Again, I don't know how much longer I'll be playing Dungeons and Dragons.  Whatever the case may be, I've made another hero powered by the forces of nature and life, a firbolg ranger.  Working on this drawing got me thinking that this character could, in fact, become a character in a shorter work of fiction, perhaps as a troll or a land-spirit.  In the meantime, I'll see how people at the tables that I join respond to this ranger. Also, I really hate that I had to make a last-minute addition after posting this the first time!

hm. iarthyra's daughter whom I've been kicking around as a concept for a bit is a fey'ri, I think. she's still rather young - no more than 60 - and a low-level ranger. her existence is a carefully guarded secret and her nature even moreso. evermeet will never know she exists.

What classes the BG3 origin characters would pick if they played their own game of d&d:
Karlach: Bard. That lady wants to sing some songs and play some tunes. Her little idle dancey dance belongs to the soul of someone yearning to create a little ditty with which to inspire her friends.
Astarion: From the PHB classes, he’d absolutely pick sorcerer. Magic without studying or making deals is a draw for him. If we’re talking extra 5e content? He’s gonna be a gunslinger. A deadly ranged weapon suits him, in my opinion.
Shadowheart: I WAS going to pick druid, but ranger seems more appropriate (let me explain myself!!!). She’s messed with divine powers enough in her life, no druidic gods for her. With ranger, she can still be sneaky while speaking to the animals she loves so.
Gale: Wizard. I’m sorry but this man is a nerd (with love) and the only combat tool he believes in is the power of his brain.
Lae’zel: ….also wizard. Gale would try to oppose, of course, but she’s picking it anyways. I think she’s innately curious, and this inquisitiveness would extend to the ways of the weave (as long as the campaign is pure fiction - she’s a warrior at heart, after all). Also she abuses fireball.
Wyll: Paladin, specifically oath of crown or devotion. Knight in shining armour kinda guy, rushing in to save the day with a catchy slogan and heroic pose. He’d put justice and honour above all and wouldn’t become an oathbreaker, even if this totally ruins the campaign.

Hey bestie. Today's Halsin thoughts are how so much of his character is juxtaposition.
On a basic level, you have;
Big man is the gentle
Elf is actually big and hairy and strong
Strong powerful warrior is actually a healer, a scientist and loves research
Then you've got;
Wise Archdruid is actually not as well suited to druidic leadership as you'd think
Leader who is strong for everyone else actually doubts his own abilities
Perpetually affable man is actually deeply troubled on the inside
Powerful and talented druid doesn't have full control over his abilities (cough cough werebear)
And then you get into;
Man who seems chill about everything, even people being rude to him, is actually so strongly emotional below the surface it explodes out of him in vulnerable circumstances
Openly highly sexual and kink positive man has sexual trauma in his past
Man who doesn't seem too afraid of proposing a relationship repeatedly surprised to actually be chosen and prioritised as a partner
And also about how some of those juxtapositions are decisions Halsin has made and works for - how he 'outgrew cynicism' to remain kind, how in a world where softness or kindness seemingly rarely remain unpunished he works desperately to be both.
YEAH!! He is a lot of things at once, and he sets up a lot of character tropes only to really pick apart what those all mean!

Reading the (incomplete) Legendoja ja Lohikäärmeitä SRD is a great way to get over some of my resistance to translating RPG terms into Finnish because this rules
Cantrips being called taikakonstit (roughly, "magic knacks") is hella charming. There's a few class names where I would've liked them to work out a translation that were perhaps a bit less obviously just loans (like, with a bit of work I'm sure they could've figured out better translations for Bardi and Druidic, but I'm glad they went with Noita for Warlock), and some are funny albeit with some pedigree (Cleric is translated as Temppeliritari which is more like Templar, but it has a pedigree going as far as the Finnish translation of the red box and sells the fact that they are not just clergy but warrior priests) and like... Alignment being translated as Vakaumus ("conviction") is great

Majexatli as a Companion
[Part 1/?]
[Questions from here]
Tumblr media
Where can your Tav be recruited?
