imagine superrr protective Jing yuan father who doesn't let anyone touch his dear daughter
idk if you want platonic or romantic (young love ah.) so I tried to incorporate them in đđ (did I do a good job?
Jing yuan is superrr overprotective over you, you might think he gets too paranoid sometimes but yk he just wants to know you are safe from the mara-struck n bad people!
your hair is being taken care of by Jing yuan and he tries many different hairstyles on you plus he's really professional at it! I mean look at Jing yuan's fluffy hair!
you do the same thing to Jing yuan's fluffy hair too! he still looks as handsome with his hair all over the place. Jing yuan always said when you were a toddler you would sit on his shoulders and grab at his hair like a cowboy on a horse
when you and yanqing first met, he was slightly shorter than you. you made quite a few funny statements about it. now he's the same height as you! he might even tip toe just to appear taller than you hehe
yanqing was superr nervouse when he started to do sword practice with Jing yuan but you reassured him that your father isn't called the dozing general for nothing! he knows a lot about the sword and can fix your technique!
you would accompany yanqing in his sword shopping journeys sometimes. but most times you were busy doing some little quests Jing yuan gives you to learn abt some stuff
though most times all three of you might have little tea parties after sword practice

And usually thatâs fine, that works for her. Her crushes give her a reason to go to school, to get stuff done, to put extra effort into her appearance. But she tends to admire from a distance. She knows how much she talks, and how hard it is to stop talking too.
Thatâs why she usually just sticks to looking at you from a distance, cheek leaning against the palm of her hand as she daydreams about the dates you could go on. In the timeline where she musters up the courage to talk to you.
But it seems that the universe has other plans. The universe being your English teacher, and the plans being a duo project about a country of your choosing.
You couldnât choose your groups, which you didnât mind, you could work with just about anyone. Youâre smart, you could probably do this whole thing by yourself.
But to Robin, this was a huge deal. Sheâd never even talked to you before, besides the one time she had to apologise for bumping into you in the hallway. She still dreams about that interaction.
And now sheâs gone for embarrassingly daydreaming about you to sitting in your room, surrounded by books about Italy, writing down interesting facts and discussing the order of the presentation.
But her mind is only halfway there. Itâs hard to focus on wine, Rome, and pasta when youâre sitting right in front of her like this. The sunlight coming through the window is hitting your skin just right, she can smell your perfume, and your PJ shorts are the cutest sheâs ever seen.
âSo, do you have anything to add, or can I start writing out my part of the presentation already?â
âYou look so cute.â The words leave her lips before they can even register in her own brain. Itâs like her body has decided it needs to tell you how adorable you look, without her mind being able to pull the brakes at all.
You look up, quirking an eyebrow, clearly confused by what youâve heard. âSorry, what did you just say?â
âAh! I, uhââ She sits up straighter, her eyes averting to the papers scattered in front of her, cheeks tinging pink from embarrassment. Sheâs not great at coming up with excuses, but she doesnât exactly have a choice right now.
âI said you uh⊠You look like a boot.â
Shit.
She could have slapped herself right then and there.
'Seriously, Buckley? A boot? Thatâs the best thing you could come up with? Not fruit, or something else nice?'
âOh,â You look up, scratching the back of your neck for a moment. âWell, like a nice boot?â
âWhat qualifies as a nice boot?â
âI donât know,â you smile, leaning backwards onto your hands. âI like cowboy boots. And gogo boots are cute too.â
âHuh. I see.â She tries not to make it seem like a big deal, but she enjoys learning small things like this about you.
A few moments pass, and sheâs already got her nose shoved back into a book while you try to write down a good introduction.
âDid you actually have something to add though?â You ask, looking up from your paper.
âTo the presentation?â
âYeah.â
âOh, I donât know.â She puts the book down, thinking it over for a moment. âMaybe that the word America comes from the Italian language?â
"Huh, seriously? That's really cool." You smile, and it makes the blood rush straight to her cheeks again. You're already noting it down under the 'fun facts' section of the presentation, your pen scribbling away as Robin tries to compose herself.
"Yeah, uh, Vespucci came up with it. Italian explorer." She fiddles with the bit of frayed fabric at the hem of her shirt to keep her hands busy.
"You're really smart, aren't you?" You flash her another smile, and she thinks it actually might kill her this time. There's no way someone could look this pretty.
"Oh, uhm... I-- I guess." She chuckles bashfully. "You're pretty smart too, though. You always know the answers to like, every question in class. Even though you never raise your hand."
