Platonic! Voltron x Tiktok Obsessed Reader

Just another silly headcanon I thought of, i kinda get lost in the sauce when I’m scrolling through tiktok so i was inspired to do this😍🙏 enjoy my guys xoxo💋

Let’s imagine that tiktok is still a relevant thing during this time since this show is set in the future😻

Even before leaving Earth, Reader was very obsessed with tiktok. Phone opened on the app already, you probably had like a couple hours stacked on it. It was the only thing that kept you from dying of boredom

So when leaving the planet, you were DEVASTATED to see that your phone was quite literally useless in space

No charger, no wifi, and no more silly videos to entertain you

The most you had was your camera but the battery was a major problem

The team notices your more dazed-off look during meetings and on missions, often seeing you fiddle with your phone and just swiping through all your apps

That's until you go to Pidge to see if she can work some magic which SHE IS ABLE TO DO (so slay of her tbh)

She explains that she was able to route the phones connection to the electric waves from nearby planets but you stopped listening at that point

You’re both amazed when you reboot the app to see it completely different, yet similar to what it was before, only now it was filled with many different kinds aliens and their own videos

You are able to see the different environments and types of aliens that are scattered across the universe which was super cool to you!!!!

Cue you literally recording EVERYTHING the team does, let it be missions, meetings, or even fights which starts pissing Keith off a bit (bro feels like you’re not taking the whole voltron thing seriously💀💀)

It doesn’t bother you though since now you’re able to drag Lance and Hunk to do different kinds of trends that are popular on the new app

You manage to build up a small fan base because of the videos on your account, many people loving seeing the life of a paladin of Voltron😻‼️‼️

At one point you manage to get all of the paladins and Coran to do mini “get to know the team” videos (which I imagine are like the short videos on YouTube if you know which ones I mean)

Keith thinks the readers whole tiktok account is dumb and ‘useless’ in his words but is completely in shock when you get recognized by many people when visiting new planets because of your popularity

Shiro I think might find the whole thing a bit strange but he definitely entertains your ideas and involves himself with your account. You make him feel young when you force him to do one of the trends that is popular during that time

Allura doesn’t fully understand what the app is used for and see no real use for it until she realizes that your spreading the word of Voltron around. Then she does start forcing herself into your videos, which you don’t really mind (she loves being in your videos but is really awkward💔)

Lance is the one who is with you in most of your videos, often doing dance trends or mini vlogs with you. He loves how people also know him and enjoys the popularity he has with your followers😜 Has stolen your phone just to have Lance one on ones with your followers

Hunk is another one who usually is dragged into any shenanigans you and Lance are up to, whether it’s pranking one of the paladins or teaching your followers how to cook meals (he loves the compliments people give him when they try his recipes out)

Pidge RARELY is in any of your videos, mostly because she doesn’t like having a camera shoved up her face randomly. But she sometimes does do one of your dumb videos when she’s bored and has nothing to do, which leads to you featuring her more often

Keith is a fan favorite honestly, the people love his sarcastic and brooding attitude, which he claims he doesn’t have. He doesn’t mind being in your videos but he’s most of the time standing like a wall not knowing what to do with himself💀💀 (he enjoys being included with you guys though💔)

Coran LOVES being in your videos since he feels like the main character in them! He’s actually stolen your phone multiple times just so he could post some videos of himself, he loves the attention he gets by being Voltrons secondhand man hehe

Overall, the team grew to enjoy your funny and inclusive videos, it helps them break out of the serious routine they’ve gotten used to while in space :D

okokok as someone who is starting to collect facts to write a 9fic, i have a question

you've mentioned he sounds like corpsehusband a while back, if i remember correctly

would 9 do the iconic "whaddup baby" line if asked, for shits and giggles?

// yes cause tbh that’s just how he talks normally, he talks super casual no matter who he’s talking too. only exception is his weird biblical monologues when he’s being a freak

i have all this stuff linked in the carrd and i think ive posted this before, but i compiled some nine writing info for my friends a while back and i figured it could be useful to you guys if you haven’t seen it already :3 under the cut (there’s also my list of nine mannerisms i posted a little while ago, and i posted some notes on his accent if it’s ever relevant lol)

i think part of the difficulty that comes with writing nine is due to his characteristic unpredictability. that’s why he’s so fickle to deal with, as a character and as a person. his characterization is complex. even though he’s unpredictable in behavior, there’s some things integral to his personality that can probably help figure out what he’s going to do. the hard part is, to other people, he’s an enigma.

something you’ll find in nines behavior along the line is that it’s contradictory. humans are contradictory. he doesn’t know what he wants.

he’s very nice, i can say that. as long as you’re not a target, he’s a sweetheart. he’s nice even if he’s terrorizing you, sometimes. if they know what he is, a lot of people will have a very hard time with his attitude. they seem to think it’s all a ruse, a trap, but the truth is he’s just being honest. he doesn’t care enough to be a dick. he doesn’t care about you enough to be rude to you. being mean takes energy away from him. it’s much easier for him to be politely apathetic. it’s in his nature to be kind to others, even in his own twisted way. he shows basic regards to everyone without being super enthusiastic.

part of that shows in how he treats employees in places, i think. he rarely ever causes trouble in stores, unless it happens to be a place of target practice. he always pays for things, leaves tips, he’s not very partial to stealing. that being said, he definitely gets things for free a lot of the time. he’s huge and scary.

nine is pretty chipper for someone who hates himself and his life and thinks he’s a horrible person (he is). you’ll barely ever catch him moping around. he only mopes when he’s alone and even then he doesn’t do it much, he hates moping. he’s in constant emotional (and physical) pain and he has been for so long to the point that comfort makes him uncomfortable. he’s extremely comfortable in his suffering. he pushes away things he likes, people he likes, because he’s not used to feeling that happiness, and he doesn’t want to feel that happiness.

he’s hypocritical about it too. he hates happiness and being unhappy makes him happy. sometimes he’ll make himself happy on purpose just to make himself uncomfortable. it’s a paradox.

