I could've sworn I hadn't released that art before, but then I remembered this post from my main blog:

Here's the image it's based on; it's a bit old and outdated. I changed up species sizes and removed gills from the Seawings.

But it's just their name meanings! Moon's name is a diminutive variation of the Nightwings' god of telepathy, or, more literally in their language, "an echo".

Winter's name literally means "goddess's polar bear", in a similar way to the name Torbjorn ("Thor's bear"). The goddess Winter's name alludes to is the head goddess in their pantheon, something like Hylia from Legend of Zelda's lore.

The Skywings I imagine have the most straightforward names, as while most names in other dragon cultures have legacy or history appended to them (as in dragonets would be named after relatives or their names would carry some meaning relevant to their birth or appearance), and would have multiple names distinguishing kin or home (often matronyms or local-based names) Skywings name pretty straightforwardly, with only one given name they give themselves. Birds of prey for ferocity, jewels for beauty, corvids for cunning, or whatever else has significant meaning to them. Peril is unusual, as she was named by Scarlet and her name more literally means "Sun-Ghost", because she's so hot she's like a miniature sun, and pale like ghosts are. So while she is simply named, she's an unusual case, just like her canon name is.

Seawings have a polysynthetic language, which just means that entire word phrases can be written out as one word. I imagine Coral helps herself with remembering which kids are in which clutch by giving a number to them. I just picked a random number. Turtle's name means "Fifth Stone-Skip on Shoal Ripples".

Qibli's name just means "little ram", simple cute name. There are a lot of names that are just an animal.

Kinkajou's name literally means "joy". You probably know a few name meanings that are a positive quality they want to pass on to the child (or a negative quality in some cultures that want to avoid bad omens!)

today, something a little out of the ordinary: puppets!

i'd posted these dudes to patreon ages ago, but i think it's time they see the light of day over here as well. i'm a big fan of puppets and i enjoy crochet, so when i finally realized i could combine these things it was a game changer. i've made a small handful of these fellows now, but unfortunately they're hard to display and harder to photograph, so they rarely see the light of day. however i often need something to keep my hands busy while i'm in meetings or class, so i keep on crocheting them. these two are a dragon and some kind of floppy-eared monster.

i work without a pattern and with absolutely horrendous form, so they're not the prettiest pieces of crochet work out there, but that adds character

Funniest bit of the dnd movie is Xenk clearly being an NPC the DM introduced for lore and plot purposes who’s a competent fighter because of course he is, his reputation and backstory require it. But whoopsies the DM made him too powerful, the whole party likes him, and now they want him to come with to fight the BBEG which will completely and utterly fuck up the encounter balance

So instead of there being any actual plot reason he can’t join Xenk just says “I can’t. This is something only you can do.” And then walks off, never to interact with the party again because the DM just knows those little shits will find a way to use their OP creation against them
