'Because you're my friend, and I could never hate you for it.'

oh boy oh boy its another average gehtsis fic and its about @sincerely-sofie 's mortality exchange au!! twig is back in town and she and kip talk a bit after the 30+ years they've been apart!! woo!!!

Kip's daily schedule was simple yet depressing as it could get, as far as some people figured.

At around 4:50am, he would wake up to an empty bed besides his, reminding him of a friend that he could remember as clear as day - yet one that was no longer with him. It didn't sit well with him. Not then, and not now. But he still had to put food on the table, after all.

He'd stop by the Kecleon Brothers to buy some guild supplies, and get to work. Ever so occasionally bumming into folks from Treasure Town who were kind to ask him if he's alright, if he needs anything, all that sympathetic jibber jabber.

As much as Kip wasn't one to turn down help, there was just so little that the people surrounding him could do to bring back the one person he cared most about - Twig.

It all happened just far too fast, in his memory. One night, Twig simply left - leaving pretty much no traces behind. No notes, no possible hint to point out where she was, nada. Kip and everyone that he knew were completely stuck in the dark. He remembers how scared he was when going around town and finding out that no one knew where Twig went. No one in Wigglytuff's Guild, no one in Spinda's Cafe, not even the future trio knew. And the fact that none of them knew either terrified them, too.

Everyone searched far and wide, only to be met with bad news. Twig vanished. Almost as if the ground swallowed her whole, only leaving her memory in the minds of her grieving friends as a reminder.

Oh, how Kip hated himself for it all. It's just Team Skull said to him all those years ago.

Too spineless to stand up to his own good without her, and now he couldn't even save her with the spine he now had.

But he had to put the grievance aside, he had an escorting job to do. The last thing he needed was to make all the young explorers worried sick about him.

The workday was as average as it could've gotten - except something was off with the dungeon that was picked for the escort.

Ever so occasionally, someone on the team would experience tiredness, and it was a very frequent occurrence.

Some speculated that the dungeon was cursed, some suggested that it was just natural, while some jokingly said that maybe there's a spooky ghost that will put everyone to sleep to ensure that their dreams get feasted on.

With Kip being armed with Chesto Berries to ensure that no one falls asleep, the speculations died down, but he was just curious as to what could've been the cause for such a thing. It wasn't natural, much less it effecting multiple people in a fast rate. Nonetheless, they continued deeper, all the way to the final floor.

The team eventually made it to what they suspected was the cause of the sleep inducing stuff - a lone Charizard. Yet.. it didn't seem like the ones you'd encounter in normal dungeons.

Her body was pitch black, white flames bursting from the edges of her mouth and her tail tip, blue crystalline eyes and jagged red edges that formed around the neck area, almost forming a crown-like shape. She was scared. She was afraid, insisting that they should all leave immediately and right this second.

Kip took a step closer to ensure that none of them had any evil intentions, but one look at the eyes and he seemingly.. froze. She stared back at him, freezing just the way he did. He knew who she was, and she did as well.

It was Twig. She was alive, and she was here, in front of him.

The next morning, Kip woke up with a rather tedious headache. He assumed that maybe it had to something with staying up for so long last time to let Dusknoir and Celebi see Twig and see both of them get just as emotional as he did all the while scolding and ugly-crying at her for completely disappearing and wonder just where she went and whatnot.

No, that couldn't be it.. getting a headache from something like that just felt odd. He'll have to check that out later.

As he woke up in his usual early morning hour, he expected to see Twig sleeping in the other end and finally feeling that happiness that he felt all those years ago - only to find out that she already got up and was heading for the outsides of Sharpedo Bluff, and he decided to follow suit.

Looking up the entrance, he saw that Twig sat on the edge of the bluff, watching the sun rise. He chose to approach and sit down beside her, seeing as he took the day off after telling the guildmaster about everything that happened and had nowhere to rush to.

Upon sitting down, the two parties greeted each other with a casual but awkward "Morning", and silence filling the air between as they took the sights in.

It was awkward, and neither of them knew why it felt like it. Kip was about to shower Twig with questions about, well, EVERYTHING, and Twig felt like she had to answer everything he'd throw at her. She already saw how much those years had a toll on him, and she didn't allow him to be that way any longer.

Regardless, the silence had to be broken, other they both might just explode from just how dense the atmosphere felt.

"So, uhh.. you evolved. That's pretty cool! Do you like.. feel any different?" Kip shot the first topic, almost regretting it immediately. God, he thought she was dead for 30 years and that's what he had to say? If he could, he would've slapped himself if Twig was sitting right here besides him.

Twig, on the other hand, chuckled a bit at the question before giving him her answer.

"Not a whole bunch, honestly. The wings are fine and all, but I don't really see myself as a.. flier, or something like that."

"Huh."

And like that, the silence continued it's course. Twig could feel Kip's upcoming questions about who where and why, so she figured she may as well let him ask and receive.