You grin, knowing damn well that's out of pure laziness and not shyness at all. "Yeah, I guess so. 'M glad I got stuck with you on this assignment though. You're full of interesting facts, Buckley."
She smiles, averting her eyes in hopes of not looking like the complete lovestruck fool she is. "Yeah, well, maybe I'll teach you some Italian here and there too."
"Wait-- you speak Italian?" You sit up straight, eyes practically sparkling after finding out this new juicy bit of information.
"Well, only halfway so, but I like learning languages. Keeps the brain juicy, you know?"
You chuckle at that, leaning your elbows onto your knees and letting your cheeks rest on your palms. "You're somethin' else, you know that Buckley?"
"You're one to talk."
"Well, you did say I looked like a boot. I guess that counts as 'something else'."
The both of you start laughing, and suddenly she doesn't feel so bad about her slipup from earlier anymore. Or this project. Bless the universe for putting her in your room that day.

enha tacoma pcdâŠâŠ..
MANNNNNNN what an eventful week itâs been! I had LOADS of fun at the enha concert and made tons of new friends. My outfit was inspired by 231117 heeseung. the iconic denim cowboy fit constantly lives in my mind rent free and I think about it once a day. I had a pink bikini top on underneath and a pretty butterfly necklace cuz I wanted to add a pink nâ girly twist to it đ„° unfortunately I had to keep it buttoned up most of the time because it was FUCKING COOOOLLLLDDDD my godâŠ.
alsoâŠâŠ... I met this REEEAALLLLYYY GORGEOUS butch girl in line. I felt so blessed that day. gosh. I even got her discord yall!!!!!đđ
đŒ she was so cute and her outfit was inspired by bite me đ€€ tried soooooo hard not to drool when i looked at her đ„” good lawd what a WOMAN! luckily Iâll be meeting her again for txt in a couple weeks!!!đ
I had two posters - one that said âi đ heeriah leereyâ and the second that said âwelcome back jayâ. they were both made with glow in the dark glue. unfortunately I ruined my jay one cuz I realized it wasnât fully dried đ WELP! did I still hold it up tho? u bet I did.
speaking of posters, I saw some pretty amazing ones. I laughed my ass off at whomever held up the âdaddyâs homeâ poster. heck, I even saw one that said âlove from india!!!â whichâŠ.a round of applause to whomever that wasđ€đŒ
I also got to watch them throw first pitch at the mariners game and AAAAAAAA OMGGGG theyâre literally the cutest!!! đ„ș I swear omg I gasped audibly when seeing their beauty so close. absolute devastation. to experience auburn haired heeseung in person is an honor and a privilege. theyâre genuinely so ethereal irl. like wowâŠTHEYRE REAL!?!?????ïżŒ and seeing jay so happy to be back home made me emotional đą he looked elated to finally be back home! he spoke of his love for the seattle cherries, his memories in the tacoma area, and the sentimentality he felt as he finally made his way back home. đ„ș
I felt so much softness and love in my heart. the vibes were immaculate this week. it honestly feltâŠ.rejuvenating. THATâS the impact their presence has on me. it felt like one big hug. kinda sad that itâs over but i know theyâll be back in the futureâŠâŠ so thatâs that! đ„čđ

So sorry for the long delay I struggled writing this chapter⊠but without any further ado hereâs part 5! This chapter is setting us up for the end of this quick little series so I hope you enjoy đ

When Sam stirred slowly and awoke from his sleep his alarm hadnât gone off, but the sun still remained hidden beyond the horizon. There was only the faint shift of black skies to a glowing blue hue to signify the early morning hour.
Sam craned his neck off the pillow where his cheek rested, having managed to unconsciously move onto his stomach with one arm dangling off the edge of the bed at some point during the night despite the position heâd fallen asleep in- curled up next to Dannyâs side.
With a stiff turn of his head he was met with the sight of Danny still fast asleep next to him. He on the other hand hadnât moved much in his sleep last night. Only having turned onto his side rather than his back and was now facing Sam with only a few inches left between their bodies.
It wasnât often Sam ever woke up before his alarms went off, but two days in a row now heâd awoken peacefully to the sight of this beautiful person in his bed. Even better than yesterday, today they hadnât overslept, and although Sam didnât know exactly how much time they had to spare before it was time to get up and get ready for the day, at least they werenât in a frantic hurry.