he does take time to entertain himself sometimes, even though he hates admitting it. he usually doesn’t even realize it’s making him happy, which is why he immediately stops what he’s doing when it finally comes to him. he’ll stick around with people if he can, people that he likes watching. he likes watching how people behave, making comments about it, irritating them about it. that’s just his way of making friends. tell him about your interests, life story, favorite memories. he loves hearing about other people because it means there’s less space for him to fill up about himself.

he doesn’t like talking about himself. if asked, he’s usually pretty cryptic. he puts his whole life simply, more simple than it is. simple so you won’t ask questions. simple so he doesn’t have to think about it too hard. some people would probably see this as being humble, and he is humble, humble to the point of hatred.

he hates himself very thoroughly but that doesn’t stop him from making jokes. he’s a flirt, as everyone knows. very into teasing people about having crushes on him (which works, because they either do or they will.) people might take this as self confidence or arrogance, it’s anything but. he just likes reactions.

i think a lot of people might see him as careless. and he is, at least a little bit. he’s not careless as in sloppy, but careless as in nonchalant. he’s extremely nonchalant. some people might even find it annoying. nothing spooks him, nothing worries him, nothing excites him. nothing you know about, at least, nothing you’ll ever know about. he’s always calm and casual, and he never wipes that lazy smile off his face.

nine likes feigning things. not because he’s dishonest, but because he likes making jokes, he likes being entertaining. you’ll never really scare him, but he’ll give you a delayed gasp and hand over his heart just to irritate you. you’ll never really make him angry, but he’ll give you a sudden outburst if he thinks you need to be scared back into your place, and quickly laugh when you jump. it never seems like he’s being serious. he’s always joking, he’s always lighthearted. you’ll know when he’s being serious.

something that was a LOT more apparent when he was an older teenager, he can be protective. he’s very aware that most people are weaker than him, he’s been aware of that for a while now, and he’s learned to take advantage of that. when he was younger he was almost like a communal bodyguard. wherever he was, nine was the protector of whoever was there, and they all knew that. he used to equally see himself as a protector and a punisher, but now he’s just a punisher. at least he thinks so. now protection is somewhat of a habit. he’ll put himself between you and a stranger, block someone off with an arm, tell you to walk on the inside of him on the sidewalk, make you walk close in front of him in unfamiliar places.

i’ll always think abt s1 sibuna bc of how and why each member ended up joining like

first is nina, and yeah technically sibuna doesn’t exist until amber but i’ll get there. nina shows up to anubis house and feels extremely unwelcome, due to patricia and the tension in the house caused by patricia blaming her for joy’s disappearance. nina feels so unwelcome she starts going to school early, which is how she meets sarah on the bench outside of anubis house. this leads to her taking sarah back to the old folks’ home where she gets the locket and is instructed by sarah to find and protect the treasure.

fabian is a bit different cause you could argue that he gets involved in sibuna and the mystery cause he likes nina but i think there’s more to it as well. at the beginning of s1 we’re shown that fabian’s best friends are joy and patricia. joy has suddenly left and patricia is obsessed with being rude to nina and figuring out joy’s disappearance, so fabian is probably feeling pretty alone at that point too. combined with the obvious connections to egypt that the mystery had and he was sold.

amber is the most fascinating to me bc she on the surface she seems like the least likely to get involved but in the chain of events it makes perfect sense. mick and mara have started to hang out a lot due to mara tutoring him and amber is getting jealous and upset that mick is spending less time with her. to me it seemed like amber was worried that mick was gonna leave her for mara and she wasn’t going to have anyone. she wasn’t previously shown to be super close to anyone at anubis house besides him, so in her mind, she needed friends and fast. when she overhears nina trying to solve the second clue, she then leans over the stall to snap a pic and basically blackmail nina into telling her what’s going on lol. pretty soon after that she comes up with the sibuna name and iconic hand gesture and bam new solid friend group.

patricia had been feeling alone for basically the entire time since joy left, so she gravitated to the first person who it seemed would give her real answers, rufus. when she convinces nina to come with her to meet rufus about her locket, and they see him being taken away by victor, patricia no longer has anyone to help her. combined with the fact that witnessing this event together cleared some of the tension between patricia and nina and it was the perfect time for patricia to join sibuna.

tbh looking back on s1, alfie becoming part of sibuna seemed like more of a foregone conclusion considering how many times he became collateral damage to their shenanigans, poor dude. between getting in trouble after fabian broke the clock, to getting trapped in the cellar, to getting poisoned by them, he really had it rough lol. besides that, all throughout s1 his best friend is jerome. except jerome doesn’t always act like a good friend to alfie. constantly sabotaging his efforts to woo amber, making him pay for his help, and ditching alfie the second it looked like he had a chance with mara, by the student council arc alfie is feeling pretty abandoned by jerome. the scene where he thinks ms andrews is a snake alien and tackles her to the ground is both hilarious and relevant because it leads to the rest of sibuna deciding they truly can’t leave him in the dark anymore, and he becomes one of them.

like their bond is so strong not only because amber forced them to burn objects of value to them in a fire barrel behind the school (lol i just rlly wanted to mention that, like girl was committed) or because they were the only ones who knew about the mystery, but because they all needed each other. when each of them was at their lowest and most alone, they found a group of people like them who would stick by them and idk i just think that’s cool and wanted to rant abt it shdjdjdj

tbh in regards to the phil and sunny thing, i think it’s just phil being a british man who is over the age of 30. that’s how they all interact with close friends’ kids and nieces and nephews n stuff. plus, he’s more up north so that kind of banter is wayyy more normal and casual. speaking from experience here, but i’m way more likely to relax around a parent’s friend that makes jokes that are sometimes at my expense than someone who is just super polite. makes them feel too distant.

sunny probs isn’t british and doesn’t feel the same tho. phil isn’t being malicious and i think he just finds sunny chaotic and fun. i think he’s also just quick to treat the new eggs how he treats the other eggs, maybe forgetting that he doesn’t really know them well enough to make jokes and doesn’t think they’ll take them srsly, esp since sunny seems to confident and headstrong.

obv, if phil gets told he crossed a line, he’ll apologise 🤷 however, it’s up to tubbo or sunny to tell him he crossed a line and for them to set boundaries. phil can’t read minds sadly. we just need some good qommunication <3 (but i like conflict too so i hope it maybe isn’t solved too soon pff)

soz for the long wall of text! just wanted to give my thoughts since i’m also from north britain and qphil is one of my povs!

