Talking Buddie Language: Ep 6.17
Well friends, we’re almost done with season sex, I mean six! It’s honestly been such a rollercoaster journey, one in which we’ve had great moments and some not so great ones. I’m really looking forward to the finale episode and seeing how they’re going to tie everyone’s storylines for this season and how they’re going to set up their upcoming arcs for season 7. There was a lot of foreshadowing and parallels in this episode that I believe will play a pivotal role for Buddie’s eventual romantic pairing. So I’m just going to get into this week’s meta!
Proposal Gone Wrong
The proposal gone wrong was kind of sad in my opinion. I mean you don’t necessarily need to do something drastic to assure your significant other will respond positively. It kind of creates this notion in which the other person feels forced to say yes because you did that grand gesture, which is exactly what happened here. The guy proposed to his girlfriend of 2 years by jumping off a building, got stuck in a freak accident and she said yes because she felt like she had to. The little moment she had with Eddie and Chim is what I want to focus on a bit here.
E: So what do you wanna do?
M: I guess I’ll wait a few months and then break it off.
Now the reason I bring this up is because doesn’t this remind you of something else? Didn’t Eddie also date Ana for months and thought he should keep going only because his kid loved her? He waited and then broke it off when he knew it wasn’t right for him. Now this can also possibly foreshadow his next relationship if he decides to actually give Marisol a chance. I mean I’ll go more into that later on. But I think if he does date her, possibly out of fear of being alone, it can easily be assumed that he’ll wait a few months before he breaks it off because deep inside he knows she’s not the one for him. I just feel like this line not only wanted us to remember Eddie’s been there but that it’s possible he’ll be in a position like this again.
Buck and Eddie Acting Like Idiots
The scene at the station was so funny and I love how we once again got to see how in tune Buck and Eddie are with each other. Not only were they both wearing the blue and green once again, but they were finishing each other’s thoughts once more, thus reminding everyone how in sync they always are.
E: I gotta figure out how to say no to another date my Tia set me up with.
B: Just download a dating app.
E: I did but I can’t bring myself to open it.
Hmm well this reminds me of someone else. Didn’t Bobby make a whole firefighters dating profile back in season 1? And he didn’t even end up using it. So that can parallel the fact that Eddie also downloaded a dating app but still has yet to actually use it. This was only the beginning of Eddie’s storyline heavily mirroring Bobby’s from season 1 and I’ll go more into it in a bit!
We also have Buck and Eddie finishing each other’s sentences like they’re this old married couple. They’re always on the same wavelength and it drives me crazy because with each episode we are reminded how perfect they are for each other.
E: Get the insurance money.
B: Buy a new ring and propose.
Eddie’s Attempts At Finding a Date
I really can’t help myself but laugh at how much gayer Eddie gets with and every episode. The entire little failed dating, well no I should say attempts at finding dates, was so sad. How can a man who looks that good with that dump truck fail at attracting women?? Well his little gay outfits didn’t help either. When have we ever seen that man in anything other than a Henley? I didn’t even know Eddie was capable of having such tight clothes like that lol.
The thing that makes me laugh is that he’s trying to find a person to date at places he wouldn’t normally be. Golfing? I do not believe for one second Eddie would play golf nor would he the kind of guy who’d find enjoyment in doing it with a partner. So the fact that we got to see him “put himself out there” but not really make any actual attempts really just highlights that he’s open to finding love but is kind of going about it the wrong ways. And he’s still lying to his son about it considering he told Chris he was running errands lol.
Buck and Natalia Give It Another Shot
I find it very interesting that Buck took Natalia to a bar of all places on a date. The only times we’ve seen him in a bar setting in relation to other love interests were when he hooked up with Taylor in s2 and when he kissed Lucy in s5. So to bring Natalia on a date here really makes me question what his reasoning behind that idea was.
B: This seemed as good as a place as any for you to get to know the real Evan Buckley.
L: Really? I have a few stories.
Lucy interrupting his date and then proceeding to tell Natalia all about her history with Buck in so many words was a literal sign from the universe. Not only did we get Natalia already judging Buck for his past but also questioning him when he was being honest and genuine about his past whatever with Lucy.
B: Uh hey, what do you think the tip is?
N: They gave you 3 options right down here. You alright?
B: Yeah no I don’t know why I couldn’t figure it out.
N: You’re flustered.
B: It was nothing I promise.
I think the fact that Buck just can’t do math all of a sudden to be such a bold choice of the writers. His entire math superpowers were connected to Eddie and Christopher. He realized he was the guy with the answers while looking at his Diaz boys. Then Eddie even took him out to put those newfound powers to good use all dressed up. So there was no need to mention that he can’t figure out the correct too amount while he’s with Natalia unless it was deliberately done to empathize how he clearly doesn’t have the answers while he’s with the wrong person. It was such an obvious random thing that wasn’t so random when you think about the connection to his math powers and what it can mean.
Natalia also wrongly assuming he can’t figure out the tip because he’s flustered just further proves she doesn’t really see him the way he initially believed. She was skeptical and looked at him like he was hiding something away from her. Her eyes were disbelieving which isn’t a great foundation to start a new relationship on.
Even the color theory checks out here to further confirm Natalia is not the one for Buck. Both dates they’ve been on by this point, she’s been in red, whereas Buck has been in tan/beige. He’s not wearing blue at the same time she’s wearing red.
The 118 Discuss Buck & Eddie’s Dating Lives
Once again I absolutely adore each and every time we see the 118 discuss their personal problems/lives in the truck. This was the scene we had spoiled to us months ago and it was definitely different than what we all were expecting!
B: Does she request to not come back?
Eddie’s side eye during Buck asking about Lucy is totally on brand for every other time we’ve seen Eddie react to one of Buck’s old flings. Especially this season where we’ve seen him dismiss Buck any time he mentions previous lovers. Love me some jealous Eddie!
E: So your day off went as good as mine?
H: Hiking and golfing in the same day? Sounds like you were out there looking for signs too Eddie.
E: You know I don’t believe in that stuff. I want what I had when I met Shannon. It just uh, it was magic.
C: Oh so you believe in magic?
E: I believe in chemistry.
H: Ahh in science. I get it.
B: The magic, weren’t you guys in the 12th grade when you met?
E: 8th and then we lost touch. Reconnected in 12th.
Eddie, oh Eddie. The fact that this man has had many different signs and he refused to listen to each and every one is worrisome because he thinks he’s looking for magic instead. Isn’t magic just another form of a sign from the universe? This man is trying to use chemistry as an excuse as to why he’s not having any luck finding someone. Well chemistry is definitely not something you force with another person. Chemistry is something that should be natural and organic and believable. To be honest, Eddie didn’t even have that much chemistry with Shannon from what we’ve seen. They were attracted sexually and that was it. They didn’t spend much time together on screen to make that chemistry between the two of them palpable enough for the audience. There’s also many different types of chemistry and they definitely had sexual chemistry but seemed to lack actual romantic and emotional chemistry.
The topic of chemistry was very poignant especially because we’ve seen time and time again how much organic chemistry Eddie has with Buck. They’ve been attached at the hip since the beginning and always gravitate to each other. Not only that but they’re both very vulnerable with each other and turn to each other in times of need, which assures emotional chemistry. We’ve also seen Eddie flirt and tease Buck many times throughout the years which indicates a form of sexual chemistry as well. Do I need to remind anyone of the kitchen scene™️ in season 3? So it is possible for Eddie to have chemistry with someone. I just believe it has to be someone he already knows and trusts. He believed he had chemistry with Shannon, who was a longtime friend of his. Well what is Buck? Surely Eddie has got to know that they have chemistry with each other. There’s just got to be something preventing him from connecting those dots to Buck.
B: Ok so that’s what it is. You suck at dating.
BN: Alright Buck, come on.
B: Ah, come on. If he met his wife when they were kids, he just hasn’t really dated.
I’ve been saying for many years now that one of Eddie’s favorite past times is looking at Buck. This season especially has shown how intensified those looks have been. One thing I found interesting was that as he was talking to Buck and the team, he rarely was holding any eye contact with Buck which indicates he wasn’t all that comfortable discussing the matter. The moment in which Buck diverts his attention elsewhere, Eddie defaults to his typical fond longing looks at Buck. He looks at him for a prolonged time and only looks away when Buck turns back around. He literally looks mesmerized by Buck just talking and even lifts his brows up so slightly like one would when they’re looking at someone they adore. That in itself indicates a secret in which Eddie’s hiding from Buck and that secret may very well be his feelings for the other man.
C: So he sucks at it.
B: Yes!!
H: Clearly you’ve mastered it Buck.
Eddie’s reaction to Buck agreeing with Chim is hilarious because he immediately gives Buck his patented side eyes. He feels betrayed by Buck in that moment because he’s clearly taken Buck out and he didn’t suck at that. He’s kind of looking at Buck like “Are you serious right now? You know I don’t.” It’s in the subtle way his right brow lifts up in question that makes me believe that. There has to have been a reason the show gave us Buck and Eddie on that poker date before both men started dating other women. It shows a vast difference in how successful that day was compared to their other disastrous dates with others.
One more thing I would like to mention is once again Buck and Eddie’s strong mirroring. When they’re both singing the bride song, their hands and bodies are moving the same way, to the same beat. I know it can be seen as them just being silly but even though Bobby was also singing, he’s not in sync with his body as the other two clearly are lol.
Eddie and Bobby Go To The Hardware Store
Like when Eddie was dating Ana and he was sorta lying to his son about it, he’s doing the same now. He told Christopher he had been running errands when he was going places in hopes of finding a woman to date. The fact that Eddie feels the need to lie to Christopher about it shows that it’s not something he wants to be doing nor does he feel like it’s the right thing for him. There’s something about his actions that makes him feel like it’s not good enough to let his son know yet.
Eddie calling up his future father in law for help was so sweet and I enjoyed their little scene together, especially because their conversation was very important. Not only was it important but it really did scream Bathena/Buddie parallels.
E: So how’s you make it happen for you and Athena?
BN: We got called to a motorcycle accident, it was a bad one. I wasn’t at my best at the time. Needed to take a minute. She sat with me. Eventually I asked her to go to church and we prayed together.
E: Wow.
BN: A few days later we had dinner, things grew from there and now we’re about to have our fourth anniversary.
E: So you definitely weren’t looking for it.
Honestly I feel like every time Bobby gives Eddie any kind of advice about his love life, Eddie just misinterprets or misunderstands what he’s trying to say lol. Bobby literally used his own example of how he and Athena came to be which immediately made me think of Eddie’s own past. We all thought of Eddie’s breakdown in season 5 and how Buck was the one who sat next to him. Eddie wasn’t at his best, he needed a minute and Buck was the one who sat next to him. Buck was the one who stayed at his house, helped with his kid, and just was there supporting Eddie in any way he could have. That whole line of Eddie telling Bobby that he wasn’t looking for it can possibly foreshadow him finally opening his eyes and realizing the one who he’s been searching for has always been someone right under his nose. Someone who he didn’t have to go and look for because they’ve always been right by his side.
Buck’s Second Disastrous Date Night
Poor Buck really isn’t listening to the universe is he? This time, during his other date with Natalia, they’re first interrupted by Taylor Kelly on TV talking about her tell all book which was inspired by a member of the 118 she was close with. Natalia quickly puts 2 and 2 together and asks Buck about it, in which he says he’ll explain over dinner. Once again, Buck is having to explain himself and kind of assure her when it’s too early in the “relationship” for her to be questioning him the way she is.
B: Uh, and-and that’s everyone. I think. I-I hope that’s not too much.
N: No. Wow that is a life well lived. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone quite like you. You’re all in about everything. It’s a lot. But I guess I can be a lot too.
Buck is looking so intensely at her, trying to see if she understands where he’s coming from and if it will be a deal breaker. He smiles and nods to himself when it seems that she is understanding about his past which hurts when you realize this man just wants someone to love and accept him for all of him, the good bad and the ugly.
And then they get intruppted by Kameron coming in because of her marital issues with Connor. A literal sign from the universe. (Not even going to talk about all the 3’s we got just in this episode alone!) Natalia once again thinks it’s a lot and needs a minute to take it all in. She decides then that a person who has lived so much life and has more life to give others is too much for her. She decides to leave and tells Buck to “take care” which is the same exact thing his ex girlfriends have all said to him.
Now this, to me, indicates a failed attempt at a relationship because things are never going to work out with these two. Not only was she only seemingly interested in Buck’s death, but she doesn’t even want to know more about the life he’s lived. He’s an interesting man so full of energy and love and life that it scares her and makes her want to flee. That’s not a strong foundation in which to start a relationship on and even if she were to come back afterwards, I feel as though Buck has learned from his previous relationship to not settle and compromise who he is for anyone. He’s not going to change for anyone else. Who is meant to be his partner will love him for who he is anyways. Something Natalia clearly can’t do.
Eddie and Buck Not Listening To The Signs
The end montage was funny when you look at everyone off doing what they were doing. We have all the couples together and then we see Eddie go back to the hardware store. He’s clearly looking for something and he can’t find it until someone asks him if he’s looking for soemthing.
I want to talk about Marisol and Eddie’s body language here and how different it is when they both look at each other. Marisol is being flirty and leads into him with her hips first which clearly indicates some type of attraction. Eddie on the other hand takes a step forward and then one back. He doesn’t lean into her, doesn’t prompt a hug or anything. Asks her about her ceiling which indicates he clearly remembers her from a call.
M: Try this one. Works like magic.
E: This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you.
Here she mentions magic, something in which Eddie was talking about previously in this episode. He kept saying he wanted what he and Shannon had and that was magic. Magic isn’t real. Magic is things people believe to be real and in this instance, Eddie believes what he had with Shannon was magic, when in reality it wasn’t. They worked hard for their relationship and there were a lot of ups and downs. Marisol saying that and Eddie immediately following up with how that’s what he was looking for is so important because that’s realistically what he had been searching for all episode long on those failed attempts at finding magic. Here we have a woman telling him and he just stops for a moment and thinks about it. He stops and thinks, hey maybe this is my sign. But he walks away. He stops and looks back but there’s clear confusion on his face, almost as if he doesn’t know what fo make about this little interaction. Clearly there’s something on his mind. But he turns around and keeps walking away from her while the music says “But you’re something that I must believe in and you’re there when I reach out for you.”
This would’ve been the perfect conclusion to his arc this episode. He was looking for magic, it took someone else pointing it out to him to see and he believed that’s what he wanted. But he didn’t do anything about it. He simply walked away. Because he doesn’t believe in it. He doesn’t believe in Marisol or believe her to be the one for him. Because he knows if he were to reach out for help, it wouldn’t be Marisol he reaches out to, at least that’s what my interpretations were. Remember, Eddie says to Bobby, “So you definitely weren’t looking for it” and as soon as Marisol points out the thing, he tells her “This is what I was looking for.” Marisol can’t be the person he’s meant to be with because as we established with Bobby, that someone is never going to be someone Eddie looks for. It’s going to be someone who knows Eddie, someone who can sit beside Eddie when he’s at his lowest and offer their support to him. Someone that’s been under Eddie’s nose this entire time. That’s not Marisol and I think Eddie’s realizing that himself.
(Now if we were to get Eddie somehow misunderstanding this and running into Marisol later on, thinking it’s a definite sign and trying to date her, we already know it’s going to fail because we’ve seen it play out once before with Ana. So regardless, it’s not really something I’m worrying over.)
Finally we get Buck going back to his loft with the pickles Kameron asked for. He goes up to his room and sees Kameron sleeping in his bed. He looks for a moment and turns around and heads back downstairs. Now to me, the quick look he gave her shows longing for that himself. A partner to come home to and a family of his own.
Buck sitting on his uncomfortable couch and eating the pickles while he looks up indicates he’s still a guest in his own home. He’s kicked out of his bed and he’s looking up once again defeated because he longs to have that for himself. This coming right after Natalia leaving him and once again being left completely alone. He’s also missing what’s right in front of him because he just doesn’t listen to the universe. He’ll get there soon, I believe in it.

