Opening up pattern testing for my emperor penguin design!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I've been typing a lot + tumblr glitched and deleted the post, so no spoons for alt text. Will credit and add if someone is kind enough to do it for me. The below is mostly copy-pasted.)
Hello and welcome to my first attempt to get a pattern tested! Since I’m not sure how many testers will be interested, I don’t have a limit or a deadline as of now.
I can’t pay anyone, so what you’ll get for testing is the completed pattern in PDF form for free - and if I ever have to update the pattern, I’ll send you those updated versions as well. I’ll also thank you personally in the pattern listing, either with your username on tumblr or any other name you’d rather I use.
I haven’t posted the pattern anywhere yet. If you agree to be a tester, I will privately send you a link to a google doc. If you have an account on ravelry.com, I'll also send the tester code for my draft so you can link a project to it.
How I’d like this to go:
Testers email me at [email protected] to let me know they want to test (having it all there will make it easier for me to handle).
I send you the link (and the tester code if applicable).
You share any questions or criticisms you have about the pattern so I can change it if needed.
Once all is completed, I send you the finished PDF.
Testers upload your project + pictures with the tester code (if applicable).
I upload the pattern with thanks to anyone who tested in the description.
If you don't post on Ravelry, you can post pics here on Tumblr and link to the pattern after I've uploaded it.
I hope I’m doing this right! If anyone wants to test but can’t go through email, I’m okay with DMs too. I’ll answer any questions on this post or through asks. (But my carpal tunnel is flaring up so it may be a few hours from now.)

"I asked for one taste-tester, not five!"
A disgruntled Percy in apron shouldn't feel so threatening, but somehow he reminded more of their mum. It was probably because they were in the kitchen.
Percy had finally gone outside his room and he had decided that this was a perfect day for some baking. He originally learnt "feminine hobbies" (as Charlie called it) to help his mother in the household, as the good, responsible son he was. But to his surprise, he found it enjoyable to cook, bake, knit and crochet.
Mrs Weasley often said that he would do wonderful as a future husband.
The downside was that as soon as he started to cook or bake, his siblings tended to crowd the kitchen and fight to be the "taste-tester". And lick the bowl.
Percy pinched the bridge of his nose, sighing heavily and praying for Merlin to give him patience while his brothers and Ginny bickered and shouted at each other about whose turn it was now.
"I was here first, Ron!" Ginny yelled.
"You went last time, it's my turn!"
"It's my turn!"
"No, it's my turn!"
"All of you, SHUT UP!" Percy bellowed at them before he inhaled. "Fred, George, Ron and Ginny. Go and play Quidditch. Harry, you get to be the taste-tester."
"WHAT?!"
Percy rolled his eyes. "Because none of you idiots are acting as good hosts or can behave yourselves, so Harry wins by default. Besides, I trust his judgement."
Later, Harry sat by the long table and, after some encouragement from Percy, he happily tasted whatever Percy made and gave feedback.
Turns out that he could win Harry's favour if he got any dessert with syrup.

Here he is! As you can probably see this is a different one cause I started a second one while the air dry clay dries. (Also I was writing up a pattern in a notebook as I went a long so let me know if you'd be interested in a "Crochet - Me - Wiggly" pattern or something XD might do a tester call or something in a few days)

pattern tester call!
long shot, but I'm gonna try my luck on here too anyway
Hi, I’m looking for people willing to test my pattern for a semi-realistic dragon plushie. I don’t have a set number of testers in mind, but any help is appreciated!
I’m looking for feedback on whether or not the pattern is easy to follow, and if there’s any areas that require more clear explanations. There might also be stitch count mistakes in some rounds/rows, so I’d appreciate feedback on that as well. I’m attaching links for pictures of the finished plushie.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Requirements and info under a cut:
Being able to complete the project within the next three weeks (deadline: May 5). I can be flexible with the deadline if that doesn’t work for anyone, but ideally I’d want to post this pattern sometime in May).
Providing feedback.
being an intermediate level crocheter. This project has several areas that would prove difficult for a beginner.
Ideally, not being familiar with tunisian crochet. The majority of the pattern uses normal crochet stitches, but the wings are made with a mix of regular crochet and tunisian simple stitches. I included detailed photo tutorials for them, but I want to test if the pattern is understandable for someone who never used tunisian crochet stitches before.
not sharing or redistributing the pattern
willingness to give me an email address for us to communicate
What you’ll need:
a 3 mm and a 4 mm hook.
stuffing
your preferred stitch markers
a yarn needle (better if curved)
one pair of 10 mm safety eyes
fabric pins
DK acrylic yarn in 2 main colors (I used red and light brown) + scraps of a third (I used white) for the claws. No need for a specific brand of yarn. I used almost an entire 50gr skein of red with 140m/153yds of mileage. You need less than half of that in brown.
about 20 cm of sturdy wire. Anything between 1.8mm and 2mm should work.
Notes: This pattern uses the yarn under method of crocheting for the majority of the piece except the wings, which are worked with the yarn over method. The 4mm hook listed is only for the wings, belly patch and the spine frills. The rest of the pattern uses a 3mm hook. Using DK yarn, the dragon measures roughly 26 cm long and 14 cm tall, and has a wingspan of about 24 cm.
Please let me know if anyone is willing to help! Participants will receive a copy of the pattern by email. I can’t offer monetary compensation but I will email you a copy of the revised pattern once it’s done.

