I will never stop masking in public spaces, or taking precautions wherever I go. It also baffles me how little we still know about how Covid will impact the body because it's only almost 5 years old (I recently read a post about what we know about long covid and the information is just jarring). Stay safe and keep masking folks!

Look, you either care about medically vulnerable people or you don't. It's not a fashion choice you can put on when vulnerable people see you and then take off when you want to go back to not caring.

When you're unmasked you're increasing the risk of spreading a lethal/disabling pathogen around. It doesn't matter if the vulnerable people in your life are in the room at any given moment because you're helping to spread the thing that makes it so they can't be in the room.

Don't post unmasked selfies at events or in crowded public spaces and then claim that you "mask up around vulnerable people" when a vulnerable person calls you out for it. You don't "mask up around vulnerable people" because we don't have big Sims-like cones over our heads to light up and show you that we're vulnerable. Not everyone who is vulnerable even knows that they are.

And the real, cold, harsh truth of it is everyone is vulnerable to this one. It's messing up blood, organs, brains, and whole-body systems in ways we're still learning about. It's making more vulnerable people with every spread. Those of you not vulnerable now are really just pre-vulnerable.

Be the leftist/progressive/intersectional hero you fantasize about being. Mask up, avoid superspreader events, test often, encourage others to do the same.

Or at least stop lying to yourself about it because the lies aren't fooling any of us who actually care.

Ok, I tend not to be Covid-conscious on main because I get tired of banging my head against a wall made of denial and histrionic conspiracy theories, but I am begging y'all to remember: We share air. Period. There is no personal choice to BREATHING. Wear a mask when you are sharing air woth people, because the Candian Covid Hazard Index is not looking good:

Our goal is $9,000 to win the auction and pay for transportation of the masks from VA to mask blocs across the country.

These include mask blocs in DC, Northern Southern and Central Virginia, New Orleans, St. Louis, and Champaign Urbana, New York City, Kansas City, Tulsa, Knoxville, Long Island and more.

Whenever I see people looking at the numbers that doctors gave us from Gaza and they say "I don't trust the numbers" "I have no confidence in the figures" "Why should we trust the numbers" etc.

I always get MASSIVE deja vu. It's almost like the last time we didn't trust the doctors' numbers we reached a 1,136,920 (and counting) death count (America alone).

let me just say (into the void) to all the folks screaming about how 'you're not supporting (x) unless you're there protesting in person for it'

Since the fucking plague started, that falls flat to me and I'll tell you why. Even before there were vaccines, there were large groups of jackasses NOT wearing masks. Large groups of selfish assholes who refused to do the bare minimum to protect other people.

Asymptomatic spread was and is still a thing, but I'm supposed to go into a large crowd of people screaming and NOT wearing masks. Nope, my surgically repaired lung and I will not be doing that. All the nopes, in fact - and fuck you for suggesting it.

I have my beliefs, I have my opinions, and I know how to keep to my principles. What I don't need is to put my life at risk to prove them.

really happy to see someone still taking Covid precautions. I feel literally insane when people try to act like the pandemic is over and I'm some paranoid health freak

I totally thought I was alone too until I started watching communities of covid conscious people on tiktok talk about similar experiences to mine, and I realized that we're all doing our best to live in a world that has been and will continue to be forever changed by Covid.

It feels quite isolating sometimes, and I've been able to find balance in my life but I've been mitigating 'risks' in so many ways since the start of the pandemic. Covid has been traumatizing for many of us and still continues to be in a plethora of ways.

I pop open windows on buses I ride a majority of the time (especially if it's packed), I wear my mask in every public space I go to, I sanitize my hands while I'm working and of course when I get home -I even still put my clothes in a separate hamper and shower immediately after work. Until we live in a Covid free world, I will do as much as humanely possible to protect myself and those who are immuno-compromised.

I have had a handful of toxic people around me say really terribly ableist things to me. One, in particular, who belittled me for my OCD and anxiety. For such people like that, I let it roll off my shoulders, because at the end of the day I'm not living in denial or fear -I just refuse to live as though everything is back to 'normal.' When it never really was to begin with because capitalism has been/is killing our souls and bodies literally, and it most certainly isn't now -especially when covid can and will still impact people and their loved one's.

I've only talked about this from time to time, but if anyone wants to inbox me about anything related to covid consciousness or any news updates about this topic -please do! And thank you for sending me this. I hope you're doing well! You're definitely not alone!
