rating music obsessions various headmates gave us, in no particular order
dresden dolls - 8/10 - courtesy of cinna evanthe
i liked this one!! painful lyrics, impressive sound, and i think i was (am) pretty normal about it. easy to study to! slightly problematic artists i guess but we ignore that. points added for supplying me with good sheet music for months. points taken away for this one being cinna’s fault (he is absolutely NOT normal about it).
waterparks - 3/10 - courtesy of rue fowler
embarrassing. not even that good. no bonus points added. points taken away for giving me the illusion of being easy to play on the guitar (it wasn’t. wtf is c#m)
set it off - 8/10 - courtesy of sunnie madden
this one was good. despite me being really annoying about it to anyone who would allow me (points taken away), the lyrics are excellent, it got me playing the piano again, our murderous 6 year old is directly sourced from one of their songs, and they’re good people! points added for getting me through a 60 hour road trip and being supportive of neopronouns.
random encounters - 6/10 - courtesy of xenie saltzman-herbert
remember when i said parx was embarrassing? this was worse. but i didn’t bother anyone about it, the videos are pretty funny, and the music is genuinely good. points added for providing xenie with a loving family. points removed for AJ pinkerton’s existence
musicals in general - -182827371734/10 - courtesy of seven sawyer-heron
this started with hamilton in the fifth grade and then got exponentially worse. caused more trauma than one would expect. ruined my life. put our headcount at over 300 alters at one point. i was so fucking obnoxious about it too. and i couldn’t even sing so there was not a single redeeming quality. absolutely fucking not
ado - 9/10 - courtesy of kai saikota
ongoing (which is probably why it has such a high rating). but the music is so fucking good??? role model fr??? makes kai happy, makes me happy, and very pretty sound. i love her. she’s an icon. one point deducted for encouraging my mother to be a little bit racist and bodyshame me
niigo - 7/10 - courtesy of like…. everyone. all at once.
this one was….. fine. nothing exciting comes to mind. they’re all bops. not awful but not outstanding. listening to them makes crowe’s parents come into front and start singing and dancing but i can’t decide if this is a good thing or not
motionless in white / ice nine kills - 8/10 - courtesy of sunnie madden (again)
lumping these together because they happened at the same time, we saw them together in concert, and were equally obsessed with both. points added for providing me with vin and lanie, a really cool concert, and excellent music. also put the idea in my head that i could be a rockstar in the future. again can’t decide if this is good or not
egg - 8/10 - courtesy of probably emery greenhoe
ok i actually loved this one. exposed me to a wider variety of songs than i’d normally listen to and was really good to do schoolwork to. not super loud so i could listen to it at top volume and my ears were fine. very pretty voice and supporting a lesbian creator. points deducted for making me think i could sing
fall out boy - 7/10 - courtesy of seven sawyer-heron and emery greenhoe
we were chill about this one!! really good lyrics and a generally nice fandom. emo music awakening
taylor swift - 2/10 - courtesy of seven sawyer-heron
it’s taylor swift i think that’s all i need to say

CADET ATTACHMENT PROGRAM
DAY 3 | January 16, 2023 | 8:00AM - 5:00PM
MONDAY FLAG RAISING CEREMONY
This morning, I was instructed to report and render courtesy call to PCOL ROBERT R BAESA, COP, TCPS as well as to attend the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony at the Taguig City Hall as I was reassigned to Taguig City Police Station beside the City Hall. The City Government of Taguig was this time celebrating the 27th National Autism Consciousness Week with the themes "1Pangako: A Call for Kindness" and "Building a Nation Powered by Transformative Autism-Inclusive Innovation" together with the Persons with Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO) and other government agencies including the PNP, BJMP and BFP.
Tumblr media
National Autism Consciousness Week is held every third week of January. It is a time to raise awareness through sharing vital information about this lifelong neurological disorder and to bolster the government's commitment for the inclusion of people with autism. This annual celebration is conducted as a response to the increasing statistics of Filipinos diagnosed with this condition and has been supported by the Proclamation No. 711 signed on Jan. 4, 1996, by then President Fidel Ramos.
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a developmental disability characterized by social and communication deficits that impede optimal functioning. The cause of this condition has remained unknown yet has been linked to genetics. Some autistic people have difficulty in making eye contact, understanding or using spoken language and expressing emotions or feelings which sometimes lead to self-harming behavior, tantrums and aggression. These characteristics of autism may be detected in early childhood, but autism is often not diagnosed until much later. [1]
Some of the main signs of autism are anxiety, especially in social situations, the inability to make friends and difficulty in understanding what others think or feel. While an independent life is possible for those in the spectrum, not all are able to achieve the same level of independence. Since ASD is a developmental disability, it must be noted that ASD begins before the age of 3 and can last throughout a person’s life, with symptoms improving over time. [2]
During the said activity, Disabilities Affairs Office (PDAO) head Larry Supas shared the importance of supporting the persons with disabilities particularly those with autism. According to him, people with Autism have daily challenges that not everyone can understand and that we have to support them in every way. The local government and the PDAO continue to intensify and expand advocacy against abuse and discrimination.
Tumblr media
On the other side, Mayor Lani Cayetano encouraged everyone to join her in reciting the 1Pangako Pledge. This pledge aims not to use the word "autistic" as a joke but rather to promote the acceptance and care of people with disabilities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a cadet, I became more aware to people with Autism and what it means to live with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) specially the unique challenges that they may face, such as difficulty in communication, social interactions, and understanding the environment.
It is important for us, cadets, to have a good understanding of autism and its impact on individuals and families. This understanding can help us, cadets, to provide appropriate support and assistance to individuals with autism, and to interact with them in a respectful and sensitive manner.

Title: Sortilege WC: 900 Episode: Poof! You’re Dead (3 x 12)
He should know she’s a fan of magic. He sees her best tricks, day in, day out, without the benefit of a magic wand or X-ray specs. She doesn’t need them. She doesn’t need a collapsible top hat or an assistant in spangled tights and a bustier any more than Zalman Drake really needed any of those things. Her act is, in effect, much the same as his.
It all starts with the obvious. Every person who sits across the table from her—suspect, survivor, or low-life-of-interest—reveals so much about themselves before they open their mouths. There’s posture, gesture, movement. As spine that’s too pointedly straight tells her one thing, fingers drumming the table with studded nonchalance tell her another.
There’s presentation, too—clothes and jewelry, grooming or lack thereof. She looks for items that are too expensive, that are worn, that are brand new and uncomfortable. She looks for the three-day beard, the carefully touched-up roots, the wedding ring that is or isn’t there—should or shouldn’t be there. She waits and lets each and every guest spill their guts before the fun begins.
She picks people’s brains just like Zalman Drake did. She stares them down and tells them to think good thoughts while the boys are off picking their pockets. It’s cold reading in the room on the first go around, and hot reading thereafter. It’s always you know about that? and the answer is she does now, if she hadn’t already.
So yeah, she’s a fan of magic. She’s got stage presence for days, and she’s world class. On the job, she is. On the job, she’d have given Zalman a run for the money he was never going to get, in the brain-picking department, in the pocket-picking department, in the tell-me-all-your-secrets department.
