The symbolism of everything associated with Elain 🌹

_Roses
In Roman mythology, roses, known as the queen of flowers, were created by Flora, the goddess of flowers and spring. After the death of her favorite nymph, Flora transformed her into a rose. Aphrodite added beauty to it, Dionysus gave it its scent, and Ares provided it with thorns for protection. As a result, the rose became a symbol of pure beauty and rebirth.
In another tale, after the birth of Aphrodite, roses appeared as a symbol of purity and innocence when her feet touched the earth.
In the myth of Eros and Psyche, after he saved her, to celebrate their marriage, Zeus scattered roses all over the Earth as a symbol of love, beauty, and the devotion of soulmates.
_Violets
Violet derives from the Latin word "viola" and is associated with thoughts filled with love. The Greeks and Romans believed that this flower had various medicinal properties. Violets were linked to Aphrodite and were used in love potions, as well as associated with Artemis, symbolizing innocence and modesty. Additionally, violets are seen as a representation of the cycle of death and rebirth. When Hades abducted Persephone, she was picking violets.
_Jasmine and Honey
Jasmine, often referred to as the "queen of the night," means "a gift from God." It is believed to be a symbol of purity, eternal love, beauty, innocence, warmth, and good luck. Jasmine is also associated with rebirth, as it blooms at night and releases its fragrance during darkness, symbolizing the idea of finding light in the midst of darkness. Its sweet and alluring scent is considered an aphrodisiac, believed to evoke feelings of passion and desire.
Honey's scent is also often associated with Aphrodite because of its sweet, feminine, and seductive aroma.
_Amethyst:
Considered as the "stone of new beginnings," is believed to have been worn as a ring by St. Valentine and is closely associated with love. Its color symbolizes wisdom, purity, power, and nobility.
_Ivy:
It is associated with perseverance and determination, as it can climb and cling to surfaces. It represents the endless cycle of life, death, and rebirth, as it persists, regenerates, and remains green throughout the changing seasons. In both Celtic and Greek mythology, it is seen as a symbol of growth, healing, and protection.
_Fawn:
It is associated with the cyclical nature of life and represents innocence, gentleness, and purity. It can also symbolize growth and transformation.
_The sun at dawn:
In Greek mythology, dawn is associated with the goddess Aurora. She rises from a river at the start of each day, riding her chariot across the sky. She is adorned with a purple mantle of stars that unfolds behind her, and she spreads flowers as she passes, announcing the arrival of the sun. Aurora symbolizes love, beauty, healing, and new beginnings. Despite experiencing a great deal of grief, she never chooses hatefulness or revenge; instead, she prefers to spread love, colors, and wisdom. (she's Elain lol)

Elain Week Day 4: Dreamer 💐🔮🗡️
For @elainarcheronweek
In her most recent interview, Sarah described Elain as the quiet dreamer.
And in the Court of Dreams, Elain is thriving- caring for and rebuilding community gardens in Velaris, plotting/planning gardens for the Townhouse and the River House, and keeping her family and friends well fed by serving them meals and baked goods. Despite her quiet hobbies though, Elain is still willing to do whatever is necessary to aid the Night Court when she is called on to do so.

@lumachaii (on ig) is the absolutely brilliant and talented artist who captured Elain in her multiple forms as the quiet dreamer, the seer, and the kingslayer. Her work is beautiful and I am so lucky that I was able to commission her! The little details she took the time to add make me swoon: the beauty mark on her cheekbone and the little bow on her sleeve in dreamer, the flowers behind her ear and witchy accessories in seer, and that cheeky little dimple in kingslayer. 😍

