I just saw a post trying to argue that in RWBY the female outfits are more sexualized then the male cast.....because the female cast tends to "show more skin", and also part of this same post is talking about Jaune's armor and wondering if there is a story reason for that and questioning why more people don't wear armor in the show.

RWDE's once again showing their lack of understanding. First, the attire of the female cast is not really sexualized, especially compared to some redesings certain folks have made. Second, Monty and CRWBY purposlly put in "anti-upskit tech" so we see nothing when people like Ruby and Weiss do flips. Third, given the fact that things such as "individual identity" are part of the narrative it makes sense for the cast to be in outfits that are more focused on personal tastes rather than practicality. As for Jaune's armor, the story is about his growth. Jaune took the old hand-me-down armor and weapon and faked his way into Beacon because he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his forebearers. He wanted to be the big hero. He is stuck in the past. Then after The Fall he integrates some metal's from Pyrrha's gear and weapons into his newly reforged stuff. It isn't a lot, but now he carries his fallen partner with him. However he is more focused on offense, indicated by the Claymore Mode of his sword. After he talks with his team in Argus and they make it to Atlas he takes another step with a retooling of his gear. He gets more balance in his armor and his weapon focus turns to his shield which is now armed with a gravity dust reflector. But then things go wrong and he falls into the Ever After where he spends years allowing in his regrets as he is back to being stuck in the past, hence why even fully armored he is covered in rust. He hasn't properlly taken care of himself. When they get to Vacuo he will likely rebalance himself once more now that he can be with his team again and we will see a brand new look. As for why more character's don't wear armor, again it is purely aethsetic choice both in and out of universe. Out of univers, the character's without armor stand out more and feel more like the anime and video game characters that Monty and crew were inspired by, and this in turn lets the few with armor stand out in their own way as well. In-universe it lets more characters show their personal freedoms/limitations in their dress. It helps reflect parts of themselves. A number of folks in this fandom have already broken down such design choices.

Hazbin redesigns

I tried to make their designs more varied in colour and actually resemble what they're supposed to be.

I gave Charlie more goat features like the nose, hooves and horns (she also has goat ears but they get covered by her hair). I also tried to incorporate the fact that she's supposed to be a doll with her joints and face paint. Her outfit stayed pretty similar to how it is in canon because I don't mind her being red when the rest of the cast isn't and because it looks cute.

Vaggie also looks more like a moth now. She has lot's of scars because of her background (she isn't an ex-exterminator in my version but im still figuring some stuff out there). She wears casual clothes because she desperately needs a rest. I also gave her a more stocky build.

For Angel I focused on a very pink colour sceme (because I like pink). I didn't have lots of problems with his original design, mostly that he doesn't look like a spider too much. I made him fluffier and gave him different teeth (which look more spidery imo) also gave him a spiderbutt because I genuinely don't know why they didn't do that in the original show.

I made Alastor actually look like a deer because he doesn't look at all like one in his og design. Also no more red since red is typically associated with danger and I wanted him to look like he could manipulate demons into giving him their soul by being charismatic (still wanted to make him look creepy ofc). Blue and gold are typically associated with Angels in this show and I thought that'd be a nice change for his colours. The stitches in his face are were the black tentacle things come out of when he is in his demon form.

I don't have a lot to say about Nifty. She is a bug now, specifically a fly. She also isn't red anymore because flies are green and because it fit with her wanting to clean stuff (since green is often connected to dirt or garbage). I gave her cleaning gloves and tried to make her look more like she could be from the 50s with her dress and hair. She has golden accents to connect her with Alastor.

Husk's design is all over the place but his redesing is probably my favorite one. I gave him a bigger build because someone who pretty much only consumes alcohol all day wouldn't be that skinny. I also tried to make him look older and more rugged. His colours were really obnoxious so I toned them down as well as the owl aspects of his design. I gave him an actual outfit since the one he has in the show confuses me and looks a bit silly.

These are designs for my AU of Hazbin Hotel which im currently figuring out. There's a lot more I could say about some of these designs but I kept it shorter here.

