Summary: Entangled in a forced engagement with an unloving family friend, a mysterious Lord makes a legendary appearance at one of your family’s parties. However, it only takes a chance encounter for the King of Dreams to want you all for his own.

Mystical Tales

Morpheus x reader

Warning(s): None, pure and complete fluff + talks of nudity.

A/N: Sorry this is so short.

“Dark-haired Hades, ruler over the departed, father Zeus bids me bring noble Persephone forth from Erebus unto the gods, that her mother may see her with her eyes cease from her dread anger with the immortals ;...” You recited from one of your favorite books, The Homeric Hymns.

Tucking his chin on top of your head, Morpheus quietly listens to you read. Encasing his arms closer, a brand new wave of warmth surrounded your bare skin.

“Why are mortals so fascinated with made up stories?” Morpheus asks, lowering his lips to your ear.

“Because they bring a sense of wonder that normal life cannot do.” You reply with a soft smile.

Closing his arms around your chest, his gentle fingertips trace along your arms.

“Then who would I be to you?” He asks, as his teeth begin to nibble on your earlobe.

“Easily, you’d be Hades. You’re dark, you live in Palace beyond the Waking World, and The Dreaming is just as cold as the Underworld.” You explain in between small giggles.

“Then if it’s Hades, then Hades I shall be. Only for you.” Morpheus whispers, careful not to wake a now sleeping Jessaamy at the foot of the bed.

Echoes of your laughter fill his thoughts, as the distant memory replays over and over. Opening his eyes to a new day in the dark, frigid basement, a single tear trickled down the Endless’ cheek, and he remained silent evermore.
