In wake of the stupid shitshow that is this dumb coronation, I saw someone going 'oh protests are illegal in the UK? Ireland we've got to get you out of there' and I've seen a lot of other stuff to that effect of 'oh poor Wales', or 'get out of there Scotland' (from people outside the UK) and like!!! people in England are also suffering this impacts people in England!
I agree and fully support all kinds of independence for the other countries in this shitshow of a nation- do not twist my words with this one, I support independence, and when I see folks from those countries only talking about this, obviously I support them because their primary concern is independence.
But!! It's fucking infuriating to see people from outside the UK acting like the other countries just have to get out of the UK and then no more innocent people will suffer, as if that's the only problem, as if there aren't plenty of people in England who don't deserve this nonsense either

Iran is bombing Israel apparently, FAFO moment truly.
Both Biden and Trump are vowing to defend Israel with harsh military force against Iran.
If they follow through with it and the US moves against Iran, this will actually become a war.
Do not stop pressuring politicians to support Palestine. Do not stop advocating for Palestine. Do not stop protesting Israel. Do not stop protesting genocide.
From the river to the sea.

the older I get, the more certain I am that anyone who has ever voted conservative more than once should be roasted and eaten.

been seeing a lot of scary-looking news about italian elections. what is happening there? are you safe?
I'm not happy about it (honestly I didn't vote because there is no party I agree with enough), but I think foreign media and many people are blowing this out of proportion.
This didn't happen because most Italians are far-right, this happened because this party was the only bigger one that stayed out of the last government's coalition and Italians saw this as "coherency" (asinine af since she's allied with two parties who were part of that coalition 😅). I don't think most Italians agree with most of what her party says (I mean I hope lol) but it's typical of Italian parties to do little to nothing of what they say regardless if they're Right or Left so I'd wait and see what happens before panicking.
I'm worried but it's so hard to change Italy in any direction that I don't know how much effective harm they can do. The Republic President can always nullify the government with the snap of his fingers if something particularly bad happens.
I do get why someone out of the closet would panic, though. I mean, she called Peppa Pig lgbt propaganda because there's an episode about a child with two moms.
So, in conclusion

also in moving to nyc it's the first time my life that the majority of my jewish community hasn't been chabad or reform. (while my shul growing up was chabad and my religious education was chabad, my parents are Conservative/Conservadox -- again, denominationally not politically -- and my house was a Conservative Jewish™ household). this is the first time i'm plugged into Conservative Judaism™ as an institution instead of just a vague middle ground as "Jews who practice traditional Judaism but aren't orthodox"
like, my friends are Conservative Jewish educators and youth outreach coordinators, children of Conservative Rabbis, people who've worked within this institution for years trying to essentially safe it from itself as it hemorrhages members.
it's really fascinating to see how lots of people my age are into Conservative Judaism conceptually but the mantle has not really been passed down to us and it's alienating us as a result

as primary voting rolls around in the US, i highly recommend looking up the leaders on your ballot and their relationship to Israel, especially those running for congressional positions. Its the primary, so its democrat v democrat and many running unopposed. u bet ur ass im voting write ins instead of for these openly zionist democrats. not getting MY vote
