Okay so I’m so sorry I had to draw more of Modern AU Volo instead of working on my fics… do not underestimate how distracted I can get, my attention span spins. Anyways, have a short little story:
It was terrifyingly awkward walking right along with this man, who called himself Volo. You swore he looked faintly familiar… but couldn’t remember why. Was he in an article you read online once? No, no, that couldn’t be…
“So! Your name is Y/N, am I right?”
The sudden question popped your little thought bubble into the wind. You looked at him with a questioning gaze.
“Unless there’s someone else with my name, I’d assume yes,” you said.
If possible, Volo’s smile stretched even wider, so brilliant, you could’ve sworn it was Arceus shining his reign down upon you peasants.
“So I did get the right person!”
He leaned to the side slightly closer. You frowned and looked to your left. At least this wasn’t far from the academy doors. What did Volo want with Director Clavell anyway?
“What? Someone sent for you to look for me to look for someone else?” Sarcasm dripped from your words.
“No need to be defensive around me, my friend,” Volo chuckled.
“If you appear out of nowhere with no communication, of course I have a right to be defensive and suspicious,” you shot back.
That’s when a hand firmly gripped your right shoulder. You managed to say a “Huh!?” in confusion, before getting pulled right against Volo.
“You’re a feisty one. But people like you are all words no show,” he said.
He puts one finger right in front of your mouth as you try to shoot another insult. “I’m certain I could also need someone to help me right now like you. People are staring.”
Indeed, folks were watching. But not all eyes were on you. They were on Volo, practically glued to the man. You felt uncomfortable as people glared daggers at you, but shook your head.
At least you could move your hands. A Pokéball flew out, and within moments, your starter was walking behind both of you. They returned the glares with a single move of their typings, threats spelled in their sharp eyes.
“Seems like your famous or something…”
“Jealous?” Volo inquired.
“N-no! That’s ridiculous!” You managed to sputter out to him.
The latter hummed, murmuring phrases that included the word denial. You decided enough was enough- why the hell did he piss you off so much!?
“Can you just stop acting like we’re best buddies or something?” You smacked his hand off of you.
Volo looked at you with an offensive stare. “I’m just trying to help out with whatever in Arceus is up with your mood.”
Anger started boiling in your stomach. Why? Why did you feel so much hatred to him? He didn’t even do anything wrong!
“Oh yeah, like clinging onto me is going to help,” you scoffed.
He went silent for a few moments. You watched as he shook his head in disbelief at your attitude, opting to put his hands inside his jeans pockets.
You only huffed before walking with crossed arms. He followed after a moments hesitation, head bowed down.
Even your starter looked appalled at your way of treating Volo. They returned into their Pokéball, only receiving an annoyed groan from you.
The turning points from Mesagoza here and there were more awkward than ever. There was an occasional “Who is that?” and “Is that his partner, or is the blondie single?”
He didn’t even look up at that. You grit your teeth, trying to remind yourself he was being annoying…
Before you turned your gaze back in one moment.
Volo was biting his lip, Arceus cap about to fall down from how he looked down onto the ground. His eyes darted to meet your own, before dodging to look at something else.
You stopped walking. He did too, though looked a little confused.
“Stop it.”
“Stop what?”
You sighed. How dense was this man?
Volo slightly flinched as you walked closer to him, before realizing what you were doing. You straightened his cap, and brushed back a few hair strands here and there. He looked slightly surprised, standing there with a dumb expression.
“Stop looking so sad. I forgive you… and I admit I was being a jerk,” you muttered the last part a little quieter.
His mouth opened and closed like a Magikarp’s.
“Uhm-”
You smiled. “Pay me back making you look oh-so-fabulous with some sandwich specialties at a nearby restaurant.”
Anddddd there it was. His cheerful aura returned within an instant, a smile painting his face.
“I’d love for you to later show me the sights of Paldea too!”
“Sounds like something a couple would do,” you murmured.
Immediately, you wish you took back your words.
“Oh? Well yes, perhaps you’d even like to call it a date!”
Volo allowed himself a smug grin, as a faint trace of blush spread onto your cheeks. He was quick to take your hand, even.
You pretended to be annoyed, and groaned on how much further both of you had to walk. But secretly?
You felt slight joy hit close to your heart. Maybe today wasn’t going to be as bad as you thought?

