rip to rian johnson but star wars sequels would be way better if ben solo was just kinda cowardly and han solo coded so he defected from the jedi and went to be a fun swashbuckling anarchist space cowboy instead

and finn and poe have to find him and try to convince him to come back to the rebellion but hes afraid who he is and what he could become

also instead of luke trying to kill his nephew for NO REASON (so insanely out of character it boils my blood) he just realises after ben dips thats hes not cut out for teaching. and is living on a mandalorian colony as rebellion liason/ambassador with chewie and sometimes lando i guess (din djarin is there) he aids the rebellion (because of course he would fuck that plotline) but he wont stay on the rebel base because he doesnt like all the chosen one clout and mandalorians are very chill and mind their own business

han and leia are still together and play active parts in the rebellion because fuck that plotline too although they do disagree about the ben situation (leia is annoyed and han is understanding) poe and ben childhood friends and for what.

in this au, rey is raised in the empire and is a sith lord but she has doubts and isnt as abjectly disgusting as kylo ren because of course not. (appears slightly too interested in the rebellion when poe is captured and maybe??? possibly lets finn and poe escape but thats up for debate.) rey gets more evil over course of movies before turning to light for plot drama and a satisfying zuko arc.

force awakens timeline

prophecy that a new jedi will rise and take down the dark side. rey and sith lord (dk who but fuck snoke im writing him out) assume it is the missing ben solo (its finn and rey tho fr) and are intent on finding him. movie opens on rey being evil probably and capturing poe. also finn as a character actully needs no real changes hes great. and then next scene space pirate ben solo doing his thing (but without identity revealed so we dont know who he is yet he may go by kylo because funny)

instead of luke poe has a lead on missing almost-jedi before he dipped ben solo and is searching for him on leias orders.(rebellion also believe the prophecy is about him. but nuh uh) torture scene and escape scene doesnt need to change but show reys nuances and how lost she is.

in the interest of narrative poe and finn still crash on tatooine but finn manages to pull poe out of the crash. (finn still gets the jacket at some point because i say so) poe is too injured to fly so they seek out help and and meet ben solo who saves them from pirates or something idk. (but neither know who the other is)

finn and poe convince ben solo to be their pilot still thinking hes a random smuggler named kylo. they get along very well, especially finn and ben. rey by this point is tracking their whereabouts

they end up on that lightsaber planet and ben gets the weird darth vader nightmare and freaks out, (hes afraid of being evil or something idk) poe is getting suspicious now also finn feels the force and takes up the lightsaber. rey comes and finn trys to hold her off. finn get hurt and drops lightsaber. ben is forced to take it up and his identity is revealed as rebel reeforcements led by han and leia arrive and they see him fighting. rey and ben have a weird charged moment (yes i guess i am still making reylo a thing but its reyben now and its woke so shh) and in a dramatic desperate effort he manages to knock her lightsaber away with the force. poe crawls into a plane at somepoint and blows up reys ship. the rebels destroy the stormtroopers but rey captures finn and escapes in a stolen ship.

ben has a oh-shit-i-said-id-never-use-the-force-again related existential crisis which makes him freak out and leaves. a distraught finn-less poe calls him a coward. poe picks up the discarded lightsaber and the jackettm and sadly packs them up. leia tells him about the starkiller and poe volunteers to go on the starkiller and save finn. han and leia have a sweet moment and han decides to go with poe on the suicide mission, chewie goes too.(chewie arrived at somepoint i guess)

mid hostage situation finn blocks reys force attempt and shes shook up. he sees something in her (finn is a beautiful sweetheart) and he trys to appeal to her. she force chokes him and books it out of there. but it is clear she fears him a little. he escapes with mind tricks and runs into han poe and chewie on the deck. finnpoe moment fr. poe gives him his jacket back in order to get the keep it it looks good on you line.

meanwhile ben is back on his ship(i guess its the falcon?) and he thinks about finn and his mom and luke or something.. a dream maybe?? idk something emotional and motivational for his arc. and he goes to a box under the floor in his ship and pulls out a green lightsaber. he turns the ship around.