I also finished my Pentious and Cherry Bomb redesings, which I'll probably post a little later. I also already have ideas for the Vee's but I havent fully drawn them yet. Feel free to give suggestions/ask questions about my redesings/rewrite.

At last! After months of not uploading this to my web sites… here is a 2023 redesign of my old OC from "Mune the guardian of the moon" when I was in preschool.

DESCRIPTION: "Estherlla, the guardian of the stars… she is in charge of guarding and caring for the most resplendent star in the sky and the others that cover the night. Estherlla and her race do not live on the planet like other terrestrial species like fauns or people plants and rock…rather, they live in the sky, outside the planet's atmosphere. Luckily, their society can live without problems inside the giant guardian, which is a giant blue whale that floats in space while releasing glowing powder from its blowhole to keep the stars still shining."

Aaaaaaaa I love this book so much!!

I recently bought it a second time (because the German translation isn’t good and I prefer the original anyway). And they only had the old version available so I tried to create the perfect mix of both styles and ideas

Adam Silvera is an incredible author and this book is so heartbreakingly beautiful that you just have to read it !

It’s about tow boys who find out that they are going to die that day , how they meet and what they do on their last day on earth.

My take on those cult covers! The first one was made for the @crownofthornspod cover redesing challenge. Check it out, it’s a wonderful audio project. 

here you can see the cover art i did a fanart of, the first sketch, blobbing out colors and finished render. more details under the cut

i choose to simplify the original design in alot of places, in the original there are beautiful details all over the cover, i wanted to focus the eye to her upper body and face. as well as trying to bring more dimension in by a clearer difference between foreground and background. the silhouette of the stonewall and megans silhouette blending toghether perfectly where that bush meets the hair was also an easy area to redesing to make her stand out more. also lending for a more interesting line for the middle ground overall. 

i also changed the color pallette slightly. notably in making the sky have more blue tones than the original to tie together with the blue flower as well as pop and contrast megans hair.  since i decided against adding in the second stonewall framing megan from the cover i had the space to put something light there to bring some of the romantic mood in from the cover back into my own painting. this hazy sailor moon style sky and moon felt like a perfect component to add. the white also balances out the collar and white wrist sleeve details well. 

how to stylize her face was an interesting series of choices, i sketched 2 other faces before settling on the one in my sketch, very stylized manga faces can be hard to translate but a softer face with pretty wideset eyes felt right and true to the character.  i ended up further morphing the face as i went along in my painting, pushing the nose and mouth up for a younger look. i did a lot of drawing and redrawing of the eyebrows to get that dreamy look that has been captured so well on the real cover.

Some sketches I did for my “the redesign dinosaurs” being some sauropod concepts , including a second redesing of the Dwarf Titanosaur  which although I covered in my redesing of the sauropods I also though in another version that was a mix of updated sauropoda anatomy and also preserving some of the features of the original including a long head, short neck and a fancy hump, some sort of more exaggerated Rebbachisaurid. Second below is the Last stegosaurus, which in this case in this reinterpretation is actually another kind of Sauropod, some class of very spiky form that existed during the isolation period of India.

You know I’ve seen this My hero academia redesing discourse in my dashboard and I realized:

These people whant 15 year old girls to cover up so they don’t look distracting to kids primarely aged 12 to 18.

It’s almost like they want a dress code.

Oh my gosh! I absolutely LOVE your pokemon redesings; especially SCIZOR I LOOKS AMAZING MY JAW DROPPED WHEN I SAW IT! I noticed that they have a bit of a Mayan/Aztec feel to them. That's not a stretch is it? Was that an inspiration?

I do have a great respect for Mayan/Aztec art work, and it has definitely inspired me on some level. It’s something that has influenced me greatly when I do most of my Monster Hunter related works, and I have done a few Pokemon that are intentionally based on that style as well, such as Onix and Steelix, Koffing and Weezing, as well as Natu and Xatu.

If you really want to see some amazing Mayan-based artwork, I would strongly suggest you check out @monarobot​ who does phenomenal stuff. They cover a lot of cool monsters, including Pokemon, with a really unique twist! They were a big inspiration for me to start my own Pokemon project n_n
