Prologue (24 Dec '21): The Departure ~19k words 
Rush home to grab your things and head to JFK airport (why exactly are you so late for your flight?)
Bump into Nat, who offers to give you a ride to the airport, because they’re... just that kind of ride-or-die (literally) friend...?
Charm, beg, or name-drop your way into getting on that plane despite your horrifying tardiness. Or: miss your flight despite your best efforts (or maybe you weren’t trying that hard?) - and spend one more night in New York.
Chapter One (10 Jun '22): The Arrival | 24 Dec ~51k words
Have your lift hijacked by Shay, your neighbour’s new tenant
Eat your favorite Singaporean food
Participate in your family’s unique Christmas tradition [Paint some ugly santa figurines, or bake and karaoke to your heart’s content or play mahjong]
Call your old friend Joony, and get lost in memories of your junior-college* days... Qiu (no surprise here) features heavily in those memories.
Have a ‘midnight heart-to-heart’ with your brother. (or not!)
Chapter Two (28 Jan '23): Christmas Day | 25 Dec !~48k words
Attend Christmas dinner with the extended family. Get embroiled in some true soap opera-style drama.
Ride off from the family dinner with Shay on their motorbike (to your mother’s horror), to a live music venue. Meet their bandmates, dance with Shay or perform on stage with the band
Call Nat, reminisce about the first and last time Nat had come to visit Singapore, and fight for a possible future together.
Sit in the park and stare out into the ocean—and have a flashback about your 18th birthday spent with your high school first love / soulmate.
End Christmas with a bang (quite literally) in Shay’s apartment.
Chapter Four (01 Jul '23): Boxing Day | 26 Dec ~55k words
“Morning after” scene with Shay if you chose to stay over
Mountain bike ride with Shay
Flashback of The Incident with Qiu
Meet Qiu again for the first time in years—either at the reunion dinner with your high school classmates, or at the coffeeshop below your block (if you chose not to go to the dinner)

The Doctrine of Perseverance (Re)Announcement

The Doctrine of Perseverance is an indie horror and mystery game currently in development. It is being developed in RPG Maker MV and includes visual novel elements. A freeware demo was released in 2016. At the time of initial demo release, I was a senior in high school. Since then, I have spent many years developing my art and have returned to my first project. The game is still early in development, so everything is still subject to change, but I still hope you find interest in my project! I'd like to showcase some updated portraits from the 2016 version.

Melrose, the main character. The story begins on her thirteenth birthday (this portrait not yet shown), where a traumatic house fire takes place. Three years later, on Melrose's sixteenth birthday, the events of the past manifest themselves once again, showing that what happened on that day is far from over.

Suzetta, a childhood friend of Melrose. A stark contrast to Melrose, she is upbeat, mischievous, and more often than not, the most mature in their friend group. Her father is a close friend of Melrose's mom, Florence.

Silas is a friend of both Melrose and Suzetta and also Suzetta's neighbor. His family harbors distrust toward Melrose's family and the renowned 'founding families' in the city of Noxton.
For those interested in the previous rendition of the game, @flareblitzedyt has a great playthrough and playlist featuring it on Youtube. Although, I must advice that many story elements have changed since then.
The previous demo was taken down a couple of years ago, but the game page for it is still up. I intend to update it in the future. Thank you for reading, stayed tuned for additional information and screenshots!

