Cradle of Life: Final Part

Title: The Cradle of Life

Summary: After your father’s death, you’re sent a box of his belongings. Come to find out, one of your father’s enemies is after said belongings so you reach out to a few of your friends for help.

Warnings: mentions of guns/shooting; character death (lots of them); mentions of blood; and I think that’s it. I apologize if I missed anything but you are responsible for what you read.

Wordcount: 1,908

Pierce has you and T’Challa lead the way with himself and Brock on either side of the pair of you. The others are following close behind along with Pierce’s men. Pierce agreed to let the Dora Milaje along with Edwin and Jake to go back to the village. You had just reached the land where the Shadow Guardians are supposed to reside. There was an unnatural eeriness that sent a shiver down your spine. All sorts of sounds echoed throughout the land. Whether it was something wailing or screeching, it twisted your gut. You know now that you shouldn’t be here. Growling noises from an unknown creature causes goosebumps to form on your skin. You look over at T’Challa and you can see the fear in his eyes.

Pierce tugs on your arm roughly as he scans the view in front of him, eyeing the dead trees and mostly barren land. “It’s through there?”

“Hmmhmmm.” You respond with a nod.

Pierce leans forward and is inches from your face. “Ladies first.”

“Bite me.”

Pierce smirks before he tightens his grip even more on your arm and shoves you forward. You stumble a bit but quickly regain your balance. You look over your shoulder before cautiously taking a few steps. Screeching from a nearby set of apes, sets you on edge and you take a moment to collect yourself. Soon after, you’re joined by the others and Pierce’s men begin to spread out, armed and ready. You do your best to move quietly and to take soft steps as you walk. A blood curdling scream breaks the eeriness of the quiet and you look around to find your group still alive.

“What was that?” Brock inquires, you can hear the fear in his voice. He then points to one of his men. “You! Check it out!”

“Keep moving!” Pierce orders you.

Multiple growls begin to appear and your mind instantly goes to the Shadow Guardians. They were making their presence known. Another one of Pierce’s men screams and you swore you could hear his limbs being ripped apart. Panic begins to arise as the men start randomly shooting at nothing, they’re too quick for them to aim properly.

“Back in formation, now!” Brock orders the men.

Growling sounds, deep and viscous, begin to appear again followed by men screaming. The Shadow Guardians were picking off the group one by one and relentlessly so. All of Pierce’s men were running off in different directions and the sounds of the Shadow Guardians started to sound closer. You take a look around and just as Shuri and T’Challa were about to take off you speak up, not wanting to see your friends get torn apart.

“No, don’t! They seem to react to movement.” You explain and everyone seems to listen to you.

It feels like hours before the growling from the Shadow Guardians seem to stop. The quiet eeriness returned.

“They’re gone.” Pierce comments, you could hear the relief in his voice. “We’re close, I’ve seen it in your eyes. Take me to Pandora’s box.”

“I don’t know how.” You lie, well, not entirely.

“Do it, now! Or I start killing off your friends.” Piece warns and you narrow your gaze at him. “Don’t believe me?” Pierce then takes his gun and aims it at Zemo, he waits for a brief moment to give you a chance to change your mind. He then pulls the trigger and shoots Zemo in the chest.

You look away as Zemo falls to the ground, groaning as he does and blood spills out of him and onto the ground. Zemo begins to sputter and coughs up blood when something that the chief had said pops into your head, ‘Only with the orb can it be revealed.’

“All right! I’ll need the orb.” You can tell Pierce is hesitant to give it back after he retrieved it from Zemo earlier. You roll your eyes as you let out a huff. “Do you want to see The Cradle of Life or not?”

“You tell me what to do with it.” Pierce orders as he has Brock hand him the satchel.

You move quickly as you sweep Pierce off of his feet by kicking his legs out from under him and grabbing the satchel. You pull the orb out and run towards an erect mound and drop the orb down into the tunnel. The ground then begins to shake as a portal begins to crumble the mound and you also fall through. Pierce had scrambled to his feet and jumped in after you. Rick was about to do the same thing when Brock pointed his gun at Rick’s head causing Rick to stop.

“Don’t even think about it, lover boy.” Brock says as he cocks his gun.

You groan from the impact of the fall, you definitely didn’t land on something soft. You sat up and looked around at your new surroundings. The chief of the tribe was right, you had a hard time trying to decipher where one rock formation started and where one ended. It all blended in as one. You get up to your feet and Pierce instantly grabs you by your arm.

“Don’t think you can outwit me, Y/l/n.” He warns.

You couldn’t help but roll your eyes. “Oh, do shut up!”