Jenna And we got a lot of mail about it, Angela. We had a fan question from Saundra C in Georgia and many others who said, In this episode, we see a life size cutout of Chuck, played by Zachary Levi, displaying his love of the Pyramid phone. This is not addressed in the episode and is never explained. Was Zachary Levi in on this? Did he have to give permission? Well, first of all, just for anyone who doesn't know, Chuck was a very popular television show running during this time. It was created by Josh Schwartz.
Angela It was also on NBC.
Jenna It was. The plot was, Computer geek Chuck Bartowski opens an email that has been encoded subliminally with vital government secrets, triggering a massive download of critical information into his brain, prompting both the CIA and NSA to assign an agent to protect him so that no one can exploit this downloaded information in his brain.
Angela Yeah, like his old college roommate emailed it to him and somehow he got all this information in his brain.
Jenna Kind of a la The Matrix.
Angela Kind of.
Jenna Without the spigot thing, you know, without going without the poky thing that goes in the back of his- you have to plug in.

Jenna Well, when this episode aired, the series finale of Chuck had just aired. It was a big event.
Angela The whole series?
Jenna The whole series had just ended.
Angela Oh.
Jenna But in order to get and use this cut out of Zachary Levi, Steve Burgess said we had to ask Warner Brothers because they own the character of Chuck. And they said yes, but we had to pay them in order to use their character. And then we contacted Zachary Levi to see if we could take some photos of him for our cut out, but he wasn't available. So Warner Brothers let us use like a publicity photo that they had for the TV show. And Warner Brothers said that their only stipulation was that we had to give them credit and we could not use Chuck in any derogatory way, which we did not.
Angela We did not. There was an extended scene when everyone is arriving for the day to come work in the new Sabre store.
Jenna Mm hmm.
Angela Each Dunder-Mifflin Sabre employee walks past the Chuck poster, and they all do, like, you know, the two fingers where you kiss the two fingers, and then you pat it on something.
Jenna Like a good luck thing?
Angela Yeah. They all go (KISS NOISE) and they, like, kind of pat his forehead. Everyone does it except Erin, who hugs him, and Stanley just walks by him indifferently.
Jenna Brent shared that Mindy was very fond of this cardboard cutout.
Angela She was. I remember it.
Jenna Yes. Because after the episode was over, do you remember she put it in her office?
Angela Yeah. In the corner.
Jenna Yes. And she would hang things on it, like she'd put her hat on it or a hoodie.
Angela Her coat. Yeah.
Jenna Yeah. So you could go in there and it would be sort of like a dress up cut out.
Angela Yeah. And if her door was open, if you were walking down the hallway, you always saw it. It's really funny.
Jenna Yes! And sometimes you'd forget and think a person was in there. Or that Zachary Levi was in there.

Olivia's Apartment: A study with terrible gifs
Season 15/Early 16
Seems like the back door leads to a bedroom, but you never see it so that's debatable. Brian said it was a small apartment which would seem to imply one bedroom, but it's not explicit. When Noah has been with her for four months already, she had his crib in the living room which also kinda implied there was only one bedroom. When she opens the door for Melinda there are not big lights in the hallway which we'll look at more later.
Late Season 16
Partway though season 16 the crib moves so that it's visible through the back door which is a little confusing. Is that a bedroom? Is he sleeping in a little vestibule area? In this scene there are now the big lights in the hallway that we see when Elliot shows up in OC 2x03.
Season 17-19
Partway though season 17 the back door starts showing a shelf instead of a crib. We only ever see a bedroom in this apartment in season 19 and it's Noah's. It opens to a little hallway that has a couple of doors. The implication I assume is that one is the back door we've seen since season 15 and the other is Liv's room (never seen). When someone knocks at the door she goes through the one that seems like it's the backdoor to the apartment. But when she walks through it there's a chair and an end table but when she lets the lady in, it's the same shelf we've been seeing since season 17. (The Munch scene is from 18 and the scene with the lady is from 19 right after she walks out of Noah's room.) Also, when she lets the lady in, the door is brown instead of white like it is when Elliot shows up later, but I think we can say there were some upgrades over the years.
Season 22
As far as I can recall we don't see much of the apartment in 20 or 21 and if we did it wasn't much different. The apparent in this scene is pretty much the same as always, but I like that Liv's idea of decorating for Christmas is to just drape light over things. This looks like essentially the same furniture as when Elliot shows up. Same TV stand and couch I think and the same lamp the TV too, but there's a new giant fancy one in the next scene too which is maybe why it's brighter lol.
OC 2x03 (SVU Season 23)
Okay I thought this was a different apartment which is what started me on this whole road, but upon further review, it's the same one. The door is different (could have been upgraded) and as far as I know this is the first time we've gotten a full view of the hallway. But idk for sure about that. Someone let me know if I missed it before. Also, the walls seem whiter to me but it could be lighting or she painted. They were super white in season 16 though too. So if she painted, she's done it at least twice. I just realized it didn't make it into any of these gifs but the ugly brown chair Elliot sits in has been around since season 15. In the first shot we see when they're unpacking the apartment, it's there. I like to think it was Brian's chair that she adopted when he left. (No real reason except I enjoy the idea of Elliot sitting in Brian's chair lmao.) The lights above her kitchen island are a little different too I think, but again just could have been upgraded sometime. It's also just way cleaner, but maybe she was going through a phase. (Re: the brown chair. I thought I remembered seeing it in the new place but I only have 24x10 downloaded so far and I couldn't find it so I'm not sure if I imagined that or if it's in one of the other episodes.)
The 500th Episode (later in Season 23)
This looks like a completely different apartment to me. Now it is possible that the mystery door from Noah's hallway leads to an intensely long hallway that doesn't stylistically match the rest of the apartment, but it seems like maybe this is when she moved. Or the first time we would have seen evidence of it. I think this hallway could work with the new place as far as style and size. As far as I know, these are the most recent 3 times we've seen Liv's apartment, but I could be wrong about that so if anyone's still with me let me know if you've seen other things that support or refute this idea.