"Kip, I can tell that something's on your mind. Don't be afraid to ask me, man.. it's the least I could do after just disappearing on you for so long."

Kip snapped out of his uncomfortable silence at her words, almost feeling hesitant now that she picked up on it so easily. Obviously, he felt the need to do it yesterday when the two came back, but overloading her with questions especially when Celebi and Dusknoir already did the same would've felt rather improper and just give Twig a harder time adjusting to.. well, everything. So, he felt the need to confirm with her before he started asking.

"And you're.. gonna be fine with what I'll have to say?"

"You're my friend, Kip. I'm not gonna bite you for just speaking, you know."

"W-well.. if you say so."

Taking a deep breath in and out, Kip asked the very first thing that was on his mind the moment he first reunited with Twig.

"How did you end up looking like.. this? I know that some charizards can look a bit similar to you when they mega evolve, but this is.. a whole new different thing to unpack.."

Twig took a sigh of her own at the question. Right. If her appearance was enough to get some of the younglings from back then to shiver at the sight of her, then it would only be obvious that Kip would be just as concerned. Nonetheless, he was waiting for answer. And she didn't like what she was about to say.

"It's a.. very long story. I can tell it to you, but I need to ask you something in return."

"Oh, sure. what is it?"

"Do you know what happened to Darkrai back at Dark Crater?"

The question alone was enough to get Kip to shiver a bit. While Darkrai was indeed gone forever, he never forgot how terrifying Darkrai was. Convincing the two of them that they were better off not existing at all, threatening to plunge the world into darkness, it was horrifying. Kip swallowed his fear and nodded up and down to show that he knows.

"Y-yeah. I remember you delivering the finishing blo on him and he just sorta.. faded away? Did he like, curse you to look like this before that happened?"

"Far from it. After we both collapsed after the fight, Cresselia telepathically spoke to me after bringing us back to Treasure Town. She congratulated me for defeating Darkrai, but she informed me that not only did I deliver the finishing blow, I.. killed him. He was gone."

Kip could feel his jaw drop at that revelation. For the longest time, it was rumored that Legends were either immortal, or that they could never be killed in combat by a mortal. Obviously, no one was foolish enough to try, but people still believed it regardless.

"Turns out that Legends can be killed, especially by mortals. But when that happens, the pokemon that killed the legend inherits their power, and essentially becoming an extension of them. That's how Cresselia said it, at least."

"So when you killed Darkrai back at Dark Crater, you essentially.. became him, body and mind and all?"

"I pretty much got his whole nightmare powers and all, not the whole.. evilness part, which is probably the only good thing to come out of that situation."

".. Huh. I.. had no idea."

".. It's also the reason I ran away from all of you. I didn't want to hurt anyone, be it you, Grovyle, Celebi, Dusknoir, or everyone else."

Kip went silent at that last comment. While he could understand that the whole nightmary stuff would be hard at first for Twig to master, he didn't thing that self-imposed exile would be her first solution to confront it. He knew that she couldn't ask for help to save her own life, but.. was he too untrustworthy enough for her to try and help her with it?

"Actually, I wanna ask you somethin'. If you don't mind, that is.."

".. What is it, Twig?"

"Why don't you hate me for all of this?"

Truthfully, Kip didn't have an answer to that. Up until now, he didn't even know that Twig was alive, much less that she chose to leave on purpose. And now that he knows, he can't bring himself to hate her either. Hell, even Celebi got angry with her for everything, and that was only for a few minutes before she started crying again.

".. I couldn't hate you for it."

"W-why not, dude?! I mean, I completely abandoned you without doing so much as leaving a goodbye note, and you're just.. fine with it?"

"Twig.. I don't wanna be mad at you. Sure, I wish you would've at least given us a sign that you were still alive, but.. knowing what you went through to immediately assume that leaving was the only option.. I would've probably acted the same way, too."

"... Really?"

"I mean, not like like you, but it's something I would've heavily considered."

"And even with that in mind.. I can't hate you for it, Twig. I don't want to, and I won't hate you. You're my friend, and.. I just don't want to lose you again. I'm just happy that you're here."

Twig was silent at his words. She looked to the side a bit, sniffing a bit while trying to wipe the tears from her eyes away. She spoke again, her voice sounding almost mournful as she held back tears while looking back at Kip.

"You're a good friend, dude. I.. I just don't know what to say."

"It's okay, it's okay. Do you wanna hug? I know you dislike physical touch, but- oomph!"

Twig reached out for Kip immediately as soon as he spread his arms wide for the hug, and she just whimpered as she held him close and tight, and he held her closer in a tight embrace, fighting back the tears the same way she did.

"... I missed you."

"Me too."