There’s a brief moment of silence as Pierce glances around. “So, this is The Cradle of Life.” Pierce then shoves you forward. “Let’s go.”

The two of you then begin to walk down one of the tunnels. The longer you walked and the longer you were in here, you could feel a sense of disorientation trying to take over. You could also begin to feel the madness that ran through the veins of these tunnels. When you reached the end, it opened up to a small open area. You could hear bubbling coming from the pool of thick, black liquid. The smell that filled your nostrils was terrible, making you want to plug your nose. In the middle of the pool was a small, golden box floating on the surface.

“There it is.” Pierce begins, in awe of what he’s witnessing. “Perfect, isn’t it? All that power in such a banal container. When Pandora saw inside the box, she cried a black acid for tears. And as it was a woman who found the box, I see no reason to break with tradition. A woman should collect the box!” Pierce smirks as he brings his attention to you, noticing the disdain for him written all over your face.

“It is impossible to reach.” You snap back at him, narrowing your eyes at him even more.

Pierce then trips you but grabs you by the wrist before you fall into the pool of acid. Your feet are planted firmly to the ground and your other arm to your side. You turn your head to glare back at Pierce and the acid singes off some of your hair.

“Go on!” Pierce orders you.

You carefully tried to reach for the orb but it is just out of reach. “I can’t!”

Before Pierce could do anything, the sound of a gun cocking behind him causes him to freeze. “Pull her back in.” Rick orders.

You couldn't help but feel the smallest bit of relief when you hear Rick’s voice. You keep your focus on the scene in front of you, instantly noticing the smirk that develops on Pierce’s face.

“You kill me and she immediately falls to her death.”

Rick presses the gun to Pierce’s head. “Now.”

The next few events happen so quickly but just as Pierce is about to aim his gun, Rick shoots him in his shoulder. You saw your life flash before your eyes and you could feel the air escape your lungs. Thankfully, Rick was quicker and was able to pull you back in. Pierce stumbled all over the place and just as he was about to regain his balance, you pushed him into the pool of acid. You and Rick jump back as the acid splashes and for a moment, you think it’s finally over. Until Pierce resurfaces, screaming in agony as his skin is melting off. He tries to swim to shore but doesn’t even make it half way before he goes back under with his hand reaching out. You were about to turn and leave when you heard something clanking against the shore. It was Pandora’s box. You were about to turn and leave again when Rick’s curiosity got the better of him. You tilt your head as you watch Rick walk towards the box and watch as he carefully picks it up.

“Rick? What are you doing?”

Rick pulls his gaze from the box and flicks over to you. “You’re joking right? We’re taking this with us. This is ours.”

You position yourself in front of the exit. “You’re not walking out of here with that box.”

Rick narrows his gaze. “So, you’re saying we just leave it, when it’s worth a fortune?”

“Put it back.” You order.

“I don’t think so.” Rick is right in front of you and you’re looking up at him.

“It could kill millions of innocent people.” You do your best to try to convince him.

“Now, you’re being dramatic!”

“Put it back.” You put a little more emphasis on each word.

“No! I’ve helped you keep this away from Pierce. This is my reward. I’m taking it with me.” You don’t budge from your spot and Rick retaliates by punching you in the stomach and giving you a kick to the ribs when you’re down. “So, it’s come to this, has it?”

You get back up on your feet, holding your side as you stand there. Rick glances down and sees Pierce’s gun now in your hand and scoffs.

“Better do it, then. ‘Cause if you think standing in front of me is gonna be enough,” Rick then slaps you across the face and you begin to taste iron. You lick your bottom lip and feel the cut there. “You don’t have it in you to stop me. See, all your beliefs, all your ideals, they’re not real. I am. And you’ve loved me. You think you’re strong but you’ll not choose them over me.” Rick pauses and takes a couple of deep breaths and you couldn’t help the small whimpers that escaped. “Now move.” He orders.

Your voice wavers as you reply. “No.”

Rick lets out a huff. “Fine.”

A gunshot rings in your ears as it echoes through the cavern. A tear slips down your cheek as Rick collapses to the ground. You take a moment to collect yourself before you walk to the box and pick it up. While you hold the box, you could feel the heaviness of what Pandora’s box held within and for the briefest moment, you thought about opening it. But your better judgment came over you before you could. You squat down to the shore and gently place the box back into the pool of acid. It floated back out to the middle and watched as the acid claimed the box. You watched until the box was completely submerged under the acid. You let out an exhausted huff of air and could feel a huge weight lift off of your shoulders. You turn and start to make your way out of the Cradle of Life.

As the world was safe now.