But that’s on the job. Off the job, she’s not exactly nailing it. She picks his pocket at the most inopportune time. Gina calling. Gina calling and calling it seems, and there he stands, an absolutely careful blank. There she stands, pointedly not in the business of the cold read, the hot read—pointedly not interested at all.
That’s . . . appropriate. He’s not a blank, of course. The stiffening of his spine, the way his knuckles whiten around the phone as he shoves it haphazardly into the pocket of his sport coat—it’s a broadcast she’s not meant to be tuning into, so she doesn’t. She mostly doesn’t.
But that comes back to bite her, that magic trick undone. Lanie undertakes some misdirection of her own. It’s utterly pointless misdirection. The vics in all their stainless steel drawers can’t help but know what’s going on with Lanie and her cocktail dress, but she tosses a smoke bomb anyway,. She blindsides the two of them by uttering the name they’ve been carefully, mutually avoiding, though it’s been floating in the bullpen aether. It’s been dying away whenever one of them happens upon a heads-together conversation, and now here’s Lanie saying it right out loud—You tell me what’s going on between you and Gina . . .
It’s cheating. It’s a violation of the magician’s code. It’s awkward as hell and a shot to the solar plexus. It’s a rush of reactions she’s been trying hard not to have. It’s a relief, because they were fighting. They were bitterly fighting, and that’s not what she thought was going on. She thought the fuss would have been about something romantic—some grand gesture he’d made,. Something obscenely public. In her secret heart of hearts she thought it might be a proposal. A Page-6-making second proposal. But they were fighting.
She could have known that. Since the moment she happened upon him and Esposito on the street outside the shop, she could have let the silence work and seen the whole of it in the tense line of his shoulders, the unhappy set of his jaw. She thinks she probably could have known long before this morning, but she’s gotten in the habit of letting everything she could know about him tumble through the trap door she closes tight.
She’s gotten in the habit of leaving that magic trick undone and telling herself that when it comes to him—when they’re off the job—it’s professional courtesy. It’s the magician’s code.
But his phone rings again and there’s nothing up his sleeve. He holds it up a moment longer than he needs to, and she’s meant to see. She knows that he means for her to see, and still it’s eavesdropping. It’s an accident that she’s on hand the very moment he says, with a painful heave of his shoulders, What I’m saying is, it’s over.
It’s an accident. It’s the stuff of the kind of magic she does, and all she’s been trying to hide from herself is revealed. He’s hurting. Her friend is hurting, and it’s not the magician’s code that’s kept her from knowing that. It’s not what can or should keep her from knowing it now.
She has amends to make. Without benefit of a collapsible top hat or.a magic wand, she sets about her work. Come with me, she says, in not so many words. You don’t have to do this alone. She says it in not so many words, and he says yes.
There’s magic in that.
A/N: Gina—consumed by absence of morphousness. A first-draft Gashleycrumb Tinies if there ever was one.

How you both met: You’re practically Bokuto’s best friend after Keiji of course so he both called you over one day thinking he could be cupid and tried setting you both up. He told you both to sit in his room and left ‘to make dinner’ on which you both insisted helping but he refused. Of course you guys thought it was weird of him but let him be anyways. Tumblr media
You chuckle brightly as your phone lights up for the third time in a row, buzzing softly with a notification from Steve. Shoving a spoonful of Chinese take-out into your mouth, you type back, blissfully unaware of the mischievous looks that your roommates give you.
He’s been texting you for weeks - whether it be to check in on you, or ask about your day, or to share new music with you. Steve truly meant it when he had said that he enjoyed your company. You didn’t mind the sudden companionship between the two of you, becoming closer to Steve couldn’t make you any happier. But you did wonder if he felt the same way, based on his flirtatious innuendos and his cheeky comments.
What if you were simply trying to see what you wanted to: that he liked you back?
“When we said text Steve, we didn’t mean text Steve.” Kate smirks, twisting her fork into the chow-mein. “You guys have been at it nonstop, huh?”
You shrug, locking your phone. “He’s just being friendly.” Robin huffs loudly, groaning as she leans back against the chair. “I don’t wanna jump to conclusions, Ro. And I really don’t wanna rush into things, either. We don’t need another Jake situation.”
“God, I forget about that asshole.” She laughs bitterly, fists clenching at the mention of his name. “Piece of shit.”
Kate continues making conversation, talking amongst herself with Robin as you return to the messages on your phone.
what are u doing todayyy?
nothing rlly, gonna relax my ass off since it’s already break 🎄
You bite down on your thumb, before continuing to type away.
what about you?
The grey ellipse appears on the screen, bouncing as Steve begins to reply - only for it to disappear shortly thereafter, where you found yourself left on read. You frowned, hoping that you hadn’t lost his interest. Giving him a couple of minutes, you slip your phone away, dragging your feet to the front door to grab the mail as you thought of worst case scenarios.
You pull open the mailbox, sticking your hand inside to grab the pile of white envelopes and coupons from the local market. Shifting through the papers, you take notice of a few important letters, eyebrows raised when you see one sent from London. A breeze brushes past your calves, and you turn in surprise to the sound of a small, chiming bell. Pedaling in circles around you, Steve plants his foot on the concrete, pulling the red bike to a stop.
“Hey!” You laugh heartily, putting the stack of mail under your arm.
Steve grabs the drink carrier in the basket of his bike, handing you a hot cup of coffee with a shy grin. He sports a grey beanie, and little wings of his hair pop out from beneath the fabric.
Adorable.
“I just wanted to repay you for that last time.” He remarks, “If I remembered correctly, it’s your favorite.”
“Thank you, Steve.” Your fingers brush against his as you generously accept the cup, ignoring the nervous tremble in your voice. “How’s your morning so far?”
“It’s alright. Better now. Thanks to you.” His head charmingly bobs to the side. Dipping your heads, you both blush with bashful smiles. “But I, uh, just finished my newspaper route around the neighborhood. And I’m headin’ back to my place.”
“Yeah? Maybe we could hang out today or something?” You shrug in suggestion, unsure of your words. “If you’re not busy.”
Steve smiles faintly before he nods his head in agreement. He tries to seem as calm as possible towards your question, but internally, he was truly exploding with butterflies. Has a girl ever made him feel this way after such a long time? It had been years since he genuinely felt the fantastical flutter in his stomach. And most importantly, it had been years since he oh-so-badly wanted to purse a girl as much as he wanted to pursue you. The littlest things that you’d do would send him into a captivated trance - like the way you’d let the sleeves of your sweater hang over your palms, cupping themselves around the heat of your coffee.
He was crushing on you.
A sliver of him didn’t sit well with the feeling. He’s always had a bit of trust issues with girls, especially after his past three ex-girlfriends. He forgot how crushes made him feel starry-eyed and lively, like he was on top of the whole world.
But who’s to say he wasn’t complaining about said crush? He likes you. End of story. Did he want to be something more? Maybe. If you’d let him.
More like if he’d let himself.
“Do you wanna come inside for a little?” You point at your apartment, swaying gently.
He hums undecidedly, as if he were making a tough decision. “Is it okay with your roommates?”
