Yesterday, a neo-nazi killed 2 people and injured others in a gay bar in Bratislava. He published a manifesto blaming lgbtq+ community. women and Jews on his twitter account before the act. It was a terroristic hate crime. But none of the Eastern European media uses the term terrorist because he was a white male. Speak up against hateful rhetoric at all times, don’t stay silent.

Oh you know, just laying on my bed wondering how the news the Nashville shooter was trans and targeted a Christian school will escalate my already deteriorating safety.

This is from the comic “Meeva” from Astro Boy. Tenma is using Meeva to summon the past so he can have a copy of Astro Boy for himself that doesn’t already hate him like our Astro does. However, when summoning the past, Meeva doesn’t just bring Astro, but the entire lab as well-- including Tenma, who isn’t happy about seeing himself try to steal his robot son.

The real takeaway from this, though is that Tenma just, like... had a gun with him the day he brought Astro to life. Just casually carried it into work under his lab coat or whatever, no big deal. Like, this is not a man that should have access to a gun in the first place, but why did he bring it to work with him? Who is he expecting to shoot? 

Dude, this school shooting shit is getting the fuck out of hand. MSU (Michigan State University) had a shooter attack earlier tonight (2/13/23, ~8:00/8:30 est pm).

*Something* needs to be done. We *need* to figure out how to solve this fucking problem, and if that means tearing so much down just so we can rebuild the foundation, then so be it.

"I got flagged down. I guess there's a bunch of kids jumping around on the edge of the [inaudible] parking garage. Ellsworth and Fenton," Bomba told the dispatcher. He sounded calm. 

Fellow officers reached him in three to four minutes and found him suffering from a gunshot wound, acting Police Chief Marcus Jones said. 

Bomba's own gun was found at the scene. He was wearing his body camera, but it was not recording at the time.

Was there ever a news event in our lifetimes that the media fumbled more aggressively than Columbine. They genuinely got every single detail wrong

From reporting that they killed someone for saying she believed in God (a different girl who said she did survived) to not reporting that they sought out students of color while yelling racial slurs - on Hitler's birthday & a day after the anniversary of OKC and Waco - while promoting the idea that you have to watch out for loner bullied nerds. Even though later research shows that the shooters were, in fact, bullies themselves, who had a wide social circle, and they were, you know, Nazis motivated by racism and not the video game Doom (1993).

It's a generational fuck-up, the GOAT of bad reporting bc it's still with us. The narrative of persecution after "she said yes" is a huge reason the evangelical right is like how it is today (they made a biopic that uncritically repeated it just a couple years ago!) & they still push the idea that it's primarily victims who do that sort of thing and not aggressors & people still shared that stupid video of Marilyn Manson saying he'd "listen" until a couple years ago (though the shooters being abusive Nazi creeps would uh, not diminish Marilyn Manson's desire to befriend them, I feel)

I live in Colorado Springs, less than 30 min away from Club Q. COS obviously put the flags at half mast (why does America even have the top half, we never really use it). BUT! I'm 99% sure they've left the flags at half mast at least twice as long for Nashville than for our own community. Transphobia is every-fucking-where :/

In NZ we have VERY strong rules about gun ownership. In fact, if you haven't used guns for hunting (for an example) for years. You have to reapply for ownership by having a proper psychological analysis test first.

I am not being hyperbolic when I say every cop who sat around and made sure this happened to these kids for an hour deserves a public execution.
