I love how Laurent grew is hair long for Dorothy and Dorothy's smile you knew this is when her memories of him and them came back.
SPOILERS AHEAD:
In my humble opinion I feel Laurent didn't do everything he did in this movie (Great Pretender Razbliuto] for Dorothy with saving her life & creating situations to help her get her memories back just to continue not having Dorothy in his life. I'm 100% sure that this is the beginning of Laurent & Dorothy reconnecting with each other and in the process them one day finally be able to have the marriage and life they had planned together 10 years ago prior to Dorothy being shot, losing her memories, and Laurent thinking she was dead. Hence him walking up to Dorothy wearing the same cologne he wore when they were together, him growing his hair back long like it was when they were together, and him stopping to ask her directions to terminal 2 if not to get her to remember him & there relationship. Plus if Laurent had no intentions of trying to rekindle what they had then he would of just done what he did to save her life while also making sure Dorothy will forever be safe from their enemies. Once he accomplished that Laurent would of just got on a flight and left leaving Dorothy in the dark about him & their relationship. But instead he at set the finale stage of his plan together and that was to go up to her and talk to her by asking her a question in order to trigger those memories she has of him. At least that is how I interpreted this ending because it actually does leave it up to the fans imagination on how things went between Laurent and Dorothy after this meeting. But anyways those are my thoughts and personally see this as the rebeginning of Laurent x Dorothy 🥰💞
(side note I have to say I prefer Laurent with his hair longer)

Do you know that feeling of meeting up with your friend, whom you haven’t seen in years? And although you’ve been in contact through other means, there is something about seeing them in person that it is not quite the same because either you or them have changed a bit.
I have that similar feeling with the latest “Great Pretender: razbliuto.” The word in Russian means “the sentimental feeling you have about someone you once loved but no longer do.”
God knows how the two seasons of GrePre accompanied me throughout the apocalyptic years of lockdowns caused by the then unknown virus. It was also my doorway to Kuroshitsuji/Black Butler. The VA for Laurent was Junichi Suwabe, who is responsible for Undertaker, the first Kuro character I was interested in. The rest is history, as they say.
So finally I’ve seen it and although the story was solid and the animation was what I darn expected, really damn good because it is Wit Studio, the one thing that made me really excited was the brief appearances of Makoto Edamura, the voice of Lady Abby, and the blonde bastard’s short moments at the Osaka airport. I am so happy for Dorothy. This is her story, yet it made me giddy whenever the new characters mention Laurent Thierry and his band of merry men. It gives me hope for a season 3.
So will I recommend this friend of mine to you? Yes, I think you should watch it. Hands down the heist is not as elaborate as the last two seasons, but the narrative is decent and the new characters are interesting. Besides, the music is still a killer. And it made me a bit teary as soon as I heard “G.P.” playing when the credits rolled.
And no, it’s not that you don’t love your friend anymore, it is just you have to acknowledge that feeling that somehow there is a distance in between that can be repaired in nanoseconds.
So yes, do it for nostalgia’s sake. Lastly, do it for Dorothy’s as well, who is living her own life.

I think it’s weird how some of y’all say Dorothy didn’t love Laurent like I’ll give that she didn’t love him at first yeah they had friends with benefits thing but eventually when it came to the bed scene where Laurent asked her to stop conning she said she didn’t like cold places which means that she would stop conning and yeah she got shot she didn’t come back up then we seen alive with that family and she got her ring back so hopefully we get season three so they can answer some questions they left unanswered.

I Chose You
“Hey, Laurent, honey, where do you think I can put my blouses?”
Today, Dorothy and I were moving in together to a bigger space. After the feud with Y/N, surprisingly enough, Dorothy suggested the idea. She said it so possessively or maybe it was because I was looking for an easy way out, that I didn’t even question it.
“Mmh, let me make space in the cabinet over there?”
I shouldn’t think like that. An easy way out? I loved Dorothy and the heavens had blessed us with a second chance.
Yes! I loved her and everything would go back to the way it-- There, inside the cabinet, neatly rested a pair of scrunchies. They were colorful and wild and way too childish for it to be owned by neither one of us.
I heard a small crack… but maybe it was in my imagination.
“What are those?”
“Scrunchies… They’re Y/N’s”
“Oh!” Dorothy explained while clapping her hands. “I’m sure we can give it to her on a later day!” She said it with a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes. A bitter feeling I suppose.
After that, Dorothy really made herself at home.

Things had become dull after your's and Laurent's closure. I suppose it is only natural after the hurtful words were exchanged. Things had only gone south for you when your boyfriend (and replacement of Laurent) had broken up with you. He had claimed you were still in love with your ex... You hadn't denied it.
However, there was no point in crying over it. Laurent and Dorothy seemed to be in a good place. The blonde especially; if he could, you could too.
Although, a question kept circling in your mind, Why do people fall in love? When the outcome is full of pain.
The idea would just keep torturing you, therefor you decided to push it out of your mind.

