A character looks straight into the camera and says "I'm not interested in romance" and people will still say "No, it's not confirmed they're aromantic!!!" "They could change their mind!!!" "it's a challenge for them to overcome!!!" "They'll have character development that makes them fall in love"
It's like they are given the most blatant answer to a character romantic orientation and they actively ignore it. all the while all it takes is subtext for people to speak as if it is fact for a character to be any other sexuality.

bro can you imagine being tritter. you’re a power hungry cop who just wants to get revenge on the asshole doctor who humiliated you, so you approach his prescribing physician saying “here’s cold hard proof that he committed several crimes and endangered your career”. and instead of testifying against him in light of this information he’s like nooo he didn’t do anything wrong!! it was my fault actually that he committed felonies without my knowledge!! don’t take him away!! send me to prison instead!!! like. what do you even do with that

i just. really wish people would realize it's possible to reblog a post about platonic relationships and expressing an appreciation for them or defending their legitimacy and capacity for depth and complexity and intimacy etc without feeling the need to talk in the tags about how much they love romance also or how much they also think 'a secret third thing' is great. like. you don't need to do that. in fact, please DON'T do that.

admittedly one of my favorite things about house ( that also drives me up a wall ) is that something Really Big happens and then the next episode they like loosely mention it like wow wasn’t it crazy that that happened . anyway haha

Why someone would need to deny their friendship with Max when the British media ask them about their friendship literally sickens me I cannot.

If I didn't think I could hate Ashlyn Harris anymore than I already do, Sophia Bush does an interview and makes me hate them both to the NTH DEGREE.

the thing is that there are interesting ways to play with the idea that thomas and martha weren't the perfect parents that bruce will always venerate them as on account of they died when he was 8 (i feel like the ones i'm most interested are the throwaway lines that imply they might've sent bruce to boarding school + the idea that thomas was maybe a little too focused on prioritizing his work over family), however dc seems to constantly go for ~but did thomas cheat on martha?? was he imperfect in his potential unfaithfulness???~ (they do this for a lot dad characters in general i feel like) and it's just overdone and tiring and i hate it so.

thinking again about how underexplored hera & minkowski are as a dynamic, considering how close their relationship is, and i think there is some synergy between minkowski's "i can't think of a decision in my life that wasn't already determined by someone else. but, even then, there was always a choice, and i always made it." and similar sentiments expressed by hera. and this exchange with eiffel in ep 48: "no. this isn't even a choice for me." / "yes, it is. it's a sucky ass choice, but it is a choice." while hera & minkowski were the two people who initially argued to stay...
it's true that all of the main wolf 359 characters have an element of regaining control / autonomy present in their arcs (lovelace's conflict with the dear listeners + choosing to be isabel lovelace, and eiffel's need to take responsibility for himself as a full person and an autonomous actor in order to move forwards), but i think there's something about how hera & minkowski share this fear of losing control. that they must perform perfectly, be better and do more than everyone around them in order to earn the same amount of respect as anyone else, without knowing why they feel so... deficient.
i think a lot of their early conflict stems from this shared insecurity clashing against opposite priorities and relationships to authority - minkowski believes that the way to prove herself as a person is to attach her worth to her job and excel at it, while hera's worth as a person has been tied to her job by external forces and she struggles to be seen as more than that. it's an important job to minkowski, and an important role, but she doesn't initially realize that she's not just arguing with hera as an unruly subordinate, but as a person for whom that is the unwilling totality of her existence. like in let's kill hilbert, where hera says "try to sound a little less patronizing" and she replies "i'm not being patronizing, i'm being critical" - i think that's the primary disconnect in their perspectives.
over time, as minkowski learns to separate herself (and her self worth) more and more from that idealized role of commander, i think those shared insecurities become a point of connection more than discordance. minkowski is sort of a defender by nature, and devoted to the people she cares about, but i think there is still a personal element in some of the ways she most ardently advocates for hera - in the way she demands hera be respected for her efforts, and, notably... minkowski has a lot of personal baggage around being made fun of for how she speaks. i think it's worth considering that in the context of lovelace mocking hera's stutter, and minkowski later turning "count to ten" back on her.

swifties will act like they’re against billionaires but then they’ll buy every single different version of midnights vinyls that taylor puts out, buy her merch, concert tickets, albums, buy tickets to her movie premiere so they can meet taylor.
like how about you STOP GIVING HER MONEY if you’re that serious about it??? if you think Taylor has too much money you have the option to STOP lining her pockets???

Idk if it’s because of how I’ve curated my feed but I rarely see people shitting on Christine. Any E/C space I’m in is mostly about centering Christine and her satisfaction.
That said, I feel the constant need to warn people that “If you like Erik and Christine as a couple, remember not to have that kind of relationship IRL” is kind of annoying. I get the intention, but people, including young people, aren’t stupid and don’t need constant reminders to not be inspired by their toxic faves.
Like yes girl, I know the Phantom is not a real man. I wish a wealthy, nerdy, musically talented, intelligent old man that lived underground and wanted to help me with my music career was real. But he’s not, so I’m gonna indulge in fiction.
Bless the rest of y’all that get involve in the discourse though. Honestly, could not be me.

If we’re really gonna get into any hypotheticals of what Shen Jiu’s response would have been to Yue Qingyuan admitting why he didn’t rescue the former, then let’s not forget that the only scenario in which Shen Jiu can see himself forgiving Yue Qingyuan’s “failure” is if Yue Qingyuan dies in the attempt. This is, of course, referring to the whole Bingge ambush thing, but this also refers to how before Shen Jiu reunited with first disciple Yue Qingyuan, he was comforting himself with the thought that the reason Yue Qingyuan never returned was because he had died. She Jiu was literally imagining holding a little funeral for him, because in his mind, Yue Qingyuan is useless without him. The fact that Yue Qingyuan not only survived on his own but ended up living the dream that Shen Jiu wanted (again, in his mind since we know that yqy was not living “the dream”)? That was what had Shen Jiu pissed.

spop fans criticize authors like j.k rowling (as she should be criticized) for declaring characters' sexualities offscreen, instead of showing it onscreen. but then they praise the crew-ra for lgbt and poc representation when more than half of those things were "confirmed" offscreen.

I think Swifites lack of curiousity when it comes artistry and what a person chooses to divulge at any one moment really did them a disservice going into this project and people are still reeling four days later for any number of reasons, from Taylor admitting to engaging in toxic behaviors and not being a Perfect Demigod Angel Princess to not demonizing an exe so bad to admitting to lying to people's faces for a reaction.
the amount of posts explaining/justifying/supporting emotional infidelity right now + back when ivy and high infidelity were released was one of the first indicators of how far fans can go to deal with the cognitive dissonance taylor's nonadherence to this perfect human persona they had created in their heads lol