on the ship poe finn han and chewie are planting the bombs and escaping when they get stopped by stormtroopers ordered by rey. poe is about to be shot by a big droid thing when it is cut in half by ben wow big reveal hes here oooo ah. rey is shot in the shoulder by chewie and angrily orders more stormtroopers. they cant take them all. han sacrifices himself by blowing up the bridge. he tells finn and poe to find luke in the mandolorian colony ben is distraught him and han have an emotional goodbye he tells him to tell leia he’s sorry and that he loves him and he proud of him then he makes chewy get ben out of there and he blows himself up. leia senses it v sad rip man but he had to die to intensify plot drama

rey chases them onto the ice planet and another weird charged moment. mind link established??? this time ben is too angry and grieving though so its not a good match and she wounds him real bad all over hes v scarred now. poe shoots at rey and throws lightsaber at finn. he gets ben onto the ship and finn and rey have the big force awakens show down. finn uses the force v powerful all that jazz the good guys get away. on the ship finn mentions how he felt a connection with rey to poe and claims he sees good in her

movie ends with meeting luke on mandolore. ben is very traumatised wont really speak to finn or poe and avoiding luke. finn returns lukes lightsaber and rey has doubts movie over. movies ends with ominous rey ben mind link

final notes (on first movie and overarching rewrite plans)

finn

finn is the protagonist of this movie so it would be much more character heavy on him them the original. more in depth on his stormtrooper trauma, how he always chooses the people he loves over the cause and his reluctance to join the rebellion. his friendship with poe and the han/leia parallel’s especially. relationships with han and ben important for his character exposition and he plays a key role in supporting both rey and bens character progression. possesses the strong sense of mercy and kindness at the heart of the star wars franchise.

rey

rey is raised in the first empire and does not know anything different. when she meets finn who was able to rebel and escape from the same system she is trapped in she becomes plagued by doubts and projects all of her hatred and resentment onto finn to compensate, but it is clear she fears him. to escape from her doubts she fixates on finding and capturing ben solo imagining him to be a frightening and terrible adversary. however when she meets him they see eachothers minds, and she sees how plagued by doubt and fear he is, how he runs from everything and he sees her too. they connect and develop a strange mutual fascination/understanding. this is put askew by finns appearance at the end of the movie in defence of ben. reys fear of finn increases when she sees the true extent of his power. she fears and hates equally finns strength of character and easy goodness and by extension hates ben for his alliance with finn. she blames finn for “taking” ben from her.

ben solo

kylo ren is a disgusting blight on the star wars names so ben solo is being completely reclaimed by me into a different character because i fucking hate that stupid pretentious eboy. instead ben solo is an incredibly han solo coded character with a heart of gold and deep love and loyalty to his friends and family. his main weakness as a character in this rewrite is his fear and lack of self belief. ben is terrified of being a jedi and of his own power. he fears his own nature and was so afraid he would become his grandfather that he ran from the jedi altogether. ben solo is a runner that wont face his problems, he runs from the jedi and from his parents to avoid failing or becoming something terrible. finn and ben recognise the need to run in eachother (although important distinction finn runs because he doesn’t want to fight for a cause. and ben runs because hes afraid he will be the reason the cause fails) and ultimately encourage eachother to break the cycle and stand their ground (well finn motivated ben in this movie, finns not fixed yet.) Bens arc in these movies is about learning to live with his own nature and fighting for what he believes in despite his fear. also dealing with mommy issues (ben is kind of jealous of poe and leias relationship the son she wanted or something blah blah blah etc) and being a malewife to his murder girlfriend. his job is kind of to support and fight with finn and later rey and help them save the world

finnpoe (will be a gay couple)

their friendship will be front and centre in these movies because they represent duty vs personal loyalty. poe puts the cause above all else and values his own life and personal relationships little. finn on the other hand is disillusioned with establishment cause of stormtrooper trauma and wants to protect himself and others from it. poe is the first person that finn truly bonds with and loves. he puts poe above everything, including being a jedi and the rebellion. this leads to a lot of fighting and discord between finn and poe as finn doesn’t understand how important the rebellion is to poe and poe doesnt get why finn is trying to protect him from it. ultimately though poe teaches finn faith and belief and finn teaches poe to accept love and value himself. (also many hanleia parallels) the two of them are the harbingers of a new age. poe as future leader of the new republic and finn as the jedi messiah or whatever. in terms of romance, im thinking slowburn. baity first movie, kiss at the end of the second and established relationship by the halfway mark of the third.