Majexatli can be recruited in Act 1. They are found on the Risen Road, by the hyenas. When approaching for the first time, a cutscene will play, in which the player sees a dire coyote eating one of the hyenas and being attacked by gnolls. The dire coyote races after the gnolls beyond the trees and out of sight, allowing the player to investigate the dead and dying hyenas on the road.
After the player begins combat with the hyenas, Majexatli will join initiative, rushing into combat to assist the players from where the dire coyote has disappeared. Once combat ends, Majexatli will introduce themselves and their tadpole will connect with the players, indicating that they too were on the Nautiloid.
Your tadpole squirms in recognition, their fragmented memories becoming your own. Flashes of verdant forests, vast grasslands, kneeling before a gathering of druidic elders, wandering overgrown paths, the title of Faithwarden. With each flash, however, an undercurrent of hunger, growing in intensity with each passing memory until it erupts into something blood-red and razor-sharp.
The Dark Urge will get a unique dialogue option here, relating to the bloodlust in Majexatli’s memories. Druids will also get a unique dialogue with an insight check where they can mentally speculate on Majexatli’s druidic background and note that Majexatli’s druidic armor is very different from most druids. Druid players will also recognize the title of Faithwarden and note the high honor of the title. Rangers can notice that their armor and clothing seem more reminiscent of a ranger than a druid. Clerics can notice their lack of a holy or druidic symbol.
Majexatli will offer their assistance to the player, saying that they are an accomplished druid and alchemist and that they can help navigate the area.
If allowed, Majexatli will either join the player's active party if there’s room, or be told to head to the player’s camp.
Does your Tav have any comments or advice when you recruit other companions?
I can't imagine Majexatli being recruited before some of the origin companions, but I've included everyone anyways for the fun of it.
About Wyll: The Blade of Frontiers... I haven't actually heard of him, I'm afraid. He seems a good man, though, and rather charming...
About Karlach: It's nice to have another tiefling in camp. I imagine she's one hell of a fighter, too, anyone who's lived in the hells has to be.
About Astarion: Hm. I'd keep an eye on the pale one.
About Shadowheart: If I've learned anything during my years, it's that you should always have a healer with you, regardless of whatever they have going on. Shadowheart will be important if we want to stay alive.
About Lae'zel: Lae'zel is quite the warrior, it's wise to have her around. I don't know much about her people, but if she says she knows the cure for our parasites, I'm willing to follow her lead.
About Gale: Stranger as it is, I've never met a wizard. Gale seems quite knowledgeable. He's kind of everything I imagined a wizard would be like, if I'm honest. Very... wizardly.
About Halsin: (sighs) I suppose it's good for Halsin to finally join us, given how long he's been in our camp.
About Minthara: I think it's good to have Minthara with us, as long as she stays on our side that is. I might not agree with everything she says, but she's quite impressive in battle.
About Jaheira: Hm. Another druid.
What sort of general actions raise or lower their approval?
Raise approval: helping people in need, killing people who are abusing power/authority, respecting nature, some violence, survival skills (foraging, gathering plants, gathering loot from killed beasts) being kind to children
Lower approval: senseless cruelty, delighting in the suffering of others, expressing disgust for monsters, abusing authority/power, taking advantage of innocent people, neutrality, maintaining balance or status quo

The swamp of the forgotten
Since the creation of the all-powerful, the world has been ruled by several species of creature. Among these races, there are several categories: the Elves. The Elves themselves have been separated into several peoples over the centuries. The Grey Elves, rejected by all sides and living on the bangs of the human race, have become primitive. Living off little and close to nature, their existence remains discreet and mysterious. Nevertheless, they are formidable warriors and practice druidic magic.

Here's a 50x50 plot for download. I needed to create a special world for this race, which was inspired by a French writer by the name of Fetjaine (this author influenced my adolescence). Unfortunately, I couldn't find a construction CC to suit my imagination. So I converted 4 objects from a 3D modeling site and incorporated them into my terrain (It's purely aesthetic!). You can find them as a detached link if you're interested. However, they are converted on an "Eco Lifestyle" basis.
