Sky: Children of the Light au I've been working on with the lovely @applestruda! We've given it the name Desert Skies AU :)
--
Grian was, in his humble opinion, far too kind for his own good.
He'd risked light and limb to guide moths through the treacherous golden wastelands, to hold their hand and to run while the dark dragon wasn't looking. He guided moths through the storm to the red thunderous skies of Eden, through the rocks and the krills and finally, through the stars. All so that they wouldn’t have to be alone– not like he had been, on that first fateful journey through the storm.
So yes, Grian was far too kind. He couldn’t help it; when he saw a moth asking for help or struggling through the sands, he saw a bit of his younger self in them. He was always willing to lend a little light to those who offered their candles. He was always willing to hold out a guiding hand, to shine his directing light toward sanctuary.
How could he resist offering a healing light to the moth that had just flown face first into the wall?
…wait. That– that was most certainly not a moth. The shimmering green cape told Grian otherwise, as did the soft giggle that rang out as his new companion shook out his wings. “Thank you very much, friend! My name’s Scar, how about you?” Scar stuck out his hand, and Grian stared for a moment before reaching out and taking it.
“Grian.” He offered a smile. “Sorry, I mistook you for a moth– had quite the landing there, huh?”
Scar shrugged, dusting the sand off his pants. “Yeah, that happens! Quite a lot, actually. You know how you just get distracted looking at all the pretty things and thinking to yourself and then–!” He clapped his hands together– “wham! Wall to the face! That’s how I got this lil thing, actually!” He pointed to the crack in his mask.
“I see… well, I was just about to start regathering the winged light I lost in Eden.” Grian shrugged his shoulders, letting his wings flutter slightly with the movement. “It gets lonely, traveling without a companion.” And more dangerous. Traveling alone meant you didn't have another person to recharge your wings, meant you were alone if the krill caught you, meant the darkness was just that much more scary. “Would you like to come with?”
Scar hummed in thought. “Well, I did lose quite a bit of light to that silly little dragon in the wastelands… and you seem pretty nice, so yeah! I'll join you on your perilous journey!” He struck a heroic pose. “The spirits will tell of our heroic deeds for eons to come!”
Grian let out a weary chuckle, shaking his head slightly. He wasn't very used to the excitement and energy that he was getting from Scar, not from people who weren't moths at least. “I really doubt we'll be doing anything very heroic, Scar. And it's not all that dangerous, for the most part. Even the wastelands have their sanctuaries.” He offered his hand to Scar.
Scar took his hand, letting out a happy honk. “Well then, I'll be putting my trust in you!” Light shimmered down his green wings, reflecting off the glistening cave walls. “My light is in your hands!”
Grian snorted, leading them toward the exit. “A terrifying thought.”
The Isle of Dawn was a peaceful place to fly. Calm skies stretched over golden sand, sunlight glinting off of the rocks and shining from old spirits that Grian helped with soft words and a guiding hand. It was not his favorite place to fly; nor did it boast the sights of the prairie, the mystique of the forest, the entertainment of the valley or the knowledge of the vault. Nonetheless, Scar seemed so taken in by the land that Grian had to laugh softly. Scar's reaction reminded him of when he was a moth, and of the many moths he had guided before.
They had just landed in front of the last winged light before the temple, and Scar glanced over at Grian in mild confusion as he gathered the light into his wings. “Somethin' wrong?” he asked, tilting his head slightly to the side.
Grian shook his head, waving Scar off. “No, no, I just… you just… It was like this was your first time here, in the isle. It just reminded me of… me, I guess. When I was a moth.” And what a time that had been. Back when he was new to the world, when he wasn't aware of the dangers that lurked not only in the darkness but in the children of light themselves.
Scar seemed to perk up at that. “It's just so fascinating to me. I mean, there's so much empty space, it's like a blank canvas!”
Grian let out a confused note. “What do you mean by that?”
Scar made a grand, sweeping gesture with his hand. “I've always wondered what it was like, building everything. I mean, of course, things didn't just pop up out of nowhere, right? It's all pretty much ruins now, but some things are still around! It just makes me wonder…”
Grian laughed softly. “Our job isn't to build, Scar.” It's to bring light to the ones lost to the darkness.
“Yeah,” Scar conceded, before gazing toward the sky, “but what if it was?” He turned back to Grian, practically jumping up and down. “I've always pictured myself building these huge castles in the sand. Ones that stretch toward the sun, with big bells and shining inscriptions and–!”
“And what would you call these castles, Scar?” Grian asked, a light humor in his voice.
“Oh, I dunno. Monopoly Mountain has a nice ring to it, don't you think?”
“What– what even is a monopoly? Are those even possible?” Grian did have to admit, though. The sound of Monopoly Mountain was quite pleasing for a reason he couldn't quite place.
Scar shrugged. “No idea! I just like the word.”
After that thrilling conversation, Grian had once more offered his hand to Scar before taking off into the sky. He had to admit that the skies did seem a little brighter with Scar's hand in his. It has been a while since he had flown with someone who didn't struggle to keep their wings extended, who didn't quite know how to steer yet. It had been a long time since Grian had flown beside someone who spoke with such ease and a cheerful, carefree attitude. It had been so long since Grian had let himself relax while flying with another person.