(sorry if I misread anything dyslexia does not like large walls of text)

I’ve been watching phil since 2020, and he was the person to get me into twitch (funfact), generally speaking I mainly watch British streamers even though they are at a bad time for me, I do understand how Phil jokes. That’s why I didn’t take Phil’s comments about Sunny stealing very seriously, I think it’s a fine line to balance sometimes he’ll say things he’s always been comfortable joking about and I do think some people are taking that too far. Phil’s humor is sarcastic, and to outright ignore that is an inappropriate reading of his character.

My issue stems from how it treats Sunny and Tubbo’s parenting in particular with more negative comments, while I think a lot of the comments to Tubbo can be ignored (i.e questioning why he’s able to have an egg, that came off as much more lighthearted). It just not within his previous characterization the level of mocking he’s done towards Tubbo about Sunny, that were I feel its a more of a built up resentment. His attitude to Sunny in particular is more noticeably negative than how he treated any egg when they were new, and more relevant Em. He has mocked Sunny’s choices, how she talks, and has spoken negatively about them without them being there. Phil is mean to Sunny, genuinely, but he is still good with the other eggs.

I do think you’re right about him being more comfortable joking with Sunny due to her personality but at the same time she really wasn’t acting overly confident with him more childish. Also I do assume he’ll apologize if he gets told off for his attitude, but at the same time I doubt that will happen because Tubbo just doesn’t do that stuff. This is something that will hopefully fixed through time, and once he learns to completely separate them from Tallulah, which considering Tallulah’s issue with Sunny right now will take awhile to fix.

Thank you for your thoughts though, It’s nice to know how other people are taking his behavior.

Ranking the Magic Knight Captains

I had fun doing my rankings for the Black Bulls and Black Clover OPs and wanted to another one. I haven’t talked much about the captains so I figured this would be a good way to do that. Obviously, these are all personal opinions. Also, there are spoilers for the manga.

11. Gueldre Poizot

Someone’s got to be at the bottom and it’s obviously this guy.

Betrays the kingdom and all the Captains already didn’t like him and make fun of him so yeah. He deserves it.

Him running around with Revchi during the Elven Invasion was kind of funny though.

10. Kaiser Granvorka

Not bad but the least interesting of the captains.

He doesn’t get a lot to do but I respect him and his mustache.

Purple Orcas have nothing going for them tbh.

9. Nozel Silva

His abilities are very impressive. Mercury Magic is a cool idea.

He was the least mean of his siblings to Noelle but that’s not saying much. I get you can’t talk about the devil that killed your mother but, like, don’t let your sister believe she was the one who killed her.

It is a little sad because it seemed like he was the closest to their mom and he’s the oldest so he probably remembers her the most.

He does grow and I respect that.

8. Fuegoleon Vermillion

I like his relationship with his siblings, but he’s also the least interesting of the three to me.

I think if he hadn’t gotten Salamander, then he would have been even less interesting.

His rationality is appreciated in contrast to a lot of other characters.

I also like when he motivates Asta and Noelle when the Eye of the Midnight Sun invades the capital.

7. William Vangeance

Okay, I was pretty mad at him for a long time after the Elven Invasion. I suspected him from the beginning and was right.

He doesn’t really take action like when he just lets Patry and Julius fight it out instead of choosing one of them and I was very pissed.

Afterwards, he does try to amend his actions and when he healed his squad after the Spade Kingdom attack on the Golden Dawn base, I forgave him.

After all that, it puts him a little above neutral though.

His magic’s pretty cool too. I like the big scale of it.

6. Jack the Ripper

Why do people rag on the Black Bulls so much when the Green Praying Mantises exist? Jack is just as irresponsible as Yami and definitely weirder.

Have you seen the way this man dresses? In general, have you seen this man?

Also, his squad is one of the least developed. We have Sekke and En and that’s it. Sekke is mostly a joke and En is only relevant for a teeny bit (I respect him though).

Back to Jack, I find him very entertaining and his magic is very interesting. He’s absolutely crazy but I get a kick out of it.

Sad when he died. He did not deserve that but went out in style

5. Charlotte Roselei

At first she doesn’t do much but then she’s mainly reduced to her crush on Yami. I think it’s funny and ship them but I feel like she doesn’t get a lot else.

I do like that part of her character is that she needs to learn to ask for help sometimes and rely on others.

Her curse and magic are very cool though. Her pulling out the red and blue roses during the Spade Kingdom Invasion is glorious.

She’s one of the only captains who interacts a lot with her squad too.

4. Mereoleona Vermillion

What a badass.

She has powerful magic but a lot of her fighting style is physical. You have to be bold to fight against magic users and choose to just punch things that come your way.

She was supposed to be the Captain of the Crimson Lion Kings and instead dipped to go live in the wilderness.

3. Dorothy Unsworth

For how little screen time she gets, I love her so much.

All the other Captains are so serious and she’s so bubbly.

Her magic is super cool and fits her very well. Pretty overpowered too.

I like that when she manifests people in her dream world, it's a version based on how she views them (Yami and Nozel).

I actually thought we weren’t going to see her in action because she was always asleep. I guess that was the result of having an elf inside you because after that she’s awake most of the time.

2. Yami Sukehiro

He’s the Captain that gets the best connection to his squad so I like that.

Members of the Black Bulls keep coming out of the woodlocks because this man keeps inviting random people to join.

Despite seeming irresponsible, he genuinely cares about his squad and pushes them to do their best. He also pushes himself to do his best.

The fact that he was a foreigner so his squad is made up of people who are outcasts like him and together they’re all not alone anymore :’)

1. Rill Boismortier

I love him very much.

I don’t know why his hair glows but I’m here for it.

His magic is very unique and it’s so fun to watch.

Youngest magic captain (before Yuno). I honestly don't know how.

I didn’t think we’d get backstory for him but we did and his relationship with Walter is amazing.

He’s doing his best and I love him for that.

Also, HIS LAUGH.

Alright party people it’s time to rate and judge these people before I get to know them again! Let’s see if my predictions are any better than last year’s, but who knows at this point tbh.