Stewart Lee’s Alternative Comedy Experience features a bunch of comedians doing bits of material and bits of interviews with Stewart Lee in between, and Bridget Christie was one of those comedians. Before I watched it I wondered how they’d do that, how they’d address their marriage when they talked. When I watched it, I was pleased to see the answer was they didn’t.
I’m sure there were Andrew Lawrences of the world (probably including the actual Andrew Lawrence) who were annoyed that his wife got on there over others, but it’s incredibly obvious that she belonged on that show on merit. Both because she was more than good enough, and because her style of comedy fit right into the style of the show. If I didn’t know they were married, I wouldn’t wonder for a moment why she was there. If she weren’t on the show and they weren’t married, but I just knew who she was, I would wonder why she wasn’t there, because obviously she should be.
Anyway, I guess they pre-empted some of that by almost not discussing it. He asked her about her work and she answered, same as with anyone else. It was interesting and I was glad they did it that way. They only broke that at the very end of one episode, when she’d been talking for a while about why she’d started doing so much explicitly feminist material in the last few years. Stewart Lee asked her how she felt about just being known as “that feminist comedian”, and she replied, after having done multiple episodes of this without ever mentioning it: “It’s better than being known as Stewart Lee’s wife.” Then the episode immediately ended.
I thought that was a really good line, and I wanted to mention it in a post I made when I first watched that show, but I didn’t, because I sort of felt like it undermined the point. She wanted to be assessed on her own merits like any other comedian on that show, rather than having anyone focus on her status as someone’s wife. So I shouldn’t really take a post about everyone else’s comedy and make it about her marital status, even if it was just to point out how she didn’t like to be reduced to her marital status. So I didn’t do that. I did a whole write-up of what I thought of my favourite comedians on there, including Bridget Christie, but just about their comedy. Then I downloaded and listened to her Radio Four stand-up shows, because her material really was very good and I wanted to hear more of it.
This post, however, is not supposed to be just about the merits of people’s comedy material, so I think it’s fair for me to say here that I think she’s like that in general. She went on Isy Suttie’s podcast The Things We Do For Love, which is about everyone’s romantic history, and managed to not mention Stewart Lee once. She just told lots of stories from before she met him, or at least before she was with him. At the end of each episode, Isy Suttie asked each guest some questions about their romantic partner, or, if they were single, she asked them questions about themselves. Bridget Christie was the only person to have a romantic partner, but still get questions about herself at the end, not about him. She must have asked Isy to do that.
Given all that, I was quite pleased with something that happened today. My dad and I have always shared an interest in British comedy, so this year, like the last few years, my gift to him has been to fill his external hard drive up with comedy I think he’d like. My mother’s not into that stuff the same way, so I gave her an actual gift, but I also gave her a few little comedy things I thought she’d like. Including a copy of Bridget Christie’s 2016 stand-up special: Stand Up for Her. We watched it last week when my dad was out for the night, and my mother loved it. Even more than I expected her to, actually. It was nice, because my mom and I don’t often have much in common so enjoying that together was fun.
This afternoon, I was talking to my dad about the stuff I’d given him for Christmas, and we mentioned Stewart Lee (my dad hasn’t heard Stewart Lee before, I gave him those shows on the off chance that he’ll like it, knowing it’s a bit of a gamble on an acquired taste – he hasn’t watched them yet so we’ll see how that goes). My mother asked what we were talking about, and I got to, for a moment, feel like Amy Pohler, that time in 2013 when she was hosting something or other and Bill Clinton came out, and when he left she breathlessly told the crowd: “Wow! What an exciting special guest. That was Hillary Clinton’s husband! Oh my God.” I told my mom we were talking about Bridget Christie’s husband.
Now that I think about it, since she’s done Taskmaster, I’m sure there are a lot of people who know Stewart Lee as Bridget Christie’s husband. Is being known as the woman who can’t walk properly better or worse than being known as “that feminist comedian” or Stewart Lee’s wife? Either way, he is now the guy who’s married to the woman who walked wrong on Taskmaster. And to Bridget Christie for taking the chance to go on that mildly scary television show and creating that situation, I say:
(I’m pretty sure Stewart Lee would say that as well, and good for him on that.)
I might start referring to Richard Herring as Sally Phillips’ ex-boyfriend next.

18+: Angst!
In which Alberta Downloads the repository of the Ancients into her head
A/n: Daniel and Alberta got married a handful of episodes earlier.
"Alberta!"
She can't pull away and it's so bright. She hadn't thought twice, her heart nearly stopping when Jack had pulled Daniel away from the device.
The next thing she knows is she's on the ground, Daniel kneeling next to her, his hands on her face, "Alberta? Sweetheart, you okay?"
"What happened?"
"I'll explain later, but you need to get up," He loops his arm around her and they run to the gate, dodging glider fire as they go.
"What happened?" Hammond asks when they come back through.
"Didn't quite go according to plan," O'Neill explains, glancing over at Alberta.
"We need to get her to the infirmary," Daniel says, his arm not leaving her waist, holding her tight against his side.
"I may have... Done the thing," She sighs as he leads her out of the gate room.
Sam and Jack have to drag him out of the infirmary and to the briefing, and the whole time he argues that he shouldn't leave her side.
His face goes noticeably pale when Sam explains what will happen to her to the General, "And then, it will overwhelm her nervous system, and Dr. Dread will..."
The major goes quiet when said Doctor walks into the room.
"Shouldn't you be in the infirmary?" Hammond asks.
"Well, we all know what's gonna happen," Her voice is quiet and she briefly glances at Daniel who looks like he's going to be sick, "In a couple days I start speaking Ancient, then I start doing things I have no control over, and then I..."
Daniel quickly walks out and the room is silent for a moment before she clears her throat, "Anyways... If I could take the next couple of days to take care of a few personal matters?"
"Last time," Sam says, "It did take a couple days before the Colonel started exhibiting symptoms."
"You and Dr. Jackson take the weekend," Hammond tells her, "I'm sure you have a lot to talk about."
"Thank you, sir."
She says a short goodbye before hurrying after Daniel, just meeting him at the elevator.
"Hammond gave us the weekend," She tells him as she follows him into the lift.
He doesn't say anything, just nods and hits the button.
The car ride is deathly silent and has her chewing on her nails.
"Please talk to me," She asks when they pull into the driveway.
Daniel's knuckles are white as he grips the wheel, "Why? You didn't talk to me, not before..."
"That's not fair," She argues, "You didn't seem to hesitate when Jack stopped you from doing the same thing."
"That's different."
"How? How the hell is it different Daniel?" She snaps.
"Damnit, Alberta! Because I can't watch you die!" He yells, turning to glare at her.
"Cause it was so easy on me to watch you die!" Her voice a touch louder than his.
"So what? This is payback?! You were so distraught when I ascended that now it's my turn?!" He accuses, "Hey!"
Pulling the key from the ignition, he scrambles out of the car after her, "I'm not done talking about this!"
"Fuck you! I am!"
He catches the front door just before it slams shut in his face, hearing the bang and click of the bedroom door being slammed shut and locked.
"So you're just gonna lock yourself in there all weekend like a-!" Just before he can pound his fist on the door, Roland (Alberta's Dog), starts barking and growling at him, making him jump back, "Fuckin dog... Fine!"
He grabs a beer from the fridge and turns on the history channel, grumbling as he slumps down on the couch.
After a couple hours of glancing in the direction of the bedroom and not really watching the tv, he sets the warm, unopened beer on the table and walks back over to where Roland is laying outside the door.
He swallows the lump in his throat and knocks lightly, "Bunny? Hey, I'm sorry I freaked out, can we talk?"
He looks down at the dog that starts to whine when she doesn't answer. His breath catches when he hears her unlock the door, but it only opens enough to let Roland in before shutting and locking again.
"Sweetheart, please open the door," he begs, trying uselessly to turn the knob.
"Alberta... Please, if this is all we have left, at least let me see you," His voice cracks, and he rests his forehead against the painted wood, "Please... Let me hold you and pretend like it won't be the last time. Let me hide my pain in the warmth of your embrace and become engulfed in all that you are. Until you are all I can breathe, all I can feel, all that I am. Please, my love... I need you."
It's quiet for a minute before there's a soft click on the other side of the door. He watches the door slowly open to reveal his wife wrapped in their comforter, eyes red and wet.
"Aw, Bunny," he pulls her into his arms, "I'm sorry I got so mad, I'm just so damn terrified."
He feels her tremble and cling to him, "Someone had to do it I-... I panicked."
"I know," he presses his cheek against the top of her as they sink to the floor, bracing his back against the doorframe and holding her tight to his chest, "I just wish it wasn't you, Petal... Anyone else I could manage but-... god, after everything I just... I don't think I could bear it."
"Daniel," She adjusts on his lap, reaching up to place her hand on his cheek.
"Losing you, would destroy me."
"No, wait," she desperately tries to wipe away the tears streaming down his face, "Danny please don't cry."
Her heart completely shatters when he leans forward and sobs into the crook of her neck, his fingers digging into the blanket around her shoulders in a bruising grip.
"Please don't leave me Bunny, please," he hiccups, "I've lost so much, I can't lose you too."
"Oh god, Danny," she starts crying again, both of them clinging to each other like a lifeline, terrified of letting go, "I love you."

She feels him move beneath her, cracking her eyes open, sunlight blinding her for a moment.
"There's someone at the doooor," he groans, pulling her closer when there's a knock at the front door.
He whines when she tries to sit up, wanting to hold her close.
"Here, you go tell them to go away, I'll feed Rollie and Fiz, and then we spend the rest of the day right here," she suggests, hand lightly tracing shapes on his chest.
"Mmmm, fine."
They both roll out of bed and pull stuff on. He throws on a t-shirt and his jeans from the day before, and she grabs one of his button-ups and a pair of boxers.
He stares for a moment, lost in how beautiful she looks in his clothes, sleeves rolled up and hair messy, he has to stop himself from pinning her back on the bed and kissing her crazy.
Daniel freezes when he opens the front door.
"Hey, Danny Boy!" There stood Jack O'Neill and Teal'c with a box of donuts in his hand, "T and I were in the neighborhood, and we thought we'd stop by, see how things are going."
"Uh-"
"Don't worry, I brought beer," Jack assures him, pushing his way into the foyer before they can be turned away, "Mornin Bert!"
Alberta jumps, spilling a few pieces of dog food on the floor, "Jack? Teal'c? What are- Oh my god."
She looks down at her clothes, she'd put on the first thing she came in contact with, and her face goes bright red. She quickly shuffles back into the bedroom to pull-on pants.
"It's not even noon," Daniel comments when O'Neill sets down the six-pack and cracks one open.
"Your point?"
It's not long before Sam shows up, and the group lounges in the living room.
Alberta is making food for everyone while they joke and laugh as if nothing was different. And for a short while it felt like nothing was, she was curled against Daniel's side, Roland was sat by Sam, Fizgig was on Teal'c's lap, and everyone was smiling.