Day 220: Monday August 8, 2022 - “Toddler Bedtime Routine”

William started walking officially about 3 weeks ago. And suddenly, it has become totally and completely apparent that we have a toddler in the house. His new walking independence has come alongside novel skillsets that are full of self expression, curiosity, and exploration. Including but not limited to new high pitch squeals that explain his every little displeasure, the sweet way he walks to the book shelf his daddy and papa built him and thumbs through all the options to find a new (or old) book of interest and brings it to you and climbs up in your lap, excitedly flip the first page or maybe three as you read until he is off again on the hunt for a new book to bring back to you, or toy, or request for his water, or to open the fridge, or to pick him up or give him an apple, or banana, or whatever “ehhh” is at the end of his pointed finger. He galavants around the house, wielding extra pieces of the baby gate, pushing, pulling, and carrying his baby vacuum, moving things from one room to the next to the next, testing what he can climb over under and through, while jibber jabbering away his DaDa’s WaWa’s MaMa’s, and the funniest giggles that ever existed. We hear new words almost daily. And stop you in your tracks hilarity of him repeating “no no no” while shaking his head grinning a little-shit-grin. It is so much fun right now. There is no competing with his big doe eyes, the emerging dimples sunk in his thinned plump rosy cheeks, and the return of love he is now able to give when he wraps his short arms around your neck, and his pudgy hands pat the back of your shoulder as he pulls you tight. He’s the absolute most incredible little being that ever existed and he has our hearts and minds and energy wholly.

And with his new todderlism, the time has come to start shedding some of his infant routines. The biggest one being his sleep routine. It is with a heavy yet excited heart that I start to really feel the pressure of my impending return to my paid work. A change that will no doubt be a big mountain for us to all climb, together. And the prep is really starting now. Lots of things need to happen for this big boy to be ready to be without his mama/milkmaid/breast-pacifier/translator/cuddler/soother/playmate, for anywhere from 1-6 days at a time. If my heart cant hardly take the anticipation of the change, placing myself in his little shoes, his toddler brain not understanding the change, or if I will ever even return, will be terrifying for him no matter how much we try to prep. So for now, the hard work and focus is in the details of inching him into his own bed for sleep, trying to wean some of the breastfeeding, and diss-associate the exclusivity of “mom” attached to every key routine. We bought special new “milk” only sippy cups, and offer a blend of 2/3 organic cow’s with 1/3 oat milk at least a time or two through the day, warmed in our nearly never used bottle warmer that has sat on the counter for 14 months. His new bed set up is also now fully assembled and operable, a simple low to the floor toddler bed with a split in the railing that he can climb in and out of on his own, now covered in a cube-tent that we can zip up once containing him becomes needed during his sleep/self waking.

The plan was always to start the new bed/sleep transition when we returned from vacation in Bend, but William and I both had a nasty cough and cold virus that came home with us. So for the first week we were back in the great room on the remodel-situation floor mattress. Feeling a bit better today, and knowing that there will never be a “perfect time to start” this hard change, I was hell bent and determined to get him down for at least part of the night in his own bed. We went all through his new wind down play routine after dinner, read lots of books, looked at the green and blue stars circle on the ceiling, and finally said our goodnights, got into sleepy sack, and had echo play the thunderstorm sleep sounds. Although he had taken a little of the sippy cup milk, he was over tired (skipped his PM nap today), and just needed the easy go down, so I figured one step at a time, and happily nursed our tiny human into a nice milky dream, sitting on the floor next to his bed. And when I was sure he was deep asleep in his dreamy land, I slipped him onto his gray and white cloud sheets, arranged his familiar stuffed friends all around him, played him the seahorse, and ran my hand through is perfect hair, and told him I loved him more than life, and how proud I was of him for his big baby steps. Then I stepped back and snapped a picture. The funny thing about being a mom, and I couldn't say it enough, is the constant living in a duality of realities. One part of your heart is filled with so much pride, joy, and a overflow of love, while at the same exact time and in the same space, your heart sinks low, with heavy sorrow, like a small dying of life that happens in the fall, as you simultaneously realize your baby is growing up.

MSI 2023 to Feature Co-streaming for the First Time

Good news for lovers of League of Legends esports! Co-streaming will be accessible throughout the Mid-Season Invitational for the first time, giving spectators a distinctive, alternate viewing experience. More than 30 co-streamers representing a variety of regions and languages are set to participate virtually in MSI 2023. These pre-approved streamers and content creators will give fans the chance to hear from their favorite content creators alongside the main broadcast. Additional details about the selected co-streamers will be announced via LoL Esports channels. Qualified pro teams will also be permitted to co-stream virtually throughout the entire tournament. For all other content creators, the standard Content Creator Guidelines remain in effect. Anthony’s Stupid Daily Blog (340): Mon 20th Feb 2023