I just know she’s gonna be useless. My hopes for her are low, but hopefully she’ll be furniture and not one of the mean girls this show likes to cast. 3/10

Her vibes are immaculate and I want to be her friend. I could see her being a mastermind and power player for sure. Please for the love of god don’t disappoint me. 9/10

She gives me hardcore Rockstar vibes. Also she’s Australian??? I feel like she’s gonna be cool, but I’m slightly wary that she’ll turn into N*cole from last season. Either way she’s gonna be the “mom” of the house. 7/10

His hair annoys the fuck out of me but he’s a stay-at-home dad, so I’m conflicted. He’ll probably get roped into the popular kids alliance of the season and win a few comps, but I don’t see him being that notable. 5/10

I hate looking at him. Also he’s younger than me? I don’t like that. Put him back where he came from before he becomes Kyle 2.0. 0/10

She is definitely going to be the wise sage of the group. Hoping that she turns out to be a girlboss protecting her ladies and not the female version of T*rrance. 6/10

I don’t know. I don’t like him and I can’t explain it. He just seems like a mansplainer and I feel like he’s gonna be the fist to get into an altercation with one of the women for being smarter than him. 1/10

She gets brownie points for being a flautist (not flutist, big brother) since she’s part of my classical music community, but I’m sensing her as the token quirky lesbian who aligns with the popular kids and doesn’t have a backbone. That or the floater who freaks out when she gets put on the block. 5/10

I’m getting some good vibes from this guy. He seems pretty chill and down to earth. I feel like he’d be on the right side of the house with the other outcasts, but time will tell. 8/10

I just know he’s gonna get into a showmance with one of the girls and play her ass. He doesn’t give a shit about anyone. I can just tell. He is definitely going to be thirsted for too and it’s going to annoy me. I just know it. 2/10

I’m getting smart beauty queen vibes from her, so it could really go either way. I will give her points because I misjudged Taylor a little last season, but if she does some dumb shit I will never trust anyone again. 9/10

Yeah no. Fuck this guy. Jackson 2.0 looking ass. 0/10

Upon looking at him I was super wary but it’s cool to see some deaf representation on the show. Maybe he’ll be chill, but I don’t see him being super relevant. 4/10

I want to say she gives me good vibes but I learned my lesson after Ame*rah. I could definitely see her backstabbing someone or starting a rumor for funsies. Prove me wrong, girl. 5/10

That’s not how you fucking spell Riley. I’m ready for her to be booted off week 4 after contributing absolutely nothing to the house. 3/10

Overall I’m not sure how to feel. I definitely feel like a few people are going to be fun to follow, but the type casting is so obvious to the point where part of me hopes all of these predictions are wrong. This could easily be either really boing or refreshing and fun. Let’s see y’all.

I watched the Mark Oshiro interview and noted down the rrverse-relevant passages for y'all

(I would rec watching the vid in its entirety if you have time to kill; Mark is super charming and thoughtful, just like I remembered them from their "Mark Watches" days, and says a lot of interesting stuff abt writing and the publishing industry in general)

– Rick had the full outline ready: major arcs & themes figured out already

– there’s stuff in the outline Rick had been planning for years, he had it sitting for a while

– Rick sought Mark out specifically, then Mark was asked to “audition” by writing the first 3 chapters that would be later seen by various ppl including some of the Disney publishing ppl. Mark decided to tweak/change some stuff. Kept 90% of the outline changed a 10%. They felt they needed to figure out/visualize things that weren’t in Rick’s outline, that were left unspecified there (the way Mark talks abt it, it feels like it’s mainly worldbuilding/lore stuff they are talking abt). Mark says Becky Riordan was very helpful with this, she knows the canon deets better than Rick.

– Rick wanted Mark to write first draft bc even tho the story is Rick’s, he wanted it to be told through an authentically queer perspective, with the nuance and sensibility that he as a straight man doesn’t feel capable of understanding/conveying.

– There’s things in the final draft that Oshiro decided to leave to Rick bc they felt Rick knew the characters better

– Oshiro talks abt the reactions of the ppl who have read the quasi final drafts and how one of the Disney editors said the book was for rrverse fans “like Spiderman No Way Home was for spiderman fans”, meaning this is a book that respects the identity these characters have built through the prev books and the history they have while still managing to take them somewhere new, which is exactly what Mark was trying to accomplish, and which they say “Rick is deeply thoughtful about. He cares a lot.” – Mark wanted to give these characters their due and also (said in a lighthearted but also clearly committed & passionate manner) make the gayest Percy Jackson book ever published

– talks a bit about an upcoming horror YA book of theirs and calls it “the fist dual pov book I’ve written”. The book comes out march 2023, it seems likely Mark’s started working on this before the solangelo book so… probably means nothing re: whose pov solangelo is told from?

– Mark thinks Rick has the ability to inject levity in extremely dark moments without lowering the intensity/stakes, which is essential when writing for middle graders while still wanting to take the story to emotionally challenging places, but very few authors can do it as well and as effectively (I AGREE)

– there’s a scene in the solangelo book where Mark kinda wrote themselves into a corner bc it was too scary and they realized it might not fly for the intended readership “and then I thought of the silliest way to deflate the terror” and they are very proud of that bc they feel they captured the quintessential Riordan tone. Bc the PJO books are great and complex and telling important stories etc but quote: “they’re fucking weird as hell” too.

– Mark actually only started reading the saga in 2018. Read them all in a week and was like the Lady Gaga meme. At the time they feel like they were only missing TON (if this was 2018 they were missing TTT too so either they are misremembering the year they read them in, or that they were missing TTT too). They reread them all when TON came out, and twice again last year.

– “the best time to start reading Percy Jackson is always.”

– They know it’s cheesy but their fave char from the moment he was introduced was Nico, and there’s a big reason for it that Mark can’t talk about bc it’s stuff that is in the solangelo book. It’s plot spoilers. Mark will be free to say it when the press tour for the book starts. (This seems contradictory tbh but it is how Mark explains it)

– They like Annabeth and Grover a lot

– “My favorite surprise character that at the beginning I was like ‘ehhhhh’ and at the end I was like ‘I would die for him’ was Apollo.”

