About hints and patterns
Throughout the history of GGDD, we have noticed that they sometimes act as messenger birds for each other - one hints at some event, and then it happens to other. This is a direct hint.
But there is another type of hints - when the event that one of them hints at has already happened before, but we don’t know about it yet and don't understand this hint. But then the other person tells us about this event, and only then does it become clear to us that the hint has already been made. If we don't consider this a coincidence, then we will have to admit that such information could have been known to another person only through personal communication, because it was not publicly known about it.
I want to recall a few examples of such cases, they occurred over a not very long period of time - less than a year.
All this is fake, CPN and empty thoughts. Clownery. 🤡
DD's “Water show” — GG's vlog
On July 10, 2023, the event was held in Beijing dedicated to the premiere of One and only. DD participated in it, he danced and splashed water on the audience. While dansing DD made a couple of gestures that the turtles paid attention to - the “figure eight” and the famous “chongya” gesture. Everyone, of course, remembered the meaning of these gestures and was glad that DD made them. But then it turned out that he did them for a reason.
On July 11, GG’s vlog was released, and suddenly both of these gestures appeared in this vlog. Can this be considered two coincidences that occurred within 24 hours?
No one, of course, knew in advance what would be in GG’s vlog, the vlog was filmed a long time ago, but it turns out that DD knew this the day before the vlog was released.
Leica
October 3, 2023 DD, while in Paris, shows off his Leica camera. The turtles remembered that once upon a time GG also had Leica, and assumed that DD probably received the gift from GG.
But the next time a shocking surprise awaits us - at midnight from October 4 to 5, the congratulation to GG appears on his birthday and GG's photos with Leica, and even the camera model is similar. GG’s photos were taken back in the summer, and DD told us that “GG will appear with Leica tomorrow.” In this case, the version of coincidence seems quite weak.
"Do everything for your love"
On November 8, 2023, a new DD endorsement (YaYa) was released. A post appears on the brand’s Weibo account, the text of which contains words spoken about DD: “他为热爱全力以赴” (“he does everything for love”).
On November 9, NARS live stream with GG is released, at the end of which GG gives the wish speech, including saying: “希望大家为自己热爱全力以赴” (“I hope everyone will do everything for their love”).
As you can see, he uses the same phrase almost verbatim. It is not known what of this happened first - the stream was recorded or the advertising text was agreed upon, but if this accordance was intentional, then it was possible to find out the details only through personal communication. It could be a coincidence, but after a few months the following happens:
GG's vlog - Anta advertising
On March 1, 2024, XZS posts Milan vlog, where the viewer is offered the concept of a circle and round objects, the idea of the cycle of life or another interpretation. The image of the moon also runs throughout the vlog.
On March 2, the advertisement for Anta is released, in the video we see a suspiciously similar concept - a round basketball that flashes throughout the entire video and (suddenly!) turns into the moon above building, and the drawing of a lace that resembles the stylized name “border” in GG's vlog. There are even sunset. Even the text for the post uses the same words 边界 (“border”) - 去探索，多元未知的边界 "Go explore diverse and unknown borders” (full video is here).
I don't know what the brand had in mind, unless consider it pure coincidence, but they certainly couldn't make an ad copying GG's vlog concept overnight! Of course, it was known about the “border” and the stylization of the name since the GG's October vlog, but a circle, a setting sun, a ball that turns into the moon? Next day. How?
The Coin
And now, this coin. Five days passed between GG's vlog and the release of Chang Feng Po Lang trailer, but the consistent appearance of the coin that is the "protagonist" of the vlog and the coin that DD rubs his cheek with in the trailer is amazing. If you pay attention, even the sizes of these coins are the same.
I don’t think that the image of the coin in the vlog was subordinated only to the idea of hinting at the imminent release of the series with DD, probably the idea is much deeper, but what do we know about GG’s creative thinking and about his ability to convey a message very subtly?
All this could be considered coincidences if this didn't happen so often and according to the same pattern: event - hint – explanation. I’m sure I haven’t listed everything and there is more, this is just what I noticed.
Perhaps this is one of the things that keeps us firmly in this "rabbit hole" - their connection, which sometimes manifests itself in unexpected ways, their ingenuity to show this connection. I would compare them to the ocean, which always seems to remain the same, but which you never get tired of looking at.