For those who know me, I'm a fan of fantasy. So I made the terrain mystical with birch trees with shimmering leaves and red flowers (I know, I'm a bit perched 😅) but it's a change from the swamps we know. I'd like to thank the creators of CC for allowing me to build this atypical world. You'll find a non-exhaustive list of creators' names here, as well as my "Tray" folder. It's also perfect for those who want a touch of fantasy and survivalism (Sims live in huts). I hope you enjoy the game, and don't hesitate to share your screenshots with me!

I've been thinking on it and I'm curious so I have a fun little ask game - if you were in the one piece universe, what would your dream be? As outlandish and ambitious as you like, Lord knows one piece characters have no sense of subtlety or self preservation, why should we?
For reference, I think mine would be (and I really can't think of a way to avoid the euphemisms here) to be the best rider - that is to ride every single animal as a steed, even if I had to rodeo / break in the sea beasts. (I used to help break in horses when my family used to sell them). A sub category of this dream would be to find the best steed most suited to my needs.
Suicidal, I know.
What would yours be?
What's Your Dream
Tumblr media
(Wow, got me having a lil spiralling existential crisis over here)
Your One-Piece dream sounds spectacular!! A druidic, empathetic beast-master would be such an incredible ability to have. There are so many beautiful creatures in the OP world, what a beautiful dream to tame them all.
Mix that in with some Avatar: the last Airbender "water-bending", my goodness; what a delightful combo that would be!!
Tumblr media
Personally, I'm a bard at heart. I have been playing music for over 20 years, and I feel like I'd have to do something with it. I'd want to serenade the on the high seas, play a single gig at Baratie, woo the warriors with my warcry, splitting bow-hairs with my violin as I do. I'd love duel Brook with The Devil Went Down to Georgia, that's for sure. Or perhaps Bach's Double Violin Concerto or Vivaldi's Winter.
But I'm more than just that. I have done so much with my life, and I'd want to use every single bit of my accumulation of knowledge and skills in some way. I've worked in so many industries: entertaining through music, horticulture (specialising in viticulture and winemaking), a teaching degree, circus skills and gymnastics, dance, judo and jujutsu, hair-dressing certificates and makeup work, disability support services, working in tourism in cellar doors - selling wine and sampling it to ensure its quality. I'm also the ever present "mum-friend," rallying the troops and fighting battles for my friends through unwavering support and omnipresent, unconditional love.
Truthfully, if given the opportunity and means: my dream would be to leave behind a legacy of joy - it wouldn't matter what I did, as long as people enjoyed the time they spent with me. Very cliché answer, I know. I am just a snail.
I absolutely know what I wouldn't want. I would not be able to survive without swimming. I love swimming. Lazy beach swimming days, snorkelling and witnessing the wonder below the waves. No devil-fruits for this snail. No way.
So, to sum up all that nonsense, I'd probably end up working for The Clown.
"The greatest thing you'll ever learn, is just to love: and be loved in return."

🎨♀Herstory+Celtic throwback♀🎨 -  Graphite lineart and watercolour painting of the Scottish warrior-trainer Scáthach from Celtic myth for the 2014 FWW Stock Challenge on DeviantArt. I quite like how this painting turned out 😃 ! . . 🎨Media: Watercolours over graphite drawing . 🍀Other references: DeviantArt stock pic for the main pose, photographs of stones and Celtic swords and designs, self-picture for the skirt movement.
I wanted to draw a Celtic warrior-woman from Irish myth, so here is how I imagine Scáthach of Alba, a formidable warrior-woman with druidic skills who trained warriors in her renowned academy in the island of Skye in Alba (Scotland). She trained a lot of famous heroes, Cúchulainn among them. Her sister, Aoife, was also a great warrior-woman, even greater than herself. . .  "If Cúchulainn would go to Scathach, the woman-warrior that lived in the east of Alban, his skill would be more wonderful still, for he could not have perfect knowledge of the feats of a warrior without that." (Lady Gregory's Cúchulainn of Muirthemne).
