Reason number 562,000 that the theft and appropriation of AAVE sucks, people using phrases out of context to revel in self-victimization. "Maybe you'll call me a pick-me for this," dude, no one cares if you like your partner/boyfriend/spouse. A lot of people forget this, but you should like your romantic partner. A pick-me is very specifically a woman so desperate for male validation she validates misogynistic and anti-feminist talking points so that men with open contempt for women will see her as one of the "good ones" and pick her. Women like this delude themselves into believing that they'll be spared from poor treatment by the men they're striving to impress, but spoiler alert: they won't be. .
Thanks for coming to my ted talk

Voodoo Working with Baron Samedi
This white man is trying to mess with some of the strongest medicine that can exist. he should know better because his people only bring out the deadly parts of the Loa.
Avoid doing any of this if you are not consecrated to him, and initiated.

As we begin the month of October and many of the prompt fest such as Inktober, Kinktober, Whumptober, Flufftober, Podfic Fest, and all the others that will bring new content, a friendly hint:
Do. Not. Do. This.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reposting artwork, fic, podfics, whatever without permission or credit is stealing. It’s also just a shitty thing to do at all times but especially right now in today’s climate with AI. I know it’s sad to lose content you get comfort from but this is not the answer. All it’s going to do is drive creators away.
We share our creations with love. Please don’t be an entitled asshole in return.

Land Day: What happened in Palestine in 1976?
Every year on March 30, Palestinians hold protests and vigils and plant olive trees to reaffirm their connection to the land.
(30th of March 2024)
Tumblr media

Every year on March 30, Palestinians observe Land Day, or Yom al-Ard, recalling the events of March 30, 1976, when six unarmed Palestinians were killed and more than 100 injured by Israeli forces during protests against Israel’s confiscation of Palestinian land.
Tumblr media
How much land did Israel confiscate?
Israel ordered the confiscation of 2,000 hectares (4,942 acres) of land belonging to Palestinian citizens of Israel in the Galilee. These plans were part of Israeli state policy to Judaise Galilee following the creation of the state of Israel.
The confiscated land is roughly the size of 3,000 football pitches or the area from the tip of Manhattan to Central Park in New York, US.
What do Palestinians do on Land Day?
Palestinians, both inside Israel and across the occupied territory, mark this day by holding protests and vigils and planting olive trees to reaffirm their connection to the land. The protests are often met with brutal use of force by Israel.

Is Israel still seizing land?
Yes, Israel has continued to seize large swaths of Palestinian land, designating them as military zones, state land and other labels.
Most recently, on March 22, 2024, Israel’s Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich declared Israel was seizing 800 hectares (1,977 acres) in the occupied West Bank, in a move that would facilitate building more illegal settlements.
“While there are those in Israel and in the world who seek to undermine our right to Judea and Samaria and the country in general, we promote settlement through hard work and in a strategic manner all over the country,” Smotrich said, using Biblical names for the area that are commonly heard in Israel.
Settlements – illegal under international law – are Jewish-only communities built on Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.
On March 6, Israel’s settlement-planning authority announced it had approved the construction of some 3,500 new housing units in Maale Adumim, Kedar and Efrat within the occupied West Bank.
Tumblr media
From November 1, 2022 to October 31, 2023, Israel has approved at least 24,000 illegal housing units to be built on Palestinian land.
Earlier this month, the United Nations’ High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk said settlements had expanded by a record amount and risked eliminating any possibility of a Palestinian state.

German Police Arrest Suspects in Theft of 483 Celtic Gold Coins from Museum
The men were found in possession of gold bars, likely made by melting down the stolen coins.
Gold bars made from melted-down ancient Celtic coins that were stolen in a museum heist have been found by police in Germany. Four suspects have been arrested.
Thieves stole 483 coins from the Celtic Roman Museum in Manching after midnight on November 22, 2022. They severed several fiber optic cables, which caused internet and telephone connections in 13,000 households to go down for several hours. About an hour later, the museum was broken into and the suspects pried open two locked doors to make off with the gold coins.
The prosecutor’s office in Ingolstadt and the art investigators of the Bavarian State Criminal Police Office took over the investigations and recovered two blue crowbars, pruning shears, and a side cutter in the nearby area.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Police found a trace of DNA on the recovered items and conducted search in a nationwide DNA database and in neighboring countries, which alerted investigators to a string of eight similar thefts in Germany and Austria since 2014.
“The perpetrators were always equipped in the same way during the burglaries,” police said in a statement translated from German. “They wore black overalls with balaclavas and each had identical crowbars, screwdrivers and an angle grinder with several cutting discs.”
By examining the crime spree incidents together, investigators were able to identify the first suspect, a 42-year-old man from Schwerin, believed to have been involved in an April 2018 burglary. Through him, police identified a second suspect described as a 46-year-old German man.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Investigators eventually discovered two more suspects, a 50-year-old man from Schwerin and a 43-year-old man from Berlin, police said. The four men were arrested Tuesday and brought before investigating judges on Wednesday.
Police said the 43-year-old man from Berlin was carrying 18 gold nuggets in a plastic bag when he was arrested. Forensic analysts identified the material composition as having levels of gold, silver, and copper that corresponded to the composition of the stolen coins.
Prosecutors have charged the men with aggravated gang theft in combination with damaging property and disrupting telecommunications systems.
The museum praised the “significant success” of the investigation in a brief statement on Facebook.

(Wonderful news that there has been arrests in this case but very sad that some, if not all of the coins have been destroyed)

OFMD is not getting a season three, confirmed by David Jenkins on Instagram.
I respect the mourning that my friends are doing right now. I personally am not really that disappointed, though. Partially because it's what I expected.
I've been pretty open about my disappointment with the second half of the season, and unfortunately engagement with the show dropped like a rock after the finale aired. While the fandom has been at each other's throats, most normies I talk to felt that the finale was mid. Which is not a great spot to be in for renewal.
Unfortunately, sometimes there's a consequence to poor follow through with your narrative themes. The second half of the season was a shitshow. While I think they could have turned it around, it was a very narrow shot in the first place—and corpos don't want narrow shots, they want easy wins.
It's up to us, now. It's up to us to create stories that pick up where the corpos "ended" it. OFMD, after all, doesn't belong to them, not really.
It belongs to us, now more than ever.

Clan Culture: Kitten Stealing
Content warning for reasons I hope are obvious! Girl they are taking the babies!
Tumblr media
[Image ID: A cat is carrying a kitten by the scruff]
An ancient Clan tradition from before the Queen's Rights were established, abolished by Darkstar's Commandment that kittens were never to be put in danger ever again.
Before it became law to not ask a queen where her kittens came from, "Kitten Claiming" was how the clans maintained genetic diversity. Just like how a Clan incapable of defending its borders is not worthy of having them, the same used to apply to their kittens.
In spite of the Law of Honor which forbade the killing of combatant warriors, camp invasions were quite bloody. Parents willing to defend their kittens to the death were killed, citing the code's 'self-defense' exception... and yet, the practice continued.
Kittens were not announced at Gatherings for the simple reason that it would make the Clan an open target, instead, they would only be announced as apprentices when loyalty to their birth Clan was expected to have set in.
Clan culture's shockingly progressive view of adoption, in spite of their talk of "Forest Blood" and "Clanborn Cats," is rooted from this practice; the parents that raise kittens into apprenticeship are considered that cat's parents socially, even if they had been literally stolen.
Kittypet kittens were occasionally snatched as well; but would be subject to discrimination unlike Clan kittens "rightfully claimed."
In the modern era, this is called "Kit Stealing" and it's considered an outdated, barbaric practice.