EAH OC Introductions

After way too long here are my EAH ocs

Zelda Dagmar (Talia Ryder FC), Darling Charming ship, destined to be the next Maid Marian. She's originally a Royal, she doesn't love the implied boringness of being Maid Marian but likes Sparrow and is okay with the idea of being married to him in the future, until she partners with Darling for a project and starts questioning if that's really what she wants in life. Her roommate is Lilly Bo-Peep

Petra Scrooge (Mikey Madison FC), Raven Queen ship, daughter of Ebenezer Scrooge and a Rebel. She doesn't want to have to become an asshole business owner and be haunted by ghosts for a night, she just wants to enjoy her friends and holidays and have a good time. Her roommate is Jillian Beanstalk and she joins the Rebels very shortly after Raven doesn't sign the book

Lucinda Silberhaus (Thomasin McKenzie FC), Hopper Croakington II ship, daughter of Clara from the Nutcracker and a Rebel. Though she is only a Rebel in the sense of allowing others to choose their destiny as she is pretty happy with her story herself, she's a dancer and very interested in Hopper though since he doesn't get as nervous around her, she thinks he's not interest. Her roommate is Duchess Swan and she is a later supporter of the Rebels

Teddy Pendragon (Daniel Sharman FC), Dexter Charming ship, son of King Arthur and a Royal. He's destined to lead Camelot and he's down for all of that, Daring is his best friend and they're the top two princes of the school and he does not understand the Rebels at all. His roommate is Tiny and aside from classes, originally doesn't really talk to Dexter

Orsel Pendragon (Kristine Froseth FC), Chase Redford or Faybelle Thorn ship, younger daughter of King Arthur and a Rebel. Her destiny is believed to be the Lady of the Lake and before the signing of the Storybook of Legends it seems like she's okay with that but secretly she wants to be the next King Arthur very badly. Once Raven doesn't sign and people begin choosing their own destiny, she is quick to join them, even at the loss of her relationship with her brother. Her roommate is Nina Thumbell

Kibbe Body Types, Part 2: David Duchovny

Gillian Anderson's Kibbe analysis here; beginner's guide here.

Okay.

So.

We're going to have to do this analysis a little differently.

David Kibbe has a thorough quiz to type your body correctly... if you're a woman. So... I'm going to have to go around the mulberry bush a bit to arrive at David Duchovny's Kibbe Type.

...Why don't you tag along with me? We'll find out together.

(Spoiler: I already know his Type.)

KIBBE BODY TYPES-- BUT FOR MEN

(**Note**: You can skip this section if extra reading isn't your thing.)

Kibbe identifies female bodies through their height, their hips, their chest, their waist, and their shoulders. However, male bodies are a whole different ballgame: width is the key measure-- of greater importance even than height-- as well as the softness or "fleshiness" of the frame.

THANKFULLY, Aly Art's got my back with this video.

Now: we must identify the yin-- soft, delicate, short, light-- qualities and separate them from the yang-- strong, tall, lean, vertical, angular, sharp-- qualities. Everybody has a blend of those two traits slapped on their skeletons; but Kibbe tried (tries) to keep it as simple as possible.

There are five basic body types; and those five types are divided into yang (sharp) and yin (soft) variants.

Dramatics-- 100% yang energy: tall, lean, strong, hard. They look angular and heavy. Typically have smaller eyes, prominent nose and chin, and thin lips.

Benedict Cumberbatch, Sean Connery, Charlton Heston, Ricardo Montalban, Errol Flyn, Daniel Craig

Soft Dramatics-- predominant yang energy with some yin added: softness and fleshiness added to their sharp, angular frame.

Dean Martin, Christian Bale, Matthew McConoughy, John Travolta, Nicholas Cage, Clark Gable

Flamboyant Naturals-- strong and hard, but with wide, blunted edges. They appear sporty or athletic: moderate to tall height, wider shoulders, and slimmer waists and hips.

Calvin Klein, Dick Van Dyke, Harrison Ford, Clint Eastwood, Tom Selleck (maybe), Michael Landon (maybe), Joe Biden

Soft Naturals-- like the FNs, they are wide, and blunted; but their width is softened by added fleshiness, appearing slightly less tall, less dense and more delicate. They sport plusher, softer cheeks, lips, torso, and thighs; and often appear "cuter" than FNs, Ds, and SDs.

Alan Alda, OJ Simpson, John Wayne, Robert Redford, Robert Conrad, Bing Crosby, Tom Cruise, George Clooney, Gene Kelly, Brad Pit, Gene Hackman

Dramatic Classics-- is an even, "average" mixture of yin and yang elements with a slightly more dominant yang presence. They have a very blended bone structure with tauter cheeks and more predominant facial features.