Oh 100% they are. Everyone from fans to wikis have had their little jabs. And just from Pokémon official Twitter and YouTube, they enjoy teasing fans with certain characters like that Larry tribute or tweeting a video dedicated to Turo for Father’s Day(though I guess it could’ve worse. They could’ve highlighted Ghetsis) so why wouldn’t they do so for characters that time and time again blew up their Twitter? Though strangely enough in the Hisui sweepstakes currently one of the ways to enter was to give your favorite Arceus character from the ones listed and Ingo wasn’t even on there(some think these will be the guys added to Masters but I’m not sure) despite how popular he is in favorite polls so who knows how long it be till we actually get more stuff on them in Masters
The little jabs always get me, augh. The list does look like possible future sync pairs, and even if it's not submas, I love the fact we're getting more PLA content! I've never been as invested in a pokemon game like I am with PLA since I played pkmn bw as a kid. Total win in my eyes.
I wonder who they'll add after Irida and Adaman, though. I've said it before, but I would love to get Volo. And there's Lian in the list too! Heck yeah, my fav boy who loves rocks!! If I don't get Irida in the end, please Pokemon masters, please gimme Lian.

Alright so I've been seeing a lot of discussion surrounding Volo and his Togepi on Twitter and I wanted to put my thoughts on the situation.
In the latest Pokemas event we see a part of the story where Volo's Togepi greets N and N hears her voice. N clearly tells us that Togepi states that Volo takes care of her. And it's mentioned earlier that it's clear Volo does love his Pokemon.
Yet people have noted that in the lodge the subject of "Love for Pokemon" is in his "interesting" topic category (as compared to say, "Excitement Building" or "Super Exciting"). Therefore it's led people to believe he actually hates his Pokemon and that he's actively manipulating them.
I don't think that's the case.
See one thing Pokemon has done well since Gen 1 is environmental storytelling, often done through the teams. You can learn a lot about a character's personality through the Pokemon they choose and the move-sets.
Volo is no different. Him having a Togepi (and later in PLA a Togekiss). This is important because Togepi as we know evolves via high friendship and GameFreak often gives Pokemon who evolve via Friendship to antagonistic characters when they want to show they're misguided over just flat out cruel.
And it's not just Togepi/Togekiss...by the boss fight with Volo we see him have a Lucario and Roserade...both Pokemon who have stages that require a friendship evolution. Togekiss and Lucario are also notable for being Pokemon that can sense feelings and they stick by Volo even when he's ready to remake the entire world.
This is GameFreak's signaling that Volo, despite him being a major backstabber, isn't 100% full of malice. That there's part of him that have good traits.
But then why, you may ask, is "Love For Pokemon" so low for him on the lodge topics?
Well it's likely because it's not a topic he's super passionate about. The lowest tier is "interesting"...and not "dislike/boring". Sure IRL, depending on tone "interesting" can be a polite way to say "I don't really care" but for Pokemas "interesting" topics just seem to be topics the character may either know only a little about or is intriguing but not something that would make them start talking a mile a minute.
Volo having "Love for Pokemon" as an interesting topic likely points to the idea that he doesn't make that a huge part of his daily thought process as say Leaf who has it as her "Super Exciting Topic" (and indeed a lot of her Pokemas characterizations surrounds this as she is super passionate about it).
Is it a noteworthy topic enough that's he's willing to talk about? Yes, but it's not something he's super passionate about compared to say myths and legendary Pokemon. It doesn't mean he's secretly manipulating his Pokemon and hates them. He has Pokemon that would be able to sense his true intentions if that was really the case.
He has trust issues for sure (his lines about using others before they use you sound like he's been betrayed)...but that seems to be aimed moreso at humans (and Arceus) than his own team.

A new Message from the Masters Team is out!
New Mysterious Stones Chapter (A Fateful Reunion) coming on May 1, 2024! You'll need to have collected a total of 600 Mysterious Stones to unlock this story's area. Volo and Rei finally meet face-to-face on Pasio. What will Rei do in response to Volo's intentions?
In addition, they've made improvements that will allow you to easily check successful teams when you are unable to win a battle, and also revamped each 5⭐-Guaranteed Sync Pair Scout found in the General tab of the Ticket Scout menu so that you can scout either x5 or x10. (It sounds to me like you would need to have collected 150 to 300 5⭐ Scout Tickets.)
