Dennis Nilsen’s Dog Bleep

Dennis Nilsen, a Scottish serial killer and necrophile responsible for the deaths of at least 12 young men and boys between 1978 and 1983, was also a dog lover. He bought his black and white dog from a pet shop in the mid-70s and named her Bleep, home videos show Nilsen lovingly playing with the puppy. A shy and trusting dog, Bleep remained Nilsen's companion through his murder spree, she may have witnessed murder, necrophilia and dissection and smelt the burning corpses on the bonfires Nilsen used to dispose of his victims. Bleep even saved the life of one of Nilsen's victims; licking semiconscious Carl Stotter awake after Nilsen had attempted to strangle and drown him, Nilsen later let Stotter live. Nilsen told police that Bleep would become frightened of him when he was on his 'high' and would hide and greet him the next morning as though he had been away. He would also sometimes wake up in the morning and be surprised to see a dead body but knew he needed to take Bleep for a walk before coming home and dealing with it. It was said that the dog added some normality to his life.

When Nilsen was arrested Bleep was sent to Battersea Dogs Home in a cage displayed her name incorrectly as Blip due to difficulty understanding Nilsen's thick Scottish accent. Bleep was never re-homed and was put to death three weeks later. Nilsen was informed of his beloved pet's death and said: “I’m ashamed that her last days should be so painful. She had always forgiven me everything, and nothing but me could ever break her heart. She never let me down, but in the moment of her greatest crisis I was not there.”

NAME: Stephen Dean Holmes

BORN: 03/22/64 🇮🇪  

DIED: 12/29/78 (Age 14) 195 Melrose Ave. London 

FATE: Stephen met (soon to be) serial killer Dennis Andrew Nilsen at the Cricklewood Arms pub, where the youth was attempting to purchase alcohol. Unfortunately, he accepted an invitation back to Nilsen’s home. After drinking the night away they crawled into bed to sleep together. Nilsen awoke before Stephen the next morning and, while caressing the sleeping youth’s body, he realized the boy would soon want to leave — something Nilsen realized he didn’t ever want to happen. During his confession decades later he stated he had wanted Holmes to "stay with me over the New Year whether he wanted to or not". Nilsen decided to wrap his neck tie around Stephen’s neck and pull as tight as he could, immediately awakening the 14 year old. They struggled together so much that they rolled off the bed, where a titanic struggle for life and death occurred. Nilsen was the eventual victor, with Holmes going limp as he slipped into unconsciousness.  At this point Mr. Nilsen dashed to the kitchen and filled a plastic bucket with water. He then laid Stephen’s body on some chairs, draping his head off one end and then pushed his head into the bucket. Stephen never came to enough to struggle again and, after several minutes of bubbles making their way to the water’s surface, Stephen Dean Holmes was finally dead, becoming the now infamous serial killer’s first ever victim.  After masturbating over the boy’s corpse twice, he stored the body under his floorboards for 7 and ½ months. On August 11th, 1979 he constructed a bonfire in his garden and, along with some bits of rubber to mask the smell, burned the bound body, after which he raked the ashes into his the ground. Nilsen was arrested and imprisoned in 1983, after drain blockages in his apartment building (he had since moved to 23 Cranley Gardens) were found to be caused by human flesh and bones. He confessed to murdering up to 16 men and attempting to murder approximately 7 others, all in just over 4 years time. He is currently serving a life sentence. Although he had confessed to Stephen’s murder when he was initially apprehended in 1983, he did not know the youth’s name. Stephen’s identity, and terrible fate, were not confirmed until 2006.  RIP STEPHEN 🕯

This man is Dennis Nilsen. He is a British serial killer known as the 'British Jeffrey Dahmer.' I hope you guys know about Dahmer, but if not, that's OK! I'll be going over him soon too! Nilsen is actually still living; he's 71-years-old currently. He was born in Scotland, but he killed and disposed of 15 young men in England (he confessed to only 12). For a while, his method was to flay his victims and then flush remaining flesh down the toilet. This was actually how he was caught. When someone came in to check the plumbing (Nilsen actually called for the plumber), they found the flesh clogging the pipes.
