Just wondering how any of this evidence could lead to JLS leaving Chicago PD in s10. Like I don’t understand. He’s been nothing but grateful & enjoyed every moment on set for the last 9 seasons and 187 episodes. His portrayal of Jay Halstead is something he loved/s doing for his job. Make it make sense @ NBC. ☹️🤔

Low Days
I’ve changed my format and things around cause I like it better that way :D
I think I’ll keep this font for different One Shots like this and keep the normal one for Halstead sister one shots.
I think I’ll be able to finish the day I start it as well. And sorry if there’s horrible grammar I wrote this on my phone😭
Word count:
Summary: Your Matt’s sister and There’s a hostage situation in the hosue
Warnings: Guns, Hostage situation, mentions of Hospitals, Mentions of death, seizures  Small Cursing ~and I think that’s all~
—————-———————————————————
Ever since you were young your older brother Matt has looked after you, along with the rest of the people at 51.
You never really minded staying at the house most of the day. Whenever you weren’t at school you were there and whenever you got off of school you were there.
Everyone spoiled you most of the time. Violet, Stella and Sylvie made sure to spend some girl time with you. Either going out for milkshakes or just talking about drama in or school or boys .And the others spent some time with you and they all were special to you in their own way.
Whenever the truck was gone Kelly, Herman or boden would watch you. If everyone had to go then they would take you with them and you would wait in the engine.
“Y/n have you done your homework?”  Your brother said. “Yeah I emailed my teacher that I finished it.” You were gone for about a week due to being sick. It was late October and of course it’s flu season so you were bound to get it.
Just then Matt’s phone went off. “Hey y/n go get something to eat or drink your sugar is low” your brother said as his phone lit up with a notification. Yeah you had type 1 diabetes, you got diagnosed at 10 after your sugar had dropped dramatically while everyone was on call and they had found you in the truck practically life less.
“Alright I’ll be right back-“ About 10 guys barged into the station holding guns screaming at everyone who was in their sight.
“EVERYBODY DOWN ON THE GROUND NOW. GET RID PF EVERYTHING, PHONES, WATCHES,ANYTHING YOU HAVE IN YOUR POCKETS” one of guys he looked like the leader.
Matt dragged you to the ground and pushed you towards everyone else who was in the main area where the trucks were ~idk what it’s called~
“Hey you put give me your phone now.” One of the guys spat at you. You shook your head in fear. Before he could lunge at you Kelly got in front of you. “She has diabetes she needs her phone.” Kelly spoke. “Diabetes are the least of her worries now. Hand it over.” Kelly and Matt gave you a look. You slid your phone across the floor. Matt read your face and could see that you were worried. “I promise I’ll your glucose meter” Matt reassured you.
***
4 hours, you add the crew have been held hostage for 4 hours now.  CPD has been trying to talk to the leader of this and he was finally arrested . The last number your blood sugar had been at was. 58 and you could tell it was dropping.
“Y/n I need you to stay awake for a little bit longer, okay?” Matt cooed. “Just a small nap” you leaned onto Kelly’s shoulder sleep pulling you in.
Sylvie had ran to your to your drawer that was in the office that contained all of your stuff and grabbed your glucagon and ran back to you.
“What’s her number?” Sylvie asked while opening the bright Red box. Kelly read your phone screen. “29 and it’s dropping.”
“Hey Y/n, I’m gonna test you alright?” Sylvie says. Before she could even test you, you started pulling away.
“She’s having a seizure, roll her on her side, Stella go get nasal spray from the cabinet inside the rig” Sylvie spoke fast and Stella nodded and ran quickly.
“You’re okay Y/n, you’re okay” Matt said.
“Does she need to go the hospital?” Jay walked over to everyone. “No, not unless her blood sugar goes down to where I can’t control it.  Stella returned with the nasal spray and Sylvie sprayed it into your nose.
As you stopped seizing, Matt immediately went by your side “see you’re all good now, we’re gonna make you feel better, then we can go wherever you like you just have to stay with me” Matt said as he rubbed your back.
“Truck 81, Ambo 16. Reports of child stuck on roof”
“Go, I’ll watch after her with them” Jay was like your brother, whenever you couldn’t make it to the station after school because it was snowing or too cold, you would be at the district and hang out with everyone there. Jay would make sure he would give you food, get your homework done, and would make sure your sugar didn’t get to low or high”
Matt have instructions right beofre he wa about to leave “If her sugar drops to 50 or below again after giving her the Glucagon take her-“ “to the hospital and she has another seizure take her to the hospital and keep her in her side. I know the drill man, I got her” Jay had been through this about Three or two times. “Thanks Jay”
***
Your eyes flutter open but you shut them again because of the bright lights overhead.  You soon adjusted to the light and realized you were on the couch in the break room. You looked around and saw Herman, Kelly and Jay talking together. What the hell happened?
“What the hell happened, where is everyone” You muttered. The three men immediately turned to you
“First of all language, second, your blood sugar dropped while we were in the whole hostage situation and you had a seizure” Kelly spoke
“What was it at?” You cried “29 was last I knew of” Jay picked his phone to see what your number were at now. “Atleast I got a new record” you dorsally celebrate. “I can see your humor hasn’t gone away” Herman laughed.
“Where’s Matt” Matt was usually with you after you had a low and you felt exhausted afterwards. “He’s on a call now everyone else should be back soon since it was something small”
“Can I have like pretzels or something I’m really hungry”You begged “you know the drill y/n you have to have something sweet that’s a drink or a snack.” Jay pointed out.  “well can I have Gatorade?” Gatorade was your all time favorite when you were low. “we’re out of Gatorade, since we didn’t go grocery shopping last week. But you can have apple juice” Kelly compromised“well not my favorite but I’ll take it”You shrugged
Kelly walks over to the fridge and retrieves your juice and hands to you. “I almost just died can someone help me open this”
“First of all, don’t say that because of a Matt was around he would freak and yes we’ll help you open it.” Jay laughs as he takes the box from you.
“I’m gonna take a nap, I’m exhausted from today” You pulled the blanket you had on closer. “Wake me if someone brings me food,I love food”
“Yes princess Y/n”
Surprise y’all I posted, apologies for not posting last month. Now I can get onto requests and my other one shot that only need about 200 more words and it’ll post.
Thank you so much for read and I love y’all

WITSEC Part 1: Got You - Will Halstead x Reader
Tumblr media
Hi guys! I finally caught up on Season 4 of Chicago Med and now I am starting series about the aftermath of Will’s time in WITSEC.
This is a Prequel to my Muffled Screams series.
Tagging: @daniacat   @misscharlielulu   @cosmic-psychickitty   @tonio-dawson     @brianbabygirlzvonecek   @afriendlyneighborhoodhufflepuff @ikbenplant     @gummybabey    @rosaliedepp    @annieradcliff   @mrspeacem1nusone   @sowrongitslottie   @readingbookelf    @earthtolottie   @crazy4chickennuggets   @cixrosie     @halsteadloversworld   @zaidatorcuatomorgado   @horny-and-sad27    @oneandonlychicago     @lxna-mikaelsxn   @1234-angelika   @wolfers-stuff      @directioner5life   @bradshawsdarlin
The tang of copper was in Will’s mouth, he could taste the blood on his tongue as he stared down at Tim’s body, his own chest heaving.
Tim, the guy he had known from around the block. Tim, the man he had grown up with, Tim who had forced a gun into his face, who had been about to pull the trigger.
His shirt clung to him, sticky with the other man’s life force. It was on his face, in his hair. He couldn’t breathe, he couldn’t fucking breathe. A hand enclosed on his shoulder, he jolted away, colliding with the wall before his gaze came to rest on you.
You were already holstering your gun. The letters CPD glaring white across your bulletproof vest, reflecting in the florescence high above you.
“Will.”
The way you said his name. It reminded him of late nights in your apartment, the scent of spring in his nose as he made love to you in the darkness. Stolen kisses and exploratory fingertips. His hands in your hair as he looked into your eyes and told you that he loved you, that he loved you more than life itself.
In that moment he forgot that the two of you had ended things, that he was supposed to be marrying another woman. He wanted to tell you, that it was you he had been thinking about when he stared down the barrel of Tim’s gun. Not Natalie.
His hands were in your hair again, his thumbs caressing the blush of your cheeks. He was trembling, his entire body vibrating as he clutched you close, inhaling the very essence of you. He knew that he was safe. That despite the fact he hadn’t laid eyes on you in two years, he was still stupidly, desperately in love with you.
“I got you.” You whisper as he chokes out a sob into your shoulder. It breaks your heart hearing that noise, knowing that his whole world is collapsing around his head. Your fingers comb through his unruly curls as he buries his face into the curve of your throat. You can feel his tears on your skin, hot and wet, bleeding into the collar of your shirt.
“Don’t worry Will.” You murmur into his hairline and holding him close. “I’ve got you.”
Big Fan of Will! Get added to his tag list!