Rika will star in Story Event Good Ol' Rika Here beginning on Apr26, and by teaming up with Rika & Clodsire from their Poké Fair Scout that will be available at the same time as the event, you'll be able to invite Rika as a Guest to the Trainer Lodge! You can also get a Clodsire photo frame for the Photo Creator by teaming up with them. Rika can be invited as a Guest to the Trainer Lodge starting May1.
Rika & Clodsire are a Ground-type Support Sync Pair. Their EX Role is Field. Their Rampant Mud Slap Buddy Move can lower all opponents' accuracy by two stat ranks and leave them poisoned. It can also create a Ground Zone and increase all allies' Physical Moves ↑ Next and Special Moves ↑ Next effects by two ranks each. They can also use their Think Fast! Trainer move to raise all allies' Attack and Sp. Atk by two stat ranks. Plus, they have a Passive Skill that restores all allies' HP when Rika & Clodsire get hit by an attack move, and another Passive Skill that lowers one of the following stats of an opponent that attacked them by two stat ranks at random when hit by an attack move: Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, or Speed.
Three different Triple Feature Poké Fair Scouts will begin on Apr27, featuring Sync Pairs such as Skyla (Anniversary 2022) & Tornadus, Palmer & Regigigas, and Gloria (Dojo Uniform) & Urshifu! For each lineup, there will be a regular Triple Feature Poké Fair Scout, as well as a paid-gems-only Triple Feature Poké Fair Scout that comes with a Roll Cake present. Each featured Fair-Exclusive Sync Pair will have an EX Role added, so we hope you look forward to it. (Note: Palmer & Regigigas already have an EX Role.) Also, looking forward to being able to boost Lysandre 👀
The sequel to the ongoing Costume Event New Heroes Are Born will start on Apr30. Two figures have appeared before our heroes as villains! (Cool how we're getting the PokeStar Studios alts as villains, but pretty predictable. Would have been cool to see some actual villains getting in on the fun, add that sense of urgency/seriousness, but was thinking it might be too much of an ask lol)
The next High Score Event "Water and Fairy Conqueror" will begin on May 7, 2024. This High Score Event will have two recommended types. Taking into account the difference in battle difficulty based on the available Sync Pairs of the recommended types for this High Score Event, the maximum number of points needed to obtain the featured reward will be changed from 180,000 to 200,000. They plan to make more adjustments to this point total based on the difficulty of future events as well.
Also scheduled are returns of Solo Event Pasio Gold Rush, Daily Battle The Golden Magikarp, and Story Event A Golden Future, as well as the addition of an Ultimate Battle and a new Trainer Files.
The next message is scheduled for late May.

Trapinch does also vibe check Emmet daily every morning because he figured out that his trainer needs to be monitored from time to time. (Emmet probably fails 90% of his vibe checks)
Bruh, if we take into consideration that Hoenn and Hisui are basically the Kyūshū and Hokkaidō of the Pokémon world, that means that Ingo and Emmet are literally placed on the opposite sides of the country God these poor guys.. Emmet really has to travel through all of that if he wants to see his brother again-

How he acts when he likes you:
No particular warnings. GN!reader.
❥ When it comes to you, Volo’s sense of personal space practically evaporates. He loves to touch you, whether that’s just tucking an arm around your shoulders to pull you against him in greeting, or “accidentally” grabbing your hand as he excitedly tugs you off to the ruins that he wants you to see.
❥ Tends to show up a lot more often wherever you are, and a lot more sneakily—hugs from behind, his arms curling around you to snugly press you against him (so you have no chance of running away). He always does it with a little sing-song of your name, in that sunny, lilting tone of his; it only slightly makes his hugs less of surprise, but it doesn’t make it any easier on your racing heart.
❥ If you’re startled or gasp in shock, you can bet that Volo will tease you (meanly) about it. He’ll squeeze you tightly and chuckle, a rumble from his chest that sends tingles through your entire body, and in turn, his own. Don’t (or do) bring that up to him, though, or he’ll whisper against your ear that he just can’t help it! You’re so huggable! While that’s true, he’s actually trying to resist nuzzling into your neck or dropping a kiss on your cheek.
