Lucien and Elain/ Rhysand and Feyre
We get a brief look into Lucien's thoughts from Feyre POV in ACOWAR and this is what they are:
In these thoughts, Lucien recognized Elain was too thin and thinks she must not be eating. He goes on to fight his mating instincts, even the ones where it's chanting that she is his. (Which is a lot different/healthier than Azriel questioning the Cauldron wondering why the third sister wasn't given to him like he's owed her because his friends are with the other two)
Who else pretty much fought their mating instincts for MONTHS and recognized their mate wasn't eating right/losing weight? Rhysand. He even brought it up to Tamlin Feyre lost weight and that he wasn't happy about it.
Mates know and recognize what is wrong with their mates. Lucien and Rhysand have both proved this... to ignore the signs is willful ignorance, imo.

Cassian strode in, a tray of food in hand, and halted when he didn’t see her on the bed. His eyes shot to the sunken pool, and she could have sworn he almost dropped the tray onto the white carpet. “I … You.”
His loss of words was enough to pull her from her thoughts, to curve the corners of her mouth upward. “Me?”
He shook his head like a wet dog. “I brought some food. I assumed you'd want dinner.”
“There’s no dining room?”
“There is, but I thought you might need to unwind.”
She surveyed him, surprised that he knew her well enough to guess that the thought of speaking to everyone again, of dressing in suitable clothes, was draining—miserable. Knew her well enough to grasp that she’d rather eat in her room and piece herself together.

Alone time is also self care, even if this scene did not ended up like that. But some also would argue spending time with Cassian could be considered some kind of self care. 😏 Thank you @wantsgmarie for creating this gorgeous art!

Nesta has been referenced more than once as a queen in the books, and perhaps this is a portent for what the future holds for her. Maybe not exactly as queen, but as ruler of the Dusk Court.
In this art, me and Luana wanted to represent Nesta as it's High Lady, holding her two swords: Cauldron made Ataraxia and Starsword/Gwydion. And we couldn't have loved more how @gessueter brought this idea to life.

The Asteri arrange bondless matings in Midgard to produce powerful offspring. The Asteri corrupted the Cauldron. ACOTAR is the only world where the Cauldron has influence. ACOTAR is the only world where we know some matings bonds can be wrong. Rhys says mating bonds may be from the Mother or the Cauldron, and might just be to produce powerful offspring. If SJM wants to make Elain and Azriel true mates she's already done all the work. It's all in canon. Elriel, Nessian, and Feysand could all have bonds from the Mother, just like in CC and TOG. Elucien could have a bond from the corrupted Cauldron. It's not that hard.
In 15,000 years.
After Danika / Baxion, Kallias / Vivianne, Feyre / Rhys, Rowan / Aelin, Bryce / Hunt, Nesta / Cassian, and so on.
In 15,000 years, ONLY the Elucien mating bond is corrupt? Those are some fucking odds, let me tell you. And damn, Elain and Lucien must be really important to be the sole recipients of such a unique plot with such far reaching implications.
It's really strange how the Asteri, who have never met Elucien and will never meet Elucien considering the ones on Midgard who are responsible for all this corruption are (spoiler) DEAD, would have gone to so much trouble.
If you're trying to claim Elain and Lucien were mated only to create the most powerful offspring than I feel pretty bad for E/riels future children since you're telling me they will just never measure up and that Az is in fact the weakest link.
It's also really strange how this same corrupt Cauldron created Elain and Nesta. Maybe it's not the bond that is corrupt but Elain herself, right? Since everything that comes from the cauldron now has the potential to be tainted I guess neither Lucien or Az should end up with a girl with that sort of questionable creation. I mean, the author did include the line about Elain having tightness on her face and Cassian suspecting she wasn't telling the truth about something. Clearly, that's SJM already "doing the work" to support Evil Elain and Az and Lucien will need to put her down together.
You know what's not hard? Understanding why some bonds are poorly matched.
You're referring to Rhys's parents, correct?
Rhys's father was cold and vicious and stole his mother away the second their bond snapped because he felt entitled to her. He also refused to ban wing clippng despite his her begging him to.
Rhys's mother was soft and fiery and beloved by many.
Elain sounds like Rhys's mother, does she not?
Cold and vicious, cold and vicious, feels entitled to a female. Gosh...that just doesn't sound like Lucien.
But it kind of does sound like someone full of an icy rage who is a far better liar than Rhys himself and knows how to perform a symphony of pain during his torture sessions. The guy who feels he should have gotten Elain as a mate for the simple fact that his brothers are with her sisters.
Elain and Az will never be true mates and let me tell you why.
Because as Elain was violated in the most horrible way possible to her character, Az was crying out for Mor.
As Elain was depressed and traumatized, Az never bothered to ask how she was doing, did not visit her for weeks after she was turned, and actually drew straws so he didn't need to stay and guard her.
After Elain lost her father, Az was relieved not to get her a Solstice gift and blushed and stared at Mor with heat and yearning.
I don't even need an Elucien mating bond to understand he is by far the better male for her.