With that comforting thought in mind Sam took the opportunity to quietly observe his companion sleep. Quietly at least until little happy giggles started to spring up from his chest, coming out in breathy huffs through his nose as he tried to stifle his elation.
âWhatâs so funny?â Danny rasped with his eyes still closed- though he had felt Sam shift in the bed moments earlier and was already fading out of sleep and back into reality. Or maybe this was still a dream? The lines blurred again when Sam twisted onto his side and leaned over to place a soft kiss against his lips.
âNothing, youâre just cute when youâre asleepâ Sam replied, inching closer and mirroring his body next to Dannyâs with one hand tucked underneath his head.
Dannyâs eyes fluttered open when Sam pulled away, and he was taken aback not by Samâs proximity to his face, but with the beauty in the way the hazy blue glow filtering through the window above them gently illuminated Samâs features. He was like some ethereal being staring back at him with wide curious eyes.
âCute?â Danny huffed out, thinking he must look a mess with his hair in frizzy knots and dark circles surly still ringing his eyes. Nothing compared to the radiance Sam emit even after only getting the same few hours of sleep as Danny had.
Sam smiled and slid his free hand up Dannyâs arm from underneath the covers, reveling in the warmth of the skin to skin contact. âYeah,â he replied through a long sigh as Dannyâs hand in turn came up to touch him as well. Only his fingers glided along the sloping decline of Samâs side, down his chest until his palm flattened and settled just below his waist. His thumb mindlessly started to trace circles into the dip of Samâs hip which tickled in the most pleasing way.
Sam continued, âyour face twitches a little, and I think you were drooling some tooâ.
âThatâs not cuteâ Danny groaned, hoping Sam was only messing with him, though he did maybe feel a little wet spot on his pillow. He squeezed Samâs side and Sam let out another sigh at the stiffness of his hip joints. âSomeone a little sore?â
âJust a littleâ Sam admit, âitâs a good sore though. Like after a run when your adrenaline starts to die down and your legs donât feel like jelly anymore so youâre just left with the acheâ.
âWell here, roll back overâ. Danny requested as he moved to sit up, never letting his hands leave Samâs waist as he guided him back onto his belly. The cold hit Sam first when Danny pulled back the covers, but he was soon enveloped in warmth again when Danny straddled his upper thighs and his large strong hands quickly got to work rubbing his back.
âFeels goodâ Sam mumbled into the pillow as he turned his face into the stuffing filled fabric so that Dannyâs hands could work his shoulders too.
âMmm, youâre so tightâ Danny murmured as he continued to dig his thumbs into a particularly rough knot right in Samâs shoulder blade.
Sam groaned underneath him, eyes squeezed shut and biting through the pain knowing it would give way to relaxation soon. And it did, Danny was able to work out the muscle and move his hands downwards to work on massaging his hips next.
He was only trying to help Sam. Even with them both still naked from the night before he had no other intention, no ulterior motive, other than to innocently massage his back and relieve some of the tension.
The reaction from Sam's body said otherwise though. With the combination of the pain of his tender joints and the way Danny unintentionally spoke about how tight he was, another uncomfortable tension was beginning to grow. Samâs member was trapped against the sheets with the weight of Danny still sitting on him, but he could feel it growing larger with each pass of Dannyâs rough hands over his skin.
He groaned again, and pushed his hips into the mattress trying to get some sort of friction and relief hoping maybe Danny wouldnât notice what he was doing.
âAre you relaxed now?â Danny questioned in a low hushed tone, leaning over slightly so that Sam could still hear him as he grabbed fistfuls of Samâs sides and kneaded the flesh in his palms.
For fear of what incoherent noise might escape him if he opened his mouth, instead of a verbal response Sam merely nodded his head against the pillow, Dannyâs grip on him only helping push his groin further downwards.
âI bet you are, I can feel you fucking into the sheetsâ Danny smirked making Samâs face flush hot, though he didnât stop his movements he just gave up in trying to hide it. âYou need to release some more? You want me to help you?â.
Sam could hardly tell what was happening behind him, but whatever Danny was offering he was waiting for as he weakly pleaded âyes, pleaseâ.
âSuch a good boy, learning his mannersâ Danny praised before shifting his weight onto his knees and rolling his hips over Samâs ass, effectively pushing him into the mattress again.
A moan fell from Samâs mouth this time as he arched his back and waited for Danny to move again. Never in his wildest dreams did he see himself as an adult getting off by essentially humping the bed, but with Dannyâs help even despite his tenderness he felt like he was getting close already. Perhaps it was the fact that he was so worn out and exhausted that his impending orgasm came quickly, like his body knew he wouldnât be able to withstand much of Danny on top of him like this.
