But a daemon!verse f1 au where touching each others daemons is seen as a taboo, even daemons touching each other is looked down upon, and the whole grid is shocked when pierre and Charles both make it to f1 and completely disregard those rules with each other. Like in 2019 during pierres redbull stint it's not unusual to see Charles daemon basically glued to pierres side etc.

okay, so my top-used five tags are POV Third Person, Angst, One-Shot, Not Beta Read, and Canon Compliant. I think they do explain my writing habits, because I really love getting into the implications of a story, and I am. bad. at waiting for betas sometimes, and not great at continuing a story for longer than a couple of thousand words.

honestly, i'll read a lot, so nothing immediately comes to mind?

33. If you write chaptered fics, what’s your ideal chapter length to write? Is it different from your ideal chapter length to read?

stares at the WIPs I have not updated for nearly SIX MONTHS pas de masque, The Show Must Go On, I am so sorry. honestly, I really never plan out my chaptered fics, as the evidence shows - but a chaptered fic I'm recently proud of and that I actually finished was about three chapters, and 24k, so I'd say THAT was my ideal chapter length to write. so much fun. at some point, i need to reread my own fic. And I can and will devour 100k-300k worth of epics, even if I haven't been as good as doing that recently as when I was younger. shoutout to you, @acaciapines, whose TOH daemonverse fics are something i am SO excited for. you're gonna kill it.

37. Promote one of your own “deep cut” fics (an underrated one, or one that never got as much traction as you think it deserves!). What do you like about it?

ohhhh okay, one of my favourite fics I ever wrote would be always be my favourite ghost, from Night in the Woods. It explored grieving Casey Hartley, and how at the end of it all, so much of his life was left unresolved. how he never even got a funeral. it tugged at my heartstrings, that part killed me. so i decided to write people holding one for him. i really loved getting to explore his relationships with those around him, even if he wasn't there. from bea barely knowing him but still being pissed that he'd been taken, from angus knowing that he deserved better, gregg losing his closest friend, and to mae knowing that she'd missed out on so much of his final years, and still missing him anyways. and to maybe, knowing that if she'd stayed, she could have fallen for him. (shoutout to @doyouhearthunder for inspiring that part, as I read all of his NITW fics and that definitely played a role there.) i think i explored grief well there - in a game that has such a bittersweet ending, there aren't many threads to resolve. but this was one i could resolve, and i don't have any regrets about how i handled it. in the end, casey hartley mattered to people, no matter what that cult thought. that wasn't something that could ever be taken away. and it never got much traction because i posted it in 2023, and the game came out in 2017. but i'm still glad i did. it turned out really well for a fic i wrote mostly on a red-eye flight at 1 am.

Haha so the thing about me and fanfic is....for a long time I didn't have an AO3 account, so I didn't have a way to save fics for many years. When I did finally get one, I'd forget to bookmark or keep track of fics I like, and I have the memory of a goldfish that keeps me from remembering some of my faves. So I'll just put in 10 that I do have bookmarked in no particular order😅 (so most of these are Captive Prince related).

As for my name...well...I first made it when I was getting a Twitch account. I wanted it to be metal and magic (as a reference to Undertale), but idk if it was to long or something, because Twitch would only let me type as far as metalandmagi, which I thought was fine too, so I just went with that.

Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy by Aurum_Auri (a great author I repeatedly revisit) is a fantastic Great Pretender fic, and it deserves more love since it's such a small fandom (sugar daddy Laurent/Makoto AU)

A Night On The Town by SteeleStingray is a fun, action oriented Captive Prince fic focusing on Nicaise (modern AU with secret agent Damen/Laurent)...pretty much anything by SteeleStingray is a fun time.

Give Me A Reason To Stay Here by danegen is an adorable modern AU Wei Wuxian/Lan Zhan fic for The Untamed/Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation series.

(D)umb (N)erd (A)ttraction by Iaintnosidekick is a modern Rey/Kylo Ren fic where they're two scientists who go from friends to lovers. This is where I out myself as a secret Reylo shipper and that I'm literally playing The Last Jedi in the background as I make this list 😆 There's also one where Rey and Ben are Pokemon Go fanatics that I loved, but I don't have it saved.

When The Sun Is On Again by thickenmyblood is a soul destroying Captive Prince fic that left us all in shambles.

And When You Laugh, My Heart Goes Wiggly (as a slime) by JayJEx is a Raven Cycle/Slime Rancher (Ronan/Adam) fic that I can't believe exists. It married one of my favorite series to one of my favorite games, and I just had to include it because it's also great!

Yellow Joy, Orange Fire, Red Desire by SteeleStingray is a Captive Prince fic that's just a good old fashioned horny joyride. I have no explanation. Again, pretty much all of SteeleStingray's Captive Prince fics are amazing so I could have put all of them on here.

I’m getting into the His Dark Materials book for basically the first time, and I’m wondering how you / the fandom in general feel nowadays about the term “gyptian.” It doesn’t feel great to me, because they’re obviously supposed to be (some daemonverse analogue to) Romani people and their name is basically a slur, but I’m not sure about how to talk about them. If they were just straight up actual Romani people, I’d call them so, but given that they’re not actually Romani, referring to them as such doesn’t seem any better.

I feel the same way you do for sure. I guess the way I would address this is to refer to them as the river people or the clans, since they are sometimes referred to that way in the books.

I could totally see pierre with a lemur, or perhaps an Arctic ermine who's a complete darling when the cameras are on but has been known to make off with reporters mics, recording devices and notebooks if they're talking to much shit. I reckon she likes to hitch rides on charles' daemons back if pierre and Charles are busy. Either way pierre totally spoils her, she never touches the ground and she has a fancy, very French name like meline or noemie

And Charles with a domestic cat is perfection, everyone expects his daemon to settle into something traditionally powerful like one of the large cats or maybe a black stallion because fuck it, he is ferrari's future golden boy after all but no. She's more confrontational than Charles is, and she's ended up hissing at more than one engineer when they fuck up charles' races. I reckon it would be one of those fluffy longer coated cats like a birman or a Turkish angora, utterly gorgeous

7. How many ideas for fics do you have right now?

Probably too many, TBH, though I literally don't let myself think of them too much - once I start I'll have to see the planning through, and I don't wanna leave any more unfinished projects in my docs. :') Specific ideas I have right now include: my TCE giftfic shadowboxverse sequel, Kris/Willow "weren't you that girl who said she was an alien at summer camp?" coffee shop meet cute, non-kayfabe compliant daemonverse AU, and some flavor of urban fantasy...thing (mixed with prince/bodyguard stuff? IDK).

8. What project(s) are you currently working on?

Two active WIPs right now: an outsider POV fic (vague, I know...sorry!) and the influencer/streamer AU. Both are extremely silly, mostly cause the third WIP (mixtape fic) ended up pretty serious/melancholic, whoops.

25. Have you ever upset yourself with your own writing?

And speaking of the mixtape fic, LOL. I actually almost scrapped the whole idea when I wrote A5 (that's the note to Can't Help Falling in Love), which was maybe the 3-4th one I wrote out of the 10, because I was worried what I wrote was too dark. Like, yeah, troubled childhood, but at what point is saying "well it's canon, he's talked about it on TV even" not personally enough to justify what the writing touches on (this is specifically a problem I have with prowres because of the reality/fiction blur). Glad I finished it in the end, though - and kept that part intact, cause I think that one is one of my faves.