Elriel Thoughts
Azriel
A man who doesn’t feel chosen. His father didn’t choose him. His stepbrothers didn’t choose him. Mor didn’t choose him. The Illyrians didn’t choose him. The Cauldron didn’t choose him (as Elain’s mate). Rhysand didn’t choose him (in the bonus chapter). And because of this, he doesn’t feel deserving of love.
A man who views the mating bond as sacred. Who fights his feelings for Elain because of it. Who wants a mate so desperately because he thinks that once he has one, he will be happy and will be able to love and be loved. Who thinks having a mate is the only way he can be deserving of love, because the Mother and the Cauldren deemed him worthy. He thinks having a mate is the solution, the key to finally being happy.
However, as we have seen with Tamlin’s parents and Rhysand parents, the mating bond isn’t always perfect. You can very well end up with someone that makes you miserable. Sometimes, the mating bond is only meant to produce the strongest offspring.
Elain
A woman who hasn’t been able to choose. Who follows what others expect of her, have chosen for her, because she doesn’t want to disappoint them. She has always done what her sister has chosen for her (no hate to Nesta). Her choice was again ripped away when Rhysand ordered Azriel to stay away from her because she has a mate. And in having this mate, another expectation is placed on her shoulders: accepting Lucien and the mating bond.
A woman who doesn’t care about the mating bond. Who thought that her love could triumph over the mating bond. Who won’t make herself fall in love with a man just because he is her mate. It means nothing!
Now imagine them together:
Elain finally getting to choose for herself, defying this new expectation for her to choose her mate, and in doing so, she begins to reclaim her freedom of choice. She gets to choose a man who will give her a small quiet life of dedication and fierce loyalty. And Azriel gets to be chosen and finally feels worthy in his life, realizes that he is worthy. Because Elain had the sacred special mating bond, Elain had a mate, but she wanted him more. She chose him.
Just imagine the rejected boy being chosen by the girl who never got to choose.

In the first third of ACOWAR, Feyre wonders why Elain and Az were not mated because she doesn't understand what determines the bond.
Since that moment however, once Rhys explains some of it, Feyre never makes mention of Az and Elain being a match again. In Silver Flames, Nesta notes that she's aware of Az's secret but does not have any thoughts on Az and Elain being together. Cassian notes Az acting a bit odd but does not make note of anything between Elain and Az.
We do have the following though.
Feyre to Elain about Lucien:
“No.” I blinked. “But he is a good male.”
“He cares for you.”
“You don’t give him the chance to even try to do so.”
We also have her mention how maybe Elain prefers getting her hands dirty after Elain receives the enchanted gloves but..... a book later she says:
"I didn't dare mention that if she had been wearing the gloves Lucien had gotten her last Solstice, nothing would have pierced them at all".
Mor's opinion on Elain and Lucien
“Stay out of it. She’s not ready, and neither is he, no matter how many presents he brings.”
“Let him live with his Band of Exiles. Let him deal with Tamlin in his own way. Let him figure out where he wants to be. Who he wants to be. The same goes with her.”
Nesta's thoughts about Elain and Lucien:
Elain, the wretch, had taken the seat between Feyre and Varian, about as far from Lucien as she could get.
Cassians thoughts about Lucien and Elain:
Cassian’s heart strained at the pain etching deep into Lucien’s face as he tried to hide his disappointment and longing.
Rhys regarding Elain / Lucien / Az
To sum it up, Rhys is not a fan of the idea of Az using Elain to get his rocks off especially when Az can't admit to what his feelings for Mor currently are. Rhys also expects Az to have a little more respect for Lucien who is currently under his roof.
I'm seeing a lot of Elucien support from the IC.

Some people on this fandom need to understand the concept of theories and what they are for. Theories are not facts. Theories are not written as the actual book. Saying elain not being present in a book and making fun of people who were excited about it is a really low blow because guess what?. The theories done by the other fandom arent right either. Elain not being there doesn’t mean gwyn is the next main. Elain not being present doesnt mean the theories were dumb. Theres plenty of theories about gwyn as well and shes not even there either. So celebrate whatever you want, but understand that nobody is winning shit except for sjm and bb, who by the way are milking this stuff and all the money you are paying by making fun of everyone and not saying a thing.