Dannyâs hands traveled back up the slender curve of Samâs back and settled on his shoulders, each hand hooking around so that his fingertips were brushing collarbone and his thumbs stretched out to apply pressure again to where the back of his neck met the top of his spine. âJust keep relaxing, let it all looseâ he urged, letting his hips roll over again.
Sam felt Danny also starting to get hard as his pelvis pressed further against the round of his ass, though Danny didnât make any movement to help himself nor did it feel like he intended to go any further than grinding against Sam.
Just like the knot in his shoulder Danny worked out, Sam felt his body tense up again and his stomach coil until finally the release came and a warmth flooded his lower half as he spilled out onto the sheets beneath him.
As his body shuddered through his orgasm Sam was suddenly filled with embarrassment and he turned his face into the pillow to hide once more as a wave of emotion washed over him so strong he felt his eyes prickling. He had no idea what had come over him in the moments leading up to this, all he knew was it all felt too good. The way Danny touched him made him feel cherished in a way he never had before.
Without a word Danny leaned over and began to place kisses all across Samâs shoulders and back as if to apologize for constantly hurting him. He was careful to never cause Sam any real pain, but even when Sam egged him on he was afraid of taking it a step too far.
âI can not believe that just happenedâ Sam groaned, his voice muffled by the pillow but still comprehensible.
Dannyâs pulse dropped and his hands started to feel like hot brands against Samâs delicate skin. Was this it? Had he taken it too far? âIâm so sorry, are you okay?â He quickly slid off, giving Sam the room to sit up and turn onto his side to face him.
âYeah, yeah everythingâs fineâŠâ Sam trailed off. He thought he sounded convincing, but he was given away by a single stray tear slipping out of the corner of his eye. Quickly he wiped his cheek with the back of his hand, praying Danny hadnât seen it.
Danny had though, and in that moment he felt his worst fear was coming alive right before his eyes. How was Sam ever going to trust him after this? âOh god, did I hurt you?â
âWhat?â Sam stared back at Danny, his humiliation only growing as he tried to pull himself together.
Despite being more similar in height than his brothers, Sam felt small next to Danny right now. He could tell from day one that there was some chemistry between them, and over the past couple of days theyâd only confirmed that in bed. Though it was only just now that Sam was realizing just how enamored he truly was with Danny. That even a simple back massage would result in him losing himself like that. âIâm just really fucking embarrassedâ.
Confused at first, Danny glanced down at the quickly drying stain on the sheet and realized where this atypical self consciousness was coming from. Before he could stop himself a nervous chuckle escaped; he wasnât laughing at Sam he was just enormously relieved. He hadnât hurt Sam, quite the opposite actually. âYou donât have to ever be ashamed of yourself around me Sammyâ.
âIâm not ashamed,â Sam replied- there was no shame in being with Danny that much he was absolutely confident in. The truth was Sam felt like a completely different person when he was with him. Heâd enjoyed the company of others in the past, but never had he entirely given himself over like this.
âGood, you had me scared there for a secondâ Danny reached over and cupped Samâs cheek, brushing the pad of his thumb against the spot where Sam had brushed away his tiny tear.
âYouâve never hurt me Daniel, youâre too good for that. I think youâre the most gentle person Iâve ever metâ.
âI guess I was worried for nothing then?â Danny smiled, though he was still not completely convinced.
Sam sat up completely now and wrapped his arms around Dannyâs shoulders. âI wish you didnât have to go, otherwise Iâd say letâs tell Jake weâre both sick and spend the whole day really learning each others limits. I bet my tolerance is higher than you think it isâ.
Danny swallowed hard at the thoughts crossing his mind at Samâs implication. As tempting as it all was he didnât want to get in trouble with his brothers. âIâll be back sometime tomorrow. I think you should take the night off to recover a bit before we pull an all day in bedâ he suggested while returning the hug, âmaybe think of a safe word while Iâm gone? For my own sanity as well as yoursâ.
âI can do thatâ Sam agreed, âand when I do I want you to absolutely wreck meâ.
While Sam showered again Danny helped strip his bed of the dirty sheets and placed them in the small washer- which he had to go searching for but ultimately found tucked away in a cut out in the wall at the back of the kitchen. Part of him still felt like he was intruding on Samâs space wandering around becoming familiarized with the small house, but then he remembered the conversation they just had and a big stupid grin spread across his face. He waited for Sam to finish getting dressed before preparing to say his goodbyes.