– after reading series 1 Mark was like how are there 10 more of these where can this story possibly go, and then Rick did “a thing” (no spoilers) in series 2 that made the narrative world bigger, and then he did “another thing” in series 3 that concerns the character of Apollo, “and Apollo grew on me so much”, he goes “from the most annoying character on the face of the planet who judges everyone around to ‘all of these demigods are my children and I will murder for them’, it’s just incredible to watch that whole thing happen. Which means I also love Meg, and I love Meg’s growth too”

– there’s another character too that Mark loves and feels deserved the spotlight so they put them in the new book. “We don’t talk abt them enough” (Mark’s kinda joking as they say this, tho the love feels sincere)

– Mark’s godly parent would be Hades whom they liked in the PJ books but also always liked in general and share an aesthetic with

I don’t know what it is about me when it comes to Asuka because I always see people saying she deserves better, and I don’t disagree! She does deserve better and more screen time and not be relegated to just being in cahoots with Lili and nothing else. Even Lili managed to branch out in T8.

While I agree, I also don’t find myself all too bothered by it? That isn’t to say I don’t love Asuka, I adore her tbh. She’s great, I love how brash she is, I love playing as her, I love how she truly helps people out in her own unique way. She’s great imo.

But I’m not mad/disappointed, I don’t blame Lili, and I don’t think the writers hate her. Again, they could have her involved more I agree, but I also imagine her not knowing that side of the Kazama family and I think that’s perfectly fine. We don’t know how big the family is, or if her father chose to not tell her anything for whatever reason since he doesn’t even live on Yakushima anymore (I assume the Kazama’s mainly lived there anyway).

I know I don’t roleplay as Asuka, but I’m writing her a little bit with a friend of mine on discord, and I guess because writing is easily the best way to explore things, I just shrug it off and write my own stuff for her. And regardless if she had power or not, I don’t think it makes her suddenly useless either. Her having powers is super interesting, but I think her not having them is equally interesting (and again, doesn’t make her useless in my eyes, not saying anyone says that tho of course).

Really, the only time I got mad at something was Xiao in SFxT and that’s not even made by Namco so technically doesn’t even count, especially since that was more of her portrayal rather than lack of plot relevance. It kind of makes me feel like I’m not seeing the problem properly (this is a bad habit of mine where I enjoy something or not bothered too much by something a lot of people are and think something is wrong with me so ignore me)

I have other thoughts about this stuff too but I’m on mobile and just had to ramble this out I guess, I’m sorry lol. }

Stranger Things Season 4 Volume 2 Death Predictions and Theories

🚨spoiler warning for Vol 1🚨

so apparently one of the actors (I think Millie) said something about them killing off several characters this season (which makes sense). So here are the characters I’m most concerned about:

Will Byers- the evidence seems to be stacked against him here. Aaand it makes perfect sense that Vecna would target him. My money’s definitely on Will dying (it’s possible that he’ll just get close to dying, but he’s had several brushes with death already, and yet the actors have said his saddest moment is this season).

Steve Harrington OR Nancy Wheeler- I’m wondering if one of them is going to go. Not both of them though. While it’s hard to imagine either one of them dying, that kind of makes it seem more likely. At this point I’m leaning towards Steve, but the Duffers would be pushing it, killing him off, and I have a feeling that’s too risky for the show. However, I think Eddie will probably save Nancy, so we’ll see. But when I think about the rest of the group, it’s even harder to imagine any of them dying sooo.

Jonathon Byers- To be honest, this one doesn’t seem super likely. Among other reasons, I don’t think they’d kill both Jonathon AND Will. However, he’s had an extremely reduced character this season, and he and Nancy are breaking up. It’s possible, but I’m not sure I can see this happening. Maybe he’ll sacrifice himself saving Will or something.

Dmitri Antonov- My moneys on him dying FOR SURE. His friendship with Hopper is important enough that his character probably wouldn’t simply be abandoned (should he survive). But what would happen instead? There’s no way they’d keep up with him in Russia. Would he go back with Hopper to Hawkins? Probably not, he doesn’t have a lot of relevancy there. Unless they find some other way to work him into the plot, he’s dead for sure (possibly saving Hopper on his way out of Russia?)

Eddie Munson- I absolutely love Eddie, so I hate to entertain this as much as anyone else, but it makes perfect sense that he’d die. I mean I really don’t want them to pull an Alexei again, but they’ve shown they aren’t afraid to kill off a beloved new character so we’ll see. Right now, I think he’ll die for a number of reasons. Starting with the fact that he’s seen playing guitar in the upside down. Now, at the end of Episode 7, we see Nancy go into a trance while still in the upside down. Because Eddies in his trailer already, he’ll be able to quickly run and grab his guitar, go back to the upside down, and play a song to reach Nancy. Personally, I think he’ll somehow die while saving her. It would also make sense that he would have a heroic death, since the entire season he’s been talking about how cowardly he’s been (running away and whatnot). How heartbreaking would it be if he died standing up for the first time? Also his death could prevent the need for an explanation for the murders- it could just be assumed that he did it.

Edit: Jason’s probably gonna die, I forgot about him for a second (tbh I wouldn’t be too mad about that).

Reasons I don’t think they’ll kill some other characters: Lucas and Dustin are staples in the friend group, they simply can’t die. Mike has been a central character from the beginning, as has Joyce, so it seems unlikely they’d kill either of them. Killing Hopper would make the Russia storyline redundant, and similarly, it’s hard to imagine they’d kill Max after she’s already escaped death once (I would be so pissed if they pulled a fast one and actually killed her). Argyle could die, but he hasn’t been super important to the plot so far, so it’s hard to imagine they’d cast him into the spotlight with a big death scene. And Eleven can’t die for obvious reasons.

tbh i do think changeling jack would have been a better option like. first of all i think just actually sticking to the changeling plot, rather than the antagonists being the changelings and the borg in an alliance that i guess doesn’t not make sense but ultimately brushes aside the changeling stuff at the end probably would have been better, but i also think there’s some potentially interesting stuff in there. again with the caveat that this is kind of operating off of like...not totally changing the setup but trying to do something better with the same beginning.

