Nyalarthotep but my own version?
Dudes got so many forms so I think it’d be fun to make my own 💃🏽✨
His human description is “a tall smiling man with handsome features” but I think he’d still have a hard time looking 1000% human so his eyes and teeth are still spooky 🤷🏽 this was my first attempt on his design (his hair and clothes change a lot to keep up with fashion trends)
He’d def be some media icon (totally not to attract new followers) I’m still working on his OG form tho..
Imma call him Nyo

I’m a fan of Lovecraftian Stories and I can expound upon that if anyone is interested but theirs been an ear worm of a song that’s been in my head for YEARS. Theirs a collection of Christmas parody songs relating to the Cuthulu Mythos and one in particular I sing to myself often at work (I find singing the song helps get it out of your head) it’s a parody of Away in a Manger called “Away in a madhouse” bare in mind I’m a Contract Janitor so imagine this song being sung by a janitor while you’re the only other person in the bathroom
Away in a Madhouse
Confined to my bed
Where vision and nightmares both fill me with dread
The Doctor has sweetly inserted a probe
To sever completely
My prefrontal lobe
Electro shock therapy
Mind numbing pills
They cure me of visions
And and all of my ails
I love the asylum
My own padded cell
I’ll stay here forever
For outside it’s hell

On a similar note to Lovecraft's original stories about horrific, unknowable things being turned into The Cuthulu Mythos, a setting with Rules and Lore, it's really interesting that William Jacobs' The Monkey's Paw goes from being a dark parable about messing with fate, perhaps even warning against trampling in god's domain to like.
Oh well y'know, be careful what you wish for.

They even have the same message as most cuthulu mythos stories have at the end, goes to show how much respect the writers still have for the genre of cosmic horror

So, a poll. Results may, or may not matter.
One of my friends has lovingly coerced me into the first step of a project I’ve been wanting/meaning to do for about five years now. The only question is genre. Options are:
Campy Modern Romance (mostly queer)
Serious Semi-Historical Romance (half queer half not)
Cuthulu-mythos related magic/romance (all queer, it’s the Widdershins series and I recommend it highly)
Science-Fiction of the bad-ass character kind.
Sci-Fi of the Alternate History kind.
Fantasy with political intrigue and meddling gods.
Fantasy in the Wild West (also a queer romance).
Dis-Organized Crime Found Family goodness. (*also* very queer)

I wonder it would be like to play as a Cuthulu Humanoid like Mind Flayer in D&D or Brainsucker in Bloodborne.
Same as the last anon, I have never played DnD and I am not even into the C’thulu Mythos. WTF?

Black Friday is an amazing musical that deals with some pretty damn heavy topics, interesting characters, amazing songs and dances, plus it loosely uses the Cuthulu mythos (and I’m a sucker for that sort of thing)
So why is it that the most memorable part of the musical for me is literally ‘toys and trucks and big fat butts’
God Dammit

H.P Lovecraft’s stuff is weirdly horrible and vast. But fun if you’re into a darker side of Mythos and cosmic entities. The two best places to start I would say is “Shadow Over Insmouth” and “The Dunwich Horror”. What’s cool is while there are descriptions of creatures, most of it is left up to you to envision and most have mind manipulation in some fashion. (Intentional or not) StarSpawn= mini Cuthulus. Humanoid creatures with octopus heads, dragon wings and aquatic bodies. Sometimes tails.
Ooh! Cool! Thank you :)