Daniel glances up from his notebook at Alberta sitting in his lab, her foot tapping against the cement floor to the music playing in her headphones while she works on a MALP upgrade design on her laptop.
"Hey," He gets up and taps her shoulder. She pushes her headphones down and looks at the book he's showing her, "This mean anything to you?"
She studies it for a moment before shrugging and shaking her head, "No, sorry. Look, last time it took O'neill a while, and even then, he said things just sorta popped into his fron."
"Fron is head," He says.
"What?"
"Fron, you said-" Something on her screen catches his attention, "N-never mind, what's this?"
"Nothing? Just work."
"What does Taonas mean?"
"What?" She looks up at him confused.
"You wrote 'Taonas' right here," He points at a ball joint, then his finger moves to the design name, "Praclarush?"
"That's... not what it's supposed to say," Her eyebrows scrunch in confusion, scanning her work for anything else weird, "That's supposed to be a ball joint for the new camera mount, and this... This is supposed to be a series of numbers. What the hell?"
After a few small leaps in logic and light bickering with Sam, he insists that Alberta had subconsciously written the name of the planet they're looking for in her plans.
"Sure! Just... It seems like a bit of a jump." She says when he looks at her with those big blue eyes of his. She shakes her head and runs her fingers through her hair, "I don't know Danny, I just... I need caffeine."
He watches her get up and start to leave, immediately following her and grabbing her hand, still not ready to let her out of his sight.

"Even if it is, knowing the name of the planet doesn't really help without a gate address to get us there."
"Yeah, I know... Hey?" Daniel looks over to Alberta when he feels her fingers on his arm, tracing the edge of the patch on his shoulder, a soft smile on his lips, "You okay?"
"At."
"What?" Sam asks.
"At."
"This?" Daniel says, taking off the patch and examining it, "This is-"
"At," Alberta nods. "Not really sure what that means but, yeah."
"That's okay, I think I do," Daniel says, scribbling something in his notebook, before showing her one of the Stargate symbols, "What's this?"
"Sh... So?"
"You just told us to be quiet," Sam says.
"No, the symbol is 'Sh'," Alberta explains.

Could you rank your favorite Jack moments?
OK. I've put quite a lot of thought into it and I think I can give a solid list now- so here it goes.
Obviously top slot has and forever will go to that fucking "lose it" monologue in window of opportunity. Not only is it just easily the Most Iconic he's ever been but like??? I relate to that on a spiritual level. And I will for my whole life. Also probably the moment I realized exactly how much I loved him watching sg1 the very first time around like that scene has everything- confused teal'c, a ketchup and mustard smiley face on a plate, various ways of saying "I'm going fucking insane". 15/10
Second up for me is probably when Jack talks Daniel down from his little sarcophagus withdrawal rampage. I know I've talked about this before (HERE) but when he says "I know what it's like" and takes the gun from him and hugs him my poor little heart crumbles into a thousand pieces because???? boy just said empathy and hugs are the best medicine and he's right and he didn't flinch to do it and I'm so proud of him ok???
I love a lot of shit from the episode Divide and Conquer, but I think my top two are these: 1) "Carter's brain is worth more than mine" O'Neill giving her that LOOK in the hallway??? BOY ARE YOU OK??? and 2) that resounding fucking "NO". Jack O'Neill has emoted strongly several times. But nothing quite like that. In fact that "No" for me rivals a lot of other "No"s in other works of fiction. Best "No" Award goes to my favorite dilf.
This is sort of a combo Jack and Teal'c moment but I go absolutely ape shit every time in Children of the Gods when Jack says "I can save these people! Help me!" and Teal'c says "Many have said that, but you're the first I believe could do it!". Name a better turncoat moment in all of fiction I'll wait. Top 10 Anime Friendships.
Also I think Learning Curve may be my favorite Dad Mode O'Neill episode. Dude really gets so close to a court marshall just so this one kid can have a normal childhood and won't have her agency taken away and it's so fucking cute and important to me. Of all the children he should've personally adopted after a mission she's number 1 for me and the art class is so cute and I'll bet you he has that painting she did framed somewhere in his house and oh no y'all I'm so fuckin emotional!!!!! Also we get the prima line "Dogs are my favorite people" from that episode and I relate to that.
Bonus small moment: when Jack gets ancient knowledge downloaded into his brain a second time and Teal'c is damn near in tears worried about whether he's gonna be all right and Jack can't understand him at that point BUT TOUCHES HIS FACE!!!!! toxic masculinity who???? he don't know her!!!!!!

hi! if you don't mind me asking, what psd do you use on your doctor who gifs? if you don't use any, which specific settings do you use to make them look so pretty?
First of all, I'm so sorry for the late reply 😫 Secondly, I always think my gifs suck so it's very nice to hear 😊 In the first place, it's important that the movies and series must be HD, so I download all the episodes HD. I rarely use psd in my gifs, most of the time I colour my gifs myself. There is only one usual setting that I use in most of my gifs; unless the scene is too dark or too bright, I always color the gifs according to the same setting with minor changes.
In my Doctor Who gifs, there are two different settings that I use, one is the usual setting, and the second is a wonderful setting that I learned from dear Nicole (expelliarmus.tumblr.com) You can check out her tutorial if you want to by clicking the link, I learned so much from her 🥰 I don't know how much I can explain as English is not my native language, but I will try 😐
My setting is: First, I increase the brightness enough according to the brightness of the scene, sometimes it can be 40, sometimes 100 if it's too dark. I increase mine to 25 here.
Then I add Levels, I always set the Levels like this:
This can be variable. If the scene is too dark, I set the white point (last one) to 230. This is how it looks like:
Then I add Selective Colors, the colors in this gif are red, yellow, blue, white and black. Selective Colors are up to one's own preference. I usually make big changes if I want vibrant colours, and small changes if I want dull colors. I increase the cyan in the red setting to decrease the redness, here, by 5 percent. I increase magenta by 5 percent because I want pinkness on the face. I reduce yellow by 5 percent because I don't want to bring out the yellow in the whole gif. In the yellow setting, I increase the cyan by 5 percent and decrease the magenta by 5 percent to highlight the yellowness in the hair. Since her coat is blue, I decrease the yellow by 20 in the blue setting to make it vibrant. I decrease black in the white setting by 20 percent, to bring out the whiteness; and increase the black in the black setting by 3 percent to make it darker. This is how it looks like:
I add another brightness but I increase it a little bit as this scene is very bright.
If the scene is dark, I also add a curves layer but we don't need that here. Afterwards, I still don't know how it is used but I add color balance (variable) 😄 Here I adjust the color the way I like with minor changes. Annd that's pretty much it! The first one is what I just explained, and the second one is what I did by increasing only the selective colors settings up to 40-50.
For the second setting that I use, you can check out Nicole's (expelliarmus.tumblr.com) tutorial and I'm sure you'll find it more satisfying than mine 😂 I love Nicole's gifs, she can make really eye-catching and sweet gifs. Her gifs are brighter and more vibrant than mine. At first I didn't know she had a tutorial, so I tried to achieve something by trial and error mostly by examining her gifs 😀 I learned a lot by blending what I know with hers so thanks Nicole! Here's one of my gifs by using her tutorial blending with mine:
Lastly, my save for web devices settings are always Adaptive / Pattern. They make gifs look really good by fixing the colors!

Reviewing Dramas I Have Watched Part 8

My Strange Hero: 4
Trigger Warning: Suicide, Bullying, Verbal and Emotional Abuse
My Strange Hero is about a man named Bok-su (which stands for revenge), who was falsely accused by his friend and girl friend of shoving his friend off the school roof and expelled from high school. Now nine years later, he gets the opportunity to return to school but he isn’t just going to go back nicely, seeing the seemingly cozy lives those who betrayed him are living he decides to enact his revenge by proving how corrupt the high school and the people working in it are. However, his plans for revenge get more difficult to achieve when he begins to fall for his ex-girlfriend once again.
This show was cute and interesting, it made me mad and lot and Yoo Seung-ho never disappoints. I ended up watching it in less than a week with studying and all so it draws you in really fast. I absolutely loved the realistic factor of not having to forgive everyone for a good ending and to move on. Many shows, kdrama or otherwise, make characters forgive even those who did horrible things to them just for a good ending, and it’s not always that simple nor do you owe those who did horrible things to you an apology to be a good person and move on looking at you Missing Nine. However my main complaint with it is that the ending isn’t as impactful or satisfying as the ending three episodes previous. I’m glad they had the three ending episodes because the other characters got more closure, I just wish they would have made it as impactful as the ending of episode 29. It is about thirty minutes an episode so it’s a really fun and interesting watch if you need something on the shorter side. I highly recommend!