I wrote Scáthach's name and the names of some other famous warrior-women in Irish myth in the stones using the Celtic tree Ogham alphabet: The left stone includes the names of Nessa, Conchubar's mother, and queen Medb. The stone on the right has "Scáthach banlaoch" (Warrior-woman Scáthach), plus Ogarmach, the invader daughter of the King of Greece, and Macha. . I depicted Scáthach with woad skin-paint, flowing loose hair and a checked sleeveless, ankle-length dress. Although the Celts in Gaul, seemed to favour trousers when fighting, there is evidence that the Insular Celts often preferred dresses and short/long tunics to pants. The warrior-women of this time (c. 1st Century BC) are often described in the mythology as wearing long dresses and cloaks, loose hair, a great number of ornaments, and little to no armour. The same goes for the men (with short/long tunics instead of dresses), as Celts didn't seem to be great fans of wearing armour, preferring to go to battle fully decked in all their (often encumbering) finery and/or with bare chest or directly fully naked xD

Hybrid Class Review: Hunter part 3
Tumblr media
(art by CariadArt on DeviantArt)
Archetypes
The hunter has a decent number of archetypes attached to it, and they do a good job of playing with the concept, playing with what abilities are granted by their special bond with their companions.
Certain hunters draw upon more specialized environments, such as the aquatic beastmaster and pelagic hunter, which draw upon the creatures of the deep both natural and supernatural, as well as the scarab stalker, which draws upon the desert and it’s denizens. Also consider the urban hunter, who master a different sort of jungle in civilization, and the treestrider, who favors the trees and jungle.
Others specialize in unusual types of companions. Plant masters cultivate and bond with a monstrous plant companion, while verminous hunters find kinship with various giant vermin.
Some, however, are defined by how their exact bond with their companion differs. Chameleon adepts are good at transforming their companions to blend in with civilization, while divine hunters bless their companion with divine energies. Meanwhile, packmasters bond with multiple companions at once, while primal companion hunters infuse their companion with transformative power, making them resemble an otherworldly being rather than a mortal beast. Additionally, totem-bonded become more beastlike with their bond, while their companion becomes smarter.
Of course, some are defined by how they work with their companions for a specific job. Colluding scoundrels are cold-hearted sorts that use their own allies and companion as bait to give them the perfect shot, for example. Meanwhile, courtly hunters mix courtly knowledge with their natural arts, while feykillers specialize in fighting against fey influences as one of the dangers of the wilds. Flood flourishers specialize in hunting in deep water, while patient ambushers do the same in most any environment. Back in civilization, roof runners move about the rooftops for noble or ignoble reasons, while the uprooter scouts venture into the blighted Tanglebriar in hopes of one day removing Treerazer from their homeland.
Finally, there is one archetype that actually forgoes having a companion altogether, instead turning the class into a mid-power druidic caster akin to a nature-themed magus, in the form of the shapeshifting and beast-summoning feral hunters,
As you can see, these archetypes cover a lot of themes and variations of the idea of a bonded warrior of nature and their companion, so you’ll not want for anything when it comes to choice with this class.
Tune in tomorrow with some more thoughts about the class!

Guillotine
(mild body horror/gore, m! Durge/Gale)
What a fight. Changelings were no joke, Gale was learning. Not that he'd been ignorant; of course not, avid reader that he was. No amount of text compared to the real thing, however.
He was providing support, hauling himself up a ladder before leaning back and firing off a few Missiles. One shapeshifter fell, battered to death. As the wizard claimed overwatch, he studied his companions, trying to determine the best time to strike. The air was heavy with apprehension, given the ambush, and soon that uneasy feeling was bolstered by the scent of freshly spilled blood.
Jaheira was like a one-woman tornado, alternating the twirl of her twin blades with expert druidic magic. Lae'zel was as fearsome as always, blood and spittle flying with every proud githyanki war cry. Between them, himself, and the terrifying power Autumn had been steadily culminating, the enemy didn't stand a chance.
"Whoo!" The warlock sighed, swiping sweat from his forehead. "Thrilling. That was a good warmup coming back into the city."
"Good except for my Harpers." Jaheira drawled, more melancholic than angry.
"Oh, right, yeah. Sorry about that," A genuine frown passed over Autumn's lips as he assessed a steaming corpse. "How did they even slip in I wonder..."
"We've seen how both incessant and creative Orin can be," Gale rolled his eyes as he clambered back down the ladder. "I'm sure she keeps a diary full of the worse tortures known to man on her person at all times."