Something about Scar was different. He hardly even knew the man and yet already he felt a sort of kinship to him. It made Grian wonder. Had it not been for his original group of friends and that fateful trip to Eden, would he have turned out like Scar? Happy, carefree, dreaming of a world in which he could build towering structures? If he hadn't been so desperate to prove himself, to keep the only 'friends' he had, what would he have been like?
No point in thinking of that now. Bitter words tasted like sour candy in his mouth, and Grian let out a quiet sigh. Stretching out his wings, he felt the wind buffet against him as he slowly began their descent to the temple. Landing gently on soft grass, Grian gazed up at the temple for a moment before leading Scar in.
They briefly split to light the candles on either side of the temple before lighting the door, and stepping into the elder spirit's room. It was a simple matter to light the candle placed at the shrine and watch as the door opened with a loud rumble, to stifle soft laughter at Scar's enthusiastic interest in the workings of the door. Then Scar was taking Grian's hand again, and they were off once more into the sky.
Scar let out an excited woop as they soared over the clouds, stretching his arms out as far as they could go. He didn't let go of Grian's hand, and the warmth was a welcome one. Despite the clouds, the air currents were easy to navigate, and to Grian flying was second nature. “Have you flown with others before?” he asked, his voice cutting through the wind.
Scar glanced up at him, white hair whipping around and blowing in his face. “Huh? Uhh, yeah, a couple times! Mostly by myself though, or just following someone. It's fun!”
Grian laughed alongside Scar this time, shaking his own pale hair back. “Yeah. Ever fly with moths?”
Scar gasped melodramatically, the sound almost lost completely to the wind. “Nooo, never.” His voice turned sheepish. “I tend to avoid moths. Don't want them thinking I'm a good role model, now! If I helped guide them, you'd see a lot more people smashing head first into walls.”
Grian snorted. “Yeah, not many people wanna deal with moths. I know those who will help out when they can, if they see someone struggling for light in the hidden forest, but when it comes to actually guiding them? Taking them through the Wastelands or Eden? Yeah, they're running away faster than you can offer your light.”
“Exactly!” Scar's wings fluttered as they began to descend, tucking in a little closer to help reduce their air resistance. Once they were close to the ground, Scar spread his wings when Grian did, slowing their descent so that the landing was soft. “Hey, we make a good team!”
Grian's wings fluttered into place as he took in a deep breath, turning his face toward the sun. After a moment, he snapped out of his trance and glanced over at Scar before leading them down the worn path. “I didn't have to yell at you to not slam yourself face first into the ground. That's a plus in my book.” His tone was light hearted and teasing, but there was an air of relief around him.
Scar waved his hand, tutting softly. “Pshaw, do I really look like someone who would– uh oh–!” Before he could even finish his sentence, he tripped over a rock, let go of Grian's hand, and fell face first into the grass. “...don't. Don't you start–”
Grian had to hold back laughter as he helped Scar up, silent as his shoulders shook. “You have to admit,” he began, his voice shaking from contained laughter, “that was quite the comedic timing on your part.” He almost lost it at the way Scar huffed and crossed his arms. “Oh, come on, don't be like that!”
Scar turned away slightly, grumbling loudly. “How am I supposed to have a sense of pride in these conditions?” he complained, though his tone made it clear he wasn't actually upset. “The spirits must have something against me. You know, I bet they were talkin' to themselves, saying how 'oh, it would be super funny if Scar tripped and fell!' Well, I hope it was! I hope they're all laughing!” Scar spread his arms as though he were pleading to the sky. “Oh, dear ancestors, why have you forsaken me?!”
At that, Grian could not hold back his laughter. He bent over, clutching his sides as he howled with amusement. “Scar!” he got out, gasping for breaths in between laughing fits, “Scar, it's not– I promise you, the ancestor spirits do not hate you. Oh my– oh my goodness, okay. Oh, man…” He straightened back up, running a hand through his hair as some leftover giggles worked their way out. “You're a dramatic one, aren't you?”
“You know it!” Scar's exclamation was every bit of pride, and he once more struck a heroic pose, putting his hands on his hips and taking a wide stance. “Drama's what they call me back home.”
Grian tilted his head slightly, offering his hand again. “And where is home, exactly?” Despite trying to put on an air of casual indifference, Grian was curious. Where has someone like Scar come from? Were there others like him? What was his life like? Grian found himself unusually intrigued by his new companion, and he really wanted to know more.
The answer was a slightly disappointing one, though it was common. Scar simply shrugged. “Wherever the wind takes me!” he said, taking Grian's hand and making sure to watch where he was walking.
“Hear, hear,” Grian mumbled, and that was the last of that conversation.
Their time in the prairie was spent, for the most part, collecting winged light, candles, exploring the area, and talking. Given that they were going to be traveling together for the next spirits know how long, the more they knew about each other the better. More for them to relate to, more for them to talk about. Silence was a traveler's greatest enemy, after all.