âDonât let Jake be an asshole to anyoneâ Sam warned him as they stood uncomfortably in the living room by the front door, neither wanting to be the one to part first.
âIâm not sure I could do much to stop that, but Iâll keep an eye on himâ Danny shrugged his shoulders and rubbed the back of his neck, feeling a few more knots at the nape heâd missed with the comb. He felt like it was time for a haircut soon, maybe when he got back heâd ask Sam where was a good place in town and they could go together. Even despite all the time they spent together he still wanted to do everything with Sam. Even the little mundane things like getting a haircut before the spring finally came.
Just when Danny was about to bite the bullet and turn to leave, Sam suddenly threw himself at him. His thin lanky arms slipped underneath Dannyâs biceps and he pressed his left ear against Dannyâs chest as he hugged him. As soon as Danny realized what was happening his arms came up to encircle Samâs shoulders and squeeze him closer as he placed a kiss to the top of his head. âJust one night Sammyâ Danny reminded him, though he didnât move a muscle to let him go yet.
The sound of Dannyâs voice vibrated through his chest directly into Samâs ear. âI know, Iâll be fine. This is for youâ he replied making Danny chuckle. âAnd this is for meâ he waited until Dannyâs chest stilled again then he lifted his head and pressed their lips together. It was a soft kiss at first, but Danny shifted to take Samâs chin between his thumb and forefinger, tilting his head higher and deepening the kiss when Samâs lips parted slightly.
Their moment was interrupted by a rapid knock at the door behind them. They pulled away from each other quickly out of shock, but after seeing each other's disheveled state they easily laughed it off. âGuess Jake is looking for meâ Danny said as he grabbed the small backpack heâd packed the evening before after stopping by the old worn out camper to grab a few things, like his own toothbrush, before heading back with Sam and well⊠you know.
âBetter not keep him waitingâ Sam replied, stuffing his hands into the front pockets of his light wash wrangler jeans that Danny loved so much because of the way they shaped his ass. âIâll see you tomorrow?â Samâs expression looked defeated, but he pulled on another smile to not make Danny leave with a pathetic pout being the last thing he saw on his face.
âYeah, donât know when but I guarantee youâll be my first stop when weâre backâ. Samâs smile turned genuine and a light blush colored his cheeks as Danny leaned over to give him one last kiss right underneath his eye so that he had to squint and scrunch his nose. With that he turned to open the door, Jakeâs surprised look when he stepped out of Samâs front door with a blush of his own not passing him by as he silently tossed his bag into the passengers side of Jakeâs truck.
Jake didnât say a word either when he reclaimed the front seat and they started off down the road, Danny watching though his sideview mirror as Samâs house disappeared behind them in a cloud of dust.
Jakeâs truck was a lot nicer than the work truck Danny was used to driving around in with his brother. It wasnât new by all means, and there was nothing particularly fancy about it, but it was just a lot cleaner and sleeker than that other hunk of metal Sam was constantly cursing at when he had to do maintenance on it.
Danny faught off a smile thinking about the afternoon heâd spent offering his help while Sam shouted profanity after profanity and threw tools around with his head buried underneath the rusted hood. It was one of the warmest days theyâd had since Danny moved, and at the time heâd tried desperately to not gawk at Sam as he walked around the ranch in a short sleeve button up with the sleeves rolled up even shorter and the only buttons actually done being the bottom two to keep the shirt from falling off completely.
Itâs a good thing they had actually gotten together since then, because Danny knew there was no way he wouldâve survived the summer with a sweaty shirtless Sam on the loose. Though now that he knew how absolutely delectable he looked with nothing on at all he figured heâd still have a hard time.
Just as heâd predicted, Jake was mostly quiet for the entirety of the drive- though his stereo worked perfectly well and out of it spewed a classic rock playlist unparalleled to any Danny had ever heard before. Another Jimi Hendrix song was nearing its close when Jake stopped his padding of his fingers on the steering wheel and threw his blinker on.
They pulled into a ranch, smaller than the one back at home and in need of a few repairs, but overall sufficient in Dannyâs eyes. After a few more minutes of driving further into the ranch a house came into view, a large mid-century style home with long wide windows that faced the northeast, beautiful rich vines that grew all around the brick and well maintained flower beds lining the pathway to the front door.