Life kept moving and before you knew it, winter had arrived. As of now, Dorothy and Laurent were in California. Makoto and Abby (who decided to give it a go and date) were in Colorado surprisingly. Cynthia was in London, doing God knows what (Doing Thomas). And that leaves you. You had decided to stay in Japan and work in a small coffee shop. Life was simple and peaceful, nothing had happened.
Sure you felt lonely sometimes, but overall it was a simple content life...Unlike Laurent's life.
You, among Makoto and everyone else, thought Dorothy and Laurent were happy, or at least that was what social media portrayed. Little did you know that was far from the truth...
Anger isn't a good look on anyone, Laurent always thought so. As someone who made money by scamming others, the blonde was pretty patient and knew how to keep calm in high-risked situations, but Dorothy had struck the last nerve.
The argument grew from nowhere into a tornado. It was stupid, just like all the conversations between them.
"Clearly, this isn't working," Laurent huffed. "You've changed!"
"Well, I used to be dead!! Sorry if I no longer fit your standards!" Dorothy replied, with much more spite. "Maybe is time you take me as I AM!!"
Laurent could only stand there, frozen. He did love the woman in front of him. There was a time his love for her was like fire. Now it was just ash. That's what he felt anyway, he just didn't know how to express it.
"I do love you... kinda. Um, I guess what my brain is trying to spit up is... I would love you if you were kinder."
Now it was Dorothy's turn to be stunned. Laurent's words sank in.
"Perhaps this breakup is the only way I will rediscover who I am, the me that is purely myself." She finally said. "I guess I've always assumed I was right when I had no real reason to."
So there they stood, in opposite camps, suddenly blind to each other's good hearts and building barricades instead of bridges.
"Your dreams are so very different from mine, Dorothy. So together everything becomes muted and confusing."
"Yeah, I'll say." A more light-hearted laugh escaped Dorothy's rosy lips, finally being able to breathe. "Even though we didn't work out, I do hope we can keep planning heists?"
A glimmer of hope rested in her blue eyes as the man also laughed.
"I'm gonna go pack."
"Wait," the woman exclaimed before the blonde walked out of her life for good. "Y/n's great. You found a good one."
Laurent could only smile, remembering the childish smile that adorned your face.
"Yes, I did."

To say Y/n was stunned and taken aback was an understatement.
It had been almost a year, or maybe a little over a year since she stood in front of the blonde tall skinny guy.
It left a bittersweet taste in her mouth.
"Hey."
It took a while for Y/n to understand what was happening and if it was real or not. Maybe she had finally gone mad. However, as she started to comprehend the situation, her surprise was replaced by anger.
"Hey?! ArE You KIDDING mE right NOw?!" As if she was a cartoon, Y/n's face started to rise in color, a shade of red at the tip of her ears. Laurent could have sworn he saw smoke coming out of them.
"You don't come up to someone without seeing them for a year and being a ComplETE Bitch beFore AND then JUst say 'Hey'!!! The first THing CominG ouT of Your moUth should Be SORRY!!"
Y/n was mad, she really was, but for the most part, she was happy or maybe relieved.
"Here's the thing, Y/n, I love you. In a really, big really big pretend to like your taste in music, let you eat the last piece of chocolate cake, hold a radio over my head outside your bedroom window, unfortunate way that makes me hate you... love you."
Y/n's heart fluttered at that. The same words she once said to him.
Laurent seemed nervous, for the first time in a very long time. "If you aren't my soulmate, then I don't want one. I have this feeling that if this isn't right then I don't know what is. If I'm wrong about this I'm wrong about everything. If we aren't real then I have no reality."
"Just kiss me, you moron."

So the final question is: Why do people want to fall in love - when it can have such a short run and be so painful? -
Maybe the propagation of the species?
We need to connect with somebody?
Are we culturally preconditioned?
All the answers are great but too intellectual for me.
l think it's because, as some of you may already know ... While it does last, it feels fucking great.

3 ships: I don't find myself shipping in media as much as I used to, but here are some that won't let me go -clenches fist and cries-
Narumitsu: Phoenix Wright and Miles Edgeworth from Ace Attorney; the power these two hold over me... I haven't read fanfiction in YEARS but I read a handful of them last year and I can't get them outta my mind. These two are meant to BE, even if you looked at them in a purely platonic lens
Dorothy x Laurent: from Great Pretender; they are so tragic. ESPECIALLY WITH THE ENDING OF RAZBLIUTO... I can't get over them. They didn't get to have their time in the sun and they let each other go before they could ever get to it. No I'm not sad you are T_T
Howl and Sophie: from Howl's Moving Castle; I remember the first time watching the ghibli movie and I was just WRITHING and GROANING at their build up, it was so good!! I have the books; they're different from their movie iterations, but in the book they're funny and stupid and dramatic. Howl is way more dramatic and stupid lmfao. They're a nice, feel-good easy ship

Dorothy loved Laurent—a lot. The fact that she was willing to give up her con artistry for him, and allowed him to ‘cast his spell’ on her says that. I think while their relationship was questionable, they were clearly going towards a direction in which after being open and honest with one another, they would have been a good pair.
Dorothy was Laurent fiancé. She loved him, refused to give him or any other members up at the time of her ‘death’, and again, was willing to put everything behind just to be with Laurent.
Not only that, but Laurent also respected her enough to let her have her last con, and respected her enough to go with her.
Laurent’s adamance against Dorothy doing her job came from his genuine concern for her safety, because he clearly loves her. And her acceptance and eventual agreement to stop doing what she was doing came from her genuine love and care for him—even more solidified by the fact that she didn’t give him up.
They’re relationship was problematic, but it wasn’t one sided? At all. Dorothy loved him, a lot. To put her entire career on hold for him when she had sworn to never do it, ever.
They expressed and showed their love for one another in different ways, and while Dorothy wasn’t as vocal or expressive as Laurent, she clearly loved him.