It’s one thing for CP fans to deal with homophobic idiots online… It’s another when it’s effecting them and making it EVEN HARDER to see each other 😢 This is the world they live in (that too many people have to live in)… And it’s sad to be reminded of that.
Sure, it was nice to have a giggle over Yibo being in Hengdian (where XZ was) over the holiday… But it seems to me that the guy who posted about it was more interested in getting attention from other fans than in doing what decent CP fans make a priority: protecting them.
We are continually reminded that a minority voice filled with vitriol and hate can be louder and more dangerous than those of love and hope. As much as we are always so desperate for any little hint of them being together, I really hope this was a reminder to our fellow turtles in China to be more careful… To keep the juiciest pieces of candy off main and in the group chats.
Because there would be nothing worse to me than a situation where they are forced out of the closet and all hell rains down 🥺 (Somebody that hates me but is a very good writer wrote a really good, devastatingly sad fic about a similar situation. When things like this happen and solos lash out, I always think about this fic and how potentially possible it is 😢)
It’s hard. It’s hard to watch the homophobia. And I don’t know what the answer is given the limitations of China. But I have seen progress made in the 4 years I’ve been in this fandom - in online interactions, in Chinese dramas, on social media. Change is slow - acceptance is slower. But I truly think XZ and WYB are changing hearts. And turtles are a big part of that. I just hope we can all be careful and keep them safe in the process.

in yesterday's xz's so called "random drop" it is also interesting to look at the arrangement of photos from the same photoshoot.

I loved this post by @rainbowsky, especially this part:
[Turtles] fly under the radar by being seen as a crazy fringe group, a bunch of deluded clowns. They are underestimated and dismissed because of this, which protects GG and DD.
A lot of turtles wear that proudly because they know that they're acting as a shield for GG and DD. Turtles make it possible for GG and DD to get public support for their relationship without having their relationship outed. Turtles take all the hate and ridicule that's piled on them, so that they can show GG and DD they're loved and supported.
This is one of the things about turtles that is most beautiful and powerful. Turtles stick their necks out every day to support and protect GG and DD.
I love that by being weirdos, we are protecting and allowing them to live a little more loudly.
There are things they wouldn't be able to do, but since they have us as this huge crazy fandom, they can pass those actions off as candy.
They can't mention anything about each other - can't casually say they'll spend the Lunar New Year with their in-laws, or reply to someone, "thank you for complimenting [X], my husband made it/gave it to me." But they could share snapshots through, say, LGLR rumors. It's human to want to mention the person you're in love with, and having a CP fandom means they have all of us to carefully, semi-secretly mention to.
It makes me proud of being a fan, because I help create a space for them to (semi) exist publicly as queer people in love with one another.

I want to say so much…
There are only 4 photos in today's post, but GG put a huge number of different things in them. Concentration of love and longing.
All these are my fabrications and fantasies. Fake, CPN. 🤡
Of course, this is the Milan Cathedral. This is the third time that GG goes to Milan and photographs it. We don't know exactly what this symbolizes for him (a wedding? The hope of marriage?), but it is definitely a ritual.
This cathedral is even in GG’s pilot post on Instagram, which he made last year.
The moon, the meaning and symbolism of which is well known to us. They travel abroad and take photographs of the moon, which represents their hearts and longing for someone who is not beside at the moment. Even the way the moon peeks out from behind the clouds is very similar.
The already familiar Re-Web sneakers from Gucci. This is the first time in my memory that GG posts shoes so purposefully, and there are even red and green colors on them. Posting shoes is usually DD's prerogative, but this time GG decided to do it too. «Shoes» in Chinese are 鞋子 xié zi - XZ, and in combination with «Web» it is very interesting.
Carbohydrates. It is known that GG is on a diet all the time and strictly limits the consumption of carbs. In the text of the post, GG says: “The plan to give up carbs “was not crowned with success.” At the same time, there is not even a hint of any food in the photo. But this phrase refers us to the recent fake materials from February 22, where GG and DD talked about carbs. Amazing "coincidence".
Sunset. There is no need to even talk about this in detail. It is beautiful. GG posted two photos against the backdrop of the sunset, in one we see him in profile, and in the other from the back. Doesn't it look like the other person?
