one thing I also find v frustrating in this fandom is that a 'passive' female character is considered somehow backwards, uninteresting, or unsympathetic. passive and active are just about what a character's relationship to the narrative is. it does itself not determine whether that relationship is an engaging one or not, or what degree of importance that character holds. women are often relegated to passive roles, so necessarily within ASOIAF there are going to be characters who operate from within them - and that is still worthy of commentary and engagement. it's great that we also have a high number of female characters with active roles, but that is not the only way to write interesting women. you can have whole fucking novels about passive characters and many of them are the best ever written so can we stop with the Barbie 2023 dir. Greta Gerwig level feminism im tired

Trimax vol2's emotionally damaging parallels
Right off the bat this vol pulls no punches swerving into darker seinen territory, but the framing of these scenes in particular probably hit me the hardest.
Wolfwood's dreams vs Vash's reality on returning 'home' to greet the kids...
Where Wolfwood dreams believing his hands are far too stained with blood to have the right to hold the kids from his orphanage anymore.....to watching Vash return home only to have that right to hold forcibly taken from him. (What a nightmare...) As the lives of all those innocent people and children Vash cares for literally slip and crumble through his fingers. Shattering...
You can take this moment even further by comparing it to the vol's disturbing opening scene of Legato contorting countless live men into meat puppets against their will to kill them...vs Leonof's method of dissecting (killing) his live subjects to transform them into literal puppets. Oh yeah, it's that fucked up. That Wolfwood immediately opens fire on the puppetmaster, appalled that his way to emotionally torture Vash, by turning his home family's innocent lives into literal (weaponized) playthings, is this foul.
I'm glad Wolfwood took a stand here when it crossed a personal line (involving kids) he could not tolerate! But Vash's reaction? ohohoho.......
Because remember when Wolfwood confronted Vash earlier this vol, accusing him that he's a coward who refuses to kill anyone because he doesn't want to get his hands dirty? But Vash completely turns it around, saying he's the coward who gives up hope so easily, that he sees 'a (pained) man who forces himself to play the devil while his heart cries out.'
Now what does Wolfwood see in Vash once his broken heart cries out blood...
He's confronted with the fearsome gravity and magnitude of a non-human who forces himself to contain the devil while he cries out in pain!
Now how can just a human like Wolfwood, who only plays the devil to pragmatically kill, contend with that? (Oh what a crisis...) With the level of oppressive death and inhuman power this [monster] normally suppresses (for telling reasons!) it's almost a miracle Vash mercifully chooses not to kill while playing the pacifist who protects and strives for humanity's hope instead.

Got in a fight with a sys on syscord that came from a sysblr over our alter having a numbered name when hes literally a conditioned (not programmed, its complicated lol) alter? And they said it was disrespectful to THEIR trauma for our alter who had an assigned name to have said name. Because it triggered THEM for US to have an alter with a name like that?

I really fucking love The Bear, actually. I loved seeing Ritchie peel mushrooms with the head chef of a 3-star Michelin restaurant. Ritchie driving and singing along to love story. Him staging. Actually his whole character arc. Sydney joining work at the beef because Carmy made her the best meal of her life (and he doesn’t even know it). Carmy leaving the best restaurant in the world to work at this rundown one because his brother left him that. Carmy finding out that Michael wanted to franchise the restaurant with him and wanted to keep it a surprise and that’s why he was keeping Carmy at an arm’s distance. Nat joining the restaurant because she loves her brothers. Nat telling Carmy first about her pregnancy and telling him that no one else knows. Carmy, Nat & Syd actually turning it into a franchise. Them sending their cooks to culinary school and Marcus especially to Copenhagen. Syd wanting Tina as her sous and trusting her the most. Carmy not being able to see Syd in distress and building a non-verbal form of communication with her, despite being raised in an uncommunicative and abusive household, growing up feeling unloved. Nat deciding to be a mother and have a baby despite having a mother like Donna (& still choosing to believe in her). Carmy hugging Syd after the fire inspection and getting her a custom monogrammed chef’s coat. Everybody telling Ritchie he looks good after he starts wearing suits and no one making fun of him. Carmy thinking of Syd during his nervous breakdown and that calming him down. Ritchie apologising to Nat and her accepting. Carmy screaming to get Syd when he gets stuck in the refrigerator because he trusts her the most. Ritchie calming down Syd when everything goes haywire at the restaurant and helping her shoulder responsibilities to a smooth run. I am not okay.

Thinking about how it’s taken to the age of 34 for Taylor to find a partner who is comfortable publicly existing with her and supporting her without a) treating her like a secret or b) eventually seeing her as a, well, ever-lovely reflective jewel, and that’s just wild.
Idk something about that video from yesterday of them just strolling through the stadium hallway like it was chill even in a very weird unchill situation and the vibes just being “we got this” is just… thinking thoughts.

Go on. Make a deal with not a sinner. Make a deal with the daughter of the devil. What could go wrong, Vox? It's not like this could be seen as a ploy to take everything from you if you fail to uphold your end of the contract.
Charlie could never think of anything as cruel and evil as that, right? Surely not, look at this innocent face!

actually looking at torrian’s tweets if you shittalk zero anymore i’m just fucking blocking you. no more attacking artists because they were in terrible positions and weren’t able to create a good product because of it. move the fuck on with yourselves. one bad season of a webshow is not more important than the abuses workers faced creating it
