so everything in Canada* is labeled in english and french. i don't speak much french at all, but i've picked up a little more just from having everything labeled bilingually. plus there are enough similarities to latin and spanish (in written french anyhow; spoken is a whole other animal) that i can often spot cognates and such.

anyhow this is all to say i was drinking egg nog the other day and saw the french side labeled 'lait de poule' which i know any of you who are native french speakers or just better educated than i am already knew. but i know just enough french to be able to immediately clock that as, quite literally

CHICKEN MILK

and i don't think i stopped cackling over that for a good hour

*except in Quebec, where for some reason they don't have to put anything in english, which strikes me as unsporting. just list everything in french first with a crummy english translation secondary, it's only fair

For Christmas asks! Does Chrysta have a favorite Christmas meal and/or treat? Gotta know if she has preferences (like hot cocoa vs egg nog and sugar cookies vs gingerbread. Stuff like that)

OooO! That's a good question, Lav! TYSM for the ask! 😚😚

I think Chrysta's favorite treat is these little hard candy's her dad used to make and leave out for Christmas when guest came over... Course that never stopped her from sneaking a few in her little pockets.

But for a simpler answer, she loves hot cocoa! Her moms recipe has gotta be the best thing she's ever had, and she has it kept away in her summer home down in Santa Carla that she makes when she feels down and misses her mama. She also doesn't mind a sugar cookie to go with it! But she's more into making and decorating pastries and such rather than eating them.
