Krypto the Superdog: Season 1 Episode 3 Part 3
As the Dog Star Patrol are formally introduced, Mammoth Mutt is the last to be shown off, and thus a full depiction of her inflating and deflating on the spot. It's a very fast sequence and there's a lot of frames used for it, so rather than individually showing them, I've gathered them altogether into one compilation.
The process begins with Mammoth Mutt concentrating, closing her eyes and tensing up. Then she starts to plump up into a fat and lumpy frame that gains rolls along the back, the front legs amassing folds before the body quickly grows spherical in height and width, the back bulging past her head while the tail is completely obscured. The back rolls from from one to three as large thick curves. As she grows taller and rounder, the front and back left legs rise off the floor to accomodate the stretched out proportions, the back leg being the last to do so, while the centre of the swelling belly firmly plants itself in their place as it dominates the lower half.
For a brief moment, Mutt's body grows so large the back exceeds the top of the screen while the sides bulge out slightly before settling into the end result size, indicating that the hefty heroine's body can possibly go larger but is generally under her control, shifting like a balloon when the air pressure inside is adjusted.
Once Mammoth Mutt reaches full size, head nestled in the middle, her eyes open and she smiles as she sways on the spot from left to right, front legs cosily in two folds while the back leg sticks out in place of the hidden tail, her roundness and weight shown off in a way that isn’t difficult for her to manage even when idle, displaying just how in control she is of her puffed up power. Her figure is like a massive pink circus ball shown off to the one-man audience that is Krypto. It's also fitting for her to be the last formally introduced given how Krypto had to experience her power the hardest way possible.
The deflation process is in a mostly similar fashion as the inflation, except the confident smile is used until she gets to normal size, in which she goes back to the focused eyes-closed one.

Krypto the Superdog: Season 1 Episode 3 Part 2
Once the gang realise they’ve missed their targets Mammoth Mutt deflates on top of Krypto, the positioning on the super dog no longer holding up her gigantic girth, but instead supporting her tan belly on his back, with enough time focusing on Mutt to make the offscreen transition possible. It’s to be noted this is the first onscreen indication of her size-changing, let alone deflating at that.
She starts off filling most of the screen, the very top and bottom cut off in the first frame in Pic 1 before she grows smaller in Pic 2, her eyes going from her right hand side to downwards as she focuses on herself in Pic 3. As she gets to Pic 3, her hind legs appear, and the perfect sphere of the body squashes itself into more of an oval across Pics 4-6 as she reaches closer and closer to normal height, resting on belly and groin.
Pics 7-8 gives Mutt a more conventionally spherical look while her front limbs start to shift back into place from centered in the tan underside of her torso to the pink fur beside it, the deposits of fat they sink into it adjust position with tan and pink intersecting, with the legs seen doing much the same in Pic 8. It’s an interesting detail on just how enormous she can be and how the position of her limbs are affected by it.
Throughout this deflation sequence, the lines indicating the rolls of fat surrounding her head gradually disappear, by Pic 9 we see the white of her collar again rather than just the heart adorning it, indicating that once she balloons, the rolls swallow up the collar itself snugly into that first roll, displaying the fat-heavy detailing of the inflated body.
Pic 9 presents a slightly plumper look to Mutt with a bloated belly while the collar and tail returns to visibility. By Pic 10, she’s back to normal size, her tail finally seen again.
As for the sound design of the scene, the cartoon sound effect for the deflation give off a rubbery feel for one so stretchy and large, adding to both the weight and bounciness shown off by slamming onto Krypto. It’s overall a very strong first impression for a recurring and competent inflatable character, and we’ll be seeing more of how her debut shows off more of that.

Tuesday 07 May 2024 is the 313th anniversary of the birth of David Hume (07 May 1711 New Style, 26 April 1711 Old Style, to 25 August 1776), who was born in Edinburgh on this date in 1711.
Hume’s reputation as a philosopher only continues to grow with time, but during his life he was a failure as a philosopher though found success as an historian. Hume’s distinctively empiricist and skeptical philosophical views provide little in the way of a positive philosophy of history, but they can be understood as a deflationary philosophy of history that gives us a robust principle of selection for history.

The Amazing Spiez: Season 1, Episode 22 Part 3
As the Super Soaker Supersizer’s reverse beam hits Megan, the super swollen spy’s body has become so engorged that she’s rolling along through the area with no signs to stopping.
This whole gives a strong clear presentation of Megan as she moves along in her near-bursting level of girth. The legs look stocky, being so big and bulky yet totally useless in grinding her to a halt. The belt continues to stay on while the skirt’s crease lines are stretched out further. Her plumped arms are forced upwards, they and her fat round face sticking out on top like a massive prop.
The roll forward shows her lower half (Pic 1), her gigantic belly (Pic 2), straight up (Pic 3), leaning forward (Pic 4), on her belly (Pic 5), downwards (Pic 6) and upside down (Pic 7).
The reverse beam hits Megan at Pic 6, actually stopping the large lass in her tracks. A great little detail is that it’s not just a sudden pause in the animation, but a little rock and lean back as she’s stuck positioned upright, causing Megan to give a look of surprise and stare down at her body (Pics 8-10). From this, she starts to shrink down further and further, and the thing that strikes me intrigued is that there’s not deflation of the body itself, just growing smaller but never reducing in shape. (Pics 11-13)
Following this shot, we see Megan tumbling forward onto the ground, now totally back to normal in shape and size (Pic 12), her brothers glad that she’s no longer “freakishly large”. (Pic 13) The wrap-up of Megan’s subplot has her accept her size after her huge experience and wishing to find the boy she likes to notices her some other way...only to discover he’s into girls shorter than him, and so she plans to see if there are any gadgets to make her smaller.
The subplot of the episode did bring to mind the Totally Spies episode ‘Passion Patties, which I covered before.
Both female on a female spy concerned about their size regarding a singular thing of interest (a too-big hat; a boy the spy is into). The main plot concerns a villain using size-changing items for their goal (fat-inducing cookies; a size-enlarging gadget). The villain gets defeated by their own objective (becoming fat and addicted; beaten by a giant spy) the spy growing larger (fat; giant with inflation) and ultimately accepting their situation. A rapid heavy-body expansion occurs in the end as well (villain; female spy).
Of course, in Totally Spies, the expansion was throughout, while in Amazing Spies, the expansion was in the climax with an added problem at the resolution for a moment of comic relief, both allowing for the arc of the episodes to reach to their natural end and lesson.

Further confirmation of the persistence of the deflation is found in this
paper by Tom Nicholas and Anna Scherbina titled Real Estate Prices
During the Roaring Twenties and the Great Depression [50]:
Using unique data on real estate transactions, we construct nominal and CPI-adjusted hedonic price indices for Manhattan from
1920 to 1939. The CPI-adjusted index falls during the recession
that followed WWI, rises to a local peak in 1926 and declines again
following the collapse of the Florida real estate bubble. It subsequently recovers to reach its highest value in late 1929 before
falling by 74 percent at the end of 1932 and hovering around
that value until 1939. A typical property bought in the beginning
of 1920 would have retained only 41 percent of its initial value
two decades later.
And this was Manhattan!