Dev update for CT:OS and Merry Crisis
Hi guys! Sorry it's been a while!
Life update
I've been so busy at work that I've barely had time to rest and hang with friends and family, let alone write as much as I need. I've still been spending some of my weekends writing, but rapidly discovering how little I can get done with just 5 or 6 hours of writing per week. (Crazy how much time IF-writing takes haha)
It's just peak busy period for my job right now before holiday season and things will calm down in December.
CT:OS
As y'all may know, I had been hoping to release the update in early Nov for early release folks and mid Nov for public folk.
I am still aiming to squeeze out the CT:OS update by end of Nov or early Dec and I wanted to let you all know where I'm at!
The scenes are about 95% written (all the way up to the end of the matches currently, I'm just finishing up the win/lose reactions and editing)!!
As of right now, the new update stands at a mammoth 90k+ words with code, but I think something like 35-40k in a playthrough, and there are new RO kisses for all ROs :)
The good news despite these delays is that this update (far from being a short pt. 2), is actually meaty enough to really stand as its own update.
Merry Crisis
I'll update again when I have a bit of a sense when CT:OS is done and how busy my December looks.
Ko-fi
Finally, because I don't want ko-fi folk to be paying out of pocket for this month as its taking a bit longer than expected, I will be refunding ko-fi monthly payments from beginning of Nov until the next update, which I hope will be before Dec.

Toady One, from the Dwarf Fortress Development Log:
We posted an Adventure mode beta over on Steam. There are lots of good bits to it but some missing bits as well, so we're slowing rolling it out this time, while still letting more people test it out and have some fun. A lot of the Adventure mode experience is there. You can currently, in the released beta, create a party in character generation, visit your old forts, retire, unretire, get NPC companions, take quests, fight monsters with the various melee/wrestling/ranged options, set fires, tell stories, and travel the world. Portraits are available for dwarves, humans, elves, goblins, kobolds (minus some clothing variations), animal people (no items), and necromancer experiments (no items). These portraits are in both modes. So there's fun to be had, but there's quite a bit more to do before we'll do the full launch. Non-exhaustively: Clean up the big crash issues etc. Quest log / information screen Butchering and crafting Ability use, from necromancy to pet animal to spit Composing Motion/attack indicators Building interactions (levers, doors, etc.) Wrestle button Stealth vision arcs Better UI for stuff like going through hatches over ramps Some other info like movement speed / encumbrance Tracking / odor / weather / light / time etc. information Some travel map stuff like visible armies and zooming and highlights Minimap / map memory Trading and bartering (and the town shops being generally a mess) Assuming false identities Full personality customization in chargen Graphics and audio that didn't make it in for the initial beta release Get Classic conversions for the new buttons etc. The new stuff: chosen mode with deities, town improvements, dungeon improvements, healing options, and so forth As we mentioned before, cabin building is a larger interface project, so that'll come with the update after the full launch. dev log - april 28 2024
good evening...everyone.....here to report that this guy IS DONE THEIR FINALS AND IS BACK HOME. meaning i will be working on Vanguard much more frequently <33 it was a crazy year for me, and i am so glad to be back home man wow i don't know if it's legal to have five finals but who knows. i've had lots of ideas for what i want to accomplish this summer, so i thought i'd just give a general update on where i'm at/what's really going on since Vanguard has been sitting woefully in the corner of Twine for like four months (mostly) untouched.
IN PROGRESS - hope to complete by the end of summer latest
character voice claims / head canons! think i've mentioned this briefly (maybe), but i've been slowly compiling voices i think fit the VG bunch. i still have Charles, Vio, and Kiera to go, and i need to find a better voice for Vera. but. stay tuned.
reworking the entirety of the game formatting. this includes fixing font colours to be more readable, revamping the character creation, and solving the mystery of why on EARTH the sidebar covers the screen on mobile.
CHAPTER ONE!!!!! and complete the MC's profile in game
completing character profiles on the blog
FUTURE PLANS - not sure when these will be done/IF they'll be done
drawing up "official" portraits for the VG bunch to add to the itch.io page. would all be consistent busts most likely.

also just drawing more in general lolz... there has been a severe lack of Nia and Kiera content and that is NOT good!!

As a fellow student and coding enthusiast, I know how important it is to have a supportive community that can offer guidance and motivation. The community here are super supportive and caring about each other coding journeys!!
That is why @vexacarnivorous created this server, to provide a space where we can all come together and help each other achieve our academic and coding/programming goals.