also when rey eventually joins the light in the beginning she refuses to talk to ben (cause of romantic drama i havent thought of yet but centres around some sort or betrayal in the second movie) or finn (because hes her narrative foil and slow burn best friend forever) so her first friend is poe and she kind of follows him around in her first few months before she eventually bonds with finn 4eva. her poe shadowing has lots of cute friend moments where they fly together and he tries to talk her down about finn and the ben drama but also more importantly it foreshadows her leadership ability and tactical mind as she gives him advice and aids him with the rebellion behind the scenes (also leads to leia taking rey under her wing probably because poe is her surrogate son and mirror) which will eventually lead to her and poe leading the republic together because in my mind rey is a jedi but actively a member of republic government because ben can’t do politics and finn won’t but shes great at it so she’d be a perfect jedi liason and vice president to poe. meanwhile finn and ben lead the jedi. finn as a knight travelling across the galaxy and ben as a teacher. (luke is happy in retirement rn on mandalore but leia is still probably an advisor in the republic because retirement is definitely not for her) and everyone is happy the end. force ghost han solo is clapping.

Ahhhh thank you tbh I was afraid someone would ask about this one lmao

So the title is because the ship name for Poe Dameron and Ben Solo is Polo and that's... absolutely miserable. Some have adopted "dark pilot" which is better but still bleh IMO.

Anyway this is a Star Wars AU that came about because I heard The Rise of Skywalker claim Poe Dameron used to be a spice smuggler and I was like you did not make your one (1) Latino lead a drug dealer, and then just claim it's to make him like Han Solo when he's CLEARLY the Leia of the crew

So I wrote a different backstory for Poe where he is ALSO force sensitive and actually trained under Luke with Ben before he left Jedi training to join the resistance and I was rewriting the trilogy's events through that lens. I do genuinely like the series I just got stuck on the Finn/Rose story but I keep picking away at it. Someday I will finish the rewrite of The Last Jedi, but here's my fave snippet from it:

“What do you know about the Force?” Luke asked, leading them through the temple and out the other side to a cliff that looked out over the water.

“It’s a power the Jedi have,” said Rey. She looked to Poe for help, but he shrugged his shoulders. “It…” Rey hesitated. “It lets them control people and… make things float.”

Poe grinned, despite his trepidation at returning to training. He liked Rey’s definition.

“Impressive,” Luke said. “Every word in that sentence was wrong.” He gestured to a raised slab of stone. “Sit here, legs crossed. Poe, would you like to offer a better definition?”

“No, Master Skywalker,” Poe said. “I thought Rey did great. I guess she forgot about the part where it makes you jump really high.”

Eternal Emperor Vader au

Imagine that Darth Vader and Luke worked together to kill Palpatine like Rey and Kylo did.

Vader cements himself in the dark side by killing his master. Luke and Vader declares a peace that would last as long as one did not attack the other. The Empire regrouped and retreated into the Unknown Regions under Vader's leadership, while The New Republic is born.

The New Republic was born and began to heal the galaxy. Luke's new Jedi Order was founded. Mon Mothma as the Chancellor with Leia as Vice Chair. Han and Lando are the Ministers of Defense and Chewbacca is Ambassador to Kashyyyk. The New Republic did not demilitarize their fleet. They instead build and improve their fleet and build Star Defenders to combat the Star Destroyers. To defend their systems, fight the criminal syndicates and prepare for the eventual upcoming war with Emperor Vader.

The Empire is rebuilding it's strength after the defeat at Endor. Thrawn, Gideon, General Veers and Sloane are Vader's inner circle. Vader killed Rax the moment he learned of Palpatine's contingency plans. Vader found Galen Marek and turned him into his apprentice, his Starkiller, the final Inquisitor. Eventually Vader found Exegol. Killed Palpatine and took the Final Order's Sith Fleet for himself. Anyone and everyone loyal to Palpatine is dead. The Empire has become The New Sith Empire. On Exegol, the SIth Temple was reopened, similar to how The First Order abducted children for the new Sith Order.

The Sith have begun to infiltrate the New Republic which begins a cold war between the Sith and the New Republic. Then one day, the day that destroys everything Leia has built. The revelation that Darth Vader is Leia's father. Leia is shunned from The New Republic and this very event is what tips the balance to making this cold war hot.

Ben Solo's betrayal. Ben feels betrayed. All his life he was told the good man that his grandfather was. Hero of the Republic and Jedi Knight of the Jedi Council and that he died sacrificing his life to save the Jedi from The Emperor. He was lied to and he was consumed by rage and betrayal. Luke attempts to stop Ben's anger, but Ben attacks him and leaves him for dead. He gathers his 6 best friends and together they kill the New Jedi Order and venture to find Emperor Vader.