❥ It also doesn’t help that he often uses his height and build to his advantage in keeping you locked in his embrace, just for a while longer. How unfair! And if you ever tell him so, he’ll just laugh again, with a mischievous glimmer in his eye that’s a warning in itself—something you really should heed, perhaps.
❥ More often than not, he arrives with a small gift for you, usually something to assist in your surveying or daily life. An interestingly shaped Berry he’d plucked off a tree; a handmade trinket meant to attract good luck; or an evolutionary stone, smoothed by shallow river waters. You keep all of them, and when you tell him one day, as you rummage through the storage in your quarters, you miss the way that he absolutely lights up.
❥ Volo also seems to hang on everything you say, more earnestly than you’d expect, even if you’re talking nonsense. Sometimes, you wonder if the tilt of his head and the curious glint in his eye indicate more than just enthusiastic interest in your words. They do. He even remembers all of what you’ve said, referencing supposedly trivial details you’d mentioned and making you feel as if he does care.
❥ Of course, however, liking you is complicated for him. He really shouldn’t have taken to you, not with what he’s been plotting for longer than you’d known him. Truly, Volo tries to convince himself that he’s awful to act the way he does around you. But you’ve continued to be… so unassuming and, well, normal around him that he can’t help staying near you for far more enjoyable reasons than those that are nefarious. Or so he tells himself.

Duomo di Taormina
Lascia stare quello che dicono i libri. Non ti serve leggere quando questo piccolo duomo è stato costruito per capire cosa è. Di sicuro, migliaia di anni fa, c’era già li un luogo dedicato a un Dio perché il Duomo è messo di fronte all’infinito, dove il cielo finisce, dove inizia il mare e dal mare nasce, ripido e fiero, il promontorio su cui il Duomo si trova. È un posto dove le anime sentono l’eternità e vorrebbero spiccare il volo per comprendere l’esistenza. Proprio qui, in questo luogo che ci pone di fronte alle domande di cui cerchiamo risposte si trova questa chiesa, proprio qui, di fronte al paradiso, sotto gli occhi di Dio. Non guardare i quadri esposti sopra i suoi altari come se fossero opere d’arte, anche se antichi e preziosi. Sono in realtà le orecchie di Dio, ascoltano le preghiere di chi non può non chiedere, ascoltano i dolori, le speranze, quei peccati nati dal bisogno di cose o da quel bisogno di amore che ci infetta con un male chiamato solitudine. Anche i preziosi marmi degli altari, non sono grandi per mostrare la magnificenza delle pietre siciliane. Sono solo inginocchiatoi, fatti per chi cercava pietà. Ora non vedi le vecchie vestite di nero, pregare i loro santi, perché ormai basta trovare conforto in sentimenti minori, in illusioni scientifiche o sciamaniche, dentro la continua distrazione di Reel e post, nel consumo continuo di cose ed emozioni. Ma questo era ed è il Duomo, la casa delle anime a cui manca la pace. Delle anime che non sanno trovare nessuna pace, spaventate, confuse dalle guerre piccole o grandi, vicine o lontane, dalle stragi straordinarie o dai quotidiani genocidi, anime che cercano motivi, spiegazioni, speranze o certezze per non sentirsi inutili, calpestaste, ignorate, dimenticate. Non guardare il Duomo come se fosse una pietra più o meno antica, un dipinto di secoli fa, una scultura che gli antichi romani hanno lasciato. Consideralo un giardino in cui le anime possano provare respiro, percepire il loro tempo, concepire e cercare l’armonia che hanno perduto, tornare pure, in questo piccolo altare posto di fronte al Paradiso, sotto gli occhi di Dio.
