Part 2: After the Rain - Life in an Appalachian Temperate Forest.
From top: Wild ginger (Asarum canadense), also known as Canadian snakeroot; Philadelphia fleabane (Erigeron philadelphicus), a lovely spring aster deserving of a more dignified name; white wood violet (Viola sororia albiflora), a white variation of the common blue violet; woodland phlox (Phlox divaricata), also called wild blue phlox; creeping phlox (Phlox stolonifera), a mountain native and the most delicate and beautiful of Appalachia’s many wonderful phlox species; and Allegheny blackberry (Rubus allegheniensis).

Moss pinks, or creeping phlox in someone’s garden. They’re so pretty close up.

Birthday gift for @the-kk-crow! It’s their versions of little Dream and Nightmare, back when they were kids playing with flower crowns.
(Night’s is made of buttercups and poison ivy; thankfully neither twin has issues with the latter, since skeletons have no skin! ^_^)

Creeping phlox (Phlox subulata) is a versatile, easy-to-grow ground cover that prefers full sun and well-draining soil. It is drought-tolerant and requires minimal watering, making it an excellent choice for low-maintenance gardens. Creeping phlox produces a stunning carpet of colorful blooms in the spring and tends to spread, making it a popular choice for rock gardens, borders, and slopes - or as a weed suppressant. Creeping phlox is native to the eastern and central United States.

Update from the native wildflower beds: the creeping woodland phlox (Phlox stolonifera) is now in full, vigorous bloom. This graceful, shade-loving perennial has a mat-forming habit that makes it an ideal ground cover. The plant's hairy, red-tinged stems, which sport delicate, spoon-shaped leaves, spread freely and need an occasional manicure to keep them from taking over. Also in bloom are the heartleaf foamflower (Tiarella cordifolia) and eastern red columbine (Aquilegia canadensis), whose tall, elegant flowering stalks are producing masses of flowers (it must like the location). The wild geranium is also loaded up with flowers (photos to come).

I don’t feel okay right now so please just look at my gardens and enjoy them. I want to curl up and not exist aughhh- work is taking a toll on my health and so is living around abusive family….my house may be my space but they can still barge in whenever they want to. I don’t have friends. I don’t have help. I feel so goddamn trapped and helpless and just wanna stab myself relentlessly tbf….I am tired of it all. HahahahhahahahahaA hah…….physically and emotionally…..will I ever catch a break while I’m still breathing? Probably not….don’t worry I’m too scared of the afterlife to actually do anything to myself haha- trauma is so fucking fun it’s like a never ending party! /sarcasm.