Ben Solo and his fellow Jedi become Kylo Ren and the Knights Of Ren and Vader's Elite Sith Warriors.

Luke flees to Ach-To. He has failed. The war that he was dreading is here and he has himself to blame for not telling Ben the truth.

Out of guilt and shame for failing his son. Han leaves to be a smuggler again. Hoping one day he can make things right with Leia and bring their son home.

Leia lost her son, her father has returned to wage war on her and destroy everything she has worked so hard to build, her brother went into hiding and Han left. Leia has no choice but to lead The Resistance.

Same things that happen in canon happens, but differently

Finn is abducted by The Sith Empire, but not by Phasma. By Iden Versio. Because Operation Cinder never happened, Iden never defects. Iden becomes what Phasma became, only she's a die hard believer and Finn and his squadron is the next generation of Inferno Squad

Poe Dameron is the son of Rebel heroes and is NOT a drug smuggler(fuck you JJ) he is taught by his father.

Rey is left on Jakku, but not because it was done to protect her by junk traders. It was done because her parents were scum. Her father was rejected by Palpatine and left to die and marooned on Jakku. They had Rey, but had nothing. They saw no value in Rey and sold her so they can get off of Jakku. Rey in a fit of rage kills them with the dark side. The trauma of it cuts Rey off from the force and represses the memory.

Paige Tico is the Y-Wing Bomber in Poe's Squadron and Rose Tico is the Intelligence Officer in The New Republic

Kylo Ren, Julian Veers(Veers' son replacing Hux) and Iden Versio are this version of the First Order's Triumvirate

Kylo Ren and Starkiller are at war with each other, each covet the throne from Vader and all they are waiting for is one sign of weakness and they will kill each other for to become Vader's heir.

However there is one thing that could turn the Empire against Vader. A cult of Palpatine loyalists lead by Snoke escaped Exegol and have one mission. Find the true Emperor's granddaughter. Train her and help her become the Empress and destroy the Skywalkers and bring a new age of darkness to the galaxy.

Or can the heirs of Vader and Palpatine come together and bring balance to the force and end this war and the eternal struggle between light and darkness?

I'd say Episode VII is about Vader's return and the beginnings of the war, bringing Han and Leia together, Han's death at the hands of his son, Rey/Finn vs Kylo, but ending with Finn finding Luke. What about Rey? After defeating Kylo Ren. She heard a voice. "Come find me Rey and find your belonging and your rightful place in this galaxy" Rey went to Snoke, while Chewey saved

Episode VIII. Allout war. After the destruction of Hosnian Prime, The New Republic joined forces with The Resistance and declared war on The Sith Empire. The connection between Rey and Ben is formed. But this gains the attentions of Starkiller. Starkiller saw the weakness in Kylo after his defeat at the hands of the scavenger, but now his sentiment just gives him the need to kill Kylo Ren once and for all. Poe and Paige are on the frontlines. Rose works with Leia to discover a way to disable the Xyston Class Star Destroyer lasers in order to prevent as much destruction as possible. Finn is able to pull Luke out of his exile. How? You see, Finn is Luke's son. The Sith Eternal abducted Finn before Luke and Mara could act. The abduction of Finn and the revelation of Vader being Anakin being revealed galaxy wide is what left Luke open to Ben's betrayal. Now that Finn is here, Luke knows he has to make this right. He spends the rest of the movie training Finn. Rey finds her way to Snoke. Snoke reveals the truth to Rey and this shakes her to her very core. One thing that Leia did not count on. Vader has arrived. He boards her ship like he did so long ago. She allows Rose to escape, while she confronts her father. Vader gives her a chance to surrender and join the dark side, it's the only way she can see her son. Leia takes her Lightsaber "I'm a Jedi, like my father once was" "So be it. Jedi" and so we get Vader vs Leia, while Rose enacts the plan to destroy the Xyston-Class fleet. Think the Mass Shadow Generator from KOTOR II, that is EXACTLY what Rose does. Kylo Ren and Starkiller fights in Fortress Vader. while Rey fights Snoke. Kylo Ren kills Starkiller to assume his place at Vader's side. Rey kills Snoke to free herself, she thought she was free until she hears a sinister voice. "You done well, my granddaughter." Meanwhile In the fight between Vader and Leia. Leia proclaims that she knew he was a good man, that her mother loved him, but that man is dead and all that's left is Vader. Vader aims to kill her and Leia gives herself to the force like Obi-Wan. Luke and Finn comes to the rescue and the New Republic rallies behind them. Vader and Luke have a staredown. Finn meets Rose, Rose is in awe of Finn, but Finn is just as in awe in Rose after Poe told her what she did, they congratulate each other and shook hands, a sure sign of friendship and something more. Finn feels distraught. They saved everyone, but they lost Leia and Rey is still missing. Luke tells his son "we have everything we need"