Me knowing that some of the few times Sarah dropped clues related to her books was when she told her best friend and viewers on their live that she couldn't wait for us to pick up on the crumbs she left for Az and his bonus and those crumbs are about Gwyn.
Or when she told us Lucien had someone special and then the following year revealed Elain as his mate and then told us to expect tension before they healed together, which is exactly where we are at for them. (Tension)
It must be hard knowing the times SJM has given us some tangible clues are in favor for Elucien and Gwynriel.
Like I said, only the books matter in the end. ♥️

I love this excerpt, where she talks about how much fun she had writing Lucien and Feyre's friendly chemistry.
Lucien's character is unlimited in his potential, where she can take him.
He's snarky and sassy.
He's cunning and clever.
He can be gentle at times, like when he covered Feyre with his cloak while she slept, holding her after her nightmare, when he asked Elain if he could get her anything.
He's open with his own feelings; his frustration over Feyre's destruction of Spring, his sadness over the loss of Jesminda.
He's brave.
He's fair. He focuses on the needs of the many and not just the one.
It makes me excited for the chemistry I know she'll be writing for Elain and Lucien's book.

On Elain
You are "pro-elain" because you have a flat perception of her character that is shrouded in purity culture. You treat her like a self-insert feminine entity to wipe away a dark, tortured Azriel of his sins. The same Azriel that only lusts after her and desires her because a) she's the prettiest of the Archerons and b) he will NEVER be able to "have" her.
I'm pro-elain because I want better for her and I recognize that the IC is dogshit - they do not care about Elain or see her true potential. You know who does though? Her mate. Her equal. The person she's spiritually most alike and connected to. Another youngest sibling who is neglected by his family and the world, who has lost someone they thought was their "true love", who shares Elain's qualities of boundless kindess and tactful diplomacy. He was the ONLY one to go on a deadly mission on pure faith that Elain's visions were true. Elain, who is "loyal like a dog" (according to Nesta), deserves someone equally loyal back.
We are not the same. Miss me with that bullshit PLEASE-

Hello!
I would like to share with you my little lineart.
I've wanted to draw lineart since I was 15. On May 6, I'll be 23 years old and I finally got around to drawing it! I`m so happy now!
I haven't painted for a long time. Some work and university, then my laziness... It always got in the way😂 I'm still studying and getting the next stage of higher education, and trying to paint a little bit at a time🦉
Last year I read acotar. And it's a great feeling when there's a source of inspiration that makes you pick up a pencil again and try to do something.
I'm so happy that I was able to make a complete lineart that I like and that gives me warm feelings.
If I don't finish it because of work or my study or my lazinessssss, well, that's another small step forward anyway. I just wanted to share🌞 But I will try to finish it anyway👊🏼