Of course, Grian got sidetracked once or twice when a moth asked him for help– he had always been too kind for his own good. Nevertheless, it was a successful trip, and Grian found that he had laughed more that day than he had in a while. When they both began to grow tired, Grian suggested that they go to the Sanctuary Islands to rest and recover, which Scar happily agreed with.
“Oh man, let me tell you. The first time I came here I was all like 'woah, this is so cool, I'm gonna fly around here forever' but it's just so peaceful that all I wanted to do was lay down in the sand and sleep.” Scar glanced over at Grian, who was relaxing in the white chair next to him. “Do you come here often?”
Grian hummed softly. “It really depends on if I'm with a moth or not. Most of the time I am, so then it's a question of whether or not the moth has the patience to gather four spirits. Sometimes they do, a lot of the times they just want to run straight ahead for the next area.” He chuckled. “I've learned not to push it with those types. Little speedsters, that lot.”
“So you've just made it your job to guide moths, then?” Scar shifted so that his elbows were resting on one arm of the chair, leaning closer to Grian. “What made you choose to do that?”
Grian's steady breathing hitched ever-so-slightly, unnoticeably, and if Scar had been looking closely, he would've noticed how Grian briefly tensed up. “Oh, you know.” His voice was a little more strained when he spoke, though he hid it with practiced ease. “I don't want some fresh faced moth to get caught up with some not so nice people. And besides, I have plenty of time on my hands! I've done… pretty much everything there is to do.” He tried to ignore how he sounded a little sad with that last statement.
Shaking his head, Grian turned to Scar. “What do you do, Mister Drama? What areas do you frequent?”
Scar sat back in his chair with a big sigh. “Oh, y'know! The usual, really. I pretty much just stick to the Isle of Dawn and the prairie… sometimes I go into the wasteland but…” He sat up and turned to show Grian the back of his wings and the few light marks that ran down the middle. “It usually doesn't end very well. You'd think I'd learn to dodge. Or run. Or, well, not get seen by the krill in the first place but–!” He stretched out as he leaned back into his chair. “Just another learning experience.”
Grian nodded, gazing off into the distance as a light creature breached from the water, soaring into the sky before arcing gracefully back into the waves. “Learning experience indeed.”
Silence may have been a traveler's worst enemy, but the silence that sat between Scar and Grian was a comfortable one. There would be time for noise later, but for now, it was time to rest.
And so, the sun set, marking an end to the day that would forever change the course of their flight.

Imagine... reincarnation au with yandere!raiden ei who just can't seem to have you in any life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or well, any of your lives to be exact as fate had preordained an endless cycle of gain and loss for her, ever so saved from the chilly embrace of death, of erosion. That's not to say your first ‘life’ with her was exactly determined to have an eventual parting—far from that and this (self) assurance ultimately created the deathliest crack on her trust in immortality.
You were a little different back in those days splattered with blood and ichor but, what remained eternal was the humanity and the reflection of an undefiled soul in your eyes—and which, she fell in love with. Despite the surges of elemental currents flowing through your body and an aura that suggested a little more, you had a heart and a pair of [e/c] eyes more humane than any mortals' and every one of your glances that shook Ei to her core was directed at her.
It was only natural, she'd admitted. Only someone as gentle and peaceful as Makoto could hope to hold your attention, adoration and perhaps that beautiful heart, too? Only someone as true as Raiden Makoto could stand beside you, after all. Ei had not complained or allowed even the littlest of these feelings to escape ; the occasional conversations you shared with her and the accidental brushes of your hand against hers was enough to keep her satisfied. If it's Makoto, she didn't mind. If it's you, she would keep her desires locked for another five thousand years. But what is she expected to do or to feel when you end the promise of an eternity alongside her sister?
She searches for another, one unbound by the fleeting nature of the world, one unrestricted by the humane emotions, an unchanging, perennial eternity carved from the same dream. To achieve that she'd forsake anything : her body, her emotions and even take away her people's ambitions.
Following that, many things had transpired. One such day with the Sakuko Decree in effect, as she strolled through the almost deserted paths of Narukami on a rare break from her endless meditation and saw her sanctuary through the puppet's eyes, she noticed a tense figure draped in silks suggesting otherwise of being a foreigner. Upon advancing closer, the figure of you garbed in costly Inazuman clothing and the ever so luminescent pair of [e/c] threw her whole world upside down.
Had the icy heart of the Heavenly Principles finally thawed upon her tireless work to achieve Eternity? Was this the reward, the second chance she'd so begged to receive? Unable to control her excitement she practically leaped towards you and called out your name. You responded with a visage painted with confusion and startle, questioning how she knew but then you mirrored her earlier urgency, quickly adding that you were lost and in search of your husband.
Huh. It seemed like your endearing ditz remained unchanged, too. Though soon she found some less endearing things leaking through your posture ; your flighty glances around the vicinity, twirling of thumbs and a look of silent panic barely contained. She was confused now, what exactly were you so frightened for? Beasts and monsters? Or nobushis harboring ill intent? Or was it the Shogunate?
The answer to that could wait though. Right now, her top priority was to keep you safe and make sure not to repeat the same mistake this time. So, she offered you residency at the Tenshukaku and a promise to send a guard to find your...your.....husband?