Has no one on PD really had a good exit?
Not really, some exits I guess you could label as neutral, but no I wouldn’t call any of them good. At least not if we’re using good as a synonym for happy. Let’s break it down (including some major recurring guests).
Julie Willhite (season 1): Line of Duty Death
Mia Sumner (season 1): forcibly transferred, IAD mole
Sheldon Jin (season 1): Murdered
Nadia DeCotis (season 2): Murdered
Sean Roman (season 3): Injured Out, and didn’t think they'd be able to hack being a desk cop
Justin Voight (season 3): Murdered
Mouse Gerwitz (season 4): Returned to Army/failure to re-assimilate to civilian life
Antonio Dawson PT 1 (season 4): Transferred own volition (so it could have been seen as a good/happy one if Chicago Justice hadn’t been canceled)
Erin Lindsay (season 4): Transferred to FBI, but would have been fired from CPD if stayed and her mother would have gone to jail, so not much choice.
Alvin Olinsky (season 5): Murdered
Antonio Dawson PT 2 (season 6/7): Drug addiction, moved to Puerto Rico to be near his sister
Vanessa Rojas (season 7/8): Unknown. You can assume happy if you want, but there's no evidence of that.
Jay Halstead (season 10): Rejoined army in some capacity, felt as though needed to leave as he was losing himself
Now, this isn’t to say that the other shows don’t have their share of “bad” exits, either. Fire has had plenty of deaths, injured-out's and fired's. So has Med, who has also had more neutral exits. But they both also have happier wrap-ups interspersed though all that as well. PD really doesn’t.

Please help!!
TL;DR - I need help looking for a CPD episode scene where Al and Hank are too tired/old to be running after a guy but do it anyways - between seasons 1-4.
I am looking for an episode -
Voight and Olinsky went to this place (junk/scrap yard? Mechanic shop? Someplace junky) and they were looking for someone - that someone greeted them and said they would go get the person they were looking for (or the manager or something!)
Hank and Al talk about something in the meantime until they see the same guy start running. They both kind of look at one another with a look that says “aw man now we gotta chase him” (or maybe they say something to that effect to one another). Then, they chase him.
I can’t find this scene on Google or YouTube just by keywords. I am trying to find it for a friend who has only seen a few episodes. It is definitely in the earlier seasons - between 1 and 4 somewhere… Can someone please help! Short of scouring the footage, I have no real way of finding this scene and pinpointing the episode. If you know which one it is, please help!

TV Ratings, what they mean, and what about Chicago PD? Part 2.
Hi Everyone! Back here with more TV ratings info for you all. This is a continuation of part one.
How are ratings determined?
As I mentioned in part 1, viewership is tracked via statistical sampling. Have you ever heard of people being “Nielsen families”. That’s still a thing. A small relative sample of people agree to record all of their viewing habits daily and then that is extrapolated over the total TV population to determine ratings and over the total estimated people watching TV to determine share. Want to know more about these families click here!
How to read ratings:
Sigh, it’s complicated to say the least but I will try to simplify as much as I can. At the end of the day, ratings are currency and there are many many ways to read them. You can read them both in context and out of context.
Out of context:
This is basically just looking at one show’s numbers week on week or year on year, at how many “viewers” they have had. The challenge here is that this is, by definition, out of context. A show could be gaining viewers but so could overall tv, or the time slot, and if they are gaining that does not necessarily mean they are winning. The opposite is also true.
In Context:
There are many ways to read ratings in context. This could be by night, by time slot, or by demo, by network, etc. This essentially shows how an episode does relative to these other factors, so…in context. In addition, when ratings are looked at at the beginning of the year for the coming advertising year, you also need to take into account total linear and total video viewing trends. If the pie is shrinking (and for linear tv it is), you can’t simply compare YOY absolute viewership.
What type of TV is Chicago PD
CPD is a network primetime show.
The media lingo for TV is super complex but in its simplest terms you can think of TV as linear (on a television set over the airwaves when it airs) or Streaming (subscription services like Netflix are an example, but there is also free streaming that is ad-supported).
Regular linear TV can be broadcast or cable, and can be prime time or non prime.
By all accounts in the linear TV world broadcast prime is generally the most expensive for advertisers (outside of prime sports like the superbowl) because of high viewership.
Chicago PD Example:
The chart here below shows CPD’s absolute viewership extrapolations and ratings in the key demo for this season (note that the first comparison on viewers is vs. last season’s premiere):
Tumblr media
Of course the above is out of context because we don’t see how these compare to other shows on that night. For lots of context there are some awesome graphs here from ep 10x09.
By all accounts, Chicago PD is a Wednesday night powerhouse, handsomely winning the time slot but also showing strong performance in the demo for the night (not easy to do as a 10pm show).
But total viewers are down!
Yes but you can’t compare YOY viewers and make it accurate without doing some math.
Despite what Netflix might want advertisers to think, linear TV is still the dominant form of TV viewing, that said, it has been declining YOY as people shift to streaming. So that means the whole pie has gotten smaller so of course even if you have the same share your total viewers will decline.
Did viewers tank after Jesse’s exit?
Well out of context, it looks like there was a big decline in absolute viewership but you can’t look at stuff out of context. That night was also a world series game. People were tired, survivor was also on. As much as we love him, the absolute decline had nothing to do with him and in context absolute viewers when there are not major sport events have remained stable this season.
What about vs. all shows out there?
See below for the 2021-2022 season chart. Now this was total season ending so does not account for season 10 (which will be the 2022-2023 season).
Yellowstone crushed it and continues to absolutely smash ratings. This is Us had a strong final season. And look who’s after that….
Tumblr media
Does this mean there is no way this show or any show will be cancelled? No.
To be clear network broadcast shows are still challenged by the overall landscape factors of overall viewership decline.
What does this specifically mean for shows like CPD? How do advertisers choose which shows to invest in? How does the money flow? Does one (or two or ten) actor’s salary have an impact on any of it? What are network’s obligations to advertisers and what if they fall short? Stay tuned for part 3!

Do you think the Upstead goodbye was written intentionally? Do you think the dialogue was intentional so they can bring it up again later on? I know it's a hard time to have hope for our favorite ship, but I feel like a lot of scenes in 10x03 were written intentionally for the future. Jay saying that Hailey is the love of his life, and promising her that they will get through this. Chief giving Jay one year to come back and continue at CPD. Rewatching all those scenes gives me hope that Upstead will get the happy ending they deserve.
I 100% can't tell at this point, but I sure hope so.
The way they wrote 10x03 certainly does not lend itself to everything they have written since. While I hope there is a plan to bring it all around for a happy ending, now I fear they are (1) running out of time in the season and (2) have made the "angst" so extreme that any ending they give will feel unsubstantiated and rushed with the time they have left.
I hope they have a plan, and I hope this plan is actually true to character and the 10x03 scene, but I also acknowledge that they can just as easily go the other way with this.