This time there is kadian. Perhaps, of course, this is a coincidence. Or maybe not.
Another little funny detail - for some reason GG's IP shows Netherlands. Most likely it's just a technical glitch or something like that. But the interesting thing is that Netherlands is the first country in the world where same-sex marriage was legalized on April 1, 2001, and couples were given all rights, including the right to have children. The behind the scenes videos - SO MANY COINCIDENCES! 🔥🤭😆
🍬XZ’s video opens with a tiny video screen (and don’t think I don’t see all those little read and green lights!) and later in Yibo’s video there’s the coordination with the TV props and this shot with the video camera… almost as if they were making it look like he filmed XZ’s earlier 😉
By the way the music in Yibo’s video is Dayflower by Cathedral Bells - gotta love how the Captain hammers 🔨🔨🔨😂
XZ’s video featured a glimpse of a white peony - and we know whose nickname that was when he first started in the industry 😏
And just a little of my own CPN, it seems like the photo shoots where Yibo is rumored to be with XZ or they are getting ready for an event together, we catch these little glimpses of fond smiles… Which seem so reminiscent of interactions when they were filming and promoting that I like to think he’s looking at Yibo 🥹
But the 🍬 to beat ALL other candy is the video XZ dropped on Douyin after the event. Yibo left the venue early (supposedly he had to get back to his filming set - Baby had a LONG day with work in the early morning then prepping for and doing the show).
The post says something like “It happened that as Xiao Zhan walked in, light and darkness meets.” UM HELLO? Yes sir we DID see the two of you in black and white but thanks for hitting me over the head about it 😂
We got soft-focus Xiao Zhan walking around - a house? Hotel room? Like he’s waiting for someone… With the smooth r&b jazzy sounds of Aaron Taylor singing “I will leave the lights on until you get home” before the music transitions to something you keep on your “Sexy Alone Time with Bae” playlist…
YOU CAN NOT TELL ME ALL THIS WAS NOT PURPOSEFUL! Imagine your partner is working so hard, squeezes some time to be able to show up at the same event with you, then has to be right back at work… It’s a rough day for them🥺 Isn’t this just the type of sweet shout out you’d post if you lived in a world where you couldn’t shout it from the rooftops?? 🥹

Reading (into) the 4 photos from Milan
my cpn brain can't let go of the 4 photos from Milan.
Assuming each and all of them separately and together are a message, what do I infer/ read into them? Staying within my own lane/ bubble of interpretation and speculation.
First of all, the act of choosing certain photos is saying:
"I have my own perspective on this experience"
"I am the main agent in my life, not a passive recipient/ object of others' actions, I assert that I have choice, especially the choice how to respond"
The act of sharing/ making this visible publicly expands the target audience from "the one(s) who care(s) most and get(s) private communication" to "whoever may be concerned and able to understand", implying "I trust that I have friends among you even if we have never met / had connected; there are people who can understand, it is not all "like talking to deaf people", connection, belonging and understanding are possible; and as you care for me, I care for you"
The unifying theme of the whole series of 4 photos is "spacious/ space around me", as opposed to "mobbed/ constricted feeling"
the feeling of having space (especially internally) is one of the main signs of resilience
Also the direction of his gaze, implied by the photos he took and the photos of him, positioning the person in relation to what he sees:
"looking up/ at the awe-inspiring mysteries of nature (moon) and human creation (cathedral)"
It is known that awe and awe-inspiring sights like this one make the voice of one's personal "inner neurotic" quieten down; one's own fears, anxieties, annoyances, frustrations, feelings of helplessness and impasse, and other ruminations stop being so influential in the person's life
I can read it as "I have taken time to re-position myself in regard to the unpleasant experiences I've had recently and in regard to their psychological consequences"
possibly "I have touched base by making my own little pilgrimage to a place that holds sacred meaning to me"
"looking right in front of oneself, shoes show the seated position, and then the sunlit balcony floor"
I read this as "I pay attention to the immediacy of the moment, to relaxation, to small pleasures, not feeling rushed, and, specifically, _not on edge_"
"looking inward during twilight"
I read it as "I have space to think, in the time/space that exists between the daytime and the nighttime when I do not fully belong to myself because of the demands of work and the disappearance of the conscious mind during sleep"
"looking to the horizon during sunset"
I read it as "I orient myself in regard to my dreams and my memories, in regard to perspective, what is important to me and may be out of reach, but I do not forget or ignore it, or let go of it just because it is far"
together with the message in the clothes "when I choose what to wear to feel comfortable, this is what I choose", as opposed to, say, a combination of leather, low neckline and a leash-like necktie that sends a particular message in and of itself (but the king's eyes dare anybody to think him being a toy; anything can be worn in power, if there is power within).