The realization dawns on her along with a bone-chilling chime. In seconds your body is blocked by another and a reflection electrifies her stare. Her very own creation stands before her, with you in his grasp and the weight of your relationship with him resounds like a koto's broken string.
It seemed like the Heavenly Principles had a whole array of unfunny jokes set for her.

The witches are back! And we're bringing you the second round of community recs for this month. We hope January has been kind to you so far and that you take some time for yourself this weekend to read something that makes you happy. Be sure to leave those creators some love.
==============
Anything for Us (SweetSirius/@wordthieve) “High school/college AU that is the slowest of burns, but pays off in an incredible way.  Just the right amount of angst and pining, with a very sweet and sexy ending.”
As he is, with me (@obsessedwithdavrick) WIP “I love how it places Patrick in a very believably innocent/naive place, with his strict religious upbringing.  David helping him navigate all of that and progressing in their relationship is so touching.”
Have you met my family (thesuperdandy) “The writing is gorgeous. Poetic and precise. A lovely and layered glimpse into David and Patrick's love.”
Johnny On The Spot (bl_anche73) “I love post canon and anything to do with David going home with Patrick to his parent's. This has Marcy and Clint and all the crazy Brewer cousins. Patrick is so happy to be home but even more happy to be home with his husband who is loved by Patrick’s family. There’s really good David introspection as he is still wrapping his head around the fact that he has a new family that loves and accepts him. It’s just such a lovely story.”
Rose from the ashes (@likerealpeopledo-on-ao3) “A David and Patrick Fyre Fest/desert island AU? Yes please. Excellent writing, and outstanding pacing that just gallops along. Sweet, hot, harrowing, and emotional. It's a really fun ride!” You're the sanctuary (ElainaFairchild) “This is a wonderful collection of vignettes about our boys and the different ways they show their love for each other. It's a romantic, tender, lovely read.”

Of Magic, Miracles, and Moonlight
Doctor Stephen Strange's life has settled into a fulfilling pattern; even as Master of the New York Sanctum, he continues his studies in the mystic arts, self-training with the library that the Ancient One amassed in her years as Sorcerer Supreme. An old alliance forged by the Ancient One brings an unexpected request to him, and he is duty bound to fulfill it. Along the way he meets with some pleasant surprises--and discovers that his heart is not immune to the effects of the gentlest sorts of magic.

Seraphina DiPietro is wise in the ways of the world; she has to be, as she travels the California coast as a torch singer in pubs, bars and nightclubs. She knows how to take care of herself and stay out of trouble--most of the time. When trouble comes, it's usually because her kind heart overrides her common sense. Stopping to check on a handsome stranger, stranded roadside in the Mojave Desert, her curiosity is piqued as much by the classic, mint-looking Mustang, as by the driver--a tall, dark mysterious drink of water, whom she quickly learns is so much more than what he appears.

Major Jamie Stewart is a survivor--but sometimes he just needs to escape. The guilt, the pain, the despair; his bitter fall due to folly and hubris. It helps to survive if one has a sanctuary to turn to, a dream to hold onto. A vision of a day--and a woman--that might grant him the salvation he desperately craves.
bookcover for The One That Got Away created by @onebuttscratcher
An actress making her name for herself on the London stage, Virgilia (Vicki) Gordon vows not to follow her usual pattern: falling in love with her leading man. The work comes first and foremost--or so she plans. She never expects to develop feelings for her co-star in "The Taming of the Shrew", but with his stellar talent matched by his charm, kindness and intellect, Vicki learns all too soon that, despite one's best intentions, the heart goes where it will. Still, all might be well--but he is far from free enough to return her affections.

Romance & Passion. Mystery & ties to the Supernatural. Lust & Erotica. NSFW material, so be forewarned. A young Scottish woman of ancient Selkie blood finds herself irresistibly drawn to her dashing British professor, with his own mysterious ties to the Sea. A serial womanizer who believes his inner darkness makes him unredeemable, he finds what seems an uncorruptable innocence in the love she freely offers--eventually coming to wonder if her light might be enough to save him from his demons.

HEY!!! YOU!!!! SECRET KEEPER AU???? 👀 ITS SO COOL!!!!! IM INSANE ABOUT IT
uwahhhh thankie!!! :D it’s been driving me insane since I thought about the idea. here’s scar just,,,, trapped in stone. stuck. and there’s literally nothing he can do unless someone coughs, grian, remembers him and puts the pieces together. like it’s !!!!!
I’m also stuck on the idea of grian’s altered memories of the life games… especially third life and double life. there’s just this feeling of something being wrong. he remembers the desert, but it feels so… big. why would he want to take over the desert anyway? that’s not the way he plays. and the base, he made it so spacious, but it was just him there. right?
and then double life??? remembering the keep, but not the panda sanctuary, knowing that he had a soulmate but wondering if they didn’t want to team with him. it’s all so !!!!
the concept of everyone’s memories being messed with to forget scar makes me insane. it makes me SO insane
and scar is just there!!!! watching it all!!!!!! he is made into a literal watcher for this game and trapped. he’s living in a new kind of loneliness and it’s terrible. it’s the unknown. because no one knows that he exists.
yet grian keeps staring at the statue, keeps trying to figure things out. and that gives scar hope

Plague Monarch! Cha Hae-In AU
Tumblr media
(I have a lot of thoughts about her zombie control and bugs in general)
Backstory!