At work this morning one of the lasses almost pissed me off but I found a great way to deal with it. When were sowing we get a trolley filled with tubs containing the items we need to stow. The associates also put a line of trolleys up against the wall for us to use. However sometimes none of the tubs you have contain items that are the right size you need to stow so you have to get mine from the trolleys up against the wall. I went to check to see if there was a tub with some small items on the row of trolleys when I heard some lass who sounded Spanish yelling “Not nice!” and when I turned Aomori d she was already in the middle of some crazy jibber jabber. From what I could make out I gathered she was saying that I shouldn’t take tubs containing small items from the trolleys without taking an actual trolley to my station because they would leave other people with only big items. Now I happen to know that this isn’t correct and that if you take a tub from one of the trolleys up against the wall then that trolley is yours. However I could just sense that with my accent, her accent and the language barrier she wouldn’t understand if I told her this. So instead what I did rather ingeniously was pretend I couldn’t understand what she was saying. I kept tapping my right ear and saying “I’m a bit deaf in this ear” and she kept repeating the shite that she was saying but each time I would just shake my head and say “I’m really sorry I can’t understand what you’re saying”. Eventually she just threw up her hands in frustration and went back to work, probably thinking to herself “These fucking English. Can’t even understand simple English!”. I can’t believe I haven’t stumbled across this time saving technique until now. Not only will it save me from getting into long boring conversations with idiots but it will also annoy said idiots which is a major bonus.

I signed my contract extension which says my last day will be April 22nd even though as of this writing the calendar on my work app says that my last day is due to be the 29th of April. I haven’t got a fucking clue what’s going on but for the time being I’m treating the job as if it is ending at the end of April. I’ll take any overtime I’m offered (which probably won’t be much because the workload is drying up) I’m order to build up a nest egg incase I do end up being let go and once I get back from America I’ll start applying for new jobs.

TMNT 2003/2k3 Headcanon: Crying - (Leonardo)

Feel free to scroll past this first part if you’re not interested in my silly rambling and nonsense. I won’t mind. Promise. ;)

Okey-dokey then, with the global epidemic that is the Coronavirus well in action and most of the world stuck in lockdown (starting this Friday for us too), felt like getting the ‘ol creative juices flowing with a little headcanon-y thingy in preparation for -possibly- more fandom writings to keep myself busy during the house arrest (well... it kinda is!) and hopefully my mind off all the bad news. :(

Also, this is totally my first one on the blog! WOOT! Please bear in mind that I’m SUPER rusty! Haven’t written in ages so there are bound to be typos and all matter of general errors scattered throughout the post. Don’t pet them! They bite!

Anyhoo~ Despite attempting to create and share with the goal in mind to uplift spirits, I decided to start on a rather upsetting subject (PLEASE DON’T LEAVE! They end on happy notes ;) ) because, Imma just come and say it, I enjoy seeing my favourite characters shed tears (not for just any old reason -their personality plays a huge role in this- and CERTAINLY not for sadistic reasons, land sakes no! But... well, you’ll see~ ;) ) It makes me all gooey and fuzzy inside to see them display such raw emotion and I just wanna leap into the TV screen to hug and console them. I dunno why. Maybe I’m nuts like that. (Remembers Raph crying at the farm when Leo was badly injured and wishes she could just hug them all and take away the pain) Oh well, if you enjoy visualizing the same, then *High Fives*. :)

So yeah, if you read the title, you’ll know this is based on the 2003/2k3 series (my favs). Hope you all enjoy~ :D Grab tissues cause sad turts ahead! :’(

-- It’s no easy feat to make the leader in blue turn on the waterworks. Leo won’t cry for any old reason. It’s not because he has no emotions, far from it, but being the leader of a small ninja clan -who happen to be family as well- is no easy task in itself: he has a lot on his young shoulders and deals with many issues on a daily basis few his age ever have to.

-- It’s because of these reasons that Leo doesn’t cry often. One of the lesser likely to out of the four brothers. But when he does, it’s an emotionally distressing sight to behold.

-- Leo tends to cry whenever those closest to him -namely his brothers, his father/master and truest friends- are severely injured or are in a dire situation. Remember his angry/moody arc? The thought of losing any of them causes him great pain and distress, especially if he were the cause of any of it, and when that happens, he can’t stop the dampness that forms around his eyes and soaks into his mask.

-- He’s not fond of crying, especially in front of others, even though he fully comprehends its normalcy. He feels he needs to be everyone’s rock, their fortress of physical and emotional stability to turn to for strength when things get rough... So when the tears start to fall, he feels he can’t show them, can’t allow them to watch him crumble under the gripling weight of helplessness and anguish.

-- He frantically wipes at his eyes and desperately attempts not to sniffle, but it’s a hopeless battle, for his tears are already a steady stream.

-- He’ll try to hide when possible, usually retreating to his room to allow the worst of the emotions to spill over before returning to the others... Though he may be in there a while: when Leo lets his emotions go, it can be just as powerful as his red-banded brother’s rage.