Episode IX. The battle of Coruscant. Stormtrooper Rebellion and the fate of the galaxy. Luke vs Vader. Rey vs Kylo vs Finn. Finn, Poe and Rose work together to stir up a Stormtrooper Rebellion. Finn faces Iden. When Iden has Finn down where she wants, Rose shoots her and Finn cuts her down with the lightsaber. Together Finn and Rose free his brothers and sisters. Ben has conflict. Despite everything he's done, his mother's death changed everything. She lied to him, but he still loved her. He thought his true place was by Vader's side, but this bond with Rey helped show that it's not too late that he can still come back. But Rey changed, she shut him out completely. Ben goes to Finn. Finn is defensive, but senses this is not the same man he fought on Starkiller Base. The final battle between the New Republic and the Sith Empire takes place over and on Coruscant. Luke faces Vader, while Rey and Ben face Empress Rey. Killing Leia changed Vader. a light he never thought possible was there. Luke tells his father it's not too late. No one's ever really gone. For once in his life. Vader shows remorse. Then suddenly force lightning. Empress Rey seeks to finish off Luke and Vader. Ben and Finn are there to try and reach the real Rey. For a brief moment, Anakin Skywalker returns. He takes the essence of Palpatine within him and tells everyone to end it once and for all. Rey, Finn and Ben kill Vader and Palpatine, ending the war once and for all. The movie ends with Lando as Chancellor and signing a peace treaty with Thrawn and Sloane. Finn and Rose get married, Luke rebuilds the Jedi Order. While both Ben and Rey go on a path of atonement to right their wrongs and a ends on a kiss in the Falcon.

AU where the First Order never comes to power, the Jedi are doing alright, Poe Dameron is a scoundrel, and Ben Solo has a support system

Reckless Poe Dameron has no war effort to join and becomes a smuggler (with a streak of employer betrayal for the sake of his selfless need to do good).

Sometime during his personal adventures he rescues his grouchy copilot-to-be from his Empire-loyalist family: Armitage Hux. His mechanic Rose Tico does her best not to roll her eyes at their bickering.

But, when on the run from their own illegal dealings and with a busted hyperspace mechanism, the quartet (BB-8 is a vital member of this criminal crew, ofc) crashes on Ahch-To, the site of the New Jedi Temples.

Knowing Captain Dameron, he gets roped up in a kriffing Force adventure with Jedi padawans Rey, Ben, and Finn.

Or, with the help of the sunshine trio, Rose’s gorgeous smile, and Hux’s complaining, Finn, Ben Solo and Rey Skywalker rid the galaxy of the Knights of Ren together, and Ben stops hearing the voices which speak of dark things.

You know this could scream FinnPoe. It’s your choice whether it’s reylo, kylux, or neither. Or, it could even be FinnRey.

Ships aren’t important, only that Ben’s lightsaber is blue, Finn’s got a cute Padawan braid, Rose gets an awesome gun blaster-slinger moment, and that Poe Dameron is too roguishly handsome for his own good.

Reylo Followers: possible AU???

Sorry to miraculous followers, I know I’ve been mia, but school is still kicking me in the head so I haven’t had much writing time!

All the same, I had a random thought/fic idea?? Basically it’s a Smuggler!Ben and eventual Dark!Rey AU, here’s my most basic premise:

Rey gets caught in the middle of Han stealing back the Falcon

She ends up joining his crew, hoping secretly to search for parents or even find belonging somewhere

Ben works for Han

Han and Ben are estranged from Leia because although Ben doesn’t know, they fought over how to raise him, and Han took him and left

Ben doesn’t really know who his mom is

or his uncle

or his grandfather

Rey and Ben have an awkward meeting on the Falcon

But eventually get close

possibly platonic fluff ensues?