Elain Archeron/The seer 🌸

_In greek mythology seers are often given their power by divine powers, and the visions they have are considered messages from gods for a purpose.
_Mor about Elain’s Vision:
“There is a reason why Elain is seeing these things. She was right about the
other queen turning old, about the Ravens’ attack—why is she being sent this image? Why is she
hearing this queen? It must be vital. If we ignore it, perhaps we’ll deserve to fail.”
I believe the cauldron gifted Elain such a powerful ability – the literal control of the future – because it saw her heart, recognizing that she could use this power properly for the better. That's why it didn't hurt her when it lured her, and why it purred when she stabbed the king because she had done what she had to.
With all the hints about the dusk court in silver flames, and now that Bryce is in Prythian, the plot of acotar is heading towards freeing the dusk court.
_ Nesta felt that she had been brought to the prison to take the harp, the instrument in which the people of the Dusk Court were probably imprisoned :
"She had the creeping feeling she’d been brought here.
Not by the Cauldron or the Mother or the Harp. By something vaster.
Something that stretched into the stars carved all around them."
_Elain:
"Elain began praying to the Fae’s foreign gods"
_Bryce :
“You think the gods have something to do with all this?”
Again, the hair on her arms rose; the star on her chest dimmed and went
dark.... “After this spring, I can’t help but
wonder if there is something out there. Guiding all this. If there’s some
game afoot that’s … I don’t know. Bigger than anything we can grasp.”
“What do you mean?”
'......' all of us, the Vanir … we all came from elsewhere. We
were immigrants into Midgard. But what became of our home worlds? Our
home gods? Do they still pay attention to us? Remember us?”
And then she ended up in Prythian 😃
Since the whole thing is planned by divine powers, and Elain is a seer who receives visions from divine powers for specific purposes—whether guiding, as when she told them about Vassa, warning, as when she told Feyre about the twin ravens, or shaping the course of events, like when she stabbed the king of Hybern to save Nesta and Cassian and directly helping in winning the war —I believe that she also received a vision about Bryce coming to Prythian and maybe other visions about the dusk court.
_Amren to Rhys :
Do not forget that Nesta
herself—and Elain, with whatever powers she has—is here. Feyre is here.All three sisters blessed by fate and gifted with powers to match your own.
Yet, antis believe her story will be about leaving the NC and becoming an emissary. Nah, her power won't be wasted like that, and she won't leave her sisters; they are literally blessed and reunited by Fate.
_Amren :
you are immune to the influence and
power of the Trove. You might use them, yes, but they cannot be used upon you.” A glance to Elain. “Either of you.”
And since the people of the Dusk Court were imprisoned using the harp as it had been hinted :
“ I
think someone very wicked used this last.” She stared into the darkness
above. “I think they used it to … to trap their enemies and their enemies’
children into the stone itself.” Was that what had been happening to her just
now? The Harp had been pushing her into the rock, fusing her soul with it?
The only one who can deal with the power of a made object without being hurt, the only one capable of rescuing the people of the Dusk Court now, is Elain, the cauldron-made seer. Elain, who it had gifted with such powers, found her so
lovely it had wanted to give her something.
_Nesta took death, what could the cauldron have given Elain?.... Perhaps rebirth
And then we'll have the three sisters representing the circle of life: Feyre for life, Nesta for death, and Elain for rebirth.

Elain Week Day 5: Lover 🌸🦇
“I’m getting him back.”
One of my favorite theories for Elain’s book is a Sleeping Beauty retelling, but one where Elain is the one doing the saving. I am fully convinced that we will see Elain with an “I’m getting him back” line to parallel Azriel’s: “I’m getting her back,” when he went on a suicide mission into Hybern’s camp to rescue Elain in ACOWAR.
Since I wanted this to truly look like something from a fairytale, I knew that @blookillustrations was the only option, and she absolutely delivered and surpassed my expectations! Victoria was a dream to work with and everything she draws is pure magic!