Robin and Kate lose their minds as soon as Steve walks through the door. Of course, they try to seem as subtle as possible with their excitement - not wanting to reveal the fact that you had feelings for Steve - but clearly, they were doing a terrible job in doing so. Kate would roughly nudge you in his direction, while Robin would wiggle her eyebrows at him. When Steve would have his back turned to them, they’d pretend to make-out in a comically exaggerated way. Ever the support system.
You offer him a combination of breakfast-lunch-and-dinner, sliding over a plate of the take-out from earlier. Steve rejects out of courtesy, but you respectfully insist, which causes him to, in the end, accept the food (mainly because he was unable to resist the pout on your face, and who wouldn’t say no to good ol’ Chinese food?) You sit and talk together at the dining table - him munching on Mongolian beef while you take careful sips from the latte he’d given you. Robin and Kate would butt into your conversation a few times, mostly to get to know Steve, asking him questions that you’d think only your family would ask.
Eventually, you retreat to your bedroom, cockily challenging him to a game of Mario Kart. You sit against your headboard, thumbs mashing the triggers as you speed past Steve.
“I’m telling you, Harrington. You can never win against me.” You giggle at him, pointing at the screen with your controller as you victoriously cross the finish line.
“You’re cheating!” He shouts, eyes wide with disbelief at how you managed to win again.
You turn to him, sending him a skeptical look. “There’s no cheating in Mario Kart! How could I possibly cheat?”
“Okay, fair. Then that means you must’ve hacked the game. There’s like no way. You’ve won like five times!”
Playfully, you toss your hair over your shoulder, finding amusement at the way he tries to stifle a laugh at your antics. “I’m just that good, Steve.”
In denial, Steve calls for another rematch, forcing you to pick a different character this time because he just doesn’t believe that you’re actually winning through Toad. Instead, you blindly pick Princess Peach, and Steve sticks with playing as the classic Mario. And to your downfall, you lose.
“Ha! I fucking knew it! Cheater!”
“Steve! I am not!”
“Yes! You won every damn time with Toad and now you’ve lost as Peach? Y/N, that’s some shady ass shit.” He gestures animatedly, wagging a finger at you.
“Uhuh. Go on. Go on. Bask in your victory. How many times have you won? Once?”
Cockily (and clearly fed up with your shit-talking), Steve asks for another match, this time, challenging you to a race around Rainbow Road. However, you lose again, causing Steve to win by one round.
“Hell yeah!” Rejoicing, he tosses the controller onto the bed. He throws his hands up, playing an imaginary trumpet with apparent joy that makes you smile.
“Oh, please. I let you win.”
“Nu-uh. I doubt it. You wanna know why?”
“Enlighten me.”
His voice drops to a whisper, tickling your ear as he leans closer into you. “I’m just that good.” You roll your eyes at his mocking tone, copying the words that you had said earlier with confidence.
“Keep telling yourself that. It’ll manifest someday.” You snort, pushing his shoulder. “Okay, so does the loser still get punishment?”
“I’m a man of my word.” He winks at you. “This isn’t necessarily a punishment though.”
“Oh?”
His chest rumbles as he chuckles, “More of an - an invitation that you can’t say no to.”
He couldn’t possibly...
“There’s this holiday ice skating thing downtown.” He starts, fiddling with the loose thread at the end of his sweater as he raises his head to meet your dumbfounded stare. “Come with me, Y/N?”
Was he asking you on a date?
Speechless, you stutter, cheeks heating up with sudden shyness. “Of course. I mean, I can’t say no, right?”
You exchange laughter, legs brushing up against each other as you scoot further up the bed.
“But do you want to say no?”
His eyes flicker up to meet your gaze. His brown eyes are intense, swirling with curiosity and anticipation as he awaits your response. With the hand furthest from your view, he crosses his pointer and middle finger over each other, silently sending a prayer to the universe that you’d say something that wouldn’t break his poor heart.
“Steve,” You shake your head. “I’d say yes even if I did have a choice.” He bites down on his bottom lip, feeling his heart pound from your words. “So, tonight?”
“Tonight. I’ll pick you up.” His arm brushes up against yours, and you suddenly become dizzy with all the emotions you were experiencing. “Sounds alright?”
“Sounds perfect, actually.”
-
Sighing, you stare at your reflection in the mirror, fingers playing with the loose strands of hair that wouldn’t stay in place. You readjust the earmuffs on your head, patting them down with a growing smile. From outside, you hear the soft ring of the doorbell echo through the hallways. With one final outfit-check, you slip your backpack over your shoulders then pick at your bubble jacket for any ugly stains or threads.
“Y/N! Steve is here!” You puff out your cheeks at Robin’s shout, giving yourself a brief pep talk before you’re barreling towards the front door. Robin grins proudly at you, placing her hands on your shoulders with a content look. “Don’t make an idiot out of yourself.”
You chuckle, placing your hands over hers. “Thanks. I’ll be sure not to.” She pulls you into a hug, whispering in your ear to call her if anything goes wrong. Turning the knob of the door, you’re met with Steve on your doorstep.
He smiles widely when he raises his head, face softening when he sees how cozy you look. “Hey.”
“Hi.” You shut the door behind you.
“Y-You ready to go?” He gestures at the motorcycle parked on your street - red and white, and all Steve Harrington.
“We’re going on that?” Realizing how rude that must’ve sounded, you continue. “I... motorcycles are just - they - I’ve never been on one, so...”
“There’s a first time for everything.” He laughs, scratching his jaw. Noticing your uneasy expression, he reaches out to touch your forearm. “Hey... you’ll be fine. You’ll love it.”
You sit behind Steve, calming yourself down as he starts up the bike. Wordlessly, he hands you his helmet.
“Are you sure? What about you?”
He shrugs, “Take it. Want you to be safe.” You place the helmet over your head, shivering from the cold. “You gonna hold on now or what?”
“Huh?” Steve takes your hands in his, placing them over his stomach so that your arms wrap tightly around his waist. “Oh, right. Yeah. Of course.”
Your breathing halts for a minute as he revs the engine, before he’s pulling into the street carefully. You squeak as he drives faster, whizzing past cars and stuck taxis. The chilly wind blows through your hair, and you can’t help the laugh that escapes your throat. Steve feels his heart grow at the sound, glancing back at you when the stoplight turns red.
Beautiful. Gorgeous. Pretty. No word in the world could describe you. But perfect seemed like a close one.
Steve helps you off the motorcycle, holding your hand as you hop down. The ice rink is filled with people, while Christmas music plays faintly over the speakers by the bleachers. He doesn’t let go of your hand; neither of you utter a word about it as you walk over to the rental skates. The only time he pulls away is when he puts his ice skates on, tugging on the laces expertly before he offers to fix yours. You don’t reject, laughing at the mess of strings you had accidentally created. His hand finds its place with yours when you head into the rink, holding onto the sides for support as you both get yourselves accustomed to the slippery ice.
Soon, you and Steve start to race each other around, nearly bumping into strangers as you glide past him. He grasps your hand before you can escape, which causes you to fall back into his chest from the sudden action. Steve instantly catches you, holding you by your hips before you can plummet to the hard, cold ground.
“Easy there, tiger.” He laughs against your skin, cold breath nipping at your neck. You blush, finding your footing once more. You spin around to face him, eyes trailing over the snowflakes that line the ridges of his beanie. “Did I tell you how, um, how cute you look... tonight?”