Chicago Justice Season 1 Ep. 8 "Lily's Law"
Tumblr media
After a guilty verdict is delivered, a juror in the case is found dead in a lake. The team investigates and finds out that she committed suicide due to being cyberstalked and heavily harassed. Stone does everything in his power to bring the responsible person to justice.
If you want to watch the series for yourself, stop reading! This post contains spoilers to the storyline.
Lily Spencer is expressing her exhaustion after five weeks of trial and now facing the pressure of jury deliberations. Peter Stone objects to starting deliberations over again, but the judge reminds them that serving on a jury is a duty, not a vacation. The defendant was found guilty by the jury and will be remanded until sentencing. After the court adjourns, Lily runs out of the jury box.
At a bar, Anna Valdez asks Stone about the wall in the office that displays clothing. Stone explains that when an ASA wins their first trial, a piece of their clothing is hung on the wall. She laughs at his bow tie. Stone receives a call to go to a crime scene.
Laura Nagel and Antonio Dawson reveal that Lily Spencer was found in the water with the summons for jury duty in her wallet. There are no visible bruises, and it appears she was dumped in the water while still alive. Stone kneels beside her corpse and says, "Maybe I should have let you go."
Tumblr media
Stone meets with Mark Jefferies at the ASA office. Jefferies warns that if jurors are being killed, they will never see another jury. Stone suggests bringing in CPD's Sergeant Hank Voight, but Jefferies wants him to lead the investigation. He also orders unmarked police cars to follow the other jurors until they solve the case.
Antonio and Laura visit Santiago Mendoza, the defendant's brother. After Antonio unplugs his saw, he informs them that Miguel Lopez is a sick person. They should investigate him because he went to extreme measures to ensure his brother, Ricardo, didn't testify against them at trial.
Miguel flees when Antonio arrives to see him. Antonio chases him, while Laura follows in their vehicle. They handcuff him and question him about threatening Mrs. Mendoza. When they show him a photo of Lily, he recognizes her as the juror.
Tumblr media
During a conversation with Antonio and Laura, Mr. Evans admits to consoling Lily during an argument in the parking lot. When Laura informs him of Lily's death, he immediately blames the punk kids. Despite his fear as the foreman of the jury, Antonio assures him that protection is already in place. According to Santiago, Lily was becoming increasingly agitated by her text messages. When they were asked to turn off their phones, Lily insisted on keeping hers on, claiming that there would be consequences if she didn't. Although he believed it was a private matter, it clearly was not. The final message read, "It's either the jury or your kid. Last chance!"
Antonio and Laura visit Jaxson Clark, with whom she shares a child. He learns that Lily passed away two days prior and he mentions they were the ones who coerced her into serving on the jury. Jaxson Clark asks if they have the guy in custody. Laura wonders why he didn't find it strange that he didn't receive a text from her in two days. He acknowledges that the text may have sounded bad, but they must understand that he is also busy and tired of explaining to his child, Sam, what jury duty entails. They find out that Jaxson has a boat and that he took it out two nights ago. Laura retrieves a hoodie from the boat and discovers that the keys in the pocket belong to Lily.
The keys are used to search Lily's apartment. Laura quickly finds a photo that proves the hoodie belongs to Sam. Antonio finds an eviction notice dated for the night Lily was killed.
Tumblr media
According to the manager, Lily was his favourite tenant, and the owners were evicting her because she was three months behind in rent. She only got the place because her sister, Sarah, co-signed.
Sarah's wife reveals that Sarah passed away three months ago. She promised to take care of Lily, who used to be an assistant professor until Jaxson Clark came into her life. She shares stories of visiting Jaxson and Lily. He was very controlling and refused to let her work while they were together. They learned that Jaxson was stalking her, and the last time he did so was just before the trial by the river where they scattered Sarah's ashes.
Tumblr media
Antonio and Laura walk along the riverside, but no one seems to have seen anything. They come across a fraternity that dresses up, drinks and runs while recording everything they do. In one of the videos, Laura and Stone watch as Lily takes a couple of steps and jumps into the freezing river, ultimately killing herself.
The next day, Anna informs Stone that the ME's report concluded that Lily drowned, with her lungs filled with river water and no signs of bruising. Stone is left wondering how Lily managed to duct tape her own hands and is eager to find any evidence to charge Jaxson Clark with stalking her.
Tumblr media
Anna commented that if she had an ex who took her to court as often as Jaxson did to Lily, she might consider drastic measures herself. Laura is furious because she feels Jaxson didn't even want the child, but he did it only so Lily didn't have him. He even filed five motions of abuse against her. Antonio said he will talk to Sam, while Laura goes to DCFS.
DCFS worker Chad Parker tells Laura that Lily is a good mother, but he cannot ignore complaints because it is his job to protect the child. He explains that during a safety check, Lily had a cast on her arm and claimed she had fallen down the stairs. Although he has no evidence that Jaxson caused the injury, he knows that Jaxson wanted full custody and Lily was not willing to give him up. Laura suggests that he should have taken action.
Laura vents to Anna about her situation with DCFS. Anna advises against marriage. Anna prioritizes a husband over having kids, surprising Laura. They drive tho Chicago Med.
Antonio wants to talk to Sam. Sam's dad is late as usual. Antonio asks Sam if his mother ever hit him, but before Sam can answer, Jaxson arrives and roughly grabs Sam, causing Antonio to react. Antonio drops Jaxson to the ground with his arm behind his back after Jaxson shoves him. Sam pleads with Antonio to stop.
At Chicago Med, they discover that Lily had drugs in her system and was fortunate that someone called 911 when they did. The nurse explains that Lily was pretty doped up and probably broke her arm falling out of the bath, but luckily, that was the only injury she sustained.
Anna returns to the office and shows Stone the information she gathered. She is visibly upset, stating that she feels harassed, and possibly even stalked. Stone wonders if Jaxson knew about her first suicide attempt. Anna believes that Jaxson's behaviour is unacceptable and that there are laws against stalking and harassment for a reason.
Laura and Antonio return to Jaxson's workplace to arrest him. He is very confident, telling his assistant that he will be back within the hour. At the ASA office, Jaxson's attorney, Miranda, jokes that she has discovered great restaurants through Jaxson's app and cannot have him sent to prison. Jaxson requests a find and the opportunity to return home to his child. He presents a video of Antonio forcing him to the ground, which appears to be an act of brutality. Stone suggests him to put the phone away. Stone offers Jaxson a plea deal of two years and anger management classes. Anna mentions the 1500 harassing and threatening texts in just three months. The person responsible denies fault for Lily's eventual suicide and even made fun of her. Stone reminds Jaxson that they should have taken the two-year sentence and now they are being charged with Lily's murder.
Jefferies asks Stone if he is out of his mind. Stone admits he is pushing it, but he believes he is the direct cause of her death. He knew she was suicidal, and it was like knowing she opened the exploding letter. Stone clarifies that he is not writing new law, he is just stretching the old ones.
Tumblr media
During the court proceedings, Stone presents an expert who testifies that emotional abuse could directly cause suicide. During the questioning by Jaxson's lawyer, the expert witness stated that Lily's suicide could have been caused by various factors in her life, and she could not definitively attribute it to Jaxson's behaviour.
Tumblr media
Later, Grace Kelman, the widow of Sarah, testified that Jaxson was responsible for Lily's first suicide attempt and had made derogatory comments about those who cannot even kill themselves. Lily sent a text to Grace, stating that she would not be able to continue living if her sister passed away.
Stone and Jefferies exit the office, with Stone expressing concern about the upcoming testimony of 9-year-old Sam. Despite not having complete legal support, Stone believes the jury is on his side. Jefferies advises him to be gentle with Sam.
During the court hearing, Sam showed a scar on his body and explained that it was caused by an incident at his father's house. However, his father prevented him from contacting his mother, claiming that she did not pay the phone bill. Sam constantly looked at his father when answering questions. Stone urged him to continue, and Sam mentioned that he did not have to pay for Snapchat. Miranda attempted to halt the questioning but her previous actions had already allowed the court to view Sam's phone. Sam was recorded screaming about how horrible his mother was and expressing a desire to live with his father. Although his father was present during the recording, Sam later admitted that he did not mean what he said. Stone stands between Sam and his father, obscuring Sam's view of him. Upon rewinding the video, Stone notices that Sam's arms were down at his side, Stone reassures Sam that he is not in trouble, but asks him to identify who was holding the phone. Sam breaks down and admits that his father forced him to send it, even though he didn't want to. He cries and asks if he is responsible for his mother's death. Stone reassures him that it is not his fault.
Jaxson Clark has been found guilty of murder. However, the judge stopped and accused the jury of making an emotional decision. Stone objected, but the judge told him to sit down. The judge stated that the jury ignored her instructions and forced her to disregard their decision. She explained that the prosecution failed to prove that Jaxson knew his actions would result in Lily's death. Therefore, she set aside the verdict and dismissed the jury. Jaxson appeared pleased, while Anna was furious.
Tumblr media
Stone is upset that Jaxson is getting a free pass. He recalls a similar situation with a college friend where he failed to act. He stands up and declares that laws must change. Jefferies challenges him to make the change.
Stone meets with senators to discuss the Illinois murder statute, specifically regarding emotional abuse leading to suicide. He also discusses the case of Lily Spencer. After the meeting, he visits Cora, his college friend from years ago, to apologize. She invites him insde.

