene. While the hand jive itself is not a particularly intensive dance move, Ari is standing on tables, climbing on cars, jumping, crouching, all manner of things that would be dangerous to do in a garment that was too big.
(Side note: I've seen quite a few people suggest that this is an old dress or possibly a hand-me-down from somewhere, or if anything, purchased second-hand. I have reason to believe it's not, but again, that's another post).
Of course, Ari, and by extension, Cynthia, isn't doing anything in the Coat Scene (tm) that would endanger them by wearing something too big. Even still, given their previous wardrobe, it's out of place. And like I said before, nothing is coincidence and everything is intentional. And why is it significant that the coat is too big? Because nothing else that Cynthia wears is.
Now, all this was a very long-winded way to say that this is Papa Zdunowski's coat. It's clearly not Cynthia's, and their dad is the only other person they live with. So yes, dearest Anon, your theory is most definitely correct.
Cynthia had just had probably one of the worst nights in their young life. Their friend group has fallen apart, they've messed up big time with their oldest friend, Richie has been arrested, and they're being forced to confront that they are queer. They come home to an empty house, either literally (dad's still at the shop and mom hasn't been there in a long time) or figuratively (dad's asleep, and mom hasn't been there in a long time). Either way, it's not like they can really talk to anyone about what's been going on with them. But they desperately need comfort. So what do they do?
They wear their father's coat like a hug and get drunk on the couch.

highlights from my crane wives concert last night (not all of this is in order of when it happened):
when dan came out to introduce anna moss, he had to lean down a RIDICULOUS AMOUNT to talk into her mic
anna moss was an incredible beatboxer, and had a repeater/looper pedal to harmonize with herself. truly doing the most as a one-woman performance. also there was a song about being a big dick it was very fun
right before the crane wives' first song, someone passed up bracelets for the band, and at least emilee and kate wore them for the whole set! <3
after talking about how this is the first time they've played to a real audience in philly, someone in the crowd called up something about fandoms i didn't fully hear? and then emilee said "i used to be a tumblr girl" and dan replied "used to?"
my friend complimented emilee's water bottle that has "hydrate or diedrate" written on it, and she replied "i've been informed this is a jug."
listen i know this is par the course for concerts but you havent lived until you've screamed "THE DEVIL'S AFTER THE BOTH OF US" with a crowd of 500 people. the devil is after all of us, crowd and band alike
just. scream-singing the queen of nothing and tongues & teeth and curses and the moon will sing and the hand that feeds there is something so so important about that. these songs that are about the hardships of human existence and all of us are singing about it together. i love the art of live performance
stage banter about. the basement being hot. "e: it's so warm in here" "k: are you apologizing for.. the heat?" "e: i guess?" "(someone in the crowd) you guys are on fire!"
when we all chanted for one more song, emilee's sweet little "i guess can't leave, is it okay if we play a few more?"
their final song was "how to rest," and we all put our phone flashlights on, and kate was astonished? in awe? overwhelmed with emotions and stopped singing for a moment
overall, a very fun experience :) would love to see them again

It was time for the first of the two camping trips. This group would include Orlando, Arati and Omar. Arati and Emilee talked for a bit and it didn't take long for Arati to throw a flirt out (which Emilee was receptive to). Omar toasted some marshmallows while Dodo took over the grill (Arati supervised). While they ate, Omar got a little flirty as well and there was a bit of an exchange between he and Emilee. Emilee made the first move with Orlando, trying to give him a compliment. He was not having it. Afterwards he even lobbed a couple insults at Em. She wasn't sure what to think. They next day they spent some time in the hot tub before it was time to leave. Arati and Omar kept peppering their conversation with Emilee with flirts. Orlando called Em's mother a llama.

setting: several days after the end of the reach's wedding ceremonies. the royal courts of westeros still remain, though trouble breeds in the vale, and lick their wounds and hangovers from days of celebration. highgarden is busy as some courts begin to make preparations for long journeys ahead.

he has, somehow, managed to find a quiet moment to himself. his head has finally stopped throbbing after he spoke with the stark king for long hours into the morning, still awake from the wedding festivities below. owen seemed a good man. a true man -- and they had agreed the future of their kingdoms would be better together than separate. at least, in some things. in trade. the might of the trident would soon be a rip current, strong and steadfast.
and so, he wants to celebrate. he has vanished to some remote corner of some garden he has walked a million times, from youth to manhood, and found himself settled beneath the shade of a great weeping tree. a less maintained section of the garden, an old courtyard looped in hedged rose bushes, and private… hard to find, unless you'd been followed.
he holds a thin roll between his lips, and there is a spark of flint -- a deep breath and cloud of smoke. and he sighs -- because his shoulder drops, just slightly. and the roses are sweet and song birds are bright, but he wishes he'd brought his lute so that he could join them. lucrezia and omer -- finally -- wed. cedric just after, his sisters soon to be in some sort of peace again, a hand who will not betray him. there is good in the bad again. and he leand down to take another hit, inhaling, his mind finally --