“Steve...”
“I mean, you look cute everyday but the whole...” He points at his ears. “...the whole earmuff thing brought out the - your - your cuteness.”
Just as flustered as you, he leans beside you against the rink’s fence, blinking up at the stars. You look over to him; you count the freckles on his jaw and the way the corner of his mouth turns up into a shy smile when he catches your eye. You dig the bladed toe of your skate into the ice, planting yourself in place as Steve slowly angles his body towards you. His hand comes to rest behind you, then his face is merely inches from yours. You hold your breath. Steve’s gaze flickers down to your lips, and the bridge of his nose gently grazes against yours. His head lowers while he parts his lips and closes his eyes.
He’s going to kiss you.
Until your phone buzzes loudly, and you groan in irritation. Steve’s face falls, and he tears his longing stare away from your lips when you step back to answer it.
Fucking hell.
“Hello?” Your voice is weak, raspy as if Steve had already kissed the life out of you - which he didn’t. Because you just got interrupted. “Kate? Yeah. What do you mean I... oh, fuck. You guys aren’t at home anymore? Fuck. Yeah, okay. Thanks. No, I’ll figure it out. It’s fine. I swear. Alright, bye.”
“Everything okay?” Steve sounds disappointed, but also worried, based on the tone of your voice.
“I left my freaking keys back at the apartment.” You laugh bitterly, cursing under your breath. “Kate and Robin had to go to Levi’s for something urgent and they won’t be back till like later-later.”
“Oh.”
“Yup.”
“Then come back to my place.”
What? Your jaw falls open at his words, and you rub your eyes to make sure that you aren’t dreaming.
“Are you sure? I could always find someone else and-“
“No, no. It’s okay. Plus, I live really close. It’s not a big deal for me or Jonathan.”
You and Steve linger around the rink for a few more hours. The tension between the two of you is clear - the accidental touches and accidental, nervous eye contact. Once the rink starts to clear up, you both decide to go home (or well, to Steve’s place).
-
His lofty two-story apartment is the same as it was during the party, only this time, silence fills the emptied space. You toss your shoes in the corner by the door, wincing when it echoes loudly throughout the living room. Steve pads out of the hallway, handing you a warm set of clothes.
“Steve, this is a lot. I’m only staying for tonight. I can sleep in these.” You huff, shrugging your jacket off and hanging it over the couch.
He shakes his head, smiling at you. “Here, it’s just a nice gesture from me to you. I’m insisting.” You hesitantly take the folded pile of clothing from him, holding it to your chest as he directs you to the bathroom.
Out of your cold and icy clothes, you tug down the long sleeves of Steve’s thermo, inhaling the sweet scent of vanilla. Then, you move towards Steve’s bedroom, knocking softly at his door. You hear a brief ‘yeah!’ from the inside, and you poke your head through the crack between the doorway.
“I’m gonna go sleep now...” You nod your head over to the couch by the TV. “Thanks for letting me stay.”
“No problem. You’ll be fine back there?”
“Yeah, thank you.” Steve sits on the edge of his bed, playing with his hands as he blinks at you. “G’night.”
You retreat towards the couch, plopping onto the leather cushions with a grunt. You lay the plaid blanket over your legs and curl up into the bundle of pillows. Burying your hands between your thighs for warmth, you shut your eyes, hoping that sleep would find its way soon.
It doesn’t. Tossing and turning don’t help at all - neither does the stiffness of the couch. You try your best to fall asleep, whether it be browsing on your phone or turning on the TV, nothing brings you there.
You knew you were making a bad decision once you had gotten up, letting the blanket trail behind you like a train as you quietly tiptoe into the hallway that led into Steve’s room. You screw your eyes shut when your hand reaches out to turn the knob, which makes the door creak slowly when you push it open.
The hall light peeks into Steve’s dark room, causing him to turn onto his back when he sees your figure. “Y/N...?”
“Hey, um... I can’t really - really sleep, so I was...” You clear your throat, hoping your voice would stop trembling already. “I was wondering if I could... stay with you? If that’s okay. With you. Maybe.”
You tug the blanket tighter around your shoulders, searching Steve’s sleepy face for a reaction. He mumbles something inaudible, before he pulls the comforter back and outstretches a large hand towards you.
“C’mere, beautiful.” He whispers as you crawl onto the bed, tucking your feet beneath his white sheets. He flips onto his other side, facing you with a tired smile.
“Hi.”
“Hi.”
He laughs into the pillow, while you innocently bat your eyelashes up at him. You find his hand under the covers, your pinky finger latches onto his, and you bite back the hazy grin on your face.
“Y/N?” Steve murmurs, a curl falling against his forehead.
You place your free hand on his arm. “Shhh...”
“Can I... can I...”
You force yourself to stay awake, listening to him stutter endlessly. With half-lidded eyes, you meet Steve’s admirable stare. Then, his hand leaves your pinky, trailing up your side until he stops at the nape of your neck. The bed shifts as he rolls closer towards you.
You gasp lightly when he kisses your forehead. Then the tip of your nose. Then your left cheek. Your right. And finally, he halts for a moment. His thumb swipes across your jaw, and you feel your eyes slowly, slowly, slowly close. Your eyebrows furrow in thought when Steve continues tracing letters on your jaw.
His finger follows the curve of the eight letter until the pad of his thumb lands on your bottom lip.
He spells out the words: I like you.
Steve tilts his head, and you squeeze his hip to let him know that it’s okay. A euphoric feeling washes over your chest when his lips press against yours. They’re soft - a little chapped from the cold - but it doesn’t faze you. He tastes of pumpkin spice, and you lean further into him for more. Laughs bubble from the two of you when you accidentally elbow his cheek, but return into the kiss once more.
He lets his lips hover over yours for one moment, then he places a chaste peck on them before he’s pulling back. He doesn’t want to. But he did need oxygen.
Yet, who needs oxygen when a person makes you feel like they can provide you all the possible air in the universe?
Steve smiles again when he recognizes the relaxed expression on your face. He pushes your hair away from your face, and then, he’s drifting off to sleep as well.
You take his breath away.
And at the same time, you’re the fresh air in his lungs.

Life in Music
Music has always been a major part of my life, so naturally my life can be defined by what music I was listening to at the time. I will listen to my music on shuffle and say “Oh, I remember listening to this in [insert random moment in time here]”. Thus a definitive list of my life in music is born!
Fall 2018
Shawn Mendes album (I listened to this on repeat while suffering through my online algebra assignments)
Youngblood - 5SOS album (I listened to this for the first time packing for winter break!)
