Oh my god, I just had a thought…
…what if, when Raist finally visits the Inn after all those years and of course Tika and Caramon are pissed and there’s tons of fighting
And then Tas is like, “I know what’ll solve this - a wedding!”
And everyone stares at Tas until he explains that he meant that Tika and Caramon should have a second wedding, one that includes Raistlin. That way they can reconcile because, in Tas’s view, ‘weddings are a beautiful and joyous occasion that bring family together!’
Awww I can just imagine Raist standing by Caramons side. He’s still wearing his wizard robes of course but he’s jazzed them up with a scarf draped over his shoulders (kinda like the look Loki wore in the museum scene in Avengers, you know the one) and trying his best to look grumpy but there’s a hint of a smile on his face but he’s half hiding it in the shadow of his hood and also his hair). And of course Tas has to be the ring bearer.
…yeah I’m probably definitely gonna draw this later.

Hello please give Sturm a big hug from me. He's such a cute good boy and so very friend shaped. I want to pat him on the head, but, well... (Love from 3am Ro)
Your hug has been delivered.
Aaand we're currently stuck together because it's literally like being in a furnace here in the Factory. Did it stop me though? Absolutely fucking no.
Now we're melting together. We shall become one. An abomination of metal and flesh, now equipped with TWO! (2) braincells! hfjsgdjsh

Based on names alone, this is every RE8 character’s favorite band
18+ Minors DNI
This isn’t the actual bands whose music I think they would like most. Just jokes about the band names themselves and how they match up with each character. All these are groups that I like. Some of these band names are graphic so heads up. Let’s get into it!
Alcina’s favorite band is Iron Maiden. (This realization made me laugh and sent me down this fucking rabbit hole.) However, Violent Femmes, fits her too… So does Revolting Cocks for obvious reasons XDDD
Miranda’s favorite band is The Black Crowes, or Counting Crows. (Or Dying Fetus… Don’t come for me T^T)
Donna’s favorite band is… The Donnas, ha.
Angie’s favorite band is The Goo Goo Dolls, or New York Dolls.
Karl’s favorite band is Metallica.
Sturm’s favorite band is Jefferson Airplane. Get it? Because of that damn propellor?
Sal’s favorite band is Aqua. He’s a Barbie girl.
The Dimi sisters’ favorite band, collectively, is The Offspring.
Bela’s favorite band is Blondie.
Cass’s favorite band is Cannibal Corpse.
Dani’s favorite band is The Babys. She is the baby, after all XD
Ethan’s and Mia’s favorite band together is the Mamas and the Papas.
Ethan’s favorite band is… The Band. He’s such a vanilla character and this band name fits his unmemorable ass. (Or, The Who. As in: Who the fuck is this dumbass that’s killing my wives?)
Mia’s favorite group is Public Enemy. Why y'all always hate on Mia so damn much T^T
Rose’s favorite band is Guns n’ Roses… Because, you know.
Duke’s favorite band is Bread. He loves to make dough.
Chris’s favorite band is Steppenwolf. Because of Hound Wolf Squad.
Elena’s favorite band is Death Cab for Cutie. We all saw that scene with her and the truck T^T (Fuck you again, Ethan Winters!)

"So are you disappointed?" Raistlin asked. "No," Sturm replied. "I may have lost a hero, but I have found a friend. What about you? Magius was your hero." "I have found both a hero and a friend," said Raistlin. "You must find it hard, knowing as you do that Magius is destined to die a terrible death," said Sturm. You have no idea, Raistlin thought.
You know, given that the Twins Trilogy ends with "Raistlin discovers he has a heart and undooms the world", you know what would be a really funny way to end this book?

So Lacey Sturm was originally in the Christian hard rock band Flyleaf but she's got a solo career now. Check out her song "Reconcile" for starters. And Love and Death is a Christian nu metal band started by Brian "Head" Welch, who started out as the guitarist in the band Korn and broke off to do his own thing... so if you like Korn's sound, it's almost the same thing, but from a Christian perspective. I like his songs "Adonai" and "L.O.V.E."
I WAS HOPING BRIAN WOULD STAY IN THE SCENE AND CHANGE HIS ANGLE THAT'S AWESOME HOW HAVE I NOT HEARD ABOUT THIS-
Thanks, I'll definitely have to check em out!