I read it as "feeling comfortable, free, and myself"
together with the caption "plan to quit carbs: failed" the whole sequence of photos gives me the message: "I have prioritised my mental health, reasserted my agency and boosted my resilience in many ways available to me"
another message it gives is, of course, "wishing to share this with you", but who is the you — here the cpn brain offers the familiar interpretation. what we get is leftovers :)
the cpn brain also returns to the idea that staying not on the edge of the balcony, half-hanging over the railing in exhaustion, slumber or melancholy, but standing there or sitting at a distance from the edge, is itself a message to certain someone "I remember what you asked me not to do, please do not worry, I am being guai, thinking of you and taking care of myself properly"

Fake, fan fiction, CPN.
I just want to clarify that isn't quite what I said. What I said was:
... there's absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to question the veracity of candies or wanting to validate information. There's nothing wrong with thinking critically and trying to develop a greater degree of certainty or understanding around things. It is natural to not want to believe something until you have more information about it, and some people need more evidence than other people do before they accept an idea.
And
I am the sort of person who doesn't usually find candy sweet unless I feel there is evidence that it might be real.
And
... no matter how true or real something might feel to me, it is always just CPN until it is fully verified.
The core message I was trying to convey is that people should not treat candies as verified that are not verified, and people should not take my opinions as fact.
I was trying to illustrate the importance of remembering that CPN is CPN.
I often see turtles taking things literally, and ignoring the CPN label, and taking certain things as facts that are not facts. This is how the fandom becomes littered with misconceptions and misinterpretations, and how there ends up being so many opinions being treated as canon, and real.
This is why, for example, there are so many turtles who genuinely believe in the incredibly toxic notion that GG and DD are extremely jealous and possessive. Because people write fanfiction and fake rumors and hot takes about their behavior and others take it as fact and it gets spread around and becomes the widespread popular belief about them.
Not only is this type of thing inaccurate, it's downright harmful for these kinds of ideas to be spread about them. Not just harmful to GG and DD, but also to fans who develop the unhealthy idea that jealousy is romance. It puts people at risk of being abused. I talked about this in more detail a while back.
As far as verification is concerned, it's not that I don't believe candies that aren't verified, it is that I need more evidence than a lot of other people seem to need in order to be able to find a candy exciting. I need to feel that there is a likelihood that it is real. If I feel that a candy is unlikely to be true, I usually cannot find it sweet. Although there are some exceptions.
That is not the same as needing things to be verified. There are a lot of candies I enjoy that are total CPN, and anyway, our interpretation is always CPN.
And yes, some candies have been verified to some degree. The 49 fake candies being one of the biggest examples. When I first heard about them, I thought the claims about what happened on set were completely ridiculous. I ended up being proved wrong when the BTS footage came out.
Just because something has been claimed and some aspect of it has been proved true, that does not make the interpretation of it validated in any way. It is still CPN.
For example, while the rumor that GG called DD Venus in the Bazaar photo shoot ended up being true, our belief about why he did so is complete and total CPN.
One huge logical pitfall that I see a lot of fans falling into is the idea that because one thing has been proved true, that must lend more credibility to things that haven't yet been proved true.
I think we really need to be careful about drawing those kinds of conclusions. It might sound like it makes sense, but it is a huge logical leap to claim that something is more likely to be true just because other strange things have been proved true.
It becomes a huge slippery slope. It gets to the point where you can theorize about just about anything and make it sound possible, no matter how ridiculous. Always try to keep in mind how dangerous that can be. We should be careful to remember that these are real people whose lives and careers are to some degree impacted by our behavior.
We should try to show some restraint in this regard and remember that CPN is still and always just CPN, including the conclusions that we draw from what we see.