Love Alarm deals with the concept of having an app that can read your emotions and alerts your phone when you are in 10 meters of someone who loves you or alerts your crushes phone if they are within the 10 meters. It follows Jojo, a girl with a mysterious and sad past, who can’t download Love Alarm because of her phone. She is in an unhappy relationship and begins to have feelings for the new student. After being kind to a student, he gives her the phone and she can finally download it only to find that love is a lot more complicated than she originally expected.
Okay, I started this show because the new season was coming out and everyone was freaking out about it. I had been avoiding it all this time because I love Song Kang and have been following his work since his smaller roles, hoping he would get bigger roles. I was so excited when I first heard he would be the main here but couldn’t ever bring myself to watch it cause I don’t like romance love triangles and already knew he was playing the webtoon second lead which made it worse. Plus I have a trauma with anything that has Kim So-Hyun in it. I adore her acting, she is so good, too good. She just always plays in really sad, dark Kdramas and I always like the second leads in her shows so I just get sad and angry when I watch her shows. I at the time just didn’t feel like dealing with being annoyed and finally got in the mood to watch a cheesy love triangle romance. *spoiler alert* I can confidentially say that while no character and no ship is necessarily healthy, I do prefer Sun-ho to Hye-yeong. No, not because he is played by Song Kang, in the first few episodes I hated his character. I wanted to punch him so badly, but with all his immature flaws he did do some mature things. He told Hye-yeong to not fight over Jojo and to let her pick which I loved because, shows like to have the two people fight amongst themselves who gets the crush and that’s so stupid to me, Jojo is a person with feelings too and she might not like either so I loved that he said that. I also loved that instead of telling Hye-yeong not to pursue Jojo because he still loved her, he told Jojo to stay away from Hye-yeong so that he wouldn’t be hurt by her like Sun-ho was. He still loved her but his friend came first, and I felt horrible when he lost almost everyone who genuinely loved him. Hye-yeong is okay, but he isn’t even a healthier option, he literally stalks her all the time without her even knowing about it, he memorized her daily routine, where he’s going to college so he could move there to be around her, it’s just too creepy to me. Yes, Sun-oh stalked her too and that is not okay at all, but he made his presence known so that she can voice if she was uncomfortable or knew to call someone if she felt threatened, Hye-yeong sneaks around and doesn’t even talk to her and that’s super creepy to me. I just think they are both immature and personally with some growth I think Sun-oh is more fitting than Hye-yeong cause the two really do seem like they are in love with each other while Jojo and Hye-yeong seem like a crush that will turn out to be more platonic. I know it’s wishful thinking but that’s just my hopes. *spoiler over* I did really love this show actually, sometimes you just need a trashy dramatic romance. Yes, it had toxic behaviors but I still liked it, it felt like a realistic teenage couple in high school (minus Mr. Stalkery Stalks.) I think that not everything has to be analyzed, I enjoyed the cute romantic scenes at face value, even though I knew they weren’t healthy. If it happened to me in real life, I would have punched a bitch but it’s fun to watch on a screen.
Blood: 2
Trigger Warnings: Blood, Suicide, Terminal illness, Murder, Abuse.
Blood is about a surgeon who is also a vampire. He tries to control his vampire self and help humans while working on a way to make himself human. When he transfers to a new hospital things take a turn for the weird as the patients of the new ward start exhibiting symptoms he is all too familiar with.
Blood was really good for the first two thirds of the series. I watched it before I found out about the main couples real life situation but continued to enjoy it because it’s none of my business what they do in their personal lives (so please don’t message or leave comments about that situation or your opinions on it.) Both couples were super cute and there were some plot twists that admittedly got me. I liked the story line and the idea that vampires were viruses that doctors were researching in secret. I really got hooked for most of the story; however, the last few episodes felt almost like they switched writers and the new writer had never watched the previous episodes. Comments were made that never were brought up again, like the thirty minutes of vaguely discussing his parents and who he was as an infectee that was never even slightly brushed upon for the rest of the episodes let alone resolved. Not to mention that last episode was a total mess and the ending sucked. The last two episodes are not canon in my mind that’s how weirdly out of place for the show they felt, it was like a 180. The ending was so confusing and I just really hated how it all played out. Because of this, I give the show a 2 cause I did enjoy it a lot but I won’t watch it again. Once of that was enough.
Legend Hero: 4
Legend Hero, also known as Legend Hero Samgugjeon or Legends Heroes the Three Kingdoms, is about people who compete in a dream battle to acquire their ultimate dream. The main character acquired three spirit helpers which help him in combat by transforming him into an armored knight with special power, and later befriends angels who help him in the battles by boosting this power. He has to fight friend and foe alike to achieve his ultimate dream but that begs the question, is a dream really worth it?
I really enjoyed this show, it was admittedly difficult to get into at first but once I did, I was hooked. The characters were so cute and endearing, the plot had humor, angst, and fluff alike. The acting was a little silly at points but it was made for kids so it’s a little overdramatic. It was all around a very entertaining watch, I watched the whole series while on vacation during the resting hours when my family and I were lazing around the hotel and it was such a refreshing, happy, lazy watch. I highly recommend for those who enjoy a happy watch when they just wish to relax.
Web-Drama/Mini-Series
Power Rangers Dino Force Brave: 4
Power Rangers Dino Force Brave, while technically a sequel to the super sentai series, is a original stand alone production and sSouth Korean take on the power rangers series. While the power rangers finally enjoy the peace that had come to the earth, a new threat is brewing. The Neo-Deboth Army has arrived looking for the power of the dinosaur king, the power ranger once more have to come together to defeat this threat.
This show was super interesting and cute. I have never seen any of the power ranger series so I am entirely inexperienced when it comes to their world. However, I can confidentially say this is a good stand alone as I was not confused while watching it. The first episode got recommended to me on youtube and since I was bored and unsure of what to do, I decided to watch it. I believe I finished the whole series in only a few days. It was super cute and I liked how ironic and silly the ending was with all the characters, including the evil ones dancing together. I’m sure die hard power rangers fans hated that but as someone who knows nothing about the series, I found it quite hilarious. The plot itself was entertaining and cool, it had some angst moments and some cute moments. I loved the ending, but that’s all I will say about that.
Founder of Diabolism Q: 3
Founder of Diabolism Q is simply snippets of cute or funny scenes from the book that didn’t make it into the series or at least not in as much detail. It follows many characters in small, five minute long episodes and the shenanigans they get in to.
Founder of Diabolism Q was super cute! I have watched The Untamed and read some of the book but haven’t watch the actual anime yet. Still, I decided to watch this short series. I watched each episode as it came out and loved every one. There isn’t much to say on it though, other than it was super cute and if you love The Untamed or its adaptions, I highly recommend. Just make sure you watch or read one of the full adaptions first otherwise you will be very confused.
Imaginary Cat: 4
Trigger Warning: Depression, Suicide, Vomit, Illness, Death
Imaginary Cat is about an aspiring webtoon artist who, after loosing his crush and falling into a depression, finds a cat in an alley and takes her in. He is able to recover from the loss and get back into writing when he meets a girl who is obsessed with cats especially after she lost her kitten as a child. He is just trying to get his webtoon accepted and she just wants to get close to him and his cat.
This was such a cute little easy watch, but was really sad at some points throughout the series. I teared up through some scenes and laughed so hard through others. I also related a lot to how the main plays with his cat, especially when said cat wants none of it. It was a really nice mini-drama to watch in the very little time I had between studying and moving house. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend to those who want a easy watch that’s a little sad and very cute.
Korean Movies
The Magician: 4
Trigger Warning: Blood, Abuse, Drugs, Suicide Attempt, Murder, Death
The Magician is set in the Joseon Era and follows the famous magician, Hwan-hee. He along with his blind friend Bo-eum ran away from their abusive caretaker as children and are still worrying about being found by him even to this day as they perform to keep their livelihoods. Meanwhile a noble lady who was sold to the Qing dynasty comes to town. The two end up running into each other and quickly fall in love, however they both have to overcome the obstacles in their way in order to be together.
I loved this movie, I had to pause a few times just to process how much I personally enjoyed it. I wish I was able to watch it in a better quality because I never once saw how his one eye was blue, I just took their word and the movie poster for it. Unfortunately, it was the only place I could find to watch so I took what I could. The only reason I am giving it a four instead of a five is the ending sucked. I hated the ending. It just felt unnecessary and honestly really pissed me off. I don’t always need a happy ending but I also didn’t need that kind of ending either. I would still recommend it to those who like angst with some romance and a open-ish ending.
Seondal The Man Who Sells the River: 5
Trigger Warnings: Blood, Death, Vomit, Gore
Seondal is supposedly a comedy about a group of swindlers who become fast family after escaping from a war they were drafted in. They work together to swindle their way into riches and out of dangerous situations. They gained a huge name in the Joseon dynasty for even swindling the king. However, after tragedy strikes, they decide to do their greatest job yet, sell a river of fake gold.
The movie was really good, both funny and heartbreaking. My friend and I watched it together thinking it would be a nice comedy after we watched some sad kdrama earlier that week however, it was most certainly not. We both ended up crying and raging. So just be warned it claims to be a comedy and it is hilarious for the first half of the movie, however it quickly turns dark so fast you are just sitting their in shock wondering what happened. I thought Xiumin’s acting was great and his character was adorable. I had not seen his acting before and he easily became a favorite. The movie’s plot and writing kept you engaged and entertained throughout and the ending was great in my opinion. Overall it was a really good watch, I have seen it twice now and thoroughly enjoyed it. I highly recommend to those who enjoy both comedy and angst.

My Review of 22/7
How did I get into this anime? Fuck it! I picked a random anime to watch for the winter line-up. Let’s hit it!
22/7 is an idol group for real in Japan with one hell of a fanbase. LET’S GIVE THEM THEIR OWN ANIME!
Okay!
So, eight total strangers are picked by random to become part of an idol group. That’s essentially it! Eight girls who don’t know each other are told to meet some gorilla producer at a zoo and told to drop everything in their lives to become idols. What the literal and actual fuck?!
First of all, the concept of having all of these young girls being eyed and taken to some underground penthouse has Jeffery Epstein AND R. Kelly vibes ALL OVER THIS MESS! Although, I will give this anime some credit that these girls are at least high school age or older (but not by much)!
We’ve got a shy, introvert named Miu. Then there’s the blonde, cutie from America, Sakura. Nicole, the only one with an interest of becoming an idol. Junko, the spunky girl with butt-loads of energy. The no-nonsense and let’s get down to business, Akane. Miyako, the girl with sisterly love. The practical one, Reika. And Ayaka...she’s also in the group! These eight girls make up the group, 22/7 (a group name to this day I’m not sure why it’s called that).
They are then told to obey a wall…
OH FOR FUCK’S SAKE! A wall? Seriously?! A God-damned wall?! These girls and the people promoting 22/7 are to obey plates that are shit out by a wall! I know idol animes are notorious for fucked up storylines, but…I can’t even here! Becoming idols because it’s been your life-long dream like in Idolm@ster, that is fine! Becoming idols in order to save your school from being shut down like in Love Live, that is fine! Becoming idols because an eccentric necromancer brings you back from the dead like in Zombieland Saga, fucking awesome! A wall that must be obeyed when giving decisions on an idol group…what the literal and actual fuck!
Here’s what most episodes are set up like.
1. The Wall gives out an order.
2. One of the girls doesn’t want to do *insert activity here*.
3. Flashbacks play off and on for girl of the day.
4. You must do what The Wall says.
5. I don’t want to.
6. BITCH, DON’T GO AGAINST THE WALL. THE WALL IS GOD!!!
7. Pout, contemplate, and more flashbacks play.
8. Fine, I’ll do it.
9. Play the ending theme!
BETWEEN THE SUB AND THE DUB: This anime is licensed by the good folks at Aniplex (and possibly FUNimation). Crunchyroll added this one month after the initial release. If you’re all wondering why that’s happening to a lot of Crunchyroll-picked animes, yeah keep wondering. Sony has control over Aniplex and FUNimation and as a result Crunchyroll has a delay on several animes (including this one). It’s an inconvenience and just raises the rates of people downloading the episodes illegally. Once again, thanks for nothing, Sony! Give Crunchyroll some credit as they do give people in other countries streaming benefits. FUNimation is primarily U.S.
With that rant off my chest, on with the cast! Now this might just be first episode jitters and all, but a lot of the voices here seemed very bland. And you know it’s gotta be that bad if even I am riffing on the voices…FROM JAPAN! Well, much like many other idol shows like Idolm@ster and Love Live, the voices for the girls are only going to be known for their Idol group work. With the exception of two girls, this is everyone’s first official anime role. Here’s everyone!