Episode 4: A Place To Stay
Tumblr media
Sergeant Hank Voight x Abigail Barlowe (asian ofc)
Summary: Sergeant Voight discovers Abigail is sleeping at the precinct, so he offers her a place to stay.
Warnings: a drug bust, mention of murder.
Wordcount: 4.1k
Masterlist // fearless masterlist // season 1 masterlist
‘Question,’ I say, when I’m sitting in front of Johnston at the cafe. It’s our day off and we’ve decided that spending a day partially together would be good for our relationship. We’ve been partners for years and now we’re apart a lot. It felt wrong not to see each other on a daily basis like we were so used to.
Besides, his wife Elizabeth needed a break from him, so I took over Johnston baby sit duty like I had done so many times in the past.
‘I know you were involved with Elizabeth when you started working at the police force, but if you weren’t, would you ever have considered dating someone within the force?’
Johnston looks up from his coffee, cocking an eyebrow in the process. ‘You were eyeballing me, Barlowe?’
I kick his shin underneath the table, causing him to wince. ‘A partner, you dummy. Not me. A.’ I shoot him a dangerous glare. ‘Just answer the damn question.’
He leans back, his fingers toying with the handle of the cup. ‘I don’t know. It’s of course how you meet people and they understand you and the job well, but it also means you take your job home with you.’ He smirks. ‘What’s up, Abigail? You got a boy you like in your unit.’
‘No,’ I say. ‘I was just wondering.’ I take a sip of my cappuccino, already hating myself for bringing up the conversation.
‘Ah, little Abigail Barlowe has a crush. Tell me who it is.’
‘I do not have a crush,’ I say, though that is a lie.
Johnston obviously pokes right through it. ‘It’s Antonio, am I right? He’s a pretty boy.’
I now sorta wish it was Antonio now, because that would’ve been less weird than the truth.  I could say yes, but then he’ll taunt me for a crush that is fake and will try to play matchmaker, especially because he and Antonio hang out at Molly’s a lot and Antonio is recently divorced.
I decide to just continue on with my ‘I don’t have a crush’-lie.
‘I’m not interested in anyone of my unit or the entirety of the CPD for that matter. Besides, even if I had a crush, I wouldn’t tell you.’
Johnston tilts his head, narrowing his dark brown eyes. ‘Wait a damn minute, I think I know.’
I scoff. ‘Yeah sure.’
‘You’re crushing on your sergeant.’
How the fuck did he draw that conclusion. I hate how he’s right, but I’m not going down that easy. ‘What? No, Johnston, that’s ridiculous!’ I say.
After I broke up with my ex-boyfriend Nelson, I hadn’t even considered falling for someone again, let alone dating. But now, a month after the Felice Geralds case and its aftermath, it has been impossible for me to forget about Sergeant Hank Voight.
After I bared my soul to him, told him about Jolie, he has been tender and kind to me. Not in a patronizing way, more like in a supportive way.
Everything he does, is only adding more fire to the infatuation I am currently experiencing. It’s been so long since I felt like this. I always thought that having crush again would be me betraying on Jolie, but I realize that I can be happy. I can fall in love again without feeling guilty.
But I can’t fall in love with the sergeant. It’s wrong.
It’s just so hard when he is him. Every time I’m determined to not fall for him, he does something that swoops me off my feet.
Getting a beer for me too, double checking with me before we do something at work and giving me nods and tiny smiles of amusement. The other day he wanted me as a back up when he met someone who could give us a lead.
It was great to be around him so much, to learn from him.
To have more reasons to fall for him.
‘That I live long enough to witness you have a crush on someone and then you pick someone,’ Johnston laughs.
He is having way too much fun with this. ‘Shut up,’ I say. ‘It’s just a silly crush. It’ll die down eventually.’
Even if it’ll die down if you have to believe me, he is curious. ‘When did it start?’ Johnston asks.
‘A month ago or so,’ I say, realizing that shutting up about it, isn’t going to work with Tyrell Johnston. He will get his information, so I decide to just put all my cards on the table. ‘After the Felice Geralds case. I… I told him everything about Jolie.’
‘You did?’ he asks, visibly confused. He knows how hard it can be for me to share it. It took him a whole year before I told him about it.
I nod. ‘I felt so safe sharing it with him and now… I feel horrible and giddy about having a crush again.’
‘Giddy I understand, but how is it horrible?’
‘I am not on top of my game. I stuttered the other day and weirded everyone out. The only thing that saved my ass, was claiming I just had a low blood sugar and felt dizzy. But I’m not sure if I can continue to milk that lie out.’
Johnston laughs. ‘I would’ve paid good money to see you stutter and stammer like that.’
‘It’s hard, okay,’ I say, trying to be mad, but I can’t stop my chuckle. ‘It’s not helping at all I’m non stop dreaming about him.’
His expression falters. ‘I don’t need to know that.’
‘Oh shut up, it’s PG friendly,’ I tell him. ‘Besides, I’m not going to do anything about it, because it’s weird. Dating your co-worker is probably a terrible idea already, but dating your sergeant? That is batshit crazy.’
He snickers. ‘Stuttering is too.’
I grab my unopened bag of sugar and throw it in his face. ‘No wonder your wife didn’t wanna have you around. You’re annoying as shit.’
He grabs the bag of sugar and says: ‘Abigail, I think it’s absolutely darling to see you have a little crush.’
‘Shut up.’
He laughs. ‘You turn quite adorable.’
‘I told you to shut up.’
I take a sip of my coffee after I stole his cookie, because I think I deserve it.
‘Okay, don’t freak out,’ Johnston says, ‘but your sergeant just walked in.’
‘Very funny,’ I grumble.
‘No, I’m serious.’
And judging from his expression, he is serious. I look over my shoulder, only to see my sergeant indeed walk in. He must notice I’m gawking at him, because when his eyes land on me, he holds up his hand, offering me a friendly tightlipped smile.
I hold up my hand. ‘Maybe joining Intelligence was a mistake,’ I say, when I turn around again. ‘Then you and I would still be patrolling together and I wouldn’t have a crush on him, meaning I wouldn’t hopelessly embarrass myself.’
‘Okay, miss valedictorian of the University of over exaggerating,’ he hisses. ‘Just get your act together and be cool, okay? He’s coming over.’
Here I am: already in thirty years of age and yet I am a nervous wreck because I have a little crush. I work with this man for fuck’s sake. I managed to have it semi under control usually, however since Johnston knows about my little secret, there is a chance he’ll expose me in a heartbeat.
‘Morning sarge,’ Johnston says.
‘Morning sir,’ I say, when I look up.
He’s wearing his infamous green leather jacket and has a coffee to go in hand. ‘Morning officers,’ he says. ‘You’re up early.’
‘I’m on Tyrell Johnston babysit duty,’ I say and I applaud myself for sounding normal.
‘She and my wife are conspiring against me,’ Johnston chuckles. ‘Can’t you arrest them? It’s basically harassment.’
Voight smirks. ‘Nah, bet you did something to deserve it.’
‘Ouch,’ Johnston notes.
‘Well, rest up well,’ Voight tells me, as he places his hand on my shoulder.
Abigail, whatever you do, do not faint. Please, for your own dignity, keep it together. ‘Will do, sarge.’
‘And be tough, but righteous as a Johnston baby-sitter, ‘kay?’
‘Copy that,’ I chuckle, slightly nervously.
He squeeze my shoulder, before he takes off.
I only take a breath once he’s out of the cafe. I look at Johnston, who has his eyebrows raised. ‘I’ve got the crush under control,’ I tell him.
‘Sure,’ he says, however it’s clear he does not believe me. ‘May I—a complete outsider—speak freely?’
‘You may not.’
‘But I will,’ he continues imperturbably. ‘If I didn’t know any better, I’d say he liked you back.’
‘Shut up,’ I say. ‘Or I’ll skip the righteous part and just be tough on you.’
He holds up his hands. ‘I’ll shut up,’ he chuckles. ‘Just wanted to share my two pieces, that’s all.’
✧*̥˚🔎🔎🔎 *̥˚✧
I’d like to think I have my crush under control, but then Voight would compliment me, squeeze my shoulder or push me behind him when we were going inside a house. It were the little things that made my heart go in overdrive. It were those things that made it impossible for me to forget about my crush.
Thankfully, now I can focus on my first undercover job as an officer.
‘Remember,’ Antonio says to me, ‘look innocent.’
‘I am innocent,’ I retort.
He chuckles. ‘Okay,’ he says, before exchanging a certain look with Ruzek, who starts to laugh as well.
I smack Antonio’s shoulder. ‘I am innocent.’
‘A little less attitude, a little more doe eyes, ‘kay?’
As Antonio checks with Ruzek if the audio and camera work on my necklace, I say: ‘This better, mister Dawson?’ I bat my eyelashes and smile in a pure and almost gullible way.
‘Lovely,’ Antonio jokes, squeezing my cheek. ‘You know the drill: say ‘crazy’ or switch your purse from your right to left shoulder.’
‘You told me that five times, already. You think I’m dumb?’
‘Doe eyes, princess,’ he reminds me and I once again slap his shoulder.
The thing with this undercover deal, is that I have to appear like a college girl, who—for the first time in her life—is going to buy some drugs. I cannot believe I have to pretend like I’m so naive.
I also can’t believe I actually managed to pull of looking like I’m ten years younger than I originally am, but I think I’ve got to thank my father’s DNA, for barely standing at 5’2.
I walk around the corner and make my way over to the guy standing near it, as he leans against the wall. Only thing I need to do, is get that deal. That is all.
While it sounds easy… It’s just that I’m wearing loafers, paired with socks with a laced hem and a plaid dress. The outfit per se isn’t terrible, but I have two braids in my long curly hair.
I look like everyone’s farmer girl fantasy.
‘LT?’ I ask, causing the man to shush me.
‘Quiet,’ he hisses.
‘Sorry,’ I whisper, before cleaning my throat. ‘You got it?’
The man with orbs as dark as night, stares at me, before a smirk appears on his face. ‘I’ve got it,’ he says, his tone a little friendlier now. ‘First time buying?’
I nervously move my legs. ‘That obvious?’ I whisper, adding a nervous chuckle to it. ‘I…’ I search in my purse and pull out two fifty bills. ‘A hundred right?’
The man still smirks, but it appears he is actually pitying me. It means I’m doing my job well. ‘Yeah, but. because you’re a newbie, I’ll give you a little extra. How about that?’
‘Really?’ I ask with a smile. We exchange the money for the bag of coke. ‘Is it too much for me to hug you now?’
‘Easy there, sugar,’ LT says. ‘I’m a married man.’
Yeah, I know. ‘Right,’ I say, pushing the evidence in my bag. ‘You want to hear something crazy?’
And it’s at that moment, my colleagues come barging in from all different places. ‘Chicago PD!’ I hear, together with some other comments.
As LT is pressed against the wall, he looks at me and screams: ‘You bitch!’
I flash him a smile, a lot less gullible, a lot more vicious. ‘Oh LT, bless your heart.’
✧*̥˚🔎🔎🔎 *̥˚✧
Something not even Johnston knows, is that I’ve been sleeping at the precinct for three days now. It’s terrible, but everything is better than staying at home. The place I so loved is now empty. Everything I own is now stored in a storage unit and I go there from time to time to exchange some clothes and what not.
I don’t want to tell anyone, because I don’t want them to worry. I can’t have Johnston worry about me, my team worry about me.
‘Why aren’t you going home?’ Voight asks, as I’m still in the bullpen.
‘I’m good,’ I answer, shutting down my computer.
‘That wasn’t the question.’
Fuck, I forget sometimes evading questions in a place like this, is really never ever going to work.
‘I can’t go home,’ I tell him in all honesty. ‘I sold my place.’
He appears visibly confused as to why on earth I would do that. ‘Why?’
‘My ex… Nelson… He’s on parole.’
‘What?’ he asks, his voice a little more annoyed and sharper. He rubs his face and places his hands on my desk, leaning over a bit. ‘But why have you sold your home?’
‘I’m afraid he’ll come after me,’ I admit. ‘I know I shouldn’t be scared… It’s just… I don’t know, terrible memories I guess.’
He nods. ‘That’s your stuff?’ he asks, nodding over to the bag next to my desk.
‘The stuff I have on me, yes. The rest is all in a storage unit.’
Voight takes in all the information I’ve provided him in the span of the last thirty seconds. He stands up straight and says: ‘Come on.’
‘Come on what?’
‘Get your stuff. You’re coming with me.’
This is totally not helping with my crush. ‘Seriously?’
‘You can’t think I’m leaving you here,’ he says and it would’ve been weird if I even thought that for a second. ‘I’ve got plenty of rooms. Come on.’
It took me around two whole seconds before I could respond. I don’t want to sound brainless by asking ‘Really?’, so I nod and stand up, grabbing my bag after I close off.
The car drive to his place go by in silence. Sure, I want to talk, but I barely trust my own voice enough to say something out loud, let alone to form a coherent sentence. But I look to the side from time to time, to see him staring at the road, the dim lighting of the street lights highlighting his fatigue.
His place looks like a home. It has pictures on the wall, of his late wife and son, his grandson even and a few pictures of his closest friends, which aren’t many. With my bag in his hand, he leads me to the guest room and places it on the floor.
‘We can get your other stuff tomorrow,’ he tells me.
‘Oh no, I’m fine.’
‘You’re not going to live like that,’ Voight says and the tone leaves no room for discussion. ‘I can’t believe I didn’t realize it sooner.’
‘I was a little bit better at hiding it.’ I look around the empty room and say: ‘Thank you for allowing me to stay here. I promise I won’t be an inconvenience, sarge.’
‘When we’re outside the precinct and we’re here, it’s Hank,’ he says. ‘And that’s an order.’
‘Yes Hank,’ I say, which feels so much more intimate. ‘I really appreciate it.’ The confession is soft, almost like I’m afraid he’ll hear it.
But he heard. ‘Of course. Come on, I’ll show you the rest.’
The rest entails the bathroom I can use, the kitchen and the living room. I walk over to the wall of pictures and now am able to get a better look at it.
My eyes land on a picture of him and his late wife Camille. He mentioned her a few times, but I never saw a picture of her. She smiles widely on the picture and I see Vo— I mean Hank looking happy as well.
It’s dreadful to see the people he lost in his life.
I lean over to see a picture of him, Justin and his wife Olive, together with their son Daniel. It wouldn’t surprise me if this was the last time he was truly happy.
‘Want something to drink?’ Hank asks from the kitchen.
‘Yeah,’ I say, as I make my way back to the kitchen.
‘Scotch?’
‘Sure, why not.’ I take the class from his hands. ‘Guess we’re roommates now.’
He smiles. ‘I guess so.’
As the two of us lean against the counter with our hips, we drink in silence.
‘Have you ever taken the pictures of Camille and Justin down?’ I carefully ask. ‘After they passed?’
He shakes his head. ‘No, it’s good to have them around. What about Jolie’s pictures? You ever took them down?’
Hearing him say her name, it makes me feel like I’m still a mother, instead of a woman who lost her child a long time ago. ‘I’ve taken them down,’ I admit. ‘It took me four years to put them back up.’
He nods. ‘I understand. If you want, you can put them up. It’s your place too now.’
I can’t help but laugh. ‘You’re taking us being roommates very seriously. I’ve been here for what? Ten minutes or so?’
‘Just know it’s your place too, okay? Make yourself comfortable and make it yours.’
I smile. ‘Okay,’ I say. ‘I’ll do that.’ But my smile fades from my lips as fast as it was painted on.
‘Why are you afraid of Nelson?’ he then asks.
‘I’m afraid he might hurt me too,’ I quietly admit. ‘I’m afraid that one day, he’ll make his way into my house and I won’t hear him and he’ll kill me.’ I look up. ‘It’s just very hard to believe he is… On parole.’
Hank nods, placing a comforting hand on my upper arm. ‘Nothing will happen to you,’ he says. ‘Not on my watch.’
‘I know,’ I say. ‘I’m just glad I’m not alone now.’ I place the empty glass on the counter and run my fingers through my hair. ‘I think I’m going to head off to bed,’ I tell him. ‘It’s been a very long day.’
‘Yeah of course.’
Before I can peel myself away from the kitchen and actually head upstairs, I wrap my arms around his shoulders. At first he’s a bit unsure why I’m hugging him, but then he snakes his arm around my waist, pulling me closer to his protective frame. I close my eyes as I allow myself being engulfed in this tight embrace.
I pull back and whisper: ‘Sorry.’
‘Don’t be.’
Our eyes meet and I bite my bottom lip as I take in his face. I try to memorize every bit of him. Apparently I’m attempting to rip off some dry skin of my lip, but he places his hand on my cheek, his thumb gently tugging at my bottom lip. ‘Don’t do that,’ he whispers, his tone even hoarser and raspier than other times.
His hand is calloused and I sharply take a breath. ‘Sorry,’ I whisper again, his thumb still grazing over my lips.
We don’t say anything to each other, but who needs words anyway when it’s so obvious what is happening between us? We could let go of one another, but we both don’t do it. His eyes meet mine and all I can think about is how beautiful his light brown orbs are.
And I don’t think. I just do. I bridge the distance between us, allowing my lips to fall on his. It doesn’t last long, probably around a second, if not two. But then I realize what I am doing.
So much for ignoring the crush.
I’m kissing my sergeant. My fucking boss. This is terrible.
‘I’m so sorry,’ I stammer. ‘I’m terribly sorry. I don’t know why I did that.’
I want to pull back, but he doesn’t allow it. He shakes his head, before answering the previous kiss with one that fits his style more and in all honesty, mine too. It’s not a short peck. It’s rough, but with a tender streak to it. I melt against his frame, as we open our mouths to deepen the kiss, allowing me to taste the scotch we just had.
I wish this could last an eternity, because I realize the second I let go, the second I’m back in reality, I have to face the consequences of what we just did.
And I am not ready for it.
I pull back, our lips parting and they’re still buzzing. I can see a very faint pink blush on his cheeks.
‘I’m going to bed,’ I say.
Hank nods.
‘I’ll see you tomorrow,’ I then say. I make my way upstairs, my heart pounding in my throat.
What the fuck just happened?
✧*̥˚🔎🔎🔎 *̥˚✧
The next morning I try to avoid Hank as much as possible. I’m succeeding, because we have separate bathrooms and our respective bedrooms are apart from one another. But now I am totally ready for today, clothed in a pair of straight jeans, white sneakers and a long sleeved t-shirt. My hair up in a loose ponytail, a few curls slipped out of the hairband and framing my face.
I walk downstairs and see Hank is preparing breakfast.
So much for pretending nothing happened, when someone literally is preparing breakfast. That is next level domestic couple behavior, right?
I see toast, boiled eggs and coffee and a whole lot of bread spreads. Gosh, he really is going for it.
‘Good morning,’ I say to announce myself.
‘Morning.’
Hank Voight had a hot voice in general, but to hear the last remains of his morning voice is even better. Imagine when he just wakes up and he tells you goodmo—
Okay, stop. Do not continue that thought!
‘Take a seat,’ he tells me.
‘You didn’t have to prepare breakfast,’ I say. ‘I’m a very easy guest.’
The fact he’s ignoring me, is a clear indication he is going to prepare breakfast from now on and me being an easy guest will not change that. He pours in two cups of coffee and places them in between us. ‘Here you go,’ he says.
‘Thank you.’
It stays silent between the two of us and I don’t want to break it, but neither do I want to keep quiet about it. ‘About last night,’ I finally manage to choke out. ‘I’m sorry if I crossed the line.’
‘You didn’t,’ he tells me. ‘Don’t you worry about it.’
That’s it? ‘Okay?’
He sighs. ‘It takes two,’ he says.
‘Yeah, I don’t know what to do with that,’ I say.
And then he does it: reaching over the table to place his hand on mine. ‘Was it really that bad?’
‘The kiss was great, but the circumstances aren’t.’
‘And if the circumstances weren’t here.’
I let out a smile. ‘Then I would’ve kissed you again.’
He takes a sip of his coffee. ‘Good to know.’
Really, that’s all he’s gonna give me? Okay, I’ve got this. If I’m correct—and I suspect that I am—he isn’t opposed to us kissing, which is a good sign.
We eat in silence and he says: ‘I’ve got to make one call and then we’ll go, okay?’
‘Sure,’ I say with a smile. ‘I’ll go clean up.’ He wants to fight me on this one, but I hold up my finger. ‘I can do it.’
He nods with a smirk. ‘Alright.’ He walks around the table and gives me a kiss on my lips. ‘Be right back.’
When he walks out of the room, I place my hands over my mouth so the loud and high pitched squeal won’t escape. I nearly jump up, when my phone beeps.
Disgusting Johnston: How’s the crush going?
Yeah, about that… Gosh, this is terrible. I’m out here, kissing my sergeant, knowing damn well I can’t say this to anyone.
Ever.
Abigail: Conceal, don’t feel, don’t let them know 🎶
Disgusting Johnston: Good, because I thought about it
Abigail: Meaning you discussed it with Elizabeth
Disgusting Johnston: And dating within the department is a bad idea
Disgusting Johnston: Especially if there’s a sergeant involved
I hate how he is right, but I decide to not say anything about this. At least, not yet.
Abigail: I know that
Abigail: I’ve got this, honey bear
Disgusting Johnston: I know you do 😘