Well a major SãoPaulo museum just announced a family-friendly holocaust immersive experience where you take your family to a room full of smoke machines to reenact. You know. Not to name the other rooms in the exhibit that I heard about from my friend who was ranting in the groupchat about the pitch meeting that the general public doesn't know about
They finally announced it publicly so I can rant about it here. Like the worst timing too given everything. I think André Sturm should get car hammered for real. This is a real death threat and not a fake looney toones one

Okay! Rant (and spoilers) ahead! It's been some time since I read Dragons of Fate now and I need to put down my thoughts about it. My obsessive bookmarking of scenes must be put to some use! Really, hoarding scenes it my one true dragon trait.
Now. Critique comes first. For one:
Inconsistency problems. I ranted about some of them in other posts as well, but here a few in short: 1. Raistlin is too well-informed about Immolatus. He may have figured out that he's a dragon at some point after Brothers in Arms, but even then, he couldn't have detailed knowledge about his hunting habits from the short encounters he had with him. 2. The Green dragon in the orb is named Viper, not Cyan 3. In the very first scene a gnome appears he finishes a sentence. The a-gnome-never-finishes-a-sentence rule has been broken before but still.
Then. The repetetive and tedious explainations of time travelling. Okay, so the book starts with a chapter that basically retells the last chapter of the previous book to explain where things left off. So far so good, it's a bit unnecessary that the time travelling is spelled out to the reader in such detail and that Sturm is used as the 'ignorant character' device that needs everything explained to him. But then we switch scenes and the same discussion takes place with Dalamar and Justarius. And then again with Tanis (again the ignorant character device) and Astinus! Yes, every character has to be up to date, but the process doesn't have to be described every time. It just feels like the reader isn't trusted to keep up and I would actually welcome some ambiguity here. But maybe that's just personal preference.
Destina. I was actually on bord with the entire Destina plotline in the first book, but in the second one it feels like she has simply been erased, now that the heroes of the lance have entered the stage. And the plot with her love interest... uff. I read somewhere that Dragonlance has a problem with writing love stories and I agree. There is no real distinction between initial attraction and supposed deeper feelings? At least not in this case. There was no time for these two to fall in love and it feels like a plot device.
Raistlin. Now. This REALLY is personal preference but he felt... out of character a bit? How do explain it better than 'he isn't evil enough'? Yes he is still sarcastic and snarky, but it also just set on fixing the river of time without ever even contemplating an outcome that doesn't end with him dead? Of course his memories of his failed atttempt of godhood could have taught him better, but are you really telling me that RAISTLIN MAJERE doesn't have any ambition or shred of selfishness left in him? Especially after he says he doesn't really regret his actions? And I loved the scene in the beginning where he tells Tasslehoff that he is sorry that Mary was never real but it also just felt off.
Now, I ranted a lot about things I didn't like. So here the things i absolutely did (especially in the third half of the book that made up for a lot of the previous bugs I think):
Gnomes!! They were hilarious! Like, in every scene and every dialogue they were what I expected gnomes to be. Chaotic bureaucracy, exploding shit, little self-preservation, that's just awesome.
Magius. I had my issues with his and Raistlin's dynamic at first because it felt like they were set up for being friends just because it serves the plot and Raistlin was more dragged along than making decisions on his own... but the death scene really had me with a lump in my throat. And Magius handing over the staff and declaring that it will be Raistlin's now and in the future - that was actually a mindblowing moment!
The Immolatus and Takhisis dynamic. Now, this was an intriguing and ambiguous relationship. We know that she favours him, gifts him a powerful artifact and makes him a commander of her army, even recruits him again in Brothers in Arms, but he just hates her guts. Why? We got just enough bits to be interested but not enough to make it flat. Nice!
Raistlin and Sturm. Sue me, i ship them and I loved every bit of interaction.
Kitiara and siblings in the dragon army. This... I mean-!!! Again, this is subjective, but I was just always absolutely in love with Kitiara and Raistlin as a team and understood but was saddened when they tried to kill each other half the time. To see them now on the same side in this alternative present and with Caramon at that... this is everything I wanted for them. I know, I know, that's just me, but i'm all in for team evil Majere / uth Matar siblings.
So much from me :) Plz tell me you thoughts if you agree or disagree with any of this.