Daylight Always Comes
It was another court function and she was there to basically be supportive. She hadn’t minded the last one she went to, to watch Nesta slip back into the tigress she was on the dance floor. How to have people eat out of her palm and be how she needed them.
She knew the main priority of this event was for Feyre and Rhysand to figure out who was on their side and who wasn’t. But she hadn’t understood why they invited people they already knew the sides too, but she soon learned they invited everyone, even Tamlin, as a show of good faith.
Her brown eyes gazed around the room and felt a little bit of disappointment and relief. Lucien wasn’t here, like he wasn’t at the last one. Or so she thought, she caught a sight of flaming red hair and his scent.
She was confused as to why he was going into that part of the neutral palace they had found and decided to use skills that her friends, Nuala and Cerridwen, were teaching her how to move with the shadows. Feyre at one point mentioned something about putting a bell on her after startling her a few times with how quiet she was walking.
Entering into the room she looked around, hugging the walls, but bumped into someone, turning her head she was expecting Lucien, but instead it was one of his brothers, not Eris, but another one. One she knew she shouldn’t really be around. Pulling back she headed for the door, but a blast of heat and flame surrounded it.
Keeping herself calm she turned and looked at him as he spoke, " Hm so you are my brother’s mate. You are technically of higher class than the other one, but you know you were human once “
Elain saw his sneer as he said human and she took account of things. She had promised to never be preyed on again, but he had those powers and she hadn’t brought a weapon with her. Without saying anything she went for the door, but his hand grabbed her. She felt as it started to warm, but a bright light shone behind her and her captor’s eyes widened some.
Turning she said, “Lucien…,” but then shook her head, it was Lucien it was Helion. “Lord Helion.”
Helion smiled and stepped into the room putting a hand on her elbow, “I’m glad one of Feyre’s sister’s remembers me. Speaking of the High Lady, she was just asking about you. Perhaps I should guide you back to the party?”
“That..that would be lovely.”
Helion turned a gaze to the Autumn prince that was there, "You best remember the rules of this event and remember whom you hunt.”
Helion turned and escorted Elain out, “And how did a fawn like yourself get ensnared there?”
Elian flushed a little, “I…I thought I saw Lucien and I don’t know. I guess It as a trap because I smelt his scent as well.”
She saw Helion smirk and she shook her head, “No it’s nothing like that.”
The High Lord chuckled, “Of course it isn’t.” His voice held a hint of amusement. “I do know you have a mating bond attached and out of all the autumn children he is the catch of them all and he has his mother’s passion for love itself.”
Elian tilted her head to the side, “Oh?”
Helion nodded, “Yes, his love was murdered in front of his own eyes by his brothers and father due to her low stature and I don’t know all of the details but somehow he got exiled to the spring Court and healed some what.”
She was quiet for a moment, “At least they loved each other no matter what. What was supposed to be a true match for me ended up not being a love match. He didn’t want me after being turned and Lucien’s..well you just talked about that tragedy.”
Helion paused for a moment and she noticed he looked toward the Lady of the Autumn Court and frowned for a bit. He hadn’t asked her why she had called him Luicen, but she had been convinced that she had seen Lucien’s face coming through the door, but it was Helion. She hadn’t noticed that they shared a few features.
She slowly was putting a few things together as he started talking again. Leading her through the crowd. “Love, true love, should be explored at least once in life. The other things are fun, but love that is your true match, not the one you had, that bastard is luckily no one from your court has killed him yet, but a love that makes you pure happy and shines a light on is worth taking a jump for. Taking that step you think about taking. That word you want to say but don’t.”
Elain blinked up at him, did he know she had done those things? Wanted to tell Lucien to be careful to not go and stay safe but didn’t?
She was about to ask but he continued to talk, “And I know mating bonds are new to you and there are some good ones and bad ones in our history, but the good ones can make you enhance the good in yourself like the High Lord and Lady of the Night. Or i can destroy you, but yours, I have a feeling isn’t a bad one to at least explore. No one says you can’t get to know your mate first and then lock it in.” </font> He chuckled, “Grant it I'm more of the lock it in and then accept type of man myself.”
Elain pondered what he said and bit her lower lip, “I get what you are saying and I believe he is trying. He helped get my father here. He, oh god he talked to my father to get him to come here. I don’t even know what my father thought of him.”
She sighed as she thought of the gifts that Lucien got her, the perfect gifts that she didn’t want because it wasn’t her choice. “I just don’t like how it’s already picked for me. And I’m still healing from everything and my power…”
He squeezed her arms some, “Let’s not talk freely about that. Not sure how many here are aware.”
Elain nodded, “What if you see an ending, a life ending event if you do accept it and don’t know if you can change that outcome?” her voice barely a whisper.
Helion paused their walk about the room and turned and looked at her, seeing the tears along her face before he wiped one away, “Then I think it’s more so to open up. Shadows can’t be whisked away in more shadow, only light. And it’ll help the heart.”
“Helion! Elain.” Feyre said in a little confused tone as she walked over to them.
“Lady Feyre, I found her like you asked and wanted to make sure she made it to you safe,” was all Helion said. “Let’s just say you might want to talk to a little wanna be High Lord about his family’s choice of amusement.”
Elain watched as her sister had a moment of confusion cover her eyes before some realization before linking her arm with Elain’s. “I appreciate you finding her and getting her back to me. I hope you are enjoying the party.”
“Oh much so. I am going to find your other sister and her mate. See if I can convince them to have some fun tonight.” He gave them both a wink before he turned and walked around. The demeanor changing so swiftly that she wondered if it was all High Lord’s powers to do so since she had seen Rhysand shift his own temperament with people.
“Elain are you okay?” Feyre asked her as she examined her.
Elain just nodded, her mind and heart a little lighter with some possibilities that she thought weren’t there. “I am. Do you know when Lucien will be returning?”
Feyre noted the light that was back in Elain’s face versus the lingering shadows that had been there and she walked her over to the rest of the court, asking her own questions.