-- He spares no time in making sure the coast is clear for the tears are already streaming by the time he reaches his futon, and there’s no stopping them now as he lets himself drop to his knees, only halfway onto the mattress. He purposefully leaves the room unlit, cloaking his form in the darkness.

-- He sniffs a few times as he shuffles up against the wall, sitting upright against it, bringing his legs up and hugging them loosely and droops his head against a single knee pad.

-- His voice desperately wishes to escape. To express its misery. But he won’t allow it to, often placing one hand over his face in a bid to quell the sadness and remain silent in the battle against his own inner turmoil. He refuses to let anyone see him in that state of utter sorrow and vulnerability.

-- He whimpers ever so slightly and coughs a few times as breathing becomes difficult. He knows this episode won’t be over any time soon. Fortunately, he keeps some tissues next to his bed for such rare occasions and tries not to blow too loudly. He thinks back to the last time he cried so hard... It’s been a while. It felt like a build up.

-- Time has been forgotten as he’s lost in deep thought. By the time he slips a hand across his eyes, only the material of his mask is still slightly damp. He clears his nostrils a couple of times before considering whether he was ready to return to his family. He’d of course straighten up his bedding beforehand, and would also require a trip to the bathroom to wash his face. A true ninja leaves no evidence.

-- Leo tries to put the horrifying images out of head before leaving his quarters. He doesn’t wish to be weighed down again and thus maybe cause his emotions to come out a second time. He knew someone would catch on that time. Instead, he holds his head up high, focusing on the there and now to carry him forward.

BONUS EXTRA~

-- Failure is also one of his greatest foes. Leo despises it, but not in the irrational sense; he fully comprehends that in order to grow, one has to lose in order to learn and thus, succeed in turn, and while it can frustrate him when he’s unsuccessful at mastering a martial arts technique for example, he understanders it’s part of the process and that no one’s perfect.

-- It’s when his slipups could spell casualties or death to his family and/or friends is when it weighs down on him like a boulder strapped to his shell.

-- A really big one.

-- And it hurts. So much so that it causes him to become despondent and often teary-eyed when no one’s looking.

-- Boi Bloo might also cry from especially sad movie scenes. He gets seriously into the story, and when the scene is just right -perfect music, perfect timing etc.- you may just catch Fearless with watery eyes.

-- He can’t help it. After all, he’s a leader, and very caring and kind-hearted individual, so movies showing children or anyone/anything defenceless getting hurt has him not only visibly upset, but also angry at the cause. He’s a softie like that.

-- He won’t have a meltdown, of course, but the tears are definitely there. Just don’t tease him too much; he’s easily embarrassed by it. ;)

BONUS EXTRA EXTRA FEMALE READER OR S/O EDITION~ (Can also use an OC/FC insert if you wish, up to you)

You had figured something was up by the time you’d finished greeting everyone in the Splinterson household except for the Turtle you’d long to see most and he hadn’t made his presence yet known.

The idea that he must’ve been practicing or meditating swiftly vanished when Mikey told you he’d been in his room in the dark for the past few hours. “The guy hardly ever naps, and even so, never this long.” He’d told you. “I dunno, (Y/N), we were about to check on ‘im when you arrived, but maybe you should be the one to. Think he’d really appreciate it.” And there was absolutely no argument from your side as you were already making your way up to the room.

You didn’t know what to expect as you neared the doorway. Could he possibly still just be sleeping? Meditating in the dark instead of his usual spot by the training area? Or... was he sick? The latter now had you concerned and you picked up your pace... Only to pause mid step when an unmistakable sound reached your ears: a sniffle.

Had it come from within his room? It was the only logical explanation as everyone else was downstairs. You were truly perturbed now as you stood outside the doorway and called out the ‘eldest’ Turtle’s name.

There was some shuffling to be heard but you were unable to tell for sure what he was doing -probably trying to neaten up his bed- “(Y/N)? Just a second, okay?” he responded in a rather awkward verging on frantic tone, and you were certain you heard another sniffle escape him.

That, along with the way he’d replied really didn’t help to put your mind at ease. “Leo, are you alright?” Nor was the pitch blackness in which he remained concealed in.

“Yeah, just... l-looking for something.” There was some more shuffling as if to prove his point, but you were having none of it.

“Then maybe this,” you began, turning around to flick the light switch, “will help?”

“No! Wait!” But it was a split second too late for as soon the brightness illuminated the entire room, you had caught the telltale signs of an emotional meltdown in progress plastered on his face before he quickly turned away and briskly wiped an arm across his face, attempting to hide the shame... or perhaps embarrassment?

“Leo...?” your heart and voice softened, “Hey, what’s wrong?” You automatically walked to him, closing the gap he was now trying to form.

“Nothing,” he lied, and acknowledged it was a fruitless attempt but still couldn’t stop himself. Autopilot panic mode was enabled now. “It’s nothing.”