Necomancers hate them! Local half-orc has huge ass and even bigger heart
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Stormbringers were a tribe of orcs that were, for centuries, feared. Their warhorses were said to bring a fear into your heart like you were facing a tempest.
The leader of the Stormbringers when our story begins was a woman named Ferin. She was a powerful sorcerer, and as time went on, her magicks grew darker. She grew obsessed with death, with the idea of defeating it permanently. Her style of necromancer was particularly heinous: she drained the life of her victims, using them to fuel her own life, and then puppeted their bodies in battle. Those she drained were utterly destroyed, not merely killed. Their very souls fueled her.
The Stormbringers were aware of Ferin's necromancy, but not the depths of her profanity. She was beloved to them, a fair leader who had led them to victory for many years, and many chose to see her longevity and health as a blessing, rather than trickery.
Her ways angered the gods themselves, particularly those who lorded over the domain of death. With so many souls destroyed, Ferin had not only profaned the balance and cycle of nature, but had upset the balance of souls in the universe. She owed death a debt of souls, and they eventually came to collect. Eight times did death appear before Ferin, and eight times she refused to pay. On the ninth time, death did not ask. What wouldn't be given willingly would be taken. On the night that death took its revenge on Ferin, eight Stormbringer babes screamed, for their very souls had been marked for the sacrifice. For Ferin's sins, her entire tribe was punished.
One such babe was, at the time, the toddler Golnar. Golnar's life was already storied, for its mother was a noblewoman, Zoreh Tilki, who had eloped with its father some years before. And its father was Ferin's own son, Fregga. Not only did Golnar cry out that night, so too did its yet unborn brother Firouz.
Death came quickly after that. A band of adventurers, led by Selna, a paladin of Kelvemor and Sturm, a paladin of Tyr, marched on the Stormbringers. Led by their own self-righteousness, they slaughtered almost the entire clan, sparing only the elves and humans they believed had been kidnapped and bewitched by Ferin. Selna also refused to allow the young children to be killed, a choice that nearly brought her and Sturm to blows. Eight orc and half-orc children were spared the slaughter, the eldest of which was a six-year-old Golnar, and the youngest of which was a mere infant.
The orphans grew up in the slums of the very city Golnar's mother hailed from, though neither mother nor child knew the other lived. The eight were always an oddity, looking more like tieflings than orcs. (I do not know enough about the Faerun setting to pick a big city, but Golnar grew up in complete poverty, surrounded by nonhumans and a large number of tieflings, to the point that it speaks Infernal fluently.)
When a sickness went through its community, Golnar became truly enshrined with Death. Very few survived, and it shaped Golnar into the person it is today. It began working as a healer at fourteen, learning at the shoulder of Selna, the very paladin who had saved it as a child, who came to save it again. Even after the plague was gone, Golnar chose to heal. But its focus was on the elderly, the ill, the frail, the dying. It learned of Kelemvor at that time from Selna, and began to receive visions and dreams from the god from the moment it heard his name.
In its dreams, Golnar serves Death still. While it sleeps, its soul is transported to Death’s domain where it tend the souls of the recently deceased as a soul gardener, digging grave-plots for the souls to slumber until their next step. Over the years, it seemed that Kelemvor became truly fond of Golnar, doting on it and favoring it with magic and gifts. When it dies, its soul will return to his domain for eternity, to serve him in death as it did in life. As soon as it was old enough, it swore its paladin's oath before Selna, taking up their weapon to ensure that the cycle of life and death is always respected. It left behind the other orphans, all of whom it has lost contact with, with the sole exception of its brother, who they write too frequently.
As a paladin that serves Death, Golnar's adventuring life is primarily that of a monster hunter. They particularly target the undead and those who raise them, as well as those who cause great amounts of unnecessary death. These types of jobs are not very frequent, so functionally Golnar is a traveling healer. They tend to the sick and dying, but also ease the pains of birth and broken bone with holy magic, a gentle hand, and an even gentler manner. They never stay in one place for long, both due to their calling.
Unfortunately, the way it's lived its life has led to Golnar being a recluse. It is so preoccupied with death that it’s lost sight of what makes death worth it all: the life you’ve lived. It has no friends, no close family, nothing to look forward to or care about besides the dead and dying, and see no value in its own soul except for what it’ll be when it dies.
Golnar is also a romantic, a devoted soul who has a great deal of love inside that has only ever been aimed towards the dead and dying. It has a strong sense of politeness and chivalry, and loves stories and song. It doesn't remember its surname, but has taken the monicker "Strifeslayer" to remind itself what it aims for.
Its heart and kindness are obvious to any who speak to Golnar, but said heart is guarded and uncertain. Though it has had quite a few flings and dalliances, the one intended longterm romantic entanglement Golnar allowed itself in its youth ended when its partner abandoned it and the community they had been defending to a grim fate. Golnar prevailed, but it never sought out its first love again. It fears that its purpose and dedication have left them with a heart incapable of experiencing deep lasting love.

Oh, come and be reconciled at the wedding or funeral pyre
Romancing pride to death, disgusting categorizing liar
And how do we bleed and how do we breathe a love we're too proud to see?
The pride that turns the holy into blasphemy
But I will let You breathe on me🎶🎶