Oye Como Va - Tito Puente (this was discovered during my World Music class and my roommate and I would listen to it over and over again)
Duck Tails theme song (again, my roommate and I have weird taste in music I guess)
Killer Queen - 5SOS
Polaroid - Jonas Blue, Liam Payne & Lennon Stella
Fine - Spencer Sutherland (I would listen to this song on repeat at least 15 times in a row)
Shotgun - George Ezra (My dad got me into this song)
Still New York - MAX and Joey Bada$$
8 Letters (album) - Why Don’t We (the beginning of a lovely obsession)
Happier - Marshmello (DO NOT watch this music video, whatever you do)
Have It All - Jason Mraz (This is a super specific memory but I was listening to this walking to Centennial Hall and it put me in such a good mood which algebra class ruined immediately)
LANY (album) - LANY
Spring 2019
Dan and Shay - all albums (but I like the Obsessed album the best I think)
Unbelievable - Why Don’t We (the best WDW song to date, I will fight people on this)
Don’t Change - Why Don’t We
Phases - PRETTYMUCH (I remember many cold mornings at 7 am walking to Chemistry and listening to this on repeat)
If I Can’t Have You - Shawn Mendes (I remember driving to surprise our best friend at his college graduation and blasting this song with the windows down, such a fun day!)
Look What God Gave Her - Thomas Rhett (I have a specific memory of driving to Walmart with my roommate and choosing this song to listen to)
Someone to You - BANNERS (this song was used in After and I saw that with my roommate and another friend during Block Party weekend)
NIKES - Jake Miller
Here With Me - Marshmello feat. CHVRCHES (I listened to this one so much that my roommate actually banned me from listening to it around her because she was so sick of it)
Love Me Less - MAX & Quinn XCII
Who Do You Love - The Chainsmokers & 5SOS
I Don’t Belong In This Club - Why Don’t We & Macklemore (pretty sure there’s a video of me singing this song very poorly 😂)
comethru - Jeremy Zucker (feat. Bea Miller)
Cody Simpson - all new albums (this obsession started after I saw him in Anastasia on a trip to New York and I’m now in love, he has such a summer vibe in all of his newer music)
Fall 2019 (aka worst semester everrr)
Kill My Mind - Louis Tomlinson (anxiously waiting for Walls to release!!)
Yellow Hearts - Ant Saunders (courtesy of TikTok)
Fine Line (album) - Harry Styles (my roommate became obsessed with Watermelon Suger so I thought she would become obsessed like me - thought wrong; the video for Adore You dropped and I watched it while getting ready one morning to which my roommate said “What the heck are you watching?”)
Ophelia - The Lumineers (TikTok again, I might be obsessed)
5SOS - Sounds Good Feels Good album and Teeth (this semester made me feel angsty and SGFG definitely helps with that)
Colors (EP) - Jacob Whitesides (I may have cried out of pride listening to this the first time which was as soon as it was released)
What Am I - Why Don’t We (changed my mind, this is the best WDW song)
Next to Normal soundtrack (watched a bootleg of this on YouTube and cried)
Flicker (album) - Niall Horan (I’m a bad fan but I just now listened to this album...oops. It was on repeat studying in the library for finals with my roommate)
Put a Little Love on Me - Niall Horan
Nice to Meet Ya - Niall Horan (this song excited me because he speaks French and the only class I enjoyed this semester was French so)
Suburban Girl - Lostboycrow (I jam hard to this song, I was listening to a chill playlist while doing laundry and that’s how I discovered this song)
10,000 Hours - Dan and Shay (I also listened to this one on repeat as soon as it came out, along with Kill My Mind)
Mother - Charlie Puth (I saw this king in concert and he will forever be one of my favs)
Things That We Drink To - Morgan Wallen (I discovered him on a band bus ride back from Shippensburg University and I fell in love with this Australian country singer)
Aaand during winter break I have been listening to High School Musical: The Musical: The Series which I was ready to hate but I’m actually in love with!
Spring 2020 - aka Corona Virus University
Goldfish Crackers - Good Revere (best TikTok dance everrrr, my roommate and I are obsessed with it and we do it together a lot, even if it is just over FaceTime)
Heartbreak Weather (album) - Niall Horan (so so amazing, I could listen to it over and over for the rest of my life which may or not be happening)
CALM (album) - 5 Seconds of Summer (again, great album and have it on repeat)
Common Sense - Joshua Basset (cute, cute song from a cute, cute boy)
IDK You Yet - Alexander 23 (another really cute song)
Starry - (this is a musical based on the life of Vincent Van Gogh, sounds a little bizarre but I promise it’s incredible! Dillon Klena is part of the team now although he didn’t sing on the actual recording)
Whistler - Kathryn Gallagher (she’s part of the Jagged Little Pill company on Broadway and she’s so good!)
Jasper Avenue - CaRter (vibeeees)
Little Women Soundtrack - (all instrumental and I’ve written many an English paper/Genetics paper to it)
Intentions - Justin Bieber feat. Quavo (I only know a few words but that doesn’t stop me from vibing as hard as I possibly can!)
Sunday Best - Surfaces (another TikTok song but it is so so good and gets stuck in my head. Bonus is that I can do the dance!)
Winter Hurts (EP) - Jacob Whitesides (another banging album from my dude! Go check it out if you haven’t already!)
Beautiful Soul - Jesse McCartney (this has always been my favorite song but it now has so much more meaning to me because it was Corey La Barrie’s favorite too. Rest in Paradise bud<3)
Hedwig and the Angry Inch album (specifically the Riverdale cast album, some may say it’s cringey but I loved it! - “Here’s to Ronnie...”)
Fall 2020
Fallin’ - Why Don’t We (such an amazing group of guys that are finally producing music that is 100% them! I’m really looking forward to seeing the rest of their album because if it is anything like this then it is about to break the charts)
Julie and the Phantoms Cast Album (OH MY GOSH I need to make a post with all of my JATP thoughts because this show has so many layers that make it absolutely incredible. There are no skips on the album AT ALL)
Hold Me Down - Jacob Whitesides (This is his best song by far and I streamed it for about 24 hours straight so my boy could rack up his streams on Spotify 😌)
mama’s boy - LANY (another amazing album by them! My favorite differs from day to day but currently it is (what i wish just one person would say to me))
Lotus Inn - Why Don’t We (This is such a feel-good song and honestly I’ve listened to it so many times and am still not tired of it at all. The music video is incredible and it was another of Corey’s favorite songs <3)
evermore - Taylor Swift (holy cow, this girl is amazing! My favorite is happiness, tolerate it, and gold rush!)
Wonder - Shawn Mendes album (so many cute love songs and Monster with Justin Bieber is sooo good!)

Tips for joining the Mile High Club, if you dare
Tumblr media
Have you ever been tempted to join the exclusive Mile High Club? Or maybe you're already a member?
To be allowed entry, one must go all-out amorous at 5,280 feet – although cruising altitude (in both senses of the word) of around 35,000 feet is more common. If you’re considering enrollment, here we give you some facts, a few words of caution and some tips for those deciding to buy a ticket to paradise.
Tumblr media
1.) You might become (in)famous
A 20-year-old British woman, who had a bit more red wine on a 4-hour flight than appropriate, was asking male passengers to join the Mile High Club. Not only did Demi Burton get no takers, she became boisterous and ultimately ended up with a jail sentence. Just remember: Joining the club requires a clear mind and the ability to make strategic moves. Therefore we recommend drinking in moderation.
2.) Join the ranks of thousands
According to a poll, more people talk the talk but don’t walk the walk when it comes to doing the deed at lofty levels. So stand out by putting your money where your mouth is. According to a Jetsetter poll, the number of frisky fliers is 15% of adults. That would mean that, if you are sitting on the Airbus A380, which is the largest commercial airplane, the chances are that 75 out of the 500 passengers are already in it or will be joining the club.