At a young age she was very timid so she didn't get along well with other kids or had a lot of strong friends in her life.
She often just passed her time catching butterflies and looking a ant burrows. The little workers fascinated her a lot.
Her mother owned a flower shop and she tended to take care of some honeybees in their backyard. Cha having lived with those bees often had her hands full of them and named the queen Arsha.
When she sprined her ankle during a race, she couldn't run a lot, but liked to be more outside than inside, so her best next destination was to walk around the forest near her home. It felt tranquil and she got to carry a lot more bugs. Sometimes she even let them crawl on her arms, hands and face.
After her mother was admitted to a hospital due to her illness, the Eternal Sleep, she couldn't keep earning a lot of money by being a third rate athlete, and she felt a new power had awaken in her body, so the next best thing she got was to become a Hunter.
Of course, her life wasn't really all that lucky. She got the lowest rank from all Hunters. E rank. With a power level of 15.
It was truly a miserable existence for her during the past 3 years.
She felt as tiny as bug, sometimes even literally as she had to resort to tricks, biting and nail clawing her way out of her situations.
Three years had passed and she already passed the nickname of "The Bug Hunter" due to her her being so weak that she could easily be squashed like a Bug. But also like a Bug she managed to survive despite all the odds.
Insignificant, and yet always crawling on for survival.
But eventually, her luck had run out.
... or maybe it hadn't
D Rank Arc:
The dungeon was filled with giant bugs only found possibly in Red Gates, or maybe something worse.
Whatever this place was, she defiantly saw it as a sanctuary of sorts for all kinds of huge insects whose bodies where made from plants and tiny other bugs compiling bigger corpses.
It was due to her knowledge about insects in general that she even managed to get so far before she was finally struck down by a Bee.
However she still didn't want to die, and in her last moments, she started eating them. (Hahaha SL R refrence)
Her body slowly consuming every single bug until she could no longer go on, yet at that point she had succeeded the trial predestined to her from the start.

"Guess I'm starting from zero huh..."
Her first day was extremely confusing, the chief Woo Jin-Cheol from the surveillance division had retold the story of her being the only survivor in a deserted place, with no injuries whatsoever except for the huge wound around her heart, that no matter how hard they tried to heal, it kept still showing up. But it wasn't of any big deal either since she still survived from that. Then he asks if she reawakened, they measure her, and no, she hasn't. Thus the two assosiation members leave as fast as they came.
Cha didn't get a punishment because she thought "well everything is already weird, and I haven't had a proper workout in a long time so..."
Workout Arc!
A prerequisite to good bodies is the requirement for great workouts that enable the player to reach the very limits of her body and even surpass them!
Of course since Hae-In had already trained as an Athelete before, most of the workouts that changed daily [Endurance, Resistance, Jumps, Cardio, etc—] would be a piece of cake for her to go through.
What were the hardest parts of the daily quest where in fact, the extra dungeon that she would go through every day to test if her workout had done her favors.
Haein tended to be very embarrassed when talking to Miss Choi Yoora about why she always came covered in goo of sorts. And why she smelled so bad.
[You have killed 'Arbogenius Mantis' ]
[You have obtained: The Arbogenious Claw!]
It was bigger than what she expected, a sword made from one of the strongest claws of the monster she faced.
Huh. Guess she now has to start learning swordsmanship.
Lizards Arc!
A few changes are made from the original story obviously, for one she doesn't enter a C rank dungeon yet, especially when the enlistment was too sketchy. Later on Cha, as she is watering her plants suddenly gets called from the assosiation that they need another member ASAP because one Hunter hasn't assisted today.
So she goes and eventually meets up with new people that she feels she has heard from before, although she can't pinpoint from where.
Lee Ju-Hee is the first to talk to her, she is nice and sweet and has a very strong aroma, far stronger than the others.
When she gets close is when Haein notices that her nose has developed far more than before. At first she would often be around low rank hunters and their smell could only be picked up if she got close enough to them. Even then the smell would be as awful as someone who hasn't showered.
Now, respectfully she felt the smell of the B rank healer was like getting close to a trashcan.
'Oh god. And if I'm going to level up more, doesn't that mean I'll have to be around Hunters that smell worse???'
These powers really were to good to be true!!
Apart from the new finding, she also got to meet a swordsman Song Chi-Yul who could help her train.
And she got to level up more by fighting the dungeon boss.
Overall a normal raid with normal people and some false ranker totally not noticing her skills are way too over the top for someone who is a simple E rank.
False Ranker Match Arc!
Over the time Cha had sustained quite the popularity in the negative way, so when she was suddenly sees as more powerful than before, the eyes seemed to shift quickly with curiosity.
The strongest moment where this happened was when a false ranker had appeared in front of her and challenged her to reveal her true status.