Forget what the books say. You don't need to read when this little dome was built to understand what it is. Certainly, thousands of years ago, there was already a place dedicated to a God because the Cathedral faces infinity, where the sky ends, where the sea begins and from the sea rises, steep and proud, the promontory on which the Cathedral is located. It is a place where souls feel eternity and would like to take flight to understand existence. Right here, in this place that confronts us with the questions to which we seek answers, lies this church, right here, in front of paradise, under the eyes of God. Do not look at the paintings displayed above its altars as if they were works of art, even if ancient and precious. They are in reality the ears of God, they listen to the prayers of those who cannot help but ask, they listen to the pains, the hopes, those sins born from the need of things or from that need of love that infects us with an evil called loneliness. Even the precious marbles of the altars are not so large to show the magnificence of the Sicilian stones. They are just kneelers, made for those seeking mercy. Now you don't see the old women dressed in black, praying to their saints, because now it's enough to find comfort in minor feelings, in scientific or shamanic illusions, in the continuous distraction of Reels and posts, in the continuous consumption of things and emotions. But this was and is the Cathedral, the home of souls who lack peace. Souls who cannot find any rest, frightened, confused by wars small or large, near or far, by extraordinary massacres or daily genocides, souls who seek reasons, explanations, hopes or certainties so they will not feel useless, trampled upon, ignored, forgotten . Don't look at the Duomo as if it were a more or less ancient stone, a painting from centuries ago, a sculpture that the ancient Romans left behind. Consider it a garden in which souls can experience breathing, perceive their time, conceive and seek the harmony they have lost, even return to this small altar placed in front of Paradise, under the eyes of God.

AU settings in Unova!
I decided that the pokemon owned here (unless they are from outside Unova or gifted/thrown away by their trainers sad i know) in AU are only pokemon in Unova's national pokedex (BW2)
no Danny can't go on Pokemon adventures officially yet because the protagonist Unova is technically the oldest of all the protagonists in all main timeline games (15-16 years old!) So Danny officially becomes a trainer when he's 15/16 years old :')
AU's main plot:
Very simple 11 12 with series but with pokemon! :]
Plot Hisui:
Let's just say Clockwork wanted Danny to take a vacation from his daily life as a super hero, so here Danny Hisui… Disguised as Danko joined the Galaxy Expedition Team, explored Hisui, researched Hisuian Zorua and Zoroark and met people and new pokemon!
Danny learned a lot about making pokeballs and other equipment. He was taught by Volo and Cyllene very often praised him & She also liked the performance as a member who was very active. He studied more closely about Zoroark & Zorua's abilities so that They could avoid conflicts between humans and Pokemon.
in a few moments Danny & Volo were nicknamed "crime boy" by people because sometimes they made lot trouble, on how many occasions Danny found that Volo & Cyllene had a fight and stupidly thought they were kissing, for Danny Volo was a 'big brother' figure because of his nature who is confident and smart sometimes reminds him of Jazz sometimes but Volo is more of an asshole than Jazz and Volo gave him the Zoroark Mask on week 3 at Hisui as a reward for his promotion in Galaxy Expedition Team.
When Danny was going back to his timeline, he said goodbye to everyone and… Should he leave the pokemon he caught here? Clockwork says that he can keep and bring them to his timeline! What a relief!
Danny comes back and he realizes he was only gone for 3 days… But he actually spent 3 months at hisui and realized he lost his Zoroark mask! Damn- he can't go back to Clockwork just to take that trivial thing… At the same time Volo who wants to return Danny's zoroark mask only finds snowy land with Danny's footprints.
Meeting Volo's (again):
Danny was exploring the ghost zone to make a map, he didn't invite Sam or Tucker because they were busy so well he was alone exploring the Ghost Zone until suddenly his ship's engine broke down and dropped him to the bottom of the Ghost Zone… When he realized Danny found himself in a place that had very different aura from Ghost zone… The place is full of mirrors and just then Danny is greeted by Giratina who seems quite impressed about Danny species, then Giratina and Danny actively talk a lot they have a lot in common! And Giratina took him somewhere and Danny saw someone familiar… Volo.
Danny & Volo were surprised to see each other… And at the end, after the preamble, Volo told him that he had wanted to destroy the world with Giratina but failed and he was cursed to spend his eternal cursed life, he angry with consuming hatred and obsession with Arcues to survive in the deepest part of the ghost zone… The distorted world, he only interacts with his Pokemon who are also eternally cursed and also Giratina… Sometimes Volo misses a lot of people from his past mass but he realizes he will never meet them again because they are most likely dead sometimes he laments the mask he made for Danny to relieve his boredom… Then he returns Danny's mask to Danny…
"I thought I would never return this to you Danko but I'm lucky to be able to return it to you! I will never forget my pather in crime hahahaha!"
In short: Volo Danny escapes from the world of distortion → Volo applies for a job at Fenton Work → Volo becomes the best employee and gets Maddie & Jack's sympathy → VOLO IS ADOPT BY THE FENTON!!!
I forgot to mention that Volo grew Fenton Works business very fast and became the best employee ever!