hi! top 5 Kim quotes
Oof Lexi, you know how to ask the difficult questions! (Also hey!)
I'd probably be able to answer this a lot better in a few weeks as I'm about to do a whole rewatch of all of cpd (probably would've started it sooner but I needed to sunbathe more than seeing baby burzek being all insecure and cute) and a lot of stuff I was able to quote of the top of my head from older seasons are a lot more faded in my mind.
Which tbf I don't mind since these later seasons have so much better Kim quotes, but it does mean I have a lack of diversity in seasons and that these are going to be burzek heavy (which IS very on brand for me so!) But even so, I did struggle a lot to keep this down to just five!
1. Kim telling Adam she believes in him.
2. Kim saying to get therapist that she doesn't want to be scared anymore.
3. Kim's testimony in the custody case.
4. Kim's whole "drugs/politics it's all the same" thing after she finds out the truth behind Blair's death.
5. On a lighter note and because it's honestly one of my favourite things Kim's ever said even though it's not so much like a deep or meaningful quote but I will find myself often repeating it to myself: when she wakes up from being shot the first time and pretends not to remember anything.
And as a bonus: in season two when she says Adam's been a bad boy. That lives rent free in my mind and I can't not mention it, even if it's not like a traditional thing to quote.
Thank you for asking!! 💖