Going on missions together

talking, bonding

Turns out Rey’s force sensitive, which puts Snoke and company on her trail

(honestly we can go with Rey Nobody or Rey Somebody, doesn’t play too much into the story)

(Ben hasn’t discovered his Force abilities yet since Han took him so young, and Snoke is more interested in Rey this time around)

Rey gets taken, basically forced to forget Ben and everything and surrender to Snoke and the dark side

Ben unfortunately never got the chance to tell her his feelings before she’s taken by Snoke and company

In a last-ditch effort to save her before the ship taking her gets away, he unintentionally unlocks his force abilities

Conversation with Han ensues

Basically: “Who am I?”

He learns his true lineage

He seeks out Luke, getting the map, having to beat Rey to it

Luke trains him

Semi-reverse Reylo ensues, with a hint of Winter Soldier/Cap vibes because Ben loves her but she doesn’t remember him and Snoke has to contain her memories

Angst, of course

Maybe the force bond is here too?

Followed by happy ending!

Imagine the possibilities??

Just some thoughts. Maybe someday I’ll write the full fic?

Reylo Monster Week - Vampires

So I’m a day late. Whatever. This is Dark!Rey/Smuggler!Ben. Enjoy!

For all the bedtime stories that his parents told him as a youngling about the forest moon of Endor, something about it had piqued his interest to see it for himself. A smuggler following in his father's footsteps, with a reputation of his own, Ben Solo had visited most planets either for business purposes or hiding from thugs. His freighter Ghost, that he had acquired years earlier, was pulled into the gravitational field of Endor's moon as he found himself on the run yet again. The ship crashed to a halt in an open meadow, tearing up a trail of dirt in its wake.

Nervously running his fingers through his jaw-length silky chocolate locks, with braids on the crown to keep his bangs out of his eyes, and rising to his feet from the captain's chair, he released the lock for the ramp to exit the freighter, checking that his blaster was secured to the holster on his thigh and cautiously looked around the forested terrain.

Against Ben's better judgement, he found himself trekking into the woods as the trees grew denser. His skills as a smuggler taught him to always be on guard but that didn't stop him from his ankle getting twisted in the tripwire that lifted him upside down into a large rope net high in an evergreen, as he let out a surprised yell.

"What the ?? Who's there?" Ben called out, his hand immediately reaching for his blaster as a group of teddy bears..Ewoks, his parents called them, pointed spears at him and spoke among themselves in an odd dialect. Before he knew it, he landed hard on his back, eyes rolling in pain as he grunted loudly. He slowly struggled to sit up and found his wrists tied behind his back and forced to his feet. Sharp spears threatened to poke his ribs if he wandered away from the trail they followed.

In the treehouse, Ben stood awkwardly with spearheads raised to his face, as he looked around the primitive hut. Out of the blue, he heard a strange static humming in his ear, but was uncertain where it could be originating from. Only then, did he notice the slender girl perched on the reed throne watching him. A single dark bun was twisted at the crown of her head and the rest flowing free past her shoulders. Dark red lips, skin white as snow with freckles dusted on her nose, and eyes that flashed from gold to blood red and back, captivated his fascination. Ben didn't know what or who she was, but he had never seen more attractive woman in his thirty years.

His mouth went dry as she opened hers, canine fangs peeking out on each side. "I've been waiting for you, Benjamin Solo. I've heard so much about you." She slowly rose to her feet and glided over to circle him, as his eyes never left her. The humming got louder but seemed to be content in her presence.

Author’s note: I am planning to wrap this piece up before The Rise of Skywalker, over two and a half years after I started writing it!

The crash of transparisteel shattering and flying everywhere brought Doctor Kalonia and a score of medical droids and other personnel running to Ben Solo’s room. The resulting chaos only served to set Ben and Rey more on edge, both visibly tense. While the droids hurried to clean up the mess and bring new medicines and equipment, Doctor Kalonia tended to her patient and tried to ignore the menacing Master of the Knights of Ren.

Ben could hardly hear the doctor’s questions.

“No, I’m alright,” he mumbled, closing his eyes and bringing the crook of his arm up to rest over them as reinforcement. His heart was pounding in his ears and his vision blurred again. He took a deep breath, and tried to center himself in the Force, ignoring his wife’s roiling emotions.