*Sakura is played by Sally Amaki (known for Betsy on Kaguya-sama)
*Jun is played by Ruri Umino
*Reika is played by Chiharu Hokaze (known for Silvia on Fate/Grand Order)

*Miyako is played by Mizuha Kuraoka
*Nicole is played by Mei Hanakawa
FAVORITE CHARACTER: Miu.
Prior to episode 11, it was more of a me connecting with this particular character due to having many introvert connections. But after Nicole’s flashback where Miu beats the crap out of a bully, Miu is best girl.
IDOL TROPES: So let’s see if 22/7 has the usual tropes normally seen in many other idol animes.
* A shy, introvert character (right from second one)
* A bitch who thinks she knows all about the idol world (not as bad as Dia, but heavy on the bitch part, yes)
* Shotty CGI for the dance scenes (right in the fucking opening)
* Bikini episode (check)
* One of the girls has a fuck-ton of siblings and is one of the most eccentric of the bunch (oh yeah)
*A robotic character or IS A ROBOT (Akane is not a robot, but she’s monotone for like 96% of the series excluding flashbacks)
ENDING: It’s been close to one year since all eight of these girls were chosen for this “project” We’ve already seen back-stories/flashbacks of almost all of the girls (except for Nicole and Miu) and now 22/7 is about to prepare for their one year anniversary as a group. But then the wall gave out an order! And the plate simply read, “Disband”.
Could you be any more cliché?
Maybe it wasn’t obvious for you, but for me I knew that was coming. And no, this wasn’t a joke! There wasn’t smudge on the wall’s platelet. These girls are to disband, lie their way through a press conference explaining the disbandment, all the people a part of this experiment are out of a job, and the girls are to go back to their regular lives before any of this happened.
Can they though?
These girls just spent a whole year being thrust into a position they never expected to be in and leaving their families and future plans behind. These girls are late-teens; they’re trying to prepare for work or college! A lot of them even had to work through a lot of baggage weighing them down (particularly Jun, Akane, and Reika)! Then all of a sudden, the wall shits out an order and says to disband. There was nothing wrong with the higher-ups or the group. Everyone was now enthusiastic about doing everything possible to make 22/7 a household name. But because a fucking wall gave the command to disband, everyone’s gotta drop their shit, lose their income (which some people like Reika, Ayaka, and Miyako could use), and just pull-out of already planned events.
THEN, you make the girls lie their way through a press conference by giving vague answers to the media about the disbandment! In my opinion, the girls could have lied and said there was fall-out at the top and it was out of their hands. I know the girls can’t simply say, “the magical wall told us to disband and we can’t go against the almighty wall”.
Well, we’re about two episodes away from the finale and it’s about time to see the backstories of Miu and Nicole. Believe it or not, these two have a history that goes back a ways (though it seems like Miu doesn’t remember Nicole). Would you believe that Nicole was once a shy introvert with a stuttering complex? Yeah, it’s true. The character who was seen as a bitch from episode one was once a shy, introvert.
It wasn’t until Nicole was pushed to do something against her will and a little help from Miu that she was able to come out of her shell. But enough of the flashback!
It’s now one month since the girls were told to disband. And for one reason or another, all eight of the girls made their way to the old production building. I guess they were all feeling nostalgic for the one year they spent as idols. They have a good cry. And all of a sudden…
The wall spoke?!
The wall pretty much said that this was merely an experiment and when the girls asked to reunite, the wall denied them. So then Miu goes savage on the wall…
Okay, Miu is best girl of this series!
The other girls follow suit and break the wall, making an opening.
Once inside, the girls stumbled upon something quite disturbing. These girls have been tracked, not only throughout their idol careers, but before then too! There were shots of the girls when they were children! What kind of freakshow, One Hour Photo, Truman Show, fucked up shit is this?! This is all sorts of WRONG! How is this fucker not in jail? WHO IS THIS FUCKER?! No, I will not be quiet about this! Everything about this is so fucka wrong I can’t even! Who follows little girls secretly for most of their lives taking pictures of them? Let’s think about that…

New theory that goes along with old theory! Jefferey Epstein was killed in prison when his neck was snapped because AG Bill Barr sat on it. And before the devil sentences him to a lifetime of misery and woe, he gives him one last chance to atone for his actions. Instead, he stalks little girls in Japan. HOLY SHIT, THIS IS STARTING TO MAKE SENSE!

The girls leave the disturbing room (never to be seen or talked about again) and I guess we’re never gonna get a clue on the identity of our pervert that hides behind a wall. They walk away and end up on a stage. And in the audience, were all their loyal and devoted fans. You see, they happened to gather on what was supposed to be their one year anniversary and their fans held out hope that they would still perform on their anniversary like they promised before the disbandment notice hit.
They performed. I guess 22/7 is back together. I guess we can disobey the wall just this once.
The wall shits out a new platelet saying add 3 more members.
We end seeing those three new girls that we may or may not see again. It depends on whether 22/7 was good enough to warrant a season two.
If the Jeffery Epstein rants weren’t an indicator, I was not fond of this series. Maybe I was just turned off at the concept of eight total strangers being told all of a sudden they’re idols because a fucking wall commanded it. I’m pretty sure it’s because of the storyline involving a wall and having to obey it. The songs were just okay, whenever we got to hear them. Unlike a lot of other idol animes, we really didn’t see a lot of performances from 22/7 outside of the opening and ending themes.
The one thing I was really invested in were surprisingly the flashbacks from all of the girls. A lot of these stories do lay on the drama really thick. But you really wish that everything’s gonna work out in the end. Like you really wish Miyako could see her biological father again or want a happy ending for Akane and her family. But then you get a back-story like Jun’s. Oof, that one was a gut-punch! I’m no fan of this show, but episode 7 is the go-to episode.
Now, I’ll watch 22/7 if it gets a season two. I try not to give up on an anime, no matter how much it annoys me. I like to see things through to the bitter end. But as for recommendations, there are far better idol shows to choose from.
Yes, I see that it’s a stretch to say there are GOOD idol shows. I know the stigma and hate that they get. But I am not one of those people. I thought Idolm@ster was okay. I liked Love Live just fine. UtaPri amuses me (and yes I count it as an idol show). Zombieland Saga, fuck yeah! This, not so much!
But if you want to watch, FUNimation has all 12 episodes available for streaming. And Crunchyroll has…a few as of this date and time. Again I point out that Crunchyroll couldn’t even get streaming rights to this until a full month after it began airing. Thanks again, Sony!

DW s12e10: It's Quite Unfortunate That This Child Keeps On Regenerating
It's only fitting that the first post on a blog called "SciFinal" should be about a season finale.
Not that fitting is the fact that in said post I'm going to begin where it all started for me.
Part One: How I Even Got into This Mess of a Show in the First Place
While I call myself a huge Doctor Who fan, even a – *gasp* – Whovian, I must admit I am not as familiar with the franchise as I would like to be; I've seen the new show, I've seen Torchwood (though, admittedly, I had to force myself to finish the fourth season – but that's a story for another day), I've listened to a handful of audio dramas (including Kaldor City, which I consider to be canon for both DW and Blake's 7) – mostly Torchwood audio dramas, but who cares, – I've read a couple of comics, I've got a novel or two somewhere on my bookshelf, I've seen the first couple of seasons of the classic show, but that's about it. I can't say I grew up with it – it wasn't on TV when I was a kid, there isn't an official Ukrainian dub, et cetera, et cetera. I first heard about it when I was about thirteen, when my classmate did a project about something they liked – and was pretty dismissive of my peers' hobbies at the time, believing myself to be somewhat above them, so I didn't pay much attention.
Then somebody finally pressured me into watching it (I believe I was fifteen or something back then) and I loved it. The first two episodes of the first season, I mean. I watched those, texted my friend something like "consider me a Whovian now!" and abandoned the show completely only to return to it maybe several years later.
I loved it. This time, for real.
Doctor Who has been with me ever since that time, it has a big soft spot reserved for each and every Doctor ever in my heart, and for each and every companion. I know full well it's cheesy, and it's stupid, and it's technobabble-y, and it's glorious in all of its cheesy technobabble-y stupidity.
And I hate this finale.
Part Two: Doctor, Why
I hate this finale – because I hate Chris Chibnall. Mind you, not the gentleman himself (I don't even know what he looks like, and I can't be bothered to Google), I hate what he did to Doctor Who.
Now, when it was revealed that the would replace Steven Moffat I felt... nothing. What did you expect? I had no idea who the man was. I know now he's made Broadchurch, and I know he wrote a bunch of stuff for Torchwood back in the day, including Cyberwoman. I had to drop Broadchurch because of how well-handled the depressing atmosphere was, and I love the flawed, dumb, sexy-cyber-bikinied, almost-fifteen-minutes-of-Ianto's-whining-including (I know because some time ago I literally cut almost every single moment of Gareth David-Lloyd whimpering, moaning, groaning, screaming, and mugging at the camera out of the episode and made those bits and pieces into a beautiful clip show called "I HATE THIS" to explain exactly why his face was and still is so punchable) mindless fun that is Cyberwoman (this is also one of the two episodes in which they actually do something fun with the pterodactyl living inside Torchwood's underground base). The latter also led to the creation of one amazing in how it develops Ianto's character audio drama entitled "Broken". I love Broken. I am now forcing you to look at its cover because of how much I love it.
Here we go. Now, back to the point of me rambling pointlessly
In his video "Sherlock Is Garbage, and Here's Why", a well-known YouTuber hbomberguy pointed out how Steven Moffat's problem is that he is more than capable of writing a good one-off episodes, but ultimately fails at managing multiple complex, overarching stories, as visible when you look at the difference between Moffat's individual episodes and his run on the show.
Now, I believe that Chris Chibnall suffers from the same affliction: he's a good screenwriter but a terrible, terrible showrunner. Sure, he's made Broadchurch, but Broadchurch, in its essence, was a complete singular story with a beginning, a middle, and an end. There were no bigger, incomplete arcs expanding at the expense of other episodes, and the show did exactly what it was originally designed to do: it told an uninterrupted story.
Here comes Chris Chibnall's run on Doctor Who.
Now, while Steven Moffat was ultimately not very good at managing overarching stories, he tried to do so nonetheless, and the fans seemed to like his attempts. And while I can't be sure as to whether it was Chris' original vision for the show or he and his co-writers were merely trying to emulate Moffat, he attempted the same. A friend of mine has even pointed out how, to her, it was painfully obvious how the writers of the finale were desperately trying to copy Moffat's style (to give you some context, she grasped it from a 30-second clip of the CyberMasters' reveal, and that clip basically consisted of me filming my laptop's screen and laughing at their design, making the video wobbly and the audio distorted). At the time of writing this post this friend hasn't seen a single episode of Chibnall's era and, as far as I know, has no wish to do so – mainly because of two reasons that both have something to do with the finale:
Somebody's already spoiled it for her, so who cares;
I ranted to her about how shit this finale is and now she hates everything about Chibnall era.
I am very sorry for the latter, since I genuinely believe there are some nice episodes in these seasons, and I especially like the "historical" ones, they really are quite a lot of fun, I like Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison fighting badly CG-ed alien scorpions, I love Lord Byron and Mary Shelley running around a haunted house trying to escape from a Cyberman (even though it's all too similar to the Agatha Christie episode from Russel T Davies' run), I adore that episode about Rosa P–– oh, wait, no, that one was crap and ripped off Blake's 7... Anyway, I love Jodie Whittaker's Doctor, I am a big fan of Graham, I like Ryan just fine, and I can put up with Yaz, even though it's been two seasons and I've still got no idea what's her personality supposed to be, and I absolutely love the new Master (he reminds me of a cute little pug with a big Tommy gun). There is plenty of good stuff in these two seasons, they are lots of fun to watch, but this finale... Oh god, this finale.
Part Three: We Had All of Time and Space at Our Fingertips and We Ended Up with This
We are getting to the point of this whole thing. I would love to begin with the obvious, the twist, but there's so much wrong with this who-cares-how-many-parter than this one big thing.
It is inept. It is impotent. It is incompetent. It is bad at almost everything except its okay camera work, somewhat good (for a British TV show, I mean) effects, and its really solid performances.
Its editing is tone-deaf to the extreme. There is a moment in the final episode where Ko Sharmas asks who will be the first to cross the Boundary and step into the unknown, and immediately it cuts to Yaz walking towards it, all fast and silent. I would love to show you a clip of it, but I don't have one and I can't force myself to download the episode and sit through this shitshow again just to present you with a ten-second clip. Nonetheless, that part is not edited like a dramatic moment. You edit comedies this way. Bad comedies. Bad editors edit bad comedies this way.
Its plot is incoherent. There are several plot threads in this finale, and they're managed in a way that doesn't make the viewer care about all of them at the same time, rather the viewer goes "oh, I've completely forgotten this was happening" and then, before they can even begin to care, the show cuts to something else. It's all over the place and oh so annoying.
The plot armour is painfully obvious despite every attempt to disguise it. There wasn't a single, solitary second when I believed the Doctor was really going to sacrifice herself and, lo and behold, here comes the old guy ex machina to do it for her. The only questions I was asking at that moment were "How are the writers going to prevent the Doctor's death now that they've seemingly created themselves a way to go on forever?" and "How can Whittaker care so much about her performance in this scene she's literally almost crying?". I wholeheartedly related to the Master asking "So why are we still here?" and shout–– hiss–– mumbl–– whatever-ing "Come on, come on, come on!" – at that point I've suffered through at least forty-five minutes of utter nonsense, people going preachy, religious Cybermen with Dalek motivations, that absolutely ludicrous scene in the previous episode when the show was trying its worst to make me perceive autonomous flying Cyber-heads with laser eyes as a serious threat, a shit twist and... Oh.
I've got to finally touch on the shit twist, haven't I?
It doesn't make sense. No, I mean it. I guess it makes sense from the show's writers' standpoint to retcon everything in a way that would allow them to go on forever without having to come up with a way to circumvent limited regenerations, yes. And I won't be touching upon all the lore people say this twist has ruined. No. It doesn't make sense as it is.
The twist is revealed to us by a madman that claims to have hacked into a database, claims to possess control over the Doctor's mind, and gives the Doctor and the audience no actual solid proof that the Timeless Child is, indeed, the Doctor. We have Ruth, sure, and she's nice enough (damn, I want that vest), and she's a Timelord that happens to own a TARDIS that looks like a blue police telephone box, and she calls herself the Doctor. Here's Ruth:
I really like Ruth. She also makes no sense from the show's timeline standpoint, since the Doctor's Type 40 TARDIS only got stuck looking like a police box in 1963, so there's no reason for the Doctor to not remember being her.
We also know that the Judoon have identified Ruth as "the Fugitive"... except in one of their previous appearances in the show they weren't able to identify their targets exactly and thus were seeking out non-humans. There is a possibility that they were only looking for a Time Lord on Earth.
You know what? It's possible that Ruth is actually the Master messing with the Doctor. I have just as much proof of this as I have of the fact that the Doctor is some kind of an endlessly regenerating superbeing.
But this is not the most maddening thing here. I loathe it, but I don't loathe the twist itself: I loathe its lifelessness, I loathe how empty, how unemotional, almost robotic it feels. When somebody'd spoiled the finale for me, I got angry, and I started asking questions, and when later I saw the actual thing...
This gif. I can't even explain how accurate it is. I stood there, in the middle of my kitchen, episode paused, holding a cup of cold tea and desperately looking around as if in my surroundings I could somehow find that emotional reaction that this show failed to evoke. I was ready to burst into tears of how empty it felt, and how empty I felt, and how the same show that has Christopher Eccleston go from literally foaming at the mouth with pure hatred to shocked silence in a matter of second because of one sentence that you, a viewer, can't help but be astonished by failed to make me feel the tiniest speck of literally any emotion. And slowly, I felt that vast void in my chest fill with sheer, pure, flaming hatred for the person who made me feel nothing, for the story that left me not bored – but empty.
And the next moment, in its own unique way of being absolutely tone-deaf, the show introduces the CyberMasters, looking ridiculous, being asinine in concept, making me burst into laughter with their dumb design. Wow.
So.
Chris Chibnall's Doctor Who is no longer a show. Chris Chibnall's Doctor Who isn't even, as somebody on Stardust said, a fan fiction. It's a rollercoaster. A lackluster rollercoaster that lifts you from the vast caverns of frozen hell, devoid of any life whatsoever, soulless and abandoned, to the heavenly torture of being so bad, so utterly awful and ridiculous, that you can't help but laugh as you watch something you used to love be distorted and deformed to the point where you can't recognise it anymore nor really care. This is what Chris Chibnall's Doctor Who has become. And I'm going to continue my ride on that grotesque rollercoaster. I'm going to pirate that ride and get on it again. Because I'm a masochist. Because I want to feel something, even if it's hatred towards those that make me feel nothing.
Because some time ago my fifteen-year-old self watched the first season and learned a lesson that I hold dear after all these years – that I can't abandon hope, and that someday, somehow, things are going to get better. That the future is being written right now. That the future can change.