Unfortunately for him, autopilot mother hen mode was activated for you as you reached with both hands to his carapace and shoulder, gently turning him to face you. “I can see that it’s something.” Your words were gentle, and you wanted nothing more than to take away his pain. “Look at me, Honey.” His body was turned but his head remained to the side. It was clear he didn’t want his obvious distress on display, even to you. “Please, Leo?” You tried again, and slowly but surely, his eyes met yours, and you felt your heart sink further.

The fabric of his mask was wet and eyes were still red with fresh tears that threatened to fall. He appeared so broken and helpless as he stared at you, and even though he uttered no words, you could practically hear him despairingly ask “Is this what you wanted? To see me at my lowest?” from his expression alone.

Never had you witnessed the leader of this band of mutant brothers cry. At times you had wondered if he ever did, and yet here he was; the incredible pillar of strength and dignity you had come to know and adore, in tears and so dejected that you couldn’t stop your own eyes from becoming damp the more you gazed at him. “Oh, Sweety...” You whispered as you felt your soul shatter. It was too much to bear. You slowly wrapped your arms around him, one around the midsection and the other over his shoulder, and buried your face into his leathery neck, offering every ounce of comfort you could muster.

It didn’t take him long at all to sink into the embrace and return the action. Beyond the point of concerning himself with showing the pain he felt -or the wetness now soaking into your shoulder when he placed his forehead against it- he sniffed and finally allowed the tears to fall once again as fresh waves of emotion surged throughout his body.

And this time, he couldn’t keep the whimpering to himself.

“Shh~ It’s okay, it’s okay,” you soothed, lightly patting and rubbing along the scutes of his shell as he weakly sobbed, finally letting go of all the sadness that gripped him.

You weren’t even aware of what was wrong, and you most likely wouldn’t find out til later once he calmed down, but right now, he just needed you to hold him. Hold him until the hurt was gone... And so you would.

AND THAT’S ALL SHE WROTE!

ALL THE FEELS!! I EMBARRASS!!

OMGosh, this turned into a monster! The mother of all HCs!! :O No seriously, this wasn’t meant to be this long! I was suppose to squish all four into one itty bitty little post, but then it just grew... and grew... and GREW! Personally, I blame the Reader Bonus but I’d be damned if I didn’t enjoy writing it! ;P You guys here on Tumblr got me slightly addicted to them and have wanted to attempt some myself so... Anyhoo~ I can’t really say if I’m entirely content with the whole thing, I dunno. I feel some parts are better than others (writing style-wise) but yeah, I really need to get back into the swing of things...

Speaking of which, I DO plan on adding my two cents on the other bois as well, but judging by how this one turned out, they’ll most likely all be this length, more or less, so each Turt will get his own post so I can really jot down those details with all the freedom in the world! That being said, I can’t say when they’ll be added but hopefully soon-ish. :) Raph's next on the list!

The rays of the Sun painted the whole sky orange, and everything in the forest gained an orange tint from them. The bark of trees looked as if they were made from bronze. The light painted the grass in a colour not too dissimilar from pumpkins and even the wind carried the feeling of a lazy afternoon. For once, there was peace on the whole island.

The marine and the three children were sitting around a softly crackling campfire, small sparks sprinkled from the edges. One of the kids reached into the fire from time to time to play with it, and drew his hand back without any harm. The others were all silently watching him, it seemed perfectly natural for them that he was able to do that.

At the moment, two of the three little rascals were trying to tell a story, while they waited for their meal to finish cooking on the fire.

"And then Luffy did this with his arm, and he reached out to the tree branch, and his hand stayed just like that!" Ace smiled widely and gave his brother a mocking grin. His face was full of tiny pimples, just as his brothers.

"It's not true, I managed to pull my arm back it was just very slow! My powers won't always do what I want them yet..." Luffy puffed up his cheeks, which expanded to twice the size a normal mans would.

"We could have used it as a rope!" Added his brother still grinning.

"What if you eat instead of jibber jabbering?" Garp sighed and took the great cuts of meat from above the fire and handed one to Ace and pushed another one into the mouth of the smaller one, who accepted this with a big grin and began to cheerfully munch.

The man glanced down beside him while he put the third slice of meat on a plate far enough away from Luffy. Leaning on his side, the third, blonde child snorted softly, hugging a tree bunch in his sleep.

Garp rolled his eyes but could not suppress the smile on his face.

"Sabo has tried to use it as one." Ace grinned and giggled a little, looking at their little brother who sniffed. Luffy gulped back his aforementioned sniffing and took the whole slice of meath into his mouth and started munching even more defiantly.

The marine gave a tired look to the young ones and shook his head. "You really are real brothers, you got the bickering figured out all right." He stroked the heads of the children one by one, who quieted down slightly.

Luffy sniffed back the big bubble of snot that developed on his nose and gulped. Ace mumbled slightly but his face was obviously blushed from embarrassment. Sabo just snorted in his dream and hugged the tree branch closer.

