Sometimes, when Slade wasn’t careful, an echo of his old man stoked. It was in the curl of his lip, when he acted as his father’s mouthpiece. Something in his blood or his head, threatening to break loose. He had to be controlled. Had to segment emotions from violence, and punishment.
Last week, Slade had thrown Grant in his room to weather a tantrum. By the time he’d quieted down, fingerprints had bloomed up his bicep from Slade’s seeped strength.
Slade hadn’t been able to touch him since. He’d been too scared, loved his boy too much, to lift a hand.

au slade who killed the titans and dated diana and whose kid was damian (i’m not making this shit up it was Something) came into our canon world and tried to kill canon slade and canon slade was like “can i buy you a coffee”
then they bonded over hatred for the titans and love for killing and also distaste for their kids because slade is a terrible terrible bastard man in every universe and a worse father
then later they were beating the shit out of each other and canon slade said “this is lame lets get ihop” and au slade punched him
and then they killed each other and died together*
literally cannot take this shit seriously

The Batman vs. Deathstroke arc in Deathstroke 2016 could have been vastly improved if it was just Dickbats instead of Bruce. Damian, kinda fucked because Bruce is missing or out of commission or maybe presumed dead again, finding out about the made up paternity test showing that Slade's his daddy and running off after him. Dick trying to corral the fucking kid and getting way too into Slade's business as a result. Slade wanting none of this. Alfred and Wintergreen having their gay little old man hangouts in the background. Adding back some of the nemesis-ship between Dick and Slade that was lacking between the 2011 reboot and Dark Crisis. Damian stuck in the middle of this weird custody battle where Dick is battling for custody and Slade is battling against it and they are somehow still battling even though they want the same thing. It's perfect.

This is a brilliant sequence of a ‘fight’ between Batman and Deathstroke. To me, reminiscent of the two samurai meeting on a bridge and with barely moving have an entire battle because they can judge each other’s skills (Batman won).

@rootbeerqueer exactly this!! the types of things isherwood says to him...i would have to reread the ending to remember anything that happened in like the last 25 issues (which is not a huge priority for me) but i remember this panel from issue #6:
fucking crazy panel. "a LIE is a SIN"????!?!? "you are fearfully and wonderfully made"???? i think he says that second thing again later on, when he's a reformed christian. his relationship to joey and how he talks to him is so tied up with christianity. "you are fearfully and wonderfully made"... how easy would it be for a kid brought up in a homophobic household to be manipulated by a man who told him things like that!
and also there's the emphasis they both have on: "you forget--i pursued you." joey.... there's a time where isherwood says nothing happened between them until joey turned 21; and yet he's the one who made sure that they kept it a secret from slade (as joey says in the above panel. probably it was secret from adeline too). wonder what his reasoning behind that was!! also we see a picture of them kissing on joey's 21st birthday.
and the way it ended in the comics (as far as i remember) was that isherwood loved joey so much that he sacrificed himself to save him, and joey accepted that or something. to speak directly to the writer in this moment: cowardly and weak!! let tara drop a building on him or something at least. but thinking about where that would leave joey...there's such a lack of closure. isherwood admitted to slade that he did something wrong with his relationship to joey; but did he ever really admit it to joey? does joey know really and in his heart that the thing isherwood did wrong was as an adult taking advantage of a teenager/young adult, and not that they were both men? how does he separate those two things, when isherwood entwined them so much in his mind? who does he talk to about this!!
this is where my tara/dick/joey sexual abuse therapy group comes into play. though i do think that for the most part they would make each other worse because of none of them understanding what happened to them. AHHHHHHHH (thats me screaming)

Could I get your thoughts on Teen Titans #78 and 79? Also how would you have concluded Rose's character arc regarding her family?
i LOOOOOOOOVE that story <3 its such a great representation of roses relationship with slade w the way she comes there to kill him then later on goes "nvm i love him and dont want him to die. this sucks."
not to mention!!!! it shows the difference between rose & joey's relationships with slade sooooooo well bc joey was raised by slade and thinks theres good in him! but rose wasnt raised by him and doesnt believe in any good in him (but loves him anyway)!!!!! GOD.
i love it its a fantastic wilson family story and gets all their dynamics down rly well <3 i love rose & joey in that story i love it when they get to hang out (disregard the zombies theyre just hanging out) 💕💕💕
as for how i would have concluded the arc. i have thoughts.
first of all it haunts me every single day of my life that the new 52 came and stopped anything from happening with this. her mom was ALIVE and she was being talked about!!!!!! then n52 came and erased her from existence and i will never not be upset about it (also the last panel lili has ever appeared in they made her BLONDE.) i wish i could contact jt krul and ask him what the plan was i need to know so badly
but honestly. if it were me writing it i would not have brought lili back. i think the story would be so much more intriguing if rose was basically on a wild goose chase since the only evidence she had wasnt very strong but it gave her HOPE so she clung onto it for as long as she could
plus i feel like rose would have a lot of guilt surrounding her mothers death (since she died protecting her) even though she doesnt outwardly show any guilt and just blames slade for all of it, so shes doing everything she can to a) prove to herself that she didnt actually kill her mother and b) make up for the fact that it was her fault (in her mind) and get forgiveness for it. but she doesnt get any closure or forgiveness so she has to learn to accept that she did have a role in her mom's death but it doesnt make it her fault
anyways after obsessing over finding her mom just to realize that she actually was dead the whole time rose would have a catastrophic breakdown and probably take it out on slade, who would probably make it worse on purpose
i havent thought about it in depth so i dont know exactly how it would happen but i would say that eventually she realizes that the titans were there for her while she was looking for her mom and while she was in the middle of her breakdown, then be like "the titans are my family and its great <3 fuck my stupid dad"
then she has insane lesbian sex with cassie and then everyone lives happily ever after until another writer comes along and decides to retread the same drama and ignore character development because thats what they love to do in tt03
#but part of me also wishes that lili did come back to life#because i love her but also because it would be so funny if she was part of deathstroke's kooky cast of characters#lili and addie interactions now please <3 it would be so terrible they would rip each other apart#can you imagine if lili was in deathstroke 2016. imagine if on top of everything that was already happening in that book she was there too#i will always wish she had showed up in ds16 at all but it would have been sooo funny if she was alive for it#rose wilson#dc

Thinking about Tara’s awkward place in the Group of People Associated With Slade Wilson. Like, when his enemies go down the list of people to kidnap or kill to get to him, she’s not on it. But she also never gets to be seen as trustworthy ever again, maybe more so than even his kids because defining yourself in opposition to an abusive/villainous dad is a Thing. Adeline is mostly doing her own thing, even if she does get included in that list, but you can’t make comparisons because to call Tara his ex would be massively incomplete. She’s not an enemy. She’s just out here.
