Imagine being alone for five centuries and then you meet this girl who is so self-assured and sweet and she wants to bake for you and listen to you and she needs your help carrying heavy bags of soil and likes to share her ideas for her gardens with you until 2 in the morning. She seems to be the only one who notices when you're late to dinner and has a secret wit that no one else has even tried to know. She's the opposite of war and dungeons and torture and everything you've been forced to acclimate to and unlike your other flirtations, she seems to reciprocate your feelings.

Summary:

Amren sat up. She set the succulent down on the table and set two fingers on the rim, giving it a shove. It slid to Elain’s bag and stopped. “A third year student stumbles in covered in soot to read beginner books on ley lines.” She repeated. “She then asks me about summoning a demon.” Amren leaned on her crossed arms, her brows wiggling in delight.

Elain’s face paled. She felt foolish, then - for being so open, for being so readable. Her fingers trailed down the page of her book. “You think I’m interested.”

Amren regarded Elain with a tilt of her head. “I know you are.” Her ring glinted in the light. Elain swallowed thickly.

“And if I were?” Elain dared.

Happy Elain Archeron Week Day 6: Fanged Beast

One of my absolute favorite theories in this fandom is that Elain will be able to traverse the murky realm, like the Mystics in HOSAB. @wingedblooms incredible mind connects details in a way most only dream of and has helped to further my excitement for Elain’s book and journey. You can find the two main theories that inspired this piece here and here.

The first time we see Elain peer across the world, she is doing so as a trembling fawn, but my hope is that, she will peer across worlds on her way to becoming a fanged beast and embrace that side of her in her own book.

In this piece, Elain has left behind Az and Bryce in Velaris, and stepped into the murky realm, only to be greeted by a waiting Apollion, mirroring Az. Apollion’s black eyes, deep and dark as the Pit in which he dwells- a telltale sign that his relaxed posture is nothing more than a trick to give a false sense of calm. But I have confidence Elain’s fangs and claws will get her back home.