Carey Grant, John Ham

Soft Classics-- is an even, "average" mixture of yin and yang elements with a slightly more delicate yin presence. They have a very blended bone structure with softer lips and fleshier cheeks.

John Slattery, John Glenn, Gregory Peck, Bryant Gumbel

Romantics-- is 100% yin: smaller, shorter, softer, more delicate. No sharp angles. They appear gentler, less harsh, less "brutally" masculine than their Dramatic and Natural counterparts.

Colin Firth, Leonardo DiCaprio, Elijah Wood, Simon Baker, Richard Gere, Michael Jackson, Omar Shereef, Billy Dee Williams, Elvis Presley

Theatrical Romantics-- is 100% yin with a taut touch of yang to their features: narrow, delicate bones instead of fully-rounded, softly-widened angles.

David Kibbe, Orlando Bloom, Prince, Johnny Depp

Flamboyant Gamines-- an uneven mixture of yin and yang elements, with more pronounced yang in their angularity and sharpness. They have small, rectangular muscularity: angular facial bones, smaller shoulders and torso, some tautness to their physique.

Jimmy Kimmel, Frank Sinatra, Neil Patrick Harris

Soft Gamines-- an uneven mixture of yin and yang elements, with more pronounced yin in their rounded curves and softness. They appear the most "cute" of the types: an even smaller Gamine, with softer cheeks, softer noses, softer lips, bigger eyes, smaller hands, etc.

Fred Astaire, Robert Downy Jr.

THE MAN, THE MYTH, THE MONOTONE

David's frame is dominated by prominent, long vertical lines-- dare I say, blunt edges?-- and shoulders that appear-- or are?-- wider because of his narrow waist and hips.

Using this previous post as a rough guide to map out his features, DD has pronounced yin-- softer cheeks, rounder nose, softened jawbone, softer flesh over his muscles-- but not enough to cover or dominate the long, strong bones in his frame and overall musculature.

I have my suspicions, and they swing Soft Natural (not enough T-bone shoulder to fit Flamboyant Theatrical); but let's put this theory to the test.

COMPARISON IS OUR REPRIEVE AND JOY

But you ask: how are we going to type the Man, the Myth, the Monotone without a handy dandy reference guide?

Easy peasy. We compare him to other body types and notate the differences.

David and Gamines

We're eliminating Gamines first because their shorter lines, shorter stature, and more angular or rounded bodies are in direct opposition to his longer, denser lines.

Compared to DD's wider shoulders, denser frame, and squarer facial features, Jimmy Kimmel and Lucy Liu (and TR Gillian Anderson) appear more "weightless", narrower, and more angular.

Soft Gamine Winona Ryder and Halle Berry appear weightless as well; but their angular features are tempered by a layer of softness that corresponds with the fleshiness of David's face, too.

David and Romantics

We have a look-a-like for this section: Richard Gere, a pure Romantic.

Compared to DD's wide shoulders, slim torso and hips, and more defined musculature (even at his skinniest), Richard is composed of rounded curves, more delicate facial and skeletal bones, and a soft layer of flesh over his torso, arms, thighs, and legs. Even at Richard's fittest, there was still a softness present in his body that could not be chiseled away or hidden.

The two Romantic Type women below-- Drew Barrymore, pure Romantic; Gillian Anderson, Theatrical Romantic-- again highlight the density of David's structure, bringing out a "heavier" presence than the Gamines had previously.

David and Classics

Is David a Classic Type? Frankly, no-- his bones are too long and dense to be moderate and balanced; and he, even more frankly, looks terrible in very quaffed, groomed, and buttoned-up outfits.

Compared to DD's length and width, Dramatic Classics appear more proportionate, their touch of sharpness blending in with-- not rivalling-- the balance of their frames. DC Carey Grant's more balanced edges bring out the angles in DD's face, more so than the Gamines or Romantics did.

By contrast, Soft Classics' proportionate frames contain a touch of softness-- Meryl Streep's yin calls forth David's, appearing more rounded instead of angular or blunt.

David and Dramatics

Compared to David, Dramatics' structure is more elongated, narrow, and angular. Dramatic Benedict Cumberbatch has sharper, more prominent features, less width across his shoulders and torso, and barely any yin to speak of in his face.

(I also suspicion Tea Leoni as a Dramatic; so sneaked her in here.)

Soft Dramatics have the elongated sharpness of the Dramatics with a soft, fleshy padding over the tautness of their features. Compared to SD Christian Bale's sharpness-in-spite-of-his-softness, DD's softer, blunter edges become more obvious.