This false ranker was none other than Nam Chae Young, an E rank Archer hidding her true potential. Fortunately it was far less than Hae-In who had just reached the strenght of a top C ranker. Nam Chae Young offers her to help Haein hide her identity if she lets Nam live and Cha is... tempted. Nam hasn't done anything bad at all but she still is a false ranker, so she asks why she is hiding her true potential and Nam replies that it's easy money for someone to enter low rank dungeons while also having the stenght enough to beat a few goblins. And if she were to awaken as a C rank she would be put into more dangerous raids which is not what she really wants to sign up for.
But, if Cha is strong, stupidly strong enough to even fight her one on one, have skills like sprint, healing and posion on her and still get rid of the monsters around them without loosing much HP (lies she needed to replenish her HP with those bottles quite a lot) thennn, they can just make a few fake raids and both of them will get what they want.
Cha hae in will get her animosity and be able to level up inside dungeons without any problems
And Nam will be able to make quick bucks by gathering the 'strike squad'she needs, since we'll, she has quite a lot of friends for being so strong.
(And Cha may be a bit irritated that she does need her help, but hey as long as she can keep her mouth shut, no problemo)
Job Change Arc!
It takes quite a lot of side quests and dungeons before Cha finally achieves Level 50.
The event suddenly happened as she was still training with Chi Yul. The old man almost managed to strike her weak spot due to Haein being distracted by the screen, making Juhee and him worry a bit.
She couldn't tell them the truth so Cha texted Nam to help her get out of the situation and creating a perfect excuse in the process ("all that lying to the assosiation really works for something!" "Unnie... =_=")
Juhee understood and said that she will wait for her until tomorrow then, since Juhee will be leaving then in the airport.
In the meantime Haein was to finish the quest In less than a day.
As she enter she found herself in a.... normal house.
Well this was confusing.
Walking through it she realized this was her old home, with everyone gone and every single plant that she and her mother had cared for completely dried and dead.
Cha followed her gut feeling to go outside of the house where the Bee colony she used to care for once lived.
There it was, the first monster and the strongest she had ever seen before:
[Queen Bee Arsha]
Hah... So an old friend.
After much trouble she managed to kill Arsha, her body composed of thousands of bees was the worst kind of enemy that Cha had ever thought to face. Had she not remembered how a Queen bee looked like and killed it, then she would have died from trying to kill every single bee.
First came her fight in a tropical zone, a huge forest where all kinds of bugs and poison lurked withing.
No matter how much she tried to stab them and kill them, they always came back. And if she sliced them in half they will grow more.
[Eat them]
[Devour them]
[Devour your enemies.]
[Become stronger with their blood.]
The memories of the double dungeon cane back, seeing as this was the only answer that she could think of, Cha began to eat the heart of each bug until her body was at its limit and the venom was paralizing her entire body.
[You can only grow so far by being human]
[You aren't the only one who wants to live]
[You aren't the only one who will crawl for scraps in order to survive]
[They called you a cockroach for outlasting Death]
[They called you a parasite for the sake of letting your mother live another day]
[They called you a bug for being so weak.]
[So, are you now? Are you really as weak as they all say?]
[Or don't you want to prove them wrong once and for all?]
And then
[Penalty quest]
[HP:1]
[Good Luck]
For four hours she had to survive against a new wave of monsters now, but these weaker than her. These were big and had many points were she could strike.
And she was small, she was fragile, a single punch— nein, scratch could instantly kill her.
[Skill: Poison activated!]
[Skill: Hunger activated!]
But she was going to survive this one.
Extra content!
Woo Jin-Cheol: I need to asks a few questions for your rank re evaluation. First: what class are you?
Cha Hae-In: *looks at status window* umm Parasite??
Woo Jin-Cheol:... what
Cha Hae-In: wait no, Plague Monarch.
Woo Jin-Cheol:...
Cha Hae-In: *looks at the detox skill and her HP bottles* Just put healer.
______________
Beru: *Bites*
Cha Hae-In: *Bites back*
The entire Korean team: ????
________________
*Cha Hae-In being called a bug*
Queresha: That one. That one. I want that one.
*Antares may just be sulking in the back who knows*
Cha Hae In and her beautiful army of Bugs~~
The way she brings them out is actually quite nasty, but efficient! By drawing blood from herlsef! (You see she is technically one with her bugs now, the ones she eats, so to summon them she has to like, let her blood fall and thus bugs come out of said blood/or are made from that)
So for most of the story Cha has to get quite beaten up before her power fully appears.
In her first S rank Dungeon, the Winter Kingdom, she managed to earn a pair of wings.
While fighting Arsha she got [Queen's Control] which was technically like Ruler's Touch but she would eventually learn to handle it in a more versatile way that let her grab on to more than two things from far away.
This is technically withing the Canon SL minus the change of Haein. So at some point she does meet the Shadow Monarch who is... working as a miner? In the Hunter’s guild??Guild???
The system is asking to not interact with the other players as much but like, what could go wrong? So Cha tries to catch his attention after lunch and — Yo why is he going to the boss dungeon???
Eh???
WAIT IS HE GONNA FIGHT IT ?????
If she didn't catch him in time the whole dungeon would have gone into chaos, so Cha decides to go tomorrow to the raid.
Who wants to a porter?
Both raise their hand.