like ok loose concept 20 years prior to ep 1 beverly picks up this kid while she’s on a mission in the wake of the dominion war and initially doesn’t know he’s a shapeshifter or anything, just that he’s a child who needs help. he’s on her ship for a while and she gets kind of attached to him, especially when he shows an early interest in medical stuff, but at some point she gets confronted by some subset of starfleet that’s after him, and it comes out that he’s a changeling who did something bad in an attempt to escape capture by starfleet and they’re here to take him back.

and like. she’s gotten to know him, and she feels protective of this kid and she believes he was genuinely acting out of fear and possibly reacting to mistreatment, whereas their charges seem. kind of questionable? they feel like the result of paranoia in the wake of the dominion war and she doesn’t trust the people that are going to bring him in to treat him fairly, and she’s already somewhat more disillusioned with starfleet than she used to be because she’s already lost one son to starfleet ideals and is starting to regard jack as another, so that questioning really gets kicked into overdrive here on a broader scale. she makes the choice to protect this kid that she’s gotten attached to and they escape, but they have to go on the run, and that’s why she’s been off the grid for so long. she raises him, and they do their medical thing, but eventually they run into trouble and she doesn’t know where else to turn, so she reaches out to picard and tells him not to involve starfleet (both because they’re potentially compromised but also because her trust in them is still not at an all time high)

and then also since that’s dealing with the dominion war and that story belongs to ds9 i would have loved to bring back sisko (probably like. as at least a 2-3 episode arc, one of which replaces the episode w/ro laren bc i love her and all but she deserved better and we could have made the points that were made there in other ways). like. put him face to face with picard for the first time since the ds9 pilot and have them reassess each other after this time. i don’t know exactly how i’d see that dynamic playing out but i think bringing them back together to try to negotiate a threat would be super interesting AND like. i would really love to see picard going to sisko for advice about fatherhood tbh. maybe picard has read jake’s work and is familiar with the fact that they have a very close relationship so in trying to bond with jack he realizes sisko could be a really good person to learn from, even if they’ve had personal struggles in the past (and even if they’re never like Friends now). idk feels like a way to bring sisko back in and give him some closure that would have worked thematically on multiple levels.

like idk i dont have a whole plot seeing as ive been thinking about this for. not very long. but by focusing more on the changeling plot and giving it personal relevance we can focus on questioning starfleet and the federation, and how having to question these things picard has dedicated his whole life to affects his identity, but ideally to me the conflict would be one that shows the potential for positive change.

General life/school/personal updates. Under a readmore because some touchy subjects.

I finished my second term of med school on Friday!! Very pleased it’s over. I stand by what I’ve said early on- med school has a funny way of taking something you are actually interested in and turning it soooo dry and boring that you’d be happy to never see it again. Material comes at you so fast. I can keep up with what they’re asking, but I can’t deep dive into every topic or subject the way I’d like to. This makes it super boring for me.

I’m a horrible student. Like, I’m doing better than average, so I’m not a horrible student in that regard, but I’m putting forth very little effort. I think this block, I averaged maybe 3 hrs/week outside of the required class sessions. I feel like this comes across as bragging, which I don’t mean to do… talking about it at all feels like there’s now way to win. People get upset when you lie about it (eg act like you’re studying more than you really are), but they also get upset when you’re honest? Idk.

Which also, school in general… so there are focus issues happening (I was unmedicated for a while), and I’ve been having more sensory issues, too. Like needing sunglasses in class, having trouble because everybody is so loud but if I put in earplugs I can’t hear relevant material… People know I’m autistic, and they will see me use tools to accommodate myself. But they won’t actually accommodate me, outside of when I sometimes ask for lights to be turned down during some discussions or lectures (and then proceed to laugh when I visibly jolt and cover my eyes when the lights are turned back on without warning). It’s hard to tell people to turn their voices down twenty notches. It’s easier to just remove myself from the situation entirely. And tbh, I don’t know that I feel safe with my classmates in general. Not that my physical safety is ever in question (I know so many across the world are in physical danger), but that I don’t feel like I belong, that I’m respected, valued, and wanted. It’s lonely and isolating.

I’m also having some body issues as of late. I haven’t been to the gym since school started, which is mostly just because of timing issues. I’ve put on a little more weight, and while that’s not USUALLY a problem, I’m having a hard time navigating it again. When I’m in class or doing something clinical, I’m very aware that I’m being perceived. It’s not just me- it’s my body. Im seen first and foremost as a body with a gender. Im a feminine person, always identified as a woman by others, but my body is fat in a not socially accepted way. The only way to have my body be more socially accepted is to play into the femininity, which I don’t mind in and of itself, but others see femininity as a mark of womanhood rather than just being a general aesthetic… so when I play into femininity to avoid being treated as poorly, im even more gendered. If I try doing anything/dressing more masculine, it doesn’t “cancel out” into neutral. It adds- a slightly more masculine fat woman, still very far from hat “ideas.” Honestly it hasn’t been terrible just performing womanhood, but I miss the days where I was “kid in the pink jacket” and not “fat woman” with all these judgments.

So anyway, I want to start working out again because I know it’s better for my health, but I would be lying if I said I also didn’t desperately wish I had my old body back that was just feminine enough to play into it when I wanted but mostly wasn’t seen as anything major by anybody. The body I had when people just saw my ideas and mind and not a gender or a body shape. When I didn’t have to play into a gender to have my body accepted by society…

Which means that if i did start going back to the gym, my brain will start linking automatically and there is a high chance that i will be using gym not to be healthier but to influence my body which can easily devolve into exercise purging and disordered eating.

Honestly, sometimes I wonder if this is how some alcoholics feel. Any small amount of diet-y behavior, like even a sip of alcohol, can trigger relapse. But even non-dieting “diet adjacent” behaviors can do it too. Anything tangentially related could trigger it. Going back the gym, while not inherently dangerous for most people, is so heavily associated with body control, weight loss, calorie counting, exercise purging, etc, that my mind can easily jump back into ED land when I engage in it.

So… yeah. A lot to think about lately. Glad I have a couple weeks off school at least.