When Jake parked at the end of the half circle driveway an elderly man stood up from a porch swing and approached the truck slowly. Danny got out of the truck and followed Jake to meet the man halfway because he had no instructions to do otherwise, but he was honestly a little confused about why they were here.
âYou must be Jacobâ the man greeted and Jake quickly offered to shake with his right hand, placing his left on the manâs shoulder as well as he introduced himself.
âJake Kiszka sir, and this is one of my ranch hands Dannyâ.
Danny nod his head in the manâs direction, but stayed behind Jake to let him do whatever business heâd come all the way out here after nearly three hours driving for.
âBeautiful place you have here. Your pictures didnât do it justiceâ Jake smiled and began to walk toward the house. Again, Danny followed quietly.
âThank you young man. I was really hoping to find someone who would really appreciate it after all the years we spent keeping it together. Iâm afraid the rest of the place has fallen into a bit of neglect, I just donât get around as much as I used toâ.
âOh no! Itâs perfect, exactly what Iâve been looking forâ Jake countered as he helped him up the few steps before taking his hands back off him and looking around to marvel at the porch now that he was on it.
âWell, I wonât make you boys wait around very long. How about a tour?â
Danny glanced over at Jake who showed no sign of any intention to explain to him what was going on, and he turned away to follow the old man inside.
This was not the trip he had been expecting to take with Jake Danny thought to himself while he followed the two around the house. Jake seemed overall excited as he looked over everything he could, admiring the craftsmanship of the home and all the little features only these century builds had. Was he house shopping? All the way out here? What did Jake need such a big home for and on all this property?
He felt out of place here, though neither of them seemed to care that heâd tagged along as they meandered through the kitchen and out to the back patio.
âThis is perfect. It really is so beautifulâ Jake spoke again as the man took a break and sat down in a wicker chair that was part of a matching patio set. Just like the front yard, the back was full of flowers in scattered pots ranging in all sizes, and there was a raised flower bed with a fountain off in the corner of the yard.
âWell I guess I just have one more question for you then. You plan on having any kids? This place was built for a large family ya knowâ the man asked.
âI doâ Jake replied without hesitation. âFour, two boys and two girlsâ he continued, smiling fondly like heâd already had this conversation with someone before.
âIâm glad to hear it. Hopefully they all donât grow up and run off without you like mine did to me. Iâm gonna miss this place thatâs for sure but after my Petunia passed away last fall I just canât stand the quiet any longer. My home has never been quiet before, so now itâs just stopped feeling like a homeâ.
âWell, Iâll be more than happy to take it off your hands sir. And I promise Iâll continue your legacyâ.
âJust give me a few days to consider your offer and Iâll keep in touch with youâ.
He stood up slowly and Jake shook his hand once more before he motioned for Danny to leave with him. Once they were back at the truck Jake started the engine but instead of putting the gear shift into drive he turned to Danny.
âLook, I know Josh sent you with me to figure out what it is Iâm up to. Iâd appreciate it if you kept this between us for just a little while longerâ.
Dannyâs eyes widened in disbelief. Heâd been hoodwinked by Josh to spy on his brother for him? Heâd had no idea, but with Jake being so sneaky and secretive he could see why now. Not wanting to get any further in the middle of it Danny just shook his head yes and with that Jake started to drive back down the road to the highway without another word.
They made a few more stops here and there in the town nearby. Danny figured Jake was trying to get a feel of the town, see what all it had to offer him if he did move out here. It was starting to near five oâ clock and Danny figured if there wasnât much else on Jakeâs itinerary for the evening then they could just go ahead and make the drive home, but Jake seemed to dilly dally around everywhere they went like he wasnât in any hurry to be leaving.
To his dismay they checked into their motel and Danny dropped off his backpack into his room, flopping down onto the hard bed and staring at the popcorn ceiling for a good while before he huffed and tossed his head over to the side. He saw the phone on the nightstand and wondered if he should give Sam a call. Was he missing him as much as he was? Or was Sam enjoying his space for a while?
A familiar knock at the door kept him from swallowing his fears and dialing the number heâd quickly memorized. âDrinks?â Jake questioned simply when Danny opened the door. Danny looked back over his shoulder at the empty dull room and the phone sitting patiently on the cheap veneer and decided he didnât really have much else to do so he shrugged and grabbed his wallet and room key.
The bar they went to reminded him of the bar he and Sam had gone to before. Figures most bars in these small towns would all look the same. It was a busy night, a local sports team was playing a home game so a lot of the tables near the flatscreens that hung from walls covered with typical bar decor were already taken.
