I hate Disney the corporate entity and all the monopolizing and damage they've done to art and entertainment but man...Once Upon a Studio fucking got me right in the feels man. You can tell how much love there is for the imagination, artistry, and legacy Walt Disney Animation Studios have made over the last 100 year.

Somewhere buried deep under the corporate machine and greed, the creativity and soul that made Disney animation so iconic and beloved still lives.

Silver: “………Could you…go back first, please?”

Malleus: “Silver?”

Silver: “I’ll follow soon…….guhh.”

Silver: “F-Forgive me. Uugh…I’m showing you a pitiful sight.”

Malleus: “Don’t apologize. Children also cry.”

Silver: “I’m already 17. I will be an adult next year.”

Silver: “In the eyes of Lord Malleus and Father, I’m no different than a child, but…”

Silver: “17 years ago……my father found me as a baby deep in the forest in Briar Valley.”

Silver: “Father is a fairy, I’m a human. No blood ties, no obligation to raise me……nothing.”

Silver: “But, he raised me as his own child.”

Silver: “He fed me every day, taught me lessons, and stayed by my side all night when I went to bed.”

Silver: “Fairies and humans are different in terms of behavior, speed of growth…everything.”

Silver: “Few people know how to raise humans in Briar Valley. Besides, my father is single.”

Silver: “How difficult it was to raise a human baby without anyone to rely on……”

Silver: “I can’t thank him enough. I was going to spend my whole life repaying the favor……!”

Silver: “Even though……I still haven’t repaid him anything!”

Silver: “That person is about to die alone in a distant country.”

Malleus: “………………”

Silver: “My…father can no longer use magic, and his body is weakening…”

Silver: “Even if the day comes when I forget everything, I hope I can always support him by my side…!”

Malleus: “……Lilia has a good son.”

Silver: “I’m not a good son. I can’t even fulfill one of father’s wishes.”

Silver: “I want to send him off with a smile, just as he wanted……”

Malleus: “You said you were nothing to Lilia. “‘No blood connections, or an obligation to raise you’…”

Malleus: “I’m sure Lilia thinks the same way.”

Silver: “…Huh?”

Malleus: “A human life is surprisingly short compared to long-lived fairies like us.”

Malleus: “Devoting yourself, a human being, to wither for your own sake. I don’t believe there’s an obligation.”(?)

The Once Upon a Studio short made me cry like a baby. To see the combination of the Disney films I obsessed over as a child (Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast) and the films that mean a lot to me now (Hercules, Hunchback of Notre Dame) is just a tad bit emotional

I'm just saying, I absolutely love the idea that the Disney Princes are all friends with one another just like the princess are. From this clip alone, it seems like Charming is aware of how rowdy Max tends to be, to where he has to always call Eric to reel him in since he is the only one that’s able to get him under control, other than Ariel XD

I already believe Eric, Eugene, Aladdin and Philip would be such mischief makers in the group too. The Beast (Adam) and Charming (whose name is apparently Henry?) and Li Shang would be the the straight men of the team, shaking their heads at their shenanigans.

Meanwhile, Naveen would be playing a ukulele to bring some music in that matches with the chaos.

How much do you think to offer Disney to make a short revolving around the Disney Princes? Cause that would be a huge opportunity to do since we had the Princess scene in the Wreck it Ralph sequel.

hm the diversity everybody seems to be ok with (all white cast and a token) is what forced diversity actually is, not when the best person for a lead role just so happens to not be white/mostly not white cast but we all know what people mean by "forced diversity" so I'm not gonna lament too much anymore

Okay, I have about 100 pages left in Veniss Underground, so I'm going to shut my phone off, set a timer for an hour, and try to finish it. It's a quick read once I get into it. Might also try to read while pacing the apartment bc my neck/jaw hurt and I think sitting scrunkled up on the couch is making that worse lmao.

My goal is to finish Veniss and then have zero reading obligations for the rest of the year. I need a break. I'm so burnt out that sometimes thinking about the books I want to read makes me a little nauseous, no matter how little pressure I put on myself goal-wise (this is the Year of Burnout for sooooooo many things). I might pick up a manga or comic between now and new years, something quick and light that can be read in a few hours, and I've actually been reading fanfic again recently which is a nice change, I fell off the bandwagon with it for a while bc I didn't have any fandoms I was passionate enough about to look up fic.

But! No novels! None! Braincell Recovery Time Only!!

#*100 pages of the main book left. then theres an afterword and short story i might read or else might save for later #im liking this story a lot more from Nicola and Shadrach's perspectives #still not as brain-melting as some of his other books but pretty good #also most of the fanfic im reading is like 2k word smut. i WILL read romance in fanfic form just Not Novel Form #Don't Ask Me Why #anyway basically my goal between now and new years is to do things that don't require a lot of brainpower #probably a combo of videogames (which require brainpower but in a Different Fun Way) and housework #also im gonna make french onion soup qnd charcuterie again bc that was the BEST idea last year it was SO GOOD AND NICE AND SIMPLE #maybe i will also find a defunctland video to get drunk and cry to like the disney channel theme documentary last year #im just procrastinating now bc i have to get up and find my fitbit to set a timer so i can shut my phone off

Okay, so "Once Upon a Studio" was cute... and I may or may not have felt like crying a few times while watching it...

#Blooming where I'm planted #There was so much to love about this - where do I start?#The fact the whole short was set at the studio itself - the way they kept all the characters from the 2D films 2D...#... while having them interact so seamlessly with the 3D characters and live action setting...#... the dedication to showing characters from EVERY film - even underrated ones like “Treasure Planet”...#... and “Atlantis: The Lost Empire”... the apparent comradery and good humor shared between all the characters...#... everything is just so well done... I can't get over it.💘💘💘#100 years... wow... just WOW. I can't believe it's really been a century since Walt Disney founded his animation studio...#... and gifted us with a plethora of animated films that are still being made to this day.✨✨✨#Please folks - if you are a Disney fan I 100% recommend seeing this short. It'll thrill you. It'll inspire you. It'll bring a tear to...#... your eyes... and it'll remind you of the beauty and hard work behind the art of the moving picture. I know it did for me.💞💞💞