Tumblr media
3.) Get in line with A-listers
If you do happen to score, you’ll be in infamous company. Self-proclaimed mile-high celeb members include John Legend, Kim Kardashian, Janet Jackson, Liam Neeson, John Travolta, Gwyneth Paltrow, and, of course, Richard Branson. During a chat on Tyra Banks’ talk show when asked where the craziest place Janet Jackson had done it was, she replied, "On a plane... an airplane... commercial." And when Tyra asked her if it was in the bathroom, Janet said, "No. That’s what makes it worse…. it was in my seat."
4.) A time-honored tradition
As the story goes, charter member Lawrence “Gyro” Sperry, inventor of the automatic pilot, found a creative way to use his hands when not flicking the flight knobs. On a 1916 flight with a married socialite, the autopilot was accidentally disengaged, resulting in the couple, wearing only their birthday suits, ending up in the Atlantic near Long Island, New York. Although their altitude was way shy of a mile, an idea sprung to life, as did the tabloid headline “Aerial Petting Ends in Wetting.”  (Sperry was no slouch. He’s also credited with the turn and bank indicator, seat pack parachute and retractable landing gear.)
5.)  Nourish your mind and body
Relationship advisers say that occasionally moving the action from the boudoir can raise the temperature and reignite the passion. Physiologically speaking, the sense of adventure when flying and the forbidden aspect along with a plane’s hum and vibrations can heighten the sensations!
6.) Exercise your rights (and thighs)
Reports of would-be members contorting themselves to make love in the lavatory include mentions of Charley horses, twisted backs and strained necks.  What better motivation do you need to get those muscles moving and finally make use of that gym membership you’ve been paying for?
7.) Add some luxury to your high flying
Lovebirds can make it easier on themselves by flocking to their own nest. Some private aviation companies target twosomes, offering them their own canoodling cocoons. Love Cloud, for instance, zips across Las Vegas in a Cessna with a customized romantic interior that includes “sex position pillows.” A curtain and the pilot’s noise-canceling headphones allow privacy. Flamingo Air, which flies out of Cincinnati, offers a bed behind a private curtained-off area, as well as “champagne, chocolates and a very discreet pilot.”
8.) Win naming rights
If your consummation results in conception, you can rightfully name the kid Sky. Fun fact: David Copperfield’s daughter’s name is Sky (born in 2010), so maybe he joined the club already? If you don't like the name Sky, other options include Alya (meaning "sky, heaven" in Arabic), Azzurra (from "azure, sky blue" in Italian) and Lani (meaning "sky, heaven, royal and majesty" in Hawaiian).
9.) The solo option
For a more convenient buzz, bring your own vibrating apparatus. According to the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA), “adult toys” are allowed in carry-on bags (as well as checked). But beware that airlines in some countries do have restrictions on these kinds of toys, so do your research before getting that buzz on.
10.) Do it between the book covers
For the shy ones, isn’t it easier to just read the book? Start with the classic “Coffee Tea or Me?” first published in the swinging ‘60s and written as a memoir by two randy stewardesses. More recently, there’s “The Mile High Club” in the Kinky Friedman series; “Mile High Club: First Class All the Way with the Rich and Famous”; and so many more. Or snack on a smorgasbord of “true tales” at  www.milehighclub.com.
Tumblr media
11.) Avoid things going very wrong
It could happen like it did on “The Mindy Project,” where Mindy and her paramour try to get it on in the airplane lavatory. They not only fail, but his arm gets stuck in the trash bin and her hair is flushed down the toilet. Not so unrealistic, actually, so remember to tie your hair back first.
12.) Shrink away from shrinking lavatories
While the average public toilet stall is 34 inches wide, many planes flown by major U.S. carriers have shrunk their lavatories to 24 inches wide to make room for more seats. That’s barely enough room to turn around, much less follow the Kama Sutra. Plus aren’t airplane bathrooms off-putting enough already without exposing even more of your body for longer periods of time?
13.) Keep up with the times
Mile-high hanky-panky is so 20th-century. The days of free-wheeling flying fun are over. Heightened security measures include using only the toilet in your ticketed cabin and not “congregating” near the toilet, which can mean no waiting in line. Also, flight attendants are trained to size up passengers and keep an eye on them, the opposite of what you want if you’re going for the gold.
14.) Keep the law off your back (and your shirt on)
Your legal rights when engaging in on-board escapades, especially if you stay seated, are as murky as the overhead PA system. Better to not flirt with getting booted, arrested or publicly humiliated.
For those so inclined to do the deed, here are a few tips on how to get away with it
International flights are best, as there’s less attention, so therefore more opportunity to get away from prying eyes. If you want to join the club in style and not be cramped up in a tiny lavatory, check out the Emirates Airbus A380, which has two showers in First Class. Of course, the First Class flight attendant-to-traveler ratio is very low, so watch out. For the rest of us in Economy, some carriers have larger lavatories in the middle. Sneak peeks before you sneak off. Bonus points for handicap accessible bathrooms, which are roomier and have bars, which help with positioning and stability. Don’t enter the restroom together, and don’t exit at the same time either. Aim for late at night when passengers are sleeping or during food service when crew members are clustered in one area and passengers are distracted. Stay Sexy and Safe! Tumblr media
012. Lorde – “Supercut”
Tumblr media
011. Destroyer – “Tinseltown Swimming in Blood”
Tumblr media
010. Miley Cyrus – “Malibu”
Tumblr media
Miley Cyrus was one of the big pop stars of late to go back-to-basics (think: Lady Gaga's "Joanne," Kesha's "Rainbow"). After capturing the zeitgeist in 2013 with provocative singles like "Wrecking Ball" and "We Can't Stop," Miley stripped things down with her new unplugged country album "Younger Now." That LP's first single "Malbiu" showcases the adult side of Miley, whose voice has never sounded better. A breezy and delightfully sweet ballad - one that never steps into the realm of preciousness - "Malibu" celebrates rekindling a love with effortless but poignant songwriting (she wrote the song in an Uber on the way to a taping of "The Voice," where she serves as a judge) that is also an ode to sunny Southern California.
009. Rita Ora – “Anywhere”
Tumblr media
It's been a long, tough road for Rita Ora. She's never released an album in the U.S. (though she has great success in her native U.K.), nor has she had much traction with her previous excellent singles in the States. Unfortunately, that's not going to change with "Anywhere," arguably her best song ever, which has yet to chart in the U.S. Nevertheless, it's a high-quality dance-pop banger and it's the perfect antidote to the vile year that was 2017: A euphoric 3-minute and 35-second form of escapism that comes with one of the best pre-choruses in recent memory.
008. Terror Jr – “Caramel”
Tumblr media
Just like the candy, "Caramel," the single from the mysterious pop group Terror Jr, is gooey and sticky. It's a hazy balled that references depression, drug use, gay rights and other hot button issues. Speaking with Thump, singer Lisa Terror said the song is "a reaction to the surreal world in 2017." With a minimal production, "Caramel" lures you in with finger snaps and slinky synths and Lisa's manipulated vocals, resulting in a captivating and hypotonic track.