"Hah! I should get one of those," Autumn laughed brightly. "Maybe I'll even--"
There was a sickly sound, the running of a sharp blade through flesh and bone. Of course Gale had to have been staring right at his lover as the warlock's head was promptly cut from his neck. Silver eyes, like the stars on a crisp clear night, held the wizard's gaze.
"Oh," Autumn gasped. "Oops."
Before his head even hit the floorboards, Lae'zel and Jaheira handled the final cretin. Between blades and magic, all the changelings in the building were properly dispatched, leaving behind hot blood and a shrill scream.
"AUTUMN!"
Gale ran, but strong wiry arms snatched him about the middle. In a rare moment of kindness, Lae'zel wrestled him back, ensuring the wizard didn't catch a look at his fallen beloved. Writhing, wailing, Gale did his damnedest to struggle free but he was no match for the githyanki warrior.
"O' Oakfather, Silvannus above, around, and below," Jaheira dropped to her knees, folding the warlock's cloak over his cooling body as she prayed. "Please shepard this great hero... May your light and benevolent blessing guide him..."
"Hey, whoa, I'm not dead yet!"
Everyone went utterly still, eyes wide and haunted. Autumn's body twitched, the toes of his boots scraping along the floor.
"Uhh, hullo?" Jaheira stood, head cocked as she studied her supposedly slain companion. "Even for an old elf like me, this is... Strange. Are you... Alright, Autumn?"
"Evidently not," Even relieved of his cranium, the warlock found room for sass. He was facedown which humourously muffled his voice. "I can't believe that bitch snuck up on me like that. Embarrassing," Another little flutter of movement kicked up his cape. "I'll need a hand, no pun intended. Oh, and Galey? Look away, babe, I don't want you to see this."
"How are you-- this is madness, I--" Gale spluttered. "I... I need a drink after this, I think."
"A round at the Blushing Mermaid on me," Autumn's voice became clearer as his severed body was revealed. At least Gale obeyed, turning with his back to the gore. "Once I'm righted. Lae'zel, would you just... Grab my head? Hold it straight so I don't fucking pop it on backwards. I don't know if I can make this magic happen again if we fuck up."
Lae'zel was silent. She did as she was told, seemingly numb to the scene save the slight tremor in her gaze. Carefully, she swept the hair off his inch of neck before offering the stub of his spine to the body. Autumn's majority half suddenly jerked upright, a lifeless puppet being hauled and manipulated by shadow strings. It was macabre, and probably hilarious out of context, but the scent of the Dark Urge's heady blood seeping into the floorboards was beginning to turn everyone's stomachs. It was far more intense than any other man or beast, as if it was aged or cured or condensed.
With his hands on his knees, Autumn's body hunched over. Lae'zel tenderly held his head in place and made sure to press forward once both halves of his neck connected, like pressing down on a seal to ensure it'll stick. Gasping, Autumn jolted straight, flashing a big bright smile as his fingers assessed the damage.
"There we are! Good as new!" He clapped his hands once in triumph.
"How the bloody hells did you do that?" Gale was the first to demand, twisting around to catch any last glimpses of the carnage. He watched as a needle and thread made of smoke and darkness finished sewing Autumn's head into place. They vanished once the work was done, the skin around his throat looking perfectly normal without any scarring. "I'm relieved, don't get me wrong! That was absolutely horrific. But you... Shouldn't be... You should..."
"I'd say take a deep breath," Two big warm hands settled on the wizard's shoulders, their familiar heat calming him somewhat. "But if you guys inhale any more of this shit, you might pass out. Let's get to clearer air."
"And then you'll spill your secrets?" Lae'zel watched him warily, even as the smallest smile tugged at her lips. "I should be disgusted by such acursèd dark magic and yet I can only muster up admiration. Your unwillingness to stay down goes beyond impressive into world-warping insanity."
"Hey, that's my domain, baby," Autumn flashed her a sharp-toothed grin, eyes glinting unnaturally even as the room was well lit. "Darkness, madness, bloodlust, only the funnest shit."