I admit, it is rather weird to write a piece of meta on an episode underneath a gifset that doesn’t feature a single scene from said episode. It doesn’t for good reason though and that being the fact that iTunes doesn’t have the episode available here in Germany yet, so I couldn’t download it to make gifs, therefore this will have to do. I think though that these scenes above will illustrate well enough why I chose to use them in context to the S14 premiere. It’s plain and simple: To me they capture the essence of what this episode was about and to a huge extent in my personal opinion this episode was about one thing: Faith. Whether it was from Maggie mentioning a rawhead (the monster Dean killed in 1x12 “Faith” and almost killing himself in the process as well) the first man we saw Michael visit who started his day with praying to Mary trying to “keep the faith” that they’ll find Dean to Castiel expressing faith in Jack, who has lost it and the believe in himself to Sister Jo who seems to continue to work as a “faith healer” and saving people.
Faith, the very concept of it has always been something Dean as a character was shown to struggle with on Supernatural. Early on, from the very first season onward and especially set up with the episode 1x12 “Faith” that sees Dean close to dying with a damaged heart after having been electrocuted his’s faith or lack thereof has been an integral part of his journey as a character. In fact it has become a red line running throughout the seasons shining a light on Dean’s state of mind as well as perception of self.
Given all that the opening episode of S14 felt very interesting, because imo it called back to its roots and the episode 1x12 “Faith” as that episode not only truly established the heart symbolism surrounding Dean that has been focal point time and again over the course of 13 years, but also marked Dean’s special place within the grand scheme of things which has always lead all the way to Michael, who of course at present is calling the shots.
And here is where these aspects intertwine rather well, because imo the heavy focus on the heart in 14x01 with Kip for example talking about “eating Sam’s heart out” feels especially striking because Dean is absent. Dean, the tin man, lost his heart, his agency, has become a mere puppet to Michael’s will. And along with Dean essentially losing himself to me the show has lost it’s core, his heart too and that was strikingly showcased this episode.
Now, I know many people are going to hate me for saying this, but to me this set up makes one thing perfectly clear: Supernatural cannot work without Dean (which is why Dean is never allowed to not be around for longer periods at a time), because it lacks its heart, the PoV character, the narrator, the one who is holding everything together - and with that also has become the one who has steadily fallen apart due to the weight he carries on his shoulders, because he never once has put himself first or believed he mattered (and frankly ever since that god awful scene at the end of S12 with Dean trying to save Mary by going inside her mind also was plain shown that he indeed doesn’t seem to matter as a person in his own right, but only in extension to someone else) and with that thought he deserved to be saved.
To me this first episode spelt out perfectly the only way Dean should be able to “beat” Michael in the long run (I assume that even though Dean may appear “saved” but really won’t be - I guess they will play up some parallels between Nick and his possession and the aftermath for him with Dean, though frankly this whole thing was the most stupid move, because the vessel Lucifer inhabited was artificially made by Crowley and had nothing to do with Nick anymore, so... duuuhhh + if they needed this for dramataic purposes, Dean sharing with Sam those experiences would have made more sense and would be much more meaningful, but anyway...) lies in the small but important fact of Dean finding self worth and love for himself. The episode has shown one thing clearly and that is that Michael is completely unable to grasp the concept of what love means, it escapes him or at the very least annoys and bewilders him. Just like Lucifer never knew what Baby could trigger for Sam in 5x2 “Swan Song” neither understands Michael the meaning of love. And especially so if it is love for someone else. The only thing he knows about that is how he can use it to manipulate people and that’s how he was able to get Dean too after all.
And here is where I found Michael’s question to his counterparts interesting (though I quite frankly had to roll my eyes at Dabb here too, because really? Now even so obviously reference/steal from Lucifer from “Lucifer” and his “what do you desire?”-style), because every single time, every single answer featured love for someone else and belonging in some fashion, things Michael obviously seems to despise and count as a weakness (he is very Voldemort in that regard actually...) unless it is directed at oneself.
What do I mean with that? Obviously, Michael had asked Kip the question of “what he wants” as well and after some thinking he had come to the conclusion, a very selfish one: Everything. Well, as one says that’s how the mighty fall, but what I felt important in this context is how Kip managed to “survive” Michael and how Michael befriends a vampire at the end of the episode (for its “pure” reasons - lots of callbacks and parallels to purgatory with Dean and Dean and famine here, which I can’t possible work into this text right now, but there are a few fitting things in these storylines relevant to the current set up). They both think of themselves, put themselves first, “love” themselves if you will and THAT is something very strikingly different to Dean, because Dean doesn’t care about himself, doesn’t put himself first and truly has no love for himself. That is exactly why imo Michael has such a strong hold over him, why Michael could overpower Dean. It’s based in Dean’s lack of self worth and that aspect to is directly connected to faith - faith as such as well as the episode from S1.
More than once on the show it was addressed that Dean doesn’t think he deserves to be saved. Be it due to what he did in Hell or plain and simple due to the fact he thinks no one could or should ever love him. I truly think that is why Dean is so vulnerable to be overpowered by Michael, because in opposition to Dean Michael has all the love for himself but none for anybody else. He is self confident to the point of arrogance and being a complete megalomaniac, but point is, he feels worthy. That’s where he draws strength from. Dean on the other hand feels the opposite, has never learnt to form a healthy image of self. That is where to me the aspects of purity and hunger come into play here and especially so Famine’s words to Dean, because even though it is 9 years later, Dean doesn’t feel any different really, he never healed but only accumulated more scars, more trauma, more reasons to hate himself. He has been deeply depressed for a long time and shown to be tired and at the end of his rope, ready to lay his head to rest. Amara to echoed these sentiments previously said by Famine, that Dean feels empty. And well, doesn’t someone who feels empty and despises himself allow all the more room as a literal vessel for someone to inhabit?
So what does it all come down to? My personal takeaway from this episode was that there is only one way to “save” Dean and that is by Dean saving himself. And that may be the hardest part, because as all of the gifs capture above Dean struggles to see himself as worthy to be saved, as important and lovable, because he simply doesn’t feel any of those things for himself. But if I was part of the writing team, this aspect would be the vital aspect for Sam, Jack and Co. to get Dean back, getting Dean to build up his own self worth, loving himself and with that becoming strong enough to fight Michael off who really doesn’t know humanity at all. Dean’s love for his loved ones has proven to “move mountains”, who knows what he could move if he had found just a shred of that immens capacity to love for himself...