007. Taylor Swift – “Delicate”
Tumblr media
Taylor Swift's latest album "reputation" may be her weakest effort since her 2006 debut, but it still comes with some stellar gems. Produced by Max Martin and Shellback, "Delicate" is one of Swift's sexiest songs to date and her most mature. Here, Swift actually swears and sings about drinking as she cautiously pursues a new love interest - she's simultaneously confident and vulnerable. But what propels "Delicate" into one of Swift's best works is its simple sonic construction; a sensual wall of synths and powerful drums that enter halfway through the song, kicking it into a high-gear emotional drive.
006. Phoenix – “Fior Di Latte”
Tumblr media
French band Phoenix's new album "Ti Amo" is an ode to summers in Italy and Italian disco. Its highlight "Fior Di Latte" is a glistening groovy jam. Like the Italian cheese itself, the track is a smooth and airy delight that's straightforwardness about making love under the Italian sun complements the track's song construction. The track builds with vibrant bass and singer Thomas Mars's silky vocals, which eventually gives way to a cataclysmic explosion. From one of indie music's most reliable bands, Phoenix's "Fior Di Latte" is a sensual stunner that bursts with light.
005. Selena Gomez – “Bad Liar”
Tumblr media
Selena Gomez has low-key been one of the most reliable pop stars of the 21st century. With huge bangers like "Hands to Myself," "Good For You," "Same Old Love," "Come & Get It" and more, Gomez has slayed the charts with undeniable pop gems. For "Bad Liar," Gomez continues her brand of sultry pop, this time unexpectedly sampling the Talking Heads' 1977 single "Psycho Killer." With a funky bass and Gomez's cooing vocals, "Bad Liar" is cool and clever song; the most daring effort from the star yet, giving hope Gomez has further tricks up her sleeve.
004. Lorde – “Homemade Dynamite”
Tumblr media
"Homemade Dynamite" wasn't an immediate favorite from Lorde's sophomore album "Melodrama." Unlike the instant hits "Supercut" and "The Louvre," both brilliant euphoric bops, "Homemade Dynamite" is weird. But over time, the track slowly revealed itself, exploring complex emotions with interesting production and slinky synth-work, courtesy of Jack Antonff. With Lorde's signature whispering, "Homemade Dynamite" is the perfect concoction of all of her best traits: A radio pop song that's bent just a little too much, making it fascinating and innovative while still completely accessible. Awesome, right?
003. SOPHIE – “It’s Okay to Cry”
Tumblr media
SOHPIE's "It's Okay Cry" was a coming-out of sorts for the otherwise enigmatic British musician/producer. The song's accompanying music video was the first time SOPHIE made her official appearance, with the camera up close and centered on her. (At the same time, SOPHIE released a press release stating she prefers she/her pronouns.) The song is a queer anthem - a stirring ballad that's restrained for SOPHIE, who's known for her spastic and glitch-y synths. With honest lyrics ("The pain inside increases / It takes more strength to hold it in then to give in and surrender") and a massive buildup that erupts with a thunderous clap, "It's Okay to Cry" hits the reset button, making SOPHIE truly one of the most interesting artists to watch.
002. Kesha – “Praying”
Tumblr media
There's no better song than Kesha's "Praying" to be the anthem for the abysmal year that was 2017. Her comeback single took aim at disgraced producer Dr. Lukas, who she accused of sexual assault (he has denied all claims). Kesha has been in court battles with the producer and her record label, forced into a music limbo. But when "Praying" unexpectedly dropped in July, it not only an excellent song that showed off Kesha's vocals, but it was also a battle cry, with Kesha throwing down the gauntlet. It established her as a new musician - the "TiK ToK" party days are behind her (remember, she's dropped the "$" in her name)- and posited her as a pop singer-songwriter. "Praying" isn't scornful or angry. Instead, it's full of hope and forgiveness with Kesha taking the high road: "I hope you're somewhere prayin', prayin' / I hope your soul is changin', changin' / I hope you find your peace," she screams during the song's breathtaking chorus.
001. Lana Del Rey - “Love”
Tumblr media
No current pop artist has struggled with today's political climate more than Lana Del Rey. With songs like "National Anthem," lyrics like "Be young, be dope be proud / Like an American," and music videos showing her waving the U.S. flag, the elusive singer built her career from American pastiche. But that changed this year after Donald Trump entered the White House. Not only did she cast a witchy spell on him, but she also banned the American flag from her shows, and penned a track about the threats of North Korea. To say that Del Rey become more aware of her surroundings this year would be an understatement. With "Love," the first single off her excellent album "Lust for Life," the chanteuse gets nostalgic, looking back at the music that propelled her into stardom, and turns the track into an ode to her fans: "Look at you kids with your vintage music/You're part of the past, but now you're the future," she sings over a string arrangement echoing the music from her debut "Born to Die." It's a powerful and earnest song (something rare these days in pop music) where Del Rey winks at the Beach Boys and, most importantly, give hope to her millions of fans: "It doesn't matter if I'm not enough / For the future or the things to come / 'Cause I'm young and in love / Don't worry, baby."

Title: Rara Avis WC: 800 Episode: Almost Famous (3 x 07)
He has not, for a minute, stopped wondering what she isn’t telling him. The phantom scent of caramel sauce, more than slightly disturbing in context, fills the air every time something happens that has him wondering a little harder. The murder of Derek Brookner has him wondering a lot harder.
He’s been trying to be good. Or respectful. Or faithful? What’s good has seemed a lot like a moving target lately, but he’s been trying to be decent when it comes to wondering. He’s been trying to keep it in the realm of Nikki Heat Need to Know, because he’s in a relationship and she’s in a relationship and it’s not appropriate to come over all Yes, Please, I Would Like The Insider Tour Of The Clubs You’ve Been To. But Derek Brookner, even before they know he’s Derek Brookner, feels like a test.
For one thing, he’s got some emotional whiplash courtesy of the swing between the intense power walk up to the scene of a brother officer’s murder and the revelation that Lanie is curiously conversant with tear-away pants. For another, there was definitely a Look exchanged between the good Detective and the Friendly Neighborhood ME that leaves him very interested in how much experience, individually and/or together, they may have preying on the Officer McNaughties of New York. That in turn, leaves him wondering if a stripper playing cop feels like another day at the office, and furthermore, do doctors play doctor? Falling down that rabbit hole serves as a brain-twisting reminder that he needs to restrict himself to workplace-appropriate wondering.
It’s not easy, though. Derek Brookner, from beyond the grave, is not making it easy. She’s entirely too blasé about the bachelorette paraphernalia, and it’s more than just her unflappable cop persona. She identifies and separates out the party attendee most likely to barf and passes her off to the boys before the festivities start. Her questions for Jamie Ruiz and Kathleen Park are even briefer and more pointed than usual. Her instincts for how to handle them, he’s dead certain, map back on to those six bridesmaid dresses. And when it’s clear that no one is impressed by his self-bestowed Assistant Volunteer Homicide Detective title—which, in retrospect, really could have used some workshopping—he finds himself semi-illegally wondering if she’s ever drunkenly told someone her life story, and just how many ill-advised pictures of her making duck lips are out there, awaiting excavation by a dedicated sleuth.