"I'm still reorienting but I'm on board," Jaheira held her hands up in mock surrender. "I've seen what you are capable of and, freak as you are, you continue to prove your decent nature and righteous justice. Let us get to clearer air, yes, before I vomit all over my boots."
Both women began to take the ladder upstairs, to traverse from the remnants of a bloodbath to the more civilized society that awaited overhead. As Gale set a hand on the wooden rungs, he glanced back at his boyfriend.
"... Was that the Urge or your patron?" The wizard asked, a flicker of knowing reflected in his pretty brown eyes. "Mastery of shadow isn't quite a Bhaalist attribute, eh?"
"... They've been quiet recently."
In the brief bubble of intimacy, Autumn's true feelings were willingly bared. The tension in his shoulders cramped up to his temple and the bags under his eyes were stark against his freckles.
"Oh?" Gale wasn't sure how to react or respond. Warlock patrons typically got a bad rap but that clearly wasn't the relationship before him.
"... It's foreboding. Once I inherit their power, their kingdom, they'll cease to exist," The soon-to-be demigod let out a frustrated huff. "The quieter they become, the more worried... The more worried I am that I've just heard their last words," When he met Gale's gaze, the wizard could keenly feel his despair. "They're the closest thing I've ever had to a parental figure, Gale. They've guided me, empowered me, raised me since I was 5 years old. I'm fucking 40, Gale. This is the first time I've been alone in this body for 35 fucking years."
Gale held his tongue, wanting to empathize without sounding like some self-centered asshole; perhaps now wasn't the right time to comment wow, that's how old I am.
"You won't be alone, Autumn," The wizard tried to soothe, laying a hand on his forearm. "You have me. You have my family. You have our companions, our allies, our dear friends."
"It's alright, Gale, it's beyond understanding," Autumn managed to mumble before an insistent hand attempted to raise his boyfriend's rear. "Go on up now, before you inhale too many fumes."
Reluctantly, Gale complied, glancing back once more before fully ascending. While he and the others idled outside, it took Autumn a little while longer to join them. He didn't seem better but his smile was somewhat less forced, like he'd found some little relief. Whether that was done in silent contemplation alone or aided by the sickly sweet stench of gore and death around him, Gale didn't know. If either helped, he didn't much care what had to be done.

Bells Hells C1 Class Swap AU
Basically just giving the Hells the same class as their player's Campaign 1 characters and getting a bit different approaches to the plot beats.
Orym: Oath of the Watcher Paladin/Inquisitive Rogue
Started as pure paladin. Devotion to either elemental spirits or the Wildmother because Ashari
Fighting Style is Blind Fighting because ridiculous Perception or Protection because he's always got his shield and is a guard
Oath based on Ashari directive to hold the elemental rifts
Inquisitive rogue levels are form searching for clues about the attack on Zephrah in the hunt for Will and Derrig's murder(s)
Fearne: Light Domain Cleric
This subclass has got all the fire spells, and Fearne loves to burn
Her god is probably the Moonweaver, since she has a presence in the Fey Realm and the moon does reflect light from the sun. Also, the Moonweaver is one of the trickster-type deities, so that also fits Fearne's mischievous nature
Of course, devotion to the moon goddess does add some interesting layers/twists to the whole Ruidus/Ruisduborn deal
Laudna: Circle of Spores Druid
It's the undead druid, of course Laudna gets this subclass
She probably picked up the druid class from the whole Witch of the Woods thing, and was thought weird/creepy for liking mushrooms and other dead-ish things found among the detritus of the forests surrounding Whitestone as a child
Delilah is still around, but definitely more as a haunting spirit and unwanted advisor, since there's no warlock multi-class
Imogen: Fey Wanderer Ranger (reflavor)
This subclass is closest to Imogen's mindreader/Aberrant Mind skillset, so reflavor for her Exaltant Ruidusborn status in that her mystique is from that instead of the fey
Her Preternatural Blessing would be the lightning scars/marks
The ranger class is a result of escaping from everyone in Gelvaan by going out into nature
One of her favored enemies is undead because she wants Delilah to leave Laudna alone
Favored terrain is either grassland or mountain because that's where she lived
Fighting Style is Druidic Warrior, probably learned the spells from Laudna, and keeps with Witchy Bitches