David and Naturals

And last but not least, we reach the native soil of David Duchovny's body type.

Flamboyant Naturals are a close but not perfect match-- their elongated, blunt width not only matches but exceeds DD's shoulders, torso, arms, legs, and facial features. FN Harrison Ford looks denser, more muscular, and even more athletic when compared to his softer brother from a different mother.

Soft Naturals: finally, David is home! Soft Naturals have the width and length of the FNs Types softened and slightly moderated by an added, pronounced yin quality. Their face, lips, arms, torso, and slim waist appear less blunt (if no less wide); and the dense musculature of their frame is less noticeable in comparison.

LINES, SILHOUETTES, AND OTHER FASHION ADVICE

Now that David's found his SN kind, I shall pack him up a little box lunch of good wardrobe advice to take with him. ...Or that was the theory, except it is notoriously hard to get my hands on Kibbe Body Type advice for men.

I shall do my best to transcribe and transform Aly Art's excerpts (here) from David Kibbe's Metamorphosis book:

"Soft Natural: it is the overall combination of the very soft yin with the yang undercurrent. Slightly soft and fleshy body type on an angular frame combined with an appealing, innocent essence.

Height: moderate.... Bone structure: slightly angular bones, slightly broad shoulders, moderate to slightly short limbs, slightly leggy look also possible. Blunt or small and irregular facial contours-- nose, cheekbones, and jawline. Hands and feet are moderate and fleshy, or slightly small and wide. Body type: slightly soft..... Facial features: full and rounded. Round eyes, round eyes, full lips, soft cheeks. Nose tends small and wide; or slightly irregular, blunt or wide. If overweight, the body tends to become extremely soft and fleshy, with the waist thickening. The upper hips, arms, and thighs tend to collect excess weight most rapidly.

"Physically, you are basically angular in bone structure-- although this is softened by a fleshy body type and full facial features.... To disperse your soft yin undercurrent..., we want to develop an appearance that could best be described as fresh and sensual....

"Shape: Asymmetric and irregular curves-- elongated ovals, wide circles, ellipticals, and so on. Relaxed geometrics with rounded edges, easy swirls. You might not look as good in sharp geometrics; in wide, chunky, and boxy shapes; in plain, symmetrical shapes; in overly ornate shapes.

"Line and silhouette: unconstructed silhouette with shaping, particularly at waist. Relaxed lines with subtle drape and flow, particularly bias cuts.

You might not look as good in wide, shapeless silhouettes; in sharp, severe silhouettes; in symmetrical silhouettes; in fitted silhouettes.

"Details: details should be loose, relaxed, delicate, slightly intricate, and very creative. Any detail that suggests a bit of antique or the earth is excellent. Shoulders should not be sharp or stiff. Necklines should be loose and soft, not closed, restricted, or fussy. Simple draped necklines; soft cowls; soft notched collars; clean lapels; shawl collars; and so on. Waist should be defined, although loosely: there can be a slightly blousy effect with the top draped over the waistline, or a slightly dropped waist as long as the silhouette is fluid. Gathers and falls should be deep, full, and soft; sleeves can be full and flowing, or gently tapered at the wrist with minimum detail.

"Trim should be delicate and antique, shearing applique, and so on. You might not look as good in sharply tailored detail, in no detail, in overly fitted and fussy detail, in animated, perky detail."

Conclusion

David Duchovny's gonna do and wear what he's gonna do and wear. And that's just fine~.

That and I FINISHED MY 3 DAY+ KIBBE PROJECT DESPITE MANY, MANY HICCUPS ALONG THE WAY!!!!

Ngl jimin looks someone from royal family like we could spread the word he's prince of xyz place and everyone is gonna believe it no questions asked. He screams EXPENSIVE.

Won't lie but jimin is the most elegant human i have ever seen, i mean i have never seen an elegant man before him and the ones i know are all women but this man here surpasses even them women. It's the way he can be anything he want and i love that for him.

I hate doing this but I don’t really know what to do anymore. I’m facing daily abuse and gaslighting at the hand of my sister and I am constantly terrified that she’ll turn violent. I barely sleep or eat in attempts to avoid her and keep myself safe.

I’m currently in the process of trying to save up enough to move out but it’s been hard due to the fact I’m disabled and am unable to find work in the area I’m stuck in.

my friend and I have a fundraiser set up to try and get enough for a security deposit and a month of rent for me to find an apartment, anything you can do, even just sharing this post, would help immensely

I also fully welcome commissions and I have a shop on etsy where I sell handmade patches and button pins