Rey had betrayed him after all. She obviously regretted the gesture, having gone after him on Tatooine and staying with him here, but she had made the choice nonetheless. She had made good on her original threat from all those months before, when they first met. He had forgotten about her threat until now, had never dreamed it would have been Rey who called in the bounty on his head.

His family had a lot of enemies. He had a lot of enemies. He thought his wife wasn’t one of them any longer.

They had been through so much together in their short marriage. He thought they were a solid team, one which could take down Snoke and restore balance to the Force. He admitted to himself that he hadn’t considered what would happen after they brought down the Supreme Leader. Rey would have no reason to stay in their marriage after that; the treaty would certainly be considered invalid. Hux would certainly try to consolidate power and retain control of the First Order. The threat would not be over for a long time. He would need Rey’s help to prevent another galactic civil war.

But how could he trust her now? She obviously didn’t trust him. She hadn’t told him about the First Order’s failure to adhere to the disarmament terms in their marriage treaty. But then again, he hadn’t told her the Resistance had also kept the status quo and failed to disarm. She could see the proof of that now.

If they were to work together, truly, there could be no more secrets. No more lies by omission.

It was a lie by omission that had nearly cost Ben Solo his soul when he discovered the truth about his family. The entire HoloNet spared no thought for Leia Organa’s son, cared nothing for the fact that she was raised by Queen Breha and Viceroy Bail Organa, that they were his grandparents in everything but blood. It could have been him draped in a black cape like his grandfather before him and his wife now, using the name and title Ren in Rey’s place, a red lightsaber glowing at his side.

But he hadn’t let it destroy him. He hadn’t let Snoke destroy him. And he wouldn’t let this destroy the marriage and life he wanted to build.

He thought back to all those months before, when the treaty was proposed, when his mother asked him if he was sure he wanted to do this, told him that he didn’t need to sacrifice his own happiness for the Resistance and the New Republic.

“If I go to her, Rey Palpatine will turn,” he had said. He believed it then. He needed to believe it now.

He pulled himself out of his memories. He would go to her, again.

“Doctor, could you leave us?” he finally found himself asking.

The doctor sighed, but he was certain she was unsurprised. “You need to rest,” she said, looking him in the eyes when he finally opened them. “Nothing strenuous,” she said, eyeing Rey carefully. With that, she rose from Ben’s bedside and carefully closed the door behind her.

The room was quiet and clean, the droids having swept away any trace of the aftermath of Ben’s Force outburst.

Ben looked at Rey, who had an inscrutable look on her face.

“Ben, I--” she started, but he shook his head.

“I don’t want to hear it,” he said, trying to be gentle with the harsh words. “If we’re to trust each other, and move on from this together, there can be no more lies, no more secrets. Do you agree?”

“Yes,” she replied, softly, but firmly.

“And obviously our superior officers need to also tell us the full truth. Do you agree with that, as well?”

“Hux is not my superior officer,” she said, making a face. “I want nothing more to do with him. Or Snoke, or the First Order, for that matter. I just want freedom for me and my Knights. I don’t want to be part of your mother’s Resistance, either.”

Ben nodded. “You’ve been thinking about this.”

Rey nodded in turn. “I’m ready to be my own master, make my own decisions. I didn’t choose to marry you, but you’ve presented me with more choices in life than I’ve ever had.”

Ben knew how that felt, to be pressured to please everyone else, to not have a choice in where he went and from whom he learned.

“You’re not alone,” he said, his eyes moist and his soul bare.

“Neither are you,” she replied. She walked over to him, and held out her hand to touch his. The Force flowed through them, uniting them as one, truly and fully. He could feel her, in his mind, his heart, and his soul. He would not repeat the mistakes of the past. He was not his uncle, his mother, his grandfather, just as Rey was not her parents, her grandfather, her master.

They sat, silently holding hands, until Ben fell asleep. He awoke when his mother entered the room to find Rey had somehow clambered into his small medical bed and found her way into his arms.

- Team Hux or Team Ren? by AdamJensens General Hux overhears a conversation between stormtroopers that opens his eyes to a competition between the troops of the First Order. He discovers his subordinates are not only loyal and devoted but also obsessed – Hux has fans. So does Kylo Ren, and there's a kind of war going on between the two groups calling themselves Team Hux and Team Ren. What Hux doesn't know yet is that there's a third group solely focused on shipping the two co–commanders. There's fanfiction, fanart and all kinds of crazy theories.