this love
Intelligence thought they were dealing with a small drug operation within the limits of their own city until their wires got crossed with the Feds. And with the Feds an old friend has come back into town, trying to repair old wounds.
A/N: This is my first Chicago PD multi-chapter fic, so hang with me as I test the waters with this fandom. I’ve watched the show for all ten seasons, just never really dabbled into writing fic for it. Except I just could not get this idea out of my head, so I figured why not go ahead and try and write it. It’s planned at six chapters with an epilogue, if all goes to plan.
AO3
Chapter 1
“Jay, a minute?” The husky voice comes from the office behind him. His wife looks across from his desk up at him as she closes the folder of paperwork in front of her and raises a brow up at him.
“Yeah, Sarge.” He stands and pushes his chair into desk, “I’ll be just a few minutes.” He whispers down to his wife.
“I’ll wait for you in the truck.” Hailey finishes for him.
“Close the door.” Voight says taking his seat at his desk. “You know that big drug ring we’ve been trying to bring down for the past few months?”
“Yeah, the one the G-Park lords have shown some ties with to the cartels in Mexico?” He takes his own seat across from his boss as Voight reaches for his personal stash of bourbon and pours them both a glass.
“One of our CI’s got some information about a meet. Adam and Atwater went down last night, and it ended up being much more product than we thought. As they were leaving, they got pulled over, it was the FBI.”
“Sounds like the feds have an op going on the cartels and now we have our wires crossed.” He reaches for his glass and takes a sip. “I’m not sure what this has to do with me just though, doesn’t this really affect everyone? We’ve been working on this case for months.”
That’s when there is a knock on the door and an all too familiar voice fills his sergeant’s office.
“Hey, partner. Been a long time.” The voice is a deep one, with a huskiness and raspiness to it that he used to know like the back of his hand.
“Erin.” He isn’t sure whether or not he says her name out loud to himself or to her but somehow, she hears her name and lets out a small laugh.
“Yeah, it’s me.” She sits down next to him, and he can feel her eyes on him, looking him over from head to toe. “It’s nice to see you.”
He stares at her blankly, not sure what to say because in reality- he isn’t sure what to say. Personally, there are things he wants to say and even professionally there are things he wants to say to her.
Instead, he chooses to ignore his own feelings and goes the extremely professional route and pushes all his feelings aside for the time being, “So the Feds did get crossed in this, what does our drug case have to do with you?”
“This specific product has been traced in three different cities. El Paso, Los Angeles, and New York. Just last week we heard about a big transport to a new market and some of our agents picked up some chatter about a meet up for a big client..”
“Ruz and Kevin.”
“Yes, one of agents was watching the meet go down and caught them surveilling it too. We didn’t know CPD had an open investigation because your investigation was on the G-Park lords not the Cartel aspect.”
“So here we are.”
“Now we’re going to be working together on this,” Voight finally chimes in, and for once in his life, Jay is thankful for the man to interrupt a conversation. “I just wanted you and Erin to see each other with me before everyone else is around. I’ll give you two a few.”
He stands up and gives them a small nod, exiting his office, leaving the two of them alone.
“It is really nice to see you, Jay.” Erin says, unbuttoning her suit jacket.
He can feel his phone buzzing in his pocket and looks down at the screen Hailey.
“I’m sorry, I’ve got to take this. Hey, yeah I’m meeting with the feds- yeah, the drug case, I won’t be that much longer, probably fifteen minutes. You can either wait for me or take your car and I’ll meet you at home…. Sorry about that.”
“No, It’s late and you’re ready to go home. I just wanted to see you before everyone else was here. I feel like we needed a few minutes just the two of us.”
Jay nods because he’s not really sure what to say here, or what she wants.
“Listen, Jay. I’m not here to uproot your life, okay. I’m here because of the case- when I heard intelligence was working it, I did volunteer because I knew you all and I wanted to see you and give you some answers.”
“Erin, I respect you…You are good police, and you are probably a fantastic agent, but a lot has happened in the past few years. Stuff that honestly, I don’t think we would have survived. I’m married now… That phone call was my wife. Do you remember Hailey Upton?”
“I do.” There’s a small smile on Erin’s face and he watches as she looks down to the ring on his finger. “Let me guess, that’s who you married.”
“Yeah, that’s my wife. What happened between us, happened and I’m glad you were my partner and I’m thankful for the time we shared-but it’s just that, it’s in the past. It’s really good to see you and I’m glad you’re doing well, but let’s just run these cartel members into the ground?”
“Okay, Jay- I’ll see you tomorrow.”
With that, he stands, holsters his weapon, and makes his way out of 21, nodding to Trudy who gives him an all too knowing glare wondering how that conversation went upstairs.
The truck is on and Hailey is listening to a Podcast about some cooking show when he opens the door. He sits in the driver’s seat, closes the door, and lets out a huge sigh. His wife sits next to him, an eyebrow raised, waiting for him to speak.
“Lindsay’s back.”