Long Distance Relationships
i finally got to see him today after three months.
here’s a story on how i met the literal love of my life. :)
after years of abuse, and horrible relationships. i finally graduated high school, broke things off with my toxic boyfriend at the time and was determined to make myself happy and be with someone who cherishes me as a woman, and loves me even without makeup on. i downloaded a dating app (thanks bumble) and after three days and being picky, i caught a match. let me give you guys a run down, he is literally perfect, athletic, loves adventures and loves all the things i do. so i go ahead and text him asking how he was doing and he responds with a pick up line. at that moment i knew he was the one for me so i responded with “are you yoda? cause yo da one for me” and he sent me his number and we instantly hit it off.
we planned to meet up a week later, but his car broke down an hour away from my house. so we stuck with facetime for a few days/weeks. then the day finally came and we had our first meet up. i took him to the river and i watched him skateboard and help my brother skate as well. obviously more went on during the date such as him meeting my family and whatnot. everyone loved him, and instantly hit it off. we then planned another trip for me to come up to his house and meet his family, so that’s what i did. i met them on his birthday and we all got along super well.
after a year of dating, he broke up with me as the distance and not being able to hold me was torture. i became severely depressed but he stayed by my side through it all. i found out he was talking to this girl, and tried to find an escape with her. a week later i went up to see him, to give his stuff back and just to talk. he told me he broke things off with her and that he realized after meeting up with me that the feelings are still very much there. i was beyond happy. he looked at me with so much adoration when i asked him about new cuts and bruises from martial arts, he then says “it’s crazy how you’re the only one who cares and can point them out.” of course i cried a lot and he held me through my mental breakdown. after thirty minutes we had to go our separate ways, but he kissed me goodbye. i cried so much after that, and my best friend urged me to stay the night with her as i was going through very bad depression episodes of not eating and crying so much i puke.
later on, i drove up by myself to give him his favorite shirt and for him to spoil me (his idea). he took me ice skating, held my hands during it, then took me out to eat and we went to go see venom together. at the end of the day i cried to him, telling him i love him more than anything in this world. one thing led to another and we had sex and it felt like more than just a fuck as one would say. we both poured out our emotions. after laying there with him it was time to say goodbye, but he held me and kissed my forehead. i cried so hard driving back home, because the feeling of having the choice to stay but knowing you don’t have your own car or any money saved up to buy an apartment sucks so bad.
we facetimed everyday after that, played genshin impact together and would fall asleep on facetime. three months pass and on february 11-12, 2021, i finally get to see him. i booked a hotel and watched him during his belt testing, then he took me on a date to the cheesecake factory, didn’t make me pay for anything. we had a photoshoot before and after because our outfits were amazing, think mafia boss and wife vibes. he stayed with me in my hotel room, of course did the dirty and he held me all night after showering with me and washing my hair. then having to leave the following day is what hurt the most, i adore him more than anything in this world, i will risk being homeless for this man because he is worth everything. he helps me so much in life and i’m not used to it. he gives me so much confidence and happiness. i love him so much.
i guess the whole point in all of this is, even though you and your significant other is hours apart, there’s love there that’s so strong even when you can’t just wake up one day and drive 30 mins to hop in their bed. mine and his love language is physical touch, and we understand the pain of not being able to hold each other and feeling like you’re on top of the world when you see them. just stay strong. the time will come where you can wake up beside them everyday.

it is currently 8:34am!!
just wanted to update on today’s events before i sleep.
so earlier this morning, i accompanied my mom to akmal’s madrasah graduation but rayhan managed to book out earlier than expected so he was able to come see the grad. but in the letter they said that they only allowed max of 2 people into the hall so i decided to just let my mom and rayhan go since tbh, i wasn’t wearing the proper attire to go in the masjid anyway. at first, i was kinda upset with my mom cus i didn’t see the point of me going if rayhan was going since only 2 people are allowed per child but then thinking of my mom going there on her own makes me worry a little since she’s rather frail so i decided to go with her and sent her to the masjid, waited for rayhan to come before making my way to bedok interchange.
it has been a rather long while since i’ve been to the interchange, or anyway really, on my own. i’m the kind of person that prefers having company than doing things alone. some may say that i lack independency but whatever it is, it’s always nice to have company. as i was walking around aimlessly in the mall, i thought of going to mcdonald’s to just lepak until my mom calls but it was too damn crowded and i missed the breakfast timing by a minute, so that was a bummer. but yeah, can you actually imagine me eating alone??? the last time i had to do that was back when i was working for YG at OG and taka, for my lunch break since i was working alone lol. but anyway, as i made my rounds at each levels, i finally decided to buy something to eat at old chang kee and then as i went back up the escalator, i thought of going to heartbeat but then again the thought of having to walk all the way there while i was socially sweating seems like a major no at that point so i decided not to and went to starbucks instead. alas, what a poor decision i’ve made. like literally, poor LOL cus i was $8.80 poorer after buying one of their christmas frappe lol and i didn’t even add whipped cream!! i should have said yes to whipped cream bc those are free unless you want extras, then you’ll have to pay. but anyway, the good thing is there was a lot of empty seats at starbucks which was quite weird considering that it’s a saturday but i was thankful cus it means that i didn’t have to stand awkwardly waiting for my mom to call.
so after i collected my drink, i sat down and i watched a couple episodes of chilling adventures of sabrina on netflix. luckily i downloaded a few so i managed to save on data haha but i didn’t think to bring my portable charger and my battery was getting pretty low after awhile. also i noticed that the person spelled my name as “hady” instead of “heidy” lol but wtvr doesn’t bother me. and then i think around 1+ almost 2, my mom called saying that they’re done with the ceremony and then asking me to go meet her and my cousins at this shop called new rezki and at first i was kinda lost and then well, my mom has this habit of like screeching her voice into the phone so it sounds like she’s shouting and/or raising her voice intensely like as though she’s mad and pissed at you but really, she’s not. i guess it’s a bad habit she picked up after countless “huh hello” whenever she called someone. but yeah, so i got a little bit upset cus the feeling’s not good when someone is raising their voice at you and i was wearing my earpiece for goodness sake so i kinda raised my voice a little too and then like i said, i was lost so she tried to direct me but LOL i ended up just googling and apparently it’s just right across the interchange, roughly about 4 mins walk as stated on map.
after seeing me, we all started ordering the food we wanted. akmal got fried noodles, rayhan had to watch what he eat cus he’s in NS and he’ll be punished if he gains weight instead of losing so he got a bowl of beef salad. my mom got bee hoon kuah and i got their mutton chop. it was ok but very oily for my taste so i don’t think i’ll ever buy that again unless i’m craving for it and if i’m nearby. it’s a dollar cheaper than the ones selling at thohirah though. oh and the shop is 24/7 too! i guess most, if not all, mamak eateries are 24/7. after we had our lunch, my mom bought some lauk back for my dad and for dinner and then we all headed back to the interchange. from there we split ways with my cousins cus they were taking the bus at the entrance of the mall, whereas we were taking the one at the interchange.
the moment i reached home, i quickly took a shower again and shampooed my hair cus i perspired earlier on and as i was changing i heard knocking on my window. i was so shook wtf cus i wasn’t expecting anyone but turns out it was farhan. like seriously what the heck.... LOL i was happy la but i was also very shock cus i thought he was gonna take the train but he actually took a grab all the way to my place instead. damn bobo la hahahaha and i wasn’t even fully ready yet even. so i rushed and did my usual face makeup and then let him in so he didn’t have to wait so long for me outside and then i did my usual going out routine. drying my hair, straightening a little, picking outfits and putting them together in my head. for some reason i was super duper indecisive about my outfit today. like idk why i couldn’t just grab and go like i usually do. and i also always will look through look books or style accounts and then visualize it in my head and i’m set but idk why the hell was i so damn frikin indecisive and fickle minded about my outfit today i kept changing and changing and then wearing different pieces together and shit and lol i finally ended up wearing the first outfit i tried which was just a black dress with a denim jacket. the sad thing is, the dress was kinda short and when i walk it gets even shorter so every now and then i had to pull it down but it’s really a cute dress though i think it’ll be nicer on someone shorter haha.
we walked to the bus stop and then went to tampines cus i had to get the brooch that my mom wants at isetan and while on the way there we were thinking of what to eat and looking through links that i’ve saved on facebook on different places we can go and eat at but most of them were either too far or too expensive and we don’t have that kind of money to throw on food yet, especially not when we still have 2 more weeks left till end of the month. after awhile, we decided to stop at tamp hub and eat at the thai shop, the one where we ate before. but lol the queue was so long and it seems like a long wait + majority of the tables were filled so we settled for tenderfresh. i felt like having fish so i got their grilled fish with aglio olio and farhan got the chicken chop one. i like their aglio olio!! it has this mild spice taste and farhan says that it’s kinda like mee goreng. overall, it was nice. their buffalo wings could be a little bit spicy though but it was still good! 😋
after our late lunch early dinner, we went to isetan to see the brooches but sadly there wasn’t anymore sale price and it was going at $19 per pin so i called my mom and ask if she still wants it and she said no cus it’s too expensive and if it was $9 like before it’ll still be ok. so we ended up not getting anything there. though now thinking about i felt like i should have just splurge my money to get her one brooch at least since she has been wanting it when she first noticed it last saturday.
afterwards, i casually mentioned genki before to farhan and he thought i was joking but lol we ended up taking the train and going to genki cus i said that i wanna satisfy my cravings. we went to the bugis outlet and surprisingly the queue was moving really fast. i got the ones i wanted and we spent less than 20 bucks there which was really unexpected but also good i guess. i’m so thankful that farhan was ok with splitting the bill even though he didn’t even eat a lot. then after that we walked from bugis to dhoby as usual and i wanted to walk even further down towards plaza sing bus stop but we saw another 65 coming so we decided to walk back towards the sota bus stop and take it there instead hehe.
i really enjoyed my day today with him. it has been a wonderful day and i hope that we will have more good happy days like these. i like how we shared our music interest while on the bus ride home, and then i was so in awe when i heard him rapping!!! he really look so cool at that moment hahaha like im not kidding. maybe i’m the only one who sees him and think that he’s cool la but hahaha wtvr 😂 i also like how we joked a lot and just sorta teased each other lol or maybe that was me bc i kacau him on the train ride towards bugis hahaha and his reactions are all so cute wth i just wanna squish him 🥰😍 and then i get to lay in his arms!!!! that’s always my fav part at the end of the day tbh. just being in his embrace hais.... oh and he went home really late (or should i say early lol) around 7am cus we had a hard time booking a grab!!! but also bc we were busy playing ml hahaah we were on a roll but had to stop since he hasn’t been home for the whole day and me too but like my house is just here ya know whereas he lives all the way at the other side hahaha so yeah i gotta get him back home and to sleep also since we didn’t get much sleep that night. one day i wanna try sneaking him into the house and letting him just sleep in my brother’s room or something after my dad’s asleep. but idk if i have the guts haha or maybe should do like that time when he stayed in my brother’s room till really late and we played games together and watched movies on netflix. that was fun too 😁