casimir is on his feet in an instant, scrambling to toss the roll away. his lungs burn, and he coughs, startled. what a sight it was, a king all alone, smoking stink. and he starts to straighten, an attempt at an apology on his lips, before eyes catch on strawberry blonde hair, and the air wooshes out of his chest. "fuck! what the seven hells are you doing, iona?"
he had not seen her since the council meeting, where he had stripped her of her position of ambassador. had not gotten a word in to talk of emilee's betrayal. he had not been avoiding her -- there hadn't been time, hadn't been time to sit down and speak. but it seemed that way. he knew it did -- like her little brother was trying to escape the wrath of an elder sister.
maybe a part of him was. he hadn't even yet told her of his conversation with owen stark.
casimir rights himself, reaching slightly for the sword at his side -- a joking gesture that seems to hold the slightest bit of truth. "before you try anythin', i'm armed. and don't go throwin' shite, either." he swallows, clearing his throat. maybe more than slight truth. "clearly, there are things we need to…" he trails off. talk about? yell about? what would she do? it wasn't like with elyse, or mellara. iona was the eldest, now -- but she'd always been his big sister, and he'd… he'd hurt her. he knew.

YES UGH. I generally have a love-hate relationship with most of my fics/wips, but there are some that have been on the back-burner for YEARS.
This one about Kieran from Red Dead Redemption 2 is something I want to one day finish, but it's literally just been sitting collecting dust and I feel bad. I want to do more with it.

II. BIOGRAPHY
Iona is the first true-born child of the late Grover with his wife, Edma. Grover had already birthed a bastard, Cian, when Iona was born. After Iona's birth, four siblings followed: Emilee, Casimir, and the twins, Mellara and _____.
The princess grew up with an awareness of her father's abusive nature, oftentimes stepping forth to shield her siblings from Grover's cruelty and manipulative ways. Iona was never physically abused by her father, but her reserved nature and tendency to be self-critical certainly come from Grover's barbed words during her childhood.
For most of her teenage years, Iona was a bit of a shadow, a quiet figure who simply behaved like a proper princess. Cian had already come into the picture by then, and Grover had stated his wishes of having him legitimized, turning him into his rightful heir. Iona never felt robbed, despite being the first true-born Tully, and instead formed a close friendship with her half-brother. Cian was an encouraging figure, someone who supported her and believed in her potential. Iona had begun to study more about politics and diplomacy, and Cian's encouragement only bolstered her wishes to play a more active role within her realm, eventually becoming an ambassador of the Riverlands.
Her betrothal to Lord Harold Westerling was arranged in early 131 AC and she married him later that year. What began as a fairly civil marriage began to deteriorate as any attempts to have children failed. Her husband, who’d wished for a large family, was quick to grow upset and retaliate against her. (tw: abuse) Her husband didn’t shy away from making it known that he’d been burdened with a barren wife and even had violent outbursts against Iona a number of times. (Note: It was actually Harold who couldn’t have children, but of course, they had no way of knowing).
Iona became a widow in 135 AC after Harold was killed during the Sack of Lannisport. With no heirs of their own, Theomore (Harold's brother) was set to become the new ruling lord of House Westerling and Iona returned to the Riverlands.
Iona continued to serve as an ambassador, aiding in diplomatic affairs, until it was voted in a small council meeting that she should step down.
Following Cian's disappearance, Iona became regent. It was until his death was confirmed that she succeeded him as Queen of the Riverlands. Her younger brother, Casimir, was believed to be dead at the time and the River lords were sworn to her. Her younger sister, Emilee Rogare (née Tully) was appointed as her Hand. It was later revealed that Emilee had betrayed her and the Riverlands in favor of the Lyseni, and Iona was forced to carry out the rightful justice against her own sister, having Emilee trialed for treason and executed.
In recent months, talk of marriage has been brought up by the council and the River lords, but Queen Iona was firm in her intention to resolve the Lyseni conflict for good before seeking to get married.
As the Lyseni conflict ended at last, Iona has made it known she will not look outside the realm for a husband, intending for the future king consort to be a Riverlander.
III. CONNECTIONS
House Tully: Iona had a tricky relationship with her father, as most Tully siblings did. She has a close relationship with her brother and sisters, wishing to keep them close in political affairs. Despite Emilee's betrayal, her siblings remain those she trusts the most.
House Blackwood: Iona has much love for her cousins. She does not support the feud they have against House Bracken, for their old history only threatens to cause tension and instability in the Riverlands.
Zakariya Mallister: Iona and the Master of Ships often clashed when she served as an ambassador during Cian's reign. However, the two of them have great respect for each other and Iona has increasingly grown to appreciate the lord's honesty, relying on him more ever since she became queen.
Ronan Bracken: The lord is her Hand and Iona trusts the man greatly. Other than her advisor, Ronan has also become a close friend.
House Westerling: Former in-laws. Iona lived with them for 4 years. Despite her declining relationship with her late husband, Iona befriended her mother-in-law and Lord Theomore, Harold’s younger brother.
House Lefford: During her time in the Westerlands, Iona grew fond of Lady Lanna Lefford and appreciated her gentle nature towards her. She holds Lanna's children in high regard and has offered her friendship to all of them.