~*~this feels so right, it can’t be wrong as far as i can see~*~
a/n: my very good friend @lovelymary wanted my version of the brettonio and dawsey double date in episode seven of season five, so here it is. the lyrics and title come from "stay here forever" by jewel. this is basically before the date, the date and then after the date for both couples.
~*~this feels so right, it can be wrong so far as i can see~*~
pairing [s]: antonio dawson x sylvie brett and matthew casey x gabriela dawson
summary: double dating wasn't out of the realm of possibility when you were dating your partner's brother, but sylvie never expected her feelings for antonio to hit her so hard and so fast and for them to be so obvious to gabby and casey
rating: t
it's a big world
for a boy and a girl
letting go of it all
holding onto one another
"stay here forever" - by jewel
"You know," Gabby's tone was sly, her eyes sparkling and Matt knew he should brace himself for her next words, especially since he found his lap full of her petite body, her arms draped around his neck. Thankfully the blinds to his office were closed. He didn't need any grief from Severide about quickies at work and how he can't do the same with Kidd in his own office. "Sylvie and Antonio seem pretty steady," She observed, tracing the planes of his chest through his collared CFD shirt.
Matt was happy for Gabby's brother, he really was. He had come to consider Antonio a friend and not just his fiance's brother and an ally with the CPD. That didn't mean he wanted to hear about his relationship with one of his co-workers.
He felt his body relax as Gabby began to press kisses, soft but full of heat, against his jaw and he knew she was buttering him up for whatever she was about to tell him. He, however, wasn't going to complain as his own hands sunk into her thick glossy chocolate hair to anchor her lips to his skin.
"I was thinking," She murmured, her voice breathless and warm, making him groan. "We all happen to have off the Wednesday before my parents' big bash on Saturday, sooooo what if we did something together? Like grab dinner, dessert and we could dance too? You need all the practice you can get before you walk into that ballroom full of at least a hundred or so Latinos and Latinas, baby,"
"Are you saying I can't dance?" He joked, stroking her soft cheek with his thumb. "That's not what I said. I said you need practice. There's a difference," She laughed, unable to keep a straight face. "Just for that I should put you on hose duty," He remarked. "But because I know I can't say no to you about anything, we can double date with your brother and Brett. I get to pick the restaurant, though."
"You drive a hard bargain, Lieutenant. Buuuuut I bet I can change your mind."
A searing kiss was pressed to Matt's lips and then Gabby had thrown her shirt over her head, leaving her in a lace bra he definitely would have remembered. Suddenly picking the restaurant wasn't as important.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
You and Sylvie, me and Matt at Lakeshore's Wednesday night at 7 don't be late big brother I know where you live
Antonio shook his head as he saw the incoming text from Gabby. Double dating with his younger sister was always interesting to say the least. She was very protective of him, despite being the younger sibling. It took her years to warm up to Laura who had confessed to him on numerous occasions throughout their marriage, she still wasn't sure if Gabby liked her. But he was just as culpable, unable to turn off his cops instincts, which led him to chasing off a few of Gabby's boyfriends.
This was different. He'd known Matt for years now. Hell, the guy came to him to ask for the family's permission to marry Gabby. He was good people. And it wasn't like Sylvie was a stranger. But he knew Gabby wanted to see them interact together, to see neither of them was jumping into something they weren't prepared for.
It was silly he was a grown man in his 40s with two teenagers, but Sylvie made him feel like he was as much of a teenager as Eva and Diego actually were. With Laura things had burned hot and fast, then settled into a typically suburban life once he made detective. He couldn't remember the women, girls really, before her except for Angel Ramirez who went to high school with Gabby and Deana Cruz who was his first everything. So dating was new to him, honestly, and Sylvie's infectious energy had worn off on him.
"You have a visitor, Rico Suave," Came Platt's dry tone, drawing him out of his thoughts. Sylvie jauntily waved from behind the austere sargeant, her blue eyes as bright as her smile. Seeing her familiar blinding smile, he couldn't stop his lips from curving into one of their own, even as Ruzek cat called and Atwater remarked, "Bow chicka wow wow,"
"Aren't you a sight for sore eyes, Sylvie Brett," Antonio mused, drawing her lithe frame into his strong frame. "Keep it PG you're on city property," Platt's tone was droll as she rolled her eyes while the detective drew the medic in for a soft kiss.
"I probably should have called ahead or at least texted. I just realized I don't know exactly when you guys take a lunch or a break," She was sheepish, peering at him through her velvet lashes. "Whenever we can," Antonio was honest. "It's rare we go to lunch at the same time twice in the same month. Lucky for you I haven't taken mine yet." He winked and she flushed, showing him the familiar brown paper bag from Lucky's.
"Lucky's?" Jay groaned from his desk. "That is not fair. Hey," He called to Erin across the bullpen. "Why don't you ever bring me a sandwich from Lucky's. I would bring you one."
"You lie," Erin rolled her eyes. "You insist we go dutch over stakeout snacks because you're a cheapskate, Halstead."
"No, I insist we go dutch on stakeout snacks because I respect you as a woman, Erin Lindsay. You wouldn't want a man to pay your way and I'm honoring that. I'm a feminist."
Antonio soaked in Sylvie's warm bubbly laughter as he guided her into the little kitchenette while Jay and Erin continued their playful squabble as Ruzek and Atwater decided between Lou Malnati's or Weiner Circle for their lunch.