Impromptu call for crochet pattern testers! I designed a smol chicken and would like to put up the pattern for free on my website + for one Euro as a PDF on ko-fi, like I did the strawberry, but I'd like to actually test this one and have folks show off the results. Literally just two people would be good.
Tumblr media
What you'd do:
Follow the pattern.
Let me know if it's unclear and needs some edits.
Post a pic of the results with a link to the pattern once it's up.
What you'd get:
The PDF for free.
A credit + link in the pattern both on the website and in the product description wherever I sell the PDF.
Anyone interested? I'll smooth out the pattern document today and we'd start tomorrow. It shouldn't take long, so I'll say there's a week deadline in case folks can't get to it in the next couple days.
Edit: Got two people like I hoped! I'll post the pattern link when it's ready for the public

Vintage Pattern Terminology Update: Knee Warmer (AKA Crochet Knee Cap)
Tumblr media
(I will be releasing this as a free PDF pattern on my Ravelry page in a week or so. But I got the overall rewrite done already, so here you go!)
First published in Priscilla Wool Crochet Book 1908, revised 1912; edited by Lola Burch Hetitch; Within Public Domain in the United States
Supplies:
3.50 mm hook
Stitch markers
Scissors
Tapestry needle
3 ounces of 4-ply wool -- fingering weight (3 ounces equals just over 85 grams)
Note: While the original pattern calls for 100% wool, a wool blend with nylon or other secondary, stretchy fiber would also work. For tester pieces, Cascade 220 Fingering (100% Wool) and Knitpicks Chroma (70% Superwash Wool / 30% Nylon) were used. Items came out very similar.
Stitches:
Chain
Back Loop Only Single Crochet (BLO SC)
Front Loop Only Single Crochet (FLO SC)
Sizing:
Knee Cap laid flat before wearing: 4”
Knee Cap as designed fits up to a 14” knee circumference and a 16” thigh.
For a larger kneecap/thigh, add 2 rows to the first six rows, 2 rows to the middle six rows, and 2 rows to the final six rows per inch you would like to add.
Pattern:
Work 42 chains loosely
Row 1: Skip first chain. SC 41. Chain 1. Turn.
Row 2: BLO SC in all stitches in previous row. 41 BLO SC. Chain 1. Turn.
Row 3-6: Repeat row 2
Row 7: BLO SC in first 20 stitches. In FLO of next stitch, complete 3 FLO SC. Place a stitch marker in the second FLO SC and move it into the corresponding stitch throughout the pattern. 20 BLO sc to end. Chain 1. Turn.
Row 8: BLO SC in first 20 stitches. FLO SC in the next 3 stitches. BLO SC in following 20 stitches. Chain 1. Turn.
Row 9:  BLO SC in first 20 stitches. FLO SC in next stitch. Work 3 FLO SC in the following stitch. FLO SC in next stitch. BLO SC in next 20 stitches. Chain 1. Turn.
Row 10: BLO SC in first 20 stitches. FLO SC in the FLO SC stitches of the previous row. BLO SC in next 20 stitches. Chain 1. Turn.
Rows 11-25: Repeat rows 9 and 10 until you have 21 FLO SC stitches (Row 25)
Rows 26-31: work even, working 20 BLO SC, 21 FLO SC,  and 20 BLO SC. End each row with a Chain 1. Turn.
Row 32: Work 20 BLO. Skip the first FLO SC stitch. FLO SC in next 20 stitches. 20 BLO SC to end. Chain 1. Turn.
Rows 33-51: Repeat 32nd row 19 times. You will skip a FLO SC each row until you are back to the original 41 stitches at the end of the 51st row.
Rows 52-57: Work even in BLO SC. Chain 1 and turn at the end of each row. Fasten off at the end of row 57.
Seam the two long sides together. Use a tapestry needle to weave in the ends.

Made a tester for the ten-stitch tunisian crochet blanket thanks to the encouragement and inspiration from @crafty-gemini
I really like the vibe of this! The pattern isn't too complex, I feel like this could be a project for couch time watching TV.
I have one long overdue WIP and one promised project before I give myself any more big projects though, so it's gonna be a while before I start this in earnest.
Yarn is carin simply soft in the color pagoda. Suggested crochet hook size is 5mm, I used 6mm because I've heard that tunisian calls for a bigger hook, it worked great! Very smushy.