After ordering a few beers from the bar Jake chose a table near the back, waiting for Danny to join him.
âSo, am I allowed to ask questions or do I just have to keep quiet completely?â Danny raised his voice over the sound of cheering patrons once theyâd settled in and started drinking.
Jake took a moment to decide, gulping down his first beer quickly while it was still cold. âDepends on what you want to askâ.
Heâd take that as a clearance to go ahead. âWell, I guess why are you moving away?â
âNext questionâ Jake responded, keeping his eyes on all the people starting to crowd the bar instead of making eye contact with Danny.
âDoes Josh know?â If Jake had a suspicion Josh sent Danny along to report back to him, then Jake must not have told him outright, but he still asked to be sure.
âHe knows I have bigger plans than just the ranch. I want to branch off on my own a little. Expand the business someâ.
âStart a family?â Danny raised his brows and Jake actually glanced at him from the corner of his eye. Yeah he wasnât elaborating on that one.
âDoes Sam know?â
Jake sighed and gave up on avoiding Danny, turning to face him head on now. There were his own questions about Danny and his brother and how well theyâd been getting along recently- because Sam didnât get along with just anybody, he of all people knew that. For some reason though he felt like he didnât need to ask Danny about it, because heâd honestly never seen Sam happier and so full of life before Danny came to work for them.
âIâm going to go to the restroomâ Jake excused himself, getting up from the table and disappearing into the crowd.
Danny waited for a while, like a long while, before he started to get a little nervous that Jake hadnât returned. Surely he was fine, Jake could very well take care of himself, but nonetheless Danny got up and started to look for him.
The bathrooms were gross and the trashcan was overflowing with paper towels, but at least that meant people were washing their hands after right? The bar was still full, but no one matched the description of his missing companion. After making a few circles around the bar Danny stepped outside and noticed that the spot Jake had parked his truck in when they arrived now had a small car parked there instead. He couldnât believe it, but Jake had ditched him.
The table they were at earlier was now occupied when Danny stepped back inside, so he squeezed into a spot at the bar while he waited to get the attention of one of the busy bar backs.
âCan I close my tab, and do you know the number for any taxis around here?â
âHoney this town doesnât have taxis. You need a ride I can call Big Bob to see if he can come get yaâ the woman behind the bar rasped through her cigarette stained voice as her press on nails clicked against the counter.
âUmm, yeah I guess give him a call for me if you wouldnât mindâ Danny replied, trying not to sound repulsed by the idea of hitching a ride back to the motel with whoever âBig Bobâ was.
The lady nod her head and stuffed the cash he gave her into her bra strap before walking into the back, hopefully to make that phone call and get him out of here.
A few minutes passed and she hadnât returned yet, Danny was starting to grow irritated that Jake had just up and left him here. Maybe heâd said something to piss him off? Either way it was kind of a douchy thing to do and Danny had more respect for Jake than that one opinion of him.
âHeyâ a females voice called from beside Danny. âHavenât seen you round here beforeâ.
âJust here for the nightâ Danny smiled kindly at her, a younger girl this time with natural curly hair like his own only in a lighter shade.
âNames Anna, whatâs yours?â
âHi, Dannyâ he replied just out of politeness, though he could already tell during their brief interaction that this poor girl was drunk off her ass. She was leaning her hip against the counter, but she was still swaying back and forth and her words were a bit slurred.
âDanny, nice to meet yaâ she swayed forward again and placed her hand on his thigh just above the knee.
Danny sat up in the barstool and cleared his throat, ready to explain to the girl that he was not interested, but then he happened to look over her shoulder and see a man behind her making the most disgusting eyes at her.
He never saw himself as a martyr or a savior of any kind, but he immediately knew he could not leave and let her stay here while she was this inebriated and getting these nasty looks from other men.
âNice to meet you Anna. Hey, can I ask you if youâre with anyone else here?â
âNope! My bestie is out of town right now, so I came out to have some fun on my own!â She easily answered and removed her hand from Dannyâs leg but only because she stumbled backwards into the man behind her.
Danny quickly stood up and grabbed her shoulders gently, switching places and letting her sit down instead. âDid you drive yourself here?â
âI didâ she giggled and pulled out her keys from her front pocket, dangling them and giggling some more.