Chetney: Path of the Beast Barbarian (reflavor)
Werewolf is really a blood hunter thing, but Path of the Beast includes a level of shapeshifting (and can have origin from a lycanthrope parent), so reflavor as Chet's lycanthropy is controlled through barbarian practices of this Path
Uses a giant wood ax as main weapon rather than wood carving tools
Fresh Cut Grass: College of Creation Bard and/or Alchemist Artificer
Sam had two characters for C1: Scanlan and Tary, so I'm making this open for either or both of their classes
None of the bard subclasses are very healing oriented. But Creation has some good support features
Instrument could be himself as like a percussion instrument drumming on himself. Possibly with mechanical beeps and whistles
When they finally learn Animating Performance, it's a weird day because of how Bells Hells came together, and because FCG always tries to get a response from the animated items, like he did with with other automatons in early campaign
Alchemist artificers are the most healing oriented, so that's the reason for that subclass
It's also a fun kind of irony that an aeormaton is also a creator of magical items/constructs
Ahston: Echo Knight Fighter (modified)
Uses dual swords. Milo made jagged glass blades, sort of like obsidian blades in shape, instead of the hammer
Has either Two-weapon Fighting or Unarmed Fighting for their Fighting Style. Depends on if you want to lean into the brawler bit or not
After galaxy brain set in, they ended up manifesting echoes. But his echoes are a little weird, because their weapon is random and they have more of a galaxy coloration than a shadow
Flavors are same dual swords, canon!Ashton’s hammer, dual pistols, and a long spear/halberd. Higher levels could lead to more random weapon options
Some Events/Points of Interest
Orym picks out that Ashton's echoes die the same way the assassins did in the attack 6 years ago. Finds that to be a bit of a dead end, though, since Ashton has no clue why or how they have such a skill. He does insist on practicing fighting their echoes, though, just to get a better feel for such enemies
Dorian and FCG would bond more if FCG is a bard. Like Dorian teaches FCG a bit about playing a lute, but not a flute because FCG doesn't breathe
Fearne could pick up clues about Ruidus by communing with the Moonweaver. Or got hints before meeting everyone, but never put them together until Bells Hells started uncovering shit
Laudna could puppet Paté with those zombie mushrooms (in a bit of hand-wavy-ness since there's no actual brain in Paté) or Find Familiar him to life for a few hours at a time as a fey entity with the optional Wild Companion feature of the druid class
Chetney might be into chainsaw woodcarving, except with a huge battle ax instead of a chainsaw. If he is, he definitely tries to get FCG into this kind of carving with their buzzsaw
Ashton only personally learned how to fight with swords. Knowledge of how to use all the other weapons his echoes use just came with them. Say "thank you, galaxy brain"
Imogen can use her Telekinetic Feat to make an arrow turn. I honestly wanna say go full Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy, but that might be a bit much, if very cool
Orym's increased Charisma because that's the paladin spell casting stat means that he's better at arguing "fuck Ludinus and the Ruby Vanguard, they will build their 'better' world on a mountain of corpses"

Traversing Tel'anor: Heroes of Old Kalimdor
Tumblr media
Tel'anor, the gravesite of old Kaldorei heroes, still stands as a beacon of ancestral reverence. Many plaques here are illegible, but some have withstood the sands of time and grant us an insight to those who played important roles in the War of the Ancients, or had a lasting impact on Kaldorei culture.
Tumblr media
General Startalon:
Thaedris Feathersong tells us that Startalon was commander of the Suramar hippogryph riders during the War of the Ancients, and that Thaedris meditates near his grave for guidance. Startalon's existence implies that companionship with hippogryphs is a long-standing practice in Kaldorei culture, and these aerial units were likely extremely useful in the battle against the demons - especially when facing felbats and the like.
While Startalon possessed a legendary affinity for commanding, the actual seeds of trust sown between Kaldorei and hippogryph are likely owed to Dorendil Wildcaller below.
Tumblr media
Dorendil Wildcaller:
His plaque reads: "Nature and society called to him alike, and he was one of the first to speak with the hippogryphs. His legacy lives on in our eternal kinship with them."