Cornelia died while Bisley was fighting Chronos

Julius does not find out about this until years later but when he does he’s mad about it and it is a factor in him running away from Bisley

Around the same time he discovers the limitations of his Chromatus power and also stumbles onto Claudia and Ludger and kills Claudia, but Ludger doesn’t enter his custody just yet

Ludger is. possibly. placed in Marvin’s care? until Julius hears about the Soul Bridge from Rideaux, at which point Julius decides to adopt Ludger and use his watch

According to the Scenario Book:

Cornelia dies but is otherwise irrelevant to Julius’ feelings

Julius immediately adopts Ludger for his watch, the Soul Bridge is never relevant

According to the 20th anniversary encyclopaedia:

Cornelia is sacrificed by Bisley and Julius is mad about that years later and it’s a factor in why he leaves Bisley

Julius also finds out about (supposedly) the truth of Divergence Catalysts and is cited as another reason why he leaves

Claudia dies and Julius immediately adopts Ludger in for his watch, the Soul Bridge is not explicitly referenced

So trying to mash all of that together...

Cornelia dies in the fight against Chronos, Bisley may or may not have sacrificed her (I need to double check this tbh but X2 is super weird with how sympathetic Bisley is supposed to be...)

Julius learns of the truth of Divergence Catalysts, AND that Cornelia was supposedly sacrificed, and both revelations break his faith in Bisley and lead him to fully believe Bisley would sacrifice him for the Soul Bridge

He finds Claudia, and her insistence that Bisley would use Ludger reaffirms Julius’ belief that Bisley would sacrifice anyone to complete the Trial. He takes Ludger in for his watch and also out of guilt to Claudia.

Julius changes his name to Julius Will Kresnik, he alters the family registry to say that Marvin is his foster parent, but also alters records to say that Ludger is Julius’ foster brother (Ludger himself is unconnected to Marvin)

For whatever reason it’s still discernable that they’re paternal half-brothers

???

i have such a love hate relationship with how gege writes women like he’s tackling the oppression of women and yet the women aren’t the important part of that conversation like he keeps killing them off 💀 it’s like how the walking dead would introduce a black character and immediately kill the previous main cast member black character

☝️ thing i can’t fault him for is that every female char is incredibly likeable. except maybe hana but tbh i still like her bc i could forgive women for anything she just got done dirty by the narrative. same with remi but honestly, instead of disliking her she made me dislike fushiguro a bit. (it’s not that i thought he’s at fault for anything i just disliked the set up for that arc) personally i think those two were the only major fumble writing wise. oh and tsumiki although i guess there wasn’t much more for her to do i was hoping she’d be more than a plot device (she was likeable anyway she made me like fushiguro more lmao)

omg i just realized what they all have in common is that they’re all related to fushiguro somehow.

another thing he does well is giving them their MOMENTS which to me is kinda more important than their depth in a battle shonen. like almost all the female combatants get a super raw moment. even hana shining that light on meguna was soo beautiful like idk that sticks out in my mind (until she fucked it up ofc)

nobara i think was actually rly well done. i still think there’s hope she’ll come back tbh. even though i said otherwise that’s just me pretending idc. yuki had a really good fight and she was so charismatic that i can forgive her death being related to choso so much (also bc i like choso). i just really wish we could have seen more of her earlier and know more abt her, esp her being a star plasma vessel, ik she was a supporting character but i was so hyped to see her in action. she’s one of my favs. tengen is also low key a fav even tho she didn’t rly do anything she’s well established and idk i just like her. uro is another fav who i need to see more of i hope she isn’t done for i feel like she got spared for a reason. yorozu was pure comedy i liked her and i kinda miss her i wish she stuck around longer. i stanned mai from her first appearance. maki is obviously my queen no words needed. i also thought momo was super cute and i still wanna know wtf that miwa panel was in the cg arc i think that was a genuine he forgot moment. mei mei and momjaku are freaks but i like them both they really help set the tone

ig the only issues are that 1) they keep dying and 2) their most important moments are related to a man somehow. i guess it makes sense bc it is aimed at a male audience but like if you’re writing abt women’s issues then you have to acknowledge the women in question as…people? that’s not rly what i mean to say but idk how else to phrase it. it feels like he wants to do a good job tackling these issues but he doesn’t rly get the core of the issue.

anyway it sounds like i’m shitting on him but the fact that he’s clearly making an attempt at expanding on the female characters instead of being like “here bitch damn” (and it’s a girl who gets one chapter of depth and is written out immediately after) is what actually touches my heart. altho ig he kinda did that with everyone but maki like i remember being surprised he went so far in the perfect prep arc for maki like i didn’t think she’d get a power up like that. and then in the sakurajima colony arc i didn’t know she’d continue to be relevant and then jumping sukuna with yuji like okayyy

the nice part of never getting fed is that crumbs are so delicious and nutritious for me. anyway i believe in kenjaku (old woman) x tengen heian era old woman yuri

I’m so happy someone else sees her in the same light as me, it’s kinda tiring seeing the negativity towards her (understandable tbh since she barely ever showed a positive attitude and only towards the end) since what she struggles with is an actual real life issue that usually is a result of trauma, it’s the worst mindset to ever be in and it leaves you and everyone who cares about you hurt, if not leaves you completely alone because you keep pushing everyone away thinking nobody’s ever genuine with you and there’s some nasty ulterior motives for their “kind” actions, it sucks and in a way i’m glad she somewhat snapped out of it after dying and being in the waiting room, obviously that world view wouldn’t disappear into thin air but i feel like she’s gonna be a bit more mindful now,i noticed her being a bit less hostile too and i was wondering how people didn’t notice that or at least don’t care to talk about it?, also you’re so right about charlotte being included with Amelia and bryce if they ever moved in together i feel like she’d at least stay in touch w them, arguably to me charlotte is one of the best written one characters if you really look into her

I also remembered people saying she’s an awful person because she’s painting her friends as these bad people like guys….she genuinely thinks they pity her and only care about their own image obviously she’s gonna tell other people the same thing, and her lying about not knowing there was fungus in the caves honestly also seemed like her not wanting to admit she’s wrong to not worsen her already very fragile self image, i feel like she doesn’t like being confronted about her mistakes because it just sucks being confronted about something you struggle to overcome (recklessness, awful spending habits, distrust of others that comes off as “having an ego”, etc) it even might come off as preachy, so overall i love charlotte’s character and how complex she is, i hope more people see your post i’m tired of her being painted as a manipulative asshole she just seems like she’s gone through some stuff that made her that way like no way you distrust everyone for no serious reason