âOkay, Iâm going to take these and get you home safely. Do you need to pay your bar tab or anything?â
âHmm?â She looked confused at the bartenders still working like she couldnât remember if she had a tab open or not until it hit her. âOh! No, those guys over there were buying my drinksâ. She pointed her finger and Dannyâs eyes followed the direction of it to a group of men standing around a table, one of them being the one who was just with them. Yeah, he definitely had to help get her out of here.
âLetâs get you home now. Come on, show me where your car isâ.
He placed his hand around her waist and walked her out the bar, burning up inside about how negligent the bartenders had been in not noticing how drunk this girl had gotten.
It took a few minutes of them walking around the small parking lot trying to find her car, Danny keeping her from tripping on the cracked asphalt until finally theyâd reached it.
Once Danny turned out of the bar and onto the dark foreign street he realized he hadnât really thought past this point. âCan you tell me your address?â He asked her as he drove around aimlessly, wondering how he was going to even get back to the motel from there. Maybe she had roommates and theyâd graciously give him a ride after he got her back safely. He was trying to keep his hopes up.
Anna on the other hand didnât respond, and he looked over to see she was already falling asleep in the seat. âHeyâ he shook her shoulder gently and she batted her thick mascara covered eyelashes as she tried to regain some semblance of consciousness. âYour address, where do you live?â
Still no response from her, and it was getting later and later. Danny sighed as he looked down and saw she only had about a quarter of a tank of gas. He could not keep driving around in circles like this if either of them were going to get somewhere to sleep tonight. Deciding he had no other choice he squinted through the darkness and her dim headlights to try and remember his way back to the motel, thanking himself for being so attentive when he finally found it.
âAnna, I promise you are safe with me. Do you want to come in and lay down?â Danny asked gently after he opened the door and startled her back awake. She tried to take in her surroundings, but a sickness quickly came over her and Danny jumped back as she leaned out the car and threw up.
âIâm so sorryâ she groaned once she was done emptying the contents of her stomach onto the ground.
âYouâre okay, Iâll go get you some water but first letâs get you out of the carâ.
Danny helped her out without letting her step in the mess and got her into the bathroom to wash up a bit before laying her down into the bed. Though the bed was big enough he knew he shouldnât sleep with her. Even if she remembered he didnât do anything with her when she woke up, for his own peace of mind he decided heâd sleep on the floor.
After she was back asleep Danny went to the office and asked for another pillow and blanket then purchased a couple of bottles of water and a small box of Advil. She would definitely need this in the morning and he probably would too after sleeping on the floor.
He tried not to think about how nasty the carpet in the room was as he laid down and closed his eyes. Sleeping right now seemed nearly impossible as thoughts rushed through his head of how in the hell he got into this situation. Jake hadnât told him what the plan was for the morning, so before he laid down heâd set an alarm for early so he could get his new companion up and out of his room before Jake came knocking.
Sam certainly would kill him if he found out he spent the night in his room with some random girl from a podunk bar. Eventually it was the comfort of getting to see Sam again tomorrow that finally lulled Danny into a restless sleep.

Heyyy bestie, since ur not tired of me yet. I have another request for cowboy/farm boy bob. Also would like to mention that when I think of cowboy bob, Rhett abbot is exactly what Bob would be like hands down 100% u canât change my mind.
Bob being a successful bull rider and the team seeing pictures of his growing up and riding a bull after they visit his childhood farmhouse. Also some pictures with his gf, and she has a very similar hat on to what bob had on pictures prior, and maybe some of the team asking why Jakeâs smirking bc he knows the cowboy hat rule and obviously, they donât. Which they get the explanation later in the night after a few beers.
Hi hi bestie! I will never get tired of you and your wonderful ideas about our dear Bob đđŠ I totally agree that Bob when he returns to his hometown is just like Rhett.
Bob's mother is that kind of mother who likes to leave the achievement of all her children well displayed for any visitor to see while in her house.
There are several awards from his sisters and Bob's awards, first place in the math and physics olympiad, first place in the science fair (from when he made his model volcano really explode) and of course awards from when he rode bulls in his teens. There are several pictures of him riding the bulls and holding his awards, and several more with you by his side.
Phoenix takes one and says how cute she thinks the two of you are, everyone agrees but Jake laughs as soon as he sees the picture in question and realizes that you were wearing Bob's hat.
"Baby on board, I would never think that of you, I thought you were just a cute nerd but look at that" Jake comments before taking another sip of his beer and the rest of the team doesn't seem to understand "Did she follow the rule?" He asks.
"A lady never counts" you reply which makes you, Jake and Bob laugh and the squadron even more confused.