He’s not exactly sure where much of that falls on the good–respectful–faithful–decent continuum. Who Nikki was in her younger days and what she got up to with her girlfriends is certainly his business, and there’s an argument to be made that it’s just due diligence to determine her stance on brunch after a long night of tequila shots. There is, perhaps, less professional high ground when it comes to accompanying her to a strip club.
In his defense—if he needs a defense—the strip club is her idea, and he’s not sure he understands her angle. He’s pretty sure that the boys had not called not it, and he’s all but certain that’s because she had never even raised the possibility to them. She’d hand picked him, and how can he help but wonder why? It’s certainly punishment for daring to include homicide detective in the overly long title he’d dubbed himself wiith. But is that really all? It seems like that’s maybe not all.
She has dressed up for this—like really out-of-the-ordinary dressed up, and strip clubs may be terra nova for him, but is practically lingerie what the kids are wearing to strip clubs these days? Is she wearing what she would have worn to some of the clubs she’s been to? Or is it the opposite? Has she, instead tried for some kind of one-eighty from the ensembles favored in those infinitely more intriguing venues?
He’s well aware that he had rocketed right off the good–respectful–faithful–decent continuum here, but honestly. One minute she’s slapping him on the back and offering him singles, and the next she looks ready to take out the half dozen women swarming him with nothing more than a couple of drinking straws. The minute after that, she makes an ill-advised move on Hans Von Mannschaft all on her own, seemingly unaware of the vibe her outfit is laying down, and he’s not sure that your wingman on a typical strip-club jaunt needs to wield a fire extinguisher.
He’s happy to be along for the ride, even when she’s trying to punish him. He’s happy—always—to be along for the ride. But this particular ride really leaves him wondering.
A/N: Some might call Beckett's strip club jammies diaphanous; I know they are without morphousness.

When Bad Things Happen to Good Characters
Jonathan Roth | The Children’s Book Review | October 23, 2018
“Where’s my editor going with that ax?” I said to my writing group one morning in the coffee shop.
“To your title page,” replied my writing partners. “You may have used too many words.”
“I don’t see why she needs an ax!” I said.
In truth, the ax wasn’t unexpected. From the moment my publisher acquired my debut chapter book series, I knew the long initial title was in grave jeopardy. What was written as Beep and Bob’s Horrible Adventures in Space was soon, and rightly, changed to the pithy Beep and Bob.
Though I was fine with letting it go, I’ll admit now that the word “horrible” in the title was a guiding light I followed as I wrote these tales. Though I’m quite fond of my protagonist Bob—he’s a gentle if ordinary soul—it’s a sad truth of story telling that the most effective way to move things along is to have bad things happen to your characters.
In book one, Too Much Space!, Bob is introduced as someone who isn’t a big fan of school and is easily terrified by heights, darkness, spiders and just about anything. So where do I put him on page one? In a high orbit space school of course! (With a best friend who always carries a jar of her three pet tarantulas.) And what happens when he discovers a quick fix for ridding himself of these fears? I pull away at the worst possible moment, and stick one of the spiders in his space helmet!
Okay, I actually felt kind of bad for doing all that. So in book two, Party Crashers, I let Bob spend the entire time attending an extravagant birthday party for his friend during the maiden voyage of the luxurious Starship…Titanic.
Am I mean to my characters or what?
Which brings us to the newly released book three, Take Us to Your Sugar. I’m almost afraid to give this one to kids, because in my efforts to amp up the horrible situations, I hit Bob where it really hurts: his sweet tooth. As this story opens, Bob, who is totally dependent on the space station school cafeteria food for all his meals, learns that the machine that produces the sugar which flavors everything from ketchup to ice cream is broken. And the new parts won’t arrive for months!
The only silver lining is that Halloween is just around the corner, and Bob figures that if he collects enough bulging bags of candy, he can possibly make it to spring. But then he learns that Halloween isn’t celebrated at space school!
So what is poor Bob to do? Endure unsweetened food and possibly an improvement to his health? Or come up with a plan?!
There’s a famous saying about the 3-act structure of fiction: “Get your characters up in a space ship, throw asteroids at them, and then have them find a way down.” (Okay, maybe the original quote says “tree” and “rocks,” but for my purposes there are no trees in space.) And while I’ve been emphasizing the first couple parts of this story principal, it is the last crucial step which finally explains why we take our characters to the limits of their endurance: so they can find a way to face their fears and grow.
I know, maybe not the greatest consolation for them, but of utmost importance to young readers. Even us big kids often still look to fictional characters and the choices they make for our own consolation and inspiration. Just don’t tell Bob I took away his candy for a reason, or he may go on strike before I finish book number four.

Publisher’s Synopsis: Beep and his best friend Bob hatch a plan to save Halloween—and their school—in this third book in the hilarious, action-packed Beep and Bob series!
It’s October in space, and Bob is getting excited for his favorite holiday: Halloween. When Bob tells Beep that soon they’ll get to dress up like monsters and get as much free candy as they can carry, Beep thinks he has gone to heaven. But Lani informs them that Halloween isn’t celebrated at Astro Elementary.
Bob cannot imagine life without Halloween! He appeals to Principal Quark, but with no success. Determined to save Halloween, Bob and Lani organize a secret club: SCARES (Scary Costumes Are the Right of Every Student, or, more truthfully, the Society of Candy Addicts who Rely on Energy from Sugar).
As the secret club grows, Halloween fever invades Astro Elementary. Unfortunately, a horde of grotesque aliens, attracted by the treats, also invades the school on the last day of the month. With everyone in costume, no one can tell who’s who. Beep and Bob may have saved the holiday, but can they somehow use their sugar-addled wits to save the school?

New Post has been published on https://travelonlinetips.com/10-of-the-most-popular-national-parks-in-america/
10 of the most popular national parks in America
Since its creation in 1916, the National Park Service has been dedicated to protecting and maintaining America’s recreation areas, monuments, sites and our 60 national parks. It also preserves the American pastime of loading up the car and taking the family to go see famous sites like Old Faithful in Yellowstone, El Capitan in Yosemite and the Grand Canyon.
In 2017, more than 330 million people visited national parks.  But where were the most visitors flocking? According to the National Park Service, these were the top ten most visited destinations.
1. Great Smoky Mountains National Park
Visitors: 11,388,893

The name “Great Smoky Mountains” comes from the ever-present fog that looms over this mountain range situated along the North Carolina-Tennessee border. Established in 1934, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park is not just home to a diverse ecosystem of flora and fauna, it’s also home to a rich history of Appalachian culture, some of which can be explored at The Mountain Farm Museum at Oconaluftee Valley.

The Grand Canyon is the result of over 70 million years of geological events. Tectonic plates lifted the ground creating the Colorado Plateau, glaciers and rifts created valleys, while the Colorado River carved its way through the gorge. It is truly a natural splendor!
When President Theodore Roosevelt first visited the Grand Canyon in 1903, he said, “The Grand Canyon fills me with awe. It is beyond comparison – beyond description; unparalleled throughout the wide world.” 16 years later, the Grand Canyon National Park Act was signed by President Woodrow Wilson, officially deeming the Grand Canyon a national park.
Some of the most popular ways to explore the Grand Canyon include taking in the views at Mather Point overlook, hiking the Rim Trail and hiking Hermit Road.