The quest [Forces of Nature] speaks of a legend that "they were created by Cenarius himself as a gift for the night elves. They're wary of other races, but they're intelligent enough to recognize a friend of a friend."
Perhaps Dorendil was an ancient Druid or hunter who proved himself a worthy ally of Cenarius and the forests, and gained the trust of these mystical creatures.
Likely not intended, but if we convert his name to Darnassian "Dor" + "endil" it would mean something similar to "wild-killed/killer." This could also be a mixture between "Doren" + "diel" or "wild journey." His name could simply be "Doren" meaning "wild/feral" + a simple Kaldorei suffix like "dil."
Tumblr media
Lilyiana Meadowblade:
Her plaque reads: "Her blade was second to none, and flowed through her foes like a blade of grass dances in the wind."
She is situated across from Dorendil Wildcaller's memorial; though whether they are related in some way is unknown.
A legendary warrior, it could be that her surname was given to her in representation of her skills with a blade, rather than one passed down from family. She could have been an armswoman of legend whose blade was compared to a blade of grass poetically, or she could have possessed some mixture between melee prowess and druidic affinity if we see these words in a more literal sense.
Tumblr media
Aelynn and Banlorus Truecaller:
Their joint-plaque reads: "Brave Aelynn and noble Banlorus ruled the battlefields and courts alike. They fell as they lived, protecting our people from threats on all sides."
The wording of this plaque leads me to believe that Aelynn was likely a renowned warrior, and Banlorus was perhaps a magus, noble, or other person of high status who held some political sway in the Kaldorei Empire. Their involvement in "the courts" could be more social, Highborne courts of old, or possibly areas of law and justice.
Ultimately, the War of the Ancients claimed both of their lives.
Tumblr media
The Windstriker Family:
Their plaque reads: "Marksmen without peer, their skill with a bow was an inspiration to generations of archers. Their family developed the gauntlets the Sentinels wear, carefully articulated mail links that empower our archers to this day."
I'm unsure what these gauntlets really are, as I haven't seen mention of them in regards to the modern-day Sentinel army. Maybe these were protective arm-guards with bracers and finger-tabs that allowed for comfortable and precise shots, or maybe they were more ornamental considering that military status before the Sundering was a mere title often linked to nobility. Another possibility is that some long-forgotten archery enchantment of the Highborne was intrinsically tied to the Windstriker gauntlets, and is now lost to the ages.
They could have been a staple in Pre-Sundering Sentinel regalia, but the method of craftsmanship/spellwork either did not survive the war or was abandoned when the order was revived by Tyrande Whisperwind.
Tumblr media
Arnaera:
Perhaps the most peculiar of them all, Arnaera's plaque reads: "In service to a mythical cause, they were a shining gem to our people, giving aid where they could in assisting the populace. Alas, the hammer fell and Arnaera made a journey west. They were reborn in winter's heart, and their grand design continues."
This entry is extremely vague, and this grave lies on the outskirts of Tel'anor, down a hillside. This could be a reference to the Hammer of Khaz'goroth, or it could be a metaphor for something else entirely. The rebirth in winter's heart could be the ancient Highborne settlement of Shandaral, Winterspring, Northrend, or their soul going to Ardenweald.
What do you make of Arnaera's story?
Tumblr media
Latara Feathersong:
Latara's plaque reads: "A huntress of the Sentinels, she led the vanguard in many campaigns. Her bravery and compassion were endless."
She is the wife of Thaedris Feathersong, a Nightfallen we meet in Tel'anor who, after 10,000 years of isolation, seeks to free her spirit and reunite with her in the afterlife.
During the quest [The Final Ingredient] we retrieve her bow, which "glows with a faint white light" and "has potent magic in it" according to Thaedris. This could be a lingering blessing from Elune, materializing in a silvery bowstring.
After we kill the harpy matriarch terrorizing the graveyard, Thaedris says, "It is done. Latara, my love. I will continue to fight for you. For us."
Upon completing the questline proper he is given renewed hope, "I thank you for giving me newfound purpose. I will meet you at Shal'Aran. I think I will be needing a source of magic, after all."