Garp smiled faintly, looking at the fire. He didn't even remember how long he'd been here.

The breeze rose and something changed in the forest.

He didn't even remember...

Suddenly Ace spoke with childlike seriousness in his voice.

"We have decided what we going to be."

Luffy immediately wanted to join the conversation and nodded enthusiastically.

"Really? Let me guess." The marine snorted and stared at the three kids. "You decided..." he silently looked down at his hands resting in his lap, he followed the line of his arm up to his shoulder. There was something missing from his black suit.

Something was off, he could clearly feel it. He glanced towards the three kid again. For once he decided not to follow up on his instincts.

"I suppose you want to be pirates." After one blink the three children was already standing before him, exchanging some nervous glances. Their nod wasn’t even half as confident as they intended. nodded but it was half of as confident as they intended.

"And you all want to be the Pirate King too."

The nod has become more determined.

Garp sighed into his hand, and rubbed his face. After a while he said something he'd always wanted, but never had the bravery to do so. He started by giving a small slap on the top of the head to each of them.

"Fine. Be whatever you want." Garp shook his head and snorted when he heard the children giggling.

"But do NOT make me save your life from the marines. I don't want to lose my job for three cheeky brats!"

He murmured softly and watching the broadly grinning kids tried and failed to suppress the pride welling up inside his heart.

However, the peaceful moment did not last long. He winced and looked around as the dancing leaves in the wind brought laughter with them and swayed the trees. It was a deep full laughter, a laughter that most of the world feared. He however heard it lot of times after various fights. He hated the fact that it was enough to hear the laughter to immediately recognize the pirate it belonged to.

He looked towards where the trees became thicker. There was a silhouette there. His face was covered by a shadow, but hearing the joyful edge of his words was enough to know that he was grinning.

"I knew I could trust you!" The notion of a grin became broader and more confident. "They're going to turn the world upside down, Garp!"

There was another breeze that run through the gray hair of Monkey D. Garp. Turning back, instead of the fire he found only half smoldering cinders.

He opened his eyes and had to blink a couple of time. The room was filled with the warmth of the afternoon sunshine and the soft squeak of one of the breezing windows. He could hear the muffled sounds of the island, noises, conversations. Everybody was doing their own daily routine.

He sighed deeply and sat up on the battered couch glancing at the scattered pages on the ground, then he looked toward his desk. The paperwork, he worked on it, but he got bored and decide to sit on the couch to think a little bit. It took him a few moments to realize that his office door wasn't closed and he was in fact, not alone.

Sengoku watched him silently, folding his arms in front of himself. When he spoke, there was no trace in his voice of the serious somber tone he often used with his subordinates. "What were you dreaming of?"

Garp shrugged a few moments later and stood up. He put on his vice-admiral cloak, however, it felt awfully heavy now. "Nothing I want to talk about."

I am a Thriver! I sleep like a rock waking up feeling so refreshed. That fogginess you feel when you first wake from a nights rest, is something only of the past now. Feeling groggy to the point it took me a good 20 minutes to get out of bed to get ready for work, is no more! Before I became a Thriver, I was always exhausted, sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. I never questioned what I was doing wrong, always thinking it was because I worked 3rd shift, staying up while everyone else slept…. Like that’s not natural right? I was always tired, exhausted, didn’t have the ambition to do the daily chores, and looked to coffee and energy drinks to keep me up when I wanted to just dive back under the covers. And let’s not lie…. A lot of us out here have that very same problem.

It wasn’t until about a month ago, a friend of mine came to me telling me about this product that she had discovered, and how she might try it. It was just jibber jabber amongst girls. The things that she was telling me, it all sounded all too good to be true. A miracle from the heavens. So of course there had to be a catch somewhere. There always is… It wasn’t until the end of that same week, she told me how she went ahead and started a trial with the Thrive Experience. It was remarkable to say the least…. Well, she ended up buying it, and actually handing off the rest to me! And boy, I will never forget my first day. After the first 3 steps (ALL IT IS IS THREE SIMPLE STEPS!), within the hour I felt remarkable. It was insane just how great I was feeling… could everything that we heard about this product be true…?

I gave it a good 24 hours before I said anything about it (I’m good for jinxing myself and those around me lol). When I woke up the next morning however, I couldn’t believe how I felt. There really is no explaining the feeling. All I can say is, I felt F@%KING fantastic. And everyday since! My 3rd shifts I work are a simple breeze now. When it used to be such a struggle to get through 8 hours, now time flies by!

Summer opened like a rose that year, sweet and dewy. Torbjorn Mawr’s crops grew in neat rows for acres and he was happy. His wife and thirteen children worked alongside him, pulling out the spiky weeds that took root among the cabbages, peas, and mint, and spreading manure around the juvenile plants. He bent down and picked up a handful of the soil, allowing it to run through his fingers — it was moist, dark, and rich with the minerals needed to grow healthy crops. He thanked Erastil, as he did daily, that even in the harsh unforgiving heights of the Five Kings Mountains, there was life and sustenance for those willing to work for it.