They make a paper rock sissor game and Jinwoo wins.
Ah so long leveling up her bugs—
Not 5 minutes later and she can already feel some disaster is about to start due to the smell of the gate becoming more strong. She calls upon Chief Woo saying if she has permittion to go.
"No."
"But."
"Miss Cha it is important you do not get involved with him."
">:("
He doesn't want another S rank fight in the middle of nowhere. He just dealt with two already.
With the Wings Haein got she was able to almost be everywhere at the speed of light and fly anywhere she wanted.
She flew to Busan to meet Juhee,
then to where her mother was to bring her the water of the Echo spring forest, sadly it needs the demon bloods king.
(And jinwoo also needs the Echo spring water.)
and she even flew to Jeju to meet the ants :D
What the heck they are able to fly too?!?!
Jeju island goes... well? I mean she didn't expect she had to fight both humans and ants in one day. Goto was planning to kill them, and Haein had to suffer some Ant King trying to take her throne away from her. Not that she will ever let him.
But she had to keep fighting these two until Jinwoo finally came, defeated the with Hae-In’s help and the Koreans as well as the Japanese were able to live.
But how?
Why?
[Skill: Parasite Worm is activated]
Essentially the Japanese that died, haein managed to cure their corpses of any injuries with some generation abilities, and then with the help of the Parasite worms, she could brainwash them to do whatever she wanted.
One of these things where for the worms to give them back some sort of consciousness and keep acting like normal people until Haein needed their help.
(Unlike the summoning from her blood, these ones will just use the host they inhabit to personally do whatever task they need. They are basically just zombies but don't look the part. They dont even know it themselves at times ~)
In the whole exchange JinWoo was horrified.
Beru got his personality by absorbing Cha's blood since he bit her. Due to her regeneration she was fine but Jinwoo didn't like hearing that at all.
If Queresha is being honest, she never wanted a successor, she just wanted and needed a vessel. She still needs it too. But this one right here seems to be very strong in her own way. Her tenacity reminds her to when she was a small bug too, the weakest of her kind able to rise to this extent.
And she can't help but be proud that her vessel has come so far.
But at some point she has to choose.
[The Double Dungeon is calling you again. To where it all started.]
[Can you devour the Monarch whole this time?]
[Or will this be your deathbed?]

If either sanctuary or pet au caretaker smoked weed, how would the pets react since its not bad but its still kinda classified as a drug in other places. Or maybe they smoke it for stress or to help them quit cigarettes, do the pets hate the smell do others try to smoke it too?
Really depends on the amount that they're taking. If they're smoking so much weed that they're basically prone on the couch for longer than expected, the pets will learn to not like the smell and get the Caretaker away from it, or at least try and get rid of some of them so the Caretaker doesn't smoke so much.
It's fun in small doses, but the fun will be spoiled if it's a genuine addiction. I treat weed in the same way I treat deserts, nice in small doses, very concerning and evidence of an underlying problem if taken by a lot.
That being said, the only thing in my head is Leona trying it and just being even more lazy, but doesn't really close his eyes. He just, sits there, staring off into space, but still make noises if the Caretaker is too far away, or decided to shift in their place.

Fic Stats 📊
Thanks for the tags my loves 💕 @monsterrae1 @wildlife4life @thewolvesof1998 @hippolotamus @loserdiaz
Rules: give us the links to your fic with the most hits, second most kudos, third most comments, fourth most bookmarks, fifth most words, and fic with the least words
Most hits: Kiss Me Before it’s Over (if only for a minute)
Evan Buckley is living out his childhood dream as the star hitter for the Philadelphia Phillies. He’s climbing the ranks, improving his stats with every single game – he’s unstoppable.
That is, until the Los Angeles Angels get a new pitcher seemingly out of nowhere. Known for his strong arm and tricky curve balls, Eddie Diaz is one of the few pitchers in the nation who consistently makes Buck strike out, and its infuriating. Even from the sixty feet that separate them between the batter’s box and the pitcher’s mound, the weight of Diaz’s gaze is enough to make Buck’s blood boil.
Because Buck doesn’t get nervous on game day, he never feels calmer than when he steps up to the plate with the bat in his hand – it’s where he belongs. But when he sees Eddie Diaz standing on that mound, his stomach flips and nerves spark across his skin.
Because if there is one thing Buck knows for sure, it is that he hates Eddie Diaz.
… Until he doesn’t.
Baseball au my most beloved
Second most kudos: you and me here (underneath the mistletoe)
It’s fine. It’s just a kiss under the mistletoe. It’s a Christmas tradition, and in this case, just a joke. Not a big deal. He can play along – his only other choice is being weird about it, which sounds too much like revealing his feelings. So, he swallows it down and looks at Eddie who is still standing frozen, staring up at the mistletoe hanging above them.
Buck forces an easy smile. “C’mon, I’m not that bad,” he jokes. The tension in Eddie’s shoulders lessens a little and he laughs softly. “No. No you’re not,” he admits. “So, what do we do?”
Buck shrugs, trying to remain casual. “I guess we just suck it up and French a little.”