pairing: erik johnson x oc
summary: isabel ramos has always tried to keep her private life away from the white hot glare of the spotlight, but with a man like erik johnson on her arm, how can she not brag
rating: t
[red carpet debut]
he ain't from round
this side of town
but he fits into every crowd
and he knows just how to do my body and my heart right
At this point red carpets - for vanity liquor launches, for the latest Netflix drama or superhero tentpole flick to even the Oscars - Isabel had been there and done that. She knew what to expect; the white hot glare from all of the lights, the constant flashes of hundreds of cameras, forty different people shouting her name and of course the dozens of interviews from various entertainment news outlets.
Tonight - walking the white (pun intended) carpet - for the second season premiere of HBO Max's newest crown jewel in White Lotus would be just a little different. She wouldn't be walking the carpet alone. She knew everyone was gossiping about her and her co-star, the handsome British actor, Theo James, but tonight she was putting those rumors to bed for good.
Guiding her down the carpet for the first time was going to be her husband (yes, husband you read that right) Colorado Avalanche stalwart defenseman, Erik Johnson. Her lips couldn't help but curl proudly as her long time makeup artist worked her magic. Keeping things private was never easy, not even Ben and Jen had managed to keep their wedding reception from leaking. But Erik's teammates were sweet in respecting their wishes and her friends were all too familiar with things getting out to the public before you wanted them to.
She touched the four point five karat sapphire ring on her finger, her heart picking up speed while butterflies erupted in her stomach. She had done this a hundred times - since she was sixteen and had broken out on the soap opera General Hospital, playing mobster Sonny Corinthos's headstrong daughter whose mother was his former lover and attorney, Alexis Davis - but this was truly different. Even though she had walked carpets with her exes and flings and everything in between, Erik wasn't them. He was everything she had hoped and dreamed of as a girl watching every rom com she could get her hands on.
Slipping her wedding ring from her left ring finger to her right, she laughed softly. There were still some things they wanted to keep for themselves.
"Hola, esposa," Erik's jumbled Spanish made Isabel smile, her own dimples appearing to match his. "Nice try, Blanquito," Her voice was soft and placating but Erik took it in stride, her teasing making his stomach tumble like only she could.
Growing up with Brazilian parents, Isabel learned Spanish before she learned English and could speak conversational Portuguese as well. Erik was trying his hand at Spanish and more often than not he mostly succeeded in making her laugh as he asked why she couldn't just teach him the naughty words.
Once her makeup was finished, he let out a whistle at seeing her full white carpet look. A summery silk maxi dress in a deep green with a plunging neckline and silvery strappy heels while her velvet black hair was twisted into an elaborate braid crown gave her the glam of the star she was and kept with the show's luxury resort theme. It was hard to believe she was his. He was just a hockey player, a Minnesotan born and bred raised in his small town that somehow made it to the league, forget being drafted number one overall and now winning the Cup.
Their first night, the thin Mountain air around them, her sneaking into Denver on a private flight in the wee hours (Erik knew it wasn't his best display of leadership but fuck it, Isabel was too good to be true) on a game day, she told him - their bodies plastered together, sticky with sweat, that's what she liked most about him. That he was the small town boy who made good. It reminded her that she was a small town girl, having left her Brazilian tropical life behind, for a brighter future in the States, her parents wanting to give her everything they never had. That she was just Isabel. Not this international celebrity, a point of fascination for strangers, but a girl who ached for love like any normal person would.
Everything was dimmer with Erik on her arm - the white hot glare warm instead of intense, the shouting not as invasive - except her smile. She knew it was blinding as they posed, his large hand on the small of her back. She missed the cool metal of his ring against her skin but she would make do. No one needed to know everything about her.
The headlines from The Cut to Duemoix to TMZ came fast and furious once they were at the after party at Balthazar with the rest of the cast and director and creator, Mike White.

Isabel wasn't surprised how easily Erik fell in with the cast and crew, charming them like he had charmed her. She couldn't imagine being any happier and that meant she was entitled to brag, posting a black and white shot of them in a heated embrace in their private car on the way back to the hotel. His large hand slipping under the silk of her dress while her hands were tangled in his soft blonde hair, their lips locked in a steamy kiss.

What I've (Not) Watched Lately
I’ve meant to do another one of these for so long there’s quite a number of things I’ve watched or tried to watch. Under the cut because it will get long, but I need to get my feelings out, so I can move on.
I watched 3 episodes of La Brea and then gave up because by episode 3 I should care at least one character and I just didn’t. And plot-holes, lack-of-logic-wise it was worse than Revolution (and that says a LOT). How do people survive the fall and flashlights work but apparently no car does and all plane electronics go out?
I know I shouldn’t expect logic from TV shows, silly me. Anyway, it’s a shame because based on the premise this could have been the new Terra Nova (gah, I think I need a rewatch.) As if I don’t watch too many things already.
I tried Midnight Mass and quit after one episode after I asked a friend and checked doesthedogdie, because ep ending was a very nasty surprise and apparently that continues throughout the show and nope, dead cats and lots of blood & gore to follow etc. are not for me and that’s fine.
I watched two episodes of Moon Knight, but like with La Brea, just didn’t care about the characters (even though Osccar Issac is hot). The plot was at least better but not enough – and I wasn’t in the right space for the moral dilemmas (as in everyone being wrong in some way) it presented. I might give it another go some time, though.
I finally quit New Amsterdam after 4x8, because it got boring and I can’t stand Max (and Max and Helen – and to think I really shipped them in the beginning but the put it off at least a season too long and meh) and I hated the about re: hospital policy, because we can’t make non-capitalist ways work, can we?
I half watched No Time to Die. It was the worst of the Daniel Craig’s Bond movies, IMO. Madeline came out of nowhere and hence, again, I just didn’t care that much about her and everything. IDK how they couldn’t have better established the supposedly core motivation of the movie better in 2 and half hours, FFS. A minute or two less shooting would do the trick, I think.
I also watched Un peuple et son roi, because it was on national TV and it had been on my list. European production is always a nice change of tone and it was okay, but nothing special.
Now, on to more engaging things.
Speaking of European production, I watched Heartstopper and it was fluffy, light, and adorable, and I am looking forward to S2.
I’ve also watched a ton of currently airing shows (now ended/ending for the season.)
The Rookie was a pleasant time-killer, as always.
I need to quit 911 Lone Star. The only good thing I remember from this season was that short Tommy/Julius venture. So, yeah.
I only watched episode 1 of S7 of LoT and IDK if I’ll watch it through the end. Maybe just the ep(s) where Wentworth Miller was back? Otherwise I lost interest and it also got cancelled. So, depends on my mood/state of boredom.
I continued watching CPD, mainly for Tracy, of course, and it also was a nice way to kill time.
I also started Chicago Fire mid-season purely due to Brett Dalton guest-starring, but then got attached to a few other people (mostly Violet) and kept watching. And I was so satisfied with Brett’s character’s arc. It was a healing experience, nevermind the different show and all. I was happy.
I also continued watching Law and Order: SVU & Organized Crime (which I got into at the end of last summer) and these, too, are excellent time-killers. Although, for such an old show – and the same goes for the Chicago franchise – and big fandoms, the said fandoms are surely conservative AF. I guess if I want any content for random unconventional rare ships that pop into my mind, I’ll have to make it myself. If only I had the time & energy. Oh well, I guess it’ll just stay in my head.
The height of my weekly watching was the FBI franchise, as you may have noticed, in particularly the spin-offs, in particularly, the FBI: Most Wanted spin-off. I actually meta-d about those sporadically as I went along.
So in short, FBI is more or less boring and I hate them going back and forth with propping OA up for positive ‘representation’ just to then make him bow down to the ‘way the job is done’, ugh. But Shantel van Santen did bring a bit of fresh air to the show at the end of the season.
FBI: International is what it is and I wrote about it before, but I was satisfied with the season ending (I only caught up today) re: Scott’s mum and as I said before, I am invested in these characters, so I’ll keep watching.
The new boss on FBI: Most Wanted also brought in a lot of fresh-air and as you’ve probably noticed I also got invested to the point of starting giffing again (some of which I still have to do, but see: time and & energy).
Although I’ve just learned Ivan’s leaving the show, WTF. Going like that, this show will be worse than LoT; only two original characters remaining already in S4.
But, again, I’m invested in the rest of them – I also really like Kristin and Hana and Barnes – so I’ll tune in for the next season.
Oh, yeah, I’ve also been watching Stalker, because of reasons. I still have 4 episodes left, but It’s very good, too bad there was just one season.
Phew. I think that’s all. I watched a few other things I believe I talked about in separate posts already.

Note
My brother and his girlfriend agreed to watch an episode of Chicago PD with me and I'm making them watch the episode where Mouse comes in!
Yes! Shaking Mouse in front of people is, in fact, how I get people to watch CPD.
But I do have one question. Which Mouse intro ep are we talking about?
Tumblr media
Is it the sunflower boy introduction?
Tumblr media
or mommy issues in stripes introduction?
both introductions are valid but he's arguably a completely different person in season 1 than when we see him again in season 2