“Papa,” his eldest, Agaddar, said softly — voices carried across the vast plateaus and valleys, and things lurked in the peaks. He looked up from examining the soil and followed her gaze to the sight of a figure approaching. He squinted in the sun and grinned. His family followed him as he trotted to meet the visitor.

“Brother Otto!” Torbjorn said, grasping the man’s hand.

“Brother Torbjorn!” Otto returned both the greeting and the firm handshake.

Dwarves have never been fond of small talk and pleasantries, and soon both men were sitting in the Mawr farmhouse with tankards of golden beer and a large summer sausage. Torbjorn sawed a slice off the sausage with an antler-handled dagger and ate it, washing it down with a draught of his beer. “What brings you here, Otto?” His light tone belied the heaviness in his heart. The Erastilian clergy in the Five Kings Mountains were few and far apart, preferring small close-knit communities to the busy metropolises of the dwarven nation. It was certainly not for the joy of Torbjorn’s conversation that brought Otto walking all those miles to visit him in Hundelstone.

“We’ve drawn the lots for the diplomatic missions. You’re assigned to Nirmathas, Kraggodan.

Much like monarchs held embassies in their allies’ lands, so too did clergies send representatives on missions of diplomatic goodwill. Ever practical, Erastilian clerics took this opportunity to exchange seeds, techniques for animal husbandry, and useful new skills with other priests living in those faraway lands. Leaving one’s family and land for months at a time was a challenge, but the constant longing for home was tempered by the knowledge that they were helping those they left behind.

“Here are the seeds for a new, hardier strain of leek, and that purple fairyslipper that Sister Alwig loves. Sister Offred has also enclosed her latest treatises on cattle breeding,” Otto continued, pulling an oiled leather bag out of his rucksack and laying it on the table. “I trust your family can take care of your land in your absence?”

“My wife is more than capable. I thank you for the honor, Brother,” Torbjorn said, already feeling as though his heart was being wrenched from him.

The following day, Torbjorn kissed his wife and children farewell, slung his freshly-oiled longbow and quiver around his shoulders, and set out with a rucksack full of summer sausage, hard tack, a waterskin, and the leather sack he was to deliver to the Kraggodan in the Mindspin Mountains. With any luck, he would be back home before the harvest.

Despite his distaste for sprawling cities, Torbjorn was relieved to finally cross the narrow land-bridge known as Heaven’s Ladder and pass through the iron gates that guarded Kraggodan’s eastern entrance. The journey had gone smoothly — a cleric of Erastil is welcome in any village, and Torb earned his room and board along the way tending to the sick and wounded or laboring in fields — but his life felt empty without the smell of soil under his fingernails and the sound of his children’s laughter. Soon he would deliver his burden, exchange any news, and be on his way home, he mused as he washed the filth of travel from his body in the room provided to him as an ambassador of the Five Kings Mountains. Home. The word sounded holy.

Then the Ironfang Legion came. Refugees from the attacks trickled in with jumbled news — the horde was a thousand strong, or ten thousand, or a hundred times that. Depending who Torbjorn spoke with, the attack had come from hobgoblins astride huge direwolves, or an army of orcs, or some terrifying aberration with multiple jibbering teeth-ringed maws. No one could agree whether they had set torches to the villages or whether they had fielded sorcerers conjuring massive fireballs that consumed everything they touched.

Whatever the perpetrator, he saw the violence the Ironfang legion had wrought firsthand as he worked alongside the clerics of Kraggodan to heal the refugees that trickled south — men, women, and children with missing limbs, with skin seared red and shiny and painful, clutching what few possessions they could take with them, often holy texts and religious icons, but there was no faith behind their eyes. Torbjorn mourned for the people who had lost not only friends and loved ones to the invasion, but generations of sweat and work as they were driven off their land.

“We must do something! We cannot allow these monsters to devour Nirmathas,” he demanded of anyone that would listen. “Open the gates to all the people or Nirmathas, and send out the legions to face these beasts.” He was ignored. The threat of the Ironfang seemed a minor thing when it was so many miles away. Besides, how could the king order the army away and leave Kraggodan vulnerable to shadowy Nidal in the west and grasping Molthune in the east?

Fed up, Torbjorn left the city. Far away, to the east, he could see the jagged teeth of the Five Kings Mountains, and the knowledge that his family was there, awaiting him, was terrible. But he could not allow the Ironfang Legion to sow chaos and terror in peaceful Nirmathas. The Fangwood Forest stretched across the horizon to the north, black and broad as a storm cloud. From that direction, a long piercing howl carried through the cool twilight air. It was joined by a chorus of other howls, high and mournful. Calling on Erastil to protect his family, he turned away from the mountains of his home and began to walk towards the great dark forest and whatever he would find within.