YAA charlotte is like... a loooottt of how she acts really feels like its deeply rooted in Smth, and while its never specified what it is (or if there IS smth its based in, but it really does read like it is) and ultimately, the specific WHAT isnt really relevant, and it doesnt excuse her actions!! but shes def not like. evil or anything? people arent as patient w her character as they are for others who do similarly shitty things in the series and its genuinely a little like. shes not Bad Forever And Always. shes improving by the end of the series, at least somewhat, and shes not gonna be PERFECT right off the bat, and issues w trust arent easy to get rid of, if you can be rid of them entirely, but i think having the actions of her friends be recontextualized as not malicious like. genuinely has helped w her character growth, and she CAN improve and IS improving

also?? the thing abt her lying . sooooo tru. i think that her lying abt not knowing abt the fungus can really easily be read as her Deliberately trying to manipulate ppl abt her experiences, and while i DO think she does explain things in ways that make her look better (like u said, very likely to save image . bc she ALREADY has expressed that she doesnt like being belittled) its not malicious. that doesnt make it GOOD, but ppl painting all of her actions as Bad and Evil isnt doing her character any justice. shes a SUPER complex character, and i think she unfortunately gets overlooked bc she isnt Obviously part of liam amelia and bryces 'group.' she IMMEDIATELY was ok with the competition and so she doesnt get as involved in the main plot of trying to leave the plane. but i think shes a bit like julien in that, she doesnt ACTIVELY alter the plot in any super significant way, but she IS important narratively, i think. she shows someone similar to taylor, who WANTED to participate, but also someone who DOES ignore the worst parts of whats going on. shes a LOT like airy, easily adaptable, prone to isolation, and not always good at reading the wants or needs of others. but charlotte (and ive seen this mentioned before somewhere?) shows, at the end of the series, the Best case scenario for airy (were he not stuck in his world)

ANWYAY this is a lot but like. man charlotte is SUCH an amazing character. charlotte i am SO sorry everyone overlooks your awesome writing

#ask #SORRY for how long this response took!!!!#but its like... ive mentioned it before and i think partially discussed it in my answer to ur other ask #but one is a series that VERY much serves to dissect the diff ways ppl respond to horrible things #and thats what charlotte and bryce share in. theyre both characters that display what happens w poor experiences and poor coping #BEFORE another horrible situation #they display the ways ppl whove already experienced shitty things respond to NEW problems #(in contrast w liam and amelia who may have had problems before one. we dont get told this #but ultimately they either were doing pretty ok before or HAD worked on healing already #its deliberately vague bc. like i said w charlotte. the 'what' of why they act the way they do at the start #is ultimately irrelevant. one is abt the way ppl RESPOND)#which in turn kinda fulfills itself by implying smth has happened w charlotte before possibly?#though its still very much up to interpretation #but anway. yea.... SO sad she gets boiled down to being Manipulative And Mean. shes COMPLEX and its SUCH an oversimplification of her

I guess you can say I started reading that stuff last summer, unplanned. I was looking thru some tags and I stumbled upon a Rey/Ben solo one. Just clicked and read it without even realizing what I was getting into.

And after I saw the tags, I was scared tbh. I felt gross but it only made me curious to know why a big chunk of authors were writing this trope. And even more people reading it. So I got into it.

After awhile it became cathartic. I read it not because I found sexual pleasure in it, but I could see my naive self as a teenager in these characters. I was sexually assaulted a lot by strangers and related men. Till the point that I didn’t even physically react after awhile. This was me growing up in a 3rd world country. Consent was an alien concept and still is.

So now my head normalizes all the dark, gore and taboo topics. For me I feel freer everytime I read some fucked up shit. But I’d KILL someone if they went after someone young IRL. I’d protect them with my life. I don’t okay that shit IRL.

I just get lost in the fictional world. And I know it’s bad, trying to get outside that mental state but whenever I read fluffy stuff I don’t find enjoyment in it.

Sorry this got a lot. And I hope it doesn’t weird you out. I just felt like sharing it with you.

Thank you for sharing! I'm incredibly sorry you've had these experiences, that's beyond horrible. My heart goes out to you and I hope you're at a safe place where you can heal and grow.

In general - but especially with this context - I just need to say again that reading dark stories (or engaging with dark topics in fiction in general) doesn't make you a bad person. Fluffy stories aren't for everyone. There's a little webcomic that came to mind that you might've come across on tumblr already with the caption "different stories resonate with different people". Maybe it's a little more focused on the writer, but it's still very relevant here I think. To me, it really summarised the whole question of "why do you read/write stuff like that????" - Because sometimes, it helps.

That's why it made me sad when you said you "know it's bad", because really, reading those stories isn't a bad thing. You're reading something, that's all. That's not hurting anyone. I know I keep repeating myself but I know we can feel shame or guilt about things we engage with or have an interest in and I don't want you to feel that way. It seems that you found yourself reading something that resonated with you based on your experiences. That doesn't make you a bad person.

Also, you're not alone in this. Finding certain tags and being shocked, intrigued, curious or scared, and then doing research, reading some more, reading a lot more - it's not uncommon at all. It happened to me, too. Sometimes, I look back at stories I was super invested in and liked a lot and am surprised at how dark they are. But then I think that at the time, they helped me in some way. I read them for a reason, maybe I needed to read them. I don't feel guilty for that. Maybe in the future I'll look back at stuff I'm reading right now and will be equally shocked, but right now that's what I want to read for one reason or another.

If you start to notice that it's actively making you miserable, I'd advise you to switch gears for a while because sometimes, we can be stuck in a downward spiral and (intentionally, maybe) make ourselves miserable. I've been there before and found myself binge watching south park (of all things) because it made me feel horrible and I was sad and stressed. In that case, I had to tell myself at some point "this isn't helping me, I just end up feeling worse about myself, also I'm procrastinating doing things I have to do or enjoy doing by doing something I don't enjoy." - if that sounds familiar, maybe try stepping away. In either case, be kind with yourself.