Third most comments: Bottled Poetry
“You want to take me on a weekend getaway… to a winery… for Valentine’s weekend?” Eddie clarifies, his mind spinning as he thinks of a weekend away with Buck, just the two of them.
“I got the weekend deal for free, Eddie! We have to go.”
“But” Eddie protests. “It’s meant for couples,” he says cautiously.
“C’mon Eddie, that just means we’ll get spoiled to extra wine and deserts and maybe be upgraded to a nicer room with a complimentary bottle of champagne,” Buck argues.
The fake dating winery fic ✨
Fourth most bookmarks: Our Love is Like a Storybook Story
“Fetch me that pitcher.” He says softly, nodding towards the pitcher hanging above his head along with other kitchen appliances. Eddie doesn’t look away, taking slow steps towards Buck until he is so close that Buck can feel Eddie’s breath on his face. Buck’s heart threatens to beat out of his chest as Eddie reaches for the pitcher, leaning closer into Buck’s space to do so. This close, Buck can see flecks of gold, like honey, in Eddie’s warm brown eyes. Eddie lowers the pitcher, placing it gently in Buck’s hands causing their fingers to brush.
“As you wish.” It comes out as a whisper, and Buck feels lightheaded at the softness of Eddie’s voice.
Aka the princess bride au
Fifth most words: Sometime Around Midnight
Every moment Buck feels as if he loves Eddie as much as possible, and every moment he’s proven wrong by falling even more in love. He’s proven wrong again as Eddie shifts so he’s facing Buck, lifting his leg onto the couch so that his shin is flush against Buck’s thigh, bringing them closer.
“Buck.” Eddie speaks his name quietly, like its something precious. And Buck falls even more as Eddie captures his gaze in those warm, brown eyes.
or:
A series of miscommunication leads to confusion and mistakes, until everything finally becomes clear.
My first fic ❤️
Least words: you are my sanctuary (you are my home)
Eddie sits at the other end of the couch, a cold beer in hand, watching the rise and fall of Buck’s chest – a reminder that Buck is alive, that he can breathe on his own. Buck’s arm is stretched across the back of the sofa, as if he’s creating space for Eddie, inviting him into arms.
He longs to lean into Buck and hold him close, to rest his head on Buck’s chest and hear his heartbeat, to feel the proof of life. But Buck needs to rest; Eddie opens up the second beer, and lets Buck sleep.
or;
Eddie has lots of feelings about Buck dying, Eddie's couch is Buck's sanctuary, and Eddie is Buck's home.

Shirai ryu kuai liang (cryomancer) AU Story
#subscorp
So I've actually done an au like this a while ago but this ask gave me another idea for a new version
Kuai Liang is sent on a mission to kill a target whom he is told is the heir to a mafia empire, and they are, problem is, said heir is like 11 years old so he spares them, unwilling to kill a child.
He goes back to the Lin Kuei fully expecting to be punished but he gets there very late at night and is told he can give his mission report in the morning so Bi-Han is the first to hear what happened.
Bi-Han, knowing that the Lin Kuei only needs one cryomancer and the grandmaster is fully willing to kill Kuai Liang for this, immediately packs their bags and sneaks into the grandmaster's quarters to steal his portal stone which takes them to Japan
It takes a while, but eventually they make their way to Hokkaido where the Shirai Ryu are based, with the brothers struggling to find their compound. Eventually word gets round that there are two teenagers dressed in Lin Kuei clothes trying to find the Shirai Ryu which gets their grandmaster's attention
He sends Hanzo out to spy on them, with him eventually realizing that the brothers must have deserted given how terrified they seem to be of everything. With that figured out, Hanzo approaches them and offers to take them to the Shirai Ryu compound and vouch for them to ask for sanctuary, though they will need to be unconcious for part of the journey due to secrecy reasons. Bi-Han agrees with little hesitation, knowing this is their only chance and they start off
On the journey, Hanzo and Kuai Liang get to talking and start up an easy friendship, with Hanzo being very gentle as he gives Kuai Liang the sedative once they get close enough to need it.
They get to the Shirai Ryu as Bi-Han begs sanctuary on their behalf, which is granted under the provision that they are always under guard until they prove themselves trustworthy. Seeing no other option, the brothers agree.
Hanzo volunteers himself for as many of the shifts as he can so that he can try and make the brothers' stay a bit more hospitable, leading to him and Kuai Liang becoming very close and quickly developing feelings for one another.
Kuai Liang, still stuck in the mindset of the Lin Kuei's views on attachment, doesn't say anything about his feelings. Hanzo, fearing that the power imbalance would make his advances inadvisable (this man is a gentleman and I will not hear otherwise), doesn't say anything either
This all comes to a head when Hanzo is sent out on another mission and comes back covered in blood, only about half of it being his own, and after he's healed he goes to visit Kuai Liang who kisses him in relief, leading to the two having a secret relationship (I'm a sucker for that trope) which Bi-Han helps them hide, albeit begrudgingly
Eventually it would get revealed tho I'm not sure how so lemme know what y'all think!
Also, Frost would be here too as someone Kuai Liang finds after he and Bi-Han are made part of the Shirai Ryu, bringing her home to protect her from the Lin Kuei's search teams seeking out more cryomancers
